    “Let’s get this thing over with! Start us off with Hydro Pump, Lanturn,” Jessie commanded.

    Jessie was pulling out the big guns. Hydro Pump was the third strongest Water attack in the universe if my memory was correct, so it was a strong move. Of course it came with the risk of Hydro Pump missing, but it was still a pretty solid attack to use.

    The Minun was in a bind though. Being a pure Electric type most of its moves were Electric, and since Lanturn knew the ability of Volt Absorb it would be at a severe disadvantage because any Electrical attack would heal the Lanturn.

    The good news for Minun was that Lanturn was pretty much an underwater cave or sea creature, meaning it worked best in water. On this dry ground it would be harder for it to move around.

    The Lanturn didn’t seem to mind though as it shot a twin jets of water at the Minun. One of the water twisters missed, but the other struck Minun squarely and sent it into a wall. The Minun recovered quickly and shouted out. An orb of lime-green energy formed in front of Minun, and from this orb shot a beam that struck Lanturn.

    When they light died down I could see that Lanturn was a little woozy. This meant that Signal Beam had confused Lanturn. How that would play out in the battle could influence how much damage the Lanturn took.

    OOC: Sorry, I thought that I had already posted in this and that I was waiting on you to post. My bad!

    IC:

    Jessie's previous bad mood was immediately replaced with a cheerful one as soon as her pokemon started moving. The thrill of a battle was enough to make her forget all about all that she had been going through. Sure, she had lost some money on this run, but she didn't seem to care anymore. All that mattered was her Lanturn and the Minun.

    Jessie's smile widened when she saw the Hydro Pump attack hit the Minun. Even though only one of the two turbines of high powered water managed to connect with the small electric mouse, it was a strong enough move to still be able to deal some damage. Jessie was certain that the Minun wouldn't be able to recover from that so quickly.

    However, when Jessie saw the Minun create a green orb of energy, her eyes widened and her smile shrank down to a brief gasp. The only move that Jessie could think of that looked like that was Energy Ball, which could deal some serious damage to her Lanturn, due to the water sub-type. After thinking for a short moment, she was utterly confused. She didn't think that Minun was able to learn Energy Ball, so it wouldn't make sense that it was using that move. However, once the green orb solidified into a solid green beam that fired at her Lanturn, she soon relaxed. The move could be none other than Signal Beam, which Minun was capable of learning. The bug typed move wouldn't deal too much damage to her Lanturn, due to the resistance that Lanturn gets from its electric sub-type. However, it did have some secondary effects that were less than desirable.

    "Lanturn, are you okay?" Jessie yelled out to her pokemon. She was trying to see into her Lanturn's eyes to see if what she had feared had come true.

    When the Lanturn finally turned back around, its eyes were wandering around the room, a blank stare filling its red irises. Jessie sighed when she realized what had happened; the Minun had confused the Lanturn. Her Lanturn could end up taking some damage from itself, which would not be good at all. Jessie was planning on hitting the Minun fast and hard, but, with the confusion now coming into play, that goal would be a lot harder to achieve.

    "It's okay, Lanturn! Just focus on my voice and follow my commands!" Jessie said in a soothing voice. This was where Jessie and Lanturn's trust came to the test; would the connection between the two of them allow for the Lanturn to surpass the confusion with the help of her trainer? Jessie couldn't sit around and wait. This battle had to end soon, if Lanturn was hoping to not take any more damage.

    "Okay, listen closely, buddy. We're going to try to even the playing field a little, but the only way you can do that is if you get up close to the Minun. As soon as you're close, try firing out a Confuse Ray. If you're close enough, the radius of the sound waves should be large enough to hit the Minun without missing. Do you think you can do that?" Jessie asked.

    The Lanturn still seemed as confused as ever, but Jessie's soothing voice seemed to calm it down slightly. Whether it heard Jessie's orders or not, the Lanturn began preparing for something, though not even Jessie knew what was going to happen.

    OoC: Sorry for the lateness. Ontop of school and work, I am now moving! Yayyy more stuff to do! x.x But here goes nothing~

    BP#2

    Just as the Minun launched its' attack on the trainers Lanturn. Signal Beam was quite a decent attack for bug-types, but having a small cousin of the ever-so-popular Pikachu use it, there wasn't much use besides for the secondary effect; Confusion. Jessies Lanturn looked around, as if it just magically appeared in the area. It looked like confusion took firm grasp on Lanturns mind, and was going to make the rest of this battle quite the struggle until it wore off.

    "It's okay, Lanturn! Just focus on my voice and follow my commands!" I heard Jessie call out to her partner. Most Pokemon find it helpful to focus on their trainers voice, kind of like an anchor to a ship blowing away in a storm. The practice should be useful, but Lanturn will have to struggle to keep itself in check. The trainer looked back to check on her previous ranger, only to spot me walking up to her instead. I motioned to her to tell her that Gaius had to jet, and that I was here to guide her. I wasn't sure if the hand gestures made any sense or made me look like I was having a seizure while standing, but it seemed as if she got the idea. She gave me a nod and turned back to her battle.

Do you think you can do that?" The trainer asked of her Pokemon, hoping he could manage that much. The Lanturn looked at her blankly, but tried to build up the move anyway. A purple-hued energy started to form around the small orb attached to the end of the Pokemons antenna, which I suspected was a successful Confuse Ray, and Lanturn didn't hurt itself instead. The enemy Minun didn't want to waste its' time, however. The small electric-type dashed forward quickly, zig-zagging its way towards the trainers Pokemon. The head of the small mouse-like creature connected with blinding speed with the side of Jessies focusing Lanturn, who fell back from the force of the Quick Attack. While it was tumbling, however, Lanturn was able to launch the Confuse Ray at its attacker, the purple shapeless energy surrounding the Minuns head and confusing it, as well.

    Lanturn brushed off the attack and looked back at its trainer, still that blank look on its face. Not only that, but now Minun was confused, looking back and forth from Lanturn to Jessie and back again with the same blank stare. If Jessies Pokemon didn't snap out of it soon, there was going to be some really strange battling ahead. Albeit a few laughable acts, but time consuming nonetheless.

    OOC: It's fine. I'm in no rush, so take your time with IRL stuff.

    Jessie watched the battle with intensity. She saw that Gaius had left, but she didn't really acknowledge that someone had replaced her. While she briefly nodded to him, her focus was elsewhere entirely. Her eyes might have left the action, however briefly, but her mind never strayed far from it.

    Once the pokemon had stopped with their moves, Jessie contemplated what she would do. Her pokemon might not be able to stand up against the Minun, due to its confused state. That being said, Minun was a relatively weak pokemon, and, if Lanturn could connect with it, some serious damage could be dealt.

    All of a sudden, Jessie thumped herself in the forehead. She sighed as she opened her wallet and walked over to her new ranger. "Hi," she said with a smile, "I'm Jessie. I don't really want this pokemon, but I thought that I was out of money when Gaius and I encountered it, so I decided to battle it. That being said, I just remembered that I had my credit card on me," she said with an embarrassed smile. "I upgraded it a few months ago so that it could also function as an ATM, so I'll be able to withdraw 500 dollars for the pokedoll, if that's still allowed. I just don't want Lanturn to take any more damage that what she already has," Jessie said.

    OoC: Just deduct the 500$ from your money in an OoC in the next post, please.

    All of a sudden, Jessie smacked her forehead with the heel of her hand. She sighed, taking out her wallet and walking over to me.

    "Hi," she said with a smile, "I'm Jessie. I don't really want this pokemon, but I thought that I was out of money when Gaius and I encountered it, so I decided to battle it. That being said, I just remembered that I had my credit card on me," embarrassed, she continued.

    "That's fine, and I understand. I smiled, taking the cash from her. Reaching into my pack, I grip the soft Pokedoll and quickly toss it over to the Minun, who pounces and rolls with the plush toy, cuddling it tightly. The toy makes some soft squeaks from the squeaker-thingy inside of it, making the Minun go crazy. If only people were as easy to please as a Pokemon with a Pokedoll, it might make a lot of things go smoother, I thought to myself. Dropping my random thoughts of a human Pokedoll, I turn to the trainer and motion her to follow.

    "We still have a lot of this place to explore, so lets go see what we can find!" I say to her, leading her further into the Power Plant. My idea was to bring her to where the generators and turbines are, since many electric Pokemon were known to congregate there, charging up from the stored electricity and duking it out for priority to the self-sufficient generators. Following the long, twisting hallways and taking random turns at the intersections, we came across an empty room. Many tables were overturned, and whatever ones weren't, had old computer hardware scattered across them. I went into the room, checking it all out for any small Pokemon that could be hiding. Not finding anything, I turned to the trainer and shrugged, shaking my head and walking back towards her.

    As if responding to our looming departure, a bright light shined from one of the monitors in the room. Once it died down, I noticed a lone Porygon floating out of the monitors screen, as if oblivious to our presence in the room. It hovered around the room, as if looking for nothing in particular. Turning to Jessie, who was in utter shock of a Pokemon popping out of a piece of computer hardware.

    "This is quite the rare treat. Porygon are really hard to find and are very useful. Want to battle it and attempt a capture?" I asked Jessie, who was still a bit awe-struck.

    "That's fine, and I understand," her Ranger said as he held his hand out for Jessie to drop the cash into. Jessie gave a slightly embarrassed smile as she let go of the neatly folded money that seemed to magically appear after Jessie punched in a few commands in her card.

    "Thanks, ...Taither," Jessie said, pausing when she realized that she didn't know her ranger's name. However, a quick and hopefully subtle peak at the man's name tag solved that problem, and Jessie gave an honest smile. She hadn't really grown too much towards Gaius -- not that it was anybody's fault, but Jessie just didn't really connect with her previous ranger. She wanted that to be different this time.

    "We still have a lot of this place to explore, so lets go see what we can find!" Taither said as he gave a brief nod to Jessie and turned around, headed deeper and deeper into the labyrinth of the Power Plant. Jessie was scared, to be honest. The flickering emergency lights, while probably a normal site to a regular ranger, was actually quite terrifying.

    "I wonder what happened here," Jessie mused to herself as she followed her Ranger. Scenarios created in her imagination ran through in her head. She imagined that the worst things must have happened. Tables being thrown across the room at harmless scientists by a Magnezone, a massive pokemon with incredible power and control over metal. Scientists coursing with thousands of volts of electricity from the massive hands of an Electivire. Virtual pokemon emerging from the computer screens and flying directly towards them and --

    Jessie snapped out her daydream trance as she realized that it wasn't just her imagination telling her about the virtual pokemon. A random computer monitor that happened to be intact flashed a glow of bright white light. Once the computer screen returned to normal, a pokemon had appeared where the light used to be. It seemed to have emerged from the computer, and Jessie knew only one pokemon capable of doing such an incredible feat.

    "Porygon," she whispered to herself as she inspected the floating, pink and blue pokemon. It seemed almost unreal. Nothing natural in this universe could have been so two-dimensional, yet able to survive in a three-dimensional universe. Then again, Jessie remembered that Porygon wasn't natural, having been created by scientists attempting to create a new computer security system. Obviously, that plan didn't work, and Porygon production must have been shut down when they left the computers and were used as real pokemon. Now that they had become increasingly rare, Jessie could hardly believe her eyes as she stared carefully at the pokemon.

    "This is quite the rare treat. Porygon are really hard to find and are very useful. Want to battle it and attempt a capture?" Taither asked, gesturing to the pokemon. However, Jessie couldn't hear much of anything. Her intense gaze had locked all her senses into the pokemon in front of her. She wouldn't be letting this pokemon get away, so she gave a brief and subtle nod to Taither as she finally processed what he was saying.

    "Of course." Jessie narrowed her eyes at the floating pokemon. "Turning down this kind of opportunity would just be absurd. Porygons are so rare these days, and I could definitely use one on my team," Jessie explained as she pulled out her pokeball from her pocket. "You ready to have another go, Lanturn?" Jessie asked to the pokeball, which was answered promptly by the Lanturn popping out of its pokeball and appearing several feet in front of Jessie. The arrival of the new pokemon would definitely attract the attention of the Porygon.

    "Okay, Lanturn, we can do this!" Jessie cheered as she prepared for the upcoming battle. "Let's start this battle off with some damage," Jessie said. "Remember, just like we practiced." Lanturn's unique typing of electric and water gave it a pretty interesting ability to combine water and electric attacks and deal massive amounts of damage. As such, Lanturn started firing out another Hydro Pump attack, one of the strongest water moves known to the pokemon world. However, Lanturn had laced the Hydro Pump attack with another attack; Thunder Wave, an attack notoriously known for paralyzing pokemon. The strong jet of water that had erupted from Lanturn's mouth was coursing with electric currents that might be able to paralyze the Porygon if they connected.

    Jessie stared at the pokemon with intensity. This battle was definitely important, and it might end up being the highlight of her time at the park. She couldn't afford to mess this up.

    OOC: @Princess Crow; Sorry it took so long, Hannah. :x

    Ranger Halas Mordecai
    BP#3

    Sitting in my brand new desk at the Ranger outpost, I wondered when my first assignment would come in, allowing me to finally get to escort a Trainer through the National Park. I had my feet propped up on my desk, carefully placed away from the many Pokeballs which engulfed my desk, and my hands behind my head. The oak desk had a few scuff marks from my shoes, but frankly, I didn't care all that much. Few things were in the room besides empty cardboard boxes.

    I outta get this place fancied up sometime. I thought to myself whilst my mind was beginning to drift off into my imagination.

    Suddenly, an object hit me in the head, bringing me back to reality. Two small furry creatures stood in the middle of my office looking mighty guilty about what just happened. One was a small, brown-and-creme colored fox, my dear friend Veevee the Eevee. I had had him since I was a child and we had grown to be extremely close. The other was a bipedal, gray-and-white chinchilla with what appears to be a long flowing scarf around it. Its fur reflects the light coming in from the many open windows like a mirror. This could be my one and only, Cinccino.

    I smiled at them quickly and tossed the ball high up in the air. Forgetting that a fan was going at a high speed above me, the ball sailed into the fan at shot towards my door. It was just my luck that my boss walked in right at that moment and hit him square in the face.

    He looked at me, clearly enraged, shot me a glare that showed that I was on thin ice already. His mustache twitched with the suppression of holding back a yell. "Check your phone. New assignment for you," His voice was sharp and raspy. That guy needs to lighten up.

    "Sounds like a plan," I responded to him. He stormed out, mumbling something about him being full of regret.

    "Well guys," I said to my Pokemon while standing up. "Time to pack up and find this person." I swiftly brought out a camouflaged sphere in which Cnccino resides. I pressed the middle button and a red beam of light shot out and absorbed the chinchilla. Veevee was left out for the fact that he was almost never in his ball and I was okay with that. I brushed off my Adidas sweatshirt and pants and grabbed a few things off my desk, including Pokeballs and maps. Picking up Veevee as I went, I hurriedly walked out the door.

    ~~~
    Trainer name is Jessie Holmes. Pokemon with her are an Arcanine and Lanturn, neither of which have had any moves taught to them from outside sources. She will be at the Power Pla-- My phone said to me right before I cut it off. I didn't need to know anything else. Being already at the Power Plant, I just needed to know the trainer's name. With an Eevee on my shoulder, I entered the Plant.
    Immediately, I heard the call of a Lanturn. I quickly ran towards the source and saw a female trainer about to do battle with a Porygon. What luck! She got pretty darn lucky finding one of these bad boys. The Lanturn let out a slight roar of sorts before its light began to glow. A sphere of water was also forming at its mouth.
    This must be a combo of sorts. I thought to myself.
    The Porygon must have foresaw this and began to shake vigorously. It burst into two separate Porygons, then four, then eight. Soon we were surrounded by the man-made Pokemon. Lanturn seemed confused at first, but soon finished the attack. An electrified jet of water slowly went from one Porygon to the other making each clone dissipate into nothingness.
    The attack finally hit the real Pocket Monster and it seemed to be a bit agitated by this. The Electric type attack that Jessie had used didn't seem to effect the creature as much as the water did, but still seemed to have a lingering effect. Porygon then contorted its body into a triangle and each point on its body began to glow. The attack began to grow in size, becoming more and more powerful. At last the attack was released and the Tri-Attack shot at Lanturn at a blinding speed. The triangle of power hit the fish and made it fly back a few feet. Lanturn got up as fast as possible, but was clearly effected by the incredible attack.
    "That was a very strong attack by Porygon, Jessie," I said to her while she made up her mind on the next move she would make. "I would be careful with moves like Tri-Attack, with a high Special Attack, like Porygon's, they can be very dangerous. Make sure to keep an eye on the right Porygon too!"
    OOC: @Zolar ; Thanks for posting!
    IC: Jessie never took her eyes off of her target. Even with the clones rapidly spreading around the room, creating a spectacle of immense confusion, Jessie kept her glare on the one she believed to be the original. However, once Lanturn's rampaging Hydro Pump had finally connected with a random Porygon, Jessie realized that she had had her eyes on the wrong clone the entire time.
    "This is impossible," Jessie muttered to herself, shaking her head as she watched her Lanturn get thrown back by the beam of energy fired off from the Porygon. She hated seeing her pokemon in any form of pain, but she knew how important weakening this Porygon would be.
    "That was a very strong attack by Porygon, Jessie," came a new voice from behind, startling Jessie. Cautiously, she turned around to see another man. "I would be careful with moves like Tri-Attack, with a high Special Attack, like Porygon's, they can be very dangerous. Make sure to keep an eye on the right Porygon too!" he added, smiling.
    "Who are you?!" Jessie exclaimed, but her question was answered when she got a direct look at him. The name tag, as well as his campy boy-scout uniform gave it away. "Ranger Halas Mordecai: Braviary Scout" told Jessie that Taither was pulled out of her run and replaced with this new ranger. He looked fairly young, possibly even younger than Jessie herself, but Jessie instinctively trusted his 'rangering' abilities.
    "Halas Mordecai, reporting for duty!" he replied, giving a salute. Though Jessie normally would have stifled a laugh at his corniness, for some reason, she had respect for this teenager. Perhaps it was because of his apparent knowledge of the relatively rare pokemon in front of them, or perhaps it was something else.
    "Another ranger?" Jessie asked, somewhat confused. "Wonder where Taither had to go..." Jessie thought aloud. "Jessie Holmes," she introduced herself with a smile. However, she turned back to the battle, trying not to lose track of the true Porygon. However, by the time she was facing the battle again, all the clones had moved positions.
    "Oh no..." she said to herself, breathing heavily as she did. "Lanturn, did you see where it went?!" she exclaimed to her pokemon, breathing even heavier. Her Lanturn gave a subtle shake of her head to indicate that she too had lost sight of the original Porygon. "This... this isn't... good," she gasped. "I can't... can't... stay up..." Jessie said as she placed a hand over her chest. Her heart was beating louder than a drum, her lungs inflating and deflating several times a second. "Not again... I'm... hyper... ventilating!" she exclaimed as she fell to the floor, spastically gasping for air like a fish out of water. Before anybody could even react, Jessie was unconscious.
    ----------
    All she saw was black. Well, not even that. Black at least was something. This version of hell was complete and utter nothingness. All that existed in this empty space was Jessie and the demons that haunted her head. However, now that Jessie was in their realm, these demons were far from voices.
    "Fucking great," Jessie groaned as she realized exactly where she was. "Why does this always happen right when I don't want it to?" She got to her feet (as far as she could tell, at least. There wasn't exactly a ground in this place) and prepared for what was to come.
    "You've got a lot riding on this battle, Jessie." came a pounding voice. The source was undefinable; it seemed to be emanating from the very essence of this twisted form of reality. "This Porygon will affect you more than you can possibly know."
    "What do you mean?" Jessie asked, but her answer was found before she even finished her sentence. The utter nothingness transformed in an instant to an image of the power plant in flames, thousands upon thousands of pokemon fleeing from the alight building. Though she could not see it directly, she heard the cries of two humans from the depths of the flames. Immense pain shot through Jessie as she realized that it was her and Halas, and, with her accepting it in her mind, her demons accepted it as a reality. She felt licks of flames tear across her skin, even though she was no where near the flames.
    "WHAT IS THIS?!" Jessie screamed in agony as she fell to the 'floor' in pain. "Please, make it stop!" she cried.
    And, in an instant, the burning the building, the fleeing pokemon, and the smoldering humans vanished. Yet again, nothingness took control. "This was but a simulation, my love. The true experience is much worse, and I won't be there to save you."
    "What are you trying to tell me?!" Jessie screamed, tears pouring down her face. "That I'll cause this if I don't catch that Porygon?!"
    "Quite possibly, yes. However, I might have shown you the future if you, perhaps, did not capture the Porygon. Perhaps I'm showing the future regardless of what you can say or do." the powerful voice boomed. "The point is, my dear, you are at my disposal and command if you do not wish to perish in the bitter flames that I have just shown you."
    Jessie was taken aback. Her parents, her psychiatrist, and everyone she had ever come into contact with had told her never to listen to the voices, regardless of the situation. They were manipulative and would do anything to escape from her head and reign terror on the real world. Then again, her voices were never wrong, especially when it came to these things regarding her well-being.
    "What did you have in mind?" Jessie asked hesitantly. "I'm not going to hurt anybody, no matter what you ask me to do."
    "Of course, dear Jessie! Do not fret, I will take care of you. But you must listen to everything I say, no matter what the circumstances. When you awake, you mustn't tell the boy of our conversation. It is crucial that he knows not of your abilities," instructed the voice.
    Jessie replied with an abrupt nod before she realized that she was slipping out of this dark realm and back into reality.
    ----------
    Jessie awoke to see Halas staring at her with a face of both nervousness and confusion. Noticing that her breathing had returned to its normal pace, Jessie promptly stood up, trying her best to ignore Halas' look of confusion.
    "Are you here?" Jessie thought to herself as she positioned herself into her original spot. She looked at the scene in front of her, and was surprised at how little had changed. Jessie glanced down at her wrist watch and saw that she had only been unconscious for a matter of seconds, to her surprise.
    "Right here as always," the all-too-familiar voice said in Jessie's mind. "First, we must weaken the pokemon, no matter what outcome you eventually choose. An Electro Ball should work nicely, considering your pokemon massively outspeeds the Porygon."
    "What about the clones? There's a high chance it'll miss as well," Jessie said, trying hard to pinpoint which clone might be the right one. It was difficult, seeing as they all moved at precisely the same time, doing the same motions.
    "It's in your Lanturn's blood to use its surroundings to its benefit. A fish out of water will do anything it can to prolong its life on the surface, and, while your Lanturn can now survive on land due to the water that has soaked this room, the instinct is still the same. This room is filled with soaked electrical equipment, and water is a conductor and amplifier of electricity, so a single attack could potentially spread across the entire room. You don't need precise accuracy when your bullet is big enough."
    "True," Jessie thought to herself, "but what about Halas and me? We'll be fried in an instant."
    "Girl, have I taught you nothing?! Your pokemon is immune to electrical attacks. Have it stay close to you and absorb any stray electric surges and, though it won't heal the Lanturn like a normal electric attack will, Lanturn will be able to protect you." the voice said, obviously frustrated with Jessie's 'incompetence.'
    "Here goes nothing," Jessie thought to herself as she readied for the ensuing exchange of attacks. "Okay Lanturn, now's the fun part! Use the surrounding electrical equipment and water to your advantage by letting it amplify your electric attacks! Go for an Electro Ball attack, then swim out before the Porygon can retaliate!"
    Lanturn gave a confused look at its owner, but soon nodded its head and turned back to the Porygon clones. A massive ball of electricity radiated from the Lanturn, which was draining more and more power from the electrical components surrounding it. With a quick flip of Lanturn's tail, the massive Electro Ball was fired at the Porygon, gaining momentum and force from the water and computers.
    "We might want to step back," Jessie said cautiously to her ranger as the Electro Ball neared impact with almost all the clones.
    I must have surprised the trainer because she hollered at me after I had spoken. "Who are you?!" I quickly explained that her previous Ranger, Taither, had to leave on some important business. She seemed to calm down a bit after that.
    The introductions were made a bit short due to the high importance of the battle going on, but she did present herself with a smile. "Jessie Holmes,"
    She quickly turned back to the battle and was immediately confused. The Porygon and clones had moved around making her lose the original one. She became distraught and looked to her Pokemon to see if it knew which one was the real one.
    "Lanturn, did you see where it went?!" Jessie said to the Light Pokemon. When it shook its head, her breathing speed up and she looked dazed. She began talking to herself then finally screamed, "Not again... I'm... hyper... ventilating!" After that brief dialog, she fell to the ground with a loud thump.
    "Oh shit," I muttered running over to her unconscious body. "Naturally on my first run, my trainer goes and dies on me." I squatted next to her and placed two fingers on the side of her neck checking for a pulse. Thank God, there was one. Just as I removed my fingers from her throat, Jessie's eyes shot open and she looked at me funny, then quickly looked away. After that, she stood up and regained her place in the battle, I followed her.
    I had completely forgotten about the Porygon and its clones during this situation, but they hadn't forgotten about us. It had been studying the battlefield and Lanturn. They had used one of Porygon's signature moves; Conversion 2. The only reason I knew this, is because of the fact that Porygon and its clones had began to change into a yellowish tint. To Jessie's luck, the paralysis from her previous strike had made the move not as effective as it should have been.
    With a quick sigh, Jessie gave an order to her Pokemon. "Okay Lanturn, now's the fun part! Use the surrounding electrical equipment and water to your advantage by letting it amplify your electric attacks! Go for an Electro Ball attack, then swim out before the Porygon can retaliate!"
    With a hesitant nod, Lanturn obliged and began to charge the powerful attack. Streams of electricity poured from all of the surrounding computers and other fancy lab equipment into the ball that was being charged on Lanturn's light. It seemed to be giddy about this, but still released the attack perfectly. Even on its way to collide with the Porygons, the Electro Ball seemed to gather more and more energy from the technology around it. Jessie motioned for me to take a step back, just in case something went wrong. I heard her telling me to back up, but was too focused on the battle to listen. Veevee sat on my shoulder like he had for this entire situation.
    Porygon saw the incoming attack and prepared for the worst. It put up a very weak shield over itself, a last second Protect that might not even work that well. Right before the sphere of electricity collided with Porygon, the Protect enclosed it absorbing little of the damage. To my surprise, something else had happened that I don't think even Jessie had planned. Electro Ball had began to pull the computers and other things toward it, acting like a magnet. The weight of everything on the weak shield had made it collapse, Porygon lay under hundreds of pounds of equipment. To Jessie's luck, Lanturn got out unscathed, in fact, the electricity seemed to have healed it. I was confused on how the equipment had been pulled toward Porygon, but then put together a theory.
    Jessie seemed a bit shocked by the side effect of this attack, but I did my best to explain what I believe had happened. "I think that when Lanturn had initially fired its attack at Porygon, it had sent a different kind of electrical current due to it being a bit excited by the power of the attack. When Porygon had used Protect and Electro Ball connected with it, it created friction and with the electricity in the mix, a magnetic pull of sorts occurred pulling the nearby equipment towards the Electro Ball."
    Porygon seemed quite hurt by this phenomenon of science and was slow in trying to remove itself from the rubble. It was near the point of it being down and out for the count.
    After stepping back from the ensuing scene, Jessie resisted the urge to close her eyes. As the Electro Ball gained in size, rapidly sapping electrical power from the nearby machinery, Jessie knew that what was coming might have a massively influential result on the progress of the battle. Though Jessie certainly doubted it, she couldn't help but wonder if the Electro Ball was strong enough to knock out the Porygon all together. It was a stretch, that much was certain, but the glee that Lanturn seemed to be exerting might've added too much of a kick to the attack.
    "Oh god," Jessie muttered to herself, fearing the worst. However, just before she averted her eyes, she spotted that the Porygon had quickly sputtered up a near invisible barrier. A faded green shield appeared in an instant, mere seconds before the Electro Ball would collide. Jessie sighed out of both relief and frustration as she realized that this move was Protect. This would guarantee that Lanturn wouldn't be able to knock out the Porygon and ruin Jessie's chances of capturing the pokemon, but it also guaranteed that Porygon would be at a significantly higher health.
    "What is going on?" Jessie asked as she noticed that the nearby computers began shaking in place. Right after she noticed this odd occurrence, Jessie's attention was jolted back to the battle with a loud zap as the Electro Ball connected directly with its target. The Protect obviously wasn't enough to hold up against the massive power of the Electro Ball, but Porygon still had undoubtedly taken some substantial damage. However, the slightly rattling equipment was no shaking violently back and forth. The massive, ancient-looking computers were tearing out their plugs, lifting their thousand pound masses off of the cement floor, and hurling at rapid speeds towards the Porygon.
    "Well this can't be good," Jessie thought and cringed when the massive piece of machinery collided with the Porygon. This computer wasn't the only one to get uplifted and magnetically pulled to the Porygon -- Jessie had to duck down to avoid a metal pipe embedded in the wall behind her so that it wouldn't slam into her. The Electro Ball must've caused a massive electro-magnetic field to spark up around the Porygon, which attracted the metal towards the center.
    The Porygon was obviously injured. It was surrounded by heavy machinery, warping around the Porygon to form a sort of trap. As such, the Porygon was locked in place. An armor made of miscellaneous computer parts had made Porygon immobile, and, combined with Porygon's already restricted movement through paralysis, Jessie knew that it would take a long time for the Porygon to get out of its trap.
    "Now what?" Jessie thought. While it was primarily to herself, she knew that that voice was still haunting her thoughts, so it most likely heard Jessie's contemplation. "Electro Ball will have less of an effect on the Porygon now, considering that it's covered in that armor. Plus, Porygon will be more likely to evade it, now that it knows our strategy."
    "Very well," the voice replied, grunting in agreement. "Call back your Lanturn, its job is done here. With the thick layer of metal surrounding the Porygon, your Arcanine's fire attacks should be super-effective. Also, while a burn is not likely, it would be an added bonus if Porygon was exposed to another status."
    Jessie shook her head to confirm as she pulled out her Lanturn's pokeball. "Come back, Lanturn! You've damaged Porygon quite well, but we need Arcanine to finish the job so I can capture it!" Jessie exclaimed as she pressed the button on the pokeball. In a bright flash of red light, Lanturn was absorbed into the ball.
    "Come on out, Arcanine!" Jessie said as she pulled out her other red-and-white sphere. Tossing it to the ground, the ball cracked open and a regal looking dog appeared at the scene of the battle. The Arcanine stretched its legs as it was released, as this had been the first time the Arcanine had been outside of its pokeball since fighting Jessie's very first encounter at the park, Pichu. Flickers of fire danced between Arcanine's teeth as it prepared for Jessie's instructions.
    "Okay, we're going to go for a Heat Wave! You've got the advant--" Jessie started to say before she was interrupted by a loud and rather rude interjection in her mind.
    "Are you daft?! Did I not show you anything in that glimpse to the future?!" the voice exclaimed in Jessie's head, causing her to cringe and cover her ears. "Heat Wave can hit multiple targets, and its accuracy isn't all that great to begin with, so you're setting the risk of catching this place on fire far higher than it needs to be!"
    "Then what do you suggest?" Jessie asked sarcastically, finally regaining her composure. "Not like I know my Arcanine's abilities better than anybody else."
    "Trust me, I definitely know your Arcanine better than you do. While your Arcanine has a respectable Flamethrower and an even scarier Heat Wave, its physical strength far surpasses its special. Though Fire Fang is naturally weaker than both Flamethrower and Heat Wave, Arcanine can take better advantage of it than it can a Flamethrower. Also, Fire Fang has a chance to flinch and to burn, which could put you in an even better situation when preparing for the capture!"
    "I guess you're right..." Jessie trailed off in her mind as her focus returned to the battle. "Okay Arcanine, scratch that! Run up to that Porygon and use Fire Fang on it! Try to use the Porygon's current situation to your advantage. The metal equipment surrounding him is an amplifier of your fire. However, be careful that you don't bite down on the steel itself, as it won't be able to damage the Porygon. Look for a break in the shell and bite it hard!"
    Jessie's Arcanine nodded with a malicious grin. Turning to stare at the Porygon who was still struggling to get out of its predicament, the Arcanine began charging up flames within its mouth. Cinders turned into tendrils of fire surrounding Arcanine's massive fangs. With an intimidating* howl, Arcanine charged at the Porygon with its mouth dancing with flames.
    Jessie stared at the developing battle with intensity. This battle was too close for Jessie to mess up again like she did when she fainted. If anything mattered in the battle, this was that point. "Hope for a flinch or a burn," Jessie thought -- prayed, rather -- as the Arcanine neared contact with the still struggling Porygon.
    OOC: @Zolar ; in case you couldn't tell, that was Arcanine using Fire Fang and its ability, Intimidate, activating.
    I watched Jessie analyze the field in which she would have to utilize to capture the Porygon. It seemed as if she had someone helping her with the battling process, but I took little notice of this.
    She pulled out a Pokeball and said, "Come back, Lanturn! You've damaged Porygon quite well, but we need Arcanine to finish the job so I can capture it!" The Lanturn was absorbed in a bright crimson light and disappeared. Jessie grabbed another Pokeball and tossed it to the ground.
    What appeared from the blinding light was an Arcanine. These Pokemon were known for being incredible battlers and even better companions. The large dog stretched a bit, as if it had been in the red-and-white sphere for a while. It shook its mane out, and it fluffed up a tad. It stood in a battle-ready position and waited for a command.
    "Okay, we're going to go for a Heat Wave! You've got the advant--" Jessie got cut off mid-sentence. I got confused suddenly. She just randomly stopped giving an order. Did she have a sudden change of heart?
    "Okay Arcanine, scratch that! Run up to that Porygon and use Fire Fang on it! Try to use the Porygon's current situation to your advantage. The metal equipment surrounding him is an amplifier of your fire. However, be careful that you don't bite down on the steel itself, as it won't be able to damage the Porygon. Look for a break in the shell and bite it hard!" She commanded the Legendary Pokemon.
    The Arcanine howled loud enough to shake the room. This was its ability, Intimidate, activating. This scares the foe thus making its attack drop. Porygon on the other hand, rarely used its Attack, for it is a Specially oriented Pokemon. Arcanine then ran toward the trapped Porygon mouth ablaze. I felt as if Porygon was about to be destroyed by the upcoming attack.
    Suddenly, the Porygon began to glow yellow once again, but this wasn't Conversion, this was an attack. As Arcanine grew nearer, Porygon began to spark with electricity. Right as Arcanine opened its mouth to bite the Porygon, Porygon let lose a massive bolt of electricity straight down the maw of Arcanine. Somehow, the Legendary Pokemon was able to finish its attack and bit down on Porygon with enough force to shatter bone. Arcanine, with the Virtual Pokemon in mouth, shook its head back and forth to increase the damage dealt. By doing this, it freed Porygon from the pile of metal and whatnot.
    "Jessie, that attack from Porygon really took a toll on Arcanine. I think it must have been a Zap Cannon or some other powerful Electric-Typed move. Arcanine seems to have been paralyzed during the attack too." I told Jessie.
    "What do we do now?" Jessie thought to the man inside her head, but Jessie didn't get a response. Admittedly, she had acted early, as her Arcanine still hadn't connected with the Porygon quite yet. Things were looking great, however, due to the fact that the Porygon was still contained in the metal contraption it had been caught in.
    Like it had happened previously, the Porygon shone a golden yellow light. Jessie didn't think much of this and assumed that it was merely a side-effect of the paralysis, but once the Porygon's entire body was shaking with violent energy, Jessie knew that this wasn't the case.
    "Get in, get out. Don't let whatever that Porygon is doing hurt you!" Jessie exclaimed to her Arcanine, but by the time the words had found their way out of Jessie's mouth, it was already too late. Jessie's Arcanine was mere moments away from chomping down on the Porygon with its impressive mandible of fire, but the Porygon wasn't just going to stay still and let the Arcanine tear down its health. Instead, the Porygon formed one of the most dangerous electric attacks that Jessie knew of: Zap Cannon. It had horrendous accuracy, but at such close range, it was a guaranteed hit. However, the most troublesome side-effect of the entire attack was that it guaranteed paralysis as well. Definitely not something Arcanine was happy with.
    "Watch out!" Jessie exclaimed as the intense beam of pure electric energy shot straight from the Porygon and connected with Arcanine. Jessie couldn't tell from the spectacle of light whether or not Jessie's Arcanine had been hit in a critical spot, but she heard the blood-curdling howl as Arcanine was electrocuted with the attack. Arcanine had practiced against some of Jessie's gym pokemon, such as Raichu and Electivire, so Arcanine was somewhat used to an electric attack. Because of this, Jessie knew that her Arcanine was hit much harder than it had ever experienced.
    "This is bad. So bad." Jessie shook her head as she watched her Arcanine finally chomp down on the computerized pokemon. While Arcanine had inevitably been paralyzed, its Fire Fang was still incredibly powerful. Arcanine had been in situations similar to this, and his Adamant nature helped him deal with statused. However, because of his Adamant nature, Arcanine probably wouldn't even realize that he was paralyzed. Arcanine must've not held back when attacking the Porygon, which was evident in him shaking the Porygon viciously, but the paralysis must've taken a bigger toll on Arcanine as well.
    After Arcanine's vice-grip jaw released the incredibly wounded Porygon, Arcanine stumbled back, obviously in pain. Even without the added side-effect of the paralysis, this move would have been hard to withstand. Now that Arcanine was paralyzed, it was essential that Jessie end this battle fast.
    "The only way you can save your pokemon and this building is by capturing the Porygon," the voice said. Though Jessie couldn't exactly hear how the voice sounded, she could tell that it was almost sadistic. This wasn't an opportunity for Jessie to take to be able to gain a pokemon. There was definitely something more to it.
    "I know..." Jessie thought, trailing off. However, as soon as these words left her personal thoughts, Jessie saw something she didn't see before. The voice inside her head was keeping her in the dark for a reason. Jessie didn't quite know what, but she could tell that the voice was using the disturbing visual of the power plant on fire for more than just instilling fear into Jessie. She couldn't define exactly what it was, but she knew something big was up. "Why didn't you just tell me this earlier?!" Jessie thought, infuriated. "You put me through all that pain for nothing?! You kept me in the dark for NOTHING?"
    "Of course, my dear! What other use do you have to me but to serve as a blind slave?" the voice said, with the same sadistic tone.
    "Just answer me this: why? What purpose does torturing me and my family have anything to do with this?! Why do you do this to me?!" Jessie asked. Though Halas wouldn't quite understand it, Jessie's eyes were tearing up. All these painful memories were rising to the surface of her thoughts yet again: being locked away in an infirmary for the clinically insane, her family turning their backs on her and the demon in her head opening its arms, and her mangled, broken body curled up in a fetal position as the demon whispered terrible threats in her mind. Jessie had worked so hard to lock these memories away, but the voice in her head knew just how to hurt her most.
    "Have you really not figured it out yet?" the voice replied, finding even stronger pleasure in the pain Jessie was experiencing. "I have always had such an amazing admiration for Porygon. It was born in a universe not acknowledged by humans, but it was eventually able to enter the real world. Transformation from an imaginary realm to the world you see i front of you."
    Jessie stood still, mortified. "You... you're using Porygon and me to enter the real world."
    "She finally understands! For 16 years, I've been locked up in your pitiful little mind. The only being to have ever transferred from an imaginary universe to the real one is Porygon, and I plan to tap its deepest secrets when you've captured it so that I can follow its footsteps. No longer will I be limited by your restraint. I will be real, and I will be without you."
    "Then I won't capture it!" Jessie audibly exclaimed, tears starting to leak their way from her eyes. "If that's what it takes to keep you locked up, so be it!" Jessie screamed.
    "But, my dear, if you let me go, you will never remember me! You will forever and always be rid of me! No longer will I haunt you, nor will I haunt your memories! You'll be free to live your life on your own, and I will make sure to leave you alone as I become human!" the voice explained. "You and I must work together to be rid of each other!"
    "I am not selfish enough to wish you upon the real world! Though it will kill me to do so, I will have no choice but to keep you locked up!" Jessie screamed.
    The voice remained silent for a moment. Jessie had learned to tune out the voice for a brief moment, but this was something completely different. For the first time in years, it seemed as if the voice was completely silent. Jessie, for once in her life, seemed to have peace of mind.
    However, nothing lasts forever.
    Jessie shrieked as she clutched her head in her hands. Bombardment like she had never felt before scorched her mind. Immense pain shot through every nerve in her body. The pulsing that ricocheted off of every facet of her mind rebounded twice as strong as before. Jessie had known this feeling from before. The voice was trying to take over.
    "I CAN'T LET THIS HAPPEN!!" Jessie screamed at the top of her lungs as she writhed in pain. "NOT NOW, NOT EVER AGAIN!"
    The pain suddenly intensified before Jessie buckled. It was less than a second before Jessie hit the floor, unconscious.
    ------------
    Wordlessly, Jessie's now calm body stood up off of the floor that she was just a moment ago unconscious on. Jessie faced the battle, pulled out a single Super Ball, clicked the center so that it would grow to full size, and tossed the pokeball at the Porygon. All emotion was void of Jessie, and her eyes burned with a fiery passion as Jessie watched the battle with complete focus and intensity.
    Jessie seemed to be extremely distraught about her Arcanine's condition. She walked back and forth, as if she was contemplating her next move. I had no idea what was going through her head. Suddenly, she screamed and fell to the ground unconscious once again.
    I rushed to her side, but before I could see if she was okay, she was up and had a Super Ball in her hand. She was determined to capture the Porygon, whom was struggling to move on the opposite side of the room.
    She whipped the sphere at the Porygon and when it made contact, the Pokemon was absorbed in a crimson light. It shook violently as the Porygon tried to escape. It stopped shaking and I knew it was a capture.
    I walked over and picked it up. "Congratulations," I said to Jessie. "You are now the owner of a Porygon!"
    She seemed as if she wanted to leave, so we did. Jessie didn't say a word as we left the Power Plant. Something was troubling her, but I didn't have the guts to ask.
