OOC: @sorocoroto Try to describe your attacks more in detail, that will really help your posts.

IC: “Sure, not many times you see one of these in the wild,” Jesse said. He seemed pretty interested in this Weezing which was rather surprising, not many people came here looking for Poison-type Pokemon, in fact most trainers usually repelled them away before their run started. Made me wonder why Jesse hadn't done that. Of course though Weezing was a pretty underrated Pokemon, and it could do some pretty good things in battle.

Jesse sent out his Metagross to battle, this was actually pretty reliving. Using a Steel-type against a Poison-type would counteract the poison, and gases released from it. I could only imagine the horror if Jesse had decided to use something with Fire-type moves against this thing.

“Proton, use Agility into a Bullet Punch,” Jesse commanded his Metagross. It was a pretty crafty idea, I had heard of similar things happening at other times, Pokemon would boost their speed and use a move such as Fake Out, or Mach Punch to try to baffle the opposing Pokemon. It was strategic, and would normally work, though not every Pokemon is easily tricked.

Metagross started to float around, and speed through the room. Unfortunately though, this wasn't an incredibly large room, so Metagross didn't exactly have the most amount of space to work with. This gave Weezing a decent enough chance to keep its eyes on Metagross, it also didn't help that Weezing had an extra set of eyes to keep on Metagross either. Due to the limited space, and Metagross' massive size it needed to move around a little longer than normal to receive the full of effects of Agility, but once it was done it set its sights on Weezing, and flung itself towards Weezing at an even faster pace.

Bullet Punch was an increased priority Steel-type move. The user would move at a very fast speed towards the opponent, making fists along the way, and punching the opponent numerous times with silver colored fists. This gave an unprepared Pokemon next to no time to act, and they would be subjected to feeling some damage. Weezing however was able to notice, and was able to start producing a counterattack.

Weezing inhaled deeply, and as it was Metagross was able to strike it several times in its midsection, causing it to wince in pain, yet it never let out its breath. Metagross floated away looking satisfied. There was really no way of telling how many punches Metagross landed because they all happened so fast, but one thing was for sure, Weezing wanted revenge. While Metagross was moving away it was totally off-guard, and was off its defense.

Weezing released the air from its mouth that it was storing, producing a dark purple energy ball. The innards of the ball were a lighter shade of purple, and constantly went intangible. Weezing had been making, and was now using Shadow Ball. Metagross had no way of avoiding the attack, and was hit directly across the X that was on its face. The attack wasn't anything that Metagross couldn't handle this early in the battle, though it did cause it to lose its balance, and fall back a few feet. The battle was only just beginning, and it was already looking pretty interesting.

OCC: @Ebail Glad to see you’re still alive after Irene. Also, please describe the “battlefield” in more detail before I start, so I could avoid learning later that a move like Agility would have caused problems for my Pokemon. (I probably would have still used it, though.) Unless that means that I can describe the battlefield later (which means that I could create describe field that is more advantageous to me, so I don’t think that is the case).

IC: Metagross sped around the small room in order to get more momentum in the cramp quarters. The room was much smaller than I had previously thought before. Metagross began moving at such a speed that the gas in the room started to rotate around Weezing, but only slightly.

As this was going on, Weezing was following Metagross with both sets of eyes; however, I noticed that he did have a blind spot, since the two heads could only see relatively in front of themselves, only gaining about a 35 degree extra sight before having to turn to get the extra 145 degrees. Though, being that Proton was around five feet tall, only a foot taller than Weezing, meant that Metagross was only absent from his gaze for a few seconds. Proton would have to get a lot faster before being disappearing from everyone’s gaze.

Metagross moved at a crack of a whip towards Weezing. It started spinning on its side, fists coated in the red glow I described earlier. Weezing didn’t try to beat Proton’s speed after seeing it race around himself, but instead Weezing began to inflate, his cheeks puffing up as he drew the surrounding air and gas into himself. The punches began barraging Weezing’s main head so hard and fast that the smaller head even began to wince in pain, crying out. But the main head, where most of Weezing’s non Poison-type attacks originate from, didn’t let go of its breath.

Metagross’s attack was over, and Proton started to back away from Weezing for some reason. In this unnatural moment of being off-guard, Weezing released an orb of dark byzantium-colored energy towards Metagross. He must have been preparing the move as Metagross was attacking him.

The Shadow Ball hit Metagross in its golden mustache-/eyebrow-like X, but the attack didn’t seem too strong, as Weezing was being attacked and couldn’t concentrate on releasing a full powered ball.

Proton was pushed back a bit, regardless, and without looking back it said, "Sorry that I was caught off-guard."

“It's alright, Proton. Respond with a Meteor Mash,” I commanded.

Metagross would lift his right arm over his head/body. What would be considered his fist would light up in a white/light-yellow flow. As he would veer towards Weezing, the arm would leave a trail of stardust behind it. When Metagross was in striking distance, the glow would turn into a silhouette of a golden meteor, and Proton would punch Weezing in the face. When the attack made contact, the star would burst into an array of multicolored meter-shaped particles, dissipating after the blow. Given that Metagross’s speed was increased from the effects of Agility, this would all happen much faster than it would normally, but that didn’t mean I could count on Weezing just taking it.

“If he tries to attack you head on,” I continued, “use Iron Defense. But, if he starts to prepare a ranged move like that Shadow Ball, you use the effects Agility to get out of the way, and then use Agility again to race around the room. He has a blind spot. Find it!”

Metagross were supposed to be as smart as a supercomputer, but faster. So, there was no doubt in my mind that Proton could tell if Weezing was inhaling for another attack or moving closer. If Weezing tried to smash into Metagross, Proton would bask itself in a coat of blue light, an aura. It would pull its arms closer to its body to spread the attack over a larger surface area, reducing the recoil and damage it would have felt in just one location. The defensive attack would leave an extra layer of protection that would last for a while.

However, if Weezing was preparing another ranged move like Shadow Ball, Metagross would use its speed to rush out of the way. It should be harder for Weezing to keep track of Metagross as it circled around, trying to increase its speed a second time. The attack would still probably hit; Weezing was a though Pokémon to deal with in this room, but hopefully the speed boost would increase Metagross’s chances in the long run.

OOC: @sorocoroto Well I wasn't descriptive because in an earlier post I said we were heading for some old lab rooms, so as such you'd use your imagination to think that a room smaller than an open field. I mean its not like its a little school classroom, its big enough for a battle, but you'd still be keeping in mind that it is a room and there wouldn't be a ton of space. But I will describe some stuff more this post.

IC: Jesse seemed to be communicating with his Metagross after it had been attacked by Weezing. This was understandable, he probably just wanted to make sure it wasn't hurt too bad. A battle in this room was a bit unusually though; there had still been been tables, as well as test tubes still in here from the days when this room was a lab, and like with many other parts of the plant there were loose wires laying around. This was why a Poison-type Pokemon such as Weezing would hang around here. There could have very well still been some lingering chemicals around, so a battle with Fire-type moves in this room could have been catastrophic. The ground was pretty cramped up, but since both Pokemon could float they really had no trouble battling in midair, though they still didn't have a ton of room to move around.

“It's alright, Proton. Respond with a Meteor Mash,” Jesse commanded his Pokemon, but before it had a chance to act Jesse added more on, “if he tries to attack you head on,” I continued, “use Iron Defense. But, if he starts to prepare a ranged move like that Shadow Ball, you use the effects Agility to get out of the way, and then use Agility again to race around the room. He has a blind spot. Find it!”

I couldn't help but think that he was giving his Metagross too many commands at once, and it was bound to get confused. Even if Metagross was very intelligent, having too many commands at once could make it mess up its order of moves, though I doubted this much. Of course there was the chance Metagross would be attacking, and not have the chance to defend. Guess time would tell.

Metagross started to use Meteor Mash. It was an interesting attack, to see, when the attack was used the whole surrounding area would change to look as though it were space, and several images of meteors would appear. It was an attack only learnable by Clefariy, Deoxys, Metang, and Metagross. It somehow related to space. While I knew that Clefairy, and Deoxys were it really got me to thinking how was Metagross related to space? Maybe it had something to do with it being similar to a super computer. I was really curious, though right now was not the time to be thinking about that because Weezing was preparing a counter move.

As Metagross got near Weezing to strike, Weezing fired out a Smokescreen. Now, while Metagross' ability would prevent any loss of accuracy in terms of battle, it still didn't stop the Smokescreen from filling the room with smoke, making it hard for Metagross to see things that were not Weezing.

Meteor Mash did hit Weezing, cause it to let out some noises in pain, and fall back a few feet. But, this wasn't the end of Weezing yet, it was certainly planning a retaliation attack. It was pretty hard to see what was going on with this Smokescreen around, but I could faintly make out what was going on. Weezing had released a pink, and purple wave of energy. It was Psywave, a strange move, whose power could always end up changing.

Metagross was more than capable of seeing this through the Smokescreen though, and headed down the ground to avoid the attack. Unfortunately for it though, as it tried to avoid the attack, it didn't see a loose wire on the floor, and tripped over it crashing against a table. It had been so worried about avoiding Weezing's attack it forgot to take the surrounding area into effect. Jesse would need to be careful with what it told Metagross to do, otherwise something like this could happen again.

IC: As expected, Weezing countered by exhaling a Smokescreen attack. Both of Weezing's heads and the numerous holes around his body released the black haze throughout the room. The attack was always confusing to me. While it wasn’t poisonous and in fact a Normal-type attack, it was common for Fire-types to use. It must have been related to fire somehow, so it should react like a Smog attack and cause an explosion.

Though, it wasn't going to do much to Metagross's stats, since its Clear Body Ability prevent its stats from being lowered, but it did well to hinder its sight from the rest of the room.

Metagross could still see Weezing, though. Both Pokemon were large compared to most Pokemon, but still about the height of a regular human being. Metagross's Meteor Mash attack still hit, since Weezing could move very much as he released the gas. The waves of star- and meteor-shaped dissipated the SmokeScreen around Weezing long enough for me to see that his face was swelling up and turning black and red from bruises. The battle was going well.

But then, Weezing started to vibrate. The smoke pulsed away from Weezing like how you always see sound-waves portrayed in movies and anime. When the smoke was pushed away, pink and lavender waves were being emitted be Weezing's body. The waves compounded, and I knew what it was. The Psywave curved along the smoke that remained near the bottom half of the room, like an Arbok snaking its way for a kill. The wave was even hissing as it reacted against the smoke.

Metagross was able to see the wave coming and used its speed to duck out of the way. But it tripped on something, and I heard a large crash.

“Proton, are you ok?” I called out into the smoke.

The SmokeScreen was escaping through the doorway that Gary and I were standing so we could watch the battle. Punpun and Gary's Ambipom were still behind us, holding their breath to avoid coughing away the smoke. They didn't have the Clear Body Ability. Also, I noticed that the SmokeScreen had carried a bit of Weezing’s natural poison gas with it into the hallway.

For a second, I was afraid that the gas would react to the flames on Gary's Chandelure, but Chandelure just floated there, its fire not reacting at all to the flammable mixture. I guess it was just like a Ponyta's or Rapidash's flames; it could or couldn't react to things like touch or gas depending on the Pokemon's preference. Unless it used a Fire-type move or wanted its flames to burn, it wouldn't cause the mixture of Smokescreen and natural poison gas from Weezing to explode. I guess that means that just because my Ender was out, she wouldn't just blow us up on accident. But I didn’t want to test the theory now.

I closed my eyes. The smoke wasn't clearing nearly fast enough for me to react swiftly without using this power. At first I thought it was just a fighting technique that I picked up from my sensei, Kevin, who just so happened to be our family's butler. When I concentrated, I could activate an inner eye of sorts, which meant that I could see through illusion and smoke like this. Later I found out that was due to one of my Babel powers, which mimicked the Normal-type move Foresight. Now it really only worked when I knew what I was trying to search for, i.e. if I thought there was an illusion or if I knew there was a gas like this obstructing my normal vision.

To any onlooker, it would have just seemed like a blinked half a second longer than normal people. But, to me, my vision became red, and I could see through the smoke. I saw a snapped wire, which Metagross must have tripped over, and a broken lab table, which it landed on. However, Metagross was still looking tough as ever. Like one wire would do that much to him. But, there were various other wires around the room that could pose some trouble colectively for Metagross. It was a pity that I couldn't share this knowledge with it without having to explain every single wire and obsticle. That would make things a lot easier.

But alas, I had to deal with them as it seems like the smokescreen would linger around a bit long.

I thought about what I had done during my last visit to the Island. I faced a Walrein right off the bat. He was a formidable opponent, using the snow and ice around him to amplify his attack. But I was able use his moves against him using a plethora of techniques that I had developed over my years of training. Though, there wasn't a lot of room or materials for a "Manly Display of Brotherly Love" attack, at least none that Metagross could use right now. Plus, I should wait to reveal those attacks. But I could try a "Psychic Bash" attack! Metagross didn't have to keep dashing in to attack Weezing. It could just bring Weezing to him.

"Proton! Use the Psychic Bash!” Metagross should remember this combo move that we pulled off a number of times before.

Metagross’s arms would rise up and get surrounded by a blue psychic haze, as would his eyes. It would pull Weezing towards himself. While Psychic can be used in many different ways, it’s primary, and therefore easiest to pull off, function is to lift the opponent into the air and move it around at will. The blue glow would form around Weezing. Being a Pokémon that levitated, one would think that it could resist it a bit easier. But this wasn’t a Confusion attack. This was a Psychic attack from a Psuedo-Legendary Pokémon.

Either way, though, Metagross would attempt to pull Weezing towards it with the Psychic attack. The second half of the attack was trickier. Metagross would try to use Zen Headbutt at the precise moment that Weezing would connect with Metagross’s large steel 1200-pound body. Metagross’s concentration would have to switch from his psychic to will power. See, at the moment that Weezing would hit, the glow around Metagross’s arms would focus around the top of his semi-round head, forming a sort of cap of light blue light. It should act as a shield that would smack into its enemy head first.

However, Metagross would have to time it within a two-second window or else be subject to some recoil from the momentum of Weezing hitting him. Even though Weezing was only twenty pounds, not even two percent of Metagross’s weight, the added momentum could still do some damage.

Metagross knew the risk, but it also knew that this Weezing was crafty, countering our techniques before allowing us the chance to try to counter his. Hopefully this combo would surprise him a bit, and if not, the one of the parts of the combo should have some effect, as Weezing was weak to Psychic-typed moves. And also hopefully, the Smokescreen would clear the room through the crack of the walls, ceiling and floor and through the doorway.

IC: Metagross was pretty lucky, I mean its increased size made it feel some damage from tripping, but due to being a Steel-type it didn't feel as much damage as it could have when it tripped. And luckily it tripped on the other side of the room, otherwise it would have came crashing into us.

Jesse made sure his Metagross was alright, but it was probably just a precautionary thing, because there was no way a Metagross could be defeated so easily. Still though the same could probably be said about Weezing. Some Pokemon out there have learned very well how to defend themself when needed, and if Weezing was desperate enough it could very well use Selfdestruct, or Explosion, either move wouldn't just make Weezing unable to capture, it would cause massive damage to the Power Plant, especially being in a lab. This was the kind of chance you had to take though, and you needed to be ready for anything.

Jesse looked around for a few moments, noticing Ambipom, as well as his Lopunny trying their hardest to hold their breath so they wouldn't cough. After looking around at them he seemed to go into a state of thought, maybe he was trying to think of a way to clear the smoke, or maybe he was just planning his next attack.

"Proton! Use the Psychic Bash!” he commanded his Metagross. I couldn't help but wonder just what exactly was a Psychic Bash. I mean, it was no doubt some sort of combo attack, and the Psychic part was fairly obvious, but what would the rest of the move be? Maybe it was a combo of Psychic and Meteor Mash, I wasn't really sure but I guess I would find out.

Metagross rose its arms, and its whole body begun to be surrounded by a blue aura, and within a few moments its eyes also changed to a shade of blue. The entire area of the room was now turning purple as it does when Psychic is used. Though this next part was rather different, instead of Weezing being thrown against the wall or something, it was instead drawn towards Metagross. This must have been part of the idea from the combo, it would draw Weezing in close, and then attack. It was a good idea in theory, but Weezing was struggling to break free, and when Metagross went to use its next attack, Weezing would no doubt have a slight opening to attack in some way.

As Weezing got closer to Metagross, Metagross' head started to make some sort of shield, and turn a shade of blue. The energy would just keep circulating around its head, and I couldn't help but understand now. Rather than fly at Weezing and attack, Metagross was going to draw Weezing towards it and attack with a Zen Headbutt, it was a great idea.

Weezing was in range, but as Metagross has to let down the Psychic, Weezing's body seemed to turn somewhat, and right before Metagross was able to strike Weezing hit Metagross underneath its body with its extra head. The image of the attack looked like a hand of darkness smacking Metagross, Weezing was no doubt using Assurance. Though it wasn't enough to stop Metagross who seemed unfazed, and still hit Weezing with Zen Headbutt. The attack sent Weezing crashing into the ground, causing a surge of air, and it managed to blow all the smoke from the Smokescreen out of the room. Though now that the attack was done, Metagross seemed to be showing the effect of being hit by Assurance, but I'm sure it wasn't anything Metagross couldn't handle. It was a lucky one though, had Weezing hit after Zen Headbutt Metagross would have felt more damage.

IC: The first part happened just like I predicted. Metagross was able get a psychic hold on Weezing. Weezing fidgeted against the almost invisible grasp of Psychic but was pulled closer towards the giant silver Pokémon all the same.

Things were starting to look good, but Weezing was able to pull the smaller head behind himself. Weezing seemed to want to be pulled now. Metagross noticed this and started to form the shield as he was still pulling Weezing towards him. The shield’s power needed more concentration to grow, which is why it was usually supposed to wait until Psychic was over, but Metagross knew that this was the better plan of action in the given situation.

Weezing drew closer on his side, and his smaller head started to radiate a black and purple glow. It was odd tom how every attack that involved darkness needed a shade of purple for it to stand out. It was probably because Dark-type attacks weren’t necessarily evil, a concept which was often associated with the type.

Weezing was within range, so Metagross released the Psychic hold. It concentrated its willpower towards the blue shield of Zen Headbutt, increasing its size three fold in a mere second. Though, it wasn’t as powerful as if he had enough time to charge it to the max. Weezing took this time to slam the smaller head into Metagross chin. The impact caused a small blast of darkness from the Assurance attack. However, it seems like Metagross was able to surround his whole face, which was also its body, and pad against the effect, if only just a little bit.

Metagross was too focused on its own attack and returned the favor by smacking its own head into Weezing’s body with the Zen Headbutt. Metagross put all his force into the move and sent Weezing tumbling into the floor. The quick impact and large size of Weezing cause a gust of wind to blow away all the smoke left from the Smokescreen, leaving Weezing in a small crater of tiles.

Afterwards, I could see Metagross favoring one side of its body, as it was sure to have felt the effects of Assurance. It was a good thing that Metagross’s Steel-type helped to negate his Psychic-type’s weakness to Dark-type moves. Though, that didn’t meant he didn’t feel such attacks.

Weezing was looking weak, but he wasn’t backing down. It was inspiring. I didn’t want the battle to end, but I owed it to Pokémon like this to be fair and not hold anything back.

I searched the room and was now able to see the layout clearer. It was an old abandoned lab room; one of the smaller ones used more for meetings than experiments. Still, there were tables with some notes spread all long the floor. There were some metallic chairs and wiring from the electrical sockets and overhead lights. There was a projector with a bunch of slides sprawled next to it and a chalk board with some complicated formulas and machine specs drawn upon it. If it only had a map for this place it might be useful. Maybe after the battle, Gary would let me examine the rooms for any clues to the whereabouts of any Pokémon nearby.

But right now I had to make a move. I wanted to use another combo move, but Weezing would expect the “Psychic Bash” attack. Even if it connected, Weezing might not have been able to survive it. I could use one of “those” moves. The room had a lot of metallic objects, but it also had a lot of wiring. This was going to be a problem. I couldn’t draw upon the electrical power of the wiring, because it could spark an explosion. They seemed to be inactive, but I couldn’t just risk causing an explosion. I was already at risk of that with Weezing here. That means that even if I try to use a “Manly Display of Brother Love” attack to draw in the surrounding metal, the wiring would also be pulled, if Metagross used its Magnet Rise attack.

Hmmm… At least Metagross could see all the obstacles now. I couldn’t waste any more time thinking. I would have to act quickly to get another attack in while Weezing was down.

“Proton, use Metal Claw, but be careful of wiring in your way!” I shouted after the smoke had cleared my face.

Metagross would have to dodge around a wire or two to get to where Weezing was. Its front claws would flash white with a stroke of blue as it dashed through the air. When Metagross got closer, it would power up the attack to the max, causing gray static to appear around its claws. Metagross would then slash at Weezing’s faces with its right claws.

Weezing would no doubt try to avoid it or counter it somehow, which I’d be disappointed if it didn’t. However, Metagross would have two glowing claws, and therefore a second slash in order to get the most out of Metal Claw. I trained Metagross this way, instead of using all four of its claws, so that it wouldn’t have to turn its back to the enemy in order to strike them. However, by just using the front two claws, even if the energy was transferred to them from the rear claws, the attack wouldn’t be nearly as powerful. That was the tradeoff for playing thing defensively.

Metagross was standing tall after that last move, not only did it hurt Weezing pretty badly, but it also managed to clear out the smoke from Smokescreen. This was a great maneuver, because while Metagross would never have lost its sight on Weezing due to Metagross' ability, it wasn't able to see the whole room clear as day, but that was no longer a problem. Now that the smoke was cleared, Jesse checked out the surrounding area now that the smoke was clear. He made it a point to notice the stuff like wires laying around, he made that clear with his attack.

“Proton, use Metal Claw, but be careful of wiring in your way!” Jesse commanded his Metagross. This time around he gave it a pretty straight forward command. No fancy combos, or tricks, no special defense instructions, just an attack with the simple warning of watching out for wires, which was a pretty fair warning considering Metagross had tripped over one earlier in the battle.

Metal Claw was probably a good move choice right now, because Weezing was weak, and a move such as Psychic could end up doing too much damage to it, causing it to be unable to capture. Weezing was pretty slow to get back up, it was struggling after the impact Zen Headbutt made it have into the ground. This was a great chance for Metagross to strike, and not have to worry about any obstacles like wires getting in its way.

Metagross' claws started to change from blue, into a shade of gray, or silver, this was relatively common with any Steel-type attack. It's claws also started to sharpen, this was also a common effect from a move that used claws. Metagross would get close to Weezing, and once it was in range it would take its claws, and would essentially scratch Weezing with them, causing it severe discomfort, some pain, and possibly even raise Metagross' attack, though at this point in time that part would be unneeded.

Weezing didn't want to be right in the path of Metagross' attack, but it was too weakened to get out of the way. It had no choice but to take the attack, or so it seemed. Weezing mustered up what strength it could, and it actually used its own body as a shield. As Metagross went to claw Weezing, Weezing used its extra head to smack off the claws from Metagross' attack. It had used Double Hit to counter Metal Claw, now while this didn't really do much damage to Metagross, and it did still cause Weezing pain, you had to admire its dedication, it did what it could to negate some of the damage. But still this took its toll on Weezing too, it was short on breath, and it could now barely get back up. It would only be a short while longer before Weezing could be caught, or was defeated.

OOC: @Ebail Hopefully it is clear enough that I want to throw the Pokéball in this post after the attack in this post.

IC: Weezing was stumbling to get up. He was coughing up smoke and not from his mouths. I was feeling bad for him. I just wanted to take out my Chansey and nurse him back to health, though I don’t think it was allowed to heal Pokémon after they were captured in the park. I could always ask Gary afterwards.

“Too bad, you’re a regular Nurse Joy,” Kitsu would say in this situation. I cared about the well-being of Pokémon. How does that make me any different than the countless other trainers around the world? Alas she is still in Kanto. Maybe she can come here one time with me. I thought that I heard something about two trainers going through the park together. Again, something I could ask Gary after this was all over.

Back to the battle at hand.

As Weezing was well… wheezed, Metagross managed to bypass all the obstacles now that the smoke had cleared. Metagross’s claws flashed from cyan to silver, sharpened to a nice gleam and extended by half a foot due to the energy coursing through them.

Weezing couldn’t dodge, but he could still get an attack in. He lifted his extra head just a bit, and it started to vibrate. I wasn’t sure if this was because of some technique or because of all the pain he was feeling.

As Metagross struck towards the main head, Weezing bashed his smaller head, which winced expecting the pain which was to come, towards Metagross’s claws. The forces of the vibrations caused the extended lengths of claws to shatter, leaving behind a glittering cloud of silver dust. As Metagross went in for the second claw attack, Weezing just countered the same way. Both times, the two head cried out in anguish. Metagross jumped back, still keeping his eyes to Weezing after getting hit by a Double Hit.

I surveyed the damage. Metagross’s claws weren’t damaged, the power of the Metal Claw attack taking the bulk of the counterattack. However, Weezing was not in that good of a position. Since Weezing used his own face to block the sharp edges of Metagross’s blades, three large slashes appeared on the front and back of the smaller head.

Weezing was exhaling less gas now, a sign of severe internal damage to his chambers of poison, which also acted as his lungs. Despite his brave efforts so far, I feared that he might do something drastic. Explosion was his most devastating attack. And if he was to use such an attack, even if it was the slightly weaker version, Self Destruct, it would have dire consequences, both on my chances of capturing a noble Pokémon and my chances of continuing my park run. If I’d let Weezing blow up a chunk of the Power Plant, I’d have that on my conscious and on my record. Destroying a part of the Park was a serious violation, even if it wasn’t directly my fault.

If I couldn’t capture Weezing in time or if I couldn’t contain the blast in time, I would be the one to blame. I know this, because the last time I didn’t stop an Explosion from happening, someone I knew was killed. Metagross and I were in the almost exact situation: a tight spaced room, a heavily damaged opponent, that time an Electrode, my best friend Kipper, who I had met at the beginning of my journey, and his girlfriend, Tina. It was my fault, because I was too preoccupied with defeating the opponent that I didn’t care for the safety of those around me. When Electrode was about to explode, Kipper ran to pull me out of the way. He pushed me behind some covering, but was going to get hit by the blast. Tina, who always felt like she didn’t do enough for us, stood in front of him and took a piece of shrapnel to the heart. She died in his arms.

He forgave me, that was the kind of person he was, but I still can’t face an Electrode in battle. It just brings back too much bad memories. If we come across one here, I would run… no matter what.

But right now, I needed to try to capture Weezing. I kept thinking that I needed one more hit to help my chances out, as if some battle instinct deep within me was saying to strike one last time before I threw a Pokéball. And it was following those instincts that got me to through most of my toughest challenges.

Again I found myself questioning which move to use. Combos were out of the question, that was a given. Both Confusion and Psychic were right out. Metal Claw would put too much strain on Weezing, and he would be ready for it, though I didn’t think he would use the same technique to counter it a second time. Wait I got it. I needed a swift move. I needed to use Bullet Punch again.

When I first used Bullet Punch, I mistakenly used Agility in the close quarters, increasing the time it took before Metagross could start Bullet Punch. In that time Weezing’s could prepare to counter it. Hopefully if I just used it straight up, Weezing would be tired enough to block the attack.

However, I needed to deal with the possibility of Weezing using Explosion during the attack. A month after Kipper’s girlfriend died, I was able to develop a technique to try to deal with the attacks, thanks to the help to Z, my Shiftry. Metagross would use Psychic to create an aura of psychic force in a bubble surrounding the user, keeping the barrier about two to three feet away from the Pokémon using the move. Though Metagross was only able to contain a Self-Destruct, it could contain a good portion of the blast, injuring Metagross, but protecting the room from most of the blast.

That’s it. My mind was made up. I pulled out a Super Parkball, meant for catching harder prey. I thought about using the Ultra Parkball, but they were reserved for Pokémon in their 3rd stage; Weezing was a part of a 2-stage evolution, so hopefully the Super Ball would work.

“Proton, use Bullet Punch,” I commanded.

Metagross would spin around like a top this time. Its arms would glow bright red, creating a circular almost neon-like effect. With its increased speed from its first move, Agility, Metagross would impact Weezing, hitting it with flash-quick punches. Hopefully it wouldn’t knock it out, since it the rest of its moves were much more powerful.

Right after Metagross attacked, even if Weezing retaliated, I would throw the Super Ball. If Weezing started to use a move that would blow himself up, I will throw the Super Ball right away. Hopefully I would catch it, but even if I didn’t, it would give me enough time to tell Metagross what to do.

“Metagross, Psychic Containment!” is what I would say.

Metagross would emit its purple aura and raise all of its hands towards Weezing. The purple bubble would form far enough away from Weezing so he wouldn’t get damaged by the Psychic waves itself. The bubble would shine like the light you see hit the bottom of a swimming pool, but if the water was purple. Then I would pulled Gary and make sure all the rest of our Pokémon were at a safe distance before closing the door. I’d look through the window Gary first looked through before opening the door to see what would’ve happened.

Hopefully Metagross would be able to contain most of the blast. Oh how I prayed that Metagross wouldn’t get too hurt if it came to that, but I learned from back then. No one was going to die.

Metagross struck Weezing head on with Bullet Punch, just like earlier. Metagross moved fast, its fists changed colors, and it punched Weezing several times in its body, sending it flying at the wall. Due to being increased in priority, Weezing had no chance to retaliate quickly due to being weakened, and before Weezing even had much of a chance to collect any of its wits and retaliate Jesse threw one of his Superballs at Weezing, causing the ball to impact on it, and have Weezing be sucked into the ball. Weezing did try to struggle to get out of the ball, but alas it was all useless. Weezing was too weak, and tired out what little energy it had left trying to escape, because of this Jesse had caught Weezing.

"Congrats once again," I said to Jesse. He had already caught a second Pokemon on this run now, and we weren't very far into it at all, that was pretty rare to have happen. I went over to where Weezing's ball was laying, picked it up, and placed it in my pocket.

"Alright, you take this time to make sure your Metagross is alright, and everything, and I'll go take care of one little thing I need to in the meantime, and we'll continue once you're ready," I told Jesse as I went out into the hallway for a moment. "You did great work Chandelure, I'll be sure to call on you again if we need you," I said to my Chandelure, as I returned it to its ball, grateful of the good work it did lighting things up. "Well then, shall we continue Jesse?"

IC: Metagross rushed towards Weezing with lightning quick punches. This time, Weezing either knew he couldn't dodge or was too weak to try. I cringed as I hear him cry out over and over again.

Metagross finished his attack and moved out of the way. I threw the green Super Ball at Weezing, enveloping him in a red light. I almost saw his faces smile as he was turned into energy. The ball sucked him in, wiggled thrice and rang out the trademarked "ding" sound.

"Congrats once again," Gary said as he picked up Weezing's Pokeball and placed it in his pocket.

"Thanks, I'm glad that things didn't get too out of hand," I said. I looked over at Metagross, and it looked like it was still doing pretty well, just a bit banged up.

"Alright, you take this time to make sure your Metagross is alright, and everything, and I'll go take care of one little thing I need to in the meantime, and we'll continue once you're ready," he said as he went out into the hallway.

I went into my pack and pulled out a Super Potion that I bought from the old shop before they decided to go with natural remedies. Hopefully it still worked, or else I was down a lot of money. I sprayed it on Metagross and saw the bruises on its skin start to shine and then vanish.

    "Thank you, master," it said.

I turned back to see Gary still in the hallway talking to his Chandelure. I also saw that Lopunny had walked into the room to see if Metagross was alright. The two were good friends and a good combination in double battles at times.

"You're welcome," I whispered to Metagross before returning it back to its Pokeball. I turned to Lopunny. "You think you can help me search the room for any notes or maybe floor plans? Maybe we could find something to help us through the Power Plant."

Punpun nodded, remembering that I couldn't respond to anything more than a simple reply.

We searched the room for any papers that weren't destroyed or that seemed like drawings. I looked at the slides in the projector, but they were just pictures of the different sections of the park. After a little I couldn't find anything, but Punpun found a few documents that survived the encounter, searching the one table that wasn't smashed in by one of the large Pokemon.

"Well then, shall we continue Jesse?" Gary asked as he walked back into the room.

"Sure, but hey do you think any of these papers would help us navigate through the plant any better?" I asked as Lopunny handed him the documents he found.

Jesse was ready to keep going. While I was out of the room he had healed his Metagross back to full strength, and he and his Lopunny had been looking around. After asking if Jesse was ready to continue, he turned to me and said, "sure, but hey do you think any of these papers would help us navigate through the plant any better?

"Well, I already know my way around here, because that's part of the ranger training, but you're more than welcome to hang onto those if you want. If you keep them maybe you'll see a specific area you want to go to when we reach a, for lack of a better term, fork in the road," I said to Jesse, and with that we were off yet again.

I lead Jesse back the way we came, though now that Chandelure had already made the way light for us the first time, traveling back wasn't so bad. Even if it was dark I knew there was a no threat of a Pokemon attacking us in the dark, but now that I thought about it since we were back at the hallway where we were before coming down to the lab rooms it made me need to ask Jesse something.

"So, which way would you like to go now? To the left, or to the right? Different ways will lead to different areas; one direction might lead us to a room with some old machinery, and the other would take us to some old conference, or computer lab rooms," I informed Jesse, waiting to hear which path he'd like to take.

Oh well, it was worth a try. We went back the way we came, which was easier now that we knew the path. We reached the hallway where I captured Shinx and then Gary asked a question.

"So, which way would you like to go now? To the left, or to the right? Different ways will lead to different areas; one direction might lead us to a room with some old machinery, and the other would take us to some old conference, or computer lab rooms."

I thought about what kind of Pokemon I would encounter in each. The old conference room might have another Poison-type Pokemon, while the computer lab room might have a better chance to get a Steel- or Electric-type Pokemon. The machinery room could have anything; the idea of it didn't really help me narrow down a specific type. So either way would result in the same way in my mind.

But which would be best to battle in? A machinery room would need a lot of space for the machine, but I would have to be careful of which Pokemon I would use. Metagross is too big if the machines were too close, and it just battled. I'll probably save him for later. Lopunny and Charmeleon would be able to get through any space that humans could, so they'd work. Muk would be able to get through anything.

"I've decided; let's go towards the machinery."

"I've decided; let's go towards the machinery," Jesse told me.

"Alright, there we'll find Electric and Steel-types most likely. See the Steel-types are obvious, and the Electric-types in the past powered up the machines in there, and now several of them make that area their home," I told Jesse as I started leading him along the way.

A lot of the Power Plant looked alike, and if you didn't know your way around you could easily revisit the same parts over and over again. I wasn't worried about that though, because I knew my way around here. Along the way we passed several things such as, various test rooms, a kitchen, and bathrooms. Each individual area could easily be home to one, or several Pokemon, but for now I was just focused on taking Jesse to the areas with the old machinery.

We came infront of a room filled with cold steel, and machines. "Well we're here, not lets see what we find," I said to Jesse.

It was only a matter of moments before I heard the growls of a Pokemon, I couldn't help but think it was a very familiar sound, yet more aggressive; I couldn't quite put my finger on it. That is until a Pokemon appeared before me similar to one from before. It had a mixed body of blue, and black, with its upper half being blue, it had two yellow rings on each of its front legs, yellow eyes, and yellow on the inside of its ears, the excess fur on its head was black as if it were wearing a mask, and it had a star shape on the end of its thin tail.

"Well, I know you already faced a Shinx, but would you happen to want this Luxio?"

IC:"Alright, there we'll find Electric and Steel-types most likely. See the Steel-types are obvious, and the Electric-types in the past powered up the machines in there, and now several of them make that area their home," Gary explained as he led me down the particular hallway.

Everything started to look familiar, but I think it was because of the design choices of the architect of the plant. Gary didn't seem to hesitate, though, as we went down hall by hall. We passed by some test rooms, a small kitchen area and some bathrooms. I laughed a bit, because I just expected some type of Pokémon to jump out at trainers who wandered in there to relieve themselves.

Gary seemed to bypass each one, but soon he announced, "Well we're here; now let’s see what we find."

I heard the familiar growl of a Luxio nearby. The evolved form of Shinx appeared before us. He looked like a larger, not quite as cute version of the light blue and black Pokemon I had first caught. The four-pointed star tail was longer, the black collar of Shinx had grown over the back of his head to accentuate cover the little blue tuft of fur and around the side of his head like a scarf, and each front leg had an additional yellow band on them.

"Well, I know you already faced a Shinx, but would you happen to want this Luxio?" Gary asked.

I thought about it. I had already had the pre-evolved form with me, and I would probably train it enough that it would evolve into a Luxio, anyways. Plus, Kitsu had a male Luxray already, so they might butt heads if I leave him at her place. But at the same time, I might not have the opportunity to face a National Park Luxio again.

Another thing was that I haven’t had the chance to survey the area to determine which Pokémon was best to use yet, as Luxio just showed up as we entered. If I make a mistake right out of the gate, I could damage the machinery.

“No, let’s just let it pass by. I need get a better lay of the area first before I want to battle. I need to be cautious.”

“No, let’s just let it pass by. I need get a better lay of the area first before I want to battle. I need to be cautious,” Jesse said to me. It was understandable, he already had a Shinx, so why would he want a Luxio?

"Lets see if we can get around this without any trouble," I said to Jesse. We started to continue walking, and Luxio just kept its eyes on us, and growled as we passed by. "Well it doesn't appear like it will be a threat so lets go see what we can find next," I said, as I lead Jesse along the way. As we went by we passed some more machinery; the feeling emanating off of the cold steel wasn't feeling right, it felt like something was there among the steel.

I looked around for a minute, and tried to investigate the scenery. Nothing seemed out of place, though I did hear something that sounded like machinery running. I couldn't help but think this was weird, because none of these machines should have been running. I soon found out my answer though, it had been a Pokemon doing this, a silver colored steel one. It was composed of three gears, one of them seemed to have a face, with one eye, and an x where the other eye should have been, its mouth open, and a green round nose. One of the other gears had another round green area like its nose.

"Well, would you like to battle this Klang?"

OCC: @Ebail 1)Are we going by the new MCR of the new Borderline? I’d like to know how hard I must work. 2) Genderless Klang, Obviously ;)

IC: "Let’s see if we can get around this without any trouble," Gary said.

He and I walked passed Luxio, who just kept watching us closely.

“That’s right, just walk on by,” the lion-like Pokémon said.

“Well it doesn't appear like it will be a threat, so let’s go see what we can find next," Gary said.

He walked ahead, and as I followed, I turned to see Luxio walking into a little alcove. There was a little Shinx, who popped its head out and curiously looked at us. It was considerably smaller than the one I had captured.

“Who is that, brother?” the little one asked as the Luxio stood next to it.

“That’s the trainer who captured our little sister.”

The little Shinx glared at me, growled and started to head towards us, ready to fight.

“No,” Luxio said, placing his paw on Shinx, halting it. “This is the way it has to be, little one. Our sister fought valiantly and was captured.”

“But… it’s not fair.” Shinx began to cry.

“You’ll come to learn. Come on; let’s go before they decide to come back.”

The two scampered off. Again I found myself cursing my Babel ears. Even though they didn’t fight me, their words hurt a bit all the same.

That’s it. If I happen to capture two more Pokémon, I’ll release Shinx back to her family. All these Pokémon have families; I’m not going to deny that. But when I see a little Pokémon crying over a lost one, it just gets me right in my beating chest.

I hurried up to catch up to Gary. We were passing by the large machinery. The looked like they weren’t running, which makes sense as there weren’t any people to run them. Even if the Electric-type Pokémon came around, I would think that they would want to just feed off the static electricity. If they did power them up, that would be an interesting thing to see.

I felt another presence amongst the dead machinery. I could tell that Gary sensed it too. I must have been thinking too loud, because now I started to hear the sounds of grinding gears. They sounded too loud to be some remnant parts of the machinery moving.

Gary started looking around before focusing in on a spot. I followed his gaze to what I thought to be the side of a machine. However, I was mistaken as the object in question started to float towards us.

"Well, would you like to battle this Klang?" Gary asked.

A Klang… This must have been one of those Unova Pokémon that I’ve heard about.

It looked so cool, but that must have been because it was new to me. It resembled an arrangement of three gears. Two gears were grinding against each other. They each had six teeth and a teal circular dome in the middle, though one was bigger than the other. The one with the smaller dome had a grey-like circular face, one eye that was a “normal” one while the other was a small “X” and a small black mouth. The other gear connected to a larger gear behind it with eight teeth. If you looked at it carefully, it seems like the smaller gear acts like the nose of the bigger one. As the bigger gear rotated, I saw that it also had two eyes, a black circle-shaped and a black square-shaped eye. That face’s mouth looked like a white circumflex symbol, the one that appears when you hit Shift-6 on a keyboard to denote powers in mathematical functions.

Needless to say, I was very intrigued about how this Pokémon native to the Unova Region Fought.

“Hells yeah!” I responded, reaching for my belt.

Now which Pokémon to use… Klang seemed like it was put together like a Magneton or Metang, and it also seemed like it had a metal body, so it was definitely a Steel-type. However, was it also an Electric-type? I guess I’ll deal with that when the time comes. Also, there seemed to be enough room for her to move around, her being my Charmeleon, Ender.

    “Let’s go, Ender!”

Charmeleon appeared in front of us. She was a Shiny Pokémon, which rare to find. Her brilliant golden scales shone brightly against the red light she appeared from. She looked like a bipedal lizard with a horn on the back of her skull and an elongated snout. She had sharp claws and a long tail, the tip burning brightly with a large flame.

I had to think which move to use. Maybe I should use an Ember attack to start off. I began the command, but then stopped myself. I thought about what would happen.

Charmeleon’s flame would spark up, and her mouth would start to emitted red waves. She would pull back her head and then release a barrage of fireballs from her mouth towards Klang. The balls of fire would small, maybe the size of cherries, but they would be many in number.

I sniffed the air, didn’t smell any gas around or see any stray wiring here. But barrage of flames might hit some of the machinery, melting them. I should go for a more concentrated blast, like Flame Burst. But even then, small embers might spark off the impact.

    I know!

    “Use Fire Fang!”

Charmeleon would run towards Klang, her teeth radiating fire, causing her mouth to be engulfed by flames. Charmelon would then open wide and crunched down on Klang’s body. The heat of the attack would cause Klang’s body to melt for an instant, allowing the bite to do more damage. The attack left Charmeleon vulnerable if she wasn’t in trouble, though. It was a risk I knew she was willing to take.

Jesse had been interested in facing this Klang, I don't know why but for some reason it really seemed to capture his interest. He would need to be careful though, among this machinery Klang could easily find areas to hide. This could lead to Klang doing some sneak attacks, this meant that Jesse would need to think crafty while he battled.

“Let’s go, Ender!” Jesse said as he threw his Pokeball in the air. From it came a Charmeleon, a Pokemon perfect for facing a Steel-type such as Klang. This was no ordinary Charmeleon though, no, rather than being red like other ones, this Charmeleon was more of an orange/yellow one in color. This meant that it was a shiny Pokemon, a very rare occurrence indeed. Though whether or not it was shiny wouldn't change the battle at all, so I was curious to see what Jesse would do first, especially with this machinery around.

“Use Fire Fang!” Jesse commanded his Charmeleon.

This was a pretty understandable way to start off the battle, this meant Charmeleon would keep Klang close range so it couldn't escape, and hide among the other steel. It also meant Klang could be burned, or even flinch. And to make things even better for him this would also keep Charmeleon from using so much power that it melts some of the machinery that Pokemon might make their home, or use still.

Fire Fang was a move in the serious of bite type moves. The user would open its mouth, and its teeth would start to turn a bright shade of red, the Pokemon using it would then jump at the opposing Pokemon, and along the way its mouth would erupt in a blaze. When the Pokemon got over to the other one it would take a big crunch out of the opponent, making it feel the bite, and flames from it.

Charmeleon launched itself at Klang, but Klang wasn't going to sit there and do absolutely nothing. It started to form a small bolt of energy in front of its face, within this bolt traces of electricity could be seen. As Charmeleon got closer the bolt grew and grew. Klang was preparing a Thunderbolt, and it was set to go off the second Charmeleon hit it. Thunderbolt was a good attack in deed. It would strike the opposing Pokemon with a bolt of electricity, causing it to circulate around the Pokemon's body, and even possibly paralyzing it.

Charmeleon sunk its teeth right into Klang, and you could see Kling wince in pain, but it was focused on Charmeleon, and it was able to fire off its Thunderbolt, causing Charameleon to step back and try to shake the attack off. The battle started, but both Pokemon already used some powerful moves, and neither side had gotten a benefit from either. I was curious to see how Jesse would keep battling a Pokemon he might not know much of anything about.

IC: As Charmeleon rushed towards the Steel-type Pokémon, Klang’s gears started winding fast. The friction from the gears caused them to start to spark between the faces. I began to think that my suspicion that Klang was like Magnemite or Magneton where true, as it seemed like Klang was about to use an Electric-type move. The spark wildly grew bigger and formed into a ball of electricity in front of Klang’s face.

Charmeleon was unwavering, though. She continued her charge, the flame on her tail rising as she charged her Fire Fang attack. Charmeleon’s mouth started to emblaze in a white glow. She sprung herself off the floor to get more momentum and twisted her head around, causing the fire-like aura to trail around her like glow sticks in a dance club.

Klang just kept building up its attack, which grew to the size of a grapefruit in front of the bigger gear. I realized that the attack was a Thunderbolt, but it seemed like Klang was holding onto it until the right time presented itself, probably when Charmeleon was the closest.

Charmeleon sunk her teeth into Klang’s smaller head, causing it to turn red from heating up. I could see steam rise up from where the attack hit. Klang’s pair of eyes winced in pain, but then they stared right at Charmeleon with a hint of vengeance in them.

The chaotic yellow and white orb fired a stream of electricity towards Charmeleon. The Thunderbolt crackled and sparked as it smacked right into Charmeleon’s neck and head. Charmeleon released her grasp and jumped about three feet back in order to try to compose herself. It seemed like she wasn’t paralyzed, but it also seemed like Klang didn’t receive the secondary effect of Fire Fang.

It was a shame, as it was always easier to catch a Pokémon if they had some status conditions on them. Maybe I should have started with Inferno. It was one of the most powerful Fire-type moves, with one of the highest chances to inflict burn on a Pokémon. However, the move took such a long time and effort to prepare, and even if Charmeleon had enough time to produce the large pillar of blue fire, she would still have to locate Klang and fire the large column of fire towards it. One, Klang would have probably either countered or hid amongst the machinery, and two, the extremely powerful attack was sure to damage anything that it even remotely came close to.

I was still able to keep close Charmeleon close to Klang, though. I didn’t want it to get too far away. But, Charmeleon didn’t have any other close range Fire-type attacks, and Klang would be better able to counter Fire Fang after it saw it the first time. But what to do next… Charmeleon’s other close range attacks were all Normal-type moves, which Steel-type Pokémon like Klang would resist.

I had an idea. Whenever Charmeleon used a Fire-based attack, her tail would grow in size. I could use that to my advantage.

“Ender, use Ember, but concentrate all the energy in your tail and then strike Klang with it.”

Charmeleon understood. Her tail would rise up, but instead of her mouth shining red flames, her tail would grow and surround itself in a red aura, representing the intense heat that was being built up in it. The flame would continue to grow to the size of watermelon. Charmeleon wasn’t that far from her target, but would take a few steps to make sure she was in range of the Unova Pokémon. She would then whip her tail back and forth, smacking Klang’s steel-body.

I wasn’t sure if I should throw a Pokéball after the attack. I made sure I knew which pocket my Super Balls were in, but I think that I needed to wait until I evaluated the damage done to Klang by this hybrid Ember-Tail Whip kind of attack. I knew Charmeleon didn’t know how to use Tail Whip in the way that it was supposed to lure the opponent into a false sense of security, lowering its defensive stats, but she had a tail, so why couldn’t she try to attack with it?

But even if it did work, I felt that I would have to attack Klang once more in order to secure a capture.

Jesse had been thinking of what he should do next. It was understandable; one hand he didn't want Charmeleon to do such a powerful attack that it knocks Klang out, but on the other hand he didn't want to damage Klang so little that it gained the upper hand.

“Ender, use Ember, but concentrate all the energy in your tail and then strike Klang with it," Jesse commanded his Charmeleon. This wasn't a bad idea, it was a relatively weak attack, but by having Charmeleon use the attack via the flame on its tail it would probably increase the strength of the move a little bit more.

Ember was a pretty simple attack. The Pokemon using it would generally spit out a small flame at the opponent, causing it to spread when it came on contact with the Pokemon it was to hit. It was far weaker than Flamethrower, but it did have the chance of causing a burn still. In this situation it was the right choice of moves.

Charmeleon, rather than release a flame from its mouth, started to charge up energy in its body. It was then surrounded by a red blazing aura, and the flame on its tail doubled in size. It set its sights right on Klang, and launched itself at the steel Pokemon. Klang, however wasn't going to just do nothing. It do made an attack of its own, it had been forming a minor wave of energy within its mouth. In this energy traces of electricity could be seen charging the beam. Klang was once again ready to fire the attack once Charmeleon got close to it.

It was an instant of a back and forth struggle. Charmeleon was smacking Klang with its tail repeatedly, while at the same time Klang was firing its Charge Beam all over Charmeleon. This could have ended bad for Charmeleon; Charge Beam had a pretty high chance of increasing the Special Attack of the Pokemon using it, and Klang did in fact look stronger as the attack was happening. Both Pokemon finished attacking the other at the same second, it was something extraordinary for sure. It was almost as if both sides planned for the attacks to go this way, and keep the battle as even as possible. Neither side was beaten yet, but both were weakened, and that fact that the battle to this point had all been close combat made it certainly a lot more interesting. This was going to have a good ending, that was for sure.

OOC: @Ebail Attempting to catch it; also, in future encounters, could you tell me what the difficulty for the mon when I first encounter it, since I don’t remember what they were before the change?

IC: Charmeleon cried out, as it seemed like yelling helped when charging up a move for some reason, and she became engulfed by a blaze-like aura, rising up through her golden scales. Her tail burned brighter as it seemed to absorb the aura that she was releasing and the Charmeleon dashed towards Klang.

Klang’s larger gear started to spin faster and faster. The smaller head opened its little black mouth wide, the static electricity building up inside it. The energy formed into a surging yellow wave that was ready to fire. Of course, Klang would wait until Charmeleon struck first before releasing the move point-blank.

Charmeleon leapt in the air and turned, smacking Klang repeatedly with her large flame-emblazoned tail. The hot temperature of the tail created red bruise-like markings on Klang’s metallic body, but it did not yield nor stop its charge.

Klang’s larger gear stopped spinning almost immediately, and then the smaller gear released a giant wave of electricity at Charmeleon. Charmeleon’s body was hit by surges of electricity, but she didn’t back down either, landing a few more fire slaps. Right as the wave stopped streaming, Charmeleon’s aura returned to normal, and the two faced each other once again. However, the attack that Klang had just used, Charge Beam, had left residue static electricity on Klang, which it could then use for extra power later.

Klang looked tired, but still raring to go. It was a good thing that I held off on using a Pokéball until after Charmeleon’s next attack. But, yes, I was going to attempt to capture it right after the next move.

The two were at a standoff. It was interesting. I hadn’t noticed it before, but there was a certain pattern arising. Charmeleon would attack close range, and Klang would just take it. Klang would then fire off a ranged attack right when Charmeleon was close enough to dodge it. Klang wasn’t using any tricks or combination moves, just straight up go blow for blow. It never tried to dodge an attack. I could use that.

“Ender, wrap this up with Ember from a distance this time.”

Charmeleon nodded for she knew that I meant that I was going to throw a Pokéball right after the two traded blows.

The two Pokémon were still close to each other, and if my theory was correct, Klang would prefer to take the attack head on or fire off its own attack to counter it. It hasn’t tried to attack from a distance, yet, and if I was right about its nature, it wouldn’t. Plus, this way, it would create and epic climax to an already awesome battle.

This time, Charmeleon’s aura would focus around her snout. Her flame would increase in size, yes, but the energy would well up from her fire sac deep within her body, up her throat, be increased by the air from her lungs and finally released directly at Klang’s body in the form of baseball-sized fireballs. It would release a short barrage, before clearing the way so I could use my Pokéball to try to catch Klang. I hoped that the move wouldn’t knock Klang out, but as the last Ember was being enhanced by the added blunt damage from Charmeleon’s tail, it seemed like a safe bet.

Just in case Klang decided to dodge out of the way, though, I readied Kingst’s, my Gastrodon that battled against Shinx earlier, Pokéball in my left hand. I could use his Water-type attacks and mud to put out the fires. However, I think that it would be unnecessary.

In my right hand there was a Super Ball, the same type of ball used to catch Weezing. Now, I wasn’t sure if this Klang was a basic or a 1st stage, but it didn’t seem like it was fully evolved yet. So, a Super Ball was a safe bet for now.

The two Pokémon would use their last attacks, damaging each other.

I activated the moss-colored camouflaged Super Ball for capture and then threw it towards Klang, praying that this will be the first Unova-based Pokémon I would be able to add to my team.
