OOC: @sorocoroto Sure, if you run into something that had its rank changed I'll point out its old character requirement.

“Ender, wrap this up with Ember from a distance this time,” Jesse commanded his Charmeleon. At this point it probably only would need to use one final move against Klang before it was catchable. Jesse knew the same thing, and pulled out an empty Super Ball, ready to toss it directly at Klang when the opportunity presented itself.

Charmeleon was told to once again use Ember, only this time it was to use it from a distance like the attack was intended. This made sense, I mean in the worst case scenario the attack would miss Klang, but then Klang would have no way of avoiding the Super Ball. Either way you looked at it Jesse was trying to wrap this up this turn. Charemeleon formed the small flame within its mouth, and set its sights on Klang. The aura emitting from the blaze was bright, Charmeleon wasn't holding back, but Klang wasn't about to just sit there and be abused either.

As the flame approached Klang it started to once again form electricity before its eyes, only this time it was a much smaller amount. Rather than a massive bolt, this was just a small shock of energy. It was using Thundershock, a unique move for Klang to know indeed, it, as well as its evolutionary line, were the only non-Electric-type to be able to know Thundershock. It wasn't a powerful attack, but at the same time it didn't seem like Klang was trying to out do Charmeleon either, more like it was trying to keep it an even battle, even though it was out-typed.

Both attacks hit at the same time. Charmeleon felt the shocks of electricity swarm throughout its body, whilst Klang got hit dead on in the face with the flame from Ember. Jesse, seeing this took his aim, and tossed the Super Ball right at Klang. Klang did try to put up a fight when it got trapped within the ball, but alas it was pointless. Klang was captured, securing a third Pokemon for Jesse.

"Well congrats. That's the fastest I've ever seen anyone catch three Pokemon. Now though, as I'm sure you know, you can only leave the Park with three Pokemon at once. This doesn't mean you need to leave with these three of course. You could capture something else, and send one of these Pokemon back into the wild, or you can just take what you have now, and call it a day. Its entirely your call," I said to Jesse, as I waited to see what he would do.

OCC: @ Ebail I just noticed that Metagross’s Health hasn’t been changed since I used the Super Potion on it.

IC: Klang’s gears wound again, albeit not as fast as earlier. A small bolt of energy formed in front of it. As Charmeleon released her large fireball, Klang released a Thundershock, a move that was at par with Ember power wise. It seemed like Klang wanted to keep things even.

The two attacks impacted, small explosions surging as the fire and electricity passed on antoher. Thundershock struck all over Charmeleon’s body, but she was still holding strong. The Ember attack struck into Klang’s face, heating it up, which caused the Steel-type Pokémon pain.

I lifted the Super Ball in my arm, imagined that Klang was a Psyduck-cardboard cutout at one of those games at a carnival, and threw the ball straight at the large blue spot on it.

Klang was sucked into the ball, causing it to shake from the struggle. The ball stopped its shaking, and I had caught my first Unova Pokémon.

“Well congrats,” Gary said as he walked over to the Super Ball, picking it up. “That’s the fastest I’ve ever seen anyone catch three Pokémon. Now though, as I’m sure you know, you can only leave the Park with three Pokémon at once. This doesn’t mean you need to leave with these three of course. You could capture something else and send one of these Pokémon back into the wild, or you can just take what you have now and call it a day. It’s entirely your call.”

I thought about it. The day was still young, and I didn’t have much to do when I got back to Kanto except thwart an evil organization or two. Kitsu probably misses me by now, though, she is on a berry hunting competition, so I have plenty of time before I have to get back. Plus, that Shinx and Luxio would miss their sister. It’s decided.

“I want to keep going. Let me just heal my Ender, and we can get going.”

I pulled out another Super Potion and sprayed it on my Charmeleon. The residue electricity wasn’t so bad, since she was grounded. Her bruises started to vanish, and she smiled after a very even battle.

“That was a good battle, Ender. Now, you deserve a rest.” And with that, I returned her to her Pokéball to rest mentally. “Alright, where to?”

OOC: @sorocoroto Yeah, I musta missed updating it in the stats.

IC: “I want to keep going. Let me just heal my Ender, and we can get going,” Jesse replied. I couldn't blame him really, sure he already captured three Pokemon, but he's only seen five Pokemon so far, so that still left several things he could possibly encounter, and maybe other things he'd want to catch. Who knew really, because different trainers had different taste in Pokemon.

“That was a good battle, Ender. Now, you deserve a rest.” Jesse said as he returned his Charmeleon to its Pokeball. “Alright, where to?"

"Well, there doesn't appear to be any more Pokemon here, so let's head west down some hallways, a lot of times Pokemon do like to roam in the hallways, because it offers a lot of free space." And with that we were off once again.

We headed down some hallways, passing a few rooms along the way. I checked each one to see if anything was in them, but unless a Pokemon was hiding itself, these rooms were empty. Though it didn't take much more walking before I heard a faint growl. It was a growl I already heard once on this run, yes it was all too familiar. Before us appeared another Shinx, just like the one from earlier.

"Perhaps this Shinx is a relative of the one you capture," I said, as I turned my head to Jesse. "I'm sure you have no interest in battling this, but still, I have to ask anyway."

OOC: @Ebail I know this is probably not the way to use Pokedolls and that I could have waited to see what the roll was, but this felt better rp-wise.

IC: “Well, there doesn't appear to be any more Pokemon here, so let's head west down some hallways, a lot of times Pokemon do like to roam in the hallways, because it offers a lot of free space," Gary said, leading me once again.

The hallways here seemed a lot more open than previously. Gary poked his head into a few of the rooms that we passed, but I guess he didn't see anything, because he just kept going. As we were walking, I felt the presence of something following us.

    "You took my sister."

And I knew exactly who it was. We turned around to see Shinx, the same one that I had noticed talking to the Luxio from before. I could see the anger and sadness in his eyes.

"Perhaps this Shinx is a relative of the one you captured," Gary said, "I'm sure you have no interest in battling this, but still, I have to ask anyway."

I walked up to Shinx slowly, Shinx growling under his breath.

"I'm sorry, little one. Please don't be angry at me."

I put my hand out to show my regret. Shinx bit me, but it seemed like his fangs hadn't come in yet, and it only hurt a bit. I have a high threshold of pain from all the adventures that I've been in, that a little bite like this didn't faze me. Shinx saw that the bite didn't have an effect, so he just let go of my hand and lowered his head.

"It's not fair," he said, letting the tears form. "Why do you Human keep coming here and capturing us. I just don't understand."

He was still too young. His body posture was sluggish and simple. He wasn't really a battler. He was just a brother.

I kneeled down and brushed the top of his head. Shinx cried as I tried to explain. "See, trainers come to the park to capture strong Pokemon. Pokemon battle trainer, because they see it like a way to test their ability. If they are captured, then they can be sure that the trainer will help improve their own abilities."

"But... She can get better here with her family. She was supposed to help me get strong too. Please, give her back!"

"I know," I said, feeling my conscious getting the better of me. "I'll make you a deal. I'm probably going to catch some more Pokemon while I'm here. After my run is over, come find me near the exit, and I'll release your sister to you."

Shinx perked up when I said this, but he had a suspicious look on his face. "How can I be sure?"

"Well, here is a sign of good faith." I reached into my pouch and pulled out a Pokemon Doll. They came in a variety of Pokemon, but the most common one was a Clefairy, like this one. "I'll give you this, so that you won't be lonely until your sister comes back."

I placed it down on the ground. Shinx sniffled the tears away and grabbed the doll with his teeth. He turned around and scampered off, but not before I heard him say, "You promised, no take-backs!"

I closed my pack, slung it around my shoulder and stood back up. Turning to Gary, I said, "Let's keep going."

As I figured Jesse didn't want to face this Shinx. Jesse seemed to be on the ground communicating with the Shinx, probably talking to it about the Shinx he captured earlier. He got up, and rather than just try to walk away from it, he gave this Shinx a Pokedoll to keep it distracted, and play with. "Let's keep going," Jesse said to me, after giving Shinx the Pokedoll.

I started leading him down another hallway, keep my eyes peeled, and ears opened for any Pokemon that may be around. We continued walking around, and there were no Electric-types roaming around on the ground, nor did I see anything in the air. Though, not much longer later I heard some flapping, and some very shrill screeches. Up in the air appeared a small blue bat, it had purple on the inside of its ears, as well as on the underside of its wings, it had tiny legs, and small beady eyes, as well as very sharp fangs.

"Well, would you like to face this Zubat?" I asked.

IC: Gary didn't ask any questions about my conversation with Shinx. I was glad, I didn't want to have to explain things if I didn't have to. Gary led me through the hallway until we heard the flapping of wings and the screeching of a Pokémon, hopefully a Pokémon. I couldn’t begin to think of the other things in this world that weren’t Pokémon or humans.

Flying around in the air, a small blue eyeless bat (though eyes on a bat weren’t really necessary anyways) appeared. It had big purple ears, purple wings, two long skinny legs, and a large fanged mouth.

"Well, would you like to face this Zubat?" Gary asked.

"Not really." I wanted to be able to catch another Pokémon for the Shinx sake, but a Zubat wasn't really something I was interested in. They were fairly common all over the world. They could eventually become powerful as Crobat, but I could find one later outside the National Park. I even heard that you could buy one in a store. Plus, I didn't want to wear any of my Pokémon down if I didn't have to.

I pulled out another Pokedoll. These were always a sure bet, and I wanted to find another Pokémon right-away. This Pokedoll was a Diglett doll. The brown stubby-mole-like doll had rock-like plush around the side to imitate a Diglett digging out of the ground. I placed it on the ground.

Zubat was releasing sonar waves to see us, and it seemed to have sensed it. Zubat flew down and started circling the doll out of interest.

"Not really," Jesse replied in response, as to whether or not he wanted to battle this Zubat. He had no desire to battle it, but that was relatively understandable, Zubat was a fairly common Pokemon, so he was no doubt after bigger fish.

Once again rather than try to run, Jesse pulled out another Pokedoll, though this time it had been one of a Diglett. Zubat, being a bat and all, had terrible eye sight, and had to sense out the Pokedoll. Once it did manage to sense out the doll though, it was more than thrilled to fly around the doll continuously.

"Let's move on while it's still distracted," I said, waving Jesse along. "Let's try another room of machinery on the way back, alright?" I told Jesse, this way he knew were he would be heading next, and could get ready if needed. While the Power Plant was like a maze in a sense, it could also loop around if you took the right directions. We weren't on a loop path right now though, and instead needed to return to the area where Klang was battled by backtracking our steps. Along the way I did make sure to see if any Pokemon showed up while we were gone, but there was nothing new, and before I knew it we were back at where Klang was battled, only this time I intended to enter a new room.

We walked into a room, similar to the one from before, but there was something different here; the sound of electricity was loud, a lot louder than it should have been. "This is strange, there shouldn't be this much raw electricity in here, so what's going on?" I asked myself. I got my answer as to why shortly thereafter. From behind one of the machines a large bird like creature took flight into the sky. It was mostly yellow to resemble its Electric-typing, with black on its back. It had a rather long beak, and appeared to have rather small legs. The feathers on its body were sticking out in all different directions, and looked as if the point might be sharp. It was a mighty Pokemon indeed, one easily capable of causing a thunderstorm in an instant by just flapping its wings.

"Heh, well would you look at that, it isn't every day that you see this, that's for sure. You might not be able to battle this Zapdos Jesse, but still, just seeing it must feel like a privilege right? Not to mention the great picture opportunity it makes as well."

“Let’s move on while it’s still distracted,” Gary said, understanding why I made my choice. “Let’s try another room of machinery on the way back, alright?”

My ranger and I backtracked passed the Zubat and the Pokedoll to the room that I had captured Klang. Gary seemed to be searching to see if any new Pokémon had showed up. Looking disappointed, he led me into a new room. As I followed him, I could see Shinx tugging the Clefairy doll behind some machinery.

But, before I could watch to see where he was taking it, I heard the raw crackling of a mass amount of electricity radiating from the room that Gary just opened the doors to.

Large electric bolts and waves surged all across the rom. A large bird-like screeching rang out from behind some of the larger machines. We saw it, a Zapdos, one of the legendary birds. Its massive yellow and black pointed wings were the origins of the electrical storm in the room. It was true; the Electric Pokémon seemed to look angry no matter what.

"Heh, well would you look at that, it isn't every day that you see this, that's for sure. You might not be able to battle this Zapdos Jesse, but still, just seeing it must feel like a privilege right? Not to mention the great picture opportunity it makes as well."

Punpun walked up next to me. He was just in awe, as was I. I wished that I had enough time to release the rest of my Pokémon, but they would just have to make do seeing it from within their balls, as the top half was only tinted red, and not solid.

I pulled out my digital camera that I had bought at the Park Shop. It was advertised that people would pay money to whoever captured one in a picture. I lowered the ISO (the room had more than enough light radiating from the electrical arcs) and lowered the zoom.

I raised it to my eyes, fixed the focus and snapped a picture of the Legendary Bird, startling Zapdos, causing it to flash out of the room as fast as a thunder-strike, residue electricity crackling all over the room.

"Man, I bet you get to see a lot of rare Pokemon like that." I put the camera back into my pack. "Ok, let's see if the Disc can work now. Maybe the Porygon would be drawn to the electrical energy here. Either that, or another electric Pokemon."

I pulled out the PokePlayer and loaded the Porygon Disc into it. I pressed play, and the cry of Porygon rang out over the static.

Jesse snapped a picture of Zapdos, and just like that it let out a cry, and flew off at an incredible speed. "Man, I bet you get to see a lot of rare Pokemon like that." Jesse said, putting away his camera, but going back to his Pokeplayer "Ok, let's see if the Disc can work now. Maybe the Porygon would be drawn to the electrical energy here. Either that, or another electric Pokemon." We waited for a few moments, but no Porygon showed up.

"That's too bad. But who knows, maybe you'd have better luck in one of the computer labs. Pokemon like Porygon seem to be drawn to there," I said to Jesse.

Unfortunately the computer rooms were on the opposite side of the plant, and I didn't have a Pokemon on hand that knew Teleport, so by the time we got down there, there might not be any Pokemon around there, or some could have gone into the room where Zapdos was. I didn't really know, but either way it was at least worth looking. We passed by no Pokemon along the way, it was almost as if the entire power plant went empty.

We walked into a new room, and it was pretty simplistic looking room. It was nothing more than a few advanced computers, some chairs, and a test table. It was pretty basic, though something wasn't right, it felt like something was watching us. I looked over at the walls, and noticed a pair of eyes looking at us. Something had been camouflaging itself. "Is that?" I said to myself. In order to really find out what was there, I tossed a pen over at the wall, and then the Pokemon showed its true self to us. It was a weird Pokemon, it made me think of computers. It kind of looked like a duck, or one of those drinking birds that you put in front of a cup of water. It was just a very unusual, but incredibly rare, and powerful Pokemon.

"Well, it isn't a Porygon, but it is technically the next best thing. So, want to battle this Porygon2 then?"

The sound of computer midi files rang out, but there was no echoing cry. The disc was a dud once again. Maybe it was just useless to try to use it. Maybe I could sell it or give it to Kitsu for when she came to the Park.

“That’s too bad. But who knows? Maybe you’d have better luck in one of the computer labs. Pokémon like Porygon seem to be drawn to there,” Gary sincerely said trying to lighten my spirits.

I was glad that I had a nice ranger like him.

“Alright, lead on,” I said dejectedly. I placed the Porygon Disc back it in its plastic protective casing and stored both it and the PokéPlayer in my Mawile-shaped pack. Huh. Maybe I’d see a Mawile in here some time. It was a Steel-type. I think that my mother’s Mawile could use a friend that was as deceptively beautiful as she was. I haven’t seen either of them since… anyways.

My luck didn’t seem to work out ever since I caught the Klang. I used two Pokedolls already on a Shinx that made me feel bad for being a trainer and a Zubat that I could find just be sneezing in a cave.

I mean, I got to see a powerful Legendary Bird, Zapdos, but it wasn’t like I was going to be able to capture it. I could use the money though. Team Rocket and Team Poison haven’t made too much noise since I had destroyed their conjoined base of operations. But that means I haven’t been paid since the reward money I had gotten. Oh well, I could always find a job that wasn’t secretly funded by an evil organization. Maybe Kitsu needs some help in her Berry Shop back in Kanto.

We were walking for a long time and the halls were starting to blend together, but still seemed familiar. I seemed like we were walking all the way back towards the front of the building. I understood that Gary knew the layout of the Plant, so I guess that we were just on the wrong side of the building and couldn’t get to the computer labs without going back a bit. It made sense: keep the heavy machinery separate from the more experimental rooms and delicate equipment.

We passed by many rooms, either filled with destroy equipment and furniture from previous trainers that battled here or resting peacefully as if time didn’t affect it. I couldn’t help thinking that the place was relatively quiet, even if it was called the Abandoned Power Plant. I didn’t even see the Luxio and Shinx. Maybe the Pokémon heard Zapdos’ cry and decided it would be best to lay low for a while. Zapdos was a powerful Pokémon, and it was probably even more so if made the National Park its home.

We finally made our way to our destination, as there was a large sign saying “Computer Room #5” above it. Gary opened the dusty, windowed double doors to a medium-sized room, smaller than the machinery room of course, but larger than the room with Weezing. There were some advanced computers, the ones that had smaller monitors but larger processing speed, but I noticed that there were large indents underneath the tables the supported them, as if the old five to six feet computers were housed here long ago. That just meant more room for us.

In the middle of the room was a test table, two seven feet by three feet thing pieces of metal separated by long vertical steel beams. However, it wasn’t bolted to the floor, so that I could be moved if needed to be. I looked at some of the papers on the top and noticed that it had the same heading as the paper that I had found in the room with Weezing. However, there was nothing important that I could decipher from them.

The room was also littered by a bunch of black cushioned, steel rolling-chairs and office supplies, staplers, clipboards, paperclips, etc.

I walked to one of the computers to see if maybe I could look up any information. As I thought to myself that this was dumb, since the place had been abandoned for maybe year, I saw that the monitor’s power button was orange, which meant that the computer was on, but just in sleep mode. I jiggled the mouse, which was resting over a pad that had the Silph Co. logo written on it, and the screen woke up.

On screen there was an open folder with two files in it, one read “Dr_Ignatius_Notes.txt” which surprised me as that could only be referring to Father, and the other read “EXPERIMENTAL_DONOTRUN.exe”. I saw that the program was already running, so I opened the notes.

This is Dr. Ignatius from Silph Corporation.

The two programs contained within this folder are the property for the Silph Corporation. The first is an experimental program designed by team led by me and funded by the company. It is designed to impart space-travel capabilities and an emotional AI system into the Virtual Pokémon. However, the project is still not complete and if implemented upon the second program, will not provide intended results. The second program is the Virtual Pokémon in question and is an authorized copy of the original product, design by myself and four other scientists. The program cannot be duplicated by an outside source. If the file is missing, please contact Silph Co immediately.

Well it’s missing. I guess I should call Father.

“Is that?” I heard Gary say quietly to himself.

I turned to see him toss a pen at a wall. It impacted a camouflaged object floating in midair. The object made a digitized noise, dropped its rouse and revealed itself to us. It resembled Fathers sketches from work. While Porygon looked like a polyhedral pink and blue duck with a bulky torso, triangular blue legs, a pink head with blue beak and a long blue hexahedron, this improved version, Porygon2, looked like what would happen if you took a 3D model of Porygon, stuck it in Autodesk Maya 3D and pressed “3.”

For those that aren’t familiar with Maya, it means that Porygon2 is a smoothed version of Porygon. The pink head and torso were connected by a cylindrical neck; its blue belly was oval-shaped; its head was more circular with a blue ellipsoid beak; and its two feet and tail were also ellipsoid in shape.

“Well, it isn’t a Porygon, but it is technically the next best thing.” Gary grinned. “So, want to battle this Porygon2 then?”

“Wow, yeah. Hey, you could say I got… an Up-Grade.” I smiled.

“Weak,” Lopunny said as he face-palmed.

I had to agree with him. It wasn’t one of my better jokes, not that I was that funny to begin with.

Porygon was tough, but this was going to be even tougher. So, I reached into my bag and pulled out a spray bottle, but it wasn’t a super potion. No, this was a Calming Fragrance Plus, which I bought at the shop for 5000 PokéDollars. Its odor would calm down any Pokémon that smelled it, making it slightly easier to battle and capture. This version was one of the stronger one, but it wouldn’t be as potent against a rare Pokémon like Porygon2. I squeezed the trigger, and a light green mist filled the room.

Porygon2 might not have a nose, but it had sensors. I remember reading that the sensors were supposed to detect changes in the air, which would help warn scientists if there were dangerous toxins. I was positive that the Calming Fragrance Plus would have an effect.

Now I had to choose a Pokémon. Porygon was no slouch on its own, but a most advanced version was just frightening. If I remembered correctly, Porygon was designed to have at least two abilities. One was Trace, where it would copy the ability of a Pokémon. That meant that Metagross, whose ability made it so that he couldn’t suffer from an opponent’s stat loss, was not coming out until I knew that Porygon either traced another Pokémon’s ability, or that it had its second ability, Download.

Download was tricky, as it would cause Porygon’s Attack stats to increase depending on its opponent’s lowest defensive stats. Good thing for me is that it only occurs in the beginning of the battle and would only change if Porygon would be switched out and back in by some reason. However, this was a Porygon2, so its abilities might have changed.

I still had three Pokémon that hadn’t seen battle yet. It might be best to use one of them first. I was about to reach for my Muk’s Pokéball when Lopunny placed his hand on my shoulder.

“I got this,” he said confidently. “It’ll be fun. I haven’t battle a member of the Porygon family in a while.”

I nodded in agreement. “I know you can do this, Punpun.”

My Lopunny was the first Pokémon I had ever captured when I was nine, before I started my journey. The short version of our story is that I was in the Eterna Forest escaping from Team Rocket, who had kidnapped my older brother, Prose and I, in order to blackmail Father and Prose to divulge secret projects that they were working on at Silph Co., the Up-Grade file was one of them.

The van that I was being transported in crashed, and so I ducked into the forest. I had happened upon a pack of Poochyena attacking a Buneary, and after defeating them, Buneary was so grateful to me that he wanted to help me in my journey; however, that was after the rabid Arcanine and the homicidal Seedot-Bomb throwing Shiftry with the evil Stone-Inducing-Evolution collars, but that’s another story.

Lopunny was never ashamed of his effeminate body, which was made even more so being that he was shiny and therefore had lavender fur. It actually helped him in many battles (not to mention getting him attention from all the ladies). His Cute Charm ability wouldn’t work on a genderless Pokémon like Porygon2, so if Porygon2 traced his ability, it would make it easier for me.

Wait. I knew what Lopunny was thinking. He knew me so well that he must have known that I was pondering which ability Porygon2 had, but if we used that move then…

“Alright, Punpun, use Entrainment! Show it your moves!”

Lopunny smirked as I correctly knew what he was thinking. Entrainment was a Normal-type move that changed the opponents Ability to match the user’s Ability. It was genius; I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before.

Lopunny were notoriously fast and known for their dancing grace. My Lopunny was no exception. See, to use Entrainment, the user dances to a non-uniform rhythm that compels the opponent to mimic it. Lopunny’s choice of dance was different for every move. For example, if he wanted to do a Rain Dance, he would do a Cha Cha Dance (not a Cha Cha Cha, that’s After You). Sunny Day, which he insisted on dancing as he did it, was a slow Tango. But for Entrainment, Lopunny adopted and added to a dance from some popular TV show. I don’t remember the name of the show, but I remember the name of the dance: “Do the Bartman.”

Lopunny would lean forward, chin extending past his toes and facing to the left, and then move his hips from front to back in a rock-like motion. During this, his left arm up would be up, his right arm down so that they created a curve (arms at a 90 degree angle), and his feet would be about elbow distance apart. After rocking for a bit, he’d then lean back, raising both his hands up pretending to honk clown noses, while closing his eyes to get into the odd groove, still pelvic thrusting, He’d then open his eyes, slide to the left wiggling his butt and then slide to the right. He’d take four steps forward, kicking out his legs for dramatic effect. Finally, he’d moonwalk back to position grabbing his crotch in honor of a fallen Pop Legend.

Now, as this happened, Lopunny’s fur would radiate a light-golden-rod-yellow aura. The mysterious wave would appear around Porygon2, influencing it to mimic the same movements as best as it could and changing his ability to Cute Charm, which to genderless Pokémon, wouldn’t give it much of an advantage.

Lopunny was confident in his ability to dance, and it was his attitude that fueled the move. So, what kind of trainer would I be if I didn’t support him.

I slipped off my black, silver and yellow bag and, while being about teen feet back from the “battlefield”, danced along with my faithful Partner. I even sang a bit of the song in my head as I danced.

Everybody if you can, do the Bartman,
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man
Move your butt to the side, yes, you can, can
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman.

However, I made sure to see how Porygon2 was reacting and how he would counter. The good thing about this dance, unlike the Cha Cha and the Tango, is that it kept the dancer facing on direction, perfect for battling. I watched to see how an analytical Pokémon like Porygon2 would react to such a weird dance.

“Wow, yeah. Hey, you could say I got… an Up-Grade," Jesse said, in response to seeing this Porygon2. I couldn't help but turn my head and think, wow, I haven't heard of a pun like that since this Eric guy was in Mount Oktori, and told a Vanillite to get ready to be licked. Before Jesse even did anything he pulled something out of his backpack. It was an unusual spray, it was one of the Fragrance items, an item that slightly soothes a Pokemon based on how strong it is, and also make it easier to capture. Based on the items Jesse brought with him I knew it was a Calming Fragrance Plus, a great item to use against a Pokemon such as Porygon2. The battle hadn't even started yet, but Jesse had already given himself a slight edge.

After this he seemed to wonder what Pokemon would be best to use here. It was understandable, I mean for starters he didn't even know what ability Porygon2 was packing, if it was Trace it would just duplicate the ability of the Pokemon it faced, or if it was Download then Porygon would either get stronger in its Attack or Special Attack based on what Pokemon was sent. Analytic though would have been the worst of all, due to Porygon2's very slow speed it would easily be hit by an attack first, and then it would deal out much stronger moves. I didn't think this was very likely though, as that was a rare ability to find a Porygon2 with, but still it was a possibility.

Jesse turned to Lopunny, and gave a nod signaling it was Lopunny's battle to have. It was an unusual choice, but we all do tend to go with our favorite Pokemon in important battles, so I'm sure Jesse knew what he was doing. “Alright, Punpun, use Entrainment! Show it your moves!” Jesse commanded. This was actually pretty smart. It would do away with Porygon's ability, whatever it was, and it would give it Lopunny's instead, Cute Charm, an ability that's all but useless for a genderless Pokemon. It was weird seeing a battle start off without a damaging attack, but in the long run I'm sure this would pay off.

Lopunny began to do a strange dance. Really, Entrainment was one of those moves where I had no idea how it worked exactly. I mean, a dance being able to give Porygon Lopunny's ability was astounding, I would never be able to guess how this move worked. Lopunny kept dancing, but Porygon wasn't doing nothing itself, it started to charge up a move from a previous encounter; a move from the battle with Shinx. A strange multicolored beam of energy, purple and pink in color. Lopunny finished Entrainment, and at that time Porygon2 fired the move at Lopunny, a Signal Beam. If Lopunny wasn't lucky then Signal Beam would surely cause it confusion. The beam hit Lopunny head on, and caused it to step back a few feet from a bit of pain, though it didn't look confused, so that was a good thing. But still, the Porygon family were a crafty bunch, and very good at offense, as well as defense, the latter in Porygon2's case, so this would be far from easy for Jesse.

    @Ebail

Lopunny and I started dancing to some made-up rhythm in Lopunny’s head. I was always good at following the music of someone’s beat, even if it was odd like this one. I’ve must have seen Lopunny do it about a hundred times by now in various contests and battles, and so I’m used to the craziness that the dance entailed.

Gary didn’t seem to be fazed by it, though. I wasn’t sure how many people actually seen the move, or even owned a Pokémon that knew it, as there were only five Pokémon that knew about that learned it. I couldn’t even begin to think about which Pokémon from Unova knew it. Then again, I don’t really know many people that use a Lopunny on their team.

Normal-type Pokémon were very good choices if you needed a Jack-of-Trades on the team. However, most people didn’t see this. If it wasn’t for Lopunny being my Starter Pokémon, Kitsu would have laughed at me for using a Normal-type.

As she would say, “The only thing worse than a Fighting-type Pokémon is a Normal type.” Or was it the other way around? She didn’t like Fighting-type Pokémon either, tending to love Psychic-types like Abra or Ghost-types like Haunter, both of which had an advantage to Fighting-type. Either way, though, she should talk; she keeps a pet Skitty with her almost all the time. Though, she does really only keeps Pokémon if she thinks that they are cute, which is another reason why she like Lopunny.

Porygon2’s body started to get surrounded by the light-goldenrod-yellow aura that reflected of its shiny blue and pink smooth body. The Entrainment wasn’t a common move that was for sure, but since Porygon was able to enter cyberspace, it had probably known that such a move exists. However, it couldn’t resist the move.

Porygon2 started waving its legs as far as it could, one up and one down. It lifted its body up and started rocking its body back and forth. Porygon2’s legs kept switching from mimicking Lopunny’s arms and legs, since it only had two appendages besides its tail, which was wagging as it slid through the air from left to right. It stepped and kicked forwards and even did the moonwalk.

I was impressed, as Porygon sure didn’t dance this good. It was just too ridged, like a Geodude or Nosepass, though they weren’t that bad of dancers. But, this model of the Porygon family was moving and grooving as it hovered slightly over the floor. The Up-Grade must have improved its non-essential functions. I remember that Father went over the story of Porygon2 and the Up-Grade once before.

Many years ago, the Sliph Corporation was commissioned by the Mossdeep Space Center in the Hoenn region to create a Pokémon that would be able to survive in space during many of their different missions, the first of which was to explore the planet of Mars, the fourth planet in our solar system. The Silph Corporation decided that instead of creating a whole new Pokémon, they would modify their current creation. Father and most of the rest of the head scientists on the project were still employed in the Creative Development Division, or the CDD, so it saved both time and money.

They spent about three years on the project, analyzing space material found at places like Mount Moon, whose inhabitants, the Clefairy, were believed to have crashed on our planet many years ago, and Veilsone City, which is the home of many mysterious stones including meteorites that are rumored to be related to the Legendary Pokémon, Deoxys, a Pokémon believed to be from space.

A few of the scientists wanted to give the project, Porygon2, more animal-like motions and abilities in order to make it seem more “Pokémon-like,” but there wasn’t enough support from the clients, though it seems like they were able to slip in some hidden code into Porygon2’s programing.

When the project was done, the Mossdeep Space Center sent Porygon2 up in a shuttle with a few semi-notable astronauts and a scientist from the team. Father was invited to go, but declined. Father said that he wanted to stay with his family. Though, I learned later that there were other factors that influenced that decision, including the reason why we weren’t on such good terms anymore.

But, it was a good thing he didn’t join the mission, as the scientist that went up was blamed for the “incident.” Porygon2 could survive in space, yes, but that wasn’t the problem. Apparently the Mossdeep Space Center assumed that Porygon2 would be able to fly and propel itself through the vacuum of space. Porygon2 could propel itself off the ground, but only by using strong neodymium iron boron magnets, which needed other metallic materials around it to push against its “negative” magnetism. And that meant that when they launched Porygon2 onto the surface of Mars, they couldn’t tell it to return to the shuttle on its own.

It was really embarrassing for Mossdeep Space Center, because when they tried to sue Silph Corporation for break the contract, they lost the case since they never explicitly defined what they meant by “survive in space” in the documented contract. To make matters worse, they had to pay to recover Porygon2 as the Space Center agreed to return Porygon2 after the missions.

Needless to say, the Silph Corporation had some reservations when Mossdeep Space Center commissioned for a “proper” upgrade. Father said that during the meeting, representatives from Mossdeep Space Center told them that if they didn’t want to create another Porygon model, whether it was version 2, 3, 4, A, or Z, they would find their own way.

The Silph Corporation, under the persuasion of the CDD, decided against it. That is when there was a break in at the labs. Files were corrupted or missing. Testing materials were destroyed. And about a year later, the CDD heard about some rumors of a “Dubious Disc” which could hack the Porygon2 project.

That is why the research team had to find a new location to work on Porygon2 and create and release a no hacked version of the improved Porygon2 to the market. Since the Dubious Disc is currently Confident and a Company Secret, they can’t patent it. Even if they do, the Silph Corporation could sue them for use of their patented materials without permission. This also means that the Silph Corporation can patent their own “Porygon-Z” if they choose.

Oh… That is probably why there were a lot of items in the plant that had Silph Co. logo emblazoned on them. They must have inhabited this facility for a time. Though, I did seem a bunch of other logos around as well. Maybe it was like a time share, but for science.

But yeah, it was because of this incident that the Silph Corporation doesn’t operate heavily in the Hoenn region anymore. However, they still have smaller companies to deal with the basic stuff: items, Pokéballs, etc.

Getting back to the present, I could see that, at first, Porygon2 was struggling against the move, and I could also tell that it was getting frustrated, losing whatever ability it had. However, soon, Porygon2 just let go and followed the dance. But while Porygon was “doing the Bartman,” its body started to become surrounded by what looked like silver static that you would see on a television that lost signal.

Lopunny and I finished dancing, but Porygon2 seemed to keep going. The aura from Entrainment was gone, so I don’t know what was going on.

As Porygon2 pelvic-thrusted into the air, the glittering aura focused in around its head and then to its blue beak. As Poryon2 kicked forward, the Virtual Pokémon released a large wave of blue, orange, purple, pink and many other color of the rainbow towards Lopunny. As the ranged attack traveled through the air, waves of the Bug-type move vibrated through the light green mist left from the Calming Fragrance Plus I had just sprayed moments before. It looked like an aurora borealis, it was really beautiful. I was sad that I couldn’t take a picture of it, as the flash would cause Porygon2 to flee.

The Signal Beam, which I’d seen Shinx use earlier albeit not as powerful, smacked into Lopunny’s chest, pushing him back a few feet, but Lopunny was tough and stood his ground, shaking off the attack like a boss. The now multicolored mist started to dissipate through the doors; its job was done. Porygon2 did seem more calm.

We both looked at Porygon2 who was just finishing up another moonwalk before spinning around on the tips of its feet. It must have been because of the Fragrance or maybe because of those hidden programs were making it act like it was, or it was just having fun, because dance parties are always fun!

The Signal Beam didn’t seem to faze Lopunny, but if Porygon2 was looking to confuse him, it would take more than one attack.

“I could try to Mirror Coat it back if it tries it again.” Lopunny said to me.

It might have been good to go defensive until I figured out how Porygon2 battled or what kind of nature it had. Despite it being a man-made Pokémon, it still was a Pokémon and had something resembling emotions. However, if I just waited to see what Portgon2 was going to do, it would also give Porygon2 a chance to set up its stats to give it an advantage down the road, and I would have just wasted a turn. For now, it would be best if Lopunny went on the offensive and see how Porygon2 reacted to a direct attack this time.

“Only if you find a good opportunity to use Mirror Coat,” I said so that I didn’t discourage him. “But if you do, you can use it. For now, try to get close with a Dizzy Punch. Let’s see if you have a better chance confusing Porygon2.”

Lopunny would hold out his arms out and lower his giant floppy ears so that he’d look like overhead power lines that you sometimes see on the road connecting together and then start to spin around, like a ballerina, a manly ballerina. His fists and lavender fluff on the tip of his ears would form rainbow-colored orbs. As his spun around he’d look like a tornado of sparkling magical energy. When he would get up close to Porygon2, he’d stop spinning and feint two punches with his arms, while the real power of the attack, his ears, would strike Porygon2’s body.

This move was very popular at contests, as Lopunny were a crowd favorite, let alone a shiny one like my Lopunny. The move was designed to create a lot of appeal, since Lopunny was able to come out of the tornado with momentum and not sickness, as most Pokémon do then they spin fast. Lopunny’s dancing ability help it with that. Also, the two feint attacks were a nice pull as the opponent would usually react to those first.

However, it always seemed that Pokémon in the National Park had a response to everything, and any combination that would normally work would be countered somehow. It’s like they can read our thoughts and determine how our moves will work right before we did them.

It always seemed like they were waiting for me to make a move. Maybe next time I should wait for them to prepare a move and then come up with a response, but then by the time they attack, it might be too late to come up with the proper response, which makes it difficult to battle defensively like I was used to.

Oh well, if Porygon2 doesn’t get confused from this attack, I could try to command Lopunny more defensively. Right now though, I needed to do some damage. Hopefully, Lopunny would be able to handle whatever move Porygon2 tries to do, because I wouldn’t be able to give it a quick response.

After the exchange of attacks Jesse went back to thinking to himself, thinking a lot it seemed this time. How could he not though? He had a Chansey on hand, one of the few Pokemon that wasn't fully evolved like Porygon2, but still considering an incredible wall just like Porygon2 was. The only difference was for as much of a wall Porygon2 could be, it was just that much deadly on offense also. Porygon2 was the whole package, offense, and defense, it could smack you in the face with a powerful move like Ice Beam, or Thunderbolt, or it could hit you with a Thunder Wave, and sit back and use Recover. There really was no way to know what an unpredictable creature such as this would do. Jesse must have known this too, as he thought long before giving Lopunny it's commands.

“Only if you find a good opportunity to use Mirror Coat,” Jesse said at random. That was kind of a weird thing to say out of nowhere, I thought to myself before he finished. “But if you do, you can use it. For now, try to get close with a Dizzy Punch. Let’s see if you have a better chance confusing Porygon2," Jesse instructed his Lopunny. The command was fairly simple enough, punch Porygon to try to make it confused, and if it throws a Special Attack Lopunny's way, try to counter it with Mirror Coat. Of course there was the chance though that Porygon could hit Lopunny with a Special Attack, as Lopunny was busy hitting Porygon with Dizzy Punch.

Dizzy Punch could be executed one of two ways, first if the Pokemon was experienced enough with the move it could just stumble around some, and begin to punch the opposing Pokemon, acting dizzy along the way to avoid attacks, or second, and the more common way, was by first spinning around at a great speed, and then taking off the opposing Pokemon, punching them to try to transfer the dizziness over to them. I wasn't really sure how that worked, but it could be able to convert it over, and make the Pokemon confused.

Lopunny started to spin around, and in an instant it shot off to Porygon. Lopunny started to hit Porygon, and tried to hopefully cause confusion, but Porygon was taking the hits, and it wasn't enjoying this. From its body an aura of electricity started to form. It wasn't long before Porygon released a powerful electric attack that could damage everything in the surrounding area, a move hard to block, and since Lopunny was busy attacking Porygon it didn't have a chance to use Mirror Coat. The move Porygon used was Discharge, a move not quite as strong as Thunderbolt, but it covered a greater radius of area, and it had a higher chance of causing paralysis, than Thunderbolt. But either way it didn't look like Lopunny was paralyzed, nor did it look as though Porygon was confused, but both Pokemon were certainly feeling some damage, that much was for sure.

Lopunny dashed forward, spinning into a tornado. His arms and ears glowed, and they struck, once, twice, three times, four times. Porygon2 didn’t respond to the feints by ducking away, but instead took each hit. As it was being hit though, I noticed that a spark of electricity jumped away from the Virtual Pokémon. That’s why Porygon2 wasn’t moving, it was charging a move of its own.

Lopunny took this time to get in a few more blows as Porygon2 didn’t move, but that was a mistake. Porygon2’s body started to radiate a yellow aura. At first, the glow was just vibrating the air around it, but it was just for show. It seemed like Porygon2 lit up from all side and then a second later the crackling of electricity rang out. A pulse of thunder boomed and shocks of electric radiated from all sides of the smooth Porygon copy. Lopunny didn’t have a chance to use Mirror Coat, of course, because it was so close.

The shockwave of static threw Lopunny only two feet away, as the move, Discharge, wasn’t that strong. The electric move sacrificed power, like from a Thunderbolt, but put that energy to be able to attack from all sides. Also, it had a slightly better chance at paralyzing a Pokémon.

“Can you move?” I asked my Lopunny.

Lopunny bounced a bit in place, testing his limbs and ears, before responding with, “All good here, Jesse.”

That’s good. It wouldn’t have been good if Lopunny was slowed. But, it also seemed that Porygon2 wasn’t feeling the desired effects of the move. But that was fine. I think that I had a decent idea of its fighting style, but only time will tell, for it was still young in the battle.

Porygon, Poryon2, and what I heard about the mysterious Porygon-Z were very versatile Pokémon. Being Normal-type Pokémon, they had access to a plethora of many different moves. I laughed a bit, as I thought that Jessie probably wouldn’t see the power that a Porygon2 held, but I was no fool. Any member of the Porygon family could spit out Electric-type moves, Ice-type moves, Psychic-type moves, and then just sit back and Recover its health. However, its Normal-type moves weren’t anything to slouch about, since Porygon2 was a Normal-type Pokémon and did more damage with moves of its type.

“Punpun, since you’re up close, use a Jump Kick!”

Lopunny turned towards me. He smiled as he was waiting for me to choose this particular move, which was one of his most powerful attacks. He had used it many times before in order to get the drop on our enemies, included the Arcanine that was trying to bite my head off.

It was also a good move because of its typing. Porygon2 was a Normal-type, just like Lopunny, but unlike Lopunny, it didn’t have any Fighting-type moves.

Lopunny would crunch down behind his right leg, which would be extended out, while bending his left leg back. His right arm would be placed hinged in front of him to keep balance and his left arm would be raised behind him. His legs would then glow a light brown, and Lopunny would propel himself towards Porygon2. His right foot would work like the anchor of a slingshot, as he flipped his left leg with all his might towards Porygon2.

There was a risk, though. If the move missing, it would hurt Lopunny’s leg, as all the momentum and energy would be distributed through its leg instead of Porygon2’s body. It had happened a few times before during important battles, and this was an important battle. Especially because the last time Lopunny missed a Jump Kick, it was against Father’s Porygon. The battle was lasting too long, and my friends needed my help, so I wanted Lopunny to end the battle quickly with the attack, but Father was waiting for me to use the move and had Porygon dodge out of the way. As Lopunny crashed into some tables, Father took the opportunity to finish Lopunny off with a Hyper Beam. Lopunny never really got over it, and so he probably sees this as an opportunity to make up for it.

During the attack, or right after the attack, Porygon2 would counteract somehow. After seeing what attack it was, I would see if I had to go defensive or offensive. Lopunny still seemed in good shape, but if it would take damage from both failing to use Jump Kick and an attack from Porygon2, I might have to switch him out. Though, now that I think about it, Porygon was supposed to have a move that changed its type to the same type as the last attack. So maybe if Porygon2 use that move to become a Fighting-type, I could switch to Metagross to weaken it with some Psychic type moves, but then it could switch to a Psychic-type, and none of my Pokémon had Bug-type or Dark-type moves.

Oh, well, let’s see how this exchange of blows goes first before thinking that far ahead. Sometimes I overthought things, but at least I could do it quickly, as Lopunny had just started to leap towards Porygon2 with his Jump Kick attack.

Jesse was once again talking with Lopunny. He must have been trying to figure out would be good to use next. Porygon2 could take a hit, so its not like Jesse could come up with a move that would instantly make Porygon2 catchable, and at the same time Porygon might be able to remember what moves would look like after they happen, and be able to counter them. But now wasn't the time for Jesse to be thinking about the latter of the two. He must have know Porygon would need to be weakened a good deal more before it could be captured, and so it was just a matter of picking which moves would be best to use, without knocking Porygon out.

“Punpun, since you’re up close, use a Jump Kick!” Jesse commanded his Lopunny. Jump Kick was a good idea to use, but at the same exact time it could also prove to be very costly. Jump Kick could either be done, by charging at the opposing Pokemon, and jumping up at them to kick them, or they could jump in the air, then come flying down at them at try to kick them. The problem with either way though, was that if the Pokemon using the move missed, and crashed into something they would take very heavy damage as recoil. This made Jump Kick a move not used unless absolutely needed, or by a Pokemon who had the ability Reckless. In the case of Reckless it was used, because then the power of the move would be increased. This wasn't Lopunny's case though, it was just using it to weaken Porygon with a Fighting-type move.

Lopunny was close to Porygon, so it would be using the "jump into the air, and kick them from above" method. Lopunny threw itself into the air, and before it came completely back down Porygon started to charge up its own attack. Lopunny kicked Porygon right across the face, causing the creature to wince in pain. Rather than try to avoid the attack, Porygon was more focused on creating its own attack. It was a small blue, and white, frozen ball of energy. It wasn't long before Porygon took this energy ball, and fired it out as a beam. This beam was a pure frozen beam; it was an Ice Beam. The beam hit Lopunny, and you could instantly see it shivering, though thankfully for it it didn't freeze. Still, you had to admit Porygon was using a lot of moves that could cause a form of hax, but then again, looking at Porygon's movepool that was mostly the kinds of moves it could learn.

Lopunny pounced his way towards Porygon2 , his leg shining with a bright dark-orange light. It always seemed that every physical type move caused on of a Pokémon’s appendages to start to glow, if not the whole Pokémon’s body. As he spun through the air, Porygon2’s body started to become an icy-blue color. Cracks of frost crept alongside its legs, tail and head. At the tip of his tail, a blue light started filling up Porygon2’s body like a flashlight.

Lopunny swung his foot with all his might and smashed the Fighting-type move right into Porygon2’s round face, causing a bit of icy dust to fly out of Porygon2 from the impact. Porygon2 what badly hurt from that last move, but it didn’t budge from its spot because it needed time to charge up a counter move. It was admirable, as Klang had once did, that National Park Pokémon seemed to be all about trading blow for blow. Or maybe I just haven’t met any of the really tricky ones. I did plan on going to the Meteor Valley in the future. Kitsu has been hounding me to go for a while. She wants to find a cute Zorua, the Illusion Pokémon, there and catch it. She would probably not even want the evolved formed, Zoruark because she thinks that its ugly, but I would love one.

Anyways, back to the battle. Crackling blue energy jumped from Porygon2’s tail and legs like electricity and bunched up into a ball in front of Porygon2’s beak. The ball radiated cold temperature which felt as cold as when I visited the National Park before and faced my Walrein.

Lopunny tried to jump back after he finished his Jump Kick attack, but it was too late. Porgon2 released a frozen column of blue-white energy towards Lopunny. Lopunny’s brown and lavender fur was staring to build up some frost as he shivered to keep warm. The Ice Beam did a good job of knocking my Pokémon back, but after it had subsided, I could see that Lopunny was alight as he was brushing off the ice from his body. The Ice Beam didn’t freeze Lopunny, which was good, as a frozen Pokémon is really not a good asset to have in a battle like this.

It was odd seeing Porygon2 use a bunch of different elemental type moves. I remembered that Porygon knew Tri-Attack, a move that attacked with Electric, Fire, and Ice and could inflict one of three different status conditions. However, it wasn’t as powerful as some of the other attacks. Though with the giant move set that was programmed into the Virtual Pokémon, Porygon, I could just imagine the amount of moves that they could have added to Porygon2.

Okies, it seemed like the battle was going great. Both Pokémon traded strong blows, but I could see out the window that the sun was low, and I didn’t want to have to stay too late in this Abandoned Power Plant. I heard ghost stories about what happens sometimes at night. A couple trainers said that they’ve heard noises and doors would open and close on their own. When they went to see if it was a Pokémon, it would turn out that nothing was around. It freaked them out so badly, but I guess that must mean that the Meteor Valley would be even worse.

Alright, so, I had to land one final attack and then try to catch this Pokémon. I’d like to get off the island in time for the last boat.

“Punpun, use Strength and then get out of the way so I can throw this!”

I pulled out a Hyper Ball, the strongest Park Ball commercially available to trainers. Usually people waited to use it for second stage Pokémon, but it still had a slightly better capture rate than the Super Ball, and I wanted just that much more of an edge. The camouflaged ball looked almost identical to the rest of the balls, except for the “U” emblazoned on the bottom of it. It would be bad if you were trying to use a Hyper Ball and then throw a simple Park Ball.

Lopunny nodded. He knew that I wanted to end this with a strong attack so he started to concentrate.

Lopunny’s body would release a bright white aura, increasing his physical capabilities for the next part of the attack. Lopunny would rush towards Porygon2, pick the Pokémon up by its head with ease and then toss it over his head towards the floor. The added strength would cause the floor to shake from the impact, but hopefully it wouldn’t damage it that much and instead damage Porygon2.

Porygon2 would definitely be able to get a move in while it was vulnerable though, since Lopunny would be concentrating all his energy on lifting Poryon2 over his head and then back down to the ground.

Lopunny would then jump out of the way as I would activate the green and brown Hyper Ball and toss it towards Porygon2. The ball would hit its pink and blue head, enveloping it within the mirror like containment field. Porygon2 would feel at home inside the ball, as it converted Pokémon into energy and stored them like data, which Porygon2 was essentially.

Even if the ball would break, and Porygon would be released, I had four more Hyper Balls. It was good to be prepared when heading into the Park.

Jesse was watching the last exchange of moves very carefully. He saw how Porygon didn't avoid Lopunny's attack, rather it got a feel for the attack. This was probably to prevent future uses of the move from working on itself. I don't think that mattered to him though; Jesse had been battling pretty smartly throughout the run, more or less, so he was bound to figure out something else to use against Porygon.

“Punpun, use Strength and then get out of the way so I can throw this!” Jesse told his Lopunny. He planned to go for the old "hit, and run" battle strategy. It was common to see Normal-types such as Lopunny, or Ambipom use this. They deliver a quick, and powerful blow, then jump out of the way of an incoming Pokeball. This way the Pokemon would have no way of avoiding the ball.

Lopunny was told to use Strength, a move similar to Body Slam, though Strength couldn't cause paralysis, and rather than hitting the opponent with ones stomach, Strength would smack, or toss, the Pokemon against the ground, but only after the Pokemon using it powered up first. Lopunny began to increase its strength, but in the process Porygon planned one last act of defiance. Porygon released a small freezing wind, the aura from it was similar to that of Ice Beam's, and should the attack hit, Lopunny's speed would decrease by one stage. Porygon was using Icy Wind, a very strategical Ice-type move. Porygon released the attack, as Lopunny started to charge over at it. The attack hit Lopunny, but it didn't seem to faze the bunny Pokemon much, though this was probably because Lopunny was caught in the heat of battle. Lopunny then picked up Porygon2, and slammed it against the ground. This had been Jesse's chance, and he threw a Hyper Ball right at it. The ball hit Porygon2 right on its head, and sucked it in. The Pokemon still had a lot of fight left in it, as it tried to break free from the ball for several seconds, but....

"Good Job, Jesse. You just managed to capture one of the rarest Pokemon that you can find at the park. So what's next?"

I was so happy that the ball didn't burst open at the last second, but I guess that it was too distracted and tired after trying to stop Lopunny's attack with an Icy Wind attack. Porygon2 was tossed so hard, that I could feel the vibrations under me.

I pulled out a Super Potion and healed Lopunny as Gary picked up the Hyper Ball and placed it with the rest of that Pokemon I had caught.

"Thanks, buddy, great job," I said to Lopunny.

"You bet. I think I'd like to rest in my ball a bit, though."

It was understandable. Lopunny had fought hard and was coming down from the rush of battle. I pulled out his white Premier Ball and recalled my Bunny Pokemon. This must have been a good victory for Lopunny. Since I had captured Porgon2, he'd think of it as a make up for when Father's Porygon defeated him all those years ago. He could go back to his Jolly self.

I turned to Gary and said, "Let's keep going. I'd like to see what other rare Pokemon I can find now."

Jesse took out another Super Potion, and he used this one to heal his Lopunny, after this he had decided to return it to its Pokeball for some rest. Now that he had worked out his business with Lopunny, and had Porygon2 captured I had to wonder what his decision would be, though the Super Potion usage did make me have a guess.

"Let's keep going. I'd like to see what other rare Pokemon I can find now," Jesse said to me. This was pretty unusual, to say the least. Usually once people caught three rare Pokemon, in this case Weezing, Klang, and Porygon2, they would leave the park, so they could get to using their new Pokemon. Jesse wasn't ready to say goodbye yet, though. Maybe he still wanted a rare Electric-type, I didn't know, but I also wasn't going to ask, I was just going to keep leading him along.

"Let's go check the main hallway, maybe by now some new Pokemon have showed up," I said, but it didn't take more than just walking out of this computer room before seeing another Pokemon right in front of us. It was similar to something we saw earlier. It was in the air flapping around, was purple in color, had bluish colored wings on its other side, creepy yellow eyes. Its ears had gone from sticking out, to standing up. Its legs also looked like they could double over as wings.

"You didn't want that Zubat before, so I'm going to doubt you want this Crobat, correct?

"Let's go check the main hallway, maybe by now some new Pokemon have showed up," Gary said.

We said our goodbyes to the room, but right as we exited, we heard a screeching noise. Another giant bat was flapping around. It was a Crobat, the final stage of Zubat. It's body became purple and its wings blue. This bat actually had some eyes, a pair of yellow beady ones along with purple ears sticking outwards from its head. The two long legs from Zubat had turned into little stubbly ones, while between them and its main set of wings, it had grown two more fully purple wings. It's body had also grown to the size of a melon.

"You didn't want that Zubat before, so I'm going to doubt you want this Crobat, correct?" Gary asked.

While Crobat was rare to find in the wild, Zubats weren't, and like I said before, I could catch one anytime. It wasn't as hard to evolve Pokemon as it was in the past, either. Just find a few trainers, battle battle and battle, and then poof your Pokemon was all grown up.

I pulled out another Pokedoll, this time it was Grimer Doll. I placed it on the ground, and this time I didn't have to wait too long, as Crobat actually could see the Poison-Type Impostor. It flapped around it just like Zubat had done earlier.

    "Right, let's keep going."
