"I know, Clara, but... ugh!" Argent spoke into his mobile phone, waiting for his fiancée to shut up. Once she was started on something, she didn't easily let it go. She pounced on everything Argent said like a cat on a mouse, and Argent had a large job trying to counter her without making her angry. She often raised her voice in order to sound more intimidating and angry, but Argent always spoke at the same level to her, giving his voice that much more of an edge - even though it was quiet, it was calm, collected, and that made his point come across a whole lot smoother, and Argent had used this to his advantage sometimes. He could be loud when he wanted to be - he was capable of a lot of things, but never tried to cut anyone into pieces. Argent sighed - this time, his fiancée was rambling on about how she barely ever got out of the house, and he was at the National Park all the time, exploring the wilderness and meeting so many different Pokémon, but that wasn't his fault - that was his job.

"Clara, I've said this so many times - it's my job to go out into the wilderness and meet Pokémon for the sake of other people-- no, I'm not being selfish. Anyway, who said you couldn't leave the house anyway? I never have said anything like that. Go explore Johto if you want to - go shopping, try to find other trainers to battle, I don't know. Don't complain to me that you're trapped in the house, because we both know that it's not true. I can get you chained to the walls if you really want, but I'm not going to argue this point anymore. Get out if you want, I don't care. You have no responsibilities at home - it's not like we have a child or anything that needs taken care of, so just go outside and explore if you really really want to, no-one's stopping you. If you don't mind, I actually do have work to do. Bye, Clara-- yes, I love you too. Bye now." Argent hung up, sighing as he replaced his mobile back into his pocket. He wished that there'd be something he could do at the moment - for once, he actually had zero paperwork to be doing, and hadn't been assigned to a run for a while.

Someone rushed outside the outpost - a secretary, of course. "Hey, Argent. Do you mind taking someone on a run? It's through the Botanic Gardens, so you'd need to get there first. His name's Jay: here, take these files." She handed him a folder full of files, and he sighed a little more, accepting them. Now that he had gotten a run, he should try to get there. For once, his Chimecho wasn't right beside him like she usually was - she was out and about somewhere in the Park, like most of his Pokémon who liked to situate themselves in certain areas - they made sure they didn't encounter any other trainers so that they wouldn't be battled - they were rather smart like that. Chimey was probably around Meteor Valley - she enjoyed chatting with the other Chimecho there, and Cassidy the Clefable often hung out there too. Calling out through his mind-link, both Chimey and Cassidy appeared in front of his eyes within a few minutes. Argent got Cassidy to Teleport them to the Botanic Gardens outpost.

"I suppose we'll just have to wait for Jay now."

"And then I said, 'what'cha mean chicken? It was a bagel!'" I said t Porygon-Z. Naturally, he burst out into a fit of laughter as I just concluded the best joke ever to be written. His smooth, divided body swept past me as he saw the Ranger's Outpost just up ahead. It was similar to every single one that was going these days - small, wooden hut with a chimney that always seemed to be puffy out soft grey spirals of smoke. There was noise coming from inside and I could see silhouettes moving on in the background, but couldn't make out who they were. Today, we were going to the Botanic Gardens, a monumentous occasion because it was my first time going here as a Trainer and not a Ranger.

"Hmm, best get out the disc then. Kangaskhan or Tropius first?"

Porygon-Z gave me a fleeting look which I regonised immidiately. Clearly, he prefered his own type, Normal, to the others. I noticed some light grey clouds lingering about above as I withdrew a Pokeplayer from my backpack, a Kangaskhan Voice Disc and inserted it in. There was a low growl that lasted no more than twenty or thirty seconds. The cry started to die down just as I saw my soon-to-be Ranger come into view. He had two Pokemon near him that I recognised. One was Chimecho, a floating Psychic type, and the other was Clefable, the Pokemon I had chosen as my starter when I first got a Pokemon. Ah, the memories.

As he drew close enough to be within talking range, I initiated conversation. "Hey, there."

"And then I said, 'what'cha mean chicken? It was a bagel!'"

Argent heard a voice in the distance, and looked away from his Chimecho towards where the noise had came from. He could see two figures - one was floating just like Argent's own Chimecho, and the other was walking normally, as he was obviously human. As they came closer, Argent could see that the floating figure was none other than a Porygon-Z, an extremely intriguing kind of Pokémon, and one that Argent would love to own just so he could see how they behaved - or to bring to his uncle, as he was indeed a very smart man. Argyros Silverswift had attended Knight Pokémon University away in Sinnoh, and had been a very serious student. In time, he had learned a lot about Pokémon, and became an independent researcher when he had graduated. He liked to research different species, and Argent sometimes caught Pokémon to send to him for researching purposes, and some actually went to live with his uncle - Argent was very trusting of him, and he supposed that he just didn't have enough room for all of them at home. He could have brought a multitude of them to the National Park, but he thought that perhaps he would have a hard time stopping them from intervening in runs.

It was best to do what he had done, but he wasn't dwelling on that right now. He was simply waiting for the guy to come closer - he recognised the trainer now as Jay, the one he was supposed to be taking on the run. At any rate, Jay was approaching steadily towards the Botanic Gardens gate, and Argent breathed in the fresh air slowly - as he had pointed out to others so many times, the Botanic Gardens was his favourite place of all time, and so definitely his favourite area within the National Park, although others were pretty fantastic too. Today, Argent was decked out in flip-flops, three-quarter-lengths, a long-sleeved white shirt and he even had sunglasses in his satchel for if it got sunny - now, however, it didn't seem to be such good weather. It was quite chilly and there was a lot of cloud cover, so Argent found himself wishing that he should have perhaps put on some warmer clothes - who knew, though? The weather could change at any moment, and it could become sunny and warm soon enough. He hoped that that would happen, although he wasn't truly expecting it.

Soon enough, after he had played his Kangaskhan Voice Disk, Jay had finally gotten to the gate, and had spoken first - Argent was still confused as to how everyone got to speak before him, but he supposed he didn't mind so much. "Hey, there," Jay said. Argent could now burst into conversation.

"Hello, there, Jay - I assume you are Jay, right? In any case, I'm Argent, your Ranger for today, and I suppose I'll be taking you through the Botanic Gardens - tell me, are you a Ranger here? I think I've seen you working around these parts before, although I could just be rambling on and confusing you with someone else - I tend to do that, you know. Anyway, this is Chimey the Chimecho, and Cassidy, my Clefable. Both are going to be my Ranger assistants for the duration of your run - excuse the unoriginal nicknames, but I suppose... meh. And this Porygon-Z you have with you must be Cyber Duck! I have your files with me, and I do enjoy the nicknames you've given your Pokémon. In any case, I suppose you want to get started as soon as possible? Let's do it."

After his short tirade, Argent led Jay on past the gate, and together they embarked upon a small adventure. Argent heard rustling in the bushes as he passed by, but when he looked, nothing seemed to be there. It was only a short while before Jay seemingly had his first encounter. Another rustling bush, a low growl and a high-pitched yap, and something brown and furry leapt out from behind a shrub. It seemed to be something like a terrier puppy, and it had a small coat-like thing draped on its back - although young, this Lillipup would probably make a good battler.

"It isn't a Kangaskhan, but it is a Lillipup! Do you want to battle it?" Argent inquired inquisitively like a hippopotamus.

In any case, I suppose you want to get started as soon as possible? Let's do it," the Ranger said in one long, non-stop train of speech. I kept trying to answer those questions, but he kept talking so I let him be.

"I'd be glad to get going."

And with that we set off past the twin-structured gates and into the area known as the botanic gardens. It started off as a broad, earthen path surrounded by hundreds of different bushes and plants shooting up from the ground. It was such a lovely sight seeing all those different colours and sizes, but they al seemed to mesh together. As itwas Autumn, the path was littered with so many different style leaves that I couldn't help but kick about as we walked on.

Argent stopped, then I did, as we heard a quiet kind of rustling in the bushes beside us. There was a little yelp as a cute puppy popped out and looked up at us with big, round eyes.

"It isn't a Kangaskhan, but it is a Lillipup! Do you want to battle it?"

"Nah, I'll pass. I don't mind purchasing a Pokedoll if we can't pass by safely."

"I'd be glad to get going," Jay had said before they went off. Argent thought that he should remember it in the past tense like that before recounting the experience of when they walked down the path in the crisp autumn air that the autumn had brought them because autumn was crispy and brown and red like that. Argent walked down teh road with his bestest buddy Jay and den a brown thang jumped out of teh bushaz and Argent wuz liek WTF IS DIS SHIT WHY NO GO AWAY STUPID PUPPY TANG except he did unt say it brcause he weus a vry nice man indud and he fund adt he cuzmt niggle my wargle in the herpaoompaloompa wazzleville. In any case, Argent just thought that he'd walk along, and after his short question, Jay had replied in the negative. Argent thought that the response was very negative because he didn't want to battle the poor Lillipup, and it was very mean of him not to want to battle such a cute thing that didn't even have a roof over its head - it just lived under trees and shrubs and things and needed to be adopted for its own health like a Gellert on Neopets because they are so cute especially the turquoise ones.

ooc note; I promise I'll be literate from this point in the post. Anyway, the short and short of it was that Jay hadn't wanted to do battle with the Lillipup, and upon hearing it, the Lillipup drooped its ears and looked up appealingly to Jay, putting on its best puppy eyes in the hope that Jay would accept it. However, it seemed like Jay was going to just try and make an escape attempt, and the Lillipup looked like a very sad dog indeed. Argent felt sorry for the small thing, but he did have to go with what Jay wanted, so he turned around, refusing Jay's money for a Pokédoll as it wasn't necessary to get one. The Lillipup whined in a depressed way as the two of them turned their backs upon the thing and Argent led Jay away from the pup. However, the dog was having none of it - it hadn't tried to appeal to the trainer for the stupid human to turn around and walk away from it! Running at breakneck pace to catch up, the Lillipup yapped wildly. Once it had gotten to the back of Jay's heels, it moved alongside to the left side of his legs, and trotted alongside him obediently.

Argent, noticing this, looked down towards the small dog. "Looks like you've got yourself another pal. Let's keep moving; if the Lillipup gets bored, it'll just go look for something else to do. Don't concern yourself with it for the moment."

As they walked on, eventually another Pokémon presented itself to the two of them - a low growl from the Lillipup alerted it to that, and the stench the thing gave off: it was absolutely disgusting. It was like a half-formed rafflesia plant, with some kind of strange powder being emitted from its flower.

"A Gloom. What a suitable Pokémon for the weather!" Argent said cheerfully, distracting himself from the smell. "Bellossom are quite beautiful. You should catch this Gloom to evolve it into one!"

As we began to move on, the Lilipup presented me with the cutest, most sympathetic look ever. I saw the look of rejection in its chetnut eyes and realised I couldn't just leave him be. Alas, I moved on begrudgingly, a yelp and the quick pitter patter of little feet arrived upon us. I saw the little puppy's tail wag happily and I realised it didn't want to battle just to chill with us. I rubbed its soft fuzzy head and we moved on, a little happier than before. Its presence was quite uplifting for some reason.

"Looks like you've got yourself another pal. Let's keep moving; if the Lillipup gets bored, it'll just go look for something else to do. Don't concern yourself with it for the moment."

After a few minutes of walking along the earthen path, I heard the little Lilipup growl, clearly uneased about something. "What is it, boy?" I asked as he began barking at a nearby thorny bush. Something very depressed-looking shuffled out of the bushes and looked at us. "Gloom," the blue creature that looked to be wearing a dull red hat of flowers said, gloomily (surprise, surprise). The stench from it was awful but I knew it was Gloom's natural scent and I couldn't do anything to change that. Porygon-Z looked down at it with disgust and I knew the rest of my team would do.

"A Gloom. What a suitable Pokémon for the weather!" Argent said cheerfully, distracting himself from the smell. "Bellossom are quite beautiful. You should catch this Gloom to evolve it into one!"

"Sorry, Argent. The smell wouldn't bode down well with the rest of my Pokemon. Let's leave this Gloom in peace."

"Sorry, Argent. The smell wouldn't bode down well with the rest of my Pokemon. Let's leave this Gloom in peace."

"I think you're right, Jay. Let's try to move past and see what happens," Argent said. As they walked past, the cute little Lillipup looked viciously towards the Gloom, obviously disliking it for some reason. Argent supposed that it was the smell - it probably messed up all of Lillipup's senses, and no mutt was grateful for that kind of insult. The Gloom looked daggers back at the Lillipup, its dreamy expression melting completely of its face. It stopped bravely as they walked past, and it shouted at the top of its voice angrily, obviously upset that the two humans were choosing to leave it behind - the stupid-looking Lillipup got to travel with Jay, why couldn't it? Of course, the thing didn't understand that the Lillipup didn't actually belong to Jay, but it didn't entirely enjoy whatever was going on between them - in other words, the Gloom was extremely jealous of them both. It wanted a trainer too, and was not prepared to let them pass without a battle, at the very least. However, it seemed that Jay wasn't to be stopped by the silly plant.

Money floated out of his pocket - about 500 Pokédollars in all - of its own accord, and each of the notes began to writhe in the air, forming a kind of outline and then a shape, which seemed to be something akin to a Clefairy. Suddenly, there was a flash of white and the notes had turned into a magical Pokédoll! How wonderfully magic! The Pokédoll did a little dance in the air, before floating to the ground softly. As it hit the ground, however, its eyes began to glow a red colour and it flung itself at the Gloom. The Gloom, scared to death of the money-doll-thing, ran away, letting itself be chased by the demonic creature. As it ran, there was a clear cry in the air: "GLOOOOOM!" Clearly, the Gloom was frightened out of its wits, but Argent just chuckled light-heartedly, trying to make the best of the situation. Most likely the doll would rip the Gloom's throat out and then eat the rest of its body afterwards like some kind of zombie, but Argent wasn't going to concern himself about that or the origin of the magical money.

As they walked away down the earthen path, Argent whistled lightly, Chimey and Cassidy floating and bouncing respectively on either side of him - it was almost like the A-Team, only with floating and bouncing instead of heavy violence... and Pokémon instead of weird tough guys... and three people instead of four... and no particular name for the team. In any case, Argent was walking down the path with Jay behind him, the Lillipup and Porygon-Z on either side of him as well. It was quite a nice and refreshing walk in Argent's opinion, and his Pokémon were certainly enjoying themselves - Cassidy was using BubbleBeam to provide bubbles, and she made a game where both her and Chimey had to pop as many bubbles as they could. However, Chimey kept cheating as she used Psychic to pop more than one at once, whilst Cassidy was sticking to the traditional rules of prodding them to make them burst into nothingness, the particles that once made them up falling to the ground, unseen by almost anything.

Again, the next encounter only presented itself due to the Lillipup getting a little bored - it had smelled another wild Pokémon nearby, and had dove into a bush in order to chase it out. Barking and yapping madly, mixed in with some scared mewing noises, the Lillipup ran around the bush, chasing a cream-and-pink cat-like Pokémon, which could only be recognised as a Skitty. Argent smiled at the cute little thing - it'd make a good sidekick, appearance-wise. It also had quite a neat ability in its Normalize, which made all of its attacks Normal-type moves... however, that gave it a severe disadvantage against Ghost-types and types that resisted Normal-type moves.

"Again, it's not a Kangaskhan... disappointing. However, it's a Skitty! Do you want to battle it?" Argent asked politely, watching the two run around the growth together.

"I think you're right, Jay. Let's try to move past and see what happens," Argent said.

We began to move on, after the two Pokemon shared venemous looks with each other. I grinned a little, but was forced to hand over money when the foul-smelling plant wouldn't leave us alone. The money jumped out of my hands and began to coil around itself, forming a tightly packed ball, and then, with a 'popping' sound it turned into a red-eyed demonic Clefairy doll. The Gloom screeched and began to flee as the doll chased it around. I was wondering what the hell was going on until I saw that there was no need to wonder, or something...!

A few moments later, Lilipup's head shot up as it looked into the bushes. There was a hissing sound, rushing sound and some meowing before a pink cat shot out from the bushes, followed by the little dog Pokemon.

"Again, it's not a Kangaskhan... disappointing. However, it's a Skitty! Do you want to battle it?"

"Nah, but I have a good feeling about the next encounter."

I gave a sharp whistle and the Lilipup came shooting back, Skitty nowhere in sight. "Let's get out of here before it comes back."

Ranger Argent Silverswift produced a magical magical money Pokédoll from little Jay's piggy bank, and he did a little twirl and flung it straight to where the Skitty had ran. The Jigglypuff-resembling Pokédoll hit the Skitty square on its crescent head, and it launched the small pink cat into the air almost as if it had been shot from a catapult. It yowled as it was flung away into the vast expanse of the sky, bouncing off a few clouds on the way. There was a pop-tart stuck on one cloud, however, and the Skitty's body crashed straight through it, but the pop-tart clung on. Also, the Skitty hit a rainbow on its journey through the sky... and I suppose you can imagine what happened as it was flung ever upwards.

Cheerfully turning away from the Skitty, Argent led Jay on through his run, but they were intercepted by some extremely strange green gremlin deer thing that Argent had never seen in his life before, but somehow recognised as VIRIZION, OVERLORD OF UNOVA AND ONE OF THE THREE MUSKETEER LEGENDARY POKÉMON WHO WERE AMAZING AND LIKE THE REAL LIFE MUSKETEERS ONLY THERE ARE FOUR OF THEM BECAUSE OF THAT NASTY KELDEO CHICK WHO DISAPPEARED ONCE AND THEN CAME BACK BUT ISN'T ACTUALLY OFFICIALLY RELEASED BY NINTENDO SO THEREFORE WE CAN'T HAVE THEM IN OUR BLACK/WHITE GAMES OH NO. At any rate, the little horsey looked at them dangerously, and Argent suggested that they backed away, or that Jay take a picture in order to startle it into leaving.

HOWEVER, WONDERFUL MAGIC HAPPENED AGAIN. The Virizion's eyes began to glow rainbow-coloured, and rays of light shot out from the essence of its being. Simply put, Argent, Jay and co. were knocked out and their minds were sent elsewhere in this wonderful dream world alternate universe shit that only exists in sci-fi movies or fantasy novels and stuff.

But it looked exactly the same as the Botanic Gardens - however, there was a big difference! That can be revealed later or something because I'm feeling lazy right now, but the Virizion was still standing in front of them.

"Take a picture of me, Jay, you sexy hunk! Take a picture like you mean it!" Virizion cried, attempting to pose in an alluring manner - Argent wasn't into bestiality, though.

"Take the picture before it starts raping us," Argent suggested helpfully.

Suddenly, a green beat came shooting out of nowhere. It reminded me of a deer... err a Deerling but it was much bigger and had a majestic, almost arrogant look to it. Its eyes seemed to shine unusual shades or red, orange, yellow, green, indigo and violet; the rainbow of course. My Ranger looked somewhat distraught by the mesmerising eyes.

"Take a picture of me, Jay, you sexy hunk! Take a picture like you mean it!" Virizion cried, attempting to pose in an alluring manner - Argent wasn't into bestiality, though.

After a moment's pause, I shuddered. I decided it was best to do what this freaky Pokemon wanted and to get the hell out of here. I whipped out my old-fashioned camera and snapped a few quick shots.

Jay, taking out his camera and snapping a quick shot of the Virizion, seemed to be hasty in making it leave. The Virizion winked at Jay, hopped over to him briefly and licked his face thoroughly, and then bounded away from the area. Argent looked around - what the hell had changed? He knew that he wasn't in the real National Park anymore, but it seemed that nothing was different about this... other... place. The Virizion, as it left, cried out, "I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU, JAY! YOU MADE ME FEEL SPECIAL AGAIN!" The Legendary Musketeer was soon out of sight, however, and out of earshot from either of them. Argent, sighing, moved onwards from the area, leading Jay behind him, as well as the small Lillipup that had also gotten transported to this other area. Jay had also decided to play his Voice Disk again, and Argent listened for the cry of Kangaskhan - however, all he heard was, "Yo, bitches, get ova' here!"

That must be part of what was going on - cries were interpreted as speech in this world, and that would be very strange for the both of them.

As they proceeded, soon enough, a Kangaskhan had appeared before them. It was an extremely large, brown creature, with intimidating bright red eyes. It had a hard skull as far as Argent could see, and its belly was a rather creamy colour, with a pouch where a smaller Kangaskhan was being cared for. Its claws were sharp and pristine, catching glimmers of sunlight on the shiny surfaces. "Bitch, who called?" she asked irritably. Argent supposed that she had just been woken up by the cry, and replied calmly, although slightly unnerved by the large creature.

"We were transported here by Virizion, and we're just trying to continue on with Jay's run as normal, is that okay?"

"Eh, sure, 'slong as he don't try no battling with me, no sir. If he tries, his 'mons are gonna find themselves in a whole load of pay-un, yes siree."

"Ah, but what if he wants to capture you?"

"I'd like to see that bitch try."

"Golly gosh, these Kangaskhan are awfully impolite," Chimey whispered to Cassidy eloquently.

Argent turned to Jay, smiling. "Do you want to battle the Kangaskhan, Jay?"

"Laddie, I warn ye nae ta do it! Tha' Kanga's gon' squash yer friends flat," the Lillipup warned, in a surprisingly Scottish accent.

After I had lowered the camera, and placed it down and back into my pocket, I was alarmed to see the shining green deer-like creature right in front of me. Just seconds ago it had been at least ten metres away and in the short space of time from me taking the picture to lowering down the camera, it was by my side. At first, I thought it may have been angry with me for startling it with the bright flash that would've come from the camera, perhaps Virizon was not used to human presence or cameras for that matter. It had an odd-somewhat dopey look on its face as its head came closer and a bright pink tongue came out and licked me. The Lilipup that had accompanied us growled at the creature, but I waved him off. The Pokemon was just showing me its satisfaction or something like that. Pretty rare for a Legendary Pokemon especially to do that.

As it started to bound away, it called out to me. "I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU, JAY! YOU MADE ME FEEL SPECIAL AGAIN!" The words seemed a little funny and I could feel my head sinning. I was staggering a little and then as I tried to speak, I noticed my speech was all muddled up.

"Mayb-b-beee I sit down," I struggled to say, feeling like even more of an alcoholic. I looked up to the sound of a voice, and everything went back to normal. My vision was fine, no more running colours and then a voice clear as glass spoke. It was an unusual voice - it didn't sound human for some reason.

    "Yo, bitches, get ova' here!"

I looked up to see a large, brown Pokemon that was the symbolism of maternity. Its body looked old and battered and I noticed it had a deep pooch attached to its stomach. A cute, inquisitive grey head popped out and looked at me with wonderment. It cooed a little as I gaped at it. This was the Pokemon I had come here for. I whipped out my Pokedex, I just had to be certain that it really was Kangaskhan...

Kangaskhan, the Parent Pokemon. It raises its offspring in its belly pouch. It lets the baby play only when it feels safe. If it is safe, the young gets out of the belly pouch to play. The adult keeps a close eye on the youngster. The female raises its offspring in a pouch on its belly. It is skilled at attacking using Comet Punch. If you come across a young Kangaskhan playing by itself, you must never disturb it or attempt to catch it. The baby Pokémon's parent is sure to be in the area, and it will become violently enraged at you. To avoid crushing the baby it carries in its pouch, it always sleeps standing up.

Wow, this definitely was the Pokemon I wanted. The warning about it protecting its young no matter what would surely be most helpful, same with the warning about Comet Punch. If I could remember correctly, Comet Punch was a powerful, yet speedy Fighting type move that Kangaskhan and few other Pokemon can learn. It requires a lot of concentration and of course natural strength. In turn, that meant that this Kangaskhan would surely be strong, which is exactly the kind of Pokemon I needed for my team. Besides, it would make a great babysitter for anytime I had to go out and wasn't in the mood to mind my Pokemon... all forty three of them, or i could run a babysitting service. They seem most profitable...

I was snapped out of my trance for yet another get-rich scheme that I was beginning to form by the sound of my Ranger's voice. "We were transported here by Virizion, and we're just trying to continue on with Jay's run as normal, is that okay?" he asked the Kangaskhan. I sure hoped that Kangaskhan would say yes, then we'd most likely have a chance to battle it, and then capture it of course!

Of course, my hopes had started to diminish almost instantly when the Kangaskhan replied, in that very southern (and not black) voice, "Eh, sure, 'slong as he don't try no battling with me, no sir. If he tries, his 'mons are gonna find themselves in a whole load of pay-un, yes siree." In that one sentence, I was torn between annoyed at the fact that the Kangaskhan didn't want to battle, and then excitement as I realised that the Pokedex wasn't wrong and that this sure was one tough Pokemon.

"Ah, but what if he wants to capture you?" Argent asked one final question.

"I'd like to see that bitch try." I felt my jaw drop open a little when Kangaskhan said this. How rude of a mother to say that in front of their child, but the child hiding in the pooch didn't seem in the least bit bothered by this. In fact, it seemed to be a little angry-looking itself. WEEEEIRD.

"Golly gosh, these Kangaskhan are awfully impolite," Chimecho whispered to Argent.

Argent nodded and then turned to me - "Do you want to battle the Kangaskhan, Jay?"

As I was about to reply, I was interrupted by the little Lilpup, who had almost completely forgotten about.

"Laddie, I warn ye nae ta do it! Tha' Kanga's gon' squash yer friends flat," the Lillipup warned, in a surprisingly Scottish accent.

Ignoring the talking Pokemon and the fact that I was clearly going crazy, I decided to just inititate the battle already.

"Togekiss, come on out and smack it with an Aura Sphere!"

After tossing my Pokeball into the air, a beautiful and elegant evolution of Togepi, the Egg Pokemon, came out. He did a little spin as he heard my commands and prepared to attack the Kangaskhan. Togekiss' wings flapped hard and a glob of swirling navy energy materialised. It had a really deep shade to it and seemed to be swirling around in a counter-clockwise direction. The sphere of energy rapidly expanded in size until it was quite large, about half as big as Togekiss himself. This was a powerful Fighting Type move coming from Togekiss, a Pokemon with great Special Attack. As I watched Togekiss fire off the swirling sphere straight at Kangaskhan, I smiled a little. One of the properties of Aura Sphere was that it never missed.

As soon as Togekiss has sent off the Aura Sphere, he got to work on creating a Thunder Wave. This attack was usually a small jolt of electrical energy sent at the opponent, it never did much damage but it made the opponent much slower and often they would be first into a spasm of muscle twitching, making them unable to move for very brief spells of time. Inside Togekiss' gaping mouth was a ball of cackling sparks. The ball was hard to see in the light, but as Kangaskhan was distracted by the Aura Sphere, Thunder Wave had a great chance of hitting and parylising Kangaskhan.

Jay seemed to be ignoring everything that was going on, clearly convinced that he was starting to go crazy, but Argent knew that he wasn't. Feeling sorry for the young man who just wanted to go on a run without anything strange happening, Argent simply watched, wondering what Jay would do in order to capture the Kangaskhan - Argent also wondered something else: if this was an alternate universe or something, when they got sent back, would the Pokémon captured by Jay end up being captured, or would it all have been a waste? Argent had no idea, but he wasn't going to try and confuse or upset Jay.

"Togekiss, come on out and smack it with an Aura Sphere!" Jay cried into the air, and the Kangaskhan simply watched him coldly.

He simply tossed a Poké Ball away into the air, and in a flash of white light, a Togekiss materialised, gracefully swooping down in a graceful kind of thingymajig which I can't be bothered naming, and neither could Argent. Togekiss was the evolved, elegant form of Togepi, the Egg Pokémon. There were several blue and red shapes that added to the charm and simplicity of the Normal- and Flying-type Pokémon that flew before them all, but the Kangaskhan wasn't to be impressed, apparently. The Kangaskhan simply glared towards the Togekiss, almost as if it was ready to kick some chicken ASS and fry it up for dinner.

"Oh no you di-un't!" the Kangaskhan said, putting one hand on her hip and one hand out in front, one clawed digit wagging from side to side as she spoke. She watched as the Togekiss began to prepare a swirling blue orb between his wings, and it gradually got bigger. The Kangaskhan was aware that Aura Sphere, a powerful Fighting-type move, couldn't miss, but that didn't mean that she couldn't stop it before it hit her properly. Planning things in her mind, she almost wasn't ready before the Aura Sphere was said, but not without a little side-note from Togekiss.

"Thou art a cruel Pocket Monster, Kangasire, and I shall do all that is within power mine to stop thy tyrannical plans of running away to that place whence you came, as companion and trainer mine hath declared that he has need for you, and thou shalt not escape whenever I have anything to do with it, as I am much more powerful than thou art, and thou canst not stop me from achieving the goals which I have set out to achieve. Thou shalt be captured!" With that, the Togekiss sent off his blue sphere, but the Kangaskhan was ready for some action. The ball seemed to have been blasting towards Kangaskhan, but with an almighty spin, the Kangaskhan's foot began to glow and she raised it high, slamming it straight into the centre of the Aura Sphere as it arrived, and it did not hurt her at all.

However, as she had been distracted from what was going on with Togekiss, he was able to charge up something that would, for certain, do something nasty to Kangaskhan - a crackling yellow ring of electricity had been produced by the Pokémon, and he had sent it off as soon as he could - as the Aura Sphere dissipated, the ring crashed straight on target: Kangaskhan's chest. Gasping slightly, the Kangaskhan began to crackle with electricity, and her movements were slowed as she attempted to regain her balance, obviously off-putted by the impact of the Thunder Wave straight after the Mega Kick she had carried out.

    "She's paralysed!" Argent exclaimed.

    @Buoysel.

Thou shalt be captured!" Togekiss cried in an oddly-shakespearian way that left my jaw slightly agape for a few seconds as I was completely stunned. I tried to say something, but just couldn't. Instead, I had to make do with watching Togekiss use his moves, which started off firstly as an Aura Sphere. I saw Togekiss zoom in close, and then fire off the deep blue ball known as Aura Sphere. It sailed through the air, but Kangaskhan saw this and I wasn't too surprised to see Kangaskhan raise one powerful foot into the air and bring it crashing into the ball, making it explode into a blue of colours that faded away into nothingness moments later.

The words of the Pokedex from earlier rang out in my ears and I rezlised that Kangaskhan would most likely try and play a more defensicve role, as it usually tended to do. The protection of its baby was so vital to the Kangaskhan that she would sacrifice her own life to save the little baby Kangaskhan, or worse, she'd be forced to flee in fear of what could happen to her baby. But, in all fairness, she had ever right to be worried about her little baby Kangaskhan. Kangaskhan weren't only just extremely rare Pokemon but when poachers did discover them hundreds of years ago, they fund out that their skin was extremely tough and durable, designed to take many hits. Poachers hunted down so many Kngaskhan to use them as armour or to sell them on in the black markets for a very high price. This helped bring Kangaskhan and its relatives to a very distinct minority, almost extinguishing them completely. I'd hate to think what would happen if another Pokemon species went extinct. It truely was a sad thing, not to mention that even to this day, poachers enterred the few retreats that Pokemon like Kangaskhan had, such as areas of wildlife conservation - mainly the Safari Zone in a region called Kanto and also here in the National Park, an island in the middle of God knows where.

I looked up to see a little ring of cackling yellow sparks whizz by my face and straight into the Kangaskhan, who had used up all of her energy while trying to destroy the Aura Sphere attack. The Tunder Wave smacked into the oddly-humanlike Pokemon right int he chest, causing her to momentarily lose her balance.

    "She's paralysed!" Argent exclaimed.

"Good job, Togekiss. Let's try smack it with a Tri Attack and then follow that up with a Water Pulse!" I commanded him.

"Tri Attack!" the man called out, hand pointing at the opposing Dragonite. The man's prized Pokemon, Togekiss raised up high into the air, while the Dragonite watched, tail twitching from side to side curiously.

Togekiss' mouth opened to reveal three glowing lights- one was a bright cyan colour, the other was a dazzling red colour and the final was a brilliant amber colour. The harsh lights seemed to cause Dragonite to become even more inquisitive as it watched these bright gems of light, which slowly began to spin as they left Togekiss' mouth.

"Dragonite, snap out of it! Stop, it's just a trick!" the trainer called out on the far side of the room, pleading to his Pokemon to finish off the Togekiss so he could get his Gym Badge and finally beat this highly-respected Gym Leader. The Gym Leader was down to their final Pokemon, Togekiss, and it was at quite a low amount of health so the challenger believed he had it in the bag.

Bug, Dragonite followed the path of the tri-pronged attack, watching them pick up in speed as the elements of ice, electricity and fire rapidly started to get more powerful. Dragonite shot forward, straight at the lights, eyes shining miraculously as he watched them sparkle before him.

"Yes, Dragonite. I knew you could do it - NO, STOP. Hit the Togekiss, not the lights!"

But, it was too late. The beam had smacked into Dragonite head on, a burst of magenta flames licked at his skin, burning him in even the most sturdy places. The electricity shot out in waves of sparks, each sending little zaps into the Dragonite, rendering him unable to move as the pain mounted. Last, butcertainly not least was the dreaded ice part of the attack. It was so cold and the Dragonite could feel everything slipping away from him... All was going... black.

The pale green grass swayed in the fresh air and the bushes rustled as the small Pokemon in and out of them. A young ranger, walked down a small dirt track, with a large green Pokemon trailing. The large green Pokemon loudly stomped forward to its waiting trainer.

"Ahh Venusaur, you are not as agile as you were when you were a small Bulbasaur," the young ranger joked to the enormous grass Pokemon.

The young ranger awkwardly turned around and noticed a two pokemon ahead battling. As he walked closer, he noticed that there was two people, one wearing the mandatory Park Ranger uniform and the other was wearing a causal t-shirt. The young ranger signaled towards the ranger and said, "Hey Argent, I am here to take over now."

After handing over some important documents and discussing about a new clearing that was found by a pair of random travelers, Argent left back down the dirt trail.

The Young Ranger leaped onto the back of Venusaur and watched as the two Pokemon before him battled it out. On one side of the battlefield was a human height Pokemon with a baby Pokemon in its pouch. The other Pokemon was Togekiss, a normal type Pokemon, who seemed to be under orders from the trainer.

"Good job, Togekiss. Let's try smack it with a Tri Attack and then follow that up with a Water Pulse!" the trainer called out.

Togekiss shot up into the windy sky, positioning itself in front of the sun. It was a good plan, it meant that Kangaskhan had difficulty to dodge the attack. Togekiss opened its mouth and produced three different colour lights; one was light calm cyan, the other one was in a devilish red and the last light was in a cool amber colour. On command, Togekiss fired the bright lights toward the Kangaskhan. As soon as the lights left the mouth of Togekiss, a bolt-like tail attached itself to each light, and so taking the colour. From a distance it looked like a different version of Thunderbolt. The bolt-like lights collided into the tough skin of Kangaskhan, causing the Parent Pokemon crashing into the soft green grass.

Kangaskhan slowly got back to her feet and glared at Togekiss. Then Kangaskhan held her hands out and started to focus energy into them. Togekiss watched carefully at the hands of Kangaskhan, wondering what would happen. Then suddenly Kangaskhan, absorbed the power and started to make identical copies. Within seconds, Togekiss was surrounded by Kangaskhans. It seemed that when Kangaskhan held out her hands, it removed the attention of Togekiss, leaving a gap in his concentration, to create multiple copies of herself. Clever indeed

Togekiss, confused by this, opened his mouth and produced a ring of water. Togekiss locked onto to one of the Kangaskhan, hoping that it was the original owner of these clones. When ready, the water ring started to spiral down towards the Kangaskhan. The water crashed down on the Kangaskhan causing a large dust cloud to emerge from the ground. When the dust settled, the Kangaskhan disappeared. It must have been a copy. Very Interesting

It was silent, the only sound could be heard from the water rushing down the stream beside the battlefield. Both Pokemon were locked into a battle that they couldn't leave. Then a loud cry shattered the silence. It appeared from one of the clones, perhaps the original? It was like a rallying call and then suddenly, every single Kangaskhan fired a bright yellow bolt towards Togekiss. The hopeless Togekiss was getting fried by the bolts of electricity, however there was something important to tell the trainer.

The young ranger burst out loud, "Jay right? Listen Jay, don't be fooled by that attack, Togekiss is technically only receiving the damage from one Thunderbolt attack, it's a test from Kangaskhan. Think of it like an illusion. The name is Joe, by the way,"

The onslaught stopped and Togekiss fell to the ground, still surrounded by the Kangaskhan.

As the battle turn was about to commence between Togekiss and Kangaskha, I heard a rustlig coming fro the bushes a little back to my left, behind the oblivious Togekiss. It took me a few seconds for me to notice that the area where some bushes were was occupied by a Pokemon as well. I was a little alarmed as I realised that the Pokemon was a Venusaur, a powerful dual type Grass and Poison Pokemon and also the final evolution of a starter Pokemon, Bulbasaur.

I initially had thought that this was perhaps a wild Venusaur and might try and attack Togekiss from behind, leaving my Togekiss at a severe disadvantage having to fight against not just one but to fight against two of the most powerful Pokemon in the Botanic Gardens. However, there was a guy who looked a little younger than myself sitting down on the leafy back of the Venusaur.

I realised that this was my new Ranger for this run when I saw that my old one had suddenly mysteriously vanished into the surrounding shrubbery. The familiar looking Ranger gave me a brief salute after I nodded at him. When I looked back, Togekiss was just a bright speck in the sky, charging up hisr attack that was known as Tri Attack. Togekiss fired the attqck at the tough looking Kangaskhan as she was blinded by the bright light above. The force of thr beam knocked Kangaskhan back onto the luscious green grass but she was back up on her feet in no time. It didn't look like Kangaskhan had taken another stats condition from Togekiss and his moves.

Kangaskhan brought her big hands together as though she was praying or something. Gradually several images of Kangaskhan materialised in the air and ground around Kangaskhan, all looking nearly identical. I recognised this move as Double Team. It was mostly a move used by Pokemon who were prey and not predators. These Pokemon used this attack to create copies of themselves so they could have time to either run away from the predators or charge up moves to use to try and ward off the opposing predator. I could see why Kangaskhan knew this - it was clearly a method for her to protect her baby, something they were reknowned for doing.

Togekiss appeared quite confused by this, bt it certainly did not stop him firing off the final move I had commanded him to do, Water Pulse. After a ring of water had been formed, Togekiss fired it at one of the many Kangaskhan around the place. The Kangaskhan disappeared in a little puff of smoke, telling us this was not the real Kangaskhan.

"Don't worry Togekiss, I have a plan," I informrd him. It was true, I had an idea for a plan. Who knew whther it wold really work though.

Suddenly the Kangaskhan all turned around to face Togekiss at the exact same time in a rather creepy manner. They all spread their palm of their hands out and fired off a strong beam of electricity. I looked at the Togekiss, worried for him until the beam ended suddenly and Togekiss didn't really look too harmed.

Then the new Ranger explained the situation to me. He also introduced himself as Joe.

"Togekiss, Nasty Plot up. Follow up with a Magical Leaf powered by a Psychic attack. Those clones haven't got a chance!"

OOC: Taking this over cause I was asked, cause apparently it's still active @gmandiddy send me the mons

IC: Suddenly, from thin air, I drop from the sky and crash into the ground. "Gah, dammit Gardevoir, you need to stop randomly teleporting me like that. I don't see why you can't just teleport me on the ground," I said to my Gardevoir, who seemed to be happy with the results of her little joke. It was fine though, I was in one piece and whatnot. I'd been asked to take over this current run, so that this guy could finish his business here, and move on. I'd been given very little information, but based on what I did know his name was Jay, and he had came here with three Pokemon. A Togekiss, a Porygon-Z, and an Alakazam. I didn't know what he was particularly looking for though, since I showed up midbattle. He had been battling a Kangaskhan currently though, so once he was done here I intended to ask.

I had arrived in just enough time to here his command. "Togekiss, Nasty Plot up. Follow up with a Magical Leaf powered by a Psychic attack. Those clones haven't got a chance!" Based on what I saw before me both Pokemon were a little hurt, and Kangaskhan either walked through a cloning machine, or it had used Double Team. It seemed like Jay was attempting to do away with the clones quickly so he could return his attention to Kangaskhan, and attempt to fight it again. This strategy was a good one for trying to take care of that.

Togekiss got into a still state, closed its eyes, and started to think. Togekiss, or any Pokemon that used Nasty Plot was, or would stimulate its brain by thinking bad thoughts. Though what they thought of was something that I didn't want to know. In doing this though the user would boost their Special Attack by two stages, essentially doubling the damage to any Special Attack they use provided they only used Nasty Plot once.

Togekiss finished powering up, but before it could do anything else Kangaskhan made a fist, and threw it right in Togekiss' face knocking the creature down into the ground. It used Mega Punch, your basic no added bonus punch attack with a lot of force behind it. In all this confusion the real Kangaskhan had come forward and struck Togekiss, before it noticed. When it came to it still had no idea which one was real, and which one was the clones, but it was about to remedy that one.

Togekiss started to form leaves from thin air. These leaves were normally infused with Psychic energy that would single in on the opposing Pokemon's energy signature, but in this case Jay also sent Psychic along with it too, so that it wouldn't only hit everything, but it would also be sure to do some more damage than normally. As the leaves started to glow in front of Togekiss, its eyes also started to turn a shade of blue, and the entire surrounding area started to turn a shade of pink. This area was the range that Psychic hit. Psychic instantly disposed of all the clones, and make Kangaskhan try to cover itself up. Unfortunately for it though Togekiss wasn't finished. It now fired all the leaves at Kangaskhan, which knocked the creature down. It got back up, but between Psychic, and Magical Leaf it was showing that it was a little battle worn now.

"Gah, dammit Gardevoir, you need to stop randomly teleporting me like that. I don't see why you can't just teleport me on the ground," I heard a man say as he appeared to fall from the sky. I looked at him and realised that he was most likely my new Ranger for this run. My old one, Joe I believe his name was, had to leave unexpectantly after receiving an emergency phone call. When he told me the news with a grim face, I nodded in an understanding manner and turned my attention back to the battle to prepared against this very tough opponent. Being a very old Normal type Pokemon, it was bound to have a huge movepool full of many different types and styles of moves. Anything from physical moves, to status moves... The list really was endless. I opened my mouth and began to choose moves for Togekiss to use. Hopefully this strategy would defeat the incredibly annoying clones that the Kangaskhan had created thanks to Double team attack.

"Togekiss, Nasty Plot up. Follow up with a Magical Leaf powered by a Psychic attack. Those clones haven't got a chance!" I said, with a slight nervous edge to my voice. I looked to the new Ranger, but he was intent on figuring out what was going on in the battle. I would love to have explained it to him, but I didn't want to distract my Togekiss, who had just began using his moves. Togekiss' eyes closed tight and I could hear him start to murmur to himself as his face twisted up in a wicked manner. The contortions, I knew, were caused from Togekiss using the move nasty Plot. To an outsider it might even look like Togekiss' face was full of pain or something of the sort, but it was pure evil thoughts. Well, that's what I've been told anyway.

As his eyes shot open, he didn't have time to even register his surroundings again as the nimble kangaskhan had appeared out of nowhere and rammed a powerful fist into Togekiss, hitting it square on in the face. "Kiss," it grunted. Whether that was a cry of pain or maybe Togekiss had been startled. I really couldn't tell and hopefully it wouldn't put Togekiss off using his attack. However, being the true champ that it is, Togekiss continued with his plan, and, it might just have been me, but it sure looked like he was more determined on attacking now than before. It would be excellent if we could channel the pain into making Togekiss' moves stronger. I know it's a horrible way to think, but Togekiss was a very loyal friend to me and I wouldn't hurt it deliberately, or anything of the sort.

All of a sudden, blue leaves, infused with a glowing purple aura shot forward. they pierced the mutliple Kangaskhan causing the many clones to disintegrate into nothing but thin air. This left just the one true Kangaskhan to take the brute force of the remaining sharp leaves. The boost in power they received from psychic sure proved to be hlpful, as kangaskhan grunted a little in pain.

"Excellent," I muttered under my breath. I wasn't sure whether anyone heard me or not but it didn't really matter. I had a plan that would hopefully work, but first things first. It was of the upmost importance that this Kangaskhan gets a status condition, and what better option than thunder wave. It would definitely slow down the Kangaskhan which would give us more time to think and prepare. Not to mention it really would make Kangaskhan much easier to catch in the long run. If we ever get around to that anyway. So far it has been quite a long battle and a good portion of the day is already gone. I don't want to waste too long here. Hmmm...

"Togekiss, let's try and fuse Aura Sphere and Thunder wave. remember, we've done a lot of work on this so let's try and get it to work now when it matters!"

It's true. It was an attack we had spent several days working on before coming here. It merged the very compulsive electrical pulses from Thunder wave and the very strong Aura Sphere that always hit because it senses a Pokemon's aura. I wasn't sure whether it always hit int he National park, where just about anything could happen. But, hell, I could hope.

Jay seemed pleased with his little strategy. Couldn't blame him, since he managed to do away with the effects of Double Team, and deal Kangaskhan some damage in the process. Still thought he couldn't get too excited yet, because this battle wasn't over. It may not have been the most powerful thing out there, but a Kangaskhan could take a hit. Most likely due to the fact that they were generally protectors. I'm sure Jay knew that though, and was cooking up some sort of plan.

"Togekiss, let's try and fuse Aura Sphere and Thunder wave. remember, we've done a lot of work on this so let's try and get it to work now when it matters!" Jay commanded.

Togekiss turned and nodded. It took in a deep breath, and started to summon up energy from deep inside its body. An aura started to form around Togekiss, and it was beginning to form the attack, but Kangaskhan didn't wanna sit there and wait. Kangaskhan stuck its hands forward, and its claws stuck out and sharpened. It then slashed at Togekiss' midsection, trying to make it lose its concentration. It had used Crush Claw. This wasn't as powerful as Mega Punch was, but this also had a strong chance to drop the opposing Pokemon's defense. Togekiss came back to though, and it didn't look any weaker.

It refocused on its attack, forming a small sphere of energy from its mouth, that started to expand. You could see electricity surging around this blast of energy. This was because Thunder Wave was also merged in there. What Thunder Wave did was paralyze the opponent upon contact. If it went through, Kangaskhan would be slower, have a chance of not being able to attack, and be easier to capture. What Aura Sphere was was a blast of aura from the users body that would rarely miss. It was also a Fighting-type move which meant it would do some heavy damage to Kangaskhan. Fusing these two moves together was very smart.

Togekiss fired off the attack. Kangaskhan tried to avoid it, but its left arm, and chest got hit by the blast, and the Thunder Wave started to spread around. She knew what was coming, so in retaliation Kangaskhan attempted to attack again. It raced over at Togekiss, stuck up its foot, and stomped down. Togekiss managed to avoid it most of the way, only getting its wing slightly clipped, but still that stomp looked like it was intended to be very vicious. Stomp was known of causing opposing Pokemon to flinch, since they're basically being stepped on, so if that was used first than maybe that combo of Togekiss' wouldn't have been able to go through. But now it was a little too late though, since Kangaskhan was now paralyzed, giving Jay a distinct advantage.

Before Togekiss was fully done with the attack, I saw the Kangaskhan lunge forward and slash at Togekiss' stomach with those outstretched sharpened nails. Togekiss gave a grunt of pain, but he didn't seem to take too much damage from the attack and it seemed as though the side-effect of Crush Claw didn't happen. This was quite lucky for us because lowered Defense would basically make the Kangaskhan's attacks that much stronger.

Togekiss shot out the attack at the Kangaskhan. The sizzling ball of energy shot forward, straight towards the Kangaskhan's center. The Kangaskhan tried to dodge the attack by rolling out of the way, but it had just permformed the Crush Claw attack and I knew that it hadn't enough time to prepare for Togekiss' counter-attack in retaliation. The Kangaskhan did manage to avoid some of the attack, but as the blue ball of highly concentrated energy smacked the left side of its body and its arm, I saw the blue sparks shoot out and spread along the Mother Pokemon's body.

It gave a shudder as the paralysation set in. Being paralysed was quite an annoying ailment to be afflicted with, so it was only good news for us. Suddenly, Kangaskhan flung itself forward, clearly using some of the last remaining reserves of energy it had. As the powerful foot smacked into Togekiss, knocking it down. If Kangaskhan had not been paralysed, this attack would have really wrecked Togekiss, even though it was a weak enough move.

Kangaskhan had a lot more powerful moves, so J knew what we had to do. It was just an untested idea, who knew how effective it would prove to be exactly. I looked at Togekiss, who was beginning to show the strains and pain this battle had placed upon him. Because the Kangaskhan had been slowed down, I was quite sure this would work. It banked on Togekiss being faster than Kangaskhan so that it could do even a bit of damage before switching into something more suited to battling the tough Kangaskhan.

The idea was for Togekiss to shoot forward and hit the Kangaskhan before being called back to his Pokeball before he could get hurt much more. This was based upon a very well-known strategy that many competitivae Pokemon battlers used. The term was known as 'scouting' and was commonly performed by having a fast Pokemon use U-turn or Volt Switch in order to switch out to a Pokemon more suited to fight the opponent. Togekiss didn't have U-turn or Volt Switch, but that wouldn't be a problem if this worked out.

The speed was the first issue. Togekiss had one attack in the form of a priority move, Extreme Speed. It was perfect when combined with Kangaskhan's much slower speed thanks to the Thunder Wave paralysing it. When Togekiss gets to Kangaskhan, it has to do at least some damage and while Extreme Speed provided some momentum, it wasn't very strong. Togekiss could smack the Kangaskhan with enough force and bounce back. Hmm... Brick Break! It was the perfect physical move that would allow Togekiss to rebound off of the Kangaskhan. Next was the most important part, escaping. The answer to that was unusually, but still very straight forward... Baton Pass back to me and into its Pokeball.

Alright, that sounded like a plan. Togekiss shoots forward with Extreme Speed, use a powerful Brick Break to send itself shooting backwards after hitting into Kangaskhan and then fleeing back to its Pokeball with Baton Pass.

"Togekiss," I called him to get his attention, getting myself back in tune with the battle. Then I proceeded to explain the plan to him, before finishing with "and then we will switch Porygon-Z into Kangaskhan. Try not to hurt it too badly."

The truth was, I really didn't want for this Kangaskhan to get hurt too badly or anything. Kangaskhan had really protective instincts, something I've always been told and seen on the television, but it was only looking at this Kangaskhan in the flesh that really showed me how accurate these claims were. I can remember the only other time I've seen a Kangaskhan that wasn't on the television.

It was in a double battle against the then Petalburg Gym Leader. The Leader, Ataro, was very well known for using powerful and unique Pokemon an proving how useful they really are. On this particular occassion, I was battling against his Kangaskhan, and I was practically lost for words seeing the Kangaskhan. Whenever struck by an attack, its hands shot out to cover its baby instinctively. Even during battles, Kangaskhan kept their babies in their pouches because they were so nurturing and protective of their kin.

However, in this particular battle, my old Infernape, a Pokemon I no longer have unfortunately, was battling against the Gym Leader's very resourceful Kangaskhan. I had my Infernape use Fake Out on the Kangaskhan. Fearing an Encore into Protect, Ataro had let his Kangaskhan take the hit. Now, as everyone knows, Fake Out is a very fast move in the second stage priority and when it's used the opponent will more or less always flinch. Infernape shot forward like a blazing bullet, and rammed its fists into the Kangaskhan's stomach, knocking the poor baby flying out of the pouch.

Despite pretty much every Pokemon faced against a Fake Out, Kangaskhan refused to flinch. Something in its very genetic makeup prevented it from flinching and pausing right then and there like it should have. Kangaskhan, eyes shut and face contorted with concentration, forced its whole body forward and into a standing position, despite being knocked down into a kneeling position. Kangaskhan flung its body down, shielding its baby no matter how much it would have hurt itself. That in itself was surely awe-inspiring.

Of course, neither myself nor my Infernape would have hurt the baby, but seeing the Kangaskhan go to such an outstanding extent and defying what I thought was inevitable made me want one so much more. Even with Pokemon that appeared stronger at first, there was no way I could beat Ataro and his Pokemon with their intense bond. I wanted that bond for myself and my Pokemon, but it's just so hard to get and maintain.
