A feisty Bug-type the Nincada was! The Nincada was trying to shoot String Shot attacks on thhe Ranger. Ranger Al took the money from me and took a Doll from her bag and got rid of the Nincada.

The scenery changed. Again. The place became a cool, sandy beach that reminded me of a place somewhere. After a while, Ranger Al spotted a Slowbro along the shoreline, being the signature form of lazy. She asked me if I am interested with it.

"Uh no, I will pass. Slowbro are powerful, but they are quite slow. Here's the money if the Slowbro is a little bit persistent," I said, along with the money if ever the Doll is required.

And thus a string of rejections had begun. From Hoppip to Nincada and now to Slowbro, Voltaire had rejected yet another Pokemon. At least he had a valid point for rejecting it. Slowbro were kind of slow. Good, yes. Slow, yes. Was that a good combination? No, probably not. Sometimes, just because a Pokemon was good and slow didn't necessarily mean that they made a good combination... or something. Aleria's thoughts made more sense in her head than they did on paper most of the time. It was one of the reasons why she didn't always necessarily voice her thoughts.

Still, Slowbro looked bored already, just watching Voltaire and Aleria, so he went back out into the waves. "Welp, looks like the beach is our doll now," Aleria commented as the Slowbro went out to sea. With a shrug, Aleria led Voltaire along the beach. The forest could be explored later. Just by the fact that their environment hadn't changed just yet meant that there was still something, or a lot of things, that were here for them to discover and for Voltaire to potentially catch. It made sense. There were loads of Pokemon to be found on a beach with a forest nearby. Whatever couldn't be found here would just have to be found elsewhere in whatever area the Engima Ruins decided to throw them into next.

As they walked along the beach, a yellow Pokemon wearing black boxing gloves jogged towards them, kicking up a little sand with each step it took. A little bow was at the top of its head, and two red circles were on its cheeks. The circles weren't filled in, so they showed the yellow of the Makuhita's cheeks. Makuhita started to jog in place once it was close enough to Aleria and Voltaire, so the ranger turned to her trainer. "Are you interested in a Makuhita?"

As we walked through the Enigma-Ruins-slash-beach, we get to see a Makuhita jogging along the sandy beach. As usual, Ranger Aleria asked me if I am interested.

Actually, I like to use Fighting-type Pokemon. But when it comes to Hariyama (when it evolved from Makuhita), it has low Defenses and is slow. Maybe faster than Slowbro, but still slow.

"Uh, still no. Let's continue, but I'll provide a Doll if persistent than usual," I said to the Ranger.

Add a Makuhita to the list of Pokemon that Voltaire was running from. This little guy seemed to understand very quickly that he wasn't wanted though, and he went right back to his jog. "Well, that was quick," Aleria commented with a shrug. At least she wouldn't need to take any more money from the guy. She was about to start walking, maybe leading Voltaire to the forest to see what lurked in there before their environment changed again, but she stopped.

Something was up. Something was weird. Something wasn't right.

Before Aleria could even ask if Voltaire felt the same way, their environment quickly changed around them and all hopes of taking Voltaire into the forest were abandoned as her hand flew to one of the red and white capsules she carried on her belt. Shadows surrounded them, and Aleria was genuinely concerned for their safety. Whatever this was, it creeped her out on so many levels, it wasn't even funny.

But then an ever familiar red eye peeked out from among the shadows, and a body joined it. It was a Pokemon Aleria knew all too well, and it was one she knew Voltaire would be able to recognize as well. Dusknoir. Voltaire owned one of his own, and Aleria was already well aware of the answer she was about to receive for the question she was about to ask. "Do you want a Dusknoir? I know you have one already, but I'm supposed to ask regardless."

OOC: I really dunno, so I'll assume it is a ruins environment.

    ---

The Makuhita seemed more focused in its routine than in meddling on other people, so it left us to roam around anymore.

Hmm, I should really catch a Pokemon now. I've been passing many Pokemon of great potential. But then, I can't really catch them all.

As we walked along the beach, the Ruins did its magic and shifted the environment. The sand changed into cobblestone, and the whole scenery went back to the Ruins. That was not the end of it though. The place darkened, and a single eye floated nearby. It was really familiar.

    It was a Dusknoir.

    I already owned one though.

"Do you want a Dusknoir? I know you have one already, but I'm supposed to ask regardless." It's their job to show the Pokemon and offer it to us, I think.

"Well, no, obviously. And I don't know anyone interested with it though. Also, it's previous evolutions is available in the local Mart. I'll buy a doll if ever."

Aleria nodded and started to back away from the Dusknoir, holding her hands up as a sign of surrender. The Ghost Pokemon didn't seem to care though, and it roared at the trainers. Al flinched at the sound, suddenly terrified of what this Dusknoir would do to them. She took the money from Voltaire and tossed out a doll for the ghost. It took it, thank Arceus, and their environment went right back to the beachy terrain they were just on.

Right back to where they'd started. That was weird. She shrugged and led Voltaire towards the forest, back to her original plan before Dusknoir interrupted it. As they got closer to the forest, she spotted a little green flower bud gazing out at the flowers. It hadn't noticed them just yet, but it was there. A Budew, smelling the pretty yellow and red tulips that were in the flower patch near the forest. This was an interesting area, really. She understood the forest and the beach, but the random flower patch just outside of the forest was weird.

    The Engima Ruins were weird.

But Aleria digressed. She had a job to do. "Do you want a Budew?"

After the Dusknoir's exit, the environment returned to being the sandy beach it was a while ago. I kind of having a preference on this environment than the dark ruins the Dusknoir brought along.

    And so we walked more.

We went to the forest near the sandy beach. Or probably because Ranger Aleria pointed it to me and I just, well, followed suit.

The forest was, well, forest-like. Trees and all. AS we walked, Ranger Al saw a flower patch of tulips and a seemingly out-of-place flower. Upon closer examination, it was a Budew.

"Do you want a Budew?" Ranger Al asked me.

"Ehh, I don't need one. I have a Roserade already and I do not know someone who wants it. As usual, doll if ever," I replied, looking at the Budew.

Aleria nodded and watched as the Budew nodded to the pair and then went to explore the flower patch it hid in. Maybe it would come back again and surprise someone else coming through the ruins. Just because Voltaire didn't have the desire for a Budew, especially considering he already owned a Roserade like he said (and he'd even brought the Roserade with him on the run; maybe the Budew knew there was a Roserade around?), didn't mean someone else wouldn't pass by and want it. It left Aleria wondering if the Pokemon were just randomly transported here from other areas of the park or how that even worked. How did Pokemon come to the Engima Ruins? Were they already stationed here, waiting to be encountered by a trainer and ranger pair? Or were they transported here from other areas of the park when the time came for them to appear? Just how smart were these ruins?

She shook her head, bringing herself back to the present. They were walking through the forest now. There was water in the distance; Aleria could hear what sounded like a stream not too far from their current position. They wouldn't follow the stream just yet. There were other parts of the forest to explore, and it couldn't be too hard to find the stream again. All they had to do was listen.

But right now, they were feeling. Aleria could feel a tugging sensation that drew her farther and farther away from the stream, and as a result, she was bringing Voltaire along with her. Every time she tried to look in another direction, her attention would turn forward again. The tugging sensation suddenly got weaker, and Al gasped as a Pokemon appeared in front of them in the clearing they'd just entered. "Oh shit!" she gasped. A pale purple Pokemon that looked more gray than purple with a darker purple tail that started at its abdominal area glared at the trainer and ranger duo. "Mewtwo," Aleria breathed, gazing in awe at the Pokemon.

The Mewtwo let out a cry, and suddenly, Aleria brought her attention to Voltaire. "This here is a Mewtwo," she explained. "You probably already know this, but just as a reminder, you can't catch legendary Pokemon. You don't have a Digital Camera on you either, so snapping a picture and earning some extra cash isn't an option." Al held her tongue on her recommendation of a Digital Camera. It really was a brilliant item though. It had the opportunity to pay itself off and then some in one visit into the park. "Our only options are to run without a doll or just buy a doll. I strongly recommend not fighting the Mewtwo though. Like I said earlier, it's a legendary Pokemon, and they're pretty powerful."

And it would be a damn shame if poor Voltaire could only go home with the Darumaka he'd caught today.

Walking through the forest, we go.

Going away from the beach, we do.

    Follow the Ranger, I do.

The forest, I feel a certain presence in it. Something vague. Something omnipresent. Something mysterious.

The Ranger. I feel like she is also intrigues by it. She only walks straight through the path. No small talk. No moving of the head. Just straight walks.

    A mysterious power.

    Something magnetic.

    Something powerful.

    A breeze of wind. Creepy.

    Rustling of leaves. Unnatural.

    Slight temperature drop. Must not.

    Forest clearing. The answer.

    Return to reality.

So the mysterious force that was tugging us is a Mewtwo. Uh oh, I thought, a Legendary. It is very powerful. The Mewtwo is known for its savageness. We must go. It is terribly dangerous.

"Hey Ranger," I muttered (probably because of fright) "I'd give a doll already. Don't wanna risk things."

    ---
    @Felly;

OOC: So that magical prose is probably the character's reaction to Mewtwo's powers lol. Also 48840 - 500 = 48340.

"Hey Ranger," Voltaire had said. His words had snapped Aleria out of her thoughts, brought her back to reality, grounded her. "I'd give a doll already. Don't wanna risk things."

She nodded. Doll was their best bet, so Aleria took one out of her bag and tossed it at the legendary. Mewtwo grabbed it, and then it teleported away, never to be seen again. Where the Mewtwo had gone was beyond her, but Al suddenly felt much more calmer, less tense. Was that what the presence of a legendary like Mewtwo did to you? Make you so tense and drive your thoughts insane?

Al shook her head. Mewtwo was gone, and so was the doll. They could continue on now. Voltaire still had Pokemon to encounter. He'd paid for twenty encounters, and that was what he was going to get until he said otherwise.

She led the way without a word, glancing back for a moment to make sure he was still following, until they made it back to the stream. Retracing their steps, basically. Now that they were back on track, Aleria followed the stream again, occasionally glancing over to see if a Pokemon had popped out to see who was walking around in their environment.

A splash. Aleria looked over. Nothing. She'd paused to look, but once she saw that nothing was there, she kept following the stream.

Another splash. Pause and look again. Nothing. Aleria frowned this time. Was this some sort of joke? She glanced back at Voltaire, but he didn't seem like he was doing anything besides following her. She shook her head and kept following the stream. Maybe the Mewtwo's presence still had some sort of effect on her, even though it had been gone for a good five minutes, maybe longer.

A third splash. This time, when Aleria paused and looked, there was a brown fish with dark spots on its body. Blue fins contrasted with the brown scales. "A Feebas?" she asked, skeptical that a Pokemon like this would play tricks on her. Didn't matter though, she supposed. A Feebas was a Feebas, and an encounter was an encounter. "Want to try and catch it then?"

As I gave the doll to the Ranger, she gave it to the legendary Pokemon. Mewtwo, upon seeing the doll, took it and fled by teleportation.

    Now, that was weird.

It seems that the Mewtwo is of the snobbish type. Or whatever word it is nearer. It kinda fits; he the most savage Pokemon of all. Why should he be interested in a doll, though...?

And anymore of these thinking will make me take Bachelor of Science in Pokemon Psychology for college.

The weird aura that surrounded the forest is gone. I think I can now think straighter than the previous encounter. Mewtow is a Psychic-type Pokemon, and will surely affect the minds of people and Pokemon nearby.

There is no use staying here and contemplating. And so we go and continue.

As we walk through the forest, we came across the stream. The little river was clean and pure, and one can see the ground under the waters. These bodies of water are not touched by human society, thus the cleanliness.

We went to the riverbanks. By this route, we can encounter more aquatic Pokemon. Personally, I am looking for Fighting-type Pokemon, but I might yet to see greater Pokemon. Who knows?

This stroll is a little kind of fun. It is very serene. The waters are clean. Pokemon surely love to be here.

    But, where are the Pokemon?

I guess waiting is a virtue. Or something like that.

A little later, Ranger Al noticed some splashing of water. I noticed it too.

    It was a Feebas.

"A Feebas?" she asked, "Want to try and catch it then?"

A Feebas is very rare. It is very sought after. People go crazy over it. People would trade for it. Huh, but I want it. Probably for myself. But if I can find someone who could offer a great price, why not?

"I guess I want to catch that one," I said, "Finally!"

    Now, which to use?

I guess I should use Rhode first.

"Go Rhode!" I said, sending out the Roserade.

"Now, when you see the Feebas out of the water, use your Stun Spore attack!"

Knowing Rhode, he would add flair to his attacks. Probably he would jump and spin mid-air, and upon target locked, spray those yellow-orange powder spores for the Feebas to inhale then get paralyze. Or probably he would store up the powders first, then burst it from its flowers and make it form to a desired shape of hearts, spades, whichever he feels. My Roserade can be unpredictable, who knows?

I'll let the Stun Spore seek its target and seep in first. One move at a time

    ((Gender for the ugly fish?))

    BP #6

"I guess I want to catch that one," Voltaire said. "Finally!"

    Finally indeed.

So long it had been since he'd last expressed a desire to catch a Pokemon. The rose Pokemon came back out, still injured from his earlier battle, but considerably more rested. He'd been in his Poke Ball for quite some time, and despite not being back at full health, the Roserade was ready for battle. The fish flailed around in the water, splashing the liquid onto the shore and making the ground wet.

But none of that stopped the Roserade from stepping forward gracefully and doing a little twirl as he approached the river where the Feebas resided. The rose Pokemon shook its blue and pink rose hands, and the yellow-orange spores came out just as desired. The gentle breeze carried them towards the Feebas, but with the ugly fish being in the water, they didn't have much of an effect. But then the Feebas flopped up out of the water for just a split second, and the spores that touched its body made the fish freeze in mid-air and flop back down into the water. It floated to the surface of the water for a moment, frozen in place, and then it dove back into the water and resurfaced. Stun Spore had surprisingly done its job, but there was no telling how it would affect the fish from here on out now that it was back in the water.

Aleria glanced over at Voltaire. He had something going on in that mind of his, Al was sure of it, and whatever his plan was to catch this fish, he'd make it work.

The Feebas was paralyzed from the Stun Spore attack that I made my Roserade do. The problem is that the Feebas is kind of protected from the attacks as long as it is underwater.

I guess it is time for fishing.

"Hey Rhode, use Leech Seed and make it grow on the Feebas. Wait for it to show up above water. Shoot it then!" I said to the Roserade, awaiting orders.

The Leech Seed is like a bomb. It spurts vines on contact. I would make my Roserade entangle the Feebas with the said vines. Then, the vines will connect to the Roserade, allowing contact. Haul in the fish!

"Rhode, Drain a little of the Feebas' energy with the leech vines, but not too much! Sap the health when I told you so," I reminded the Bouquet Pokemon.

Leech Seed's side-effect is to sap and drain the enemy's life force to heal the user. Roserade can control it so that I could conserve the Feebas' energy and not make it faint.

A fail-safe plan must be made.

"After you haul in the Feebas, use Sweet Scent around the place!" I followed up.

The Roserade would twirl around and spin and do dance moves and release a highly fragrant smell to allure the Feebas. That way, the Feebas would think twice to return back to the waters.

I wonder, do Feebas like flowery scents?

And now she was about to see whatever plan he was concocting come to reality.

"Hey Rhode, use Leech Seed and make it grow on the Feebas. Wait for it to show up above water. Shoot it then!" Voltaire told his Grass and Poison type Pokemon. Unfortunately for the fish, it flew out of the water at just the right moment. Roserade launched seeds from its rose hands as soon as he realized there was a fish out of water, and those seeds made contact. As soon as they did, they sprouted and the vines that sprouted from the seed wrapped themselves around the Feebas, and the vines eventually made their way back to Roserade's flower-like hands. Feebas slammed into the Grass and Poison type, and both Pokemon were knocked back; Roserade stumbled backwards and Feebas flew back into the water.

And then the flower's next command came after he regained his composure. "Rhode, Drain a little of the Feebas' energy with the leech vines, but not too much! Sap the health when I told you so," Voltaire commanded. Sapping the health on command? That was a useful strategy. Aleria made note of it. It could be useful in future expeditions into the park, or she could pass it along to her close friends. That was the plus side of coming into the park: you got to learn new strategies from the trainers you took along.

The Roserade followed the command given as the vines took on a bright green color for just a moment. Feebas flailed a bit as she tried to break free from the vines that sapped her energy, but her efforts were useless. The vines wouldn't leave her body at all. Voltaire's final command came after the energy was sapped. "After you haul in the Feebas, use Sweet Scent around the place!"

The flowery Pokemon pulled the Feebas to the the surface of the water, and then he began to spin and twirl around. Pink spores filled the air, and it made Feebas' senses peak. It was suddenly looking around for the source of the beautiful smell, swimming about the surface of the water with her nose poked out of the water. A nice sight, really, and a good plan on Voltaire's part. He hadn't brought any Water types with him, so he had to use his Pokemon, their moves, and his environment to his advantage.

The only con of Sweet Scent? It made Aleria sneeze, and that she did.

Okay, so my plan seems to work fine. The Feebas was in the land. A fish out of water. Paralyzed, tangled and caught by the sweet scent in the air.

I guess this Pokemon needs some leniency... But maybe later.

"Rhode, sap in some more health energy to heal yourself a little. Just a little!" I said to the Bouquet Pokemon. His bouquet of hands were still reeking of the sweet scent that I asked him to do.

The Roserade would wave his bouquet-hands, which have those leech-like hands on them, and control the leech seeds to absorb some more energy from the fishy Pokemon.

    And to the leniency part...

"Now Rhode, use Aromatherapy to cure that Feebas from paralysis," I said to the Roserade.

Isn't it weird that I'm curing the illness of an enemy wherein the sickness came from my doings?

This thing I am doing stems back to Greek myths. Well, not really. There is this river named the "Phlegethon", found in the Underworld. It is made of fire, but it is a river, It warms the souls which can help them in surviivng the torturous place. Prolonging the agony, should I say?

Anyways, the Roserade would wave his hands, just like what he did with the Sweet Scent attack. It is a very relaxing scent, which would heal some illnesses.

I just hope the Ranger is not that allergic to flowery scents.

The Roserade started it off by sapping more energy from the grounded Feebas. She still flailed around, stopping for a good moment or two occasionally from her paralysis, but she was active. Being out of the water wasn't bothering her too much. The Feebas was fine, and that was all that mattered.

So fine, in fact, that she'd pulled back a little and used the vines to fly into Roserade and send the tumbling to the ground. Literally. A slingshot of sorts, if you will. Maybe an attempt to get free, but it had failed. They were still attached at the vines, and both had sustained some damage from the powerful attack.

"Double-Edge," Aleria said as the pair rolled away from each other. The force of the attack sent them tumbling away from each other, the only thing holding them together was a pair of vines attached to Roserade's pink and blue flowery hands. "I think she's trying to get free."

The paralysis made Feebas freeze again, her body involuntarily twitching from it. She was slowed by her paralysis, but the Feebas could still hit hard. Roserade got over his daze from tumbling backwards, and he shook his head before shaking his flowery hands. Aleria thought it was weird that Roserade could be male. Even weirder that Voltaire was helping the paralyzed Feebas. He wanted to catch it, didn't he? Paralyzing it would've been better in the long run for that. Al shrugged. She'd never understand other trainers.

Feebas stopped twitching once the pink spores touched her tan scaled body. A flowery aroma, but it was soothing. This one didn't make Aleria sneeze, that was for sure. It soothed Feebas too, which was nice. Maybe he'd paralyze it again later, but he wanted to give it a fighting chance for now. Aleria wasn't sure. Whatever floated his boat, as long as he didn't cause park damage. Aleria valued her job too much to let that happen.

The leniency part backfired. Sort of. Feebas did a Double-Edge attack. That hurts, very!

Anyways, Feebas is cured of paralysis. Still, the Feebas is entangled due to the Roserade's Leech Seed's vines. That way, there is no risk of the Feebas returning to the river, which would make everything harder.

    Anyways...

"Roserade, before a thing, use Synthesis to make yourself better," I said to the Roserade, "you'll need it later!"

Synthesis. A healing move. Grass-type Pokemon, like Roserade, would utilize the energy rays of the sun to heal their wounds and get re-energized. That way, Rhode would get healed.

    And after that...

"Hey Ranger," I talked to the Ranger Al, "I'd suggest to cover your ears. This one is a sound move."

    And to the Roserade...

"Rhode! Use Grass Whistle! Preferably 'Ode to Joy'!"

Grass Whistle. A sleep-inducing move. And the reason why I asked Ranger Al to cover her ears. It is basically grass music magic, which can make other people sleepy. The Ode to Joy part is because... well I like that piece. I've been making Roserade practice classical pieces when he gets to use the move. In short, that part is basically aesthetic.

And into which I should cover my ears. That would lessen the effect for Ranger Al and for me...

Roserade brought her arms up, the vines drooping from her petaled hands. The sun's rays hit the flowers, and they glowed. For a moment, an unsuspecting trainer or anyone that hadn't heard Voltaire's command would've thought a Solar Beam was about to hit the flailing fish.

    They would be so wrong.

The sun's energy healed some of the damage the Roserade had received thus far throughout its time in the park, even from the battle with the Darumaka that Voltaire caught earlier on in his expedition. It wasn't a full heal, but it was enough to give Roserade some more energy, some more pep in his step. But it was Voltaire's next part of his idea that made Al raise an eyebrow.

Cover her ears? For Grasswhistle? He was going to try and put the Feebas to sleep through classical music. (The piece chosen, Ode to Joy, was one Aleria had heard before. Her parents enjoyed classical music; she, of course, hated it.) Good lord, that would put anyone to sleep. But his strategy was beginning to confuse her. Paralysis, then remove the paralysis, sleep now... would he remove the sleep? Aleria wasn't sure.

She covered her ears though. A useless ranger she'd be if she ended up falling asleep on the job, the one she'd lose if she got busted for falling asleep too. Tightly enough to hear no sound at all, she watched Voltaire's lips form the words for the command, and then his ears were covered too. Al watched the Roserade's mouth move, though she thankfully heard no noise. Her eyes moved to the flailing brown fish. Feebas made a leap, her eyes closing and opening as if she was fighting the sleep that was upon her. She made it halfway towards her Grass and Poison typed target before flopping back down on the ground. Sleep had overcome her.

Roserade would take no more damage... for now. And with the song over, Aleria could uncover her ears, which was a nice touch.

    Hmm.

The Feebas is now asleep. That gives me a good time to set up some ideas.

I should stabilize Roserade's position first.

"Rhode, use Ingrain to hold yourself to the ground," I said to the Roserade not too loudly so that the Feebas won't be disturbed.

After the command, the Roserade raised his arms. Then it glowed as it absorbs the sunny rays to prepare for Ingrain. Rhode then fixed his postured and planted (no pun intended) his feet into the ground. Then roots started to sprout, wriggling like vines and clinging to the ground. The roots then glowed as it took the nutrients from the ground. This moves is great for stabilization and for recovery too.

Now that Rhode has enough nutrients...

"Rhode, use Growth to power up!" I said. Again, softly.

From the nutrients he got from the soil (I'm sure that's nutritious because of the riverbank soil.), he will repair his damages and fortify his well-being. The Roserade will be charged up with new energy, but not too much for the Feebas.

And now, we wait for the Feebas...
