Argent was extremely excited, to say the least. It had been a good few years since he himself had gone through his first run in the National Park, and that was what had inevitably brought him into the whole idea of being a Ranger; he had visited the Botanic Gardens on his first run and he had loved it completely. Argent had now settled down into his workplace, and was trying to become friendly with the rest of his colleagues - he was an extremely likeable and kind person, however, so it may or may not take him too long to make friends with his new colleagues. He was already starting to like the idea of accompanying different trainers through the Park, and seeing everything, every Pokémon, that the Park had to offer.

Argent's desk was quite presentable - his files and paperwork were all arranged neatly, and he was currently doing some of his paperwork. He didn't mind work that much. His desk was only tidy because of Chimey's insistence that he keep everything at its best and organised so that he could find things when he needed to. Argent, after scribbling down something on a page, the pen scratching at it noisily, flicked on the button to his computer screen's monitor. Clicking on a few icons, he scrolled down through the list of trainers waiting to get into the Park. Chimey, the light blue creature which was known as a Chimecho, was hovering over his shoulder, also watching the computer screen as words whizzed by. Argent supposed that he'd have to get a run done sooner or later.

Argent, picking out a random run since he didn't know what to expect, was surprised - it was a request by one Joe Smith. Argent knew that Joe Smith was a fellow ranger, but what was more weird was that Joe Smith was the man who had taken Argent's first run in the Botanic Gardens. Shrugging as he read that it was unclaimed as of yet, he changed its status to 'claimed' and then printed out all the information. As he gathered it from his printer, he bounced the bottom of the pages off of his desk to level them up a bit. He stapled the pages together and began to read through the small booklet he had printed. He preferred reading off a page to reading off a computer screen. After he was satisfied with it all, he grabbed a folder from his multi-stacked trays and placed the pages inside it. Flipping it shut afterwards, he grabbed his satchel and placed the folder inside.

Chimey looked at her trainer with mute judgement, but her mood quickly got brighter as she saw her trainer grin delightedly at her. He explained to her about his first run, and she nodded her head, readily agreeing to come with him. He walked past her and began to head towards the desk of the petite secretary.

"Hi, there. I'm going to be going out on a run, so if you could just verify this, I'll get on my way." He handed her the folder. She scribbled something on the last page, giving it back to Argent straight afterwards. Scratching his jet-black hair as he placed his folder back inside his satchel, he headed onwards once more. Going into the entrance hall, he headed down that familiar, narrow corridor, which led into the main lobby for trainers to meet their Rangers. However, Argent had came here mainly to get Cassidy to teleport him to the Abandoned Power Plant. The queues to the teleporters looked kind of busy, and Cassidy would probably enjoy getting out anyway.

Cassidy noted their presence as soon as they had walked into the lobby. Using her new-found teleportation skill, she twirled on her seat and disappeared briefly. Reappearing right in front of Argent, she held her arms out wide and hugged his leg, almost making him trip up over her. Argent laughed good-naturedly, and held onto Cassidy's hand. Chimey floated down to Cassidy's level and touched her arm.

"Take us to the Abandoned Power Plant, please, Cassidy."

Closing her eyes in concentration, she smiled and then the trio disappeared into nothingness, only leaving the faintest of noise as they departed. Feeling as though he was being thrust through a tube at high speed, Argent shuddered at the familiar sensation of teleportation. He was having second thoughts at teaching Cassidy the move Teleport, as she used it almost constantly. Within a few seconds, however, Argent found himself standing a few metres from the entrance of the ramshackle Power Plant, which no longer crackled with bustling life or electricity.

The Power Plant, Argent noted, was not on the whole a place he thought he'd enjoy visiting. A lot of the windows were tinted, cracked and broken, and Argent was aware that there were many confusing corridors, halls and different locations like that within the complex. The place was only dimly lit by flickering lights which looked about ready to go out forever. The exterior of the Power Plant was just a plain grey, nothing particularly extravagant or noticeable. Argent shrugged - it was abandoned, after all, so he shouldn't expect it to be looking pristine.

Argent was quite confident that Joe would be able to make it here without many problems. After all, Joe was a more experienced Ranger than he was.

    Your Local Weather Report:

Storms approaching the National Park, the eye of the storm is properly going to be located around the area of Abandon PowerPlant. Apart from that, mostly sunshine with spots of rain for the rest of the region and sunny patches along the coast line. I am Sarah Westwood, your local weather reporter

Joe flicked his phone and stopped the local broadcast. It was handy having a phone like his, it meant that he could check the sport and weather instantly. He looked ahead and noticed the tall olden Power plant erupt from the ground. Joe had only been here once, but he didn't stay to long. Properly the trainer got scared and ran away.

Joe marched up the path and noticed a tall young figure standing outside the plant. Joe walked up to the young man and greeted himself, "Hello my name is Joe, I believe you are my ranger?"

As Joe waited for an answer, he flicked open bag and removed a PokePlayer. A small gray CD fell out from the bag and landed on the floor. Joe bent down and picked the CD up before placing into the cassette player. A cry bellowed out from the player, it was the cry of Porygon.

After waiting for a few moments, Cassidy had heard a few footsteps behind her - she had extremely sharp hearing, and could hear things coming from very far away. She detected that the walker was male, and eventually she could see him coming from the horizon. Pulling on Argent's trouser leg, she pointed obscurely towards the lone figure. Argent, having his attention pulled away from his surroundings, looked in the direction where Cassidy had been pointing. When he squinted, he could see a figure slowly making his way to the group. Cassidy clapped as the man drew ever closer.

A few minutes later, Argent was facing the other man. Politely, the other one said to him, "Hello, my name is Joe. I believe you are my Ranger?"

"Hi there, Joe. I'm Argent, and yes, I'm your Ranger for today!" Argent answered energetically, watching as Joe fiddled with some mechanical contraption that he recognised as a PokéPlayer. A CD fell out of Joe's bag onto the floor, but Joe quickly swept it up and placed it inside the PokéPlayer. Immediately, a screeching noise was emitted from the device, and Argent automatically put his hands to his ears at the noise. He really hated the noise that Porygon made - the Pokémon was only a half-formed idea, anyway, so its cry matched its general background. After a few seconds, the noise had stopped, and Argent uncovered his ears, returning his hands to his pockets and shuddering slightly.

Cassidy, her ears ringing, looked around herself to see if the noise had stopped, was rather surprised when she saw a red-and-yellow mouselike creature curiously hiding behind a bollard. Poking its head around, it slowly came out from its hiding place and presented itself in front of the two trainers. It had a sad, lost look in its eyes, as if it had been lonely for a long while. Argent looked down on it, noting the upset expression on its face as it placed its paws behind its back shyly.

"Well, hi!" Argent exclaimed politely. "Would you like to battle this Trainer?"

Even as he spoke, Argent shot a questioning look at his own Trainer.

"Hi there, Joe. I'm Argent, and yes, I'm your Ranger for today!" Argent replied. Joe smiled as soon as he saw who his ranger was. Its been quiet some while since Joe took Alpha through the park. Joe glanced over and noticed his Clefable looking at something in the distance. A small red and yellow mouse Pokemon appeared from behind a bollard. Joe tended to have a habit of recording every Pokemon he saw in his Pokedex. He whipped out the slim black PokeDex and scanned the Pokemon

'Plusle, the Cheering Pokémon. Plusle loves to cheer for its fellow Pokémon, and it creates sparkling pom-poms by shorting out the electrical current released from its palms.'

"Well, hi!" Argent exclaimed politely. "Would you like to battle this Trainer?"

Argent glanced up towards Joe and shot a questioning look at him.

"I am sorry, but I would like to pass on this option, however I do have an idea. I would like to give it one of my Pokedolls, I am sure it will enjoy its company."

Argent looked up at the grey sky as he was kneeling down, slightly concerned about the weather. Cassidy also seemed to be showing the same concern, although nothing really much got her spirits down. Raising an eyebrow slightly as some warning signal was raised in the back of his mind, yet he decided to pay no heed to it for the time being. Something told him that this impending thunderstorm had been caused by some kind of presence. Some major event was imminent, Argent knew that. He'd have to stay on his toes during most of this run. Maybe the dank, scary exterior of the Power Plant's complex was intimidating into thinking that something was wrong. Argent shrugged it off as he usually did - he'd have to deal with whatever he was feeling a bit later. Now, he had to pay attention to his trainer and his reactions. The Plusle looked anxious to have a new trainer, but as soon as Argent spotted Joe's face...

Oh dear, Argent mused. Poor thing's going to be alone still.

Reading Joe's face made it clear that he was not going to take the Plusle with him.

"I am sorry, but I would like to pass on this option. However, I do have an idea. I would like to give it one of my Pokédolls - I am sure it will enjoy its company."

Argent smiled approvingly of this kind suggestion. Taking the offered Pokédoll from Joe with a soft grasp, Argent handed it into the expectant paws of the red-and-yellow mouse creature, who took it with an adoring gaze. Its eyes started to sparkle and it burst into tears - joyful tears. It must have been separated from whatever friend it had for a very long time. It hugged the Pokédoll close to its chest and then began to walk off, happy at least with its new companion.

Argent sniffed. "Lonely thing. Come on, let's go inside."

Argent stepped towards the doors, pushing them open with more ease than should have been allowed, considering they were absolutely massive. Argent guessed that they were so cracked and rickety that it really didn't make a difference how hard you pushed the door. As it swung open, Argent briefly looked back at his trainer and smiled encouragingly, ushering him on inside. Cassidy reluctantly followed, Chimey floating boldly ahead alongside Argent. Argent's heart fluttered like a Taillow in a cage as he walked along the eerie corridor.

"Shhhhinx!" a noise came loudly, almost like a bark.

Stepping out of the shadows into plain sight was a small black and blue dog-like creature, which boldly stepped up towards them, barking a challenge to the two people. Chimey nodded patiently, and then translated bluntly to Argent.

    It wants to battle.

"Well, Joe? Would you like this little Shinx?"

Shinx barked in that same tone - challengingly.

Joe handed the small pink Pokedoll over to Argent, who then placed the doll next to Pusle. As soon as the small red and yellow mouse held onto the doll, its eyes started to sparkle and it burst into tears - joyful tears. Joe felt bad about leaving the small mouse Pokemon but he knew that it would have a great time with the PokeDoll.

Joe watched as Argent opened the doors wide open, creating a weird creaking sound as they opened. Argent looked at Joe and ushered him into the dark building.

"Shhhhinx!" a noise came loudly, almost like a bark.

Stepping out of the shadows into plain sight was a small black and blue dog-like creature, which boldly stepped up towards them, barking a challenge to the two people.

Joe quickly whipped out a Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon that just walked out.

'Shinx, the Flash Pokémon. When it senses danger, the hairs on its body light up and it runs away, leaving its opponent dazed.'

"Well, Joe? Would you like this little Shinx?" Argent asked Joe. Joe shook his head however opened his bag and fluffy tail and tossed it towards the small Shinx. He watched as the Shinx started to tear the tail apart. Joe giggled before waiting for Argent's orders.

Joe seemed to refuse once more to battle this Pokémon. Instead, he delved into his bag again, bringing out his Pokédex to scan the Pokémon and also bringing out a white fluffy tail-like object which he flung at the Shinx. The small creature took it in his jaws and started wrestling with it and tearing it to shreds. It seemed that the fluffy tail thing would keep it busy for the next while, so Argent slowly stepped past the creature and continued on down the tedious, winding corridor, Cassidy on constant lookout for anything that might be around the place.

As they descended deeper into the Power Plant, Argent grew ever more nervous. There was nothing as they walked down slowly, not even the faintest sound. It seemed that it really had been abandoned, at least for today. Argent, shrugging again like he did a lot, continued on in the hope that they'd find another Pokémon to challenge Joe. Even if they did encounter something, however, Argent was not at all confident that Joe would bother his backside trying to catch it. It seemed so far that Joe had came here to rush around, looking for one Pokémon and one Pokémon only. The chances of him finding something that he wanted, however, was very slim. A wide range of Pokémon would appear anywhere within the National Park, so again, the chance of finding the particular one he wanted was slim. But Argent then reasoned with himself that since Joe had brought a PokéPlayer with him, he would probably be able to get what he wanted.

It seemed, however, that the two were not to be alone for much longer. A small, sheep-like creature was tip-toeing upon the cold, metal floor underneath them with such extreme silence that it would have been almost impossible for even Cassidy's sharp ears to detect the noise. However, the 'almost impossible' came into play. Cassidy picked up immediately on the noise and turned to face where it was coming from - they were at a T-junction in the corridors, and Cassidy faced towards the left one. The creature, seeing Cassidy's face outlined in the dim light, let out a shocked bleat and jumped back a pace, electricity crackling around its wool.

Argent, turning to where Cassidy faced, saw that there was a miniscule Mareep down the corridor. Straining to see it in the restricted light, Argent could see that this creature was very scared. It was hopping from foot to foot, looking just about ready to zap anyone who stepped closer. The most intimidated expression Argent had ever seen flicked across its face a few times as the electricity spiralled through its wool. This one was going to be slightly difficult to negotiate with, of course. It seemed like this one didn't take very well to having company, and it seemed to want to run away as soon as possible. Argent sighed concernedly, raising his eyebrows as he glanced over his shoulder towards Joe.

"Well, Joe? Would you like to add this Mareep to your collection?" Argent asked, a trace of doubt in his voice even as the question came out. Argent, looking out of one of the dim windows, noted that rain had started to pelt upon the glass - hard. The thunderstorm would really be here soon.

The small Shinx grabbed the white fluffy tail-like object and started to wrestle with it. It was quiet amusing and fun to watch. Joe quickly grabbed his camera from his bag and took a picture of the Shinx playing with the white fluffy tail. As the Shinx was busy tearing apart the fluffy tail, Joe carefully tiptoed past it. Joe glanced ahead at the long and windy corridor. The Abandon Power Plant was known for it's dark maze-like corridors.

They descended deeper down the long windy corridors. The further they ventured down the corridors, the more nervous Joe got. It was silent and the only noise you could hear is the frequent water droplet drip down from the large old water pipes that were located above your head. Also the sound of Joe's footsteps moved in sync with the droplets and the sound of a synthetic cry of Porygon ringing through the abandoned corridors. The flickering dim lights above only just lighting up the path ahead. It was like suddenly within seconds people just escaped the Power Plant and left everything behind.

Some myths say that the scientist of the Power Plant were studying a rare Pokemon, Porygon. One day during research, they discovered that Porygon is known as the Virtual Pokemon, which are generally found in computers or in labs and other buildings people work, which makes them almost uncatchable. However later that day, a Porygon specimen escaped from the computer and appeared in the real world. Unknown of their true power, the scientist tried to train and control the Porygon. During training, the scientists pushed the Porygon to it's limits, trying to find its true power. With all this strain and work, the Porygon dramatically changed its attitude and started to attack all the workers and scientists. They released all the Pokemon that the scientist were working on and forced the Scientists out of the plant. However some people believe that Porygon dose not exist but just merely a myth created by some scientists to hid the fact that the projects they were working on were too expensive and they couldn't pay the funds for the projects.

Joe however believed that Porygon's do exist because his father was a scientist at the time and saw it with his own eyes. Sometimes he would tell Joe about his day and explain what experiments they were doing. Joe idolized his father in many ways and hoped that when he was older he would be a scientist like his father. However since that 'incident' Joe has been put off being a scientists and became a Ranger instead. Joe believed that in the deepest parts of the plant, is where Porygon rests. Today, Joe is ready to make the myth a reality.

As they walked further down the corridors, Joe noticed ahead a small Pokemon strolling across the corridor. The small yellow tip of the tail started to spark through the poorly lit corridor. As the tip of the tail started to spark, Joe could started to create an image of what this Pokemon is actually. The small blue feet surrounded by the thick white fur. As Joe walked closer to the pokemon, he could see the whole outline of the Pokemon, the distinctive feature was that it looked like a ram cross bred with a sheep. However Joe knew what this Pokemon was, it was a frequent follower when he ever took a trainer through the Abandoned Power Plant. Although Joe knew what the Pokemon was, it was no harm to scan it through his PokeDex, maybe he might find something interesting about it.

'Mareep, the Wool Pokémon. Mareep stores static electricity in their wooly coat. They avoid battle and have mild dispositions.'

    They avoid battles?

However instead of trying to avoid a battle, the Mareep looked exactly opposite. It was bouncing from leg to another, almost like a boxer boxing another boxer on live television. Joe didn't want to get involved with this Mareep, his main focus was on finding a Porygon, if they ever existed. As Joe was about to walk over to the Mareep, he remembered an important rule about approaching a wild Mareep. Do not touch the wool, it will electrocute you and cause you to loose felling through out your body.

"Well, Joe? Would you like to add this Mareep to your collection?" Argent asked, a trace of doubt in his voice even as the question came out.

"As much as I am a fan of Mareep, I am going to have to pass on this one. However I will give this cute little Mareep a small Poketoy for him to play with," Joe said as he removed a small white hat and a small white cane.

    Looks very familiar to me?

Joe removed his camera one more time and took a picture of the dressed up Mareep. The white flash illuminated the dark room. As the flash lit up the room, Joe noticed a small picture frame hanging on the wall beside him. He released a small red and white Pokeball and threw it on the hard concrete floor. A dimmer white flash appeared a large human shape appeared through the flash. As the flash died down, the large flames erupted from the Pokemon's head. Joe smiled as he watched his Infernape stretch his long muscular arms. The flame on the top of his head partially illuminated the room. Joe looked across as the picture frame beside him and started to examine it. It was a photo of the last scientist that worked in this building. Joe scanned across the the picture frame and suddenly stopped as he noticed a familiar face. Joe had found a picture of his father when he was about Joe's age. He had the same features as Joe, long wavy golden brown hair, tall, ocean blue eyes and burst loads of freckles.

Joe turned around and caught sight of Argent glancing towards the large open window. Joe looked through the window and noticed a large black cloud slowly make it's way towards the plant. A thunderstorm is approaching.

Argent, shrugging his shoulders as he passed the Mareep, who seemed still bemused by the whole photo-shoot session created by Joe. The brief flashes of his camera illuminated the corridors, and Argent's eyes widened as he saw, however briefly, how the plant might have looked back when it was still in operation. Argent didn't care much for any kind of power plant - there had been too many disasters associated with them throughout history, and Argent didn't really like the notion that his health could be at threat due to one of these accidents, although the air would probably be clean of any dioxins that could harm his health at this stage. As he pondered this, he still walked on, his black boots colliding with the hard granite-like surface of the floor - no doubt it used to be a shining ceramic or metallic floor, but it had been wore out to the very point of breaking down into nothing, so the ground crunched noisily under Argent's footwear. Argent, still deep in thought, trundled on.

Chimey floated by his side, letting out slow jingles as she gently raised her body up and down without even realising it, but liking the sound it made. She stopped every now and then to inspect some minute detail on the floor or on the wall, meticulous in her examinations even to the point that she'd use psychic power to aid her, often causing more damage to the already unstable surroundings. Had Argent not been watching her, she would probably have caused a wall to fall down at a few stages, although his judgement was somewhat subdued by his mind, buzzing with curious thoughts about his surroundings. He himself was also very keen to find out everything he could know about this place, and he made a mental note to study up about the area later on, during one of those less busy phases of paperwork. Argent didn't particularly get why there was so much paperwork to the job, but he didn't dare complain to his boss - he was happy to work in his current conditions, and to complain to his boss was practically social suicide, since he was new. Getting a reputation for complaining early in his career would be bad form.

Proceeding onwards through the winding, confusing corridors was tedious, to say the least. How anyone could walk so far and not encounter a single Pokémon was bewildering - however, it did give a certain emphasis to the word 'abandoned'. On the other hand, Argent was aware that there were plenty of Pokémon that inhabited the Power Plant, but they must just be quite unlucky to see one. Argent sighed, resiliently striding onwards with Chimey by his side and Cassidy, Joe and his Pokémon in tow. Cassidy was skipping along once more, listening carefully to see if she could detect any noise whatsoever. Even Chimey, who was becoming less interested in the surroundings, was bored out of her tiny skull.

    How uneventful, Argent mused.

I'm sure we'll encounter-- Chimey began jingling, only to be interrupted.

A resounding series of screeching, beeps and bops came from Joe's Poképlayer, cutting off the last few snippets of Chimey's conversation to Argent's ears. Argent looked back irritably - he hated that noise. After a few moments, the disk no longer played the authentic-sounding, yet artificially produced Porygon cry. Argent hoped bitterly that the disk would somehow malfunction soon enough - he didn't particularly like the noise jolting him out of his thoughts at seemingly sporadic times, yet well-timed enough to be an annoyance to Argent. Argent, standing still for a moment, tensed himself in expectation of a drastic appearance of a Pokémon, which didn't seem to be happening. Argent shrugged, just about to walk on. However, Cassidy gasped, her face shocked as she pointed towards a window farther on down the corridor, but not too far.

    "BEEP BOP DOO BEEP. BZZZT-ERRRRRR."

Argent raised an eyebrow in response, instinctively taking a few steps backwards as the hair on the back of his neck was raised. Was some piece of equipment, long abandoned, malfunctioning? Had it been working or something, but now it decided to randomly implode?

None of Argent's suspicions were the answer. In fact, the answer shot through a nearby window, smashing it into small shards and sending these skittering along the floor. As the dust cloud caused by the sudden appearance cleared up, it revealed a dimly illuminated origami-like Pokémon, looking like it had been badly painted a shocking combination of red and blue. It was a Porygon. Joe's Voice Disk had succeeded at last.

"Congratulations, Joe! Just what you wanted, I take it?"

As Argent waited for an answer, Chimey fussily floated towards the mess caused by the flamboyant entrance of the Virtual Pokémon. Her eyes flashing for a moment, the shards and residual dust became outlined in a faint glow of purple, shooting out of the window, never to return by natural means. Then backing away, returning to Argent's side, she beamed at Cassidy, who returned her an encouraging grin. It was going to be a test of Argent's ranger skills from here on out, and they were both nervous to see what the outcome would be. However, as usual, they put on an optimistic show for Argent, who was glad of their efforts.

They continued to walk down the winding and long dim corridors, with only the light of Joe's Infernape cutting back the darkness that surrounded them. It had been a while since Joe had encountered that small Mareep. It was almost like this plant was actually 'Abandoned', it was just Argent and his Pokemon along with Joe, alone in the plant, unaware who might just pop out at the next corner. Joe glanced over to Infernape and smiled, it seemed that Infernape was feeling the exact opposite to Joe. Infernape had the tendency to act brave and hero-like in situations like these to make Joe feel good.

"We have been through a lot haven't we boy?" Joe said as he raised his hand and patted Infernape's back.

As they were walking along, Joe's Pokeplayer started to play the same synthetic sound of a Porygon's Cry. The sound was almost like a strict old teacher grabbing a small white chalk piece and dragging it across the blackboard creating a high pitch sound that made you cringe. The player continued to play and then started to fade. Then as the player stopped, an artificial sound of Porygon appear from nowhere.

    "BEEP BOP DOO BEEP. BZZZT-ERRRRRR."

It sounded like a piece of electronic equipment is malfunctioning, or it could be someone coming back to the plant to finish what they started? Joe's stared to feel a cold breeze down his neck and back. The hair stood up all over his body. Joe was certainly scared of what was to happen next.

The window ahead of the started to rattle, almost like an Earthquake was happening. Then in a blink of an eye, a blue and pink figure darted across the window pane. What was that? Joe focused to the window and noticed the same figure however it was gradually increasing. Soon the figure crashed through the window, scattering small pieces of glass across the room. Joe shielded his face as the glass came rocketing towards him. Infernape quickly focused some power and created a large green sphere that protected Joe and Argent from the propelling glass.

Joe opened his eyes and focused through the green sphere at the Pokemon standing before him. The pink polyhedral body with a blue stomach, blue triangular prism feet and a blue rectangular prism tail stood out. Joe opened his mouth and marveled at the Pokemon hovering in front of him. It was Porygon, and looked like the PokePlayer worked.

"Congratulations, Joe! Just what you wanted, I take it? Argent praised Joe.

Joe didn't reply, he just stood there and held three Pokeballs in his hands and focused on them.

Who do I pick, Do I choose Krookodile. I know that Porygon is a normal type and Krookodile has access to Brick Break and many other strong moves that can take down Porygon. However I know that Porygon can learn Ice Beam, something which Krookodile would not like to be on the other end of.

Do I choose Ambipom, who is a Normal Pokemon and can resist many attacks that Porygon may fire at him. However his arsenal is that very good although Brick Break may be useful.

How about Roserade? She can use a lot of status inflicting moves that may slow down Porygon however Grass moves and Poison moves are not very effective.

Then there is Infernape, prefect Pokemon and can use a lot of Fighting moves and can take Ice and Electric moves quiet easily. However he has just walked a long way and maybe tired.

    Who to choose?

After a while of thinking, Joe grabbed one of the small red and white balls in his hands and chucked it through the air. A white flash appeared in front of Joe and then a silhouette of a tall rose like Pokemon. The flowers attached to her arms reminded Joe of when he first captured Roserade. The fresh warm air is something Joe wanted right now.

"Alright Porygon you are mind" Joe muttered to himself.

Joe turned to Roserade and said, "Alright Roserade, I want you to start things off Worry Seed to negate Porygon's Ability. Then use Stun Spore"

    BP#1

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

“Ugh, why are we here again?” Ivy said as she stumbled through another patch of dead wires weaved into the floor just for tripping her. Beside her, Haji jumped effortlessly over them, giving her a look. “Yeah, yeah,” she answered, “I know, part of the job and all. But seriously, I've seen enough exploding Pokéball impersonators to last me a lifetime. Remind me to stay away from here for a while.”

The Espeon rolled his eyes at her when he thought she wasn't looking, but she got the visual through their mental link, along with a sarcastic wave.

“Alright, Roserade,” she heard from a voice ahead. “I want yu to start things off with Worry Seed to negate Porygon's Ability. Then use Stun Spore.”

She turned down a few more corridors and entered a room that had a few windows with the glass missing. There she found her new charges. The Trainer had a black baseball cap and a black jacket over his jeans. He was focused on the battle though, so he didn't know she was there yet.

She spotted Argent, one of her fellow Rangers, and met him halfway across the floor as he saw her. They exchanged information and shook hands as the other Ranger left, having something urgent he had to get to. This was another takeover for her, something that happened once in a while when a different Ranger had to sub in on a run.

She tensed a little as the roof creaked above her, and she felt Haji do the same. There were gaps in the ceiling of this room, showing peeks of the gray sky above. She could smell the water on the air and knew it was going to rain soon too. A gust came through and blew her wavy red hair around, and she grimaced. If it started to downpour, this fight might not be as fun to watch as she hoped.

A Roserade called out, a bipedal plant Pokémon with a white hair shag on top of her head. The red and blue bushes of flowers on the ends of her arms began to quiver as two small seeds plopped to the ground, one from each bushel. They flew toward the computer-like Pokémon, and to her surprise, they soaked into it. The Pokémon immediately looked more alert, and whatever it had been doing before was stopped. It sort of looked like it had been downloading something.

The Pokémon this Trainer was trying to catch was a porygonal-shaped creature with pink and blue covered parts. This one was extremely rare, and she knew many Trainers came here looking for it. Joe was really lucky to find one. They tended to stay hidden.

The Porygon began to move in response to the Roserade's attack, shifting only slightly in place. As she watched, light bent across it, moving in gleams. The sides of the creature hardened and moved a bit, causing the edges of it to point more dangerously as it sharpened itself. Ivy was pretty sure someone could get cut on the surface.

The Roserade then began to move her flowers again, and a misty yellow spore came out of them, floating in the air above her for a second before it shot toward the Porygon. Ivy recognized the crackling powder as a Stun Spore, intended to paralyze the target. It hit the Porygon, but the Ranger watched as some of it slid off, having no effect on the wild Pokémon. Some of it seeped in-between the cracks of its joints, however, so it'd probably be hindered a little bit speed-wise.

The Porygon seemed unaffected otherwise, and it took a long, hard look at the Roserade, seeming to study and lock onto her. Once it had her in its targeting system, its attacks would probably hit pretty easily.

“Be careful there, Joe. That Porygon is up to something,” she called, just as a warning.

Above her, the sky rumbled a little and she could faintly see a few flickers of lightning drawing near. They might have to fight in the storm after all.

“Alright, Roserade,” she heard from a voice ahead. “I want you to start things off with Worry Seed to negate Porygon's Ability. Then use Stun Spore.” Joe exclaimed and pointed his finger towards Roserade. Roserade gracefully twirled around on the spot, portraying her beauty towards the Porygon. Roserade did have a tendency to strut around and also when attacking she would focus on the visual aid of the attack, rather then the power aid. She was one Sassy Pokemon.

In the corner of Joe's eye he noticed a medium height women standing next to Argent. She had long reddish hair that curls up at the ends. It was pretty hard to see in the dark however Joe managed to noticed that she was wearing a long red canvas coat with what seemed like a dark coloured turtle neck. She wore dark trousers that were hooked to her waist by a belt that had some items dangling off. Then a small light purple cat-like Pokemon wondered into the picture and sat down beside her. Joe recognized that the Pokemon was Espeon, who are said to be able to read air currents allowing it to predict the future as well as its opponents' next moves. Argent handed over some small pieces of paper and then slowly wondered off down one of the corridors. As the women slowly walked closer to Joe, he immediately recognized her and smiled.

"Hello Ivy, I assume that you will be taking over from Argent?" Joe said. Ivy was one of Joe's friends from a long time back. They go back to when Joe was at school with her. Then Joe suddenly remembered something he saw before he left the office. It was on the notice board, printed on a large yellow A4 sheet of card. Then moments later Joe remembered and blurted out loud, "Congratulations on your promotion to Elite Ranger, I am sorry I didn't thank you sooner but I couldn't find you."

Then as Joe finished talking, Roserade started to prepare here attack. She held out both of her bouquets of roses and fired two small seeds from each of the bouquets. The small seed darted through the air like a bullet fired out of a M19 towards an enemy. Porygon meanwhile was started to flash in many colours almost like it was reading Roserade mind and powers. The small seeds eventually reached Porygon and suddenly soaked into the Porygon. The flashing started to fade and soon the Porygon returned to it's original pink and light blue colour. Joe was happy that he was able to stop Porygon from download something because if it did download, Roserade would be in serious trouble.

Porygon responded to the attack by shutting it's eyes and concentrating some energy around it's body. Suddenly rays of light were bent around the outer body of Porygon. The edges of Porygon's body started to become sharper and more dangerous. Almost like it placed on of its sides in a pencil sharpener. Joe recognized that move as Sharpen, a move that boosts the attack of the user.

Roserade started to gracefully dance around on the spot like before. However this time she was spinning her bouquets in a clockwise motion. As she rotated her bouquets, a small bright yellow powder dispersed from the center of the bouquets. Joe watched as she aimed the small bright yellow powder towards the sharpened Porygon. The yellow powder planted itself on the body of the Porygon and tried to diffuse into the body. However because Porygon had sharpened his body, the small yellow powder could not diffuse. Joe noticed some of the small powder droplets fall into the gaps between each of the body parts.

Then there was something weird happening happening to Porygon. It's small circular pupils changed colour from black to red. The were fixed onto the spinning Roserade, watching her gracefully twirl around. Then in a flash, they changed back to the original colour.

“Be careful there, Joe. That Porygon is up to something,” Ivy called towards Joe. He acknowledged the advice and swiftly turned to his dark red rucksack and plundered into it. Then seconds later he resurfaced taking a deep breath and the held out a small book. On the front cover it read, 'Joe's Book of Knowledge' He searched through the pages and then slammed his finger on one of the pages. Then he read out loud, "Lock On, usually noticed when the Pokemon suddenly focuses on it's opponent. The following move is almost certain to hit"

Joe glanced over towards Roserade and started to wonder what to do next. Roserade doesn't have a very good arsenal at her disposal and is almost going to be hurt next attack. I think it's time to use Infernape

Joe didn't like it when his Pokemon got hurt and a Pokemon like Roserade cannot take hits like Infernape. Joe grabbed the small red and white Pokeball and held it in his right hand. He pressed down on the small button and pointed it towards Roserade.

"Roserade return, you did good and helped us take a further step towards capturing Porygon," Joe said to his Pokeball and returned it to his belt. Then as he returned the Pokeball, he removed another one and threw it in the air. The ball landed on the floor and burst open. A white flash illuminated the dark room and a tall ape like Pokemon stood in the middle. His hot orange flame kept the room lit. Joe knew he could count on Infernape for times like these. Infernape produced a loud cry that vibrated through the cold air. The flame produced by Infernape was the only thing heating the room up.

Joe took a step forward and cried out loud, "Common Infernape, lets start things off with Mach Punch to shatter the sharpened body created by Porygon. Then I want you to use a combination of Fire Spin and Aerial Ace. You know what to do, I believe in you."

Then a small memory popped into Joe's mind, back to the time when Infernape used Fire Ace against Gliscor at Mt. Deckbi. Infernape propelled himself against a rock and started to form a white torpedo. Then when he was close enough, he started to create a ring of fire that would surrounding himself. Since then Infernape has learned to propel himself from standing so he doesn't need that rock or object anymore.

Joe trusted that this was the Pokemon to get the job done. Infernape has done it before with Riolu and Zorua. Infernape was the right Pokemon to take Porygon down. Joe put all his trust into his Pokemon. Lets hope they can deliver.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

“Hello, Ivy, I assume that you will be taking over from Argent?” Joe asked when when she got close. They had both been Rangers for a while, and they had made acquaintances before they got jobs at the Park.

She nodded. “That's right. He got a call from someone and apparently they needed him to finish something. He should be back in a few weeks though, so no worries.”

He then congratulated her on becoming an Elite Ranger, and she thanked him earnestly. It was still pretty new to her, so she wasn't exactly sure how she was supposed to feel right now. All she knew was that she'd just keep doing her job the best she could. Things would work out from there. At least she could help Leo and Chainy out more now.

Joe watched the Porygon Lock-on to his Pokémon, and he didn't look like he liked it one bit. After a few more minutes of deliberation, he called back his Pokémon. “Roserade, return. You did good and helped us take a further step toward capturing Porygon.” He then clipped her ball to his belt and pulled out another one. In a flash of white light there was a tall monkey lighting up the room, his head flame trailing like a warm cape behind. Ivy could feel it all the way over where she was standing. She was glad for it. The temperature had dropped.

Joe stepped forward and called out to his new partner. “C'mon, Infernape, let's start things off with a Mach Punch to shatter the sharpened body created by Porygon. Then I want you to use a combination of Fire Spin and Aerial Ace. You know what to do. I believe in you,” he reassured his Pokémon.

Ivy had heard stories of this monkey using that technique against a Gliscor at the mountain. If she remembered right, Buzz was the Ranger to take him. It had been pretty effective then, she heard, and she was sure that these two had a lot more experience now than when they were first here. This was bound to be interesting.

Haji's ears pricked, and she looked up to watch the clouds roll as thunder sounded. It was loud, and it shook the empty walls of the plant a bit. It was a lot closer than it was before. Then she smelled water on the air. “Oh joy,” she said, pulling up her hood. Haji was already working his way under her cloak and turning around to watch the battle.

    Then, it started to pour.

The rain came down in sheets, and she shivered despite her coverings and expecting it. There were more holes in the ceiling than she thought, and the water took advantage of it, filling the room with a hazy sheet that obstructed vision just slightly. It tapped viciously on the ground, creating a deafening ambiance. She debated the value of getting paid for this run.

Infernape stretched out his muscles, loosening the joints and preparing to strike. She looked ahead and saw the Porygon wobbling around too. It was rotating its now elongated joints, spinning them in circles as if it was working out the kinks in them. She supposed the Stun Spore had worked its way into some of them. The creature then began moving around in circles. She could see its form speed up as it did them until he was much faster than he started.

Then, the monkey struck. He shot off like a bullet, pulling back his fist back and launching himself at the computerized Pokémon. The Porygon saw, but didn't look too worried. It continued its movement, probably thinking it would make it a little harder to hit. Then they collided.

Ivy saw Infernape's fist glance off Porygon's front, sliding toward its left arm joint. The monkey hissed as the Porygon slid back in the water, causing miniature waves to flare up on either side of him. Ivy struggled to see what happened. Infernape was cradling the fist that had hit Porygon against his chest while backing up. When he got closer, she noticed the cut on it. Since Porygon had sharpened its body, it must've been enough to cut the monkey when he tried to hit. Ivy winced. The small cuts were always the ones that hurt the most.

Then the monkey prepared his next attack. He looked a little skeptical about fire in the rain, but he went through with it anyway. He took a second to focus, and then with a running leap, shot off in a spin, like a bullet. Fire erupted around him, and as the rain hit, it turned into a steam that sizzled. She watched him approach the Porygon, and it did the same.

The creature watched with a calculated eye, looking like it was lining up a shot. The machine Pokémon hummed, and its joints rotated more. Then, when Infernape was about to strike, lightning flashed down from a hole in the ceiling. The entire room lit up with a blinding yellow-white, and Ivy had to cover her eyes.

When she could finally see, Porygon was sprawled on the ground. It got up slowly, but it looked like it had taken some damage. There was a small dent in the front of it, probably where Infernape had barreled into it.

The monkey wasn't much better off. She could still see the crackles of electricity fading where they were wrapped around his limbs. She thought for a minute that he might've gotten paralyzed, but he demonstrated his health by getting up immediately after the shocks from the Thunder attack faded.

“Ouch,” Ivy said, wondering what Joe would do next. All of this rain wasn't doing much good for Infernape's fire attacks, and the water was only helping to conduct electricity. Joe would need to think of something good in order to prevent his partner from getting fried.

"Common Infernape, lets start things off with Mach Punch to shatter the sharpened body created by Porygon. Then I want you to use a combination of Fire Spin and Aerial Ace. You know what to do, believe in you." Joe ordered to Infernape, who seemed to be intrigued by the Pokemon standing opposite him. Although Infernape has seen rare and interesting Pokemon, Porygon tops the chart.

Suddenly Joe heard a loud rumble above his head. He slowly raised his head and noticed small holes in the ceiling. Soon this building will be unsuitable to visit with all the holes in the ceiling and holes in the walls. The loud rumbling started to sound louder and louder, almost like it was coming towards them. Joe looked across towards Ivy and noticed that she was raising her hood over her long reddish hair Joe returned to the battle and stared hard into into it's small circular pupils. If Joe was a scientist, he would have loved to continue his fathers work on this create, try and answer the questions that hindered the knowledge of many intelligent scientists. However he wasn't a scientist, he was a Pokemon Trainer who has vowed to collect as many interesting and rare Pokemon as he can, almost like Cameron.

As Joe was staring into the eye's of Porygon, a small cold droplet liquid landed on his small plump nose. Joe raised his head and looked for the source of the liquid. When he raised his head, he looked up, through the small holes in the ceiling, and noticed a large black raincloud hovering over the plant, almost like it was waiting for someone. The rain droplets started to come down more vigorously, pounding down on the gray concrete floor, creating a small repetitive tune of drip-drop-drip-drop. Joe quickly lifted his hoodie over his short golden brown hair. He whipped away the remaining water droplets that managed to land on his tanned face.

Joe stared long and hard at both Pokemon wondering how they would adapt to the different conditions. However before he could process his thoughts Porygon started to rotate his elongated joints and speedily move from side to side, completely different from it's movement before. It was almost like the effects of Stun Spore had been negated. This isn't good, It's raining and it's pouring, Porygon is fast and I feel something even worse is going to happen

It was Infernape's turn to attack, he raised his fist in a upright position and launched off towards Porygon. Porygon continued to move from side to side, like it was not bothered about Infernape attacking it. As Infernape was within touching distance of Porygon, he outstretched his long fist and collided with Porygon's hard skin. With the moment of the attack, Infernape sped past Porygon and span around on the spot.

Joe looked closely at Infernape and noticed the large Ape Pokemon cradling his fist that had just recently collided with Porygon. Then a small different colour drop fell on the floor. The red drop dripped onto the hard concrete floor, in synchronization with the droplets. Then as Infernape removed the hand covering the clenched fist, a small red cut appeared. Infernape must have scratched it when he collided with Porygon's sharp body.

However putting aside the pain of the cut, Infernape went away with the next order with a little bit of hesitation. Infernape hadn't used this move in the rain, and Joe felt a little worried whether the move would work or not. Infernape launched off the the solid grey concrete and span through the wet damp air. Spinning like a torpedo, flames erupted from the top of the tip of the spinning Infernape. Yes, part one completed

However as Infernape was torpedoing towards Porygon, the virtual Pokemon started to rotate it's blue triangular prism feet and it's blue rectangular prism tail. Then as Infernape was about to strike, a huge white flash appeared before Joe. He quickly shielded his eyes and the amount of light that filled the bare empty room. Then he slowly lowered his hands and saw two Pokemon lying on the wet concrete floor. Then one by one, they both slowly got back onto their feet, ready to test each others power and stamina. Joe noticed a small crack in Porygon's armor, properly caused by the impact of the Flame Ace. However Infernape also looked like he took some damage as small yellow sparks emitted from his body.

So Porygon used Thunder, a move that is bound to never miss is used when it is raining. Something tells me there is something special about this Porygon.

“Ouch,” Ivy said in a high tone. She was right, that was painful and if Joe didn't get rid of the the weather, Infernape would be fried any minute soon. However the question was how to get rid of the rain, or at least stop it for a few minutes. Think Joe, think!

Joe looked above at the small holes in the ceiling with water pouring down. I need to either cover up these holes to stop the water, however there is a lot of holes and it would be very hard to cover them up. Then as Joe was looking at the small holes, he notice a small metal framing the lay between the layers of plastic and concrete. Then he followed the ceiling to the corner and noticed the part of the wall was made out of a steel frame. Maybe just maybe

"Infernape, I want you to aim a Flamethrower towards the metal frames above you. That way it will heat up the room and halt the fall of rain drops. After you must act quick and use Flare Blitz on Porygon. This might be your only chance to use a Fire move so be quick." Joe commanded to Infernape. Joe knew that Infernape would have to act fast or else the rain would soon it will cool the heated metal frames.

"Let's do this Infernape" Joe said, trying to boost the moral of Infernape after that powerful Thunder move.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Joe didn't look happy about the damage Infernape took. She didn't blame him; she was less than happy whenever Haji or one of her other Pokémon got injured in a fight, especially if it was from a bad call on her part. He studied the ceiling for a long time, checking out every inch of the room, as if by glaring at the rain he could make it go away.

Then, the expression of an idea came to his face. “Infernape,” he called to his Pokémon. “I want you to aim a Flamethrower towards the metal frames above you. After, use a Flare Blitz on Porygon. This might be your only chance to use a fire move, so be quick,” he instructed.

Ivy saw what he was trying to do. Since the room had multiple holes in the ceiling, it was revealing the metal mesh netting they put up for something for the ceiling tiles to set against. They conducted heat pretty well if she remembered correctly. Her father used to be in the business, and sometimes he had liked to share knowledge even if she and her brother didn't want it. She missed those days now. Funny how the random information came in handy.

“Let's do this, Infernape,” Joe said, cheering his Pokémon on.

Ivy thought the plan was a little risky, but they had to try something. The rain made the fire attacks he used pretty useless, and it also gave Porygon the option of that devastating Thunder attack. He didn't want to take too many of those, especially because the cackling bolts could leave Infernape paralyzed. It was worth a shot, at any rate.

The monkey nodded and prepared his attack, drawing the fire from within him as he tried to move under a part of the ceiling that was still intact. While he was doing this, Ivy glanced over to the Porygon and saw it studying the Infernape closely. She saw its eyes trace its every move, like it had set them to lock-on to him like it had with Roserade. It was probably planning some sort of attack. It began charging up something, but her eyes were drawn back to Infernape.

He let loose his stream of fire, flames that she knew burned almost as hot as Deckbi's flowing lava streams. They flared up to the wire nets, though the rain stopped some of it. The effect was instantaneous on the area he first it. Steam erupted like a geyser from the gap in the roof, sending steam rolling down and along through the whole room. It was a thick steam too, and it kept growing as Infernape fired off his flames at more showing wires along the ceiling.

With a semi-proper cover, he charged up his next attack, bringing fire to his limbs as he raced off after the Porygon. Ivy just saw it finish floating higher in the air, like it was suspended by wires, or maybe magnets, since it was bobbing up and down like a fluctuating current. It didn't have a lot of time to respond to the incoming attack, and Infernape slammed into it with flaming arms and legs that struck out hard. The flames flared as he made contact, and then the monkey backed up, looking like a little of the backlash had caught him.

Then steam cleared after, being still pelted by rain. It fell back across the field like a sheet, only leaving those few spaces that were covered remotely out of the downpour. Infernape backed up so he was under a ledge, and he watched his opponent carefully.

The Porygon was knocked down, but it got up quickly, returning to whatever magnetized field it had created. Then it studied Infernape again after checking its injuries. Ivy could see a couple tracks of where the fire had singed him. Then, a strange thing happened. Its pink and blue plates faded to a light red color, darker than they started. It almost looked like the skin of a Charmander, a common Fire type. Somehow, the computerized Pokémon had changed its type to mimic the one it was attacked with.

“That Porygon's pretty tricky. Best be careful, Joe,” she said.

“Infernape,” he called to his Infernape. “I want you to aim a Flamethrower towards the metal frames above you. After, use a Flare Blitz on Porygon. This might be your only chance to use a fire move, so be quick," Joe commanded.

Rain continued to pelt down from the dark thundercloud that lingered over the Abandoned Power Plant. Joe looked up and watched the rain drops plummet faster than before. The cold rain droplets crashed onto the top of Joe's hood and then slowly flowed down over his eyes and nose. A chilling breeze gushed down the back of Joe, all of his hairs stood up vertical to welcome the gushing breeze.

Infernape got the battle moving and opened his mouth wide open and a produced a powerful hot flame that was targeted on one of the steel frames. Joe shielded his eyes from the amount of heat and energy produced by Infernape. The heat radiated through the small gaps between Joe's fingers and started to heat his face. Joe removed his hand as soon as he noticed the heat dying down and looked up towards Infernape. Infernape was taking in deep breaths, trying to regain his breath after using a lot of power and energy. However on the other side of the room, the small Porygon was creating a synthetic sound again and the colour of the small circular pupils changed from dark black to a light red, similar to before against Roserade. This time Joe didn't need to get out his small red book again, he remembered what move Porygon just used. Infernape is locked onto something now, we must act fast

Then suddenly the started to stop, apart from the few drops that were now dripping from Joe's forehead. The steel frames had been heated at the right temperature that the rain would be turned to steam, which benefited Joe and Infernape, since Porygon's Thunder would be less effective now. The room erupted into thick steam. Joe stared ahead and tried to see what was going on, however it was very hard to tell because of the thick steam.

Now Infernape could attack with the bit of cover. He channeled fire to all his limbs and sprang off his hind legs and blasted towards Porygon. The flames around Infernape was incredible, Joe had rarely seen this amount of energy, power and passion in Infernape before. It seemed like he really wanted to prove a point. As Infernape was blasting towards Porygon, the Virtual Pokemon started to hover above the gray concrete floor and start to move from side to side like one of the football players on a football table. As Infernape got closer, his flames erupted outwards and then collided with Porygon with so much power. Infernape landed on the floor and looked towards the fallen Porygon. Joe noticed Infernape limping a bit after the attack, almost like it had taken some damage from the move it just used.

The thick steam slowly whittled away as the torment of the rain continued to pour down, removing any heat in the steel frames. The rain collided with the fallen Porygon's body, creating a different type of rhythm than before, drip-drip-drop-drip-drip-drop. Then the Virtual Pokemon raised it's body into the air and stared at Infernape with it's light red eyes. Then out of nowhere the colour of Porygon's plates transformed from the light blue and pink to a red and dark red colour. Joe studied the move and then resorted to his notepad. He flicked through the damp pages and then stopped on a certain page.

"Conversion, the signature of the Porygon family, The user copies the type of the move used before it and transforms into that type."

So Porygon is a Fire Type now

“That Porygon's pretty tricky. Best be careful, Joe,” Ivy said to Joe. Joe turned to her and nodded before returning to the battle. Infernape looked already tired and warn out but there was not much he could do against a Pokemon the same type as him. He had to think of another way around this.

Then an idea sprang into his mind.

"Infernape, I want you to have some rest, you look awfully tired and I may need you later. You did your ultimate best and I thank you for it," Joe said holding Infernape's Pokeball in his hand. He clicked the button and pointed the ball towards Infernape. As Infernape was disappearing into the ball, Joe noticed that Infernape was sad, almost like he never managed to prove a point. Joe whispered into the Pokeball, "Thanks for what you did."

Then with a swift action, Joe swapped Infernape's ball with another one and chucked it into the air. "Come on out Krookodile." The ball bounced on the ground and then burst open. A flash of light appeared and then dimmed down to revel a large red crocodile. It stood on it's back legs and crossed it's arms.

"Alright Krookodile, this is your first time in the park so listen carefully. I want you to use Sandstorm to eliminate the failing rain. Then after I want you to use the combination we have been working on of Smack Down and Earthquake. However since we are in the park, I want you to focus more power in a small confined area. I don't want this whole building fallen down" Joe said to the crocodile Pokemon.

When Joe obtained Krookodile as a Sandile he knew it would be a vital asset in his team. From day one Joe started to teach Sandile new and more powerful moves so that one day it will help us. Joe had been quiet impressed with the power of Krookodile so one day he started to teach Krookodile a useful combination.

"OK so Krookodile, I am going to teach you a useful combination. This combination will help you against Pokemon like Eelektross and other electric Pokemon who have used Magnet Rise. So the first step is to leap into the air and slam the opponent into the ground. The higher you go, the more momentum you will have, which means the more damage you will cause them," Joe said to his Krookodile, who seemed to be intrigued with what Joe is telling him.

"The next part is when you smacked you opponent into the ground, you land far away and then create a small but powerful earthquake. If we manage to perfect this move, I can take you to the Park but you need to perfect the earthquake part, if not you can take down building, forest and caves with this move. You understand?" Joe asked Krookodile. Krookodile smiled and nodded it's head in agreement.

"OK, let's try it on my Metagross, you don't need to go easy on it, I have trained him to take attacks and attacks," Joe said as he grabbed a small red and white ball from his belt. He launched it into the gentle summers breeze and it bounced on the soft green grass. A white flash emitted from the Pokeball and a large steel Pokemon stood before Krookodile and Joe.

"OK, Metagross use Magnet Rise. Krookodile, use Smack Down and then Earthquake," Joe commanded to both Pokemon.

Metagross launched his steel body into the air and hovered above the ground. Krookodile then launched his body into the air and looked down at the floating Metagross. Then as he was free falling through the air, Krookodile outstretched one of his hands and plummeted towards Metagross. Within seconds, the large crocodile Pokemon collided with the steel giant and sent it crashing into the ground. Krookodile bounced back and started to focus energy into the ground. Joe started to brace himself however he noticed in the distance that the ground was only shaking beneath Metagross. Krookodile stamped his foot on the ground and then suddenly the large metal Pokemon was sent flying into the air.

"Excellent, Metagross return," Joe said grabbing Metagross's Pokeball and returning it as it was in free fall. "You did great today Krookodile, I think your ready."

"You can do it," Joe said under his breath.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Joe thought about what Porygon's type change would mean for the battle. In the end, he decided that Infernape wasn't going to do much against a Pokémon of the same type. He called the fire monkey back after thanking him, letting him rest. She was sure he'd come in handy later, so it wouldn't due to wear down his partners too much before they really go into the run.

In his place he called out a Krookodile, a large bipedal crocodile that was tinged a maroon-brown and had black stripes in places. Ivy always thought they were really cool, and if she came across one, she wouldn't mind snagging it up. This one seemed to have a bit of an attitude, or maybe they were all like this. It crossed its arms and looked a little smug as it waited for direction.

“Alright, Krookodile, this is your first time in the Park, so listen carefully. I want you to use Sandstorm to eliminate the falling rain. Then, I want you to use the combination we have been working on of Smack down and Earthquake,” Joe told him.

Ivy was very interested in seeing this new technique that she had only heard about. Joe had told his Pokémon to go easy, so she didn't need to worry about the room collapsing. She didn't know if the ceiling could take much more. She worried about his Sandstorm call though. While changing the weather in battles worked mostly when the sky was clear, she wasn't sure if Krookodile could change the natural weather conditions when it was like this. She supposed she'd find out.

The crocodile concentrated, and then the wind picked up. It blew the rain around in torrents, angling the sheets so previous places that had been dry were no longer. Then, the wind collected bits of debris from the fallen ceiling tiles and dirt from the bared ground. It mixed with the water, and a cool splash had her frowning as she wiped a fleck of mud off her face. Looks like they weren't just going to get wet.

The raining mud made things both easier and harder to see at the same time. It was better than the blinding sheets, but it was blotting out some things. It stuck to the ground where it splattered, and it pooled on the floor to make slippery patches. So much for that plan.

While the crocodile was getting ready for the next attack, the Porygon was preparing too. As she watched, it drew in energy and then started to wobble. Then, the Ranger had to blink because she thought she was seeing double. One turned to two and then two turned to three. Suddenly there were three red-colored Porygon standing in a triangle formation.

The Krookodile then shot off toward its opponent, aiming to knock it down in order to get hit by the following attack. Now there was a problem though, as there were more of them to hit. As he approached, they all started up an attack too. Rings formed in front of them, circling around and around with red, blue, and yellow orbs, spinning faster and faster.

The crocodile charged, leaping as high as the broken ceiling would allow him as he got close. He seemed to struggle deciding which Porygon he should hit, so instead of simply picking one, he held out both arms strongly and came down on two, sending them crashing into the floor. The tri-colored attack slowed down for a second, so she knew one of the two he hit was the real one. The only problem was that the clones could injure him just as much.

He slid back as he concentrated again, focusing on the floor. With a heavy stomp, the earth cracked and the room shook, though it didn't wobble as badly where she was standing as where the battlers were. The floor churned and heaved as it shifted, striking the two downed computerized Pokémon.

Then, there was a flash of light from the still-floating clone. The crocodile had to shield her eyes. Ivy couldn't blame him, so did she, and she was standing much farther away. When they could all see again, the other two were standing, and all three were charging up their Tri-attack again. Krookodile tried to dodge as the orbs were shot off.

He let the yellow ones hit; the thunder energy wasn't going to hurt the Ground type much, if at all. The others he moved quick to avoid, but he didn't manage to escape all of them. Two blue ones and one red one slammed into him, hitting his chest with a poof of white energy that was dampened by the mud flinging about. Ivy waited with held breath to see if he was alright. That attack was known to cause status effects pretty easily.

The Ground type was knocked down, but he seemed okay, much to her relief. He got back up and got closer to his Trainer to await the next order while staring down his opponent and its two fake lackeys. They were all flecked with spots of mud against their red coloring, looking like some strange exotic animal.

The rest of them weren't doing much better. Her red vest had dark spots all over it, and despite her hood, she could feel some on her face. Haji was probably the only one not marked, huddled inside her cloak and out of the elements.

“Alright, Krookodile, this is your first time in the Park, so listen carefully. I want you to use Sandstorm to eliminate the falling rain. Then, I want you to use the combination we have been working on of Smack down and Earthquake,” Joe said to his Krookodile.

Krookodile started focus energy around his body, creating a large gale of wind. The wind picked up small debris from the ceiling and dirt from the ground creating a sand like effect. The sand tornado collided with the wet cold water and started to fuse together. The water mixed with the sand to more a brown, thick mud. Then the gale of wind started to through the mud around the battle arena. You could say it was an improvement than the onslaught of rain; however it would be interesting to see what effect this would have on Porygon.

Then in the corner of Joe’s eye, the Porygon disappeared for three seconds and then it appeared again. However to Joe’s surprise, there were now three Porygon’s ahead of Krookodile, who at this point looked quiet confused. Simultaneously the three Porygon produced a synthetic cry. Joe shuddered and a cold feeling rushed down the back of Joe. He hated that noise.

It was Krookodile’s turn to finally use this new combo he had spent so hard trying to perfect. Krookodile shot into the wet damp air and looked beneath him. He started to contemplate on which Porygon to aim for, but had a better idea. As he started to free fall through the air, each of the three Porygon’s started to produce a multicoloured ring around them.

Krookodile continued to fall through the damp wet air and then outstretched both arms like a plane soaring through the sky. Then with a crash, both arms collided with a Porygon and sent them crashing into the ground. The multicoloured rings started to fade away which meant that Krookodile had hit the real one.

He backed away and started to focus some power towards the two grounded Pokemon. Joe couldn’t feel the attack however he watched as the floor started to vibrate, tossing the lying pokemon into the air and then fall to the shaking ground.

Then out of the blue, a white flash emitted over from the Porygon side of the battle field. Joe quickly shielded his eyes to prevent any harm to himself. After the flash died down, he looked ahead and noticed all three Porygon’s up floating above the muddy surface with the same multicoloured rings around them. As Krookodile opened his eye’s he noticed nine orbs bursting towards him. Three red, another three yellow, and the last three blue.

The yellow orbs collided with Krookodile, however didn’t have any effect since Ground Types are resist Electric types. Krookodile tried to dodge the remaining orbs; however two blue ones and one red one slammed into his chest. Joe waited to see whether Krookodile was alright, but soon he was back on his feet waiting for the next orders.

Joe stared ahead looked at the three Pokemon. The mud slapped all over them, almost like they were a new species waiting to be discovered. Then he turned to Ivy. She was covered in brown mud that was splattered all over her dark red coat. Two small purple ears popped out from her coat. Joe almost forgot that her Espeon was hiding inside there.

Joe returned to the battle and started to focus. He noticed that all three Porygon were huffing, a sign of tiredness. The battle was nearly over and Joe knew it.

“Krookodile, I want you to use Stone Edge and fire at all three Porygon’s, we need to hit the right one. After you attack I am going to make the capture” commanded Joe.

He reached into his bag and removed a small yellow and green ball with the letter ‘S’ branded on the front. He waited till Krookodile had completed the move before throwing the Pokeball. It had taken 25 years for his dad to see this Pokemon and experiment on it, it would have taken Joe an hour for him to see one and capture one. What an achievement.

“Krookodile,” Joe called, “I want you to use Stone Edge and fire at all three Porygon. We need to hit the right one. After you attack I am going to make the capture.”

The Trainer then took out a small yellow and green ball; a Superball. They had a little better rate than normal Parkballs, having something to do with how the hinge fastened on the design. He then waited for his crocodile to make his move.

The Ground type focused, drawing strength into his limbs. With a large stomp, he loosened materials in the floor and sent those already in pieces sailing up into the air. Since they weren't outside or somewhere with more materials, like Deckbi that was filled with rocks, he had to improvise. The bits of flooring and fallen ceiling rose and fell slower, imbued with that certain energy that Pokémon possessed. It made them hittable.

The Krookodile swung his massive tail and sent two pieces flying at high speeds. Then he swung out with his arms and lashed at the others, sending them all sailing toward the trio of computerized Pokémon at the other side of the room. Ivy could hear them whistling through the mud flecks. She hoped the falling dirty water wouldn't weigh them down and send them off course.

Two chunks of debris slammed into one Porygon, throwing it into the wall to disappear with a poof of smoke. One clone down. Another chunk of debris was hit with a few slabs of falling mud, and it arced downward too early to hit anything. More pieces were flying just too fast to be affected.

The remaining Porygon were charing up another attack, this time flashing blues and purples and pinks as it gathered power. One one of them was preparing to attack though, the other one had gotten somewhat in front, perhaps to decoy the other attacks. A piece sailed into the other clones head, the one standing in front, and it disappeared too.

This left the way open for the real Porygon's attack, and it released the Signal Beam with a shrill digital cry. Blocks of different colors shot out at Krookodile in those same sunset colors it was charging with, tiny auras surrounded the squares of light. The croc's attack flew past at the same time, and the two both found their marks.

Krookodile was hit squarely in the chest and the attack caused him to hunch over his wounded area, sinking down to the ground a bit. That type of energy had super effective affects on Dark type Pokémon, and unfortunately, Krookodile was in part.

After the attack, Porygon was a bit unmovable, and some of the last chunks of the improvised Stone Edge attack slammed into it, sending it sprawling. It didn't move to get up right away, and Joe took his shot, sending the ball flying.

The device hit the computerized Pokémon with a small thunk Ivy could barely hear because of the mud still falling. It snapped shut and stayed that way, lighting up in the center to display the ball was occupied.

“Congratulations,” she said, struggling to walk over to the downed ball while Haji tried to stay under her cloak. It was a bit awkward since she had to watch where she stepped too so she didn't slip, but they made it. She pocketed the ball so it didn't get lost (and because it was policy; they once had a Trainer that tried to run off with the Pokémon he caught before the run was finished, hence the Ranger holding them) and looked up at the sky as the mud began to stop.

The water cleared out and ran clean for a minute before slowing down and stopping. Thunder still rumbled in the distance, but at least it wasn't raining. Haji came out from under her cloak and shook himself off. “Nice and dry are you?” she said, and all she got back through the bond was a bit of smugness. Then she turned to Joe. “Alright, one down. Where to next?”

“Krookodile, I want you to use Stone Edge and fire at all three Porygon’s, we need to hit the right one. After you attack I am going to make the capture” commanded Joe.

Krookodile started to focus power into his limbs. Then with a huge force, he stopped his foot down on the concrete floor. Small pieces of debris bounced in the air, ready to be fired at will. Krookodile raised his large red tail and slammed the airborne debris towards the three Porygon's.

The mud continued to fall and drip onto the falling concrete slabs. Two pieces of debris collided with one of the projected Porygon clones, sending it crashing into the wall. Then a bright started to emit from the other end. One of the Porygon's were charging up an attack with many different colours. Joe watched as a large piece of debris was directing itself towards the Porygon who was charging up. Then suddenly in a flash, the other Porygon leaped in front of the attack and was sent crashing into the ground

So we have the real one

A bright green and blue light shone through the dark muddy room. Joe shielded his eyes for a second and then opened them. Krookodile was sent crashing into the wall, looked pretty injured from the attack. Then Joe had an idea of what the attack was. It was Signal Beam, a bug move which is super effect against Dark Pokemon, and unfortunately Krookodile was part Dark.

Joe shook his head to clear his thoughts and chucked the small green and yellow ball towards Porygon. The ball bounced off Porygon and opened, swallowing the Virtual Pokemon. Then it dropped to the floor, rolling around once, and then twice. A small click was heard which used to explain the Pokemon was captured. Ivy walked over to the ball and picked it up and placed it in her bag. Joe smiled, it was what a Ranger was supposed to do when a Pokemon was captured.

The rain ahead started to die down, and the black cloud slowly made it's way due south. Joe smiled at his capture, he always wanted one of these.

“Congratulations, Nice and dry are you?” Ivy said, as she let her Espeon jump out from her coat, "Where to next?”

"Hmmm, somewhere away from that cloud. How about down that corridor?" Joe said as he pointed towards one of the many dark corridors that lead from the room.
