OOC: @Princess Crow - Welcome to the park. Ask me if you have any questions. Furthermore, there is a Pokemon you’ll want to catch about halfway through the run, so don’t leave early.

A new person was entering the National Park and I decided to snag the run because business had been pretty slow and i wanted work to do. To my dismay I hadn’t looked at the area when I claimed the run, and now I that I would be taking her to the Power Plant, a place that I didn’t like very much. But a job was a job, and it needed done so it would get done.

This was also her very first time into the park, so it would be a fun one for her. To my understanding she was also a new trainer, so she might need some help with a few things if this was to be a fun trip.

I strapped on some of my heavy duty Pokemon like Infernape and Alakazam, and stepped into the transporter that would teleport me to the front gate of the Power Plant. When I arrived there I found that she hadn’t yet arrived, which wasn’t bad because I always got to the gate earlier. I leaned against the gate and pulled up her file, I would spend my free time reading about what information we had on her.

Frantically, Jessie scrambled around her room. Her Arcanine was outside of his pokeball, though he was more interested in his Poffin than Jessie's scramble.

"C'mon, where did I put it?" Jessie asked herself. She yanked the cushions from her couch and peered underneath. She sighed when she found nothing, besides a few stray pokedollars.

"We're already late! We gotta find it!" Jessie exclaimed.

From her bathroom, Jessie's Lanturn floated into the room. On its electric angler was Jessie's, Khaki colored bag.

"There it is!" Jessie exclaimed. "Thanks, Lanturn. Alright, team, let's get going!" Jessie said. She gently pulled her bag off of the angler and slid it onto her shoulder. After bending over to tie her shoe, she recalled her pokemon into their pokeballs and headed out of her room.

    -------------------------------------------------

After several minutes of traveling, Jessie arrived at the teleporter. She closed her eyes, stepped forward, and hoped that she was teleported to the front entrance to the Power Plant.

I was silently studying the notes on Jessie when I felt somebody teleport nearby. I looked up from my Ipad and saw a young woman standing close by with her eyes tightly shut. This was Jessie, she looked like just like her profile said she would. She was about my height, but the similarities between us ended there.

“Hey, I’m your ranger, Gaius. I understand this is your first time into the National Park?” As I listened to her reply I scanned us both into the central computer and the iron gates swung open to admit us.

At the sound of another's voice, Jessie opened her eyes. While she had been doubtful that the teleporter would have worked, she was actually glad that her trip had been successful. It meant that she was one step closer to gaining more members to her team.

Jessie smiled once she saw the other person, Gaius. She held her hand out to greet Gaius.

"Hi, Gaius. I'm Jessie Holmes," she smiled. "And yes, this is my first time in the Park. It's gonna be a wild ride, isn't it?" Jessie said.

“Hi, Gaius, I’m Jessie Holmes,” she said, smiling and introducing herself. “And yes, this is my first time in the park. It’s gonna be a wild ride, isn’t it?”

I shook her outstretched hand and ushered us inside the Park gates. “Well, every run is a mixture of luck and skill, so there is no real way to tell how good any run will be. But, I do have a good feeling with this one. My last trip here wasn’t that productive, so hopefully this one will balance the other out,” I explained.

As the gates swung shut I looked about to see if I could spot any Pokemon. Before us was a stone path winding its way to the large power plant, which was just on the edge of looking like a building no longer safe to enter. It was overgrown with foliage, but as rangers managed to keep it in a manageable condition for the Pokemon living there.

Around the stone path was tall grass, perfect for hiding any Pokemon. Just then, some grass next to us rustled with movement and a small yellow mouse jumped out. It was a Pichu, a pretty common Pokemon in these parts.

“You want a Pichu?” I asked Jessie.

OOC: My bad, still fairly new to this. So, if I wanted the Pichu, I would have to get about 2500 characters?

Jessie was somewhat let down when she heard that the last run was uneventful. Jessie had high hopes to begin with, so hearing that the person just before her was rather upsetting. Nonetheless, Jessie kept her upbeat demeanor and continued to follow Gaius through the winding path.

Once the gates had shut behind her, Jessie sighed deeply. This meant no going back. Jessie wasn't quite sure how she felt about it, but she continued to walk just behind Gaius.

Looking just ahead of Gaius, Jessie saw the overgrown building. It was hard to believe that this building was once occupied by humans, as it was now filled with all sorts of plant life. However, like Gaius noted, Jessie knew that it would be perfect grounds for loads of pokemon.

Returning her gaze to the path, Jessie spotted the Pichu just a few seconds after Gaius did.

"You want a Pichu?" Gaius asked to Jessie.

Jessie contemplated this for a moment. While she was on the lookout for any electric pokemon, this one was fairly weak. Not only that, but it was common as well. Not just in these parts, but in many places in the pokemon world.

After debating it in her head for a few minutes, Jessie shook her head. "I think I'll hold out for something more," Jessie said.

OOC: @Princess Crow - I’ll be helping you with stuff like this so don’t worry about it. Also, since the escape roll failed you can either battle the Pokemon or pay for a Pokedoll.

Jessie seemed to consider this question for a few moments before responding. “I think I’ll hold out for something more,” she said at last.

I figured she was looking for Electric Pokemon based off the Pokemon she currently possessed, but I wasn’t surprised that she didn’t want the Pichu since it was very common in a lot of places. Raichu was pretty darn good when trained properly, but since she could easily get a Pichu there was no need to waste a valuable spot here when there was many other Pokemon about.

“That’s no problem, let’s just see if this little guy agrees.”

I looked towards the yellow mouse and gestured away from us. The Pichu wasn’t having it though, it stepped closer and blocked out path in a confrontational manner. I looked over at Jessie to see how she would respond.

Jessie grunted when the Pichu didn't move aside. Most pokemon, especially of the Pichu's size, would run away in an instant. This one seemed rather stubborn, which was something Jessie didn't like.

Of course, it would mean that the pokemon would have good capabilities in battle as well. Though Jessie didn't exactly like to admit it, she knew that the pokemon that she didn't get along with typically were the better battlers. It was evident in her Arcanine.

"Do... do I have to decide if I want it or not right now?" Jessie asked to Gaius. "I think I might have changed my mind, but I'm not sure. I think I'll want to see how it does in battle before I make any decisions," Jessie explained.

Instead of waiting for an actual response, Jessie pulled out a bright red pokeball from her bag. Without even looking, she knew it was her Arcanine's pokeball. It seemed to have a warmer feel to it, probably since it was a Fire-typed pokemon. Even if she wasn't going to capture the pokemon, Jessie would need a battler.

Jessie threw her pokeball to the ground, just a few feet in front of her. The Arcanine looked up, smelled the air, and spotted the wild Pichu mere moments later. While the Arcanine snarled at the Pichu, it didn't instantly charge the pokemon. Instead, it waited for Jessie's orders.

Before giving the orders, however, Jessie looked over at Gaius to see her final response.

Jessie grunted in disappoint me when the Pichu decided to stick around. She turned to me. “Do I have to decide if I want it or not right now?” she asked, unsure of what she should do in this situation. “I think I might have changed my mind, but I’m not sure. I think I’ll want to see how it does in battle before I make any decisions,” she finished, pulling out a Pokeball and flinging it to the ground.

A large fire-ref dog sprang up from the Pokeball and rushed to its master side. It was her Arcanine, a Pokemon I had myself, but mine didn’t have any training yet, something I knew I would eventually work on.

“Well, you do have a couple of options open to you of course,” I started to explain. “Your first option is to just battle and capture it, and if you end up not wanting it later you can just catch a different Pokemon and switch the Pichu out for it. Another option is to just battle and knock the Pichu out so we can escape from it. Or, if you’re not sure if you want it now, just battle it and knock it out, and hope since they are common in these parts that we find another Pichu later on. Either way, you’ll have to battle it, what you do after that only you can decide,” I finished.

Now that I had given her her options it was up to Jessie to pick a course of action and live with what happened after that.

After having Gaius list off all of her options, Jessie nodded her head when she came to a consensus.

"Okay, I think I'll try and knock this Pichu out. Like you said, they're common around these parts, and I'm pretty sure I'll encounter one later on anyways," Jessie said confidently. "Do you think you can handle this, Arcanine?" Jessie asked towards her pokemon.

The Arcanine nodded its head and stepped forwards, facing the Pichu head on. Its regal appearance, as well as the snarl it bore on its face, were both intimidating and enchanting. Its opponent would be sure to think twice about attacking.

"Okay, then start it off with a Heat Wave!" Jessie ordered.

Her Arcanine dipped its head, howled loudly, and expelled a surge of fire aimed at the Pichu.

Jessie thought about it for a few minutes before replying, “Okay, I think I’ll try and knock this Pichu out. Like you said, they’re common around these parts, and I’m pretty sure I’ll encounter one later on anyways. Do you think you can handle this Arcanine?”

Arcanine stepped forward and snarled a challenge at the Pichu, a clear yes that it was ready for any battle. Arcanine were Pokemon that very rarely stepped down from a fight, they were often seen as a stately Pokemon.

“Okay, then start it off with a Heat Wave!” Jessie commanded her Pokemon.

The Arcanine dipped its head in inhaled a large amount of air. Immediately a ball of fire formed in the mouth of the Fire type, the heat coming from it easily visible. Arcanine growled and a wave of heat rushed the smaller Pichu.

The Pichu yelped and tried to dodge the attack, but the attack was easily the size of three Pichu’s and caught the Pokemon in the open. The Pichu ducked down and sparks began to emit from its cheeks. A bolt of electricity arced towards Arcanine and struck the Pokemon on the snout.

The Fire Pokemon sniffed heavily but shrugged the really weak attack off. The Pichu stepped forward and I could clear see some of the damage that had been wrought by the Arcanine. The Pichu had lost a good amount of health, but it could still fight.

Jessie stared intently at the battle. While she had figured that her Arcanine should be able to take down the weak Pichu with ease, she wasn't sure how it was all going to work out.

"Nice hit!" Jessie exclaimed when the Heat Wave landed on the Pichu. While she knew that Heat Wave wasn't a particularly effective move against the Pichu, the sheer, brute power and strength of the attack must have dealt substantial damage.

Jessie winced once the tiny mouse pokemon fired an electric charge at her Arcanine. Even though the move itself was extremely weak, the fear of it paralyzing her Arcanine was enough to make Jessie shudder. Regrettably, Jessie had forgotten to pack any status healers, which might come back to hurt her in the end.

However, once Jessie saw that her pokemon was only slightly fazed by the electric attack and wasn't paralyzed, her fears instantly vanished. Just a few more attacks and the Pichu would be out of her mind forever.

"Let's hit the Pichu with another Heat Wave," Jessie ordered to her pokemon.

Her Arcanine nodded its head again before repeating the same action, firing out a massive torrent of scorching flames at the Pichu.

Jessie winced at the Thundershock hitting her Arcanine, but seemed mollified when her Arcanine remained relatively unscathed from the attack, which did happen to be one of the weakest attacks known.

“Let’s hit the Pichu with another Heat Wave!” Jessie said to her Pokemom, going for the same attack as she had just used.

While using Heat Wave wasn’t a bad thing, it would have been better for her to use a move like Flamethrower instead. It would still take the same amount of moves to knock out the Pokemon, and unlike Heat Wave, Flamethrower had a lower chance of missing that the Heat Wave. Heat Wave was a move that was best used for emergency situations when only it could knock out a Pokemon instead of Flamethrower.

The Arcanine gave his master a nod and faced the Pichu once again. The Pichu decided attacking wasn’t its best option because it looked at the Arcanine with large eyes, almost imploring the Fire not to attack it. I recognized it as a Charm attack, a move that lowered the attack of the Pokemon that was charmed.

Arcanine’s eyes softened in response to the Charm, but he still used Heat Wave, sending another wave of fiery hot air at Pichu. The Pichu cringed from the pain, but managed to stay conscious, but it was clearly on its last dregs of energy. I figured it would only take another attack, and nothing more than that.

Jessie was a tad confused when the Pichu used Charm. It seemed an impractical move to use, due to its impending faint, but Jessie was satisfied nonetheless. She would rather have had a non-effective move used against her Arcanine than something that could actually cause damage to him in the long run.

She grinned when her attack hit yet again. Jessie knew that the move didn't have exactly an ideal accuracy rate, but it had managed to function both of the times she needed it. Because of that, Jessie grinned again at her Arcanine, showing her approval and admiration.

"Alright, let's finish this up with a Flamethrower!" Jessie exclaimed. She hoped that the strength of the attack would be enough to finally knock the Pichu over the edge.

Her Arcanine, having learned how to use Flamethrower a bit differently, opened its mouth widely, while a small fire ball formed inside of it. The fire ball, glowing a vibrant, almost blood-red color, grew in his mouth until it couldn't hold the fire ball back anymore. The Arcanine then closed its mouth, clamping its large teeth upon the ball of flames.

Almost instantly afterwards, the Arcanine's mouth fired open, releasing a constant stream of blisteringly hot flames aimed at the Pichu.

Jessie grinned as her Arcanine once more dished out a powerful attack upon Pichu. She, just like I did, knew that Pichu’s health was numbered. There was no way it could win this battle outside of Arcanine committing suicide.

“Alright, let’s finish this up with a Flamthrower!” She commanded her Pokemon, going for the most common Fire attack known.

Arcanine growled an affirmative and fixed his gaze upon the tired Pichu. From his mouth a small orb of of red and orange flame started to grow. The orb continued to grow in size until it was the size of baseball. Arcanine reared back and exhaled, sending a large stream of fire at the Pichu.

The Pichu was too tired to dodge and was hit by the attack. When the flames died down and Arcanine returned to its master’s side, I walked over to check on the Pichu. Pichu was unconscious, but breathing at a steady pace, it would be fine. It would revive itself in ten minutes or so and head to its home to recover. Despite losing the battle I knew that it would gain some experience from this encounter.

I looked over at Jessie and her Pokemon. “That was a nice battle, but don’t take for granted Arcanine’s power. There are plenty of other Pokemon here that could give him a solid fight. Now, do you want to take a moment or are you ready to move forward?”

Jessie watched the final stages of the battle play out, though she wasn't too involved in the battle. She knew that it was basically over, so the Pichu wouldn't have a real chance to deal damage to her Arcanine. Nonetheless, she grinned when her Arcanine finished it off.

"Nice job, Arcanine!" Jessie exclaimed, her pokemon running back into her arms. She playfully ruffled his hair, showing her affection and pride for him. Her Arcanine returned the affection, licking her cheek with a proud expression.

"Return to your pokeball. You did a great job, buddy," Jessie said as she stepped away from her Arcanine and pulled out his pokeball. A moment later, the pokemon was absorbed in a flash of red.

Jessie turned back around to face Gaius.

“That was a nice battle, but don’t take for granted Arcanine’s power. There are plenty of other Pokemon here that could give him a solid fight. She obviously knew what she was talking about; she had probably been here countless times and had had more encounters than most.

"I understand," Jessie said, correcting her attitude to a more serious one. "That Pichu wasn't too hard to defeat, but I'm certain that there are stronger pokemon in this power plant than Pichus," Jessie added while nodding her head.

"I don't see a reason as to why we can't keep going, so let's keep forging on!" Jessie said with a big smile.

“I understand,” Jessie said. “That Pichu wasn’t too hard to defeat, but I’m certain that there are stronger Pokemon in this power plant than Pichus.”

I looked about the grassy field. “That’s true, in certain areas here you tend to run into multiple Pokemon of the same type. It can be bothersome, but sometimes it’s worth it.” I pointed out the large power plant building in the distance. “Let’s head there now, more Pokemon tend to live in there.”

I started down the stone path towards the building with Jessie at my heels. We had crossed half the distance there when I spotted a diving object coming towards us. I ducked and pulled Jessie down just in time to dodge a Golbat’s Wing Attack.

“You can go for that Golbat if you want, otherwise we can run for the building and hope that we can make it there in time.”

Jessie saw Gaius point to the massive, abandoned building that apparently used to be a power plant. The amount of foliage that had invaded the building was unbelievable; Jessie could barely tell that it was created by humans. It appeared to be quite the mystery.

Entirely engrossed in the sight of the building, Jessie didn't see the approaching bat. It wasn't until Gaius grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out of the way when she realized that something was wrong.

Jessie turned around, trying to find what had just tried to attack her. When she spotted a blue and purple bat that was menacingly glaring at Jessie, she sharply inhaled. The massive fangs that the Golbat donned were a threat that Jessie wouldn't want to deal with, especially this early on in her run.

"I don't want to fight that," Jessie murmured to Gaius. "It could do too much damage, being part poison," Jessie added. "Let's try and run away, into the building," she said.

If she wanted to escape it was a good plan, and our only real one truth be told. Soon as the Golbat dived us once more I made a dash for the door, Jessie right behind me. I opened the door, ushered Jessie in, then closed it. Because this was a Pokemon sanctuary any doors here weren’t locked.

I was about to tell Jessie that I thought we made it when I heard something above us. I looked up to a vent in the ceiling burst open to reveal the Golbat. The Pokemon had followed us, probably flying into a vent leading outside and following it back to us.

“Time to fight once more, unless you want to pay for a Pokedoll,” I said to Jessie, quietly.

Almost instantly after the Golbat dove again towards Jessie and Gaius, they both bolted towards the abandoned power plant. Jessie tripped behind Gaius, and, since Gaius was in front of her, the distance between them grew vast. Jessie quickly pulled herself onto her feet and began sprinting back to Gaius.

Jessie gave herself a moment to turn back and look at the Golbat, which she regretted moments later. The bat's massive, gnashing fangs were approaching Jessie by the minute. Its crazed eyes weren't reassuring; the Golbat was definitely looking for blood.

Before she realized it, Jessie and Gaius had arrived at the building. Jessie quickly dove into the building, allowing for Gaius to shut the door right behind her.

Jessie stood up, brushed herself off, and exhaled deeply. "That was too close," she gasped, still exhausted and scared from her escape attempt.

Just like Gaius did, Jessie heard a scratching noise coming from the ceiling. She cautiously looked up, afraid to see what it was. Just like she expected, the Golbat from before had weaseled itself into the building.

"Time to fight once more, unless you want to pay for a pokedoll," Gaius half-whispered to Jessie.

"I'll do anything except fight that beast of a Golbat," Jessie said. She opened up her bag, pulled out her wallet, and took out 500 dollars. She handed them to Gaius subtly, not wanting to disturb the Golbat into attacking before the pokedoll could be tossed.
