OOC: Gender of Sneasel please.

The Togekiss unleashed a fast and large dark ball of energy which swirled rapidly towards the Sneasel. It went to leap out of the way, but the electricity suddenly surged, and kept it rooted to the ground, and the Shadow Ball slammed into the Sneasel, and it was nearly knocked backwards out of the arc of the Parkball, but it remained in place as the Parkball tapped it on the nose, and sucked it in.

It wobbled once, and then twice, and then the click resonated through the air, signalling that it had been a successful capture. Talon swooped forward, picking up the Parkball, and placing it safely inside the satchel he was carrying.

"Congratulations, you caught a Sneasel." Talon beamed. "Nice job there."

The Sneasel paused and twitched slightly causing him to miss a golden opportunity to evade the Shadow Ball. It struck the Sneasel causing him to cringe slightly just as the Park Ball soared though the air and tipped the bbeautiful Sneasel on the hand. He was sucked into a bright flash of red light before the Park Ball fell down to the soft snow below. It rolled around slowly causing me to hold my breath. This was it. My first opportunity to catch this Pokemon and bring it up in a world of love. It was sort of hard to tell but I assumed that it was young enough, no older than four years of age. Then, to my utmost surprise, the Park Ball stopped meaning only one thing. I froze. "Oh my," I muttered. This was surreal I had captured the Sneasel. I let out a surprisingly shrill scream of joy, that wasn't very manly. I felt my cheeks blush a rosy, scarlet colour.

"Congratulations, you caught a Sneasel." Talon beamed. "Nice job there." I gave him a quick smile as I watched him pick up th. Ball and stow it in his bag. I had a sudden urge to end my run just so I could be united with my two successful enounters and captures, but I ressisted it. There would be a lot more Pokemon to catch very soon. Infact, I may have to give up one of my two captured Pokemon in favour of another. But, that dreadful thought would have to wait until later. "Let's move on and encounter the next Pokemon quickly," I said beaming at my Ranger in his marroon-coloured jumper.

Talon led his trainer quickly up the slope, the cold growing even more intense the higher they climbed. His trainer walked alongside him, obviously excited to encounter another Pokemon, and the fates definitely didn't want to displease him, as Talon stopped suddenly, his trainer looking at him in confusion, when Talon suddenly pulled Jay down, the two crouching.

The ranger raised a hand to his lips to tell Jay to be quiet, and crept forward, Jay following closely behind. Talon glanced round the large rock that was in their line of sight, and stopped them from seeing what was in the clearing, and Talon smiled, allowing Jay to see what was in the clearing, and Talon waited for the shock to appear on his trainer's face.

The Pokemon was quite small, about half the height of the average teenager, and its skin was a mismatch of cobalt blue and jet black, around its neck was a small yellow patch of skin, its ears were quite long compared to the size of its body, and were black in colour, and its eyes were crimson. Talon smiled as he glanced at Jay.

"You want to catch it?" Talon asked.

After the capture Talon brought me up the small, snowy hill higher up into the rockier part of the mountain. As we walked along my mind began to drift once more. I thought about my Dojo bak at home. The Dojo that I had been chosen as the most successful applicant. Electric Pokemon had always been some of my favourite type of Pokemon. They generally tended to be very speedy and often had great Special Attack. I found myself thinking just how odd it was for me to venture up these mountains in search of Ice and Fighting Types when I rarely used types other than Electric. Well, variety is the spice of life. It would be nice to have another strong Fighting type Pokemon that would help me out in a plethora of battles. Sure, Tyrogue was good but I had promised a friend if I ever caught one I would trade it to him.

Suddenly, Talon, my ranger grabbed my shoulder pulling me down into a crouching position. Up ahead there was a large clay boulder that hung perilously at the cliff's edge, threatening to squish us. I thought that was what Talon was going to show me until he raised his finger to his lips signalling for me to be quiet. I closed my slightly gaping mouth at that second as Talon pointed once more at the large rock. Leaning against it was an unusual Pokemon. It had a slight resemblence to a blue dog. It's body was covered in several black patches and it had one smaller yellow patch. It had two long, droopy ears that hung down from his head limply.

"Want to catch it," Talon asked me with a shy grin. "Yes," I whispered back. Riolu was a very rare Pokemon that very few trainers ever captured. I wanted to be one of those lucky trainers. I raised a Great Ball slowly from my pocket. It's blue ball was the colour of the lone Riolu except it was covered in red designs. I threw it high into the air and, in a flash of crimson red light, Togekiss materialised in the air before me. "Are you ready?" I asked the Togekiss who was squinting at the Riolu. She gave me a big smile that stretched across her face and tilted her head, nodding.

Jay's Togekiss came into view as it was released from its Pokeball, and it was ready to battle the Riolu. The humanoid dog Pokemon turned as it noticed the humans, and spotted the Togekiss, leaping backwards and taking itself into a battle stance.

The Riolu pointed its palms to one another, and began focusing its energy to the space between its palms, and a cobalt blue ball of energy began to form, growing larger as the Riolu continued to focus on building up its energy. The sphere grew to a reasonable size, and the Riolu stopped channeling its power, and flung the sphere at the Togekiss. The Aura Sphere hurtled forwards so fast that there was no time to react, and the sphere crashed into the Togekiss, the ball exploding upon impact, small wisps of cobalt energy floating around the Togekiss' body after the impact.

The Riolu readied itself, glaring at the white flying egg Pokemon, waiting to see what it would do in retaliation. The humanoid dog Pokemon looked ready for the battle ahead, and was patiently awaiting the Togekiss' move.

The Riolu noticed our presence rather quick and immediately prepared itself for the oncoming battle. Itt raised it's hannds over it's chest, leaving a small amount of space between his two blue arms. His eyes closed in anticipation as he prepared himself for the next attack. He readied his mind while he performed the Aura Sphere attack, a move that required great knowledge and skill to perform, exclusive to only a handful of Pokemon, including my Togekiss. A bright sphere of energy materialised out of nowhere between his two furry hands. His eyes shot open and glowed a magnificent blue colour, the same colour as the ball of energy readily growing larger. His eyes retuuurned to their normal white colour as they snapped into focus on the Egg Pokemonb, who was staring at the Riolu, awaiting his attack. Within seconds the sphere had grown to quite a reasonable size and the Riolu brought his hands close together before pushing them outwards forcefully, sending the Aura Spphere hurtling towards Togekiss. The Fighting type attack flew with speed and precision before striking into Togekiss, who merely blinked in anticipation. She had had absolutely no time to move.

I watched the Fighting Type amusedly. It was quite clear that this Pokemon was an avid battler and would put the true extent of it's power into each and every move. The attack had barely injured the Togekiss but that was because he was warming up, sussing Togekiss out to see if it too was a dedicated battler. "Looks as though this Riolu is a stereotypical Riolu. They hit hard and fast so we'll have to watch out for this. Now, Togekiss use your Air Slash attack and attempt a Roost to help regain some energy afterwards.

I had seen my Togekiss perform this tactic many a time so I knew what it would attempt to do.The Togekiss would fly up lazily towards the Riolu, or, feigning laziness in an attempt to trick the smart Fighting Pokemon. It hovered through the sky as the Riolu stared curiously. Then, in a huge burst of speed Togekiss would shoot forward at a blinding speed and swipe at the Riolu from above in an attempt to cause it to flinch and lose valuable attacking time and energy. I knew that Togekiss would make a direct beeline back to somewhere high for it to catch it's breath and see to it's health while performing it's Roost. If the Riolu flinched she would have even loonger to heal and be more prepared for the oncoming, presumably long winded battle. Togekiss were great healing Pokemon and were often thought to posess magical powers. They were often used in regions that did not have Happiny, Chansey or Blissey nearby, generally used in Pokemon Centers.

Togekiss began the next moves. She flew up a little and floated lazily towards the Riolu...

The Riolu glared at the Togekiss as it floated lazily towards it, and fired off a small but rapid Aura Sphere, which cascaded over the Togekiss' body, but it carried on floating lazily towards the Riolu. The Riolu of course knew what the Togekiss was planning, and was waiting for the right moment to strike. Togekiss was nearly upon the Riolu and jolted forward suddenly. The Riolu anticipated this, and its palm was glowing a fierce brown as it was slammed into the face of the Togekiss as it slashed at the Riolu.

The Togekiss was sent hurtling backwards, crashing into the side of the mountain on the group's right, several rocks falling to the ground. The Togekiss floated back, shaking itself as it brought itself back to its sense, and began to recuperate. Suddenly, the ground began to rumble, and tons of rocks began to roll down, slamming onto the clearing where the Riolu and Togekiss were battling. The Togekiss floated upwards, narrowly avoiding a rock as the Riolu leapt over rocks, and landed on the boulder near Talon and Jay.

The Riolu glared at the Togekiss, before a faint cyan aura emanated around its body as it bulkened its agility, and leapt forwards suddenly, landing back in the clearing as the ground stopped rumbling, and the rocks rolled off the edge hurtling far below. The Togekiss and Riolu seemed remarkably unharmed by the rockslide, but what had caused the falling rocks was unknown, and would need investigation.

Unfortunately for my prized Pokemon, Togekiss, the Riolu knew all along what Togekiss was planning. As Togekiss unleashed himself into a burst of speed, Riolu's palm was stretched out and started to glow a faint, brown colour. I was about to warn the poor unaware Togekiss, but it would be too late. As Togekiss slashed with her outstretched wing she received a Force Palm attack to the face, sending her spiralling backwards into a steep, mountainside to our right, which I hadn't taken much notice of until now.I could feel my jaw drop in astonishment. Riolu was a Fighting type with relatively low defenses, yet it seemed completely untouched by the powerful Flying type move. That was extremely strange as I had been expecting this usually powerful attack to do heaps more damage.

Unfortunately, Togekiss didn't have enough time to use his Roost attack as the mountain above started to tremble and several rather large boulders hurtled down onto Riolu and the Togekiss. Riolu evaded the attack, but just like before, Togekiss was acting quite sloppy and only narrowly avoided a large rock, falling from above. Togekiss and I peered upwards to see what could have caused the unusual landslide. The National Park was supposed to be a very safe place, yet these boulders fell really close to where I was standing, and, no doubt would have seriously injured me, or possibly even killed me if I was struck by them. Whatever Pokemon, or human, did that was going to get given out to sternly by me for sure. And, the Park Council should really make it safer and install some railings to prevent instances like this occur again. As a Ranger myself, I know that there were hardly enough people entering the National Park nowadays and a bad publicity stunt like this would kill the National Park completely. I would hate for that to happen as it is such a beautiful place, where humans get the chance to interact with Pokemon they would have never encountered before. Pokemon from different Regions and, some, almost extinct. It was an amazing place to work in or visit.

"Are you all right?" I asked my beloved Togekiss, realising I had been distracted for quite some time. Togekiss drifted over to me and I petted her broad, silky soft neck, causing her to pur softly. The poor Pokemon had gotten quite a fright and was shaking from head to toe. "Think you can carry on?" I asked, aware of my Togekiss, and how emotional she can be. She nodded abruptly. Thing is, he was a really determined and avid fighter when it came to it. I gave him one last rub before giving him a gentle nudge back into the air. Togekiss soared back up, ready to fight again.

"Let's try our usual strategy and go with paralysis to support us. This Riolu is quite a bit more powerful than we had first anticipated. Thunder Wave!" I commanded my Egg Pokemon.

Togekiss opened her wide mouth, revealing a pink tongue. The tongue curled upwards as a ball of blue sparks began to materialise and take form inside Togekiss' mouth. The wild sparks danced over on another in their haste to form a perfect spherical shape. My Togekiss was such a perfectionist! She blew the ball of electrical energy softly and it left her mouth, and hovered outside her mouth. The Riolu looked nervous, almost as though it was afraid of what damage a Togekiss could do when Riolu was less agile. The electrical sphere reached a conclusion and Togekiss closed her mouth silently, before opening it again.

"Kiss, kiss!" he roared as the Thunder Wave attack shot through the air. Twisting and turning, in an attempt to confuse and take full advantage of the onlooking Riolu. I had also hoped that the fallen boulders would distract Riolu, but, as soon as Togekiss was ready Riolu appeared to clear his mind of all other distractions and focus fully on this important battle.

The Togekiss unleashed the ball of electricity, which as it travelled through the air twisted into a large electrical wave. The Riolu braced itself, and twirled round, slamming its fist into the wave. The wave broke into three, the two side halves circling around the Riolu as it channeled the first mini-wave into a ball, and sent it hurtling back towards the Togekiss with a Force Palm attack.

The ball of electricity slammed into the Togekiss, and it screeched softly, though it was relatively unharmed, and it wasn't even paralyzed. The two mini-waves remaining cascaded upon the Riolu's back, and it shuddered as electricity surged around its body, and it fell onto one knee, struggling to remain standing. The Riolu was now definitely open to an attack, and if Jay didn't take this opportunity, it could be his only chance to get a large advantage over the Riolu since currently it had more health than the Togekiss did.

The wave of weak electricity split up into three identical parts. Riolu watched it, concentration etched onto every corner of his lined face. He raised his fist and performed a weak Force Palm attack that smacked the ball of electricity back to Togekiss, almost as though they were playing tennis, passing attacks to and fro. The weaker jolt of electricity hit the Togekiss who screeched, moreso from shock than anything else. But, my Togekiss was brave and ignored the seemingly slight pain and continued the fight. He watched nervously as the twin waves of electrical energy closed in on the Riolu, before trapping it and closing in. Riolu wasn't quick enough to evade that attack and he fell down to one knee and stiffled a cry of pain. The electricity must have shot through his fragile body from impact, causing great pain. I didn't want to be unfair, but when I saw an opportunity, I seized it by the balls.

"Alright, Togekiss. Quickly pull off another Air Slash! Or, at least try and perform it this time. Act quick though, as the Riolu won't be as vulnerable for much longer."

Togekiss nodded his small head and shot forward, left wing outstretched, ready to slice with the sharper edges of his long wide wing. Instead of acting lazy and casual Togekiss made straight for the physical attacking part. Hopefully this attack would work as this bit of damage was quite important as the Riolu was usually on the ball, not succumbing to pain

"Please work," I mumbled crossing my fingers, and succumbing to stupid, pointless, yet traditional rituals. "Come on," I added with a tone of finality as the suspense was starting to get to me.

The Togekiss shot forward quickly, slashing at the Riolu, which yelped in pain as it fell backwards. The Togekiss turned its back and began to float back, when the Riolu shot up, and charged forward, becoming a blur due to its bonus in speed thanks to Agility, and slammed its palm, which was glowing maroon, into the floating egg Pokemon, which went hurtling into the mountain once more. A large hole was implanted in the wall, exactly the size of the Togekiss, a small cloud of dust erupting from the impact.

The Togekiss fell to the floor, and remained still for several moments, and looked as if it had been knocked out, however, it brought itself back to its senses, and floated back into the air, though shakily, and glared at the Riolu, glancing back at its trainer, awaiting for him to relay some commands to it, so it could get payback against the Riolu. The Riolu chuckled slightly, its body being surrounded by a cyan aura as it increased its speed again. That was definitely bad for the trainer and his Togekiss, and Talon was interested to see how Jay would respond to the massive speed increase in the Riolu.

The Air Slash hit the Riolu directly bringing a wide smile to my face. I couldn't helpthinking that I should have attacked more as, like before, the Riolu didn't look very hurt, and every bit of damage I could get accross would really help us. Now that I thought about it, I really wanted to capture this Riolu. It was so rare and I knew tat it would make my friends back at home extremely jealous. Then Riolu darted forward, his speed was boosted thanks to the Agility he had just done. The Riolu was preparing another Force Palm attack as he surged forward. This time, however, his palm turned a darker maroon colour. The Riolu slammed it's outstretched palm into the poor Togekiss. Like before, I wanted to call out, but it was pointless. The Togekiss shot forward and right through the hard mountain side, leaving his image imprinted onto the mountain.

I rushed forward to check on my poor Pokemon. Hopefull he would be all right. He had performed so well this battle and I was really starting to see why so much people used Togekiss. They were really bulky, funloving, strong and extremely durable. They were also very visually appealing and it was a great thing seeing a smile on your Pokemon's face even when they have suffered serious injuries. Togekiss popped out of the mountain side. He had a dopey, almost lopsided smile on his face and he was covered in a plethora of dust. He shook himself, scattering the dust everywhere, hoping to rid himself of the fine white powder.

"You're so brave," I cooed. "I'm not even going to ask whether you want to continue on. Because I know you do, you're so amazing," I beamed. "Now, let's show this Riolu who is the real boss around here. Shall we do that?" I asked as Togekiss began to nod his head rapidly, eager to continue this fieresome battle. "Let's try use Yawn now," I smiled. Togekiss gave me a knowing wink and turned to face the panting Riolu. The poor Pokemon was putting so much energy and effort into this battle. I would definitely reward it if I capture it. Sorry, when I catch it. I always had a habit of not believing in myself. Hopefully, my therapy would work and I'd gain some self confidence and believe in myself for once. I'm sure catching this Riolu would do just that and be the same as sticking up the middle finger at my angry therapist. I smiled slightly at the thought.

Togekiss opened his mouth wide and stiffled a yawn. His eyes closed softly and he lulled his head to one side, feigning sleep. He popped one eye open and watched the Riolu. The tired Riolu watched and gae Togekiss a yawn back, almost as though he was talking to Togekiss through yawning. What a funny type of communication. Now, let's see if Riolu falls asleep.

"Afterwards, Togekiss, try to use Double edge!" Togekiss nodded and began to fly forwards. A trail of wind followed behind her as she flew through the air, preparing to fling her body with full force into the body of the Riolu. Togekiss' eyes narrowed as he concentrated on performing this Double Edge.

The Togekiss yawned at the Riolu, and then pretended to be asleep. The Riolu yawned in response, its head dropping to one side slightly, but it suddenly stood bolt upright, glaring at the Togekiss, shaking its head to overcome the need to sleep. The Togekiss began to move forward to use Double Edge, and it jolted forwards, when the Riolu suddenly vanished, and the Togekiss looked around frantically, trying to find the Riolu.

Suddenly, the Riolu reappeared on the Togekiss' flank, and the flying egg Pokemon turned round, and as the Riolu leapt forward to unleash the Force Palm attack, the Togekiss slammed its body into the Riolu. The humanoid dog Pokemon went cascading to the floor, and rolled backwards for several seconds, dust rising into the air as it skidded across the ground. The Riolu was back on its feet within moments, and placed itself in a stance, awaiting the next attack in the battle. Once again a faint aura began to emanate from the Riolu's body as it sped itself up once again.

In response to the Togekiss' Yawn attack, Riolu gave a deep yawn back to him. Riolu's small head lulled to one side sleepily and his long black ears drooped down limply. I saw Riolu's thumb quiver as he fought the urge to put it in his mouth and curl up into a tight ball, to fall asleep. But, as I watched, I realised it would never work. The Riolu was standing bolt upright and it would be very awkward for him to sleep in that position. Then, my prediction came true and the Riolu jolted back alertly, ready to continue the battle, clearly of a clearer and more focused mind than I thought.

"Rio, Rio!" he said, in a sort of battle cry way as Togekiss zig zagged forward, trying to do it's Double Edge. Riolu's palm shot up once more and braced itself for the collision. Togekiss was knocked back, a little off gaurd, but Riolu received the most damage it seemed. He was sent spiralling through the air and slammed hard into the dusty, earthen ground. Dust spat up into the air, hiding the Riolu from view once more. The dust scattered away as the wind carried it and the Riolu came into view. His body gained a faint blue aura once more as he readied himselffor anoter Agility.

"Shit," I muttered. "This thing is getting really fast, really quick," I said looking at Togekiss nervously. "All right, I think I have an idea," I added slowly, still thinking of what to do. It was better if the Togekisss believed I knew what I was doing as that would give her some faith in me. "Ok, Togekiss, I want you to go ahead and use your Follow Me attack," I said as Togekiss gave me a puzzled look. "Then, when Riolu gets really close, use your Ancient Power attack," I said signalling towards the fallen rocks. "If we get lucky, you'll receive a boost and that may help counter his speed issue, if not, don't fret we'll think of something... Ready?"

Kiss, Toge, Toge, Toge, Kiss," she chimed, taunting the eager Riolu. Riolu leaned forward as Togekiss bent his wings inwards and stretched, he looked down at his wrist, pretending to look at a watch, and be disinterested in the Riolu. This seemed to anger the Riolu somewhat as a vulgar vein popped out of his forehead, not receiving the attention he wanted. Togekiss looked at the dusty ground below as she secretly prepared his Ancient Power attack. The large boulders lying around, that had fallen earlier would prove very useful to manipulate. Unknown to the Riolu, the rocks glowed a faint purple colour and twitched slightly. The Riolu would be forced to come close and attack this plan seemed flawless. The rocks would quiver to life and rise to smack Riolu, hopefully halting it's progress. If the rocks produced magical energy, which happened occasionally, the Togekiss would see a huge surge in every stat, attack, special attack, defense, special defense and most importantly, speed.

The Riolu snarled in anger, and charged forward, like a massive blur, as if it were using Extremespeed. The Togekiss had no time to react before a Force Palm slammed into it, sending it cascading into the wall behind it. However, the Togekiss managed to launch the rocks at the Riolu, and they swarmed all around the humanoid dog Pokemon. It began to leap over rock after rock, dodging them, when a rock slammed into its back, and flung it into another rock.

The Riolu went flying backwards, heading towards the edge of the clearing, and dropped off the edge. Talon's eyes widened in shock, and he glanced for a moment at his trainer, before looking back at the battle. The Togekiss floated towards the edge in shock, and stared down the side of the mountain, looking from left to right, trying to find the Riolu, before turning to look at its trainer, shock on its face. It had killed the Riolu. Suddenly, the Riolu flew into the air, landing silently behind the Togekiss, and slammed the Aura Sphere that was in its hands into the Togekiss, sending the flying egg Pokemon flying as the ball zoomed high into the air, before finally exploding. The Togekiss began to fall towards the ground, landing with a thud, before floating shakily back above the ground, glaring at the Riolu.

Riolu could not take anymore of the frustration after that. He charged forward at a blinding speed and streched his palm out, delivering a fairly weak Force Palm. Togekiss flinced slightly and was knocked a little off gaurs but he wasn't hurt too badly. The rocks flew through the air slowly, allowing the swift Riolu to evade them, with difficulty. Riolu mistimed one jump and a larger rock smacked into it, sending him flying t a ridiculous speed, over the edge of the cliff. My heart stopped for a split second as I believed the Pokemon to be dead. It was clear I wasn't the only person or Pokemon to think this as Togekiss soared over, clearly worried about the Riolu. My ranger also ran forward a little, making sure thatthe Pokemon was allright. But, the Riolu hopped over the other side of the cliff, perhaps from a ledge on the other side. A small ball of cobalt blue energy was nestled in his hand and he fired off the Aura Sphere at the Togekiss. My startled Togekiss flinched a little at impact. At least he wasn't using Auta Sphere.

"I think I'm going to use a Super Potion," I said, retrieving it from the back pack. I poured some of the clear liquid into the capsule lid and fed it to Togekiss. She lapped it up greedily and started looking lot better instantly. "Now that you're feeling better, let's try an Aura Sphere of your own, followed by an Extreme Speed. Togekiss opened it's mouth as a dazzling ball of cobalt blue energy came into focus. The ball grew readily bigger as Togekiss prepared herself to make a dash at the speedy riolu.

The Riolu prepared itself as the Togekiss unleashed an Aura Sphere, which was double the size of any the Riolu had created. The Riolu smirked, grabbing the Aura Sphere, and channeled its power into the Togekiss' Aura Sphere, the size of it growing to double what it had currently been. The Riolu screeched with laughter, as the Aura Sphere continued to grow in size. Obviously, it had been holding back a lot, and now it was unleashing it.

The Aura Sphere was now the size of a Charizard, and in one swift move the Aura Sphere was flung at the Togekiss. It had no time to react as the massive Aura Sphere engulfed it, before imploding. The Togekiss shuddered, barely managing to remain afloat, before zooming forward like a blur, slamming its body into the Riolu. The Riolu was flung backwards, landing on the ground, before lumbering back on to its feet once again, and it began laughing at the Togekiss, as if the flying egg Pokemon wasn't even worthy of it. The Riolu then started flexing its muscles, smirking as it did so.

Togekiss fired off the Aura Sphere. As it whizzed through the air I began to release that it was a lot larger than any of the one's Riolu had used previously. I also stopped in my tracks, realisin. that Togekiss was too far away and Riolu would have more than enough time to dodge the attack. But, I was wrong as the ball approached the Riolu it caught the ball between it's two palms and began spinning it causing the Aura Sphere to grow even larger. It slowly grew in size and I began to panic slightly. If Riolu fired that ack at my Togekiss it would be a lot more powerful than before, and faster too. Then, to my dismay, Riolu fired the ball, that was now larger than me at this stage, at the Togekiss. It ripped through the air at a speed evuivalent to a bolt of lightning. It smacked into my Togekiss, hard, very hard, knocking it backwards a huge amount. Togekiss looked a lot less healthy than she did a second ago and I grew slightly worried. I wasn't sure if we'd be able to fend off this monstrous Riolu for much longer. Then, Togekiss shot forward and whalloped the Riolu with an impressive Extreme Speed.

"All right, Togekiss," I smiled as he stared my way. He paused for a second and returned a smile to me. "Try and be brave. When this is all over I'm going to reward you really well," I said with a smile. Togekiss gave me an inquisitive look, eager to know what. "Haha, you know very well that I'm not going to tell you," I teased. Myself and Togekiss rarely kept secrets from each other so when we actually did it got quite hard to bare the anticipation. He looked at me with a smile. "Now, as for attacks, let's see..." I paused. "Extreme Speed was quite effective so we'll stick with that, and, let's try tto use a Water Pulse beforehand," I said tactfully.

Togekiss opened his mouth and squirted out a powerful torrent of water, that changed colour slightly ad it shot towards the Riolu, attempting to dazzle and confuse the Fighting type. This was Water Pulse's secondary effect, adding confusion status. I really hoped that this attack would strike the Riolu, or at least confuse him as I would need an edge in this battle. Togekiss' wings shot upwards as he prepared himself for another Extreme Speed. He arched his back slowly, like a rocket awaiting lift off.

"Afterwards try another Roost. We're going to need to keep your health up. Not just for the battle, but because I care about you aswell," I smiled. "Try flying somewhere high and out of the Riolu's reach. He is rather speedy and smart aswell as agile so this may be tricky, but at least try and recover some damage," I said loud enough for him to hear.

The Togekiss unleashed a pulse of water which surged towards the Riolu. The humanoid dog Pokemon braced itself as the water supposedly splashed over it, and the Togekiss burst forward, like a blur, but slower than it had done before. The Riolu smirked, slamming the small ball of water in its hands into the Togekiss. The Togekiss still crashed into the Riolu, sending it skidding backwards, however the Togekiss now was floating very shakily, as if it were drunk in some way, or confused. The Water Pulse had backfired on it, and now the Togekiss was confused. That was not good for Jay.

The Riolu was up on its feet again, and began flexing its muscles again, using Bulk Up once more to strengthen it yet again. The Togekiss shook its head, trying to move somewhere high to avoid the Riolu, but failed due to being disorientated, and began to heal itself, but the Riolu was not going to let the Togekiss rest, and burst forward, slamming its palm into the Togekiss. The Togekiss remained still, trying to recover its health, and the Riolu began to unleash a barrage of Force Palms upon the Togekiss, which definitely wouldn't help with its confused state. However, the Togekiss continued to heal itself whilst the Riolu unleashed Force Palm after Force Palm.

Riolu braced itself as the moderately powerful pulse of clear, blue water hit it. It didn't look to be hurt much at all, infact, it almost lookedd like Riolu was storing it and as Togekiss shot forward, slightly slower than before, he collided with the ball of swishing water. The confusion side effect seemed to take hold as Togekiss retreated. He shook his head woozily as he instinctively retreated and began using his Roost attack. Riolu was not having any of this stalling and healing process and charged forward, hitting my Togekiss with a relentless stream of Force Palms. Togekiss healed all of the damage that was being done exacty and all this was proving was that the Riolu didn't plan ahead and he would soon grow tired and be less quick and alert.

"More Force Palms," I sighed slowly. "Will this Pokemon ever give up on that attack," I added callously. "Okay, Togekiss. Let's try use a Shadow Ball and then we'll try and follow that up with a final Air Slash," I said, sensing the battle drawing nearer and nearer to a close. "Are you ready?" I asked Togekiss, just like all of the many times before. Except this time, I need him to be absolutely certain. "Now, I know your head is probably ringing but try and avoid the nasty side effects of confusion. Just focus on each and every move individually and, if they don't work, or you forget what move to use next, just forget abouyt it. I know you can do it," I said in a corny manner. God, I regretted saying that immediately afterwards and I could feel my cheeks flush a rosy red colour. That was definitely one of the more worse parts of speaking before thinking, something I commonly did. This incident also reminded me of when I had first received my starter Pokemon, Clefable, as a Cleffa. When I asked the nice receptionist for a Clefairy, completely forgetting that Cleffa existed. After receiving Cleffa it sure as hell made sure that I never ever forgot that Cleffa existed again. He constantly made his presence clear and was very cheeky for such a small Pokemon. But, I loved him to pieces.

Thinking of my freshly captured Cleffa caused a plethora of memories to come rushing back to me. I remember my first battle few battles with my Cleffa and our horrible losing streak. There was a battle against a trainer and his Spoink, a battle against a Buizel and his trainer, who dressed up as a medical doctor. There were several battles against a fierce Chimchar, under the ownership of one of my firends, Monbrey. Cleffa lost mainly due to his lackluster speed but the little rebel managed to keep fighting until he evolved into the most charming Clefairy. As a Clefairy I noticed a huge improvement in his battling abilities. At this stage he performed rather well against a very powerful Scyther, and he managed to defeat his first Pokemon, a Kirlia, through strategy and experience. Then Clefairy evolved into my now fsithful Clefable, who follows me everywhere. The pair of us are inseperable to say the least, eating, drinking and sleeping together. At the thought of my prized starter my hand reached to his Pokeball, tempting me to summon him. But, I didn't. There would be time to use him later on, but now, I had to concentrate on the battle, and finishing off this Riolu. Well, bringing him low enough on health to make the capture easier.

Togekiss shook his head lazily, in concentration. Blobs of darkness were sucked from each and every corner nearby as the Togekiss flapped his broad wings. The dark black, grey and purple shadows came from nearby, making it seem a little brighter than it already was and the shadows compressed themselves into one, large, and steadily growing ball.

"Now Togekiss, try combine Air Slash and Shadow Ball. As you rush forward to swipe at Riolu, fire the growing ball, and slash with your wings. Got it?" Togekiss nodded in concentration.

Togekiss shot forward at a blinding speed, forgetting the charging time for Air Slash to be most effective and fired the slick Shadow ball. Then, in a flurry of speed he caught up with ther shadow ball and sliced right through it with his wing, creating a huge wave of concentratedshadows and darkness. The Riolu froze as the huge wave approached him. I knew there was no chance of him evading the attack, which brought a somewhat cocky smile to my face. The swirling mass of darkness washed over the Riolu, drowning him in a blanket of darkness as my hand reached for one of my last Park Balls. I held the ball tightly and, with a grin, threw it into the swirling mass of purples, greys and black colours, hoping to capture the Riolu. This persistent fighter was going to be mine. Well, if everything worked as planned he would.
