Voltaire was quiet from this point onward. Not completely quiet, obviously, given that he had to give commands to his Pokemon, but quiet enough so as not to disturb the sleeping Pokemon. Maybe Voltaire had a plan in mind for all of this. He was taking the opportunity to get nutrients from the soil into his Pokemon's body and to gain some strength.

But who knew how much time Voltaire would have to do all of this? And the fact that he still had the vines connected to the sleeping ugly fish and now that he was rooted to the ground, it concerned Aleria a bit. But if the guy had a strategy, Aleria wasn't going to complain at all. Whatever worked to get the Feebas into one of those good old Park Balls they sold in the park store.

Aleria watched as the Roserade dug her feet into the ground, rooting them there and absorbing nutrients from the soil. They were by a river, so the soil was likely to be more rich in terms of nutrients as well. And then he raised his red and pink flowers up towards what little sunlight shone through the trees and absorbed energy through that. It wasn't much, but it would be enough to give Roserade's moves a bit more power to their punches. Not that Roserade ever did much punching. Maybe this one did. Aleria wasn't sure since she hadn't seem him battle much, but all the Roserade she'd seen before this one never punched a thing. Not even a fly.

Feebas began making noises in her sleep though. Aleria couldn't understand them, but it sounded like she was saying the name of her species. Her body flailed towards the water, eventually stopping just before she fell in. Al raised an eyebrow at the Pokemon's actions. "Splash, maybe? Can't really be sure. Might've been Splash. She didn't do much though, so I think you're fine." When Aleria spoke this time, she kept her voice low, quiet so as not to disturb the sleeping fish. It would be really bad if she was the one who woke up the fish and ruined Voltaire's plan instead of the trainer himself or his Pokemon... or if the fish woke up.

The Feebas is moving. Ranger Aleria said it could be splash. Sheesh, the Feebas is sleep-splashing. For such a useless move, it could a little bit help the Feebas. Hopefully, the Feebas should not splash up some more. Worst case scenario, the Feebas would Splash until it reaches the river. It could float away while sleeping. An even worse case scenario would be when the Feebas would wake up after reaching the river. The Feebas would probably swim away from the battle and Roserade's efforts are to be in vain. Otherwise, the Feebas is actually interested in battling, who knows?

Meanwhile, the Feebas is asleep. Leech vines from the Leech Seed attack were still attached from the fish to Roserade's bouquet-slash-hands. I could make Roserade haul the Feebas back, but the shaking might wake the Feebas back. Well, I could just send another flurry of Sleep Powder, but a mishap may occur. Wind might divert the course and make the powders come to us, making us fall to sleep. Or just making the Sleep Powder's course diverted. How pessimistic.

Well, I guess I should try to pin down the Feebas more.

"Rhode, use more of that Leech Seed to pin the Feebas down," I said to the Roserade, while taking account of the sleeping Feebas.

Even with the leech vine still in his hands, the Roserade managed to send more of the Leech Seeds to the Feebas. The Leech Seeds would sprout on contact and would release the leech vines. The leech vines would then entangle the Pokemon, and the loose ends of the leech vines would plant themselves to the ground. A perfect anchor.

Now, hopefully, the Feebas won't wake up. Yet.

Feebas flailed a bit, just a little, but she didn't do much else. It was much like a human shifting slightly in their sleep. Voltaire was limited in his options at this point. One wrong move, and the Feebas would wake right up. It was a nerve wracking situation, really.

So he went with a harmless option: more Leech Seed. This time, however, instead of being fully attached to Roserade, it would be attached to the ground as well, rendering the fish immobile once it woke up. The seeds hit the ground near Feebas, and then the vines sprouted and wrapped themselves around the fish. Feebas shifted a little, but she made no motion of doing much else. She was knocked out now, at least in terms of sleep, not knocked out as in unconscious. Words were great.

Aleria glanced over at Voltaire. "Welp, now you've pretty much rendered it immobile unless it breaks free of those vines holding it to the ground," she said. "If you want to catch it, I'd try to weaken it some more."

OOC: As we have discussed a very long time ago, I'll ditch this Feebas. Bunny whenever.

    ---

The Feebas is still asleep, not to mention it is completely immobile due to the vines that entangled it. I pretty much have no idea how to continue this battle. Attacking it would wake up the Feebas (not to mention any worst-case scenarios following an attack). Acting defensively is futile, since nobody is attacking.

    I looked at the time. 2:28 p.m..

Wait, we had been here for an hour?

I do not exactly know what time the battle started, but something tells me that I have spent too much time in here. I would not want to reach nightfall by the time the expedition ends.

Plus, I have a fearful hunch that the Enigma Ruins is different at night.

I went over to the Ranger, silent (so as to prevent waking up the sleeping Pokemon) and observant. "Um, Ranger Aleria? I don't think we could spend more time with this. I really don't want to spend way too much time on a single Pokemon, and I would not want to reach nighttime here," I said to her, "Should we just walk away and look for another Pokemon, or should we use one of those dolls?"

    ---
@Felly; feel free to bunny me into buying a doll.

Aleria nodded. Feebas was pretty much immobilized, bound to the ground by the Leech Seed that trapped him there. She flailed a bit, maybe dreaming or maybe waking up, but the roots showed no signs of letting up any time soon. Now would be an opportune time to walk away since Voltaire was no longer interested in the ugly little fish. Aleria led the way, her trainer and his Pokemon following behind.

    Smack!

The ranger jumped at the sudden sound, turning to the source of the sound to the left. Feebas. She'd broken free after all. "Looks like she woke up," Aleria said. The fish flopped around a bit, moving slightly towards the water in an attempt to lure them back into battle. Voltaire still showed no interest in the little fish though. He handed over the 500 PokeDollars needed for a Poke Doll, and after taking the money, Aleria produced a rubber Magikarp from her bag. A plush one would do her no good, and she was grateful for the fact that she'd brought some rubber dolls as well. Tossing the fish towards the river, the Feebas flopped as she watched the doll bounce off of the ground and into the water. Feebas followed the rubber fish in.

Free to leave, Aleria led the way until they reached a fork in the road. It looked dark no matter which path they chose, but the darkness was a considerable way down the path. Still visible, but a way's down. "Which way do you want to go? I have a feeling the darkness is a change in environment, so I really have no idea what we'll be getting into."

OOC: Will deduct on some other post. Please remind me :D (i cant atm)

    ---

With the Feebas away, we could continue the walk. Ranger Aleria led me along the route until we reached a fork in the road. It seemed that either way led to darkness. I would want to avoid dark places, but I guess this was part of the marvels of Enigma Ruins.

"Which way do you want to go? I have a feeling the darkness is a change in environment, so I really have no idea what we'll be getting into," Ranger Aleria asked me.

Oh well, I could not opt out of the darkness.

"Well, I guess we should go down this route. It seems relatively brighter," I said as I pointed to the route with at least a brighter path than the other one.

Why is the path even dark, anyway?

They walked down the more lit path and through the darkness. When they emerged from it, they were in a room that was nothing but darkness. Aleria frowned. "You'd think a more lit path would lead you into something more lit, not something darker," she mumbled. Then she shrugged. Such was the mystery of the Enigma Ruins. A strange place they were, that was for sure. Backwards too.

Nevertheless, there was a light at the end of their figurative tunnel, so Aleria led Voltaire down that path. They'd reached the light, a chandelier hanging from the ceiling that cast a purple light in the room. In the center was a blue Pokemon. "Waaaaaaahbuffet!" the Pokemon cried when it saw Aleria and Voltaire. It raised a blue arm in greeting, but it flopped back down to its side as quickly as it went up.

"Wobbuffet," Aleria commented. "You want it?"

    Payments: 29500 - 1000 = 28500 (that's for two dolls)

    ---

    It got dark, anyway.

Walking through the relatively lighter path led us to a pitch-black place. At first, we felt it was a pitch-black room, but walking the distance more revealed a light to the exit.

Since when did the room turn into a tunnel? I thought.

This must be the magic of the Enigma Ruins.

The new room was a simple grassy cobblestone room. A single large chandelier hung from the somewhat high ceiling, and it casted a purple light in the room. It wouldn't be surprising if the chandelier was a Chandelure in disguise.

Anyways, a Wobbuffet appeared in front of us, greeting us with the ever-known, "Waaaaaaahbuffet!"

"Wobbuffet," Aleria commented. "You want it?"

"I guess not. Wobbuffet is a tricky Pokemon to use, which is not my style of fighting. I'd be using a doll, if running away is impossible," I said, giving the money, just in case.

"I guess not. Wobbuffet is a tricky Pokemon to use, which is not my style of fighting," Voltaire said. "I'd be using a doll, if running away is impossible." He had the money out and held it towards Aleria in case running away was indeed not possible.

"Nothing is impossible!" she said confidently.

"Waaaaaaaaaaaaahbuffet!" the Pokemon cheered. As Aleria and Voltaire walked past the blue Pokemon, it got sadder as they walked farther and farther away. It didn't even put up a fight as they were leaving.

Soon enough though, the environment changed as they got closer and closer to the blinding white light that was in the dark tunnel. Once their eyes adjusted to the light, they were able to see that they were in a rugged, rocky environment. The occasional boulder tumbled down the side of a mountain. Thankfully, it was a distant mountain, so they had nothing to fear. They were on a spiraling path that led upward though. The peak would probably be another environment change if they didn't encounter a Pokemon first.

But they did encounter a Pokemon. A Geodude rolled down the path, stopping itself just before it crashed into Aleria and Voltaire. The rugged Pokemon floated in the air, arms crossed and frustrated that the trainer and ranger duo were blocking their path.

"Want the Geodude?" she asked. "If not, we can just let him get back to rolling."

OOC: Keep that money for a while. Also, male Geodude, please.

    ---

We got to walk away from the Wobbuffet without going into a fight or using one of those dolls. The Wobbuffet seemed friendly, though.

"Well, I guess you should keep that payment for a while. That would be my payment for a Poke Doll later," I said to the Ranger, who seemed to think about the unused money.

Anyways, we walked further down the path the Ruins supplied. Eventually, we reached a rocky terrain, seemingly from the base of a mountain. It seems that we were climbing upward and the peak would be a transition.

Suddenly, a Geodude rolled in front of us, just missing us from colliding either one of us. It seemed angry that we were obstacles in its rolling path.

"Want the Geodude?" Ranger Aleria asked. "If not, we can just let him get back to rolling."

"I'll try to catch that," I replied, "it's been way too long since I tried catching any Pokemon here. Who knows, that one might be the last one I'm interested in catching."

I took one of my Pokemon's Poke Ball and opened it in the air. "Go, Rhode, use Grass Whistle and make it fall asleep!" I said to the Roserade, who was waiting for a command.

Roserade would play a tune using it leaves, a special technique only known by Pokemon. Some, like Rhode, have unleashed its potential and even learned how to manipulate the sounds while still making its opponents drowsy. He prefers Ode to Joy, though.

Before I forgot, I said to Ranger Aleria, "We should cover our ears."

Voltaire told her to hold onto the money, and Aleria looked a little hesitant at doing so. "I'm... not sure if I can do that," she said slowly. Was she allowed to do that or did she have to return the money to the trainer? She tried to remember what the Ranger Handbook had said; she'd studied it so carefully in preparation for her test, but nothing was coming to mind at all. "But I guess I can if you want me to. Might need the doll later anyways, we'll see. I'll have to find out about that for later use." She chuckled a bit, putting the money in her bag. "If you end up not using the money, I'll give it back at the end."

He opted to catch the Geodude, noting that it had been a while since he'd caught anything and that it was probably the last Pokemon he'd been interested. Both pretty valid points. He'd already gone through ten of his twenty encounters and caught only one thing. The Darumaka he caught was one of his first encounters, and while he did start fighting a Feebas, he ended up abandoning it after a while. Hopefully that fish got back in the water.

The Roserade had returned to battle. Roserade was apparently one of his most used Pokemon; she could barely remember him using his Dusknoir or Lucario or Crobat at all. Didn't really matter though. In this case, Roserade was the best choice anyways. It had an advantage over the Rock and Ground typed Geodude. Roserade was going to sing a song again to try and get the Geodude to fall asleep. That was what he'd done last time, and he ended up running from the Feebas. Aleria hoped that wouldn't be the case this time...

"Right," she said in response to his comment about covering her ears. She did do that. A drowsy ranger would be a no good ranger, and this job was important to her in regards to feeding her Pokemon and keeping her apartment and so many other things. The Roserade started whistling his song again, and Aleria watched as the Geodude started to float to the ground and curl up to fall asleep. The Geodude was sleeping, but it kept moving a bit, curling up into a ball.

Now that the Geodude is asleep, I decided the next course of action to Roserade. Something for damage, but not too much.

"Rhode, use Mega Drain!" I said to the awaiting Roserade.

Mega Drain is a life-draining move, often used by Grass-type Pokemon. While Giga Drain is a better option than this, it is enough to chip away some damage, especially for a weak Pokemon like Geodude. The type advantage does help.

Maybe a little more damage can help, but it would all depend on the Geodude. "Rhode, if the Geodude awakes, use Bullet Seed. Not full force, just a little bit weaker. If it's asleep, don't move for a while."

I do not know if the Geodude will wake up, since Mega Drain won't be as physical as some moves as Bullet Seed. But surely, any living thing would notice that its life force is being sapped away with a plant-like energy. Either way, the Geodude would expect a flurry of energy-packed seeds being pelted on it.

'Is... is he basically doing the same thing he did last time with the Feebas?' Aleria asked herself. He was using Mega Drain again. Roserade was at full health, and that was cool in Aleria's eyes, but he was doing the same thing again. She put her hands in her pockets. She'd keep quiet for now. Maybe this would get exciting sooner or later.

"Rhode, if the Geodude awakes, use Bullet Seed. Not full force, just a little bit weaker. If it's asleep, don't move for a while," the trainer said. Okay, well... that was exciting, or so Aleria guessed.

Geodude rolled a little as the energy was sapped from his helpless body. He opened his eyes, blinking as his eyes focused on his surroundings. By the time he caught his bearings and floated back up into the air, he was being pelted by a Bullet Seed.

    That really woke him up.

As a result, he threw his whole forty-four point one pound body into the Roserade, knocking the plant over.

"I think he's mad now," Aleria commented, a bit of a smile forming on her face. "Shame 'cause he seemed so happy earlier."

OOC: i'll try to resurrect this lol

    ---

At some point, the effect of the GrassWhistle wore off from the Geodude. As the Pokemon woke up from its slumber, it used its heavy (or so it seems) head of a body to tackle Rhode. If I remember correctly, that's Take Down, and would probably damage the Geodude as recoil.

Immobilizing the Geodude is a must, though GrassWhistle might not be that effective on an enraged Pokemon. In addition, it would be bothersome for me and the Ranger to cover our ears to prevent drowsiness. A sleeping Ranger could be an additional burden on top of this expedition.

"Use Stun Spore! Make the powder go around in a spiral so that the Geodude will be trapped in the vortex!" I said to my Roserade.

If my plans go correctly, the Geodude will be trapped inside the whirlpool-like Stun Spore. The Geodude won't be able to move much, and contact with the powder would cause paralysis, which would then cause immobility.

Hopefully, the wind would not change course and fly instead towards the Roserade, or, hopefully not, to the Ranger and I.

Aleria frowned a little. She was growing a little bored of Voltaire's battle style as of late. Lots of status moves and little fighting. Status moves were great and all, but not nearly this much. This time around, it was a Stun Spore.

She watched as Geodude ignored the yellow spores that were showing up on the petals of Roserade's flower hands. Geodude went to float around and gather rocks. Some were small rocks and others were medium sized rocks. None too large though. He was able to hold quite a few of them. Even as Roserade released the spores from his flower hands, Geodude continued to throw rocks. The wind never changed direction, so some of the spores hit Geodude, but he seemed relatively unbothered by them. They stuck to his rock-like body though and occasionally let out a jolt of electrical energy. When the air was no longer full of the spores, Geodude turned to Roserade and threw all the rocks he had collected at Roserade, one by one, with all of his strength. For a little floating rock, Geodude had a lot of strength. There were visible marks being left on Roserade's body as the rocks struck his plant-like form. Not every single rock hit the Grass and Poison type though. The electrical jolts would course through Geodude and hinder his ability to throw the rocks at full strength.

Now that the Geodude is paralyzed and an easier target for attacks, Roserade can now unleash the attacks to weaken the Geodude, but not much to cause fainting.

"Rhode, use Mega Drain to recover some of your energy. After that, use Magical Leaf," I said to the Roserade as he waits for the next set of attacks.

I had to make Rhode use his Mega Drain attack so that I could save up my own healing items, considering he can heal with his own efforts. His bouquet-hands would glow with a green light, radiating with the energy and aura of most Grass-types. Then, the opponent would glow with the same kind of energy. Then, the enemy's energy would flow away in the form of glowing green orbs, which would enter into Rhode through his bouquet-hands and therefore adding up to his own health.

As for the Magical Leaf, it is a move similar to Razor Leaf, which is weird because Rhode does not know how to use Razor Leaf but can utilize Magical Leaf instead. The striking difference is that Magical Leaf is indeed magical because the leaves will seek the Geodude no matter how evasive it is. The leaves also glow with different colors, and Rhode tends to produce leaves that glow with a pastel shade of blue, purple, and pink. I think it is part of his aesthetic.

Hopefully, if the moves weaken the Geodude enough, I could go on and capture the Geodude.

Full on attacks. Now this was how Aleria liked to see her battles. Full force, none of this silly paralysis and stat raising (or lowering) nonsense. That probably explained why she lost most of her battles and why she'd never take up a gym of her own, but that was okay. Rangering was just the job for her, and she was happy with it. It got slow from time to time, but it paid well and that was good enough for her.

Roserade's flower hands took on a green aura as he rushed towards the Geodude. The floating rock made some sort of effort to move, but he couldn't move fast enough before Roserade placed his hands on him and sapped energy from his already weakened body. That energy helped Roserade out as it healed him, though not by much.

Knowing that he couldn't do much, Geodude curled up into a ball and laid on the ground. His body took on a metallic shine at first, but once that shine faded away, he started to roll in place, kicking up dirt as he did so. The glowing leaves that Roserade had summoned to him ended up hitting the Geodude, but it did nothing to stop him from rolling in place. Instead, he just rolled towards Roserade and hit him. The attack didn't do much to the flower handed Pokemon, but that didn't deter Geodude as he fell back and rolled in place some more, gaining more and more speed with each passing second.

OOC: The gap from the last post to this one is a YEAR.

    ---

Even if the Geodude is paralyzed from the previous moves, it still has the energy to perform Rollout. If I do not stop the Geodude's efforts, this might turn out for the worse as the rolling Pokemon get more speed and power.

"Rhode, use Leech Seed to pin down that Pokemon. Make sure to hit it to make the vines grow to the ground," I say to my Roserade.

If this idea will work as planned, the Leech Seed will cover the Geodude enough to stop it from rolling. Just like the one with the Feebas earlier, this should immobilize the Geodude so that I can carry out my actual goal.

I take out one Super Ball from my bag. "Hey, I'm about to catch the Geodude now," I say to the Ranger to notify her of my intentions.

I needed Rhode to pin the Geodude down so I can aim the Super Ball to it properly. If it does not work, I just hope the Geodude would not go all over the place and evade my attempts to catch it.

Geodude rolled on. Paralysis shook his body, but it did nothing to stop his rolling. He just launched himself at the Roserade and hoped for the best. Unfortunately for him, the Roserade launched the Leech Seeds at that same moment. The vines erupted from the ground when the seeds collided with the ground and Geodude's rolling body, and they wrapped themselves around his round body. He was still able to roll, however, as the vines were loose around his body.

Aleria nodded when the trainer told her that he intended to catch the Geodude. "Might wanna do it quick though, I'm not sure how long those vines are going to hold."

Sure enough, as soon as Aleria finished speaking, the Geodude broke free from the vines and continued rolling towards Roserade. His rolling had been slowed from being in the vines, but he was still going. Aleria watched as her trainer threw the ball, and thankfully, it hit the Geodude and absorbed him inside of it. The ball landed on the ground and started to shake, not once, not twice, but three times. It clicked shut.

Aleria stepped forward to pick up the ball and put it into her bag. "That's two caught," she said, turning to her trainer. "Wanna rest up before we keep going?"

    The Geodude was caught, thankfully.

The Ranger picked up the ball from the ground, for safekeeping. "That's two caught," she said to me. "Wanna rest up before we keep going?"

"I think we should go forward now. I'm content with what I have now, but I wanna see some other Pokemon before we call it a day," I replied.

I took Rhode's Poke Ball. "Good job Rhode, rest up a bit," I said to the Roserade before sending him back to the ball. Hopefully, I wouldn't need to use him later, since he's been tired from all the battles that he had. I guess I'll try to catch other Pokemon without having to rely on status moves for a while.

Once the Roserade was back in his Poke Ball, I looked back to Ranger Aleria. "Let's go, shall we? Time to know if the next Pokemon's gonna be good enough to catch. Please lead the way for me, let's see wherever the Ruins decides to send us."
