James didn't bother to talk as he got his camera on his bag again and decided to take another picture of a Pokemon, Registeel. "Neat, that's already a total of $3,500." Alpha clapped his hands in amusement. Suddenly, he heard a small quake in the ground. Something was rolling on the ground towards James.

"Voltorb," the Pokemon cried.

"A Voltorb, what are you going to do now?" Alpha asked James.

I snapped the picture of the motionless Registeel and we continued walking once more. "Neat, that's already a total of 3500," Alpha said, clapping his hands.

"Yeah, that's really cool. Especially because I wanted the pictures more than the actual money," I said with a grin.

"Voltorb," something said, interrupting our conversation. I looked down to see an upside-down Pokeball, or rather, a Voltorb rolling on into the room. "Oh, Voltorb are really fast Pokemon, something I like to have on my team. But, unfortunately, I already have an Electrode who I adore. Sorry. I will however by a Pokedoll to give this cool little dude something to play with," I said, handingAalpha the 500 pokedollars.

OOC: Sorry for the delays. You know the reason. XP

IC:

"Yeah, that's really cool. Especially because I wanted the pictures more than the actual money," James answered.

"A future photographer, eh?" Alpha joked.

"Oh, Voltorb are really fast Pokemon, something I like to have on my team. But, unfortunately, I already have an Electrode who I adore. Sorry. I will however by a Pokedoll to give this cool little dude something to play with." James stretched out his hand and gave Alpha some cash for him to buy a Pokedoll back at the ranger outpost. It was a good thing because Alpha knew something like this would happen.

"Just what I had in mind." Alpha grabbed hold of his brown back and took out a leather wallet and a small pink Pokedoll that was shaped like a Clefairy. He placed the money inside his wallet and gave the Voltorb the doll. He wondered how Voltorb would make good use of it, considering that it doesn't have any hands to play with the doll.

Afterwards, Alpha escorted James outside of the control room and back into the hallways. They quickly made a right turn at the nearest door to their right until they entered an open place. The roof felt like it was ripped off by massive storms or tornadoes. The skies was covered with black thunderclouds. In front of them was another rare sight, like the Registeel they encountered. A yellow dog-like Pokemon stood still in the middle of the room, its black stripes seemed to blend with the darkness of the thunderclouds.

"Raikou, a legendary Pokemon." Alpha's jaw dropped in amusement.

After the Voltorb joyously took the Clefairy doll we left the control room and headed into the narrow hallways. We walked along before we were forced to take a sharp right hand turn. What I saw made my jaw drop a little. The ceiling was torn open as though hundreds of wild animals stampeded through and the place looked just as bad. Dark thunderclouds loomed manacingly overhead and I gulped. Just ahead a fierce-looking tiger Pokemon stood, his chest sticking out proudly.

"Wow," I breated, whipping out my camera. Rarely do you see such a magnificent sight. I poised it carefully and snapped a picture before stowing away the camera. These pictures sure would amaze people back home.

Alpha knew James was amazed because he had his mouth open as he got his camera once more and took a picture of Raikou. "Kou!" the dog roared its name to the heavens and the thunderclouds suddenly faded away. Raikou leaped away from the room and avoided Alpha and James, because he took a photo of Raikou.

"Shinx!" a Pokemon with a blue body came out of nowhere and entered the roofless room. Sparks came out from its fur and its eyes gazed at James angrily.

"Another wild Shinx." Alpha looked at James.

"Shinx!" a furry lionclub barked as it charged into the roofless room. It's fur was standing on end and it had an angry look to it. It coninued barking so I tried ignoring it.

"Let's just try and move on," I said. "Like I said before, I have a Luxray and don't have any interest in getting another one for now. Oh, and if you don't mind, I'd like to head to the older areas. I heard more powerful Pokemon live there.

"Let's just try and move on," James looked at Alpha with a disgraced look. "Like I said before, I have a Luxray and don't have any interest in getting another one for now. Oh, and if you don't mind, I'd like to head to the older areas. I heard more powerful Pokemon live there." Alpha nodded silently and showed James outside of the vicious corridors of the Power Plant that contained nothing but more legends.

They made their way down a broken escalator, one that was not working, until they came into a large place filled with purple ooze. "We were here earlier, and that's the exit." Alpha pointed to a half-opened door that lead to the grassy paths outside of the power plant.

The silence was creeping inside the building when the sound of electric sparks buzzed behind Alpha and James. "What was that?" Alpha quickly checked the surroundings. He walked briskly towards the other side of the room, the one behind the escalator they just passed. The buzzing noises continued until it grew louder and louder. "Come on, James." Alpha made a hand gesture to James that was meant to tell him to follow him.

Behind the escalator was a door that lead to another empty room, but inside the room was a small passage to the right that could lead them deeper into the power plant.

"Kid," a voice came from the passage, which was soon followed with the electric buzzes. It was a small yellow Pokemon with its plug-like horns on its head. The Elekid was smiling at the persons he met as Alpha looked at James.

"Care to battle this one?" Alpha asked.

We began to walk away and thankfully the Shinx didn't want to follow us. There was purple junk all over the floor and I got a vague remembering feeling. "We were here before," I said. We heard a buzzing sound as we walked by the escalator and one of the emergency exits. "Come on, James," Alpha said as we walked past the escalator and squeezed through an-almost hidden doorway. We walked along the passage for a few minutes until a heard an odd somewhat-familiar call.

"Kid," an Elekid said, stepping out of the shadows. I gave it a smile. This evolved into one of my favourite Pokemon, Electivire, but I already had a powerful Electivire. "Can we keep going?" I asked, eager to see bigger and better Pokemon.

"Can we keep going?"

"As you wish," Alpha quickly replied and escorted James towards the small passage besides the Elekid, who was continuously creating small sparks on its plug-like horns. The light was fading away slowly as they walked deeper inside the power plant. The clacking of Alpha's shoes because of the tiles started to fade away as well, turning into new sounds--sounds of stepping in soil.

They were on a small cave-like place inside the power plant. Because it was abandonded years ago, some parts of it somehow merged with the earth itself, until it formed a small cave inside the power plant.

"Awkward," Alpha said to himself, looking at the torches placed on the walls. It was weird because the torches looked like they were actually placed on the walls.

"Magneton." The strange silence was broken when a Pokemon made of three steel balls with magnets on the sides encountered them. Alpha looked at James silently.

We continued walking, leaving the Eekid to it's own devices. I watched in awe as it messed with it's plug-like ear-pieces. It was such a cool Pokemon, I thought to myself. As we continued on, the land grew more and more... rockier? That was strange. But, even stranger, we came to a cave made of the lab and it was also as though it was made of natural substances. Torches hung from brackets along the walla which was really weird.

"Ton, ton!" something screeched. I looked around to see three Magnemite's together... or was it a Magneton. Either way, I wasn't overly interested as I had a Magnezone already. "Let's move on into this odd cave," I said, looking ahead into the darkness.

"Let's move on into this odd cave," James answered quickly.

Alpha made a sharp turn to the right as they avoided Magneton, eventually they were out of the cave in a single instant. They were in a room filled with office things and gadgets. There were tables that contained broken computers and keyboards, and below the table was the CPU of the computer. There was a small pot that contained withered flowers on one edge of the room.

"This is a freaky place, huh?" Alpha turned his head to talk to James. There was one flourescent bulb that had its light flickering on and off repeatedly.

"Voltorb," a squeaky voice came out from one of the tables. It rolled towards Alpha's feet.

"Another one?" Alpha sighed in disappointment.

We made a sharp right as we passed the Magneton and saw the cave exit immediate;y. When we left the cave, we found out that we were back in the building; in a cantine sort of place. There were rows of desks and chairs and books scattered everywhere. There was a computer before us; aged as the years passed it by. The CPU was lying on it's side, unmoving and forlorn. It was quite a depressing place to be.

"Voltorb," something piped up. I turned around to see a lone Voltorb roll out from under the desks. It had a twinkle in it's eye which I couldn't help but stare at. "Let's continue on," I said. "This place is giving me the creeps," I added with a shudder.

Ranger Chainy

OOC: Syn, do you have any Voice Disks active atm? Also, is this character your Ranger, or a different person entirely? Lastly, sorry for the short post, but it was very late when I wrote this >_>

I walked briskly through the plant, looking for the Ranger who was active here. He was wanted back at base by Boss-sama - I hadn't dared ask why. I never did, I just followed orders, even though I was an Elite Ranger. I didn't like being addressed as an Elite, though - I preferred to just be another one of the guys.

I turned a corner and found the pair walking through a door. I chased to catch up, passing a Voltorb that was slowly rolling in the opposite direction as I did so. The walk was more tiring that I'd care to admit, so I simply waved at the Ranger and passed him the orders requesting his return to HQ. He nodded, and walked around a corner.

"Alright, let's continue this expedition," I said to the Trainer. "My name is James Carter, but my friends call me Chainy. I won't go into why - it's a long, unpleasant story. Ready to move on?"

OOC: Nope, no voice disks for now. Yep, the sane Jay from some of my stories and the ranger. And, it's fine; I know how awkward time zones can be XD.

IC:

"Torb," the Pokeball-like Pokemon grunted as we ignored it. I saw from the corner of my eye the cool little Pokemon roll away dejectedly and felt a pang of guilt. If only I ha brought my good friend, Electrode, with me. I'm sure they would have gottten along well.

"Shall we continue?" I asked Alpha. He nodded and so we continued past the rows of benches in the cantine. We came up by the kitchen area and I noticed some pieces of wood just strewn around the place, It looked as though a barstool had been broken. I heard an odd, repititive dripping sound and spun around to see droplets of murky water dripping from the sink onto the ground below. The simplicity. An perfection of the timing was pretty cool and I think both of us were lost in thought for a few seconds. The rhytmical beating of the water was eventually cut across by a voice.

A man-- someone I had seen a few times in the Ranger's Outpost was there. I didn't know him all that well but he was a recent-edition to the Elite Rangers. I was wondering what he was doing here; hopefully nothing bad had happened bak at base. He stepped up to Alpha and muttered something in his ear. There was an awkward silence before Alpha said some quick farewells before darting off and I le my attention fall on the Ranger-- Chaines or Chainy or something. Yeah, he was called something like that...

"Alright, let's continue this expedition," he said. "My name is James Carter, but my friends call me Chainy. I won't go into why - it's a long, unpleasant story. Ready to move on?"

"Eh, sure," I said with a smile.

I knew he was called something like that. But, I wonder why he was so secretive about his nickname's origin. I would have to do some snooping later on. Perhaps he had some chain-related fetish or being tied up. Unusual, to say the least.

Ranger Chainy

"Eh, sure," the guy said.

We continued on down the hallway. I decided I should probably look at my Trainer's file, so I opened it up on my PDA. First name was James, good name.Fairly standard Pokemon, except the Porygon-Z was noteworthy, and not many Trainers brought Bronzong to the Abandoned Power Plant.

I looked at James out of the corner of my eye. Something seemed familiar about him, like I'd met him or at least seen him before, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"I'm sorry, this is killing me. Have we met before?" I asked him.

Just before he could answer, a large, mostly-silver Pokemon descended from the ceiling. It was quite large, and an electric field crackled around it threateningly. I took a step back - Magnezone could pack a wallop if they wanted to. I'd seen one blow out a concrete wall with Zap Cannon once.

"Feel like catching a Magnezone?" I asked James. Somehow, I knew the answer already.

As we walked on, listening to the random sounds coming from the older part of the building, I saw my ranger whip out a portfolio. I knew it was mine and I saw him crack a smile at something. He looked as though he had something he wante to say. Just as we rounded a corner, he spoke.

"I'm sorry, this is killing me. Have we met before?" he asked.

"Yeah, I thi-" I started but a roaring of static interrupted me and I spun around to see a huge Magneonze floating towards us. Multicoloured sparks showered off of the beast. I whipped out my camera and smiled. Hopefully my Magnezone at home would apprecita this picture, I thought snapping a quick picture of the levitating beast.

"Zone," it gushed modestly.

James was just about to respond when he was stopped by the Magnezone. He immediately pulled out his camera and took a picture of the hovering leviathan. I knew that you could sell pictures to the PR department back at HQ - sometimes, if they were lucky, Trainers could pay their entire entry fees on the money they made from pictures.

The Magnezone beeped happily and hovered away through an air duct in the side wall. Well, it was once an air duct. Now it was just a huge hole.

We continued on, but I wasn't brave enough to ask James a second time. I knew if I just waited a bit, I would eventually click on who he was. It was just a little embarrassing in the mean-time. I thought that James was about to tell me when we turned a corner and saw a Magnemite. It was playing with an EXIT sign, zapping it with electricity to make it light up.

"Want to try catching a Magnemite, then?" I asked James.

As soon as I snapped the picture and was putting the camera back in my pocket, I heard the beeping sound one final time before seeing the edge of Magnezone as he drifted into an open air vent. I gave a smile and we continued to walk. I hesitated for a second. Perhaps I should reveal my identity to this ranger. It would seem rude to ignore him, so why not.

"To answer your question earlier, I've seen you around too; in the park lounge maybe? And, I also run Vermilion Gym way off in Kanto and I use to be in charge of the Electric Dojo."

I heard another beep; a more high-pitched one, as soon as I had stopped speaking. I saw a cute little Magnemite zapping at an EXIT sign, giggling as it glowed and faded.

"How cute," I said. "Do you know what? I think I'll try and catch this. I think the best Pokemon to try would be Jolteon," I said hurling Jolteon's Pokeball into the air. There was a flash of a brilliant red light coming from the Pokeball and then my yellow furry puppy appeared. He gave a quick yap of happiness; glad to be out of the Pokeball and able to stretch his legs again. "We're going to be battling that cute little Magnemite over there," I said as I pointed at the one-eyed magnet Pokemon. It gave me a blink-- or was it a wink, and skirted forwards. It's large eye zoomed in and out of focus as it examined the pair of us.

"Mite, mite," it gurgled happily. Jolteon charged up to the Magnemite and began to lick it over an over again until it was dripping with wet slime. Ah, Jolteon was a really determined and a highly-skilled battler on one hand; yet he was still a puppy and loved to play with other Pokemon. Especially Electric types for some reason.

"Start with a Thunder Wave attack! But, be careful as we don't want to really hurt this little magnet!" I commanded and watched as my little puppy started to glow and fire off a weak blast of electricity. I watched as the blue sparks shot through the air and headed straight for the approaching Magnemite. Before I could see if he was struck by the Thunder Wave attack and paralysed, I decided to send the next move. There wasn't a whole lot of moves that Jolteon could actually do. He couldn't do Take Down, Shadow Ball, Hidden Power or any Electric move because they wouldn't be that powerful seeing as how Magnemite resists those attacks. Still, our best bet was to try and use a powerful Electric type attack seeing as how strong Jolteon could be.

"Okay, listen up, Jolteon. First things first, I want you to summon rainy weather with your Rain Dance and then I want you to follow that up with a powerful Thunder attack, got it?" It mightn't have seemed like the smartest of moves to do a that time, but as I walked into the room, I had noticed the one large hole in the ceiling; presumably damaged by the inhabitants or eroded over such a long time. Jolteon began to shake his body and perform intricate moves, with eyes an closed and all. It was really weird how some Pokemon had the power to alter even the weather; especially the ones renowned for it like Kyogre and Groudon. I heard a crackle of thunder overhead and the room lit up a a flash of lightning shot by overhead. The room as a whole had grown much darker as heavy, rain-ridden clouds began to clot up the sky. Then, came the sound of rain, light at first but would eventually become a torrent if things worked out as planned...

"How cute. Do you know what? I think I'll try and catch this. I think the best Pokemon to try would be Jolteon," James said as he threw a Poke Ball into the air. A bright flash of red temporarily obscured my vision, and when my sight cleared I saw a Jolteon standing at attention next to its Trainer. I recalled its name was Hairdo - apparently James had a sense of humour. At least I knew where I had seen him before - I'd never been to Kanto, but I must have seen him knocking around the Ranger lounges. I didn't know how he had the time to be a Gym Leader AND a Ranger - perhaps he alternated weeks, or spent his holidays here, or something.

"We're going to be battling that cute little Magnemite over there," James said to Hairdo, pointing to the hovering Steel type.

The Magnemite moved a bit closer, beeping curiously. Hairdo took the opportunity to enthusiastically greet his fellow Electric type, covering it in drool. The Magnemite took it for a while, but then backed off, preparing to battle.

"Start with a Thunder Wave attack! But, be careful as we don't want to really hurt this little magnet! Then, I want you to summon rainy weather with your Rain Dance and then I want you to follow that up with a powerful Thunder attack, got it?" James asked.

Hairdo barked, and blue waves of electricity spread towards the Magnemite. They crawled all over the Magnemite's steel body, paralyzing it. The Magnemite shuddered a little bit, but small silver energy balls began rotating around its body. As they turned and grew, the Jolteon barked again, except this bark was more authoritarian, and aimed at a huge hole in the ceiling. Immediately I heard a thunder-crack, and dark storm-clouds started to cover the sky. I could hear the rain approaching from over the roof of the complex, and light rainfall began to patter through the hole.

I looked over to the Magnemite - it launched the silver orbs towards Hairdo. Acting instinctively, Harido jumped to the right, but the Magnemite's pupil followed it and the silver orbs changed course. They arranged themselves in a circle around the Jolteon, and then promptly exploded. I was blinded for the second time in as many minutes.

I was just about to check on the Jolteon's health with my Aura Reader when I heard it howl. Another thunder-crack echoed throughout the room, and a bolt of lightning smashed down into the already-paralyzed Magnemite. The force of the attack actually pushed the Magnemite down into the concrete floor.

The Magnemite wasn't stupid. It floated back up into the air, and began firing small bolts of electricity up at the clouds. For some reason, the clouds began turning from dark blue to light grey, and shafts of sunlight began to poke through. The rain had left as soon as it had begun.

"Mite," Magnemite said as it surged forward, several metalic orbs encircling the little Magnemite. They circled around it-- in perfect timing until they all joined as one and dispersed, shooting towards my Jolteon. Jolteon skidded off to one side, but the balls followed in perfect timing. I watched Magnemite's pupil turn to follow Jolteon and then the orbs spun that way and tailed Jolteon, before crashing into him. Hmm, seems this Magnemite posessed either Psychic powers or.. it had done something I had been training my Electric types to do for such a long time; master their electricity and the do the seemingly-impossible.

There was a crack above from the thunder-ridden sky and in a harsh flash of light, a thunderbolt shot through from the darkened sky, illuminating the shocked expression on the Magnemite's calculated face. It dove to one side, I wasn't even sure which way the Magnemite jumped-- in fact, neither was it. I was guessing the light disorientated the Magnemite. Excellent, this could work to our advantage. The Magnemite twitched as momentary paralysis overcame it but it looked right a rain a few seconds later. Oh, yes, another horrible pun, I thought to myself. Thankfully, nobody had heard that. Magnemite wasn't done yet though, three orbs rematerialised-- were they the same three orbs as before? They all had the familiar metallic grey colour and seemed to spark with electricity. They rose up slowly into the sky and seemed to dissolve.

"What the heck?" I said slowly.

The sky seemed to grow brighter once more and the sky was then light again. The rays of the newly-appeared sun shone down on the Magnemite directly, and on all of us but to a lesser extent.

"This Magnemite sure is a smart cookie," I mused. "Okay, Jolteon, this may seem weird and all. But, promise me you'll try and do it?" I said. "I know you can.."

"Jolt," Jolteon barked in affirmation.

"Here's my thinking. Magnemite works on a series of electricity-- charged by the magnetic currents in it's system. So, you can use your own electrical energy to draw it closer. This works similar to it's own Magnet Pull ability. Jolteon, start charging the electricity now!"

Jolteon began to send off sparks as he began to charge up his power. He was sending out electrical currents as we spoke. Hopefully this would drag the helpless Magnemite in and then we could send it flying with a Reflect attack. The purpose of Reflect was to create an invisible wall that blocked physical attacks and tend to reduce their power. But this could be our best bet, if I wasn't mistaken.

"Reflect when it comes close to send it flying," I concluded.
