    ~~~~~
    I was wandering through the cave system in Meteor Valley. Well, technically not "wandering". I was looking for Ranger Cameron. Some poachers had been sighted in the Botanical Gardens, and Cameron was one of the most experienced Poacher Response Rangers. He was supposedly taking a Trainer through Meteor Valley, so I'd been sent to take over.
    I was walking through the cave known as the Cave of Illusions. It was a favourite haunt of the local Ghost and Psychic types.
    Even as I thought this, I heard an insane-sounding chuckle echo throughout the cave.
    Wonderful, I thought dryly.
    I followed the sound, and sure enough I found Cameron and the Trainer. They were staring down multiple Baltoys - either that or a single one using Double Team or something.
    As I walked up, I saw a Rotom phase through the cave walls. I wasn't sure of that strategy - it left the Trainer themselves open for attack.
    I quietly walked up to Cameron and tapped him on the shoulder.
    "There are poachers in the Botanical Gardens, sir", I told him.
    He muttered darkly, turning and leaving the cave.
    The Trainer didn't even notice as he was waiting for his Rotom to emerge from the wall.
    And then it did so. Spectacularly.
    It emerged from the wall behind the Baltoy, and it launched a massive horizontal waterfall from its hose.
    The water smashed into the Baltoy, and all but one fizzled out of existence. The remaining one struggled to float back into the air.
    Once it was hovering back at its natural height, it placed its hands together, like it was praying. The entire cave began shaking, and the ground under and around the Rotom began quivering.
    I was shocked, and yet impressed by the ingenuity of the Baltoy. Normally, Rotom couldn't be hit by Ground-type attacks, but the enclosed area of the cave made it possible.
    The quivering ground burst open, and steaming hot jets of... something... burst up from the many holes, attempting to cover the Rotom and stop it from escaping.
    “Yeah! That’s how we do it!” Sec shouted as Rotom’s aquatic jet blasted the Baltoy clones into oblivion.
    All but one of the Baltoy had vanished after being struck by the Hydro Pump; leading Sec to believe that they were in fact clones rather than a real pack of Baltoy. The last remaining Baltoy lay faced down on the ground, soaked and mutilated.
    Sec began cheering again quickly. He was starting to get worried about the battle and was even starting to wonder if he could win it or not; twenty against one really isn’t the best of situations. It wasn’t until Sec realized that a new presence was amongst him and his Rotom that he became embarrassed and quieted down.
    “Ummm…Hi, I’m…” Sec began, though he was shortly cut off by a loud humming noise.
    The remaining Baltoy slowly rose from the ground while emitting an eerie buzzing sound. The Pokemon‘s body began to flash with an ethereal violet color as the entire cave began shaking and crumbling. Debris began to fall from the top of the cavern, Stalactites began falling and piercing the ground below, and large cracks began to form in the ground surrounding Rotom.
    Suddenly, the ground burst open and something began to shoot from the newly formed holes, surrounding Rotom.
    Sec could tell that he was in trouble as soon as the ground had begun shaking, he had to take precautions to ensure that Rotom would be alright.
    “Rotom, use Substitute!” he shouted from across the cave.
    At the command, Rotom slowly faded from existence and a similar looking decoy was put in its place.
    With a substitute up, Sec figured that when the odd material closed in to strike, the substitute would break and then Rotom would reappear unharmed. Sec also decided that since he knew Rotom could still hear him, he’d set up his next offensive plan of action now.
    “Rotom! Once the Baltoy’s attack has ended I want you to Thunder Wave it! Cripple it with your electrical bliss!”
    Sec knew the plan was risky, he wasn’t even sure if it would work; after all, ground types are immune to electrical attacks. However, the Baltoy was still drenched from the Hydro Pump attack; therefore, since water conducts electricity, Sec believed that he might just have a chance of nulling out the immunity. He watched on and waited to see…
    "Rotom, use Substitute!" the Trainer called.
    I was impressed by the Trainer's quick thinking - ordering a simple dodge would probably have resulted in much more damage considering Rotom's typing.
    Rotom began fading from sight, and with a small puff of smoke, Rotom's substitute appeared. It looked like the Rotom, except the little electric sparks that surrounded it didn't move, and it looked much more cutesy that the actual Rotom.
    The Substitute appeared just in time, as the attack splashed all over the Substitute. From the look of the substance, it appeared to be boiling hot sand.
    The sand splashed all over the cave. Parts of the cave began to steam as the boiling hot sand was affected by the cold cave walls.
    “Rotom! Once the Baltoy’s attack has ended I want you to Thunder Wave it! Cripple it with your electrical bliss!” the Trainer ordered.
    Lots of boiling sand was over the Substitute. It wobbled a little, then fell, bursting when it struck the ground. It released a small plume of grey smoke, and the broken parts of the Substitute faded from sight.
    As it did so, the Rotom faded back in. It made that echoing naughty giggle again, and it began emitting blue waves of electricity. Most missed the Baltoy, striking the cave walls, but a couple hit the Baltoy. Little sparks danced across the Baltoy, being conducted by the water. The Baltoy started twitching.
    Despite the twitching, it managed to spread it arms wide. A light purple mist began coalescing in front of it, forming a four square metre panel of light.
    Once that was done, it began humming very loudly. Purple and black auras danced around it, whirling and spinning like the lights in the clubs on the mainland.
    Whatever the Baltoy was preparing was going to be big...
    Sec watched carefully as the telekinetic toy danced with the evilly colored energies that swirled around its body.
    Purples, pinks, blacks, and reds muddled together to make an ethereal mess of power. Soon, that power would be right in Sec’s Rotom’s face if he didn’t act quickly.
    The attack was charging, which meant that Sec would have only a short time before it would be launched. He had to hatch a plan quickly if he was going to escape this blast. Suddenly, an idea hit him and Sec jumped into action immediately.
    “Let’s give this thing a taste of its own medicine…” Sec muttered under his breath. “Rotom, use Double Team!”
    Thus began Sec’s plan. Rotom immediately began dancing from side to side, around and around; it moved so quickly that it seemed as if one hundred Rotom were speeding around the cave. Finally when Rotom stopped, the copies stayed in place.
    “Let’s see how it likes dealing with clones!” Sec chuckled, “Now, spin around it in a circle as quickly as you can. When you’re confident that you can strike without harm Sucker Punch it hard!”
    Sec’s hope was that the Baltoy’s paralysis would slow it down to the point where it wouldn’t be able to turn quickly enough to follow the real Rotom as it and the copies raced around the enemy in a constant circle. Eventually the speedy Sucker Punch of the real Rotom would have to strike and throw off the oncoming attack or it would have to chance the attack and risk missing and destroying one of the clones instead. Sec crossed his fingers.
    The Rotom clones then began to race in their constant circle…
    The Trainer ordered his Rotom to use Double Team, which was a great idea. Considering that the Baltoy was paralyzed, and so its movements were slowed down, this could be the battle-winning move.
    The Rotom started moving around the Baltoy really fast. It looked like there were fifty or so Rotoms all swirling around the Baltoy. The Baltoy's Light Screen moved erratically around the Baltoy, as the Baltoy wasn't sure which Rotom was the real one.
    The Trainer then told his Rotom to use Sucker Punch, which was again a stroke of genius. Whatever the Baltoy was preparing would be stopped in its' tracks by the combination of paralysis, low HP and a supereffective Dark attack.
    Except that was obviously what the Baltoy was counting on.
    The multicoloured auras swirling around the Baltoy came to a stop in front of it, and the Baltoy pushed the lights out using its arms.
    But it wasn't aiming at the Rotom.
    The lights flew into all the corners of the cave, where they flared and stretched before disappearing.
    The instant they disappeared, everyone hit the floor. Literally.
    The gravity increasing technique of the Baltoy's affected everyone. The Baltoy itself crashed into the ground, but so did all the Rotoms. Every single one hit the ground with a deep thud. And considering Rotom's principle form of movement is levitation, it was in trouble.
    The combatants weren't the only ones affect by Gravity. The Trainer and me were forced into the ground. I came up spitting dirt, and I inched my hand down to my belt, where I tapped on a PokeBall.
    My Dusknoir, Specialle, was released, and she was having trouble staying upright.
    "Specialle, cancel out the Gravity around us," I said through a mouth of dirt.
    She spread her arms wide, and a dark tinted sphere erupted from her centre, enveloping both myself and the Trainer, but stopping far away from the combatants.
    The Rotom was trying desperately to move, but its square bottom and lack of physical muscles meant it could only move in small jumps and hops. The Baltoy was lying on its side, jerking and spasming as the Paralysis affected it.
    But the water was drying out, and while the paralysis wasn't going anywhere soon the Baltoy would soon be able to resist it alot better.
    “Pffffff!” Sec spat, as he tried with all of his might to lift his head.
    The Baltoy’s gravity increasing blast had sucked everything to the ground of the cave’s floor, including Sec and his ranger. Unfortunately for Sec, Rotom’s Hydro Pump attack had left a few little puddles scattered across the cave floor and his head had been dragged right into one with the increase of gravity. Sec gargled and drowned in the puddle for a good fifteen seconds before Ranger Chainy’s Dusknoir was finally able to reverse the flow of gravity around the humans.
    Sec stood up, gasping for air as he was finally free from the drowning torture of being stuck head first in the water. Finally able to refocus, Sec turned his attention back on the battle. Rotom was still stuck to the ground and thanks to the way its body was formed, was completely stationary now. However, the clones were all still active, and as such the Baltoy still seemed to be surrounded by about fifty little ghostly turrets.
    The Baltoy lay on the ground in the center of the fifty angry Rotom. Its paralysis was strengthening its hold on the clay doll Pokemon at the moment and as such the Baltoy was temporarily immobilized; Sec hoped that this meant a free attack for him.
    Sec was beginning to change his plan of action. Originally he had been trying to escape the Baltoy, but seeing what it could do in battle had made Sec eager to capture it. Therefore, he was going to need to get it as close to death as possible without knocking it out, unlike before when he was just trying to destroy the little Pokemon.
    “Rotoms, use Dark Pulse!” Sec commanded, though still wheezing for air.
    The special attack had initially seemed like a bad idea to Sec due to the Baltoy’s Light Screen; however, wanting to capture the Pokemon, he know aw the barrier as a blessing that would keep the super-effective dark-typed blast from knocking out the tiny psychic Pokemon.
    Within each of the possessed washing machines a dark power began brewing, it stirred and twisted and thrived as Rotom giggled maliciously and harnessed all of the devious energy it could pull from within its soul. Suddenly, the washer door of each Rotom flung itself open and a zippy black cloud slipper from within the Rotom and floated up above the Baltoy, where in they all formed together to create one large swarming mass of darkness above the Pokemon.
    Sec watched the mass of evil intently as he waited for it to drop…
    "Rotoms, use Dark Pulse!" the Trainer called.
    All of the Rotoms began giggling, and little flashes of darkness began emanating from inside their bodies.
    The Baltoy lay on its side, spasming in the dirt. Slowly, despite shaking quite badly, it managed to balance itself upright. And even as electric sparks danced around the Baltoy, it raised its arms and brought them crashing towards the ground.
    "Earthquake!" I yelled.
    Without even having to be ordered, Specialle started keening softly, and we all rose about half a metre off the ground. Even as we did so, I summoned my Gallade, Dual.
    "Dual, keep the Earthquake away from the walls," I ordered.
    Dual nodded, and he punched the ground. Purple lines of light erupted around his fist, and they sped along the ground towards the cave walls, emitting purple sparks as they did so. When they reached the walls, they grew and covered the walls snugly, like plastic wrap. The Earthquake was weaker than usual, more similar to a rolling wave in the ocean than a moving force of pure pain.
    Even as Specialle was lifting the non-combatants into the air, the Rotoms launched their attack. Their chest-doors opened and dark clouds of energy flew up to the ceiling of the cave, which was being covered by Gallade's Psychic protection.
    The dark cloud grew, and when the last bit of energy had been absorbed, it flattened into a large sheet so that Baltoy could not escape.
    It smashed into the Baltoy.
    The Baltoy was sent flying by the attack, but it did not go too far. As the dark energy began dissipating from the floor, I noticed an area that was light gray. From the grayness burst the Light Screen, and it retreated to the Baltoy, placing itself between Baltoy and the moving shockwave of earth.
    The Earthquake emanated outwards from where the Baltoy had struck. A few of the Rotoms had already been thrown into the air, and they had burst into puffs of smoke mid-flight.
    Specialle gently gripped my right shoulder, and suddenly my vision was tinted blue. One of the Rotoms at the back of the pack was glowing red. Obviously, that was the real one.
    The shockwave travelled outwards, destroying more clones as it did so...
    Sec watched as the Baltoy’s earthly shockwave ripped through his army of Rotom clones. Each ghost was sent hurdling through the air only to disappear mid flight. Clone after clone evaporated into nothingness as Sec’s gravity stricken Rotom was left to sit and wait to be struck. Suddenly, Sec was struck by a single idea; it was the only thing that he could think of that could save him from the impending attack.
    “Rotom, Hydro Pump the ground!” Sec shouted quickly, hoping to reach his ghostly pal in time.
    Hydro Pump released more water pressure than a fire hose. Sec’s only hope was that it was enough water pressure to propel Rotom up off of the ground for a moment while the Earthquake passed underneath it.
    The one real Rotom pointed its Hydro-cannon arm at the floor and instantly started pumping straight down, trying to shoot itself up above it impending doom. Sec had one more thing to shout to the Rotom before the Shockwave reached it and the found out if his plan would work or not.
    “Rotom, after this is over I want you to send a mild Ominous Wind Baltoy’s way! Just a small one, we only need to damage it a little more!”
    With that, Sec watched on…
    "Rotom, Hydro Pump the ground!" the Trainer shouted.
    The Rotom pointed its hose at the ground, and fired a stream of water at the ground. The water forced Rotom into the air.
    But not fast enough.
    The wave of earth just clipped the bottom of the Rotom, sending it spinning in the air.
    The Rotom took this to its advantage, opening the little door on its chest and sending purple waves of mist at the Baltoy.
    The Earthquake hit the walls, but was immediately forced down into the ground, flattening it out. I sighed in relief: the cave wasn't going to collapse.
    The purple mist wound around the Baltoy's Light Screen. The Baltoy began coughing, but was affected heavily by the paralysis, so it could not move.
    Sec let out a sigh of relief when he noticed that the mild Earthquake had only done mild damage to Rotom. Upon the attack striking his electrical ghost he hadthought that the Pokemon would have been a goner.
    “Rotom, come back to us,” Sec called out to his ghost as it finally landed on the ground again.
    The possessed washing machine hopped and wiggled its way back to Sec, as it still could not float due to the increase in gravitational pull towards the floor. Upon reaching its trainer, the giggly, devious, plasmatic form turned to face the Baltoy, standing with its guard up as if it were protecting its trainer.
    “Here’s what we’ve been waiting for,” Sec muttered gently as he pulled a Super Ball from his pocket. Sec threw the ball at the Baltoy as quickly as he could na dhoped with all of his might for a capture…
    The Baltoy lay spasming on its side as Rotom hopped slowly back to us. When it entered the sphere of antigravity that Specialle was maintaining, it began flying around in the air again.
    “Here’s what we’ve been waiting for,” the Trainer said quietly, and he threw a Super Ball at the Baltoy.
    The Ball spun through the air, tapping the Baltoy on the side of its' head. the Baltoy was converted into a red plasma, and sucked into the Ball.
    The Super Ball shook on the ground as the Baltoy fought the capture mechanism. The release catch on the front of the ball flashed red as the the struggle continued.
    After a particularly violent shake, the Ball stilled and the catch glowed a bright red before fading.
    Specialle lowered us onto the ground and dispelled the antigravity sphere. The intensifying move the Baltoy had used had disappeared when it was captured.
    "Good job," I said to Dual and Specialle as they returned to their PokeBalls. I then walked over to the Super Ball laying in the dirt.
    "I'll hold onto this for now," I said to the Trainer as I picked it up.
    "By the way, we actually haven't been introduced yet," I said as I extended my hand. "My name is Chainy, and I'll be going through with you from here on."
    Even as I said this, a tiny bit of the cave wall crumbled away, exposing the outside. The darkness was beginning to fade, showing that true dawn was maybe a couple of hours away.
    "Well, on that note, where do you want to go?" I asked the Trainer, with my hand still outstretched. "Through the cave system some more, or out into the open?"
    Sec looked onward into the deep depths of the cave, then looked backwards towards the dim light of the entrance that could be seen in the distance. On one hand, this cavern creeped him out tremendously and he couldn’t wait to leave; but on the other hand he just had the feeling that a cave such as this one had to hold some secrets deep within that could definitely be worth investigating.
    “I’m Sec,” the trainer said with a smile, “and I want to head deeper into the cave. I have a feeling there are some great things to be send down here” Sec replied as he pulled a Pokeball from his pocket. “Rotom, Return,” he shouted as the ghost was engulfed in a shining crimson light and returned to its Pokeball.
    Sec then called forth his Infernape and commanded it to light its hands ablaze which it did instantaneously. The fire cackled and echoed off as it shimmered against the cave walls. The gorgeous flames seemed to light up the whole room with reds and oranges that made the area visable.
    “We can use Infernape’s flames to light our way. I’m sure it’ll begin to get really dark as we go deeper into the cave system,” Sec commented.
    With Infernape’s flaming hands and mane lighting the way, Sec began walking off towards the next section of the cave, ranger at his side.
    The Trainer introduced himself as Sec, and while he seemed like a pleasant guy he didn't shake my hand.
    I mentally shrugged. He might have mild OCD or something.
    Sec said that he wanted to explore the cave system a little more, and he swapped Pokemon so that his Infernape could light the way.
    We followed the trail out of the Cave of Illusions, and deep down into the crust of the earth. I was about to pull rank and have us go backwards when I heard strange trilling moan.
    Infernape raised his hands higher, and we saw a little Duskull phase through the wall, and look at us, bobbing gently in the air. It moaned a greeting, then bobbed down the passageway in the direction we were travelling.
    "Duskull up for grabs," I offered.
    Sec watched as the ghostly floating skull hovered around the area in which they stood. A slight chill rolled down Sec’s spine as the empty eyes of the skull-like face caught his gaze for just a moment. Sec looked back for just a second to notice that the creepy little ball of fear had a glowing eye of sorts which bounced back and forth between its two eye sockets.
    “Ugh,” Sec muttered as he shuddered away again. “That thing is a bit creepy. No offense, I know you have a Dusknoir and all, but the empty eyes just kind of freak me out." He told his new ranger. "Infernape, try to scare it away with a deep Roar so that we can move on.”
    Infernape inhaled a deep breath, then, without warning, it bellowed a deep and powerful growl that could have scared the petals off of a flower. The monstrous growl howled throughout the cave, echoing off of the walls, and growing progressively louder as Infernape continued to screech. Sec could only hope that the Roar would be enough to scare away Duskull so that they could continue along their path.
    Infernape's Roar echoed throughout the tunnel. Tiny pieces of rock fell off the ceiling from the pure force of the sound.
    The Duskull looked back at us, a little shocked. Then, still watching us, it phased back through the wall it had entered, with a decidedly neutral air.
    I laughed.
    "Looks like he wasn't too impressed," I remarked.
    We continued walking through the tunnel. It had levelled out, and if anything we were travelling slightly upwards.
    Suddenly, the tunnel began shaking. It wasn't violent, more like being in a building next to a jackhammer.
    Sounds also bounced throughout the cave. They mostly sounded like moans fused with a screams and maniacal laughter.
    I didn't particularly want to find out what was making them, but there wasn't any other way to travel, so we kept moving forward.
    The noises and shaking continued, and they grew louder and more violent as we walked. My eyepiece picked up some movement ahead in the dark, but whatever was making it was too small to see clearly.
    A tiny little Ralts came tearing down the passageway. It looked scared out of its mind. It saw us, and immediately ran over to me, grasping my leg tightly.
    "Whoa there little one," I said gently, "what has you so scared?"
    It looked up at me, then pointed towards the passage it had come from. It then ran over to the tunnel wall and curled up in a small alcove, still shivering with fright.
    I didn't particularly want Sec to engage in a battle with this frightened little Pokemon, but rules were rules.
    "Do you want to try and capture a Ralts?" I asked Sec, taking a step back, allowing his Infernape a clear run at the shaking little figure.
    The tiny creature curled itself into a ball in a small nook in the dank cave. Something horrible obviously lurked deep within this cave system; horrible enough to scare all sense out of this little Ralts at least. The Pokemon’s bowl shaped, olive colored head hung down in sorrow as a tear rolled out from underneath the mushroom like top and slid down its cheek. The whimpering Pokemon rocked back and forth vigorously as it held its knees and shook with fear. Not only did the Pokemon appear to be in a state of complete Shock, but its normally pearly white body was mud covered, torn, and slightly bloody. The Pokemon’s knees and elbows were visibly scraped through its ripped white sleeves and flowing leggings. The poor thing was a complete tattered mess.
    “The poor creature…” sec muttered as he watched in horror as the Pokemon shook and cried. “I almost want to catch it just to get it out of this cave… Whatever is down there must be terrifying…”
    Sec took a glance down the dark hallway, but it was pitch black. Without actually going down the hall with his Infernape’s light he wasn’t going to be able to see what had scared the tiny Ralts and beaten it up so badly. Sec was going to have to go down that hallway and find out what had caused this, he couldn’t just let it sit down there and beat more Pokemon into shock like this; however, Sec had to take care of this Ralts first; he couldn’t just leave the poor thing here to die or be attacked by something else.
    “As awful as it sounds I’m going to have to fight it,” Sec said as he looked over to Chainy. “Not only is capturing a Ralts the reason I came here in the first place, but there’s just no way I can leave such a disheveled Pokemon to just lay there like that.”
    Sec looked back to Ralts as he thought about how to go about fighting the Pokemon. He obviously had the benefit of being able to pull off a surprise attack since the Ralts was too in shock to notice the attack coming. Sec’s only problems were that, being so scared, the Ralts may try to run away and that he wanted to be as gentle with it as possible since it already looked so abused.
    “ Alright Infernape, let’s be careful about this!” Sec ordered the blazing monkey. “First, set up a circle of Stealth Rocks on the ground around the Ralts so that it can’t get away. Once that is set up, I want you to summon a Grass Knot from the ground and set it ablaze to hit the Ralts with!”
    The primate stood in front of his trainer, listening intently to the orders that he was being given. Once his briefing had been complete, the blazing animal leapt forward and darted towards the Ralts. Just a few feet away Infernape stopped and pounded the ground in an odd pattern, sending shockwaves hurtling through the earth. Suddenly, long jagged pieces of rock jutted from the ground around the Ralts and created a field of spiked rocks that the Ralts would be unable to cross. Then, Infernape summoned a long grassy vine from the ground which writhed and thrashed in the air like a wild snake. Infernape blew a long pillar of flames from its maw which engulfed the Grass Knot ablaze. With the entire plan set, Infernape set his flaming whip hurdling towards the Shocked Ralts.
    Sec felt bad watching all of this go on, he really hadn’t wanted to fight the tattered and beaten little creature. However, Sec knew that without this, he couldn’t capture the little Pokemon and without capturing the Ralts it would have to remain in the cave to be beaten on even more by other ferocious Pokemon. Sec had to fight the Ralts for its own good.
    OOC: You should try to put a NBP or two inbetween encounters so I can build up some length before the battle starts xD Even if I am writng 3.5k long posts, its gonna get hard to meet the MCR of higher ranking Pokemon going off of just the battles xD Even now I have to make these posts obnoxiously long like this to meet the 9k requirement for Ralts xD Not really a big deal, I just though I'd make the suggestion to make our lives easier, especially if there are any intermediate or rare Pokemon on my encounter list. :D
    OOC: Wow, didn't think of that. Good call. However, a massive MCR might not be required for the Ralts (^^), I've got kind of an over-reaching mini-storyline planned out. Also, gender plz.
    ~~~~~

    Sec explained to me that the whole reason he had come to Meteor Valley was to catch a Ralts, and that he just didn't want to leave the poor little thing in this condition, so he intended to battle it anyway.

    I thought it over, and that made sense. If this Ralts had any family members, they would surely be fleeing with it. Besides, I thought with a small smile, the Ralts evolution line did totally own up.

    I watched silently as Infernape set up a mini trap of Stealth Rocks so that the Ralts could not escape. I didn't think that would stop it though: Ralts were extremely adept at teleporting, almost as good as Abra.

    Infernape then summoned a writhing vine from the ground and set fire to it. As always, I was impressed by the flexibility and ingenuity that Trainers show in the Park, and by Infernapes in general. I also sensed that this Grass Knot + Flamethrower combo was a common one for Sec to use, which was fine. It was a combo that I wouldn't have thought of, I acknowledged ruefully.

    When the fiery whip was complete, Infernape quickly smashed it into the Ralts. The sheer force of the whip pushed the Ralts into the ground.

    The Ralts keened, and it looked up, obviously taking in the sight of Infernape and us two humans. It then moved its head slightly, and I could tell that it was looking closely at Sec.

    It's little red horn flashed a gentle pink, and it disappeared in a flash of blue light.

    "Wonderful," I remarked ruefully, "the little thing has run off."

    But a squeak alerted me to the fact that I was wrong.

    I turned, and was almost knocked over in surprise as I saw the Ralts clinging to Sec's head, standing on one of his shoulders.

    "Come on now little one," I reprimanded it, "you can't interfere with the Trainers like that."

    I walked over and tried to lift it off of Sec's head, but it keened again and stayed latched to his head.

    "Huh," I said as I scratched my head. "Apparently, he doesn't want to fight."

    "Well, what now?" Sec asked me. The Ralts was still attached to his head, hiding its horn in Sec's hair.

    I scratched my head. "Well, I suppose this is technically a surrender," I ventured. "However, I don't think it'd be wise to get Ball-happy just yet. Maybe if you just comfort it and let it tag along, you might be able to calm it down and capture it without a fight. That way you wouldn't risk it fleeing mid-battle. However, it is weakened now..."

    I kicked at the ground, thinking it all over.

    "I dunno man, it's your call," I said. "You could continue the battle now, taking advantage of its current weakness but risking a flight attempt, or let it tag along and see what happens."

    OOC: You forgot Ralts’s HP in your post :x

    “Agh,” Sec shrieked in a surprised manner.

    Something had appeared right out of thin air and latched on to the back of Sec’s head. It didn’t particularly hurt at all, it just felt awkward and it had surprised him. Sec could feel whatever it was ruffling through his hair and holding on tightly, as if it was to terrified to let go.

    Ranger Chainy soon walked over and tried to grab the unknown thing from the back of Sec’s head; however, as soon as he reached out to grab whatever it was, it let out a screechy keen which caused Chainy to flinch and then grabbed Sec’s head even tighter. Chainy may no have been able to get the thing off, but at least now it knew what it was. That keen was he keen of the Ralts that he had just been battling, and now I was latching onto his head, rubbing its red horn through his hair.

    Chainy pointed out that the Ralts didn’t appear to want to battle and Sec agreed. The Pokemon didn’t want to battle, it wanted protection, and if they continued to battle it then it would probably run off scared. Sec decided that the best course of action was to just allow the Ralts to tag along with them. If he protected the Pokemon and managed to defeat whatever had abused it so much, maybe the little Ralts would come home with Sec willingly.

    Sec reached behind his head and grabbed the Ralts with both hands. He picked up the tiny mushroom-headed Pokemon and held it in front of him, smiling at the little creature.
    The shaken up psi Pokemon whimpered a bit, gave a shudder, and then looked up at Sec. It seemed to content itself, almost as if it felt protected in Sec’s arms. Sec realized that this is what he was going to have to do with the Pokemon for now. Capturing it would only scare it further.

    “Let’s check out the hallway,’ Sec said, his new pal snuggled tightly in his arms, “I want to find the beast that did this!”

    Sec smiled at his new Ralts companion one more time before ordering Infernape to take the helm of their pack and light their way into the cave. The four of them, trainer, ranger, Pokemon, and Wild Pokemon, began walking even deeper into the unknowns of the cave system, now on a mission for revenge for their new friend.

    OOC: Yeah, I didn't mention health because it technically wasn't a battle post. Don't worry, though, if you battle the Ralts later on it will still have the damage that the Infernape did to it. Also, again, Ralts' gender please.

    ~~~~~
    We continued walking along the tunnel. It was slowly inclining upwards, so I figured we were traveling upwards along the side of Meteor Valley. The ground shook every so often, and if I strained, I could hear the strange moaning. I had an idea what it was, but I'd really rather not consider that possibility.
    Infernape was leading the way, lighting the tunnel with his fiery mane. Small insects scurried away from the light, retreating into small holes and crevices. At one point, I had to re-summon Dual so he could cut through a thick covering of spiderwebs.
    The whole way, the Ralts sat cradled in Sec's arms. It stayed there, not moving, looking forward, almost nervously. Every so often it would turn and look up at Sec's face, its horn glowing a slight pink.
    I smiled as I remembered that. Dual had done almost the exact same thing when we met, except he was twice as clingy. Dual had later told me that he was fine-tuning his psychic senses to my emotions so that he could find me easily.
    Apparently the Ralts was making decisions. I wondered if Sec was aware of them yet.
    I checked my watch. 5:55. The night was almost over. Not that you'd know it, being in a tunnel God-knows-where.
    As we walked along, Dual shot glances at the Ralts.
    "Someone you know?" I asked him.
    <No,> he replied. <I just need to keep an eye on the young one, as it has no family.>
    I understood. Gardevoirs, and by extension, Gallades, were family-based creatures. Any orphans they found were raised as their own. I shuddered as I realised that if Sec ended up not taking the Ralts with him, I'd probably have to put up with Dual raising it. That had happened before: it was not enjoyable.
    As the tunnel continued, I started seeing a little flash of light. The tunnel exit.
    We all walked quickly towards it. And that was when the floor collapsed beneath us.
    OOC: Male Ralts :]
    Sec and the group had all gotten excited upon seeing the exit of the cave which would lead to fresh air, crisp sunlight, and the life of nature surrounding us. Sure, they hadn’t found the monster responsible for hurting Ralts, but at least they would have saved him and gotten him out safely.
    ”That’s the way out!” Sec said to the tiny creature which was still nestled in his arms.
    Sec was starting to feel much attached to the tiny creature that he had been carrying around. It seemed like part of the little Pokemon had become a part of him; Sec never wanted to let the Ralts go. Every few moments Sec would look down at the mushroom-headed creature and smile, occasionally the Ralts would even smile back. IT had become contented quickly after the group had left the bowels of the cave and started moving towards the surface. It also seemed like the closer Sec became with the creature emotionally, the stonger the Pokemon’s mental state became.
    Sec looked over at Chainy, who seemed just as excited as himself to be finally leaving the creepy hallows of the Meteor Valley cave system. Dual walked steadily alongside Chainy, occasionally shooting glances to Sec, as if he didn’t trust him with the baby of his kind. After a moment of contemplating Dual’s hidden feelings, Sec finally blurted the question out that he had been meaning to ask.
    “Do you think it’s too early to name him?” Se asked, looking down at his cute new companion at the same time. “I mean…I feel so connected to him… There’s no way I’m leaving without him, so can I name him now or do I have to wait until I capture him officially?
    With that, Sec took one more step forward and suddenly the ground beneath the team’s fee began to rumble and shake. Suddenly, chunks of boulder and rock began to fall from the flower into a lower chasm; the whole floor seemed to be erupting.
    “Run!” Sec cried out as the floor began to give way around them.
    Sec was too late though. Infernape was the first one to fall into the chasm below, then Ranger Chainy, Dual jumped in after Chainy, and then Sec as finally falling. As he flew through the air dust and rocks that were falling at the same time brushed his cheeks and scraped his face. He was falling at quite a rapid pace, but all’s he could think about was keeping the baby Ralts safe. Sec held the Pokemon tightly into his body so that nothing could allow it to come into harm’s way.
    Then, without warning, something hard, damp, and solid smashed into Sec’s back. The feeling of free-falling was finally gone; however, Sec was in a lot of pain and felt very nauseas.
    “Uhh…” he moaned as he sat p and held Ralts in front of him tomake sure that he had properly protected the Pokemon. There wasn’t a scratch on him.
    Sec couldn’t see anything except for the small area around his Infernape which was lit by the Pokemon’s flames, even though it lay on the ground paralyzed. Sec looked around, but couldn’t make heads or tails of the place and couldn’t find his ranger anywhere.
    “Chainy? Dual? Are you guys there?” Sec called out, beginning to get worried. “Are you guys alright?”
