    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

“That sneaky little bastard,” Angel muttered, and Ivy just laughed. His Blaziken agreed with him, calling out her rage into the open field while getting pelted by the weather. Her flames steamed as the water and ice touched them, causing the water to melt and evaporate on contact. Eventually it would wear her down, but if they hurried, they could maybe think of something to avoid it.

The Trainer looked determined not to let this effect them negatively though, so he nodded to himself and called out to his Pokémon without hesitation. “Equinox! Use Mirror Move. Get underground and go after it!”

Equinox's eyes glowed as she remembered the attack she just saw. Then, they faded back to their original color and she immediately took her sharp claws to the ground, digging rapidly. Before long, she disappeared into the dirt, the scraping sound lessening the farther down she went. Ivy was impressed; copying your foe was not always easy.

Angel ran over to the hole his Pokémon had made, dropping to his knees and eagerly leaning over the edge to see. For his troubles, he received a clump of dirt and fallen snow to the face, and he sputtered and coughed as he swiped at it. Sand fell out of his mouth, so he must've been just about to say something as the debris from Equinox's digging came flying at him.

He spit up as much dirt as he could so he could speak, then shouted into the hole. “When you find him, use your Slash attack to do some damage! Get in as many hits as you can down there!”

Being underground was a mixed blessing really. On one hand, it got the psuedo-bird out of the weather and gave her close quarters to attack her opponent. As neither of them were natural diggers, Ivy was pretty sure the Blaziken would have a greater advantage with her sharp claws. Scrafty had boosted his speed and strength though, so she wasn't certain.

On the downside, it put both of the battlers out of range and out of sight. Equinox was pretty much on her own down there. Angel wasn't going to be able to direct her until she came back up. That's what made Trainer-Pokémon teams so efficeint really, being able to team up, so it would be interesting to see how she fared on her own.

The field was silent as everyone listened and watched for a sign of the two Pokémon. There was only the whistling wind and the thunking of heavy drops and hail. Ivy watched Angel go completely still as he stretched his senses to listen. After a while, he slid his heavy backpack off of him and threw it in her general direction. The Ranger lifted her eyebrow when he called out, “Hey, can you hold that?” He went back to his watching, and Ivy just laughed.

She remembered a Trainer who took his Rotom to the Park, making it carry his stuff, calling it Good Housewife. She heard it had just dumped the stuff on the ground and ran off playfully, showing what it thought about the generalization. Ivy just shook her head, leaving the pack where it was. If he wanted it, he could carry it around himself. Beside her, she felt a twinge of amusement from Haji.

Smiling, she placed her hand against the ground, trying to feel for any indication of where the two were through vibration. She strained her own senses, trying to find them, but found nothing. She knew Haji would have an easier time of it, being able to sense them through his psychic abilities. If they were closer, she supposed she could've used a bond to sense along with him. She tried to keep those thoughts to herself.

Suddenly, there was trembling, and not twenty feet in front of her, a form burst through the ground, sending bits of frozen ground, rocks, and snow showering over them. Ivy jumped in surprise, but crouching on the ground didn't leave her with any time to get out of the way. She covered her face with an arm to try and protect her face from debris, but nothing hit. She looked to see Haji focusing intently beside her, and any rocks that got close were pushed away by some imaginary force.

She smiled, seeing the Espeon do those little things for her. “Thanks, Haji.”

Without having to worry about getting hit, she looked back to the field. The Scrafty rose in the air a little more before starting to arc downwards, landing next to a larger boulder with a plop. It looked like he had just used a Hi Jump Kick. He was panting a little, and Ivy saw a thin scratch down his scaly black stomach, so she knew Equinox had done some damage.

A cream hair-like form followed out of the hole next, and Equinox emerged, also panting. She crawled out, looking a little battered but okay. It looked like she had taken a hit from an uneven object, like perhaps a headbutt of some sort. Her fists were no longer coated in flame, likely snuffed out from the time underground. She flinched in shock a bit as the cold rain hit her, but she stubbornly kept an eye on her opponent.

Ivy rose and took a few steps back away from the hole in the ground, motioning to her cloak for Haji to follow so she could cover him. Then, they waited for Angel to make another move.

Angel listened to everything around him trying to pinpoint where the two Pokemon were underground. Finally he heard and felt rumbling underground closer to where Ivy was. Then the ground began to bulge and split apart as the Scrafty blew out of the hole. It flew until if fell next to a boulder two sizes bigger than it. The rocks peppered what Angel assumed was Haji's protect attack freeing her and Ivy from harm. Angel wasn't so lucky and had to shield his own face as the bits of earth and frozen water hit him. Luckily he wasn't as close by and didn't do as much harm as it could have. This didnt mean that he wasnt going to wake up the next morning without some bruses on his arms and legs.

Next Equinox emerged from the hole looking a little worse than he did before he entered underground. The flame cuffs on her wrist were put out by the lack of oxygen and the cold air underground. The weather continued to affect Equinox and Angel knew he had to do something to stop it. An idea he had before Equinox went down the hole came back to mind. He looked over at the fire spin that had just about dissipated from the lack of a target and concentration and began to put his idea to work.

Equinox was a step ahead of Angel and began to redirect and reignite the fire spin again, but she moved it back towards the Scrafty thinking that was what Angel wanted, but that was the exact opposite of what Angel was thinking and wanted.

"Equinox, hold it on the fire spin. I want you to move that fire spin so it engulfs you. Your a fire type and it will do you hardly any harm."

Angel smiled at his idea, sure it did Equinox a little harm but it was hardly note worthy and the best parts were it protected Equinox from the weather for the most part and acted as a makeshift shield to the Scrafty's physical attacks as it would hurt itself when it came in for a close attack.

The fire spin swallowed Equinox whole and the effects were immediate. Equinox felt the burn but the flinch involved was almost non-existent. Mother nature was put out almost all together as most rain drops, snow, and hail disappeared once it entered the vortex it was so hot. Blaziken's cuffs also reignited in the flames and she looked as proud as ever

"Now, hit it with a Sand Attack! follow that up with a flamethrower!"

Equinox obliged from inside the vortex, Equinox kicked at the ground with her massively strong legs and sent a torrent of sand towards her target, then Equinox followed it up by shooting out a horizontal pillar of fire out of her mouth closely following the wave of sand. bits of molten flame fell out of Equinox's mouth as it didnt gain enough power to be shot foward. It fell to the ground and melted the snow before disappearing. The sand proved useful as it acted as a shield for the flame, a decoy, and its original purpose; to lower accuracy.

Then Angel noticed an effect he had not thought about when he used the fire spin the way he did. It brought visibility for both combatants down. The Scrafty could not see what Equinox was doing very well inside the pillar as streams of fire moved in front of Equinox. The same went for Equinox however as sometimes the streams would come in front of Equinox's line of vision and she would loose site of her target. Angel knew this could then only be temporary and wouldn't work in the long run.

outside the battle the sky began to lighten with colors that matched those of Equinox's flames. The two people on the mountain right now would have been able to appreciate it beauty if they had not been entranced by the battle raging on in front of them. Other than that the mountain stayed as quiet and calm as ever.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Equinox caught her breath and didn't even wait for her Trainer as she called up another Fire Spin. She started directing it towards Scrafty again, thinking this was what Angel wanted, but he was quick to correct her.

“Equinox, hold it on the Fire Spin. I want you to move that Fire Spin so it engulfs you. You're a fire type, and it will do you hardly any harm.”

The Blaziken didn't hesitate to follow the command, redirecting the fire tornado to come back towards her. The whirling flames swept through and surrounded her, and though she flinched a little, Ivy didn't think she was that hurt. The best part of the flame shield came into effect right away as the sleet continued to pelt down. Now, instead of striking the Fighting type, they evaporated in a hiss of steam without damage. Her cuffs even ignited again, and she called out a challenge as a proud look came over her face.

“Now, hit it with a Sand-Attack! Follow that up with a Flamethrower!” Angel called.

While the psuedo-bird was prepping for her next attacks, the Scrafty was working on his own. He tensed up and took a good look at the larger boulder next to him. With a heavy swing of his arm, he shattered it into pieces about the size of her head or bigger. With the added strength boost, he was able to lift some of them easily. Then, he tossed them into the air one by one, slamming them forward as they came down.

He only got two off though before Equinox finished her attack, kicking up a dust stream that parted her flaming shield as it shot towards the Dark type. She shot her flame out after, riding the tail of the sand. The only bad part about the Fire Spin was that it was going to hinder her aiming since her sight was blocked a little. Then again, Scrafty would be facing the same difficulty since the Fire Spin was not perfectly round.

Scrafty kicked up and launched a couple more rocks before the sand hit him. It was a little skewed, probably from the fire twister being in the way, but Ivy saw it catch his left side, brushing past his eyes and causing him to flinch and drop the rock he was holding. He frantically swiped at his face, trying to clear his vision, but that caused him to miss the streaming fire coming next.

It hit him with a loud whoosh, and it crackled and snapped as he was thrust backwards to the ground. He scrambled away, scooting backwards as he patted himself to kill the flames. He took cover behind the other large pieces of rock, flinching as he moved. It didn't look like he got a burn from the attack, but it certainly didn't look pleasant.

A cry had Ivy turning her head back to Equinox. It looked like one of the hurled stones had managed to hit its mark, but the rest were laying far beyond her, harmless. The Fire type seemed okay, since the Fire Spin was still going strong and she wasn't stumbling from what the Ranger could tell. She wondered what Angel would do next. The Blaziken wouldn't be able to keep up the Fire Spin forever. It was probably already getting worn down by it. She supposed they would just have to wait and see.

Because of the fire spin and the bright lights that it gave off he had trouble seeing what their opponent was doing. Angel ran around Equinox to get a good look at the Scrafty before Equinox launched her attack. He looked in time to see the boulder shatter and then start launching stones as big as its head towards Equinox. At the same time she launched her attack. Angel watched as the sand almost missed its target but was able to connect and do what it was intended for. The deadly pillar of flame then connected an instant later catching the Scrafty off guard. He had been trying to wipe the sand away.

His idea went perfectly as the Scrafty was knocked backwards as the flames licked over his body. The Scrafty was on the ground by the time the attack was completed. He backed away trying to hide behind the rocks he had shattered for his attack where he tried to put out the lingering fires. He was not burned but Angel noticed it did serious damage.

"Alright Equinox! That's how you do it!" Angel yelled out to her inside the vortex. he fist pumped once to show his excitement and pleasure in the successful attack.

Angel then noticed the Fire Spin attack was beginning to dissipate. The time on the attack was up and it disappeared into the air only leaving Equinox behind. Angel hadn't noticed her cry over his excitement but then saw that she had gotten hit by one of the stones. She had a bruise beginning to form over her chest. He also gave her a full look and noticed the other cuts, bruises and scrapes she had, but still she stood tall. She was breathing a little heavier but that was about it. Angel felt an immense satisfaction and caring for the pokemon and made a note to thank her for her hard work very much later.

The weather began to affect Equinox again, but he knew he wasn't going to have to stop the weather. He knew Equinox would be fine in it. He also knew that this battle was close to over.

He turned his mind back to the battle. "Okay Equinox. Hes hiding you've got him on the run. Don't let him recuperate or collect himself!"

Equinox understood and charged at the pile of broken rock. She seemed faster than before her flame cuffs trailed out behind her like jet engine trails and she was actually starting to blur. Then when she got close enough to the rock she bounded over the rubble and saw the Scrafty behind it.

"Now Equinox use Blaze Kick!" Angel shouted, confirming what Equinox thought he was thinking.

She lifted her leg high into the air ready to bring it down in a scissor kick. However before she brought it down. Burning red fire materialized itself around her foot and it licked, danced, and consumed her foot. She put power into this kick and let her voice carry in her power.

Angel watched her complete her journey to her target and was mesmerized. He loved this pokemon. It was his friend and he was proud of her. Well, who was he kidding, he was proud of all his pokemon friends.

“Alright. Equinox! That's how you do it!” Angel called as he displayed how happy he was at the outcome of the attack.

The fire vortex then started to dissipate, the flames fading as they twirled until they vanished completely. Without the cover, the Blaziken's injuries were finally visible. She had several bruises and scrapes, though none of them looked particularly bad from where Ivy was standing. The bird-looking Pokémon still stood tall, waiting a second before taking action.

“Okay, Equinox,” he called again. “He's hiding, and you've got him on the run. Don't let him recuperate or collect himself!” That was probably a good idea. Though Scrafty was losing strength, he still probably had a lot of fight left in him, and if they gave him time to set up his own plans, they could really suffer for it.

The Blaziken didn't lose any time and charged towards the rock pile cushioning the Dark type. She no longer seemed slower, instead dashing off at her usual speed. She leapt over the rocks and Scrafty, landing on the opposite side and turning quickly back toward her opponent. Angel called out for her to use Blaze Kick, and the pseudo-bird complied. Her foot burst into red dancing flames as she kicked her leg forward and flew to strike the wild Pokémon.

The Scrafty saw what was going, watching as Equinox sailed over him. He quickly turned as she landed behind and was trying to scramble to his feet as she called out her challenge. He was pushing himself up with his hands when the bird connected, and in a flash, the Scrafty tried to retaliate, swinging his arms up on both sides. Ivy saw a dark shape in each of them, and then the Blaziken was being bashed with rocks.

Both Pokémon were sent flying away from each other. Scrafty went tumbling through the snow, away from his protective rock pile. He got up slowly, panting as he did, watching his opponent. He was pretty beat up. Ivy wasn't sure how much longer he would last, but she was sure he could still hit hard. The Blaziken was knocked down by the rocks, but she didn't go far, only to the edge of the ring of broken rocks.

Both Pokémon were worn down now, moving slower and exchanging less forceful blows. Hopefully the battle would be over soon.

Even as she thought it, Scrafty looked like he was getting focused. He went still and tensed, bracing his feet and keeping his eyes locked on Equinox. If Angel didn't do something, she was going to get hit hard.

Angel watched as Equinox finished the execution of her powerful blaze kick. Then he watched her get hit by a Knock Down attack. He surveyed the two of them and realized that this battle was about to come to an end. He went to pull the backpack off his shoulder until he realized that he had thrown the backpack over towards Ivy. He looked over towards Ivy and her Espeon to see that it lay in the snow ignored by her as she intently watched the battle.

He cursed to himself for throwing it without realizing he still needed it and that now anything at the bottom of the bag was probably soaked. He looked back at the battle field to see the Scrafty had gotten himself tensed up and looked to be focusing for something. Angel’s eyes grew wide as he knew what was coming.

“Oh shit.” Was all Angel said and he ran towards Ivy and his bag.

He slid in front of the bag and collapsed to his knees. He forced open the bag and plunged his hand inside. Items could be heard clanking around and his arm moved inside the bag searching for something. He then cursed himself again for being disorganized until finally; he found what he was looking for. He ripped his hand out of the bag, exposing a park ball being grasped tightly by his hand.

“Damn it…” he said to himself and dropped it in the snow.

His hand dove in a second time and began to swim around the inside of his bag. Then his eyes lit up after finding something else; a hyper ball.

“Uuuugh…” Angel was getting more aggravated. He smashed his hand into his bag a third time. This time his arm moved even faster. Suddenly he quickly withdrew his hand with a pained expression. Removing his hand exposed some red blood on it.

“What the hell?!” Angel exclaimed and looked inside his bag. He reached in and pulled out a pair of scissors with more of the same red liquid on its tip.

“Uh… right.” He said with a twinge of embarrassment and went to place it in a different pocket.

He looked behind him to check on the Scrafty and Equinox. Equinox seemed to have lost her concentration because of her trainer’s antics, and the Scrafty was still charging up.

“Just, one second!” Angel called out and opened up another pocket to put the scissors in. He placed the scissors in and then his whole body visibly dropped. He pulled his hand out and extracted a super ball.

“Found it…” Angel then stood up, shook his head and looked back at his partner Equinox. He was back in the game and ready to finish this. He knew he would have to hit that Scrafty before it launched his attack or things would not end well. He also knew that he could not hit it too hard or else he could knock the Scrafty out and all this effort would have been a waste. The thoughts racing through his mind were causing him to tighten his grip on the super ball and making his knuckles white. He knew that she would pull this off because she always had. She did it against the Sneasel and she did it against all their other opponents.

He remembered the many trainers that they came across and she had defeated. She, along with Rayl, was her best fighters. Angel got both of them about the same time. He had found Rayl one day while he was out walking the routes between his hometown and the next city. She was curious and he satisfied her curiosity. She stayed with him when he went home which convinced him to go out and go a little pokemon training. The next day he ran into the Torchic that would soon be called Equinox. Him and Rayl battled it and were able to catch her. The three of them worked hard fighting strong opponents. More often then was desired they were stuck facing ten year old kids that had just started their journey. It was boring and at times very annoying but he braved through it because it was easy money and easy experience.

Skip forward a little bit and they are both evolved now. Equinox had trouble learning sky uppercut but after weeks of trying to perfect it they were finally able to get it. Now they were here. Equinox could perform all of her attacks flawlessly and without hesitation. Angel and Rayl had a psychic link to each other making them close but him and Equinox knew each other just as well. She was a brave as any person he had ever met, and could kick their asses on top of that.

Angel came back to the present day. Equinox was back to staring intently at the Scrafty whom was still in the process of charging up for his attack. Looking for that super ball in his bag had wasted valuable time. Angel had to think of something and his mind went into over drive. The hamster on the wheel of his mind ran its little legs to death until finally it was allowed to rest. Angel smiled and looked at Equinox.

“Equinox, I’m willing to bet that that charge is for an attack, that means that if it wants to execute the attack it’s going to need to stay put. That means this is going to be easy pickin’s for you.” Angel looked towards the tensed Scrafty.

“Equinox, ready your Fire Punch. Make sure it’s powered so it doesn’t knock it out, however, I want it really really close…”

Equinox gave Angel a nod, knowing this was the last attack. Equinox put the points of two of her talons together. Then she flicked them together creating a kind of finger snap effect. In an instant burning red fire was licking and dancing around her fist. It worked its way up to her cuff and didn’t go any higher. Embers flickered off her fist and disappeared as it went any further into the air.

“Hey, that was a new trick.” Angel said a little surprised.

Equinox smiled at her master’s comment and charged at the Scrafty. She reared her fist back and prepared to strike.

At the same moment Angel stood ready with his super ball. When he saw Equinox rear her fist back he sprang into action. He fan up to get closer to the action, and took aim. Angel ran through his mind on possible scenarios, where it would land if it got hit this way, if he got clipped, if he jumped out of the way, etc. At last he finally figured what the best idea would be, and he shot the ball forwards by throwing it from his side. The ball followed Equinox in. Now all was left was to wait.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Angel saw Scrafty tense, and immediately his eyes went wide. “Oh shit,” he said.

He reached for his back, but the hand grabbed at nothing but air. Ivy realized he must've been looking for his backpack. It was still heaped on the ground where he had tossed it, untouched. She left it there. She was like a tour guide for this trip, not a butler.

She watched as Angel ran over to the bag, and even Haji tilted his head as he observed. The Trainer rummaged around in his bag frantically for quite a while, pulling out things as he went, not finding what he was looking for. She had heard somewhere that the faster you try to do something, the slower you actually go, and she thought that Angel might be proving that one right.

Equinox was equally puzzled at what her Trainer was doing, and she shifted the majority of her attention to the guy, cocking her head a little as she watched, like Haji was. That could be a little dangerous, but Ivy knew the bird was probably keeping watch out of the corner of her eye.

“Just one second!” he called, and then he finally stood up, holding a Superball. Then he turned and smiled at his Pokémon. “Equinox, I'm willing to bet that the charge is for an attack. That means it's going to need to stay put. Ready your Fire Punch. Make sure it's powered down so it doesn't know him out. However, I want it really really close...”

The Blaziken nodded, understanding the suggestion. Scrafty was already pretty weak. It wasn't going to be able to take too many more hits, especially super effective ones. She was glad that Angel was taking that into consideration. She wouldn't want to see the wild Pokémon knocked out after they had come so far.

Equinox flicked her talons, and in a snapping motion, they lit up, causing dancing flames to flare up around her cuffs. The Trainer commented on the trick, and the bird smiled, seeming happy to please. Then, she charged with her fist, preparing to strike.

Scrafty was still focusing hard, though she could see him coming back into the present. It wasn't fast enough, however, as the Blaziken's speed was continuing to rise the longer the battle went on. She streaked towards the other Fighting type and slammed her flaming fist into him. Ivy could tell she pulled back a little at the last second though, so she didn't hit with full strength.

Not able to dodge, the Scrafty went sprawling into the snow, flying backwards in a flip and landing stomach down several feet away. He braced himself on an arm, trying to push himself up, but he only managed to rise a few inches. It was then that Angel decided to throw the Superball, and it sailed through the air, landing squarely on his back.

The Pokémon was sucked up inside the ball, and it shook weakly before finally coming to a stop in the snow. Another echoing ping rang out, and Ivy smiled.

Walking over, she snatched up the new ball and added it to the pocket with the Sneasel. The sleet then stopped, tapering off into a lightly falling snow. She turned toward Angel. “Well, looks like you bagged another one. Fun battle. Where to now?”

Before he could say anything, a tapping noise sounded, followed by a happy gurgling. Ivy quickly turned, and on a rock ahead on the other side of the path, a Pokémon watched.

It was shaped like an ice cream cone with stubby points for arms and a floppy head with a smile. It's icy base was what was making the sound. It was jumping up and down on the stump, waving its arms about, like it was cheering for the Trainer. Strange, but interesting. Ivy smiled at it, and it gurgled again.

“Well, Angel,” she said, “here's a Vanillish. They're one of the newer discovered Pokémon as well. It looks like it was watching you battle. It might be willing to join in if you want. What do you think?”

Angel watched as the Scrafty was sucked into the super ball that he threw. He saw the ball catch the Scrafty in the chest and watched the ball fall into the snow. The ball tried to move in the snow but it was fairly well stuck and all it did was shake a little, until finally the ball came to a rest and a loud ping echoed throughout the mountain.

Angel pumped his fist once and yelled out a loud “yes!” He ran over to Equinox and threw his arm around her. He didn’t want to tackle her because he knew she was weak from the battle.

“That was awesome Equinox! You were amazing!” Angel said with a big smile. The cold hardly fazed him. Equinox smiled back at him but couldn’t take Angel’s weight as well as her own. Angel took the hint.

“Okay Equinox, you were awesome, I’ll let you have a little rest. If I need you again, I’ll make sure to heal you up.” He pulled her pokeball out of one of his pockets and returned her as Ivy picked up the super ball he used to catch Scrafty.

Then Angel heard the sound he looked higher up the mountain to see a Vanillish bouncing on its body playing cheerleader. Angel smiled and waved to the pokemon

“Hey there! Thanks for cheering me on there!” He turned to Ivy
“Nice little guy, but I don’t think I want one. It’s really cool but oh well. Let’s keep moving.

Angel gave the Vanillish one last wave and made to leave down the path.

Angel waved and thanked the Vanillish, but he wasn't interested in capturing one. Thankfully, the Ice type took the hint and just waved back, hopping up and down and gurgling as the two people continued down the path. She was glad; there had been other days where every Pokémon in the Park had wanted a piece of the Trainer she was escorting.

The snow continued to lightly fall, and Angel let his Blaziken have a well-earned rest, promising to heal her up if he needed her again. At the rate they were going, there could be quite a few battles ahead for them. There was little sound other than the lightly blowing wind and the crunching of snow under their boots. Haji was quiet in their mind link, which was normal, and Angel wasn't saying anything. It was peaceful, something she didn't get back at the office.

Suddenly, Haji's tail twitched, and he slowed in front of her to tilt his head. She felt him reach out with his senses as she stopped too, and after nodding at him when he looked back at her, he began to lead the way up the path. Soon she heard what the Espeon had sensed. The chipping of rocks.

She couldn't help but feel a sense of deja vu, since Scrafty had been doing this exact thing when they came upon him. This Pokémon was a bit shorter though, and a cool gray-blue color. It had three bone-like fins on top of its head and curious red eyes. She saw it look at them, and then with a grin he turned back to his rock. With a sharp cry of “MACHOP!” he brought a fist down onto the boulder in front of it, cracking it neatly in half with a loud snap.

It looked back at them and grinned, puffing out its chest a bit and flexing its arms. Ivy laughed, turning to Angel.

“Well, this Machop would probably battle you if you wanted. I know you just got out of one, but what do you say?”

IC:Angel had been walking for little with his ranger and her pokemon. That was, until Ivy gave a sign that there was something nearby. Then he heard it, the distant thumps. Then he found the source of the noise. Up ahead was a Machop that was practicing on a boulder. Angel smiled to himself at the irony.

The Machop turned to his guests and tried its best to show off its strength. Angel smiled as well but remembered something about the Machop family.

“Well, this Machop would probably battle you if you wanted. I know you just got out of one, but what do you say?” Ivy turned to Angel and said

“Naw it’s okay, I actually already have a Machamp, and someone was kind enough to just give me theirs. Call me really lucky.”

With that, Angel decided it was time to leave. However instead of deciding to just walk off, he decided it would be better to not take a chance. He turned to Ivy.

"Hey, I don't want to take a chance that it wont leave me alone, can you use one of your unpopable super dolls?" Angel asked Ivy kindly, he was anxious to move on and didnt want something he already had, holding him up.

Angel informed her that he had recently been given a Machamp, the final evolution of Machop, so he wasn't interested in another one. She nodded and tried to lead them down the path, but the Machop left his pile of rocks and began to follow them, perhaps looking for some sort of feedback regarding his training.

As instructed, Ivy made another tally on her phone as she pulled out another doll, popping the cord and setting it down for the Fighting type. The Machop lost interest with them as it saw the doll, and it quickly carried the thing back to its rock pile where it proceeded to flex and wave its arms as it continued to train. Now that it had an audience it would leave them alone.

They headed up the path more, and the snow got a little deeper. Ivy started to sink an inch or two into the ground with every step. She looked down to check on Haji, but he seemed to be doing fine. Since he was light, he was still able to walk on top of the snow without breaking it easily enough. The snow continued to fall down at a sedate pace.

Lately, there had been less Trainers on this mountain, them opting to go to Deckbi instead. A lot of people that actually did come here seemed to find what they wanted quickly on the lower part of the place, so they often ended up leaving early. It had been a good while since she got to venture farther up the mountain.

The snowbanks were sculpted higher and higher on the side of the path as they went up. Then, there were crunching and swishing sounds. Ahead they came to a carved out cave in one of the banks, and a small Vanillite came into view, dancing around in the snow. It was a miniature version of the Vanillish they had seen earlier, with a more rounded ice cream cone base than a pointy one. It's swirly-shaped head housed two curious eyes, and the Pokémon blinked cutely at them as they moved by.

Ivy stopped and pointed it out. “What about this Vanillite?”

Angel had been walking for a little bit, it was nice seeing the views of the icy mountain. The huge packs of snow, the piles that looked to make natural sculptures, It was all extremely calm and pretty to his eyes. After walking awhile Ivy spotted another pokemon, it was a Vanillite, a miniature version of what he had seen just a little ago made him laugh a little bit.

He thought about this a little, it was easier to catch the basic form but decided against it. Angel really wanted that Snorunt and unless he found something better than the Sneasel he wasn’t getting rid of that. As for the Scrafty, they were rare to find and in high demand he knew that, there was no way he would get rid of that, who knew what he could get with it.

“Naw its okay, I don’t know if it’s spotted us yet, so maybe we can sneak by. In truth Iv, what I really came to this mountain looking for was a Snorunt, I don’t think I’ve told you that yet. I love Froslass, and really want one, I think it’s a very strong pokemon and love its typing. It’s one of my favorites and I think it would get along great with my Equinox and Rayl. Just as long as they don’t all gang up on me…”
An almost evil laugh worked its way into his mind as soon as he said that. Angel took out one of the pokeballs in his pocket and looked at it in his hand.

“You shush! No evil thinking is allowed you hear!?”

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Angel decided against the little ice cream Pokémon, much like he did to its other evolved form they encountered. Luckily, when the group tried to pass by, the desert-looking creature let them go, just waving at them like its counterpart had done earlier. She decided she liked this family of Pokémon. Too many lately had wanted to pick a fight.

The Trainer then went into how he was really looking for a Snorunt. Froslass was one of his favorites, apparently. She noted though, that his whole team seemed to be composed of females, as Froslass could only be a girl...

“Are you trying to make a harem, Pervy-kun?” she asked, grinning at her use of honorifics, a habit she was picking up from her boss.

She thought as much for the Pokémon he was searching for though. Most people came to the mountain looking solely for that one. Snorunt was pretty rare though, so she wasn't sure if they were going to see one today. There were plenty of other cool Pokémon on the mountain in her opinion, so she didn't doubt he would still leave with a mittful. They were having good luck so far.

They continued on, and the path began to slop upwards a little. She had to be careful not to slip on some of the more hard-packed snow, as that didn't break when stepped on. She made it a habit to keep looking back for her Trainer, making sure he wasn't sprawled out at the bottom of the hill or something.

Suddenly, after turning her head back from one of those checks, a puff of snow erupted in her face. She coughed a little and waved her arms in front of her to clear it, and then she shot Haji a look, feeling his laughter through their link.

There was another heavy whoosh sound, and another puff of snow came from a ledge in front of them. She made sure to dodge that one, and then she continued up to see what it was about. A gray-tinted Pokémon with purple-ish veins sticking out from its limbs was revealed on the ledge. It had a cute, big red nose and was working on picking up snow-carved bricks and layering them like a wall. As she looked, it seemed as if that was exactly what it was doing: making walls.

“Hey, Angel, come check this out,” she called, waving him over. “It's a Gurdurr. Looks like it might be trying to make a house of some sort. Maybe to keep out the cold winds.”

Ivy really liked this Pokémon for some reason. It evolved into Conkeldurr, a strong Fighting type. If she was on a run here, she would definitely catch this one.

The Gurdurr turned its head as the people moved to be even with the ledge, setting down a large ice block it had been holding high above its head. Ivy smiled at it and waved. “Hi there,” she said. Then she turned toward Angel. “What about this one?”

Angel was happy that they were able to get past the Vanillite without much fuss. Then Ivy decided to screw with Angel

“Are you trying to make a harem, Pervy-kun?” Angel stopped dead at the comment and looked at Ivy, he had never been accused of being a perv, let alone trying to put together a harem.

“w-w-whaa?” Angel looked at Ivy and finally put himself back together.
“For your information, look at the last two pokemon I caught, both males thankyou very much!” Then Angel decided to get her back a little.
“Why you jealous?” he said with an evil smile.
    Then he saw the Gurdurr.

“Hey, Angel, come check this out,” she called, waving him over. “It's a Gurdurr. Looks like it might be trying to make a house of some sort. Maybe to keep out the cold winds.”

Angel thought it was cool that it was building a house and thought it better to leave it alone. He gave it a wave and decided to keep moving.
“It’s cool, I have plenty of fighting pokemon already.”

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Angel sputtered at her comment before coming up to see the hard working Pokémon. He recovered fairly quickly though, and he shot back a comment that impressed her a little.

    “Why, you jealous?” he asked.

She just grinned and winked, waving her hand nonchalantly. “Nah, I already got one if I wanted.” She was fairly sure she could convince all of her Rangers to cooperate.

Angel then considered the Gurdurr. He waved it off and started to move on, however, saying, “It's cool, but I have plenty of fighting Pokémon already.” That was fair enough, she supposed.

A stirring in her mind link made her look down at Haji as he spoke to her. “Pity he did not want to trade it. Think of all the things we could strong arm Leo, Chainy, and that lazy Buzzer into doing.”

Ivy burst out laughing at the comment, having to bring her hand up to her mouth to stifle her chuckles as they continued on. Thankfully, the Fighting type just went back to work, letting them go along.

The path continued to spiral up the mountain, and they passed many large snowbanks heaped to either side of the road. There was sparse vegetation, and it started snowing harder as they went, covering up any possible small shrubs that could grow in the harsh environment.

They came upon a tree then, and she was surprised it looked so sturdy. It was around waist height, maybe three feet tall. She didn't think anything grew that well up here. Then the tree moved, shaking its limbs, revealing two green-tinted eyes and pine-colored arms.

“Oh, that's a Snover. Those are pretty rare. Want this Ice type, Angel?” she asked. It wasn't a Snorunt, but she wasn't sure if they would even see one. At least it wasn't another Fighting type. Besides, Angel was just allowed to take three Pokémon out of the Park; it didn't mean he could only catch three. If he caught more, he would have a pile to pick from.

Angel once again almost tripped over his own self when he heard Ivy’s comment.

‘Man, I need to get a job at this place’ Angel thought to himself. Rayl stayed quiet; if you could see her she would have rolled her eyes.

Angel then found himself baffled when Ivy laughed at loud at what seemed like nothing, it clicked however when he looked at the Espeon.

“I... don’t think I want to know…” Angel said outloud to no one in particular.

They came up on a very lively tree. Angel was surprised that it was here, he was then even made more surprised when the lively tree moved.

“Oh, that's a Snover. Those are pretty rare. Want this Ice type, Angel?” Ivy asked.

Angel thought about it, it wasn’t a Snorunt, but it was close, its super weakness to fire would prove difficult but as Ivy said, it is rare and it’s hard to come across one, if anything he knew someone else would want one. Then there was the fact that if he really wanted to he could switch it with Snorunt if he found one.

“Yeah, okay, I’m game. Angel said as he reached into his pocket. He pulled out a small pokeball and expanded it.
“Hey there little tree man, you’re getting captured!” As Angel said this he threw out the ball and in a flash of white light Rayl appeared.

“Hey Rayl! You ready to have your first battle out here?” She voiced her approval and looked at her opponent with a smile.
“Let’s go Rayl, let’s try to catch that little guy off guard! Shoot off a Hypnosis attack!” Angel knew this attack had very shaky accuracy but it would be well worth the risk if it hit. Only a few times had his opponent ever actually waken up almost right after the attack hit.

Rayl complied and set to work with the attack. She thrust her arms out in front and began to send waves of psychic energy at the Snover. Only one with keen eyes could see the distortions going through the air. It was like looking though a fishtank. Angel crossed his fingers that it would hit. That was all he could ever do when it came to Hypnosis. He had decided it was better to unleash only one attack for now and base off the next attacks on if this missed or not.

    (OOC: Gender?)

    BP#10

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Angel decided to fight, calling out to the Snover, informing it that it was going to be captured. The tree-like Pokémon took more interest and became more awake at the call, shaking itself off further, causing more snow to pile around it. The weather acted up a little more, causing the heavy snow to become thicker and harder, crystallizing into ice chunks. Ivy knew the Ice type Pokémon had an ability to call down snowstorms, but she wasn't sure if this was the mountain or the Pokémon.

This time, Angel called on Rayl, his Gardevoir, to battle. He released the Psychic Pokémon, and she appeared in a flash of light. With a long and willowy white dress and sleek green hair, she was beautiful. Ivy briefly felt Haji's appreciating vibes from their mental link. She knew Dual, Chainy's Gallade, would've been even more 'appreciative'. He probably would've made a fool out of himself flirting too.

The Ranger and her Pokémon both focused in on the battle as Angel called out his first command: a Hypnosis attack. Although it was fairly complicated to perform and direct, if it worked, the Snover would be rendered pretty helpless if it fell asleep.

The Gardevoir concentrated with her arms in front of her, and Ivy could feel the hair on the back of her neck prickle as energy filled the area. The wind started to howl, and the Ranger had to pull her cloak a little tighter around her, motioning for Haji to get close. The Espeon huddled near her legs, and she hoped that Rayl would be able to execute her attack under the strain of the weather.

She felt more than saw the rings of energy beginning to form in front of the Gardevoir. They were very faint to the eyes, and the blowing snow didn't help visibility at all. She saw a little though, probably partly due to training with her elusive Crobat and partly because her bond with Haji allowed her to 'see' some things she never had before. Energy signatures were one of those, though she couldn't always sense them at will.

Rayl finished charging and sent the waves out into the storm, heading straight for the Snover. Ivy wasn't sure if the Ice type saw it or not, but either way it decided to stay put. Maybe it thought it wouldn't be able to dodge – they weren't that fast – or maybe it just couldn't see the incoming attack.

Thick, green and brown vines shot out from its feet into the snow, like it was anchoring itself in place. Ivy recognized it as Ingrain, a move that secured a Pokémon down but allowed it to absorb nutrients from the ground. She supposed it didn't really need to move much. If she remembered right, it had a variety of long distance attacks, and the snow would help it dodge a little bit.

The vines stopped their digging as the Hypnosis rings approached, though they wobbled a little. The snow pelted down, and unless her eyes were playing tricks on her, the wind curved sharply upward and to the side with their own form of energy. The waves from the Gardevoir jerked a bit and veered slightly off-course, and Ivy thought they were going to miss the Grass type completely, but the bottom part of the last ring clipped the Snover on the side of the head.

She watched as its eyes slightly drooped, though it fought to keep them open. It fell asleep shortly after, but the Ranger wasn't sure how long it would last. If Angel had some sort of plan, he was probably going to have to hurry. The weather too would hurt Rayl the longer the battle went, like with Equinox earlier.

“That attack barely hit,” she called through the wind. “I'm not sure how long it's going to stay sleeping. Be careful!”

Angel watched as Rayl released her attack. In the meantime it seemed that the little Snover had decided, it was time to snow, and snow it did. The wind started to pick up a lot and the air instantly became cold. The snow began to fall harder and in bigger clumps. The weather was beginning to get pretty nasty.
“Well that’s just great, more weather…” Angel said as he remembered the Rain Dance attack the Scrafty used on Equinox.

Through the weather Angel was just able to make out the Snover. It seemed to be rooted to the ground. There were small brown vines protruding from its feet and attaching itself to the ground. Angel recognized it as an Ingrain attack, and moaned out loud.

“Great so now I have to deal with this crap on top of the weather.” Angel brought himself back to Rayl’s attack. After fighting with Rayl for so long Hypnosis had become one of his favorite attacks despite its shaky accuracy. Putting a pokemon to sleep was very advantageous. It stopped the pokemon from moving; there were powerful attacks that only worked when the opponent was asleep and then finally, it helped to improve the rate of capture, but only if it stayed asleep for that long.

Seeing the Hypnosis attack for so long Angel could track it with his eyes even in this terrible weather. He watched as the sleep waves travelled at the pokemon and Angel held his breath. The waves began to curve from the weather and Angel nearly freaked. Luckily one was able to hit and the Snover’s eyes automatically began to droop. Angel let out his breath.

“That was close… “Angel said under the wind.

“That attack barely hit,” Ivy called through the wind. “I'm not sure how long it's going to stay sleeping. Be careful!”

“Yeah no kidding, it defiantly won’t be asleep long” Angel said under the rain again. “Thanks Ivy! We got this!” Angel would have liked a bit more sleep time, maybe it could even stay asleep when he caught it but he wasn’t going to press his luck.

“Rayl!” Angel yelled through the snow and wind. “Hit it with a Focus Blast! He’s anchored down so you shouldn’t miss!” Angel was partially right, Focus Blast was a powerful move but it was slow, making it easy to avoid. Luckily with the Snover asleep and rooted in place it would be easy pickings.

Rayl complied and held both arms out to her side. Between her hands a spinning brown ball of energy began to form. White wisps of energy rotated around the ball of fighting energy. Inside the brown ball a lighter brown was showing meaning the attack was ready. Rayl didn’t need to look to see if it was ready as she had already practiced and used this attack multiple times. She then held the ball in one of her hands and blasted it from her hand as she shot it forwards. The attack did seem to move slower than what one would expect.

Angel found himself holding his breath again

    Ranger Ivy Frost

“Thanks, Ivy! We got this!” Angel called, going back to peering at the battle. He didn't look too happy about the weather effects again. At least solid snow was better than slushy rain. “Rayl! Hit it with a Focus Blast! He's anchored down so you shouldn't miss!” the Trainer then called.

Ivy wasn't so sure about his plan. While it was true that Snover had planted itself in place with an Ingrain and was sleeping, Focus Blast wasn't the most reliable of attacks. She knew of many Trainers that raged when a battle had depended on a hit and then the attack had blown harmlessly off-course. Though the target wasn't running about the field, the attack was still a wandering energy force, much like the Hypnosis attack. Other things could affect it.

The Gardevoir charged up her attack, forming more rippling energy between her hands. These strands were brown-ish in color, and they wove into a tight, spinning ball with waves of power that peeled off and swirled around it. The inside even brightened to a light amber shade before Rayl launched it, shooting it from the hand she had shifted it to. Though immense in power, it traveled a little slow. Ivy supposed the weather was affecting it a bit, proving her earlier theory right. Angel wasn't in the clear yet.

As if hearing the thought, the snow and hail and wind picked up a bit more. The Ranger glanced at the Snover, who still hadn't woken up. As she peered though, it seemed as if it was mumbling in its sleep, uttering words in a language humans couldn't understand. The winds raged, and snow came down sharply, angling in the Gardevoir's direction. The Snover was calling down the storm to attack even in his sleep.

The Focus Blast attack fought through the storm, though Ivy could see it wobble, shifting its course a little. As the attack traveled, it tried to pick up speed a bit too, and as it got closer, Ivy couldn't tell if it would hit or not. Then, like the Hypnosis, a piece of it brushed close enough for contact. The orb hit one of Snovers branch-like arms, almost knocking it over. The roots kept it in place, and even though it looked a little scratched up, those same roots glowed and the Grass type started to look healthier, drawing nutrients from deep under the ground.

Since Rayl had been focused on her attack, she was a little tired when the winds changed. The Blizzard lashed out at her, and Ivy saw her flinch as the icy shards pelted her. It probably wasn't good for the Psychic type to be out in the open in the elements like this. The storm would do continuous damage to her, and by the looks of it, the Snover was beginning to wake to add to the damage. Angel would have to work quickly and carefully on this one.

Angel watched as the attack floated through the air. The attack wobbled and swayed, but it stayed on course as best it could. It didn’t help that the weather had decided then and there to pick up. And boy did it pick up; just an hour ago the weather was calm. It was official, Angel now hated Mount Oktori, and he hoped for his sake that he found the Snorunt he was looking for because he did not want to come back. Angel then thought of something, maybe the weather wasn’t a coincidence. Then Angel’s eyes widened, he looked hard at the Snover through all the weather but couldn’t tell for sure. Angel could only guess that the pokemon used Sleep Talk, however he couldn’t say for sure. Angel knew he had to suspect the worse, and hope the Snover didn’t use that attack again.

All Angel could do was watch though as rayl was pelted by the freezing weather. Visibility was as low as ever and Angel hated it.

He then tried to sort out his choices; he could hit it with a Dream Eater. It was his most powerful psychic attack and it could only be used while the opponent was asleep and dreaming. It also helped that the attack would heal Rayl. He also knew that this might be the last time he got to use the attack.

He then thought he could hit it with Rayl’s Magical Leaf attack. Even with the low visibility the attack would be sure to hit, however using a grass attack on a grass pokemon wasn’t the best choice.

Angel then thought about doing some stat changes as well, first there was Calm Mind. It would help against a lot of Snover’s special attacks as well as boost Rayl’s own. If he wanted to he could have Rayl use Captivate to put a hit on. There was a major difference between male and female Sonvers and Angel saw that this one was a male. Captivate would work. Using Charm could help against its physical attacks which is one thing that Angel knew Rayl had trouble against.

Angel was about to tell Rayl to do this until he realized something. The Snover was asleep, meaning that it wouldn’t even see Rayl trying to charm it. Angel nearly smacked his self in the forehead for almost pulling off that stupid move.

Angel finally decided this turns course of action was to eat the suckers dreams and hope to god it didn’t wake up.

“Rayl, Eat its dreams!” She turned to Angel and nodded, then turned back. Her eyes glowed pink, signifying that she was starting the attack. Rayl tried to drill into the Snover’s dreams. Outside not much could be seen between the two. The wind blew hard which made Rayl’s dress like part of her body ripple. The only way he would know if the attack was successful would be if he could visibly see strands of dream leaving Snover and entering Rayl.

    “Come on-come on-come on-come on…”Angel whispered under the wind
If it hit, Angel thought about using Charm next. He had to make sure that Snover didn’t do anymore major damage to.

‘Looks like I need to get more help against physical attacks for Rayl after I leave the park. I might need to find a Reflect TM.’ Angel thought.
