I had been cleaning my office since this morning. Everyone might say that it was boring, but at least it could burn the time off. Also, finding forgotten stuff in the midst of the junk could be fun... or is it just me. Anyway, I was surprised to see a folder on my desk. I remember it being empty and all, but somehow, it just popped in.

Manectric came in with a cookie on his mouth. Perhaps someone decided to come in and give it to him. Maybe it was just a staff member or something, so I shrugged and continued with the cleaning of the shelves.

As I was going back, a sharp bark from Manectric attracted my attention. He took the folder with his mouth, and brought the files to me. Of course, I took the folder from him as anyone would do.

"The name is Andy... Meeting at 9:00 am... going to Mt. Deckbi with only a..." I recited as I read. There was something bothering me about his choice of Pokemon. "Nidoran?" I continued. Mt. Deckbi houses a lot of Ground-type Pokemon. I would just wish that he would be able to encounter Fire-types mostly.

Looking at my watch, I still got thirty minutes before the meeting time. With the remaining time, I prepared myself through the journey such as cleaning myself, checking my Pokemon as well as the items I need to bring. As I finished, I waited at the Ranger Base's entrance for Andy's arrival.

Andy woke up very early. He jumped out of bed and looked at his Pokemon, Nidoran M.
"Allright, Hornsly, you ready? We have an appointment at the National Park to go up to Mount Deckbi!"
"Nido? Ran?"
"Yeah, that's right. We're gonna go add some members to our team, so you can have some buddies!"
"Nidoran!"

~Later on, at the Ranger Base~
"Me and Hornsly ran as fast as we could! Are you ready to take me through Mt. Deckbi?" asked Andy.

Manectric sat beside me as we waited for Andy. Sitting at a bench in front of the Ranger Base would give us a good view of the people coming in and out of the harbor. Within a minute, a boat carrying Trainers arrived. And now, all I need to do is wait for him to reach this place.

It didn't took long before I saw a boy running beside a male Nidoran. "Must be Andy," I told Manectric. I'm surprised that the trainer I'm about to accompany was about my age. It's like, this is the first time ever.

"Me and Hornsly ran as fast as we could! Are you ready to take me through Mt. Deckbi?" Andy said as he arrived.

I feel like I'll never feel shy when I'm around people on my age-group. Although his words, "Are you ready to take me through Mt. Deckbi?", felt awkward, I think I'll be able to complete this expedition safely. I mean, is he thinking that Rangers aren't always ready?

"Hi!" I greeted. "Let's get started, shall we?"

I signaled Andy to follow me as I went towards the building's side. In it parked several vehicles used by other Rangers. Unfortunately, I'm still too young that I can't take a driver's exam, meaning I can't have a driving license. If I want to get home early, I'll need to "borrow" a jeep.

I took the driver's seat and waited for Andy to ride. Manectric got on the back seat as he got excited for the ride. As he got into the seat, I began driving fast. I need to make sure I get there as soon as possible.

After about thirty minutes of travel, we arrived at the destination; Mt. Deckbi. I got off the vehicle and exclaimed, "Welcome to Mt. Deckbi." Looking around the place, I saw a Sandshrew munching on a berry. "Want that?" I asked pointing at the Pokemon.

Nidoran ran over by the Sandshrew and started kicking it. I was worried that the Sandshrew might land a supereffective attack on Hornsly, but I knew Hornsly could weaken it enough to catch it. Or could it...

"Why not?" Andy answered to my question. Looking back to his Nidoran, he said, "Hornsly, though it may have super-effective moves that it can hit you with, I know you can take it down! Get over there and land a Double Kick!"

"Ran!" Hornsly cried as he heard his trainer's orders. He charged towards the eating Sandshrew with a serious glare. As he was about to reach the yellow mouse Pokemon, he extended his right foot and jump-kicked its way to Sandshrew.

Unfortunately, Sandshrew felt Hornsly's footsteps from afar and easily detected him. As usual, it burrowed underground to avoid the attack. The moment its tail's tip was unseen was the moment Hornsly's kick flew above the hole Sandshrew had dug. With its sharp claws, it's easy to dig underneath the earth and pop out unexpectedly.

Hornsly went all the way until it crashed on the ground. Sand flew around him as he landed miserably on the desert ground. He turned his head left and right until he saw Sandshrew's hole. The Nidoran pricked its ears, trying to find sounds of Sandshrew's steps underneath him.

"Oh, shucks," I said. "It's probably gone... Oh, wait! It's still underground. Be careful of its sudden attack!"

OOC: Okay. Wasn't sure how good of RP I had to have.

"Hornsly! The Sandshrew is going to pop up any minute! Keep running back and forth to lower the Dig's accuracy!" I yelled.
"Needo...ran?" Hornsly said skeptically.
"Just trust me on this one! It may still hit you, but it will have a lower chance of actually getting you!" I shouted, "Then use a Double Kick when it comes back up!"
"Needoran!" Hornsly called back happily because it had a plan.
I watched, waiting to tell Hornsly to jump up away from the Dig attack. He waited for the small rumbling in the ground...
"Hornsly! It's coming up right over there!" I pointed to where Hornsly was standing, "Get out of the way! Then use a Double Kick!"
Hornsly jumped to get out of the way...

Andy ordered his Nidoran to keep running in order to lessen Sandshrew's ablity to pinpoint Hornsly's location. It seems a good idea, only until you think of Sandshrew's speed underground. Most Ground-type Pokemon move faster underground than on land. Andy may either underestimated Sandshrew's capabilities or overestimated Hornsly's skills.

The sand underneath Hornsly began to shake. Small pebbles were rolling away from the Nidoran's feet. Seeing Sandshrew's location underneath him, Hornsly jumped back and waited for Sandshrew's possible attack, but there was none. So... that attack could just be a feint.

Sandshrew popped up behind the purple rabbit and released a flurry of scratches. Its left and right claws were flung to it's enemy continuously as if it doesn't want to make it's victim run away. On its surprise, Hornsly struggled in the scratches and suddenly kicked the mouse on its stomach. It may have rebounded away, but looking at its ability to stand up quickly reveals that it hadn't took much damage.

I watched, as Sandshrew scratched my precious Hornsly's back... I never knew that Sandshrew could be so fast underground... Oh well, I trust in Hornsly, and I know he can't be beat by a mouse!
"Ugh. Never knew a little mouse could be so fast," I said disgustedly. "But I know, somehow, that Hornsly can weaken that sandy mouse enough for me to capture it! Hornsly, use Horn Drill nonstop! It has to hit eventually!"
"Nido..." Hornsly said, sounding somewhat discouraged.
"Hornsly, I know you can do it! Don't be so hard on yourself!" I yelled, trying to boost Hornsly's morale, "Just get over there and do what you like doing best: battling!"
"NIDORAN!" Hornsly almost flew at the Sandshrew, overflown with battle spirit. Hornsly looked like his Horn Drill was going to hit with perfect accuracy... but you never know, with a wild pokemon...

OOC: I can't access PE2K on my computer. Blocked because of games. I can get there on the family's main computer, though. I'll check it out later.

 

BP

Looks like Andy had ordered his Nidoran to use rapid-fired Horn Drills. Horn Drill is a powerful move, but it takes lots of effort to perform them, especially when used consecutively. I just hope Hornsly's young body could support the energy required by Horn Drill.

Hornsly's horn began spinning wildly until it reached it's maximum speed. As it finished, the male Nidoran began charging the Sandshrew at full speed, with its horn spearheading the whole of him. At full speed, he had been running like a Tauros charging at its enemy.

Sandshrew, however, faced its enemy calmly and simply dodged the Horn Drill gracefully and curled up into a ball. As a ball, Sandshrew rolled around the sand and began to turn towards Hornsly's location.

Hornsly held his spinning horn in Sandshrew and charged straight towards it. Both attacks, Rollout and Horn Drill, clashed together, ending up both as tie. Sandshrew rolled backwards, but Hornsly rebounded farther. It may look like he's down, but he managed to stand up again.

Looking at Sandshrew, I saw it coming back to Nidoran, but at a faster speed.

"Hornsly, watch out! The Sandshrew is coming full force right toward you!" I yelled, as I watched the Sandshrew barrel right toward my Pokemon. "When it gets really close, jump to the side and use Leer on it!"
I watched... as the Sandshrew rolled closer... and closer...

*Inside Andy's thoughts* (I really hope Hornsly can pull off that combination... if he doesn't, that will really weaken him... but if he does manage to pull it off, Sandshrew will be weakened... oh well. I know Hornsly can do it!)

Sandshrew was just about 10 feet away from Hornsly now.
"HORNSLY! JUMP TO THE SIDE! NOW!!!!!" I screamed, "THEN USE LEER!!!"
Sandshrew was almost hitting Hornsly, but then Hornsly started to jump aside...

 

BP

Andy ordered his Nidoran to jump, dodge and use Leer. It might give Hornsly the upper hand if Andy got Leer's timing better. With Sandshrew rolling around with its face covered, it would need a miracle to make eye contact with it.

Sandshrew began to roll faster and faster when it was accelerating towards Hornsly. Luckily, the Nidoran managed to jump out of the way, only getting a scrape from the attack. It made a glare at the shrew, but it seemed to be ineffective as I predicted.

Sandshrew's momentum of Rollout had ended as the mouse came to a halt as it missed Hornsly. That was a lucky break for Andy, cause a full-powered Rollout could deal monstrous damage to a Pokemon.

"All right!" Andy yelled happily that the Rollout had ended, "Hornsly, the Rollout ended! If it hit you at full force, it would do a ton of damage to you!"
"Nidoran!" Hornsly yelled happily. He almost started to forget about the Sandshrew, but then he remembered and stared at it, daring it to move.
"Hornsly, use another Leer while the Sandshrew is standing still! Maybe you'll get a good Leer onto it!" Andy commanded Hornsly.
"Nido!" Hornsly exclaimed as he started to Leer at the Sandshrew.

OOC: Sorry if it's not very descriptive. I'm working on another story and I couldn't think of much else to say.

Nidoran used Leer at Sandshrew, glaring finally eye-to-eye. With half a second passing by, the Ground-type suddenly shook his body and felt probably a little scared at the Nidoran. It's quite obvious because of its tail trembling frequently since Nidoran stared at it.

Though still scared, Sandshrew ran towards with its claws glowing green. A slash from it's claws down to Hornsly's face was made from the attack. Fortunately, it seems as it hadn't affected much on Hornsly. The thought faded as another slash was made, but bringing more damage to the Nidoran. Sandshrew's using Fury Cutter!

Hornsly backed away from Sandshrew and waited for more orders from his trainer.

(Oh, no, it's using Fury Cutter. Better not let the Sandshrew hit Hornsly too many times... I know! I'll have Hornsly jump to the side when Sandshrew tries to hit him next, then have Hornsly Double Kick Sandshrew's side! Though I don't see how it can be this easy...)
"Hornsly, it's using Fury Cutter! Make sure it doesn't hit you!" Andy yelled to Hornsly, "When it tries to slash you again, jump to the side and use Double Kick on Sandshrew's side!"
"Nidoran!" Hornsly called back. He then followed orders, and when the Sandshrew tried to slash him again he jumped...
(With the Leer put on Sandshrew, Double kick, if it hits, should do more damage than usual. If it hits...)

Sandshrew's hand slashed on Hornsly before the Nidoran could react from his trainer's command. Without further ado, Hornsly attacked as soon as Sandshrew finished his attack, kicking twice on the shrew's side. The attack threw Sandshrew away for a few blocks, but still managed o stand up.

Meanwhile, Sandshrew's claws grew in a brighter green than before. A stronger Fury Cutter was about to be slashed to Hornsly again. With only a couple of hits before the attack reaches its full power, Andy is definitely in trouble.

"Hornsly! The Fury Cutter is getting stronger and stronger! Jump out of the way! NOW!" Andy urgently yelled to Hornsly, who was still wincing from the pain of the last cut. "If it hits you... you're going to hurt really badly!"
"Needo? RAN!!!" Hornsly yelled, "NIDORAN!"
"Allright, though it might take out some energy from you, keep jumping around, and make sure that the Sandshrew doesn't hit you!" Andy called to Hornsly, "Eventually the Fury Cutter will end, then you have to go up to it really quickly and Double Kick it again!"
"Ran!" Hornsly said as it started to jump around, getting ready for the Sandshrew to use another Fury Cutter.

Hornsly began jumping around as he heard Andy's orders. For every slash Sandshrew made, Hornsly hopped sidewards to avoid them. When the continuous slashes stopped on the fifth, the Nidoran jumped as high as he could and kicked the shrew from above.

Seeing that its enemy would be attacking from above, Sandshrew spun around and accumulated sand from the surroundings, forming a large tornado of sand with it as the base. The sand lingered in the air as Hornsly had hit the shrew.

I pulled an umbrella from my shoulder bag and opened it. At least it would protect us from some of the sand flying from the sky. Making Manectric use Rain Dance would meant interfering with the battle. Meh, I'll just use that afterwards.

"Hornsly, there's a Sandstorm going! Make sure you close your eyes!" Andy yelled urgently to Hornsly.
"Nidoran!" Hornsly said as he closed his eyes. "Ran Nido?"
"What you should do next? Get away from the Sandshrew, to confuse it as to where you are. Then, jump above it to make it think you're Double Kicking it again from the top, but dodge whatever it attacks you with and Double Kick it from the side!" Andy said, thinking that his strategy should work. Hornsly obeyed, jumping into the tornado of sand, above Sandshrew, making it think that it was going to kick it from above, but then started dodging Sandshrew and kicked toward it's side...

OOC: Ok. But I can't get too far into the attack, because that would decide what happens. That's your job.

Seeing that Hornsly is doing the same dodge-then-attack tactics again, Sandshrew continued to make a sandy twister around him. The bad thing is, the Sandstorm's spinning faster and faster, thus making a stronger attack.

Hornsly attempted to make a side kick at the Sandshrew's side. Unfortunately, the moment his foot had struck the vortex, he rebounded back due to its force. He managed to weaken it, however how strong Sandshrew is.

(Hmm... Hornsly's Double Kick combo didn't work. Maybe it's time to take the Sandshrew off guard...) Andy thought to himself, wondering what another good combo would be. (I know! I'll catch Sandshrew off guard by telling Hornsly to start doing his Double Kick combo... but then use a Poison Sting to strike through the Sandstorm!)
"Hornsly! The Sandshrew seems to think it knows all your combos, but I know one that can catch you off guard! Start off with dodging Sandshrew, but don't use Double Kick! Use Poison Sting instead, because it will cut through the Sandstorm and hit the Sandshrew! It might even poison the Sandshrew so that it will be easier to capture!" Andy called to Hornsly, happy that he thought of a good strategy.
"Needoooo!" Hornsly cried as he followed through, dodging Sandshrew then starting to fire off a Poison Sting...
