    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Joe wasted no time in taking out his camera and snapping a creature of the great dog. Just then, it started to downpour again, soaking them and anything else. Ivy hoped his picture wasn't affected as much. If the quality wasn't good, the buyers back at the Main Outpost wouldn't pay as much for it.

Raikou watched them for a few seconds more until the lightning flashed again and thunder rumbled in the distance. Then it seemed to disappear just as quickly as the lightning struck.

Deciding to hurry on before they were even more drenched, they continued on, aiming for the door on the other side. Thankfully, part of the ceiling was still intact, so the rain didn't come down as hard in spots. That didn't seem to matter much though, as the rain was whipped around by the wind.

The door ahead was surrounded by a bunch of empty barrels. Some where upright while the majority of them were knocked on their side. They were the big, white plastic ones. She couldn't tell what had been in them, but if she had to guess, it was probably some sort of glue or repairing substance. Small pieces of wood and tubing and other debris were poking out of some of them, suggesting they had been used as garbage collectors after.

Pointy, black-tipped ears shot out of one of the downed barrels closest to them, followed by a small yellow body. The small mouse-like Pokémon had two small pink circles on its cheeks, and it looked genuinely cheery to see them.

“Pichu!” it cried happily. It probably didn't have a lot of company here.

“What about this Pichu?” she asked.

Joe clicked the large button on the top and a quick flash illuminated the room. He managed to get a great picture of the Raikou before another lightning bolt struck and then disappeared. Rain poured down through the cracks in the ceiling and within minutes, Joe and Ivy were soaked. They started to head towards a small door at the side of the large room. It seemed like the only dry place in the room.

Joe opened the door and noticed a load of plastic containers filling the room. Some standing upright and others on their sides. Joe studied the barrels and noticed some white resin leaking from one of the barrels. It looked like glue of some sort. Then a pair of black pointy ears appeared from behind a barrel. Then the rest of its body leaped into the air. Joe laughed to himself and bent down to greet the Pokemon.

"Hello Pichu," Joe said as he firmly rubbed the top of it's head.

“What about this Pichu?” she asked.

"As much as it appeals, I am going to have to turn it down" Joe said, removing a Slowpoke Tail if the Pichu wasn't going to let us past.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Joe turned the Pichu down, and Ivy could see the Electric-type's lip wobbling at the words. It gripped onto the side of the barrel, and as they tried to pass, she saw it wanting to follow, stepping out a little and then clutching the barrel tightly. It made small noises, and she could swear she hear a sniffle.

Ivy debated on just keeping on, but she knew they could be pretty loud when rattled, and who knew what other things it could attract with the noise. “Eh, you better hand it that tail, Joe. We don't want it putting up too much of a fuss.”

She watched Joe set the tail down, and then they continued out the door. The Pichu drug the tail back into its barrel and they saw no more of it.

They entered into another room, and this one was full of mirrors. Every side of the walls barring the door they came through and the one on the right wall next to them was covered in reflective material. It looked like this room probably was for an experiment of some sort, though she couldn't tell you what it was. The previous room looked like it could've held a lot of computers or something for keeping track of data.

A form was on the far side of the room, looking into the mirror. It looked sort of like a sleek sheep in a way, though it stood upright. It was mostly yellow with black necklace-like bands on its neck, tail and ears. A red ball was on the tip of that tail, and a matching one rested on its forehead. It had a white underbelly with flipper-like arms. It turned toward them and cutely said, “Ammm.”

“Hey, there an Ampharos,” she said. “Want to catch it?”

The Pichu's face slowly changed, it started to look down towards the floor. Joe tired to walk past the small electric mouse Pokemon, however it simply looked up and clung onto the nearest plastic barrel. Joe felt a bit sorry and he could sense a small bit of guilt for the Pichu.

“Eh, you better hand it that tail, Joe. We don't want it putting up too much of a fuss.” Ivy advised Joe. He simply nodded and lowered the Slowpoke tail towards the Pichu and watched as it yanked it from his hands and carried on. After the Pichu climbed back into a barrel, Ivy and Joe walked towards a small door in the corner of the room. They opened it and it lead to a larger room full of mirrors. It must have been used as an experiment room, maybe Joe's father used to conduct experiments in this room.

Joe scanned the room for any Pokemon, at to his surprise he noticed a large shadow in the corner looking into the mirror's. The Pokemon took a step forward, illuminating parts of his body. It stood upright, his long yellow neck stretching towards the stars, his small red ball on his tail reminiscent to the one on his forehead. He noticed the pair of trainers and cried out loud, "Ammm."

“Hey, there an Ampharos,” she said. “Want to catch it?”

Joe smiled and removed his camera from his waist. He in front of his eye and zoomed in on the Light Pokemon. He clicked the button of the camera and watched as the Ampharos turned away after being hit by the flash of light.

"I think we should go before he gets angry" Joe said to Ivy, fumbling his camera in his hands, trying to force it in his bag.

In response to her question, Joe pulled out his camera to line up a good shot. She guessed he didn't want to catch it. He hit the button, and the flash of light from the camera reflected off of all the walls and illuminated the entire space. Ampharos looked a little annoyed as it turned its head away to prevent from being blinded. She didn't blame it.

“I think we should go before he gets angry,” Joe said, putting his camera away.

She thought it a good idea and nodded, leading them out of the room. The next space they entered seemed like it used to be an adjoining hall to the outside. She could see where the hall continued down from where half-fallen and destroyed pillars made the barrier. It had spaces that opened up into a courtyard of sorts, though it was in pretty bad shape. Pieces of building sat on the ground, and what little patches of grass there had been had overgrown into small, shabby jungles.

The grass rustled a bit, and then a Mareep poked its head out of the foliage, baaing at them. It's fluffy cream coat was littered with small pieces of grass and its blue skin lacked the usual luster it carried.

    “What about that one?”

Ivy guided Joe out of the room swiftly, to avoid any contact with the Ampharos. She opened the door and entered the next space. It was very different to the other corridors Joe had seen, this corridor lead onto a courtyard. Like the rest of the other hallways and rooms, the courtyard was in a complete dump. Pieces of rubble lying across the floor, fallen pillar remains scattered by the walls. Where grass patches were laid before, now were mysterious small jungles.

The small patch of grass which lay ahead slowly rustled in the wind and then a small sheep Pokemon slowly walked out. The thick cloudy fur was supported on small blue stalk like feet.

“What about that one?” Ivy asked Joe. Joe froze and watched the Mareep slowly walk towards him. He had a phobia of sheep and hated them. He hid behind Ivy and muttered the words, "No... Th..anks..."

He reached into his pocket and grabbed Poketoy just in case Mareep doesn't leave them

As soon as Joe saw the Mareep, he immediately ducked behind her and said, “No... Th...anks..” His broken speech suggested that maybe he had some sort of phobia. She wasn't sure why since Mareep was cute and fuzzy, but she supposed fears like that didn't have to make any sense.

They tried to take backward steps, but the small sheep was curious, and it took several steps toward them, calling out softly. She felt Joe shudder behind her and didn't have the heart to laugh even though the image was kinda funny.

“Got a doll of sorts on hand?” she asked, and she was answered with the Pokétoy he handed her. She carefully tossed the doll in the sheep's direction, and it seemed to be satisfied with that as an offering. It tugged the toy back into the grass where it came from and then they saw no more of it.

They made their way through the rest of the destroyed courtyard, avoiding the fallen and broken columns and steering clear of the other patches of grass. A bit of the ceiling was intact near the other door, and it made a half roof over that part of the hall, though parts of it were missing.

Before they could get to the door, a shadow appeared overhead, blotting out what little light was coming through one of the holes in the roof.

A spinning ring came into sight as it floated down between them and the door, and a set of three gears followed. There was one large one gear in back, seeming to form the base. Two smaller ones were connected, but only the one on the side had facial features. A surprised looking mouth and nose sat on it.

“Wow, a Klinklang. I've only ever heard about those. Want to catch it?”

Joe, still hiding behind Ivy, slowly took a few step backs, hoping that the Mareep would not follow them. However followed them, eager to find out what the odd people are doing. Joe shuddered as the sheep Pokemon called out loud, one thing he hated more than sheep were chicken's.

“Got a doll of sorts on hand?” Ivy asked him. Joe slowly handed the PokeToy to Ivy and watched as she flung it towards the Mareep. The Mareep took the PokeToy and took it back to the bush where it appeared from.

They continued to walk across the deserted courtyard, avoiding fallen pillars and debris scattered across the yard. The ceiling was half intact over a small door that presumably lead to another room or corridor of some sort.

Then a shadow blocked any light that was entering the room, two bright eyes glared towards Joe. As it go closer, Joe noticed a large rotating gear, followed by two smaller gears, almost attached to it.

“Wow, a Klinklang. I've only ever heard about those. Want to catch it?” Ivy asked Joe.

"No thank you, however it looks like a really interesting Pokemon, if it dosen't let use past, I will us a PokeDoll" Joe answered as he stared into the eyes of Kinklang.

The gears to the two foot Pokémon rotated and made a soft grinding noise as that lone eye looked at them. It didn't lose the surprised expression, so Ivy thought it was probably permanent. It still looked funny, and the small white x over where the other eye should be didn't help.

It didn't attack them or get in the way though. As she stepped forward, it hovered to the side and just stood by the door like a sentinel. She watched it carefully as they moved past to go through the door she pulled open, but it didn't move. She shrugged; it was about time the wild Pokémon behaved and didn't cause any trouble.

They came into a room littered with boxes. There were some stacked neatly three and four high along the wall, and there were small stacks of them in the middle of the floor. They made the walkway sort of a maze through the place, though some boxes were only one or two high. It was pretty strange, considering this place had been abandoned a while ago and they had taken all the equipment with them.

She got closer to a stack in front of her and peered inside, a confused expression coming to her face. “Hey, Joe, come look at this.” She motioned him over, and as she undid the flaps on the top box, they found appliances. This one had a coffeemaker and a microwave. Another look in the box next to it held a small oscillating fan. The larger one next to those had a smaller fridge unit.

“Well that's weird,” she said, scratching her head. “A lot of these things look new, and all of the equipment was supposed to be taken out of here a long time ago. Look at the boxes.” She pointed at the bottom of one. “They're not even that worn or damp. You saw how rain leaks into this place. Those things should be moldy and torn by now.”

She thought for a moment, wondering who in the world brought these here. She really hoped there wasn't a poacher group deciding to camp out here. If they worked hard enough at it, they could probably sap enough electricity to make some of these things run. Even worse, they could nab Pokémon to do it.

Suddenly, a mischievous sound from the top of a pyramid of boxes caught her attention. She looked up to see an ethereal light blue glow, surrounding some sort of small form. It floated into the light a little more, curious of them, and she saw that it had a small orange head with a spike on top. Wide blue eyes watched them from on top of its perch, and two pointy arms stuck out to the side.

“Oh wow, a Rotom. You're pretty lucky, Joe. This is probably the last Pokémon we have time for before we have to go back. Want to battle it?”

The Pokemon stood there with it's small eye fixed on their position. The gears either side of it created a grinding noise as the rotated round the larger gear. Then a vivid image cropped into Joe's mind. He imaged Klinklang aboard a pirate ship, ordering fellow Klink's to do work and man the sails. Joe started to wonder why his imagination thought that up.

As Joe was wondering, Ivy took a small step forward to see how the Klinklang would react. Simply he stood to one side, like an sentinel, and watched as she walked past into the next room. Joe snapped out of his day dream and followed Ivy's footstep, slowly walking past the large gear Pokemon. Joe wished that most of the other Pokemon around here would be as polite as Klinklang, especially those Mareep. Creeping up on me

The next room they walked into was full of cardboard boxes, some stacked up against the wall, some stacked in the middle of the room. The decided to venture through the odd boxes. It was weird that when they abandoned this place, they didn't take all these boxes. Maybe they were in a rush and didn't have the time to take all the boxes with them. Joe looked around the room idly, staring at the battered ceiling and the tiles on the floor that had been taken up.

“Hey, Joe, come look at this." Ivy signaled to him. Joe walked towards Ivy and noticed some old appliances in the box. "This is an old coffeemaker and a microwave, what are they doing here?" Joe questioned. He looked at the next box along and noticed a oscillating fan and the next one along held a large portable fridge. Something is not right

“Well that's weird,” Ivy said, “A lot of these things look new, and all of the equipment was supposed to be taken out of here a long time ago. Look at the boxes.” She pointed at the bottom of one. “They're not even that worn or damp. You saw how rain leaks into this place. Those things should be moldy and torn by now.”

Joe nodded, Ivy had always been good at noticing when something wasn't right. Like at the office, sometimes we would play pranks on her, however for some reason she always knew it was a prank. Joe said when she started that this women is a smart one and will go far. From that day on he has been smug about what he said.

Then a mischievous giggle came from the top of the pile of boxes. Joe immediately turned his attention to it and braced himself for any rouge Pokemon. Then a light blue glow appeared from the top of the boxes, which seemed to surround a small figure. It floated higher into the air, Joe could see it more clearly now. It had a orange body in the shape of what looked like a large drawing pin. It had two arms that resembled the shape of a lighting forks. However the main feature that stood out was it's large blue eyes. They reminded Joe of a Purlion's eyes, large and beady.

“Oh wow, a Rotom. You're pretty lucky, Joe. This is probably the last Pokémon we have time for before we have to go back. Want to battle it?” Ivy said, looking towards Joe. However his facial expression was cold and no movement. Joe froze still. It was a blast from the past.

Unfortunately for Joe, this wasn't the first time he had encounter a Rotom.

When I was 10, we lived in a small city on the west bank of Mt. Coronet. The city was called Eterna City, home of many lost relics and information about ancient Sinnoh History. In the middle of town lay statues of Dialga, the Temporal Pokémon, and Palkia, the Spatial Pokémon, both are supposedly the rulers of time and space. Eterna City was a popular hotspot for many tourists and hikers, as it was within touching distance of Mt. Coronet. My family moved to Eterna City because my father had been offered a job by the local museum, to become an apprentice and learn about the ancient Pokemon of Sinnoh and other regions. I didn’t like moving. You lost every friend you made, you are new to the local surroundings and you don’t know what the locals will be like. However after spending a couple of weeks in Eterna City, I changed my mind. It was perfect.

Today was the most busiest and important day, the first day of school. When you are new to a place, starting a new school can be seem quiet daunting. Who do you sit next to? Do you talk a lot or do you keep quiet. All these questions were rushing through my head. I stood outside my classroom; my hands were shaking from side to side as if my hand was being hit by a small earthquake. The bell rang throughout the hall and I slowly opened the door into the classroom. All the heads swiveled around and the beady eyes fixed onto me like a Magnemite using Lock-On.

“Ahh, you must be Joe Willams, I am Mr. Thompson” announced the teacher. He wore a long red scarf which hung from his shoulders. His trousers were up by his belly button and his light pink socks were visible. He wore a long tie with small pictures of ducks patterned across it. He pointed to an empty desk at the back of the classroom, which was situated next to the window, looking out towards a large building with a Pokeball imprinted above the doorway. I sat down adjusted my chair to the right position and tried to focus on my slightly queer teacher.

The last bell rang through the pupils ears and down the hallway, indicating school is over. I packed up books and my pencil case and headed towards the door. However as I was about to leave the room, three boys quickly blocked the exit. One was small and plump, like an orange, with spiky brown hair. Another boy stood upright and looked down on me like a giraffe, and the one in the middle look liked the ring leader by the way he ordered them around. He was about medium height and had blonde-ginger like hair. He wore a leather jacket and filthy jeans that looked and smelt like someone had rubbed faeces down his trousers.

“So we have a new guy, well you know what all new guys do right?” asked the leader, who looked very intimidating.

I tried to answer back but I had never witnessed bullies before so I kept my mouth shut and see what would happen. The leader chuckled and replied, “Ahh, we have a quiet one here, I think I know the perfect initiation test for you,” A ripple of laughter erupted from the room by the two boys standing next to him.

I opened my mouth and said, “I am not afraid of you, I bet I can do this initiation in a blink of an eye”

When I look back on this point, I start to wonder what might had happened if I didn’t keep my big mouth shut. Maybe my initiation wouldn’t have been that difficult.

“Oh yeah, well your test is to go into the abandoned mansion, located in the Eterna forest, and find the Pokemon Rotom. That is all you have to do. If you do it, you will not be bullied however, if you fail, expect a lot of bullying,” the leader proclaimed and left the room with his followers. I stood there and smirked, how hard could this be.

He regained his concentration and looked at the floating plasma Pokemon. He reached into his rucksack and fumbled through his possessions.

First of all he grabbed his PokeDex and scanned the Pokemon, even thou he already knew what it was, but sometimes the PokeDex can offer even more information.

Rotom, the Plasma Pokémon. Rotom plays practical jokes which it carries out by embedding.....

The PokeDex slowly died and the screen turned black. Joe shook the Dex up and down however he had no luck. It had properly run out of battery

He placed the dead Pokedex in his bag and removed a small blank disk with a small piece of paper attached to it. It read:

Instructions for recording wild Pokemon's Voices

    1. Place the blank disk into a Pokeplayer

    2. On the Pokeplayer, press the large button with the small red circle imprinted on it.

    3. Hold the Pokeplayer in front of the and wait for the Pokemon to cry

Wait for the Pokemon to cry? What is this piece of crap

Joe placed the blank disk in the Pokeplayer and pressed the large button that had a small red circle imprinted on it. The disk started to spin around inside the player, and Joe waited for the Rotom to cry.

"Well I better try and battle it now, hopefully it will cry during the battle and the player might pick it up. But you know what Park made items are like, cheap but break very easily," Joe said out loud and started to shuffle through his belt. He had to pick a Pokemon that could counter Rotom. Rotom was a Electric and Ghost Pokemon, however it has an ability called Levitate, which makes ground attacks fail.

Dark moves are effective against Ghost Pokemon, however I can't remember a key fact about Rotom. Something like they can change....

Joe reached into his bag and removed a small potion with the words 'Hyper Potion' branded on the front. He grabbed a Pokeball and threw it on the ground. A large crocodile Pokemon appear and stood upright, stretching his arms like he had just been woken up.

"Krookodile, your up next, however before you battle I want you to heal up, this Rotom looks mischievous," Joe said to Krookodile, who seemed to agree with what he said. Joe sprayed the liquid over Krookdodile's battle wounds, and watched as they started to heal up.

Joe turned around and focused his attention on Rotom. He looked around at his surroundings, there wasn't much but old appliances. There was nothing in the room that could aid Krookodile. Krookodile slowly walked to his position and stared at the floating plasma Pokemon. Their eyes met and already in thirty seconds, Krookodile had a new rival.

"Alright Krookodile, I want you to use Hone Claws and then use Dragon Claw, you can do this," Joe ordered his Krookodile.

He watched as Krookodile slowly glowed in a black aura, ready to enhance his attacking powers. Joe knew that a Pokemon like Krookodile would be great against Rotom, since it was immune to most of the arsenal Rotom possessed. However one part in Joe's memory was blank and muffled up. If only he remember more about Rotom.

He bent down and grabbed the PokePlayer, holding it close to Rotom to try and record the cry given out by the Pokemon. He glanced up and looked through the gaps in the ceiling. The sky was still dark, and looked like it was about to rain again. Hopefully this room doesn't have as much holes in as the last one.

Joe seemed lost in thought for a moment, looking like he was remembering something from some time ago. He snapped out of it eventually though, and then he started rummaging around in his bag for something.

He pulled out his Poképlayer and another disk, but she couldn't see any inscription on it, so she figured it must be a blank one. Some Trainers tried to record voices of some of the Rarer Pokémon they encountered in the hopes that they could find that one again or give it to someone else to use. It was risky though, since sometimes the disks weren't loud or close enough to attract the sought Pokémon. Disks also wore out pretty quickly, making them unusable. They probably should have research and development looking into extending the life on them.

When Joe had put the disk in the player and pressed the record button, he looked back up at the Rotom. “Well, I better try and battle it now. Hopefully it will cry during the battle and the player might pick it up. But you know what Park made items are like.”

She laughed a little bit. She knew too well. Hopefully some time the disk would pick up the right call. The disk could always be edited later to cut out all the unnecessary stuff.

Joe reached down to his belt, picking his Pokémon carefully. In the end he choose to release Krookodile, and the sand croc looked pleased to be battling again. Before he started, he also took out a Max Potion to heal up his partner. That was a good idea since he had been hurt before and Rotom were a little known for their tricks.

Once he was all set, Joe planned their first move. “Alright, Krookodile, I want you to use Hone Claws and then use Dragon Claw. You can do this.”

The Krookodile focused as a murky glow came to his claws. He raked them against the floor, and they came away brighter, sharper looking than they had before. Even with the lack of good light, she could see the way they glinted. Then the crocodile lunged up to attack with the power of a dragon. She thought they looked kinda similar anyway.

Rotom watched, and it had been charging while waiting. With a little shake, it darted toward Krookodile. Tiny stars, like ninja shuriken came spewing out of it, twisting and twirling in a rapid pattern as more continued to shoot. They struck the crocodile, but he kept going, and since Rotom had been getting closer, he reached it easily. With a powerful swipe, he sent Rotom spinning.

It shook itself off with a huff, and then grinned. Suddenly it did a flip and zipped backwards, becoming transparent seconds before disappearing into a box. They all waited in silence for a moment, and then the box started rocking back and forth.

Suddenly, the top burst open and a tiny shower of those popcorn packing pieces came flowing out, along with another form. Ivy was amazed as Rotom now looked like an upright push lawnmower. It's face composed the base, complete with a large, cheeky grin full of what looked like sharp teeth. It hovered with a green aura around it instead of its light blue one.

Ivy thought she heard that Rotom could change their form along with their type. If that was true, Rotom was now a Grass-type, and that didn't spell anything good for Krookodile. “Careful, Joe,” she called. “That Rotom's a Grass-type now.”

It made tiny vroom-vroom noises, like it was revving up its inner engine for some cutting, as if to emphasize her point.

Joe focused his attention to the battle. He watched Krookodile take up an aggressive stance and stared right towards the mischievous plasma Pokemon. Then Krookodile, given the order by Joe, suddenly focused some power into his claws and watched a dark evil black aura surrounded his claws. Then in swift movements he racked his claws through the concrete floor. A high pitched screeching sound echoed through the room. Joe was intensely as the claws began to grow bigger and sharper, increase his accuracy of the attacks. Krookodile held out his claws and examined them, making sure they were perfect for the job ahead.

Krookodile, now with his perfectly sharpened claws, took off into the air. The rare light that entered the room reflected off the claws, shimmering down on the dull filthy room. Joe turned his eyes to Rotom and noticed that it was storing some power and then preparing to unleash it. Krookodile and watched as his large claws suddenly changed colour. A mystic blue and orange aura surrounded the claws, similar to the one before. It was like the power of a dragon was enclosed in Krookodile's claws. Krookodile flew directly towards the Rotom, eager to make the first move. However Rotom had plans of its own and unleashed the stored power. Small stars, similar to ninja shurikens, were sent flying towards Krookodile. Joe quickly recognized the move as Swift, a move that will never miss. The stars crashed into the main chest area of Krookodile, however he still carried on. His claw still raised, Krookodile swiped down on the Fusion Pokemon and sent it flying through the air. Krookodile landed on the floor and watched as the Rotom crashed into a pile of boxes beside him.

Joe had a gut instinct to see how the Rotom was since Krookodile's attack can be very powerful, however as Joe was thinking; the box where Rotom fell into started to move about. Krookodile braced itself for what ever was to come out of that box. Then in a blink of an eye, the box erupted open and a large upright push lawnmower stood before them. Joe stared at the features of the Pokemon before him. The dark green aura that outlined the Pokemon and the large scary grin that was labeled across the lawnmower body. Then by sheer luck, a memory blasted through Joe's brain. He had seen that grin from somewhere.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a Friday, the sky was dull and the dark clouds had taken residency over the city of Eterna. The bell rung out through the school and an eruption of rejoice and laughter dispersed from each classroom. I thanked my seemingly queer teacher and exited the classroom. I popped my head round the corner, making sure the coast was clear. It was. I ran towards my locker and quickly fiddled around with the lock. I opened the metal frame door and removed my bag with most of my books in. As I shut the door, three boys stood beside me.

“You have till tonight to complete the initiation, you hear me,” shouted the medium length boy, who seemed like he was the leader. I mumbled an answer, along the lines of “Sure, tonight,” They smirked and slowly walked down the hallway, pushing around anyone who got in their way.

“This shouldn’t be hard,” I said to myself and started to hum a tune, which we had been taught in Music today, while walking down the hallway.

    4 Hours Later,

I stood outside a small old wooden gate, which lead towards a large mysterious mansion. Locals used to call it the Old Château, as it once used to be a home for visitors of Eterna City. However since the economical decline, places like the Old Château lost customers which lead to shutting down the business. However some people still come back here, because it is lead to believe that a rare Pokemon called Rotom has occupied the building. Explorers from all over the region come to this place in order to find it, hoping that they might be able to catch it and become famous. Still now, no one has ever had visual contact with Rotom.

I started to wonder what is the point of being here. If specialists have not found Rotom, then certainly a 10 year old boy won’t. I turned around and was about to leave through the old wooden gate, when it suddenly slammed shut. The wind was dead, almost like all the other foliage around the area. I turned around on the spot and watched as the large oak doors of the old mansion slowly opened. A loud creaking sound echoed through the quiet forest. I paused and thought about my options. I could leave and be bullied by the three boys every day, or I could venture in and try and find Rotom.

The doors slammed shut, just like the wooden gate. I scanned the room in front of me; it was very different to the other buildings in Eterna City. The long draped down curtains added personality and colour into the room. The cobwebs in the corner slowly built up to form cotton material. However what was interesting was the large burning fireplace, situated on the left wall. It was awfully strange that it was lit and burning, maybe the ghosts that inhabit this place feel cold in the winter. I moved into the next room and noticed a large kitchen, deemed worthy to be in a five star restaurant. There were rows and rows of benches where supposedly the chefs would prepare their meals. There was something however that caught my attention, and that was the large dungeon stile door in the corner of the room. I walked over to it and slowly opened it. I braced myself for any bats to come flying out, however there was none. I peered through the door and noticed a lamp that was lit at the bottom of the stair well. It seemed that someone was down their or had just left.

I slowly walked down the stairs, making sure I didn’t fall down. I reached the bottom and noticed a large upright push lawnmower. It was glowing in a green aura, barely lighting up the room. I couldn’t see the front and I walked anticlockwise around the lawnmower. When I reached the face of the lawnmower, I was immediately shocked by the large white grin. Had this been a practical joke? I turned around and headed back up the stairs when the lawnmower started to move. It giggled, and started to follow me towards the stairs. Was it a ghost? I decided to run, I hate ghosts.
I slammed the door shut and slid down towards the floor with my back to it. I sighed and started to wonder what that thing was. It wasn’t like any ghost Pokemon he had seen on TV. Then something in the corner of the room started to grab my attention, a light blue light flickering away. I got up and walked towards it, wondering what it was. I turned the corner and stood still. It was the same glow as before, but just a different colour, the same eyes and smile. How? Then the fridge that was before moved towards me, like it was living. I turned my body around and sprinted towards the nearest door. The fridge was catching me up, I had to think of something quick or I would be ghost food. A small door opened in the distance, leading into a large library. I took a gamble and leaped through the room, closing the door immediately as I entered.

“What was that Pokemon?” I said to myself. I turned around and scanned the room, looking at the large crystal chandelier that was hanging above the bookcases. I walked towards a table and sat down, having a breather, when I noticed a small tattered book lying on the table. I opened it up and studied the first few words on the front page.

    Diary of Charon

I flicked a couple of pages and then stopped on a certain page. It had a large picture of the Pokemon I encountered in the basement. I read the passage beside it.

"Our encounter was a sudden one. It was when I found my toy robot, one that I had earlier misplaced. At that instant, a Pokémon startlingly emerged from the lawn mower's motor! Clutching my robot, I stared, transfixed by the peculiar Pokémon.

The Pokémon hovered in the air, held aloft by a power unseen. As if curious and unafraid of my presence, it floated toward me. Crackling sounds accompanied it, as if from static electricity in the air. Remarkably, it seemed the Pokémon was the source of this power! In alarm, I flinched, certain that my face would be subjected to a shock. Much to my surprise, the Pokémon seemed to favor me with a smile.

Finally, I came to realize that the Pokémon only wished to be friends. I have decided to name this most wondrous Pokémon 'Rotom.' Simple though it may be, Rotom emerged to me from the motor of a lawn mower. Motor and Rotom... Surely the link is obvious?

I sat there shocked, my jaw down by my chin. I had just encountered Rotom. I continued to read, I was eager.

After some heavy analysis, I have concluded that Rotom, can posses certain appliances. Also during my studies, I have also found out that when Rotom posses an appliance, it changes it's type and also learns a new move dependent on the appliance. Here is a list of the certain appliances, the type it transforms into and also the move it learns.

    • When it does not possess an appliance, it is Electric/Ghost and learns Thundershock

    • When it possess an Fridge, it is Electric/Ice and learns Blizzard

    • When it possess an Oven, it is Electric/Fire and learns Overheat

    • When it possess an Fan, it is Electric/Flying and learns Air Slash

    • When it possess an Washing Machine, it is Electric/Water and learns Hydro Pump

    • When it possess an Lawn Mower, it is Electric/Grass and learns Leaf Storm

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joe woke up from his trance and looked towards the possessed Lawn mower. He shouted towards his Krookodile, "Watch out Krookodile, it has changed type now, it is now a Grass Pokemon. I want you to use Incinerate. If it tries to use a move called Leaf Storm, I want you to dodge it, you hear me?"

Krookodile nodded but had a small problem and that was it had never seen the move leaf storm before. Joe turned his attention away from the battle and turned to Ivy. "Ivy, I want you to overlook the battle, and give Krookodile some support. I am sure he will listen to you, I hear one of your relatives is the Driftveil Gym leader."

He didn't give Ivy a chance to question his actions and sped off towards the large boxes where the bits of equipment were. He had to get rid of Krookodile's weaknesses. They were Grass, Ice and Water. He was looking for a washing machine and a fridge to destroy. He scanned the pile of boxes, looking for any thin large ones. Then in the corner of his eye, he noticed a large box with large big writing reading, "Fragile, Fridge" The only problem was that it was on top of most of the boxes.

Joe rolled up his sleeves and scaled the boxes. One step at a time, taking his time so he didn't fall. He climbed on boxes that had television's in, rats nests and many other crazy items that could be placed into a box. He reached the box that the fridge was in and started the rip the box apart. Soon it was just Joe and a fridge on top of many boxes. He tried to beat the fridge however it wasn't doing much. He looked down at the floor and realized how high he was. Then a idea popped into his head. He grabbed one of the bottom sides of the fridge and lifted it into the air. It was balancing on the side which was implanted in boxes beneath it. Joe pushed it and then watched as it fell towards the floor. The fridge was destroyed at the bottom, parts of it were scattered across the debris.

He looked out towards the battle, whilst on top of the heap of boxes. He thought to himself, "This should be a great vantage point to see where the washing machine would be"

Joe turned around on the spot, looking for the washing machine. He took one small step forward and then suddenly he lost grip and started to fall. It was like an avalanche, the boxes acting as the snow, and Joe acting as the unlucky hiker. Then Joe's body crashed onto the floor, being followed by the boxes and their possessions. Joe's vision went blank.

Joe looked lost in thought for a bit, though when he came to, he seemed to know exactly what he wanted to do. “Watch out, Krookodile,” he said. “It has changed type now. It is now a Grass Pokémon. I want you to use Incinerate. If it tries to use a move called Leaf Storm, I want you to dodge it, you hear me?”

The crocodile nodded his head. Ivy knew it was easy enough to say dodge or avoid, but it was quite another to actually do it. The Ground-type looked eager to please, but he also had a slight lost look. She wondered if it had battled Grass-types before.

Then he said, “Ivy, I want you to overlook the battle and give Krookodile some support. I am sure he will listen to you. I hear one of your relatives is the Driftveil Gym Leader.”

She had relatives? She supposed there could be some distant cousin or something she didn't know much about. Other than her brother, she didn't know the relations very far. That was something to look into. She wondered why he brought it up when she saw him dash away toward a stack of boxes, seeming to look for a specific one.

There wasn't a lot of time to ask after him though, because Rotom was charging up. It shook slightly and then started forming a multi-colored beam. It was blue, pink, and purple, and from the shades, she recognized it as a Signal Beam. The colors formed in blocks, and then they combined into a stream that came shooting at Krookodile.

The sand croc did his best to dodge, but the beam came too fast, and Krookodile was knocked backward as the attack hit him square in the chest. It wasn't the Leaf Storm he was anticipating. Still, he got up and snorted, and Ivy tried to soothe him. “It's alright, Krookodile. You're doing fine.”

She looked over to see Joe on the top of one of the stacks, trying to push something off. He tipped it from the side, and the box contents came crashing to the floor. She saw a piece of a door from a fridge topple out, and then she figured out what he was doing. He must be trying to eliminate Rotom's ability to change forms by destroying the things it could animate. That was probably a good idea, though for all they knew, there were multiple fridges and lawnmowers and whatever else in the hundred of boxes.

She took a breath and decided that this equipment was not Ranger stuff, so she didn't care what Joe was doing to it. Anything the Rangers had would've been moved out by now. She had a sneaking suspicion it was a group of Poacher's things. Rotom was a rare and powerful Pokémon. Of course they would be trying to trap it. If she remembered correctly, Buzz had problems with Poachers here before.

Joe seemed to be looking for something else, using the top box to scan the whole room. Then, she called out as his grip slipped and the boxes started to topple. He came crashing to the floor, and then the boxes followed him, burying him underneath the rubble.

“Joe!” she called, but there was no response. She saw Krookodile cry out and move to go to him, but she stopped him. “No, stop!” Thankfully he did, looking at her with a mixed expression. “I'll check on Joe, you keep battling. That Rotom isn't going to wait.” She could see him understanding her logic. It was her job to keep the Trainer safe. She wished she would've known what he was doing before he dashed off. “Go ahead with your Incinerate. He'll be okay, I promise.”

The crocodile nodded and turned back to the Rotom as she ran off to the downed stack. Haji followed. She hoped she wasn't going to make a liar out of herself.

Rushing over, she reached into her pocket to pull out another ball. In a flash, her own Ambipom was released, and he immediately seemed to know something was wrong.

“Ambipom, Joe's trapped under these boxes. We need to move stuff carefully so we don't crush him, and keep calling out for him to see if he answers.” She looked up at the mountain of boxes. It might take a while. “Haji, you help him. We have to keep an eye on Rotom too.”

As she said it, Krookodile began his attack. He gathered energy to him, and then fire appeared in his jaws. With a powerful burst, he sent a raging fireball at Rotom. She didn't know what the Electric-type was doing, but it got blasted, knocking the thing back into another box. It bounced off roughly, and when it finally straightened itself off, it shook.

With a screech, it dove back into another box. They waited for a second, and then a large orange washing machine popped out of a box with that same grin. Looked like it had changed forms again.

“Be careful, Krookodile!” she called. “It's a Water-type now!” Then she turned back to her Pokémon who where both moving boxes out of the way carefully. “We have to hurry.” Then she picked up a box and started moving, calling out to see if the Trainer would answer.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I sat smug in my desk, watching the people outside rushing up and down the road. The events of last night imprinted in my mind, I would never forget it. Laying my eyes on the possessed lawn mower and then it chasing after me. Then also being chased by a moving fridge, how cool is that. I was the first person, out of all the professional explorers to encounter Rotom.

I looked out across the classroom at some of the empty desk, especially the desks of the bullies. I smirked, like I was hiding a huge event that was about to happen. Then the door burst open and three figures entered the classroom. Their eyes fixed onto mine and diverted their course of direction towards me.

    Bring it

They surrounded me like a pack of lions ready to attack a jackal. They were waiting for this day, the day they could beat me up and humiliate me.

"So, did you see Rotom?" the Leader asked me. I looked away and smiled. Then I causally replied, "I saw Rotom,"

The class, who were overhearing the conversation, broke into a loud gasp. However the three boys burst into laughter. "I don't believe you, do you have any proof?" the Leader said, as he reverted his laugh into a long stare.

I smiled and raised my fingers to mouth and inserted them. I loudly blew on between my fingers and it produced a high pitch tone, usually called a whistle. Then the portable fan in the corner of the room changed colour. A feint yellow glow engulfed the fan and two small white eyes appeared at the base of the fan. It giggled and quickly flew through the air. All the children in room froze in shock. I smiled and stood up to greet the Rotom. It hovered next to me and both our eyes met.

The leader of the bullies opened his mouth and said, "Is th....at ro..t..om?"

I smiled and replied, "Yes this is one of Rotom's many forms, I found it alone in the basement of the abandoned manor. It was lonely and wanted a friend. At first it frightened me, but after reading a book by Charon, the first person to ever encounter it, mentioned that Rotom was lonely because every person that tried to encounter it, just ran away scared."

All the kids slowly realized what I said and started to walk towards me and Rotom. Playing with it and watching it transform into many other items. However soon my father had been given a promotion and offered another job at Sunnyshore City. This mean't I had to leave Rotom.

It was my last day and I walked towards the old manor, practicing saying my farewell speech to Rotom. I opened the gate and stared at the lonely lawn mower, waiting for me to play. Then its eyes fixed onto me, and in a quick movement directed its way towards me. It rammed up be the side of my leg stared into my eyes. I took a step back and bent down on one knee, so I neither of use were looking up or down on each other.

"Hey Rotom, this will be the last time I will see you. My father has been offered a job elsewhere and we are moving," Then a small drop of water dripped down from Rotom's eye. I tried to keep my emotions in, and I carried on talking. "I will miss you and don't forget about me. If you want to play, I am sure the children in the school will play," Another small drop crashed into the ground; however this time it wasn't Rotom's. Both Pokemon and Human were crying. I wiped his eyes and said, "Goodbye Rotom, it was awfully nice meeting you."

I walked away into the sunlight that was escaping through the clutches of the nearby trees. Rotom stayed there in the front garden watching me walk back to the city. I turned around and slowly wheeled itself into the house. It was alone.

Then the flashback slowly transformed into a bright white light. I was coming around.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joe slowly opened my eyes, reveling a pile of boxes scrunched against my face and also a small gap that the light was entering from. Then, like magic, on of the boxes lying on top of me slowly lifted itself. Joe couldn't see much but he managed to faintly pick out a large pink hand that had three red stump like fingers. It looked awfully familiar. The magic hand slowly removed more boxes and then Joe heard another familiar voice.

“Joe, Joe, Are you OK?” called out the familiar voice. His hearing wasn’t fully back to function but he managed to translate the core message. He slowly raised his hand and formed a thumbs up sign. Once the boxes had been removed, Joe recognized the Pokemon as Ambipom, the Long Tail Pokémon. Then behind the Ambipom, Joe noticed Ivy, his ranger. He tried to stand up, however as soon as he used his arms, a sharp pain ran through Joe’s body. He examined his arm and noticed a large cut with some dried up blood surrounding it. He asked Ivy for a hand and immediately she helped him onto his feet.

Then Joe suddenly had a dejavu. He remembered what he was doing before he fell. He was destroying all the appliances that Rotom could disappear into. He tired to rush towards a mountain of boxes when the pain in his arm started to hurt again. He grabbed his arm and tried to stop the pain from escaping. He let go and started to pant, the fall had drained all the energy.

He turned to Ivy and asked, "Where is Krookodile?"

She turned around and pointed in the direction of the battle. Joe ran as quick as his arm would let him and headed towards Krookodile. He slowly climbed some boxes and noticed Krookodile holding back a wound. He looked a lot different than before, he must of taken a powerful hit. When he looked at the Rotom, he noticed that it transformed again. The small smile and the large blue compartment in the middle of the Pokemon. It's left arm looked interesting as it took the shape of what looked like a spanner.

Great it changed into a Water Pokemon, which just happens to be effective against Krookodile. I need to scare it back into it's original form, but how?

Krookodile, who all this time had no idea that Joe was standing behind him, turned around and ran towards his trainer. He hugged Joe and stared at the large cut on his arm. Joe tried to hid it and just said, "It's nothing,"

Krookodile turned around and looked a lot better, now that it was with Joe. It gave out loud cry and prepared himself for the task ahead.

"Alright Krookodile, use Dragon Claw and then brace yourself ok?" Joe commanded to his Crocodile Pokemon. Krookodile nodded and started to prepare his sharpened claws for the task ahead.

Joe turned around and grabbed two Pokeball's from his belt. He grabbed the small red and white Pokeball's and threw them on the ground. A white flash appeared and then two monkey's appear. One was on fire and the other was exactly the same as the monkey who saved Joe.

"Alright I need you two to help me, I want you to go around and destroy and looking Washing Machine, Fridge or Lawn Mower. Ambipom you know what they look like because you spend half the time at home in my Kitchen. I need you to do this because it may aid Krookodile in our battle," Joe said to the two Ape Pokemon.

Joe watched as both Pokemon set out in the same way Joe did before. They sprinted past Ivy and her Espeon and Ambipom and headed towards a large pile of boxes. They started to search through each box, looking for those appliances. Sometimes Infernape would signal to Ambipom a piece of equipment and Ambipom would simply shake his head indicating it's the wrong one. However when they did find one, they worked together, whether it was Infernape burning holes in the metal that held it together or Ambipom pushing it off a large mountain of boxes. They worked well together.

Joe smiled and returned to the battle and focused his eyes on the Rotom ahead of him. He had a cousin called Alex Thompson, who was the leader of Pastoria Gym. He was interested in the Pokemon Rotom and said that it could be a vital asset to his water gym. Joe removed his camera and took a picture of the Rotom. He wasn't going to sell it to the buyers at the National Park, he was going to show it his cousin and brag about it. Hopefully he will be able to catch it as well.

They dug through the boxes, carefully taking the ones off the top and moving them onto the ground so they could find Joe. They worked for what seemed like forever when Ambipom finally called out that he found him. “Joe, are you okay?” she called, hoping he was at least partially conscious.

In response, she saw a pale hand come out of the rubble with a thumbs up. She breathed a sigh of relief. If a Trainer got seriously hurt on a run, not only would she feel bad, but she'd probably get fired too. They made quick work of the rest of the rubble, and she offered Joe a hand to help him up.

He was a little unsteady on his feet, and he seemed to be cradling one of his arms. She spied a long gash on it and winced a little. At least it wasn't bleeding all over. He wasn't too worried about it though, instead asking where his Krookodile was. She pointed in the general direction, and before she could say anything, he dashed over there. Krookodile saw him and immediately ran to give him a hug, and she was glad to see a warm moment between them.

Then he gave instruction. The Rotom was still there, but it was strangely watching them, like it didn't know what to think of the scene. She had heard once that some Rotom got lonely because a lot of people got freaked out by their tricks. She wondered if this one felt the same.

“Alright, Krookodile,” Joe said, “use Dragon Claw and then brace yourself, okay?” The sand crocodile nodded and prepared, flexing his claws and sharpening them against each other absently as he waited for the proper time to strike. They began to glow as the power of the dragon filled them.

Then Joe released two of his other Pokémon, the monkeys. Ambipom and Infernape appeared in a flash. He instructed them to do what he was doing before. Since they were more agile and not as focused on the battle, they would have an easier time of it. They seemed to know what they were looking for, and they set off to dig through the boxes. She could hear things falling to the floor as she watched the battle.

“Hey, Joe,” she called. “I've got some first aid here if you need it.” She pulled out a roll of gauze and a packet of antiseptic ointment from one of her pockets. It was always good to be prepared. “You can wait until the battle is over or do it now if you like. I'll let you decide.”

Then, Krookodile sprung into action. His claws glowed as he prepared to strike. Ivy saw Rotom watch carefully though, and from the look, she could tell it wasn't very surprised as it had seen this attack before. As the sand croc reached up to swipe, it jerked back a little. It still let the croc hit it though, and the impact pushed it back farther.

Then, it readied its hose. Ivy knew Rotom learned Hydro Pump in wash form, and that water move would be very bad for Krookodile. She was about to call out and warn them when the Rotom suddenly jerked his hose upward toward the ceiling and let loose a torrent of water.

The blast bounced against the ceiling and showered down on Krookodile like a heavy rain. The crocodile was confused, even though he was bothered by the water. Then Ivy saw the spark coming from Rotom.

“Look out!” she called. “That water's a conductor for electricity!”

It was too late though. With a zoom, the Rotom charged off, its body filled with an electric spark. It smashed into Krookodile and used the creature's stomach to pivot and shoot backwards, disappearing into another box. Krookodile fell back, rolling along the floor as the electricity hit him. She could see it cackling over his hide. Ouch.

Joe would have to come up with a plan to beat this Rotom. Destroying some of the appliances should help, but now they had no idea where it was. The only noises were coming from the working monkeys over on the other side of the room and Krookodile's moans from the attack.

“Hey, Joe,” she called. “I've got some first aid here if you need it.” She pulled out a roll of gauze and a packet of antiseptic ointment from one of her pockets. “You can wait until the battle is over or do it now if you like. I'll let you decide.”

"Thanks Ivy, I have a feeling this battle will be over soon, so I will treat it later," Joe said, holding onto his wound patch. He turned around and studied the battle. Krookodile was badly hurt after an attack that Joe never saw, and then when he came back it transformed into Wash Rotom. That meant bad news. The battle was nearly over, he sensed it, however he need a boost to help him.

Before Joe could think any longer, Krookodile sprung into action and raised his finely cut claws. Like before they changed colour into a blue and orange, the colours that are mostly resembled to Dragons. However something seemed very odd about Rotom, it was watching Krookodile, and wasn't surprised at all. As Krookodile was about to strike, Rotom quickly jerked back a few paces. Krookodile outstretched his hand and hit Rotom, but it wasn't as powerful as he thought.

Rotom quickly bounced back from the attack and wielded it's hose. Suddenly a memory zipped through Joe's mind and before he could shout out, a large blast of water erupted from the hose. The blast of water bounced off the ceiling and created heavy droplets that soaked Krookodile. Both Krookodile and Joe were in complete surprise by that attack, and were wondering why Rotom didn't attack Krookodile. Then in a blink of an eye, Rotom suddenly produced a spark.

“Look out!” Ivy called. “That water's a conductor for electricity!”

Joe eyes winded, and he couldn't move his mouth. He was in shock that he let this happen to Krookodile. He tried to call out to Krookodile what was happening, however no sound came out. With a zoom, Rotom charged to Krookodile, with a spark surrounding It its whole body. It crashed into the stomach of Krookodile and used it as a pivot. Rotom was send flying back into some boxes in the far side of the room. Joe fixed his eyes onto the location where Rotom disappeared to.

Krookodile landed on the floor, he had just taken a powerful attack right to the stomach. Joe slid down the pile of boxes and quickly ran towards Krookodile. He lifted his head above the ground and looked into his eyes. "I need you Krookodile, one more job to do, and then you can have a long rest," Joe whispered into Krookodile's ear. Krookodile nodded and slowly got up.

"Alright, Rotom was last seen in that direction of view. I want you to direct a controlled Earthquake in that direction, hopefully it will disturb Rotom and it will come out. At that point, I am going to swap you out for Roserade and give her some battling time," Joe said to Krookodile.

He turned around and looked at his belt. There was one more Pokemon left. He opened the ball up and released the Pokemon inside. A white flash appeared and then a medium height stood before Joe. She did a curtsy and then looked at Joe. Joe bent down to her level and said to her, "Alright as soon as Krookodile has used Earthquake to get Rotom out, I want you to use a combination of Magical Leaf and Stun Spore. I want you to do it like we practiced,"

Hopefully if Roserade was able to do it properly, she would sprinkle stun spore powder on her leaves and propel them towards the opponent. Both hurting it and also hopefully inflicting a status on it.

Then Joe removed a larger ball with the letter branded 'H', indicating it was a Hyper ball, and also removed another piece of equipment. He held the canister in one hand and read the label on the front to see if he had the right one. Calming Fragrance Plus. Yeah it was the right one. He sprayed the canister over the ball, creating a white surface around the ball. The person at the counter of the Park Shop said that this spray will increase your chances of capturing a Pokemon. Well hopefully it dose.

This may sound complicating, but I believe in every single Pokemon I have. I believe that Krookodile will be able to fish out that Rotom with his controlled Earthquake. I also believe that Roserade will be able to quickly step in for Krookodile and use her combination of Magical Spore Leaf. I also had faith in myself to throw the ball, with the Calming Fragrance Plus sprayed over it, to capture the Rotom. I have faith

OOC: Ok, little bit frantic in those commands but I will simplify it.

Krookodile uses Earthquake to fish out Rotom, not to hurt it.
Roserade uses Magic Spore Lead to attack and hopefully paralyze Rotom.
Joe throws ball with Calming Fragrance Plus sprayed over it.

    ---

Joe immediately ran to his Krookodile, making sure the crocodile was okay. He promised one last move and then he would get to rest. The croc nodded and stood up slowly, wanting to do what his Trainer said.

Joe looked in the direction that Rotom fled, the Electric-type still hiding somewhere among the boxes. He then told his Krookodile, “I want you to direct a controlled Earthquake in that direction. Hopefully it will disturb Rotom and it will come out. At that point, I am going to swap you out for Roserade and give her some battling time.”

The Trainer backed up and opened up another Pokéball from his belt, releasing the flowery Pokémon one more time. She hadn't gotten a lot of screen time when they were battling the Porygon, so hopefully she would get to shine here. Ivy thought this plan was okay since Joe didn't plan on double teaming the Rotom. As long as Krookodile's part ended before Roserade's began, it was fine.

He gave his next set of instructions to the plant with the two rosebushes. He asked her to use a Magical Leaf and Stun Spore combination that they had been working on. Ivy thought that was a good idea, since the leaves would let the spores fly farther and more accurately.

Then he had one more step to his preparations. He took out a Hyper Ball and another bottle of spray. She saw from the label that it read 'Calming Fragrance Plus', something they had in the Park shop to make wild Pokémon easier to capture. He sprayed the stuff all over the ball. She couldn't tell if it was working or not, since it was a scent that only Pokémon could pick up on.

Then, Krookodile went to work. With a powerful stamp, the ground shook. The floor heaved in Rotom's last seen direction, and boxes toppled off their towers as the attack hit them off balance. She watched a medium sized box fall from midrange on a stack, and then there was a burst of fire.

A microwave oven popped out, complete with a pull down drawer and a spike on top of its head. It had that same orange coloring as all the other appliances, and that same energy was surrounding it. This time it was a red haze. Rotom was now a Fire-type.

Joe pulled Krookodile back right after that and sent out Roserade. She immediately went to work on her leaves, shaking them out of her bouquet hands. Small yellow seeds grew out of them next, and the powdery spores floated down to latch onto the leaves. Then she sent them off in a flurry, and dozens of the leaves raced around the fallen boxes to reach their target.

Rotom hadn't been idle though. It had been storing up power, and with a burst of energy, it rained fire. Some of it caught onto the boxes, and the objects in them burst into flame. The rest hit Roserade, and she cried out as her leaves were singed. She collapsed to her knees but wasn't knocked out.

Luckily, Rotom was a bit tired out after the attack, having put so much energy into it. It didn't seem able to dodge, and Ivy watched the leaves strike it. Some flashed in quick, others circled around and waited a few moments before hitting. It amounted to a long stream of attacks, and even though Grass-type moves weren't very effective against Fire Pokémon, it was doing enough. She saw the spores start to stick from the leaves onto Rotom too, and soon she could see it was affecting it. It tried to wave its arms, but the spores were weighing them down.

Then, Joe launched the ball. It sailed through the air and smacked Rotom right in its middle, on the hinged door. It was sucked inside the ball in a beam of red light, and as soon as the ball tried to close, the fire on the boxes faded away to nothing. The ball rocked a little bit, but Rotom didn't fight it too much. It pinged as the device closed, and Ivy breathed a sigh of relief.

“Great work, Joe,” she said, handing him the medical supplies. “You work on that cut of yours while I go collect Rotom.” She did and came back, putting it safe in her pocket. “Well, you've reached the encounter limit with this Rotom. Am I right in thinking you want to take Rotom, Porygon, and Magnemite out with you? Once you're ready to go we'll head back to the Main Outpost and finish up.”

Krookodile started things off by focusing some power in his hands. Soon the ground started to shake from side to side, Joe braced himself. However it looked like it was more focused on a pile of boxes in the corner of the room. Some toppled to the ground, some rolled on the floor. Krookodile was very good at controlling a earthquake, Joe had taught him since he was a small Sandile. Then as a box crashed onto the floor, a burst of fire erupted from the box.

A microwave popped out the box, it had a lid that was facing towards the floor showing its inside. It had the same orange colour to the previous forms of Rotom, however this one had a red glow surrounding it. It was now a fire type.

Krookodile limped back behind Joe and Roserade took his place, eager to get some battle experience. Rotom made the first move and created loads small fireballs that covered the room. It was like it was raining fire. Some hit the spare empty boxes and the rest hit Roserade and sent her crashing into the ground. She slowly got back up and prepared her petal like hands. She fired leaves that had a small golden powder sprinkled on them. The zoomed through the air and smacked into Rotom. It didn't have much affect, grass against fire, but it did enough. The small golden grains slid off the leaves and fell between the cracks of Rotom. It's movements were halted.

Joe thought it was the right time to capture and threw the Pokeball towards Rotom. It sailed through the air and collided onto his lid. Rotom disappeared into the ball and it rolled on the floor. Then moments later a tiny ping echoed through the room.

“Great work, Joe,” Ivy said, handing him the medical supplies. “You work on that cut of yours while I go collect Rotom.” She walked across the room and picked up the Pokeball lying on the floor, “Well, you've reached the encounter limit with this Rotom. Am I right in thinking you want to take Rotom, Porygon, and Magnemite out with you? Once you're ready to go we'll head back to the Main Outpost and finish up.”

"Yes that is right, however I need to do two things," Joe said and he called all his Pokemon over to him. Minuets later, all of Joe's Pokemon stood around him with Joe in the middle. Joe knelt down on one knee and said, "I am very proud of every single Pokemon here, We made it through, you all did brilliant."

Then he turned to the abandoned Pokeplayer with the disk spinning inside. He picked it up and pressed stop. Hopefully when he gets back he can edit the film and focus on the Rotom voice.

He turned to Ivy and said that he was ready to leave the park, with his brand new Pokemon, Rotom, Porygon and Magnemite.

When everything was done, Joe knelt on the ground and told all of his partners what a great job they did. Ivy was glad to see this companionship between them. It was good when a Trainer appreciated their Pokémon.

Then he took his player back out and removed the disk he had been trying to record with. There was likely a lot of material on the disk, so she hoped there was something he could use. Rotom had probably thrown a cry out here or there, but she couldn't remember for sure.

Then Joe said he was ready to leave after his arm was patched up. With a nod, Haji teleported them back to the Main Outpost. He filled out the appropriate finishing paperwork while she healed up his new partners and registered them under his Trainer code. She also found one of the picture guys and collected his money from that.

She waved as he left with his haul, scratching Haji behind the ears. They retreated to her office after. She knew she'd have a ton of paperwork to finish up despite not wanting to do it. She settled in her rolling chair at her desk with a sigh, putting her legs up on the corner of it absently. Haji jumped up onto her lap and curled up, something he'd been in the habit of doing lately.

She looked around her, felt a little bit of tiredness catch up with her and the warmth coming from the purple cat, and decided maybe a nap wasn't such a bad idea.
