Ranger Ivy Frost

“I know it was in here somewhere...” Ivy muttered, rummaging though one of the drawers in Chainy's desk.

The Main Outpost was quiet. It was super early, and nobody had arrived yet, including some of the die-hards that always started the day as soon as they could. That included Chainy, whose desk she was rummaging through. More importantly it also included Buzzer, another Ranger. That gave her plenty of time to set up.

“Aha,” she said, finding what she was looking for. She held it up to the desk light she had turned on, admiring the tool in the soft orange glow. It was just a lock pick, though to call anything Chainy owned 'just' something was probably a mistake. He had everything of the gadget variety, and today she was super glad of it. He wouldn't mind if she borrowed it; it was for a good cause.

She switched off the light and exited the office, heading back into the main work area, where there were desks littered across the space. The Rangers had individual offices as well, but a lot of the time they all moved out here to work. It made it easier if they had to talk to someone or needed a specific form. In fact, a lot of the male Rangers enjoyed calling for the secretaries to bring them this or that, allowing them to watch.

The lights were off in this part of the Outpost, but that was okay. She wanted to work undetected for now. Light was beginning to trail in from the windows anyway from the brightening sky, and she knew someone, probably Chainy and some of the senior secretaries, would be arriving soon. She had to hurry.

She reached Buzzer's desk with a grin on her face. She stooped down to the lower drawer on the right side, testing it to be sure it was locked. It was, but she just smiled this time instead of groaning. She fiddled with Chainy's lockpick until the drawer gave a soft click, and she gleefully shifted through the previous locked-up contents before finding what she needed.

The small stack of photos made her laugh quietly. Most of them displayed Buzz in embarrassing positions and looks on his face, courtesy of the last celebration/party they had. The boss had even shown up for this one, and if she remembered correctly, some of these pictures had been taken by him. She particularly liked the one where he was wearing the sugguestion bowl (for office ideas in general) on his head while displaying boxers with hearts on them. Great black mail material.

She went to the photocopier and got to work, finding a roll of tape to slide onto her wrist, as well as a packet of thumbtacks. Then she had fun decorating the outpost with embarrassing pictures of Buzzer. That would teach him to dig in her drawers and post up embarrassing love letters from unknown persons.

The idea had struck her in the wee hours of the morning. She had fallen asleep here again, staying late to do her paperwork and just not having anywhere else to really go.

“Do not forget to put one on the main board,” a soft voice said against her mind, and she turned back in the direction of her own desk, smiling at the Pokémon curled up in her leather rolling chair.

“Thanks, Haji, nearly forgot.”

The purple cat-like Pokémon closed his eyes and slowly blinked at her. He looked somewhat pleased, so she took the gesture to be a happy one. She still wasn't sure yet, as the Espeon was very new to her team, but she was looking forward to learning. She had always wanted a bond with a Psychic-type like the other Rangers had, and she was going to get her chance to try.

She finished her decorating and trailed back to Chainy's office, finding a scrap piece of paper and writing 'Thanks, Chainy. -Ivy' on it, swirling the tail on the Y in a pleased motion. Then she took out and used a tube of chapstick, kissing the note. It was fun to watch him squirm sometimes, as every time she acted more like a girl than just a tough Ranger he panicked a little or ran away. She put the lockpick back into his drawer and went back to her office, finding Haji following her.

He jumped up on her chair as she checked her pockets for supplies. She looked again at the open file on her desk, getting the specifics for her next run. She had accepted it yesterday, but was so busy with paperwork and other things that she couldn't start it until today. Hopefully her Trainer would understand for the slight wait.

She collected her heavy dark cloak off the back of her chair, minding not to bump Haji as she swung it over her red canvas vest. Normally her black turtle neck and vest combo was enough to keep her comfortable in most weather, but today she was taking a Trainer named Angel up to Oktori. It got pretty cold up there. The only other times she had been there was on her preliminary training and then a short run she finished up with a guy named Roulette. Still, the cold left an imprint.

Ready to go, she looked at the Espeon again. He was just watching her. She found that he did that often, never really saying much. She thought it might be because he was still getting used to her; she hadn't raised him from an eevee after all. At least, thats what she hoped. She wanted him to like her.

She hesitated, wondering if she should just take the teleporter instead of asking him to teleport them to the cold mountain. She didn't want to bother him or make him uncomfortable. It shoudln't be so hard, and yet she was floundering. She didn't want to mess this up.

“You can ask.”

Ivy stopped, looking at the Psychic-type that was still watching her. Having a mental link was still really new to her, and she forgot that he could probably read her thoughts as easily as if she were speaking them out loud. It was really hard to hide anything from a Psychic Pokémon, she found.

“Sorry,” she said as she rubbed the back of her head. “It's just...” She waved her arms, trying to explain herself without words.

“That is alright,” he said, jumping off the chair and walking over to her and rubbing against her leg in a reassuring gesture. “Hang on tight.”

She hunched down to be more at his level, putting her hand on his back as the world began to shimmer around them. There was a pulling sensation, and then the heat from her office was gone, replaced by a crisp, cool air that could only come from Oktori. The massive mountain loomed before them, framed by the quickly lightening sky. They were clear, so it was probably going to be a nice day when the sun finished rising.

Ivy headed over to the Outpost, sitting down on one of the wooden benches to wait for her Trainer. It was still early, but she liked the quiet time. Sometimes it was hard to relax. Haji jumped up next to her and curled up on the seat, and she was content to sit and wait.

Angel was never a patient man. It took ever ounce of his being to not call up the ranger office and go crazy on them when he was informed it may be a day or two. Angel was a very calm individual but hated it when his routines were thrown out of whack.

During that time however his first friend Rayl and come out of her ball, sensing the uneasiness and was able to sooth him and calm him down. Afterwords he had thanked his partner Gardevoir and she had returned to her ball.

Now he found himself walking in the cold towards the gate for the the mountain area. He usually loved to wear light clothes, but decided that wearing his favorite clothes wasn't worth freezing to death. He ended up bundling up a bit this time he didn't like it but ignored that thought. The air was stinging every part of exposed skin. His eyes felt dried from the cold air but he keep them open as he continued to scan for his ranger. Even though Rayl had calmed him that time, he still wanted to know who had kept him waiting. Before he got to the gate however, he noticed on the other side a being had warped into existence, and next to her was a pink cat looking pokemon. That had to be them, there was no other reason for anyone to come to this hellish place except for this.

He personally hated it here. He hated the cold, and wanted the heat back. But he sucked it up and shut up because he knew it would be worth it in the end. That wasn't to say he still hoped this trip would go by quick. He loved ice pokemon, they all seemed to be so graceful and peaceful to him. His golden catch this trip would be a Snorunt.

While at the store he had stared multiple times at the CD player and blank disks, and every time, he had to remind himself of how he had no money. He would have to rely on luck only. He swore then that next time he was here he would have a CD player.

Even when he had reached the gate he couldnt make out his ranger in this weather. It was still early and very very cold out, the morning clouds still loomed on this mountain, they had not yet moved on. Finally he had gotten close enough to make them out.

"Hello! Are you my ranger? Im Angel!" He said as he approached trying to hide his aggravation from escaping into his voice

He felt a curious sensation in his mind, if he could describe it, he would have thought someone was smirking in his head. When he approached the ranger he was finally able to get a better look, and all his aggravation seemed to dissapate. He finally saw that it was a woman, and a red head on top of that. His face felt a little hot, which helped against the cold and went unnoticed for the same reason.

"Uhhh... how are you!" Angel said to her, "I don't think I ever got your name from the offices." The truth was he had, he just failed to hear it every time. He also then realized where the brain smirk came from, he then forced his mind into a mental link he had learned to do.

'oh shut up Rayl, you know how I'm a sucker for redheads, you should have warned me!'

Rayl's thoughts of laughter made it back to Angel which caused him to roll his eyes for all to see. Right after he did that however, he realized that the female ranger would of saw and thought how weird it would have been to have someone ask your name and then roll your eyes.

"Uhh... sorry, Rayl said something..." He almost facepalmed as soon as he said it, realizing that this didn't help explain anything at all.

Angel sighed and finally took a pokeball out of one of his pockets. he opened it up and in a flash of light his Gardevoir appeared and seemed to be having a laughing fit. He pointed at her and making sure not to make anymore of a fool of himself only said.

"Rayl..." he put the ball away and crossed his arms.

Ranger Ivy Frost

She felt the prickling interest of Haji's energy before she saw the Trainer approaching. It was kinda nice having the psychic bond, she thought. It just still seemed awkward and not a reassuring feeling. She supposed that would eventually fade. Either that or she would know for sure if he didn't like her much.

The Trainer got closer and yelled, “Hello! Are you my Ranger? I'm Angel.”

He sounded a little annoyed, and she hoped it was just because of the place and not anything she did. He didn't really look like he liked the cold. She got up off the bench, heading over to meet him with a smile on her face. Haji padded next to her quietly, scoping out their Trainer.

“Uhh...how are you? I don't think I ever got your name from the offices...” He trailed off after speaking in a rush, and Ivy noticed his cheeks were a little red. She knew this was his first time to the Park, so she hoped he wasn't too nervous. Then, he rolled his eyes, and Ivy just rose an eyebrow and gave him a curious look. That was an odd thing to do after asking someone their name.

“Uhh...sorry, Rayl said something...” he said after realizing what happened.

She figured Rayl was one of his Pokémon, though she didn't know which one, as she didn't read his profile sheet that well the previous night, being too busy with paperwork and crafting her plan to get back at Buzz.

“A Gardevoir,”a soft voice replied to her mind, and Ivy mentally thanked the Espeon for his input. All troubles considered, she did like the private conversations they could have.

Angel sighed and pulled out a ball from his pocket. A human-shape Pokémon with a whiteish dress and green hair appeared in a flash of light, and she looked to be laughing at something. He pointed at her and mumbled, “Rayl.”

Ivy just laughed a bit. “So I see. Well, I'm Ivy Frost, and this is Haji.” She motioned to the Psychic cat-like Pokémon beside her. “We'll be taking you up the icy mountain today, and dont bother with the jokes, I've heard them all.”

She let the information sink in and then started walking towards the front gate, motioning for the Trainer to follow. The Espeon padded through the snow without complaint. She opened the gate and let everyone inside, pausing to make sure it was locked so any wild Pokémon that strayed this way woudln't get out. She remembered when that had happened at Deckbi. It wasn't fun rounding them back up.

Then, she led them up the path. It was a pretty even part filled with snow and lined by banks and rocks. Soon it would come to a split, and then she'd let the Trainer choose which way he'd like to go. They continued on up for a while, passing by giant snow-covered rocks that loomed over them.

Suddenly, there was a scratching noise, and Ivy looked up towards the top of one large boulder. Snow fell down the sides as a dark shape emerged from under the white, shaking itself off. It had red accent feathers and two gold ovals on its head and chest. The Sneasel grumped a bit, like it wasn't too happy. Since they were mostly night Pokémon, this one probably hadn't had a lot of sleep. It was still pretty early.

“Well, Angel, here's a Pokémon for you. This Sneasel seems interested since it got up from napping.” They hadn't made that much noise, and being part Dark type, she wasn't sure if it could feel the Psychic energy coming off of Haji or Rayl. “Want to try catching a Sneasel?” she asked.

Ivy just laughed a bit. “So I see. Well, I'm Ivy Frost, and this is Haji.” She motioned to the Psychic cat-like Pokémon beside her. “We'll be taking you up the icy mountain today, and dont bother with the jokes, I've heard them all.”

Angel was taken aback a little, did she already not like him considering the way she warned him? or was this the way she treated everyone. He hoped it was the latter and decided to get on her good side, then he quickly shook his head back to the here and now before his mind started to wander about 'good sides.'

"I wouldnt ever dream of making fun of your name, I think its an unusual and pretty name." Angel said with a half frozen smile.

The four of them walked through the gate, Angel almost forgot about the cold as the sky began to absorb more light. The sites as they walked were very pretty. Even Rayl thought so as she glided above the snow, Angel could feel her warm emotions as she took in the view.

Then Angel noticed Ivy was alert to something, he then heard the scratching as well. It was a Sneasel.

“Well, Angel, here's a Pokémon for you. This Sneasel seems interested since it got up from napping. Want to try catching a Sneasel?”

"He would be a great asset to the team, its gonna be difficult getting him and Rayl to get along though, well see..." He turned his attention to Rayl. "Hey I know you can take him for me, but I dont want you getting too beat up this early on, I know Equinox will have no trouble, and I know you wont mind."

Rayl nodded in agreement, and Angel felt his mind calm with her assurance almost like an added acknowledgment. Angel smiled at her and pulled out a second pokeball. He expanded the ball, and opened it in his hand, a tall flaming chicken appeared and the snow around it melted into steam.

"Alright Equinox, I know you can take this thing, lets make this quick and easy." Angel said with complete faith.

"k, Equinox, start things off with a Fire Punch! I dont want it knocked out, just dont miss!"

Equinox crouched down ready to lunge at the Sneasel, she looked down at her fist and it ignited in red hot flames. Her fist seemed to burn the cold air around it away. The flames danced and licked her fist. Satisfied, she sprung up and lunged at her target. She reared her fist back wanting to put as much speed behind the hit as she could.

Angel's whole look changed as soon as he saw the Dark and Ice type Pokémon, like he was already planning how he would go about catching it. “He would be a great asset to the team. It's gonna be difficult getting him and Rayl to get along though...” He trailed off, speaking more to himself than the Ranger.

He looked at his Gardevoir next, telling her that even though he knew she could handle it, he wanted her to wait until later. He pulled out another Pokéball, and in a flash of red light a tall, flashy looking chicken appeared. The Blaziken's energy was so warm that she melted the snow around her, causing steam to rise up surrounding her feet. It made for quite the effect.

The Sneasel watched this happen curiously. He straightened up on his perch, and called out his own battle cry as he realized the Trainer wanted to fight. With a jump he left the rock. He trailed his claws behind them, and Ivy heard the scraping as they grinded against the stone. The Ice type pulled them off with a rapid jerk, and the sunlight now beginning to peak over the mountainside gleamed off of them, revealing their sharpness. The Sneasel studied his opponent closely, taking in every detail he could. The first attack he gave was probably going to hit really hard.

Angel reassured his Blaziken, named Equinox, then instructed her to start off the battle with a Fire Punch. He also made sure to clarify that they didn't want to knock him out. That was a good call; he couldn't catch a fainted Pokémon.

The fighting type crouched down, getting ready to dart off. Her fist ignited as she did so, and the flames danced along her clenched fist. She waited a moment and then shot off, throwing back her fist in order to gain extra momentum and force behind her hit.

As the fire Pokémon neared, the Sneasel decided it wasn't going to wait around. Unfortunately, being a little impatient left it wide open to the fire attack, and even though he tried to dodge out of the way, the Blaziken's fist still smashed into the Ice Pokémon's shoulder. Sneasel went crashing down into the snow covered ground. He didn't slide far, as Equinox was taller and hit at a downward angle, but from the way he winced, he probably took a decent amount of damage.

This just seemed to anger him though, and there was a nasty streak in his eyes as he called out his defiance and lunged to strike back. He slashed through the air, aiming for the Blaziken. Since she had stopped with the finishing of her attack, she coudln't move fast enough before the Sneasel struck. He lashed out at her in a slashing motion, his deadly sharp claws striking her front as he knocked her backwards. The Sneasel then retreated a bit, circling around towards the large boulder he had started on, eyeing them all warily, still ticked off.

Equinox looked mostly alright, but Angel was pretty lucky the Ice type hadn't cut somewhere vital open. From her limited battle experience, she knew some moves, if performed right, could do extra damage. “You guys alright?” Ivy called, just to be sure. They were going to have to be crafty to catch this Pokémon.

Equinox stumbled backwards from the hit but quickly shook it off. She shook her head and locked her gaze back on the dark, cat like pokemon, intent to not get beat by it. She seemed to pay no mind to the cut she had just received.

Angel smiled at the Sneasel. "oh, a little ticked are we?" he said with a smug.

"You guys alright?" Ivy called to Angel.

"Yeah yeah, were cool, don't worry Iv, we've been in tighter spots." Angel said, not realizing he had just nicknamed someone he had just met, while at the same time, not letting his eyes leave his target.

He focused his voice back towards the Sneasel. "Looks like were gonna have to stop screwing around now, you aint no pushover I see."

Right now, the two of them, trainer and pokemon, had the same thought. They were not going to get beat up by this pokemon, let alone lose to it.

"Equinox!" Angel commanded breaking the cold silence in the air once again. "Bulk up!"

The bipedal fire pokemon seemed to be waiting for this command and almost as soon as he said it, her whole body began to tense. It seemed to sturdy itself, as well as gain more muscular tone. When the move was then completed, the flame cuffs on her wrist seemed to burn even hotter and brighter than before. Her eyes, as some would have noticed, burned just as bright.

"Alright, now we get creative..." Angel said to anyone that was listening. It was a habit he had, and he liked the habit.

"Equinox, use Hi Jump Kick on that Sneasel!"

Equinox obeyed and began her attack on her target. Using her long legs she seemed to be able to bounce along the snow until she was next to the Sneasel's rock perch. She bounced up once more to come to level with the Sneasel. Right before she unleashed her attack however, Angel called out once again.

"Quick! switch it up with a Blaze Kick!" His plan involved the fact that Sneasel was expecting the fighting attack. He knew that even though the new attack was generally the same he hoped it would be able to surprise it enough to score a good hit.

Once again, Equinox obliged and a flame erupted from what seemed like no where, this time engulfing the user's foot and calf in a scalding hot flame. It amazed Angel sometimes how pokemon could be immune to their own attacks.

When Equinox unleashed her attack, the flames licked off her foot and left a trail of ember that dissipated into nothing. If someone didnt know this was a pokemon battle, they would have called it a fire dance. Angel kept his smile hoping this would have worked. His heart was racing with excitement.

Ranger Ivy Frost

“Yeah, yeah, we're cool. Don't worry, Iv, we've been in tighter spots.” Ivy just blinked at the nickname given to her, not really knowing what to think. In fact, she didn't think it was possible to make a new name out of her already short one. She just shrugged, deciding she didn't really mind it.

Angel acknowledged that the Sneasel wasn't one to take lightly, and then he called out for Equinox to kick it up a notch. He instructed she use Bulk Up, and the Fire type listened straight away, like it had been waiting for that command. Her muscles bludged as she tensed, and she looked stronger and able to take more hits than she had before. She also seemed quicker for some reason, and it took Ivy a minute to figure out why. Then she remembered that Blaziken had a previously undiscovered ability that made it faster and faster. The Rangered wondered a little how it was going to affect the battle.

“Equinox, use Hi Jump Kick on that Sneasel!” Angel called.

The Fighting Pokémon obeyed without hesitation, bounding off after her target quickly. Ivy watched with interest. That particular move was pretty strong, but also came with a high risk. There was a chance that the attack could miss and damage the user instead. Since the Sneasel was quick to retaliate, that could be very dangerous, especially when it hit hard.

Equinox neared the rock the Sneasel stood by and leaped high into the air, arcing herself downward to strike. At the last second, Angel called out. “Quick! Switch it up to a Blaze Kick!” Ivy was impressed; it looked like Angel was getting creative to match the sneaky Pokémon.

The Blaziken listened, and her foot and lower leg burst into a dancing yellow, red, and orange flame that burned brightly. The Sneasel didn't notice Equinox's increased speed, and he made a miscalculation as he tried to move away, trying to cirle around the rock. It didn't work very well though, and the Blaziken came crashing down onto him, nicking a piece of the big boulder in the process. It shattered that part of it, showering both of them in bits of rock. Sneasel went tumbling, obviously hurt, while Angel's Pokémon sort of stopped where it was.

Equinox was stunned a bit by the impact, and the Sneasel recovered from his sprawl with a vengence. He sucked in a deep breath and released it towards the Fire type, sending and icy cold wind laced with chunks of ice at the stopped Pokémon. It was a little wet, and Ivy could see bits of ice and snow freezing onto Blaziken's coat. That would probably slow her down a little. It seemed the Sneasel noticed how fast she was.

Then, as Blaziken started moving, the Ice type scuttled backwards and focused, kicking up a large ice chunk and firing it forward. It hit some of the rock debris and flung it towards Equinox. She cried out as it struck, and Ivy remembered that both of these Pokémon were weak to rocks.

The Sneasel panted from his place, clearly tired but not willing to give up yet. Soon he would be ready for capture if Angel played it right.

Angel was surprised at how quick the Sneasel reacted after taking the Blaze Kick, but knew that there wasnt much Equinox could do after being stunned. Angel then visually hesitated when he saw Equinox get pelted with the rocks to go along side the ice. Knowing it was her weakness, it scared him a little. Finally the attack was over and to Angel's relieve, Equinox didn't look too much for wear, and he smiled to himself. He should have known that wasn't going to do much to Equinox, and shook his head for thinking such a thing.

"Alright Equinox." He said with no waiver of confidence. "Lets finish this party up." Equinox turned her head a little and nodded.

"Lets get in close, use a quick attack!" Equinox obliged.

The ice that had attached to Equinox did indeed slow her down, but with the speed of quick attack and the addition of her unique ability it almost seemed like it didnt matter. In what seemed like a blink of an eye she was standing over the shorter Sneasel, an eerie feeling of foreboding arose. Thenl Angel said one more thing.

"Double Kick, just... dont knock it out"

With her speed and the power enhancement of Bulk Up, her kicks would be even better than before, it would be difficult for her to hold back.

"Alright stand back after your finished Equinox, I'll finish this off." Angel reached into a pocket he had on the leg of his pants, unbuttoned it, and felt around. He quickly pulled out a park ball, expanded it and threw it after Equinox's attack. The ball flew straight and true. The only way it would miss was if there was a huge gust of wind. Then Angel realized how possible that was up here, and could have shot himself in the head for jinxing himself.

“Alright, Equinox,” Angel called, “Let's finish this party up.” The Fire type Pokémon nodded and braced herself, ready to do whatever her Trainer called to her. “Let's get in close and use a Quick Attack!”

The ice chunks embedded in her coat slowed her down a little, but once she was into the attack, she disappeared with a blur, leaving only slight outlines of where she had once been. She then appeared right in front of the Sneasel, and before he could react, slammed into him using her larger body. The Sneasel was knocked back, and fell down into a sitting position in the snow.

Then Angel called out another thing. “Double Kick, just...don't knock it out.”

That was a very good call. Though he had stated at the beginning of the battle that they didn't want to incapacitate the Pokémon, it was still good to remind them. It was easy to get caught up in the heat of the battle and forget. Sneasel also looked really worn out. Ivy wasn't sure how many more hits he could take.

Equinox prepared her attack, using one of her kicks to boost herself off the ground. It made the attack seem like a High Jump Kick, only less dangerous and risky because it didn't throw her up so high. The Sneasel looked too exhausted too move, and he only managed to scoot a little ways back before it was hit by the kick. He slid across the ground, making a wide track in the snow. Then, stubbornly, he struggled to stand. He then jetted off like Equinox had just done, performing his own Quick Attack and almost sending the large chicken off balance as he struck.

This brought him closer though, and while Equinox had been attacking, Angel had been digging in his pocket for a Parkball. He gave it a toss, and Ivy noticed he looked panicked for a second, like he had just thought of something bad. The ball flew straight though, and while Sneasel was recovering from the attack, the ball connected with his back, sucking him into the device in a beam of red light. The ball rocked back and forth in the snow for a while and then stilled.

Ping! The sound of a successful capture rang out among the snow and rocks.

“Congratulations, looks like you have a new member of your team.” She walked over to the ball and picked it up, shaking off the snow on it before sticking it in a zipper pocket. “As per Park rules, I'll hang onto this until you're ready to leave.” She looked around and noticed they had made it to the split in the path. “Oh, so here we are. We can either head down the path that leads up the mountainside or we can head into the mountain itself. I'll leave that choice up to you.”

Haji came over to join her, sitting down at her side and watching the Trainer with interest. There was nothing coming from his end of the mental link though, so she had to assume he was content enough.

Angel watched transfixed as the ball shook before finally coming to an end. There was a soft ping and Angel smiled

"Alright Equinox! You were awesome out there!" He ran up to his pokemon and patted her on the shoulder. "I'll make sure I get you somethin' special when we get back, somethin better than no more cold, I know you hate this too." He took her ball out of her pocket again and expanded it "You get some rest now, I'll need you again later." with that, he shot a red beam from the ball towards Equinox, however before it connected he felt something cold hit his face; a snowball, and by the time Angel figured out what had happened Equinox had already vanished, but not before leaving the sound of pokemon laughter.

"That! She!" he shuddered "she threw a snowball at me!" Angel said to anyone listening. He looked at her ball in his hand. "You know Im gonna get you back!" and he dropped the ball back into his pocket. Then finally he wiped his face as best he could.

"Thankyou very much Ivy, but we'll have to see who else we run into out here before I make my final decsions." He watched her pick up the ball. "No problem, just dont hurt him." Angel said jokingly.

Angel responded to her last statement. "Well Im gonna pull off some deductive reasoning here and say we go up the mountainside I would guess that's where more ice pokemon would be." He began to make his way up the mountainside, despite it being much colder up there, he knew that was where his prize would most likely be at.

Then Angel stopped suddenly realizing something. He turned towards Ivy. "Im sorry, this may seem weird but," he paused, "did I call you Iv during the battle?" He asked, feeling a bit foolish

Angel praised his Blaziken before returning her to her Pokéball, which she thoroughly approved of. Though some Pokémon didn't require it, it was still a nice gesture and one should let their partners know they appreciated them. Battles could be long and difficult, and Pokémon were not slaves.

The Trainer got situated and then answered her question. “Well, I'm gonna pull off some deductive reasoning here and say we go up the mountainside. I would guess that's where more ice Pokémon would be.”

She nodded and began to head up the correct path. She wasn't sure what he was looking for exactly, but the whole mountain was littered with Ice types. While it was true a lot of the fighting types could be found training in the caves, Pokémon didn't strictly stay where they usually were. They strayed all over the place. Hopefully they would come across something more he was looking for; she always liked runs that kept the Trainer interested.

Angel suddenly stopped after a few moments, piping up to ask her something. “I'm sorry this may seem weird but, did I call you Iv during the battle?”

She turned and smiled, nodding. “Yeah, you kinda did. No worries though. I haven't had a nickname in a long time. It's kinda neat.”

She was going to continue, but a cute cry from ahead on the path distracted her. She felt a prickling interest from Haji, so she checked it out. A small pink and yellow human-like Pokémon was posing on top of a snowbank off the side of the path in front of them. It had yellow hair and strutted cutely. Ivy recognized it as a Smoochum, an Ice and Psychic type.

“Well, here's an Ice type for you. Any interest in this one?” At Ivy's words, the Smoochum stopped her posing and turned to look at them curiously while she waited for Angel's answer.

As they continued to walk, Angel let Rayl out of her ball again to add to the company. The four of them traveled along the snowy pass all keeping quiet. The sky had gotten brighter and signs of the morning sun were showing more and more. Then Ivy answered his question.

“Yeah, you kinda did. No worries though. I haven't had a nickname in a long time. It's kinda neat.”

"Really?" Angel said, not to convinced, but shrugged it off. "Well then glad to meet you again Iv." He said with a smile. His heart jumpped when he heard the cry of a pokemon, however he knew it wasnt the cry of a Snorunt, for he had heard it many times before. When it showed itself he instantly recognized it as a Smoochum and Ivy confirmed what he knew.

“Well, here's an Ice type for you. Any interest in this one?” At Ivy's words, the Smoochum stopped her posing and turned to look at them curiously while she waited for Angel's answer.

Angel looked at the Smoochum and thought about having it in his party, he did like ice pokemon but he then looked at its type and finally made a decision.

"No, I dont think I need one, lets try getting away. Besides, Rayl is all the psychic I need for now." He said with a smile. Rayl rolled her eyes and her eyes began to glow. Angel then found him self flat on his back in a puff of snow.

"Ahhh! Snow down my back! Not you too! Iv! Help! Abusive pokemon!!" He screamed in faked desperation.

 

(OOC: Escape failed. If you buy a doll they are 500, and you subtract from your stats the amount right away, like we do in the Mart in the form of Total Amt - 500 = Amt Left. I say running a tab in the post specifically for the role play only.)

“No, I don't think I need one. Let's try getting away. Besides, Rayl is all the Psychic I need for now,” he said, smiling at his Pokémon. Rayl just rolled her eyes before using her psychic powers to dump Angel backwards, kicking up a cloud of flaky snow as his clothes became filled with it.

Ivy just shook her head as he shouted, the words subdued by the laughter that snuck into his tone. She began to head onwards and up the path, seeing how he wasn't interested in capturing a Smoochum today. He eventually got back up and followed her. It wasn't long after that when she heard the wild Pokémon cry out, stopping as Haji did and turning to look.

The part Psychic type had come down from her snowbank and sat in the middle of the path, puffing out her cheeks and putting her arms akimbo. She looked agitated that they were just leaving. Haji made a noise a little like a puff, and to her it seemed amused. She looked down at him in question. Then she felt that warm burning on her mind, signalling the mental bond they could share.

“She is like...what do you call it, a diva.”

Ivy laughed out loud at Haji's comment, happy that he had thought to share with her. Indeed she did seem like one, strutting and posing about. It looked like she wasn't going to just let them leave.

“Alright, Angel, we can't just leave like I hoped. You can either try to distract it some way and try to run again or you can buy a Pokédoll to do it for you. I'll run a tab for you if you do, and I can add anything else you purchase from the Park on it. If we just try to run again, there's the risk she'll get really mad and attack you, so choose carefully.”

After relaying the information, she waited for his choice. While most of the Park Pokémon were friendly, some of them got agitated really easily and others just didn't want to leave Trainers alone if they got interested. It was unfortunate, but it happened.

Angel stopped pretending to struggle and got himself up, he brushed the snow off and shook the snow out of his shirt. He then took off after Ivy. "Thanks for helpin me out Iv, what a help you were."

Before they could get any further he heard the Smoochum again and saw it slide down its snowbank in front of them. She sat in the middle of the path, puffing out her cheeks and putting her arms akimbo. She looked agitated that they were just leaving.

Angel dropped his head a little and raised his eyebrows "Oh come on, you have got to be kidding me, Im being stopped by something the size of my sister's doll?"

"Well it looks to me like she disagreed with what you said about needing only one psychic type" Angel heard it in his mind and looked at Rayl. She had a slightly amused face on her.

"Oh yes, Im glad you enjoying this, Ivy. I think I know what my team needs more than her." He turned to his associate, "Hey, can you get me one of those pokedolls. I just hope they're not too big, I dont want to crush her with it."

He shook his head "Seriously. stopped by a Smooochum! Id never thought Id see it." Angel said to no one at all.

"Angel, dont make me drop you in the snow again." He spun towards Rayl "You wouldnt!" She didnt say anything, however there was an air around her that spoke "try me."

“Oh come on, you have got to be kidding me. I'm being stopped by something the size of my sister's doll?” Angel complained. “Hey, can you get me one of those Pokédolls? I just hope they're not too big; I don't want to crush her with it.”

Ivy nodded and made a note on her phone about the doll, starting a tab up for him. She liked to do it that way – it was a little messy if they were exchanging funds in the middle of a run. Then she reached into her pocket and pulled out one of the dolls, laughing as Angel seemed confused at its very small size, not much bigger than her palm. She walked closer to the Smoochum and set it down in the snow, pulling a small string on it that made it inflate to a little bigger than a watermeleon.

Smoochum instantly became enthralled with it, and she thoroughly ignored the two humans as she began posing and twirling for her new audience. The two took that time to get away, heading up the mountainside.

The light snow soon thickened the higher up they went, and the banks lining the path curved higher and higher as the snow under their feet bunched up. Ivy was still nice and warm in her cloak, but she worried a little for Haji, who was walking in it in his bare paws. She supposed she could always recall him and send out Haxbat, though she wanted to get as much time in with the Espeon as she could. Not to mention this type of weather was not the greatest for the Crobat.

“I am fine, though am grateful for your concern,” his voice said, and she shook her head, knowing she must've let her thoughts leak again. She was about to respond to him when his energy prickled and he said, “Darkness.”

She stopped and tensed, looking for what Haji had felt. The path had given way to many more rocks and boulders now, and they dotted the white landscape like chocolate chips on ice cream. A clacking noise was soon heard, and as they came around a corner to see better, Ivy saw an orange and yellow lizard-looking Pokémon chipping away at a rock, like it was in training. It had a red mohawk and what seemed like baggy pants that wanted to fall down. This one was one of the new Pokémon that had been previously undiscovered at the Park. If she remembered, it was called Scrafty. No wonder Haji had mentioned darkness; this one was part Dark and Fighting type.

“Here, Angel, a tough looking Pokémon. This is a Scrafty, one of the newer Pokémon. Want to give this one a whirl? I hear they're pretty strong.”

Angel watched as the little Smoochum was distracted by the inflatable doll. "Im impressed, Ive always been curious on how a doll can distract any and every kind of pokemon out there. If I was a Gyarados Id just ignore it... or swallow it"

Angel and Ivy walked by the Smoochum who seemed to be rather enjoying herself. He smiled and shook his head at the thought of how it had worked. "Come on Rayl, lets keep going." Rayl followed hovering just above the snow.

Angel walked a bit thinking about ways to next spend his money, he had only four pokemon and no idea what to invest in next. After this run he would have three more. The options were endless. He was so engulfed in his thinking he forgot how cold it was. He was just following Ivy.

Next to him Rayl could feel his thoughts swimming and decided to have a little more fun with him. The two of them were very close. She knew that both her and Equinox weren't going to be able to get away with their antics against him. She was probably going to wake up some morning with marker all over her face. She missed being small enough to rest on his shoulder but was content with following next to him keeping an eye out while he had his guard down. She was a tad annoyed to think though that she had inherited some of her closest friend's relaxed demeanor. She would have gladly fought for Angel, but was defiantly content with sitting out the first battle to rest a little, despite being in perfect health.

Once again though, Rayl thought she needed to mess with Angel a little more today. She connected their minds.

"Hey Angel, need I remind you that you are traveling with a female that you find quite attractive?" She smiled knowing she had received exactly what she was looking for.

Angel nearly tripped and fell face first into the snow. He was able to catch himself though and shot a flustered look at Rayl who seemed to have missed the whole ordeal and was content at looking at the cold sky in the distance. Angel found it hard to go back to what he was thinking and instead stared at the back of Ivy's head. He thought maybe if he stared long enough he would be able to see her face using some sort of weird x-ray vision.

Then Ivy stopped and Angel nearly ran into her. He looked around to see what had happened, but Rayl beat him to it.

"Its a Scrafty, I think you should catch this one, hes strong by the look of it. Also it might be best to use Equinox, and me as a last resort. Angel nodded in agreement.

Angel looked and found it. An orange and yellow lizard-looking Pokémon chipping away at a rock, like it was in training. It had a red mohawk and what seemed like baggy pants that wanted to fall down. This one was one of the new Pokémon that had been previously undiscovered at the Park.

“Here, Angel, a tough looking Pokémon. This is a Scrafty, one of the newer Pokémon. Want to give this one a whirl? I hear they're pretty strong.”

"Yeah, I think we will" Angel answered Ivy. The happenings of a few minutes ago vanished with the site of this new and very unique pokemon. "Just give me a few seconds to prepare."

Angel reached into his pocket to pull out a pokeball. He swung off his backpack, placed it on the snow, bent down, and searched until he found two items. The first was what looked like a cologne spray. He proceeded to spray the area around him with it until the bottle was empty and then tried to wave away the scent with his hand. He discarded the empty fragrance bottle into his backpack.

He next released Equinox once more. "come here girl, I need to give you this before you fight that thing." She approached and bent to his level. He took the final item he had pulled out and pressed it against her shoulder like an injection, then pressed the button. "There you go, that should heal you up a little bit. We need everything to fight him, he looks tough, and this wont be easy. He then threw the empty super potion back into his bag. He zipped up his bag and threw it back over his shoulder.

Angel looked at his Blaziken. "Okay, start off with a Bulk Up, I dont want to be getting beat by this thing, I want some defenses up." Equinox nodded.

Angel turned to his opponent "Okay Scrafty, were ready." And with that as her que, Equinox tenced up her whole body and moved into a fighting stance. Her fire cuffs reignited as well, burning as hot and frightening as ever. Her muscle tone grew and her body seemed to become harder in responce to her first attack

They waited to see if the Scrafty had taken notice.

“Yeah, I think we will,” Angel said, answering her question. “Just give me a few seconds to prepare.”

The Trainer stooped down and ruffled through his pack, bringing out a few items. One bottle he uncapped, and a familiar scent came wafing out, one Ivy recognized to help soothe wild Pokémon and make them a little easier to capture. He put the empty bottle back into his pack when he was done and then released his Blaziken once more.

“Come here, girl, I need to give you this before you fight that thing.”She went over to him and bent down to his level as he took another bottle and sprayed her with it. It had a slight medical smell to it, and when Ivy saw the bottle, she spotted a Super Potion. Almost instantl,y Equinox looked better, more healthy, like she hadn't taken any damage at all. That was probably good; this Scrafty looked like it would put up a good fight.

Angel then looked at his Blaziken while she stood up, debating what to do. “Okay, start off with a Bulk Up. I don't want you to be getting beat by this thing. I want some defenses up.” Then he turned towards the Fighting type and said, “Okay, Scrafty, we're ready.”

Equinox responded by getting in her battle stance, tensing as her muslces seemed to grow with added strength. She seemed more durable now, like she had before in the last fight. It had worked once, maybe it would work again. Then, she and her Trainer waited for the Scrafty to take notice.

It had, and Ivy watched as it turned from its rock carving to look at them. As he did, Blaziken caught sight of him and seemed to wither a little, like she was intimidated by the other Fighting type. It might make her hit a little less hard than normal. Ivy wasn't sure how much that would affect the battle.

Then, Scrafty warped his face grotesquely, and the Ranger saw Equinox stagger a bit. Ivy wondered what the Scrafty was trying to do. Then, it made strange motions with its hands, moving in an interesting circle pattern like a dance. The Ranger worried a little; it seemd that while Equinox was bulking up, the other Fighting type decided to do the same. It seemed faster now, and more focused. It was going to hit hard, and probably soon.

“Careful, Angel, this one is going to be much harder than your last battle. Some of the same techniques you used last time might not work this time.”

Angel watched as the Scrafty weaved its initial buff ups and casted his intimidate on his Blaziken. He cussed to himself realizing that not only had the Scrafty managed to neutralize his bulk up, but he also managed to delay Equinox's speed boost. Angel liked fighting with speed and did not like how this match was starting. He had to think up something good, and he had to do it fast.

Angels mind raced as fast as it could and Equinox waited patiently, her eyes focused intently on her opponent, not daring to blink. Equinox was not going to loose to another fighting type pokemon. Her pride as a fighting type was on the line and her adrenaline was pumping through her fast. Her hear raced but she continued to wait for her trainer's cue. She had complete and full trust in Angel and knew that what ever he choose to do was the best course of action.

She used to want to voice her own opinion on what to do, but eventually found that to be a pointless task for she couldnt ever get her point across. Eventually she came to find that Angel knew what she was doing and concluded that he could make good decisions and she had to trust in his judgement, even if she didnt agree. Sometimes she found herself wanting to do something different but she learned that to be one with her trainer was to trust them through and through regardless if they lost or won. This time was no different, before she may have wanted to attack by now, but now she stayed focued. That was what was going to help her win. Focus on relaying Angel's commands to her body, and preform the moves to the best of her ability.

Then suddenly it came to Angel, the fact was that even thought Scrafty was indeed a fighting pokemon, it was also part dark. Being so, made it weak against his own type. On top of this weakness was Scrafty's second weakness: flying. Angel had almost forgotten about Equinox's Brave Bird attack, preferring to use Flare Blitz instead in dire situations. Angel's eyes widened when he knew he could win this fight. He would still have to get creative though. Finally his brain screeched to a halt and he voiced his commands.

"Equinox! First were going to start with a Fire Spin! I want that thing trapped and taking damage!"

Equinox, though a bit slower than usual opened up her mouth, inside a red glow began to emit. It grew brighter until finally a bright red flame shot from her mouth. It moved in a spiral fashion towards its intended target. The flame, if it connected with its target, would encircle the prey until the attack became a vortex of weak long lasting fire. It last for a bit, while at the same time hurting the target but still allowing the pokemon the freedom to attack.

"Now Equinox, follow it up! get behind him with a Quick Attack! I know you can still get fast enough to surprise him!" Angel said after the Fire Spin was launched. He spoke knowing that the Scrafty couldnt hear them over the Fire Spin just used. Equinox didnt give any indication that she acknowledged him. She just took off and executed her Quick Attack to get behind him. She wasnt as fast as usual but was able to get behind him still rather quickly "Now! shoot him in the back with a flamethrower! Burn him down some more."


"now... I hope that didnt catch you off guard too bad." Angel said with a smirk

Angel cursed (which made her smirk, considering the pun on his name), realizing that in taking time to boost Equinox's stats, the Scrafty had time to set up and negate hers. He was going to really have to think to overcome this. She had heard that Dragon Dance was a very powerful technique that others on the mainland raged about when facing it in battle. She hoped Angel would think of something.

The Trainer suddenly perked up and called out to his Pokémon. “Equinox! First we're going to start with a Fire Spin! I want that thing trapped and taking damage!”

The fire bird listened immediately, opening up her mouth to start the attack. A glow formed, and it grew brighter until blistering flames erupted, shooting towards their opponent like a curling snake. They weaved into curls, cirling around Scrafty as he started to turn into a vortex of flame. It was a pretty good idea; it put the Dark Pokémon in a confined area to let them plan better. Ivy didn't believe for a minute that he was defenseless though.

“Now, follow it up! Get behind him with a Quick Attack!” Angel called, and the Blaziken did, making it seem like her speed drop was nothing. “Now! Shoot him in the back with a Flamethrower!” Equinox began to charge this next attack up, and Ivy heard Angel mumble something else, though she didn't catch what it was.

While Equinox had been attacking, Scrafty began to do another type of dance, this one seeming to affect the air around him with energy. It wasn't powering him up but shifting something instead. He wasn't paying much attention to the fire growing around him though, as he danced around, and some of the fire singed him as he whirled around. He seemed to not be bothered, but that would probably cost him later. Ivy was still wondering what he was doing for sure when Haji spoke up into her mind.

“The air shifts. The clouds grow dark. There is moisture on the air.”

Ivy instantly looked up and saw that the Espeon was right. In the last few minutes the clouds had gathered and darkened, looking heavy with moisture. She took in a big breath of air and found that it did indeed smell like water. Then, it started to pour.

Ivy gasped at the sudden rush of icy drops, shivering a little as the wind kicked up on the frozen plain. Scrafty had started a Rain Dance and the weather had answered. That wasn't very good. Rain would power down the fire moves Equinox used, as well as chill her. Ivy could also start to feel some of the drops start to crystalize. It was probably going to turn into sleet and hail.

It was then that the Blaziken fired her flamethrower at Scrafty, a strong jet of flame that would probably break through the fire tornado already surrounding the other Fighting Pokémon. The Scrafty turned rapidly as it saw the Blaziken's quick movement, and through the gaps in the flames provided by the makeshift rain, Ivy saw him tense and prepare another attack.

He seemed not too fussed about the Flamethrower either, and as he spun into an attack, the fire struck him a bit. The rain had worn it down a bit though, because he only flinched a little before turning his body into rapid spin, and then he sunk down quickly, kicking snow and dirt up as he dug deep into the ground.

Ivy was impressed by the move. By using Dig, Scrafty was going to be able to avoid the recurring damage from Fire Spin until he came back up and Blaziken redirected it. She shivered as she waited to see what Angel would do next, throwing her hood up and crouching down so Haji could be covered by her cloak and protected from the weather.

He curled up next to her in what she hoped was a content gesture, and then he spoke. “He moves quickly, around and around.”Haji could feel the other Pokémon's energy through the ground, and she wondered how Equinox was going to do the same.

Angel watched the awkward dance and then felt something cold start to hit his head. He looked up to see rain, sleet, snow, and hail begin to fall from the heavens. The bits of frozen and unfrozen water impacted on Equinox leaving what looked like tiny burn marks. Angel did not like how this was going to be. Then Angel noticed something; the bits of precipitation that touched Equinox's fiery cuffs disappeared in a puff of steam, never touching her wrists. This also occurred with the vortex of dancing flame surrounding their opponent. He was about to call out a command when the Scrafty decided to drill its way underground.

"that sneaky little bastard." Angel said shaking his head. "First he makes it rain and then he hides from me. Well I'll tell you one thing, Were not going to sit back and wait for him to surprise us!"

Equinox shouted out her own species name in raw agreement, the water burns seems to not bother her at all.

Angel knew scoring a hit on it was going to take more than what he had planned, but decided this time he was going to plan as he went.

"Equinox! Use Mirror Move, get underground and go after it!"

She quickly accepted the command. For a moment her eyes glowed white as she processed the move that was just used in front of her. When her eyes faded back and reacted quickly by punching her fist hard into the ground. She continued in using her three huge talons on each hand and in a few moments she was gone leaving a hole and a lot of dirt next to the hole.

Angel ran towards the hole and slid across the snow. He collapsed to his knees as he approached and landed in front of it. He then bent his over the hole, only to receive a hand full of sand thrown to the face. He closed his eyes quick enough to avoid having to tear the sand out later on the same wasn't said about his mouth, as he was just about to yell into the hole. His mouth was powered with sand. He tried his best to spit out as much as he could as quickly as possible and made a note to be aggravated later.

"Equinox when you find him! Use your Slash attack to do some damage! Get in as many hits as you can down there!" Angel was able to spit out along with some of the sand.

Angel knew that being down there was more of an advantage than a disadvantage. She would escape the water in the air and her Slash attack would be the best attack to use down there despite being confined in such a small space. He smiled to himself and wiped some more sand off his face. he then looked around the battlefield looking for a sign of where the two would resurface.

It was quiet on the mountain, Angel would dare not move. The wind had died down now and the only sounds that were heard was the different forms of water hitting the ground. Angel strained his ears to try and listen for anything, underground or above.

The waiting was beginning to make him fidget. He had complete trust in Equinox to try and get the job down there. He absolutely knew she would do well down there, however that didn't stop him from wanting to go down there too and find out what the heck was going on. Part of him also wanted to scream down in the hole to hurry the hell up, cause it was cold up here, but he decided that wasn't going to do him any good.

In order to actually do something instead of wait-for he had already spat up as much sand as he could without water-he slid his backpack off his shoulder and threw it towards Ivy. It landed a few feet next to her own feet.

"Hey, can you hold that?" Angel said and went back to listening to the quiet battle underground.

Hmmm, yeah that worked well. Angel thought to himself at the little amount of moving he actually did just then.

Rayl's small giggles were heard in his mind, but he ignored it and she didn't press the matters. She knew what he was not to be disturbed right now.
