    BP-2: Venusaur VS Shellos

    Ranger John Shay

    OOC: Gender?

"Awesome!" Ryan exclaimed, clearly happy to see things turn out the way he had hoped. "Vienna, another Razor Leaf! Then finish this up with a very special Vine Whip!"

I wasn't sure what Ryan meant by 'a very special Vine Whip', nor did Vienna apparently based on her reaction. However, she still went on to use Razor Leaf. Spinning leaves identical to the ones from earlier caught the sleeping Shellos dead on - there was no way Vienna was going to miss a target like that.

Now, Vienna was supposed to use Vine Whip. However, it seemed like her Trainer had wanted more than just an ordinary Vine Whip. The Venusaur looked to her Trainer.

"Okay, so you're going to need to take this." Ryan rummaged through his bag, and took out a Park Ball. He had gotten a good capture opportunity early in the match, and it seemed he was going to capitalize straight away. "You need to take this in your vines, then, as you use Vine Whip, drop the ball. After that you'll need to pick Shellos up and drop it on the ball!"

Vienna nodded. A vine snaked out from underneath the large flower on her back. It picked up the ball with the vine, and then swung the vine into Shellos. The Vine Whip connected with the Pokemon, and then it was sucked up into the Pokeball. Since it was both sleeping and almost fainted at this point, I suspected the capture was all but guaranteed.

It was. The Pokeball dinged, and Ryan had himself a Shellos.

I smiled, adding Shellos' Pokeball to the pocket that contained Gyarados'. Ryan was off to a very nice start in the Park.

"Well done," I told him. "However, just a word of caution - don't expect them all to come this easy. They very rarely do. Perhaps more difficult Pokemon later on may make up for an easy battle such as this."

"Well, let's continue," I said, smiling encouragingly. "By the way, about that idea I had a moment ago... Forget it. I don't think it's going to work out." I sweatdropped a little at the anticlimatic result, but I tried putting on a sheepish grin, and continued along the shoreline.

OOC: Female, please~. Oh, and you never introduced yourself, thus why I refer to you as "my ranger" all the time. xD

I watched carefully as the leaves sliced the poor Shellos, who was still sleeping soundly. However, the more amazing part would have to be the next move. The powerful vines whipped into the water-type, literally throwing it into the ball. It hit the ground, shaking once, twice...

DING! It closed shut. I pumped my fist in the air; this trip was awesome so far!

"Well done," my ranger said, collecting the Pokeball as usual. "However, just a word of caution - don't expect them all to come this easy. They very rarely do. Perhaps more difficult Pokemon later on may make up for an easy battle such as this."

"If you say so..." I replied, still giddy about my two captures. No matter what he said, I probably would have given the same answer anyways.

"Well, let's continue," he said, already walking. "By the way, about that idea I had a moment ago... Forget it. I don't think it's going to work out." he took this as a time to take off, leaving me close behind. I jogged a little bit faster, returning Vienna into her Pokeball as I did so. Catching up to him, I asked a question of my own.

    "What was your plan?"

OOC: Meh just pretend I introduced myself. It'd be awkward if I did it now q_q And also, the 'plan' is still going down despite what I said last post. ;]

Ryan nodded, evidently ecstatic. He followed me as I continued to lead the way along the shoreline.

"What was your plan?" Ryan asked out of curiosity.

"Well, I was thinking you could try going into the water on Gyarados' back. While you haven't been granted official ownership of it by the National Park, you have captured it in battle, and it is your owner. I was thinking you could Surf around on it, but not battle with it. However, I'm not sure if my superiors would allow that, since, as I said, you do not legally own it," I explained.

Suddenly, I felt a loud rumbling. It was coming from the lake. I turned to see what it was - what was going on? The only Pokemon that could cause rumbling this loud lived deep in the lake - what was going on?

    "Lugia!"

The legendary Pokemon surfaced, flying up from below the water majestically. It flew high into the sky, and spread its wings majestically. It was looking straight at us.

"Wow... A Lugia!" I exclaimed, "Aren't you lucky, Ryan. Lugia rarely graces Trainers with its presence. Savor this moment."

Lugia came down to earth, and stood in front of us. It was eyeing Ryan with interest.

I was thinking. When legendary Pokemon came before Trainers, it was usually more than just an ordinary meet-and-greet. If they were going to bother facing a Trainer, then that meant they were intrigued by the Trainer. Not only that, but from experience I knew that legendary Pokemon would be fine accompanying these interesting Trainers. It wasn't a stretch for...

"Lugia," I asked the Pokemon. "Ryan has no means of traversing through the water. Would you allow him to travel around the Great Lakes on your back?"

Lugia nodded. Despite its pride, it clearly had no problem with allowing someone it approved of (in this case, Ryan) travel with it. I smiled at Ryan. He now had access to the deeper parts of the Lakes. The Pokemon there were much more interesting.

"Ready?" I asked. I could Surf through the water on Dragonite.

OOC: Okay. And you don't need to mention me every time, I'm usually creeping around here anyways.

John answered me promptly."Well, I was thinking you could try going into the water on Gyarados' back. While you haven't been granted official ownership of it by the National Park, you have captured it in battle, and it is your owner. I was thinking you could Surf around on it, but not battle with it. However, I'm not sure if my superiors would allow that, since, as I said, you do not legally own it," he explained to me, and at that point it sounded like a pretty damn good idea to me.

"Wow, you would do that for me?" I said, excited to see what awaited me in the deeper lakes. "That would be awe-" I said, cut off by an abrupt rumble. It penetrated the ground, shaking us deeply as the water began to tremble. Something in the center of the lake was evidently causing this, but what kind of Pokemon would have the power to do this?

My question was quickly answered as a huge majestic beast rose from the water, crying its name in a loud roar. It flew high in the sky, revealing its true form not as a water type; it was in fact a winged beast, who looked as if it could have had Psychic powers as well. Quickly grabbing my Pokedex, I gave the thing a brief scan. The Pokedex responded instantly; I was assuming that not many Pokemon had this kind of body shape.

"Lugia, the Diving Pokemon. It slumbers at the bottom of a deep trench. If it flaps its wings, it is said to cause a 40-day storm. " it finished, and I was glad I had brought the thing. It looked like Lugia was a Legendary Psychic and Flying Pokemon. Wow, that was amazing.

"Lugia!" it said, blowing me away. It looked to be a big bird, with large white wings and a blue belly. Strange triangular-shaped eyes were fixed to its large face, similar to the head of a Togetic. "Wow... A Lugia!" John said, obviously amazed as well. "Aren't you lucky, Ryan. Lugia rarely graces Trainers with its presence. Savor this moment."

"If only I had bought one of those cameras.." I said, wishing that this could last forever. The Lugia was standing in front of us on the shoreline, and I was pretty sure it was looking at me. I turned to say something about cameras to John, but he seemed as if he was deep in thought. Suddenly, he began to speak.

"Lugia," he addressed the legendary creature. "Ryan has no means of traversing through the water. Would you allow him to travel around the Great Lakes on your back?" Lugia looked happy to do so, which was perplexing to me. This was a Legendary! How would it feel to have a human, of all things, on its back? However, I wasn't going to ask myself those questions now. Climbing very carefully, I sat on one of the bony ridges on its back. It was actually quite comfortable; minus the water, the beast had rather soft fur.

"Ready?" John asked, boarding his Dragonite. From what I had seen, she would be more than happy to ferry him around, enjoying the water. I closed my eyes, letting Lugia take control. This was the life; now I just hoped that the Pokemon out in the Lakes were even more amazing than I could have imagined.

Ryan climbed on to Lugia's back, shocked to be allowed to do so. I smiled at him. It really was an honour to be allowed to ride on the back of a Pokemon such as Lugia.

Suddenly, something blue leaped out of the water. It lunged at Ryan's face, and missed - barely. It landed on the shore, and turned to face us.

"Feraligatr." The Feraligatr stared at Ryan with an almost maniacal look in its eyes. This Pokemon was clearly a savage one. Saliva was dripping from its maw, and it was bent down, as if ready to pounce at a moment's notice.

"Well, it seems you've encountered another Pokemon before even leaving the shore," I said to Ryan, somewhat amused. While the Feraligatr was very imposing, it knew better than to directly attack a Trainer. Pokemon of the National Park understood that attacking Trainer would result in punishment from the Rangers. It was just an intimidating move to try and lure Ryan into a battle. Therefore, I was not worried for Ryan. I tried to let the calm in my eyes get through to Ryan through eye contact - he shouldn't be scared of the Feraligatr. "Are you interested in trying to capture this Pokemon?"

If Ryan wanted to battle Feraligatr, the battle would likely occur on the shore - that was where Feraligatr stood now, and if Ryan wanted to make the first move, he would have to get to Feraligatr. If he ran, however, he could use Feraligatr's slow movement on land to his advantage by telling Lugia to start swimming deeper into the lake - there was no way Feraligatr would be able to catch up. Of course, it could prevent an escape by attacking Lugia directly, but I figured to sit back and watch the action unfold.

OOC: In case it's not obvious, you can't battle with Lugia. xd

OOC: Sorry for bad post, tired Knight is tired.

I had just gotten settled on Lugia when a large blue mass leaped out of the water. It said its name quietly, as if it feared us humans. I identified it to be a Feraligatr; okay, I listened to its voice. But it's not that big of a deal, is it?

"Well, it seems you've encountered another Pokemon before even leaving the shore," John said, a smug tone in his voice. I thought about it before remembering the last thing I had seen before I left for the Park. I had been browsing through the Pokemart, and I distinctly recalled seeing Totodiles. They were easy to raise, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to battle this thing. It seemed like a fierce opponent, even more so than Gyarados.

"Are you interested in trying to capture this Pokemon?" he inquired.

"I'm not sure, I think I want to keep moving."

"I'm not sure, I think I want to keep moving," Ryan said. I nodded, understanding perfectly. Personally, I liked Feraligatrs and thought of them as strong Pokemon. However, I didn't know if Ryan shared the same mindset, and even if that was the case, it would be a waste of time to bother capturing one when it was possible to just buy a Totodile from the PokeMart.

"Alright, let's try leaving it behind. Dragonite, Lugia, let's go!" I hollered.

Our Pokemon rushed forwards, leaving the Feraligatr on the shore. I looked back, wondering if it would give chase.

It did. Feraligatr leaped into the lake. It was clearly slower than Lugia, however, and unless it attacked Lugia directly, it had no chance of getting to us.

The Feraligatr must have come to the same conclusion I had, for it did indeed attack Lugia. Feraligatr opened its jaw, and launched a stream of water at Lugia's face. The Water Gun didn't do much damage to Lugia - I didn't expect Feraligatr to be able to deal a lot of damage to a Pokemon of Lugia's caliber. However, it was clear that Feraligatr's intent was to distract Lugia, for that was what happened. Lugia slowed down, and Feraligatr pressed on the opportunity to leap out of the water and on to Lugia's back.

"Feraligatr!" it growled loudly, glaring at Ryan.

This was bad. "Ryan, you'll have to battle it!" I yelled to Ryan. They would have to battle on Lugia's back, which would limit their movement heavily. Lugia could also take a lot of damage over the course of the battle. Battling in the lake itself was not an option for Ryan, however - not of his Pokemon were able to maneuver in the water.

Lugia must have realized this too, however. It used its psychic powers to lift Ryan and Feraligatr off its back. Then, it formed a glowing blue screen of psychic energy about fifteen feet in the air and dropped Ryan and Feraligatr on to the plateau. It was a makeshift battlefield, of sorts. Very convenient.

Now, Ryan would have to battle Feraligatr. This Pokemon was hellbent on battling it - nothing short of a Pokedoll would allow Ryan to escape. I did have Pokedolls available for Ryan to purchase, but I was unsure if he wanted to pay the fee.

OOC: Basically, I have infinite Pokedolls. Buy at discretion. If you decide to buy, post $ - $ = $ in OOC and RP out your purchase by telling me you want to buy (I'll "add it to your tab" in the RP). If you need help, let me know, though it's p simple.

"Alright, let's try leaving it behind. Dragonite, Lugia, let's go!" John said, the two flying Pokemon quickly taking off. However, Feraligatr wasn't done just yet. The Feraligatr obviously didn't want to give up. It shot a stream of water right at Lugia's face, slowing the legendary creature for long enough for it to grab onto its tail. The huge water crocodile climbed upon Lugia's body, quickly coming towards me. John said something, but I couldn't hear him.

Lugia obviously didn't want a battle occuring on its back, and so it did something I had never seen before. A bubble of psychic energy formed as the Diving Pokemon plucked us off its back, throwing us onto the little plateau that it had created. However, I still didn't want to battle the thing. First of all, it was a mart Pokemon. Second of all, it was fully evolved. Who knew what kind of power this thing had; I didn't want it fainting off one of my Pokemon. For now, I was just going to have to get rid of it.

Grabbing some cash from my wallet, I threw some bills in my ranger's general direction.
"Get me one of those dolls, and fast! I don't think this guy likes waiting..."

"Get me one of those dolls, and fast! I don't think this guy likes waiting..." Ryan shouted.

I nodded, immediately grabbing a Pokedoll out of my backpack. I tossed it at Feraligatr, and the Pokemon immediately diverted its attention to the toy, leaping on it. It jumped off the plateau and caught the toy in its jaws, and dove under the water's surface. Feraligatr was gone, overcome by the Pokedoll's inexplicable allure to Pokemon.

Lugia took down the platform of psychic energy, and dropped Ryan to its back gently. I was still amazed by Lugia's ability to manipulate its psychic energy with such ease. This Pokemon really earned the status of being considered a legendary Pokemon.

"Well, let's head out deeper," I said. My Dragonite led the way, and Lugia followed closely as we aimed towards the center of the lake. We would find more interesting Pokemon in the deeper parts of the lake for sure.

    "Poliwag!"

A small blue Pokemon splashed out of the water in between my Dragonite and Lugia. It quickly fell beneath the surface again, but resurfaced with an interested look on its face. It was eyeing Ryan, and I knew what this Pokemon wanted.

"Ryan, do you want to battle this Poliwag?" I asked.

Thankfully the Pokedall had worked. The crocodile pokemon snapped it into its jaws, disappearing under the water as Lugia let me back on its back. Wow, Lugia was powerful; it could lift and move me with ease, placing me back on its back.

"Well, let's head out deeper," John said as Dragonite led the way out deeper. I was amazed at all the life that we were seeing in this place; it was much more than I could have imagined when we were still ashore. This was even bigger because of Lugia; if it had not been carting me around on its back, I doubt we would have found many more Pokemon. However, this was not the case, and I would truly never forget this. It was remarkable! Suddenly, something appeared between us. It was a little blue orb with a huge black spiral on its belly, a rounded tail poking up from under it.

"Poliwag!" it exclaimed, diving back in the ocean. I thought I had recognized it; it looked quite similar to my Poliwrath. Looking back at it, I grabbed my Pokedex. It wasn't the most original-looking Pokemon, but I decided to scan it for the data anyways.

"Poliwag, the Tadpole Pokemon." it read, using its dreary monotone as normal. "Its skin is so thin, its internal organs are visible. It has trouble walking on its newly grown feet." hearing this, I decided to check it out. The Pokedex was right; I could literally see its organs, even though it was underwater! The Poliwag took that moment to resurface, staring at me rather curiously. I assumed it wanted to battle; that seemed to be how everything worked in this park.

"Ryan, do you want to battle this Poliwag?" John questioned, and I already knew what my answer was.

"Well, they aren't at the Pokemart...I could probably get something nice for this guy. I think I'll battle it." I replied, pulling a Pokeball out. How would I battle it though? We didn't have any battlefield, and I doubted that Vienna would be able to stand on Lugia. As for Erik...it was worth a try. I threw his ball onto Lugia, releasing the sly little Gleaming Eyes Pokemon. His fur bristled; he didn't really enjoy water too much. However, he was going to have to swim until Lugia could reform its psychic shield.

"Leap towards Poliwag and use Crunch, Erik!" I called out, getting a strange noise of disgust from him. If I would use Electric-type moves, it would be a lot faster. However, I didn't want to disturb the rest of the environment. He paddled furiously, fangs bared as he approached the little tadpole. This was going to be quite the battle, but I would be switching out as soon as we got more comfortable circumstances. Vienna would be way better for this battle; her status moves would seriously be able to help this battle and hurry it up.

    Luxray VS Poliwag: BP-1

    Ranger John Shay

OOC: You don't have to battle in the water. xD Though normally it isn't something you can control, for the sake of simplicity I'll let you be able to get Lugia to form the psychic battlefield whenever you want to battle - that means you are free to use Venusaur in battle. This time, I handled it (you'll still use Luxray, of course). And also, I just want to reaffirm that you know you are only allowed to take three of the Pokemon you capture out of the Park. There is no reason for you not to know this based on what you have said so far in the RP, but I just want to double check since you have already aimed for three Pokemon and it's still pretty early in the RP. Then again, your rolls are stacked. xp Also, gender.

"Well, they aren't at the Pokemart... I could probably get something nice for this guy. I think I'll battle it," Ryan said, tossing a Pokeball. Erik leaped out of the Pokeball, and growled threateningly at Poliwag.

"Poliwag!" Fear embedded itself in Poliwag's eyes. This time, Erik's Intimidate ability was properly functioning.

"Leap towards Poliwag and use Crunch, Erik!" Ryan shouted.

Erik made an annoyed noise at this. He was clearly against wetting his fur in the water, and using a Physical attack that wasn't even Electric-type was not helping him at all. However, the Pokemon still did jump into the water.

At this, Lugia's eyes widened, as though it had forgotten something. It quickly sprang into action and reformed the psychic battlefield in the air, lifting Erik, Ryan and Poliwag on to the plateau. I noticed that Lugia had also accounted for Poliwag being a Water-type Pokemon, as a perfect cube of water covered half of the battlefield (most likely supported by Lugia's psychic powers). Poliwag splashed out of side of the cube, and eyed Erik with its feet on the ground. It seemed Poliwag was not going to use the water quite yet.

Now, Erik ran towards Poliwag, fangs bared and ready to snap at Poliwag. He was clearly ecstatic to be battling on a dry surface rather than water. Newfound energy seemed to course through him, and the Luxray ran much faster than at any other point during this run thus far.

Poliwag tried leaping back into the water to avoid Crunch, knowing Erik would be hesitant to follow it into the water. However, Erik managed to catch up to Poliwag and snapped his jaws on to the Pokemon's chest. Its momentum halted instantly, stopped by Erik. Erik dropped Poliwag, and the Pokemon dropped to the ground.

"Poli..." Poliwag returned to its feet. It had a red bruise on its chest where Erik had bit it, but was more than able to fight back.

Poliwag breathed in, and launched a stream of bubbles at Erik. The BubbleBeam quickly floated over to Erik, and connected with the Pokemon before it had time to back away. Loud pops were audible as the bubbles slammed into Erik and popped against his skin. Erik dropped to a knee, shaken up by the impact of the bubbles on his body.

Luckily, Lugia had lifted us up to the psychic platform. Now I could successfully use some electric-type moves without damaging the environment. This was going to be a lot easier, but the Poliwag already had the upper hand. It opened its mouth, releasing a huge string of bubbles at Erik. I tried to tell him to dodge, but it was too late; they were already hitting him. He dropped to his knees, but I was confident that he could still do this pretty well.

"Nice work, Erik! Now go for a Thunder Fang~" I called out, feeling better and better. Poliwags were not exactly known for being the toughest enemies around, but they evolved into a Politoed, who gets a quite nice ability known as Drizzle. The electric type swung his head back and forth, his impressive maw growing again. The fangs grew as they covered in deep yellow electrical energy. He ran forward towards the cowering tadpole, who didn't look too happy about its opponent. Meh, it looked like a male to me. I knew that it would probably not be mine for very long, but it was worth a good amount. A few people had contacted me before I left, saying if I found one they would play a hella-large sum for it. I knew that I had to catch it, but I wasn't sure if it was weakened enough yet.

"Don't give up! Really make this one count!"

    Luxray VS Poliwag: BP-2

    Ranger John Shay

"Nice work, Erik! Now go for a Thunder Fang!" Ryan commanded, "Don't give up! Really make this one count!"

Erik bared his fangs threateningly at Poliwag again, and electricity coursed through the Pokemon's teeth. He charged towards Poliwag. The Pokemon made a move to turn backwards, but then stopped as a look of realization dawned on his face. I couldn't tell what the Pokemon was thinking, but I guessed that Poliwag had been trying to retreat to the water cube again. However, he must have caught himself halfway, realizing that hiding in the water would not work against an Electric-type move.

Poliwag's hesitation gave Erik an opportunity, and he claimed it immediately. He grabbed Poliwag in between his fangs, and the electricity coursed through Poliwag's body wildly.

"Poli, poli!" he screamed in pain. The electric charge quickly dissipated, and Erik backed off of Poliwag. The Pokemon dropped to the ground, steaming a little bit.

Glaring at Erik, Poliwag weakly returned to his feet. It was clearly tough for the Pokemon - the Thunder Fang had definitely had him hard. Poliwag shook his head, trying to refocus himself. I saw bruises where Erik's jaws had dug into Poliwag. The Pokemon seriously had some incredible willpower to get back up after a hit like that.

Poliwag took a huge breath in. He puffed up his cheeks, and I wondered what attack he was going to use. I knew that most of Poliwag's moves were projectile-based moves that were launched from the Pokemon's mouth.

"Poliwag!" The Pokemon opened his mouth and a large orb of water flew towards Erik. It was beating, much like a heart, as it made its way to Ryan's Luxray - this was Water Pulse. Poliwag wasn't a particularly strong Pokemon, but Water Pulse had a side effect where the target could end up in a confused state. Ryan definitely did not want to risk that.

"Perfect!" I exclaimed as Erik made a perfect blow upon Poliwag's body, clasping on it with electrically-charged fangs. It was the perfect move; I could tell that Poliwag was seriously injured. It prepared another move, one that I was honestly not familiar with. It puffed up its huge expandable cheeks, which didn't exactly help; from what I had seen, almost every attack that it used came from its mouth. It was powerful too; nice evolutions, not a bad movepool; why had I not taken some better damage on this thing?

However, it was too late to reconsider all of these things. I pulled out my last Park Ball, hoping that I had made the right decision. Throwing it high in the air, I silently prayed that this would work; if it didn't I would have no choice but to use a higher-ranked ball, and who knows what else I could find on my journey that could possibly need that missing ball. Although I didn't want to, I knew that I would probably be running away if this Pokeball failed.

OOC: Idk if you actually think this or if it's just another one of your IC things, but if your capture attempt fails, the ball may not necessarily get destroyed. Often, in the Park, it will be reclaimable (either during or after the battle depending on what the Ranger wants to do with it). It can get destroyed, but this is rare imo.

"Perfect!" Ryan exclaimed. He took out a Park Ball - his last, I recalled. If it were to fail and subsequently bounce off of the plateau, it could be very difficult to retrieve. Should it bounce into the lake, it would be impossible to find. Dragonite or Lugia would have to catch it before that happened. I suspected that would have to be the case - I personally didn't think Poliwag was weak enough for a capture yet.

Ryan tossed the Park Ball. Poliwag was sucked into it, and the ball began shaking wildly. It began to wobble closer to the edge, and I grew tense.

Ding! The Park Ball stopped shaking. Poliwag had been caught! I smiled, but then I felt the slightest of breezes. The Park Ball was pushed to the very edge of the plateau - and fell.

"Dragonite, go and grab it quick-" I started. However, I quickly stopped, and exhaled in relief. I was stupid to think the Park Ball would have ever fallen into the lake. Lugia would never have allowed that to happen.

The legendary Pokemon had snared the Park Ball in mid-air with its psychic powers. It seemed to be amused by my reaction, and I held my hand out for the Park Ball. Lugia nodded, and put the capsule containing the newly caught Poliwag into my hand. I put it in my backpack, and watched as Lugia took down the plateau and dropped Ryan gently onto its back.

"Great job, Ryan," I said, smiling encouragingly at him. It was a very encouraging start, and now he had three Pokemon caught. However, that meant if he caught another, he would have to leave behind one of the four Pokemon he would then have. I expected him to know the three Pokemon limit, and instead said, "Well, let's keep going!"

OOC: I knew, it just added to my MCR. xDD

"Alright, Erik!" I said as the ball clicked shut. However, it was getting quite close to the edge, and I silently prayed to any god's name that I could think of. It just slipped off the edge...and fell. Swearing like a sailor, I then noticed Lugia with a whimsical grin upon its face. The legendary Pokemon had caught it with its psychic energy, and was already rocketing it towards John, who seemed quite impressed with its work. He caught it with ease, storing it with the rest of my Pokeballs.

"Great job, Ryan," he replied, getting back on his ride. I simply smiled in gratitude, returning Erik and boarding Lugia. It seemed as though Lugia was finally accepting me; it had been tense in the beginning, but now it could maneuver with ease. I was only sad that I would have to leave some of my new friends behind, as we could only be taking 3 Pokemon out of the Park at one time. This was fun!

"Well, let's keep going!" John said. I couldn't help but grinning, and we took off for more adventures deep in the lake.

"Well, let's keep going!" Ryan exclaimed energetically. I nodded, eager to continue.

"Lugia, we're going to be aiming for the small islands in the center of the lake," I told the legendary, pointing towards a cluster of islands deeper into the lake. I knew that there would be caves on the islands, and those caves would lead us underground and take us back to the main shore right in the heart of the Great Lakes area. It nodded, and I motioned for the Pokemon to follow while telling Dragonite to head for the islands as well.

We begun speeding off towards the islands. I told my Pokemon to make sure not to go too fast - we could end up skipping potential Pokemon encounters that Ryan would be interested in.

To the right, I could see the fins of a school of Carvanha poking out of the water in the distance. They seemed to be heading away from us, and were too far away to consider a true encounter. I heard a loud splash to my left, and I saw a Wailord surfacing. It seemed to be swimming in the same direction as us. However, it was even farther away than the Carvanha - as massive as Wailord was, it was merely a speck from here.

The Great Lakes was an area teeming with wild Pokemon - I knew that from personal experience. Directly below us, thousands of Water Pokemon must be travelling through the currents. We couldn't go down there without a Pokemon capable of using Dive and some gear. I had taken some gear from the Ranger Outpost while I was waiting for Ryan, but there was no way to get around the fact that Ryan didn't have a Pokemon that could use Dive nor Pokemon that could battle underwater.

    "Horsea!"

The cute piping of a Pokemon interrupted my thoughts. I looked down to where the voice had come from, and saw a Horsea floating in between my Dragonite and Lugia. My eyes lit up. This was an interesting encounter.

"Do you want to try and capture this Pokemon, Ryan?" I asked my Trainer.

John was talking to Lugia, pointing at some far off group of islands. Personally, I was a little more interested in what was on the open lake, but I couldn't tell him that; apparently he had seen some good stuff on that side before. I shrugged, tightening my grip on the Diving Pokemon. Lugia was surprisingly calm with me on its back, not seeming to mind at all. This was fun, and I couldn't wait to come back as soon as this run at the Park was over. I'd have to bring more Pokeballs though; you can never have enough here. Lugia then took off, blowing me back for a split second before I got a better grip. We weren't moving too fast, just in case there were Pokemon in the water that might have wanted to battle us.

The amount of Pokemon living here was staggering! Even by just looking to my right, I could see a whole school of deadly-looking Carvahnas. They had sharp yellow fins accenting a blue and red body, with a bark to certainly match their bite. I had seen one before, but only in a textbook; apparently being in the water with one is not a pretty sight. However, they were still pretty amazing to watch, as they swam in a strangely elegant way. It was kind of mesmerizing, but I was looking for more. Turning to my left, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A gargantuan whale Pokemon was splashing along in the waters far away, looking like just a dot. I opened my Pokedex, but it looked like we were too far away to scan it.

"It's a Wailord," an odd voice in my head said. I quickly realized this was Lugia speaking to me with its telepathy, and typed the name into my Pokedex. Lugia was right! Wailords were sick Pokemon; I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. However, at that one moment something else caught my attention.

"Horsea!" a small cry was heard from under us as a little cerulean seahorse popped up from the water, gently squirting me with a blast of water. It was a Horsea, one of the more rare Pokemon in the Lakes. Luckily, I still had my Pokedex in my hand. The thing took only a second to calibrate itself, telling me to point it at my unknown Pokemon. Turning it towards the little water type, it instantly locked on and began to speak.

"Horsea, the Dragon Pokemon. Evolves into Seadra and eventually Kingdra. It makes its nest in the shade of corals. If it senses danger, it spits murky ink and flees." it finished, leaving me quite impressed with the little tyke. Kingdra was a very famous Pokemon, certainly a force to be reckoned with. I knew I wanted this thing to be mine; screw anything else I've caught so far, this Horsea was coming home with me. Now I just needed to figure out how I was going to weaken it…

“Hmm…I think I’ll go with Vienna.” I said as Lugia created our typical psychic battlefield. The helpless Horsea was lifted high in the air, placed rather gently onto the stadium. I grabbed Vienna’s Pokeball from my belt, throwing it onto the shield of light. She flew out, pounding the ground with an audible crack. The powerful grass-type shook her flower as she eyed the Horsea with leeriness, not sure why her trainer had needed her for such a small opponent. Surely Erik would have been more than enough to handle this thing!

“Okay Vienna, go for a Razor Leaf, then hit it with a Tackle!” I said, not sure what I was doing. Hopefully this wouldn’t do too much damage; it was only a Tackle, after all. Vienna nodded, rustling the foliage on her back. The leaves under the massive flower were being sharpened to a tiny but painful point, and she made sure that they were loosened just enough to come off when she wanted them to. Rising onto her hind legs, Vienna roared and came down, letting the razor-sharp leaves fly free towards the poor Horsea. At that moment, she continued her assault with her next move. Scratching the ground, she charged at the tiny seahorse, moving surprisingly fast despite her rather large body. She leaped high in the air, literally directly above Horsea. She came down at a fast rate, giving it no way to escape. I cringed; this was really going to hurt.

    BP-1: Venusaur VS Horsea

    Ranger John Shay

OOC: Gender? Also, battling a Pokemon that has to fight in water with a Pokemon that cannot fight in water is relaly awkward, so I'm going to try and compensate.

Ryan nodded. I wasn't surprised - Kingdra were incredibly rare and valuable assets, and there was no way anyone would let an opportunity at one pass by. Ryan carefully plucked a Pokeball from his belt. "Hmm…I think I’ll go with Vienna."

Ryan tossed his Pokeball into the air, and his Venusaur Vienna was launched into the air. Lugia created its psychic battlefield once again, and lifted Horsea, Vienna, and Ryan carefully on to the stadium. Once again, I noticed he had created a cube of water. Horsea had no means of moving on land - it would have to be contained within the cube for the entire battle.

"Horsea!" the Pokemon squeaked, swimming around the odd water structure.

Ryan wasted no time in kicking the battle off. "Okay Vienna, go for a Razor Leaf, then hit it with a Tackle!"

Vienna nodded. Razor sharp leaves were thrown out of the bulb on her back, and they flew towards Horsea. Horsea's eyes opened wide, and could only watch as the leaves penetrated the cube of water and sliced it.

    "Horsea!" the Pokemon cried.

Vienna began running towards the cube of water. I could only guess she was planning to run into the water and tackle Horsea out of it. However, Horsea did not allow Vienna to do as she wished so easily. It eyed the Venusaur resiliently, and fired a burst of ink at Ryan's Pokemon. Vienna was stopped in her tracks by the move, and begun trying to shake the ink off her face.

Horsea started glowing with a fierce red aura. I watched it. It seemed to be... dancing, almost. It was moving its body in an odd rhythm, and started swimming towards the edge of the cube. I gasped as it broke the surface... and kept going. It was flying!

"Dragonite," my Pokemon remarked, and then I realized what was going on. Horsea, a Pokemon with Dragon-type characteristics due to being in the same evolutionary line as the part Dragon-type Kingdra, was using Dragon Dance. Somehow, it must have developed the ability to fly. I knew that Horsea would also gain an Attack and Speed boost. However, I couldn't see the boosts making too much of a difference. The Attack boost would make very little impact, as most of Horsea's attacks were Special moves. The Speed boost would definitely help, but as Horsea would not be accustomed to moving around out of water, so I figured the two would negate each other.

I looked at Ryan. This added a whole new twist to things. What would he do?

"What the f-" I began to say, blown back by what the Horsea was doing. It had successfully blocked Vienna's Tackle with a powerful Octozooka, only making it look more desirable in my eyes. A huge ball of strange black gook exploded in the poor grass-type's face, blowing off her concentration. She walked around blindly as she wiped the crud out of her eyes and mouth, being careful not to let it in the water. The Horsea smiled; its plan had worked well. At this point, I could not comprehend how smart this thing was. And it was even doing this while being trapped in a cube of water! That was incredible! it was almost like some crudely-named Asian man was behind him directing all of his actions through forum posts behind a Vibrava avatar!

This thing was the greatest thing ever, maybe even as good as canned bread. That was saying something; I think we all know how important canned bread is, so that was really saying something! Maybe even more important than oxygen...wait what the hell am I talking about? The sheer glee of finding such a rare Pokemon was giving me a strange emotion, almost like getting high but not really. Not that I would know, of course... However, at this point I had no idea how the hell I was going to capture it and why it was making me feel so weird. It was strong, fast, and surprisingly smart; there would literally be nothing standing in my way of making this epicsauce Pokemon mine. However, when I turned back around, it was doing something quite different. The little seahorse seemed to be having a seizure, its limbs wildly convulsing as it hatched some devious plan that would no doubt ruin my day. Maybe it wasn't so much of a strategist after all...

Grabbing my Pokedex, I realized it was using a Dragon Dance. However, the creature was using it in the most surprising way. It broke through its cage of water, flying around like a true dragon. It was the Dragon Pokemon, after all. The Dragonite watched Horsea with obvious intent, realizing that they were probably related in some way or another. It was actually kind of cool watching the Pokemon with no obvious wings flying around like a Pidgey with a limp. However, I then realized that it was going to be way harder to hit if the thing was flying around. Vienna realized this too, not sure how she would reach any of her moves towards the sky.

"Oh, I know Vienna! Use Vine Whip, and tie it up!" I exclaimed, proud of the plan I had concocted. Her slender long grass-tentacles appeared from underneath her flower, reaching straight up towards Horsea. The little water-type seemed scared; I think anyone would have been scared at that point. Laughing deviously, I realized that this battle may be easier than I thought it was going to...
