NBP #4

Aleria raised an eyebrow as James snapped a picture of the electric mouse, who struck a pose just for the picture. If she had to guess the nature of the Raichu, Sassy probably would have been a good guess. But it too fled with its long tail between its legs, metaphorically of course, because Aleria wasn't quite sure how Raichu would be able to run if its tail was quite literally between its legs. The bodily proportions just weren't correct for that sort of thing.

They walked into the room that Raichu had just come out of, and there was thankfully enough light from the electronics that barely worked that they could see. Al looked around, searching for another Pokemon, maybe one that had spooked the Raichu and made it run out of this room. It did look a little scared, now that Aleria thought about it. The computer screen flickered for just a moment, and Aleria's eyes darted to it. By the time she was able to focus on it, the screen had gone dim.

Shit was creepy, man. Real creepy. There was some crackling, and when Aleria's eyes focused on the source of the crackling, she let out a quiet "oh." It was just a Rotom. They were known for possessing electrical appliances. It was just how they were. Creepy? Yes, but that didn't keep Rotom from being such a good Pokemon. The orange body surrounded by blue electricity had its pros and its cons, but the fact that it could change forms and types made it pretty useful, especially depending on which form you chose. "Do you want a Rotom? If not, you can snap a picture of it unless you think people that collect Rotom pictures are creepy too."

Raichu gave an incredible pose and I couldn't help but cringe a little as I snapped the picture. It was so perfect. Then, forsome reason, my new model Pokemon seemed to become a little scared and she darted away without any warning. It was definitely unexpected, until I looked at a nearby flickering monitor. I recognised the face inside of it all too well.

"Do you want a Rotom? If not, you can snap a picture of it unless you think people that collect Rotom pictures are creepy too."

"I really would have loved to catch this Rotom if I hadn't already caught one earlier. Maybe one day I will come back and catch another one of these, but not today. While I have the camera out, I may as well take a picture."

 

NBP #5

James was nuts. How could he not want a Rotom? They made such good trade bait at the very basic level. Pretty much everyone Aleria knew wanted a Rotom. Even she wanted a Rotom. A Rotom-Heat would have been very cool. Its special move that it learned when it became the oven it always wanted to be wasn't the greatest, but it was better than nothing at all. Still, James didn't want it, and it was what he wanted, not what she wanted. He did have a point in that he'd already caught a Rotom earlier. Maybe he just didn't feel like doing a battle to catch a Rotom. After all, he did just run from a Shinx after only one round.

The Rotom just gazed curiously at the camera as James snapped a picture. It was dazed for a moment, but then it went back to the computer. The screen glowed an eerie, electric blue, and Aleria wondered who the next person (or Pokemon) to be surprised by the Pokemon that possessed electrical appliances would be.

They stepped out of the room and walked into a large room that had three other paths. A red and white ball rolled up to them, coming from a larger pile of balls similar to it off to the northeast corner of the room. Aleria blinked, and when it came to a stop, she noted that the white was on top of the red. "Electrode," she said, eying the Pokemon cautiously. Electrode were known for exploding without any notice whatsoever, and then they'd have to run. Not to mention there was no telling what would happen to the Power Plant. This place was old, and there was a chance for significant damage to the structure if Electrode exploded. Aleria worried what would happen if it did explode. "They're prone to exploding," she said, voicing her concerns. "While I don't think it'll explode, we should take caution if you choose not to catch it. You can't snap a picture of this guy, so unfortunately, it's not as easy as the previous three encounters."

After the flash went off, the blue screen dimmed a little and I sensed that Rotom went back into hiding, ready to strike at the next unsuspecting visitor. I felt a little crazy fleeing from a Rotom, but I did already have two, and it would undoubtedly be a long battle. We came to a corridor with three ways to go, but an Electrode blocked our path. I knew we'd have to thread very carefully here cause those guys had a temper.

"While I don't think it'll explode, we should take caution if you choose not to catch it. You can't snap a picture of this guy, so unfortunately, it's not as easy as the previous three encounters."

"Let's try and tiptoe past this guy. If he looks ready to blow up, I'll just use a Pokedoll from you. I currently have 12,150."

 

NBP #6

She nodded. It was do or die time now. They would either be successfully able to run from the Electrode before them, or they would be forced to use a doll that James would be forced to pay for. Al was sincerely hoping for the former situation. Electrode were volatile, and she didn't want to have to be the one to write up an incident report because of this guy.

The western path was the best option being that Electrode had come from the northeast corner of the room. If there was nothing on the western path, they could always circle back around to take a northern or eastern route once they knew for sure that the Electrode was gone. Aleria started to walk towards the western path, her hand already around a plush doll in her bag. The very second that Electrode started to glow, she was throwing a doll and high tailing it out of there. She could get the money from James once they were out of explosion range.

And it was rolling towards them. Oh shit, it was rolling towards them. Aleria freaked out just a little bit, and she threw the doll to the Electrode, not even aware of what Pokemon the doll was in the shape of and quickly walked down the western hallway. Once they were about halfway through the hall, Aleria stopped for just a moment. "Sorry about that. I get a little scared of Electrode. Exploding Pokemon aren't all that great, you know." Nodding, she took a deep breath and sighed. "I'll need the money for the doll."

When the money was received, Aleria led him on until they reached a dead end, which made her frown. No wonder why the Electrode didn't have a problem with leading them down here. It was a bloody dead end. Well, except for the fact that there were a pair of gears that made grinding noises, as if they needed to be oiled. The silver gears with their blue noses and their black eyes hovered in the air in front of Aleria and James. One smaller than the other, they turned in opposite directions. "Do you want a Klang?"

Aleria kinda started to freak out as we passed the Electrode and she was making me start to freak out! Not cool! She flung the doll at the Electrode as an added precaustion and I didn't really blame her to be honest.

"Sorry about that. I get a little scared of Electrode. Exploding Pokemon aren't all that great, you know." Nodding, she took a deep breath and sighed. "I'll need the money for the doll."

I paid her my hard earned shillings as we skirted by the overgrown pokeball only to be face to face with a set of rotating gears at the end of the hall. Lame.

"Let's try and head back another way. I have 11,650 to buy a doll if needed."

 

NBP #7

Aleria deposited the money she'd received from James into her bag, and it wasn't long that he was already offering up more money for another doll. The Klang had come out from the shadows by now, curiously gazing at the trainers. The gears continued to rotate, and Aleria frowned just a little. James had a point. Klang was a lame Pokemon. A very lame Pokemon, actually. It was just a pair of rotating gears. Aleria couldn't understand the appeal in such a Pokemon. Whatever. To each their own, as they always said.

She started to back away from the pair of gears, watching it carefully to see if it would let them leave in peace or if they would have to toss out another doll. Klang rushed forward, making Aleria yelp just a little from shock. It hadn't gotten close enough to do harm, but that was definitely a scare tactic, and it worked well. Without even hesitating, Aleria grabbed a doll from her bag, waved it in front of the Klang, and tossed it out into the shadows. The gears followed after the pink plush doll that she'd thrown, and they were free to return to the original clearing they'd met the Electrode in.

Good news was that by the time they'd returned, Electrode was gone. Bad news was there was a metal bird in the middle of the room. Even worse news was that James couldn't just snap a picture of the Skarmory and make it flee. She groaned just slightly. Maybe they'd get lucky here, and they'd be able to run. Three unsuccessful run attempts that involved using a doll was just bad luck, so clearly their fourth time would show them some luck. If not, then James would just be forced to pay for a doll. His money anyways. "Would you like a Skarmory?"
