"Let's see who is next on the list," I muttered to myself as I opened up National Park Database on my computer. "Louise Stone..." It seemed like he wasn't very far in his journey, having no fully evolved Pokemon yet. However, that didn't mean he wasn't a good trainer. The most interesting was his Marshtomp, since it was double weak to grass types. Since he was on his way to the Botanic Gardens, it didn't seem like the best choice.

I closed the document, and opened the Pokemon Box Application. I switch out my party to best deal with the environment. Of course, Punpun, would we coming with me. He's foresight ability will always be a great asset.

I closed my computer and changed into long pants and jacket, as I've seen many unprepared rangers come back with cuts on their limbs. I left my room and walked to the receptionist desk.

"Jesse, your trainer will be here shortly," the young lady at the desk said to me. In front of her was the pack of supplies that was suggested for travel to the mountain.

I took out the Pokeball Bag designated to use for the Pokemon that the Trainer catches on the run. Then, I pulled out a Pokeball and threw it at the supply backpack. The ball cracked open and converted all the potions and pokedolls into energy. The ball returned to my hand. I took out my labeler and marked it "Supplies."

"You know, you'd get more exercise if you actually wore your pack," the receptionist said to me.

"But this is so much more convenient," I replied. I walked towards the front door, sat down and waited for Lou to arrive.

As I was waiting, a ranger and a trainer walked in. I overheard a little of their conversation:

"I've never seen so many eggs in one place," the trainer said.

"We'll, I'm glad you helped to protect the Pokemon. But I don't think that it'll be the last we hear from..."

Just then, the door opened and I turned to check if it was Lou.

OOC: Umm, the character is a girl, BTW.
    ---
"Kipper, take a rest now," I told my Marshtomp as I recalled him to his Pokeball. "You'll need your energy in the National Park." I heard him growl his name as he was sucked back into the ball. I had been riding him across a large lake, as it was the fastest way to get to the park.

Today was the day I would finally be able to go through the National Park. From what I've heard, it was a really interesting place with lots of different Pokemon. Some say they even saw a legendary. I decided a few days back that I would try the Botanic Gardens, simple yet had a nice array of wild Pokemon.

It was not long before I found my way to the park, and into a Ranger Station. It was station number five, the one for the Botanic Gardens. I quickly glanced around the room, looking for someone. I spotted a lady behind the reception desk

"Excuse me, ma'am," I said politely, "I'm Louise Stone. And I'm here to go through the Botnic Gardens. Would you know who my ranger would be today?"

A girl walked into the station. I was wondering when Lou was going to come. It was almost time for his run.

"Excuse me, ma'am," I heard the girl say politely, "I'm Louise Stone. And I'm here to go through the Botnic Gardens. Would you know who my ranger would be today?"

Oh, Louise. I read the file so fast I must have missed the "e" in her name. Old Ones, I feel dumb now. I stood up and walked over to her side.

"Hi, my name is Jesse, its short for Jester, kind of. You must be 'Lou.'" I extended my hand and smiled.

After we talk a little bit I suggested that we should start heading out. I directed Lou to the Jeep we would be taking to get further into where the gardens actually started. After double checking to see if I had brought everything. We headed down the dirt road.

After a few minutes of passing tree by tree, we made it the edge of the gardens. We got out, took all our supplies and saw three paths.

"Lou, we have three paths that you can take here: one will take you into an open field, one will take you towards a well visited lake, and one will take you further into the forest. Which would you like to pick?"

OCC: Sorry, I quickly looked at the name when I was doing this. Been taking a break from school work, which I'll be getting back to after I post this :( .

The receptionist had opened her mouth and was about to answer me, when some one tapped my shoulder. I jumped a bit before turning to see, probably, a teenage boy-older than me.

"Hi, my name is Jesse, its short for Jester, kind of. You must be 'Lou.'" He extended his hand and smiled.

"Yeah, that's me. So, you're gonna be my ranger?" I replied, smiling as well. He nodded.
We chatted a little, then headed out to a Jeep.

The vehicle was a wince bit rusty, with the paint not fully covering the jeep-thus having some "holes" of grayish-silver color on the exterior. There were also some scrapes here and there, but that's probably because of the many times it had been used;the jeep had a decent-to-good engine, though, which was a plus. All in all, the ride went smoothly, and I had a good time while it lasted-which was really not that long.

After hopping out of the jeep, we walked on a little more through a dirt road, and there lay three paths.

"Lou, we have three paths that you can take here: one will take you into an open field, one will take you towards a well visited lake, and one will take you further into the forest. Which would you like to pick?" Jesse explained, pointing at each one.

"I think I'll take that one," I answered after thinking for a moment. I pointed at the first path. "The one that leads to a wide open field."

Jester nodded as he led me to-and through-the path.

"I think I'll take that one," she answered after thinking for a moment. Lou pointed at the first path. "The one that leads to a wide open field."

"Alright sounds like a plan. We just need to be cautious as we'll be totally exposed in the wide open field." I summoned my Punpun to scout ahead of us with his Foresight as I led Lou into the area.

As we walked further into the field, we noticed an abundance of beautiful light red flowers that sprinkled the plain like a soft snow of red. A gaggle of Bellossom we're dancing in a sort of ritualistic fashion. Twirling around a rock in the shape of a giant rafflesia, the Bellossom swayed and chanted.

All of a sudden, a small Bedew jumped out of giant rock. The Bellossom started glowing, as if taking in the sun's light. The rays bounced off the Bellossom's leaves and merged into the Bedew, causing it to glow white.

The vines above its head separated, revealing the red and blue buds. Its body grew as the leaves on its body multiplied. Spike like figures jutted upwards from its head. The Bedew had evolved into a Roselia.

"You don't see something like that everyday," I commented to Lou. An evolutionary ritual done in the wild wasn't uncommon, but usually done in a private area. I guess these Pokemon felt safe enough in the park to do it out in the open like this.

The Roselia flexed its new roses and vines. As it stretched, it saw us watching. It jumped off its rock and got in a fighting stance.

"Hey, Lou, it looks like Roselia wants to battle. Maybe its trying to test its new power?"

"Alright sounds like a plan. We just need to be cautious as we'll be totally exposed in the wide open field." Jesse said as he summoned his Punpun to scout ahead of us with his Foresight.

As we walked into the field, we saw loads of of beautiful light red flowers that sprinkled the plain like a soft snow of red. A gaggle of Bellossom we're dancing in a sort of ritualistic fashion. Twirling around a rock in the shape of a giant flower, the Bellossom swayed and chanted.

Suddenly, a green-colored Pokemon with two vines on its head appeared near the Bellossom. The creature appeared to be wearing a green bib. The face was yellow, with long, black, vertical streaks as eyes. It also had triangular, stubby yellow feet. I recognized this entity as a Budew.

The Bellossom started to glow as it took in the sunlight as energy. Then, all at once, the sun's rays bounced of the Pokemon and transferred to the Budew. The smaller grass type began to glow white in turn. It was evolving..

A small Pokémon with a light green body had begun to take shape. It had a leaf skirt and a rose on each of its hands, a red one in its right and a blue one in its left. The creature also had leaves extending from its shoulders like epaulettes, while a pointed streak of yellow extended from its neck down the forefront of its leaf skirt. Three thorns emerged from the top of its head. The little Budew was now a Roselia.

"Wow.. Evolution right here," I murmured under my breath in amazement. I knew that ritual evolution was usually done in private areas. But this was just awesome to see it talking place out in the field.

"You don't see something like that everyday," Jester commented to me. I nodded in agreement. This was definitely something special.

The Roselia then flexed its new vines and roses while standing on a rock. I guess it saw us, because it had jumped from the rock and positioned itself like it was about to battle.

"Hey, Lou, it looks like Roselia wants to battle. Maybe its trying to test its new power?"

As much as I wanted to have a nice battle, I did not really want to damage my Pokemon's health right away, especially on an evolved Pokemon. Besides, I really liked to train basic Pokemon, and that was what I was searching for.

"I really want to help it test its new power.. But, I'm actually on the lookout for basic Pokemon. I think I shall pass on this one," I told Jesse.

"I really want to help it test its new power.. But, I'm actually on the lookout for basic Pokemon. I think I shall pass on this one," Lou told me.

I understood. Raising Pokemon from their infant stage helps with the connection between Pokemon and Trainer. Also, they would become stronger if raised from a younger level, compared to raised in the wild.

I shook my head towards the Roselia. "Sorry, maybe another time."

I started walking away with Lou. The Roselia didn't look too happy as we left. In fact, just as we were about 5 feet away a wall of angry looking Bellossom and Gloom formed in front of us. I turned to the left and turned to the right and saw a floral arena forming around us.

Behind us Roselia was gathering up energy in its red and blue roses, readying a huge solar attack aimed straight for us.

"It seems like they really want us to test Roselia's Power. It also seems to be readying an attack."

I waited to see if Lou would ready a counterattack or formulate a plan to escape.

Ranger Jesse shook his head at the Roselia and turned to walk away. I followed him.

But we barely made it anywhere, a few feet at most, when a group of grass types soon formed a circle around us. Bellossoms, Glooms, Ivysaurs, Roselias, and many other Pokemon began to form floral-ish arena. They were everywhere, trapping me and my ranger with the newly-evolved Roselia.

The Rose-bud Pokemon behind us began to gather up energy in its red and blue buds. They began to glow yellow like the sun... It was a solar-powered attack-a Solar Beam! And that was one heck of a huge move heading for us.

"It seems like they really want us to test Roselia's Power. It also seems to be readying an attack."

I head to think quickly. Was the creature angry? She didn't really look it, annoyed maybe? I did not know. Thus, I began to formulate a plan to escape. I thought about the Pokemon I had brought along, and what they could do. Then, I suddenly had an idea. It was really risky, but it could work, assuming Jester had...

"Hey, Ranger Jesse, do you, by any chance, have a flying type?" I asked, and quickly explained my scheme. I told him that maybe we could ride on our own flying types, me on my Starly, while Kipper would come out. My Swampert would then fire an Earthquake while we would be riding on our Pokemon slight up in the sky. I would then recall Kipper, then we could somehow escape.

"It seems like they really want us to test Roselia's Power. It also seems to be readying an attack." Lou started to formulate a plan in her head. "Hey, Ranger Jesse, do you, by any chance, have a flying type?"

She went on explain her plan. It was a good thing I requested a few HM-Pokemon, since my Pokemon are rather limited in mobility.

I called out my borrowed Togekiss while Lou called out Starly. It was sort of humorous seeing a small Starly carry a human being into the air. Togekiss leaned forward as I climbed onto the Ranger-sanctioned saddle.

Together we flew high above the ground as Lou released her Marshtomp. Marshtomp raised his fist as he plummeted towards the ground. The momentum of the fall plus Marshtomp's own power caused a devastating (though completely fixable with some work, which I will suggest later on) earthquake.

The Vileplume were shaking and tumbling around. Roselia knew that it couldn't charge its Solarbeam to its full potential, and so it released what it had towards Marshtomp. The small greenish beam hit Marshtomp in the stomach, pushing him back a few inches. The hit was light, but giving Marshtomp's double weakness, it was significant.

Roselia raised its hands above its head, shone purple, and a barrage of toxic spikes surrounded the area.

I turned to Lou and said, "We could try to escape again, though your Marshtomp might take another hit."

My ranger nodded and called out his Togekiss. We both got on to our Pokemon. I felt kind of weird and awkward riding on my small Starly. Luckily, she was strong and calm enough, even with her Mild Nature. Though, I think, her nature is somewhat advantageous in this situation because Nia is calm enough that she would not panic about whether she could carry me long enough.

We flew upwards as I released my Marshtomp. As soon as I ordered the attack, Kipper raised two of his fists. He then plummeted them, along with most of his body, towards the ground, creating a strong Earthquake.

From up in the air, I could see the damage clearly... It was quite devastating... The rules of the National park quickly flashed through my head, and I gulped with guilt. From that moment on, I knew it would be a very bad idea to use Earthquake again--for this area, at least.

The Vileplume, Bellossoms, Glooms, Ivysaurs, and the other grass-typed creatures shock and tumbled with the grass and ground. The Roselia had not enough time to charge the Solar Beam to its full potential, so it released what energy it had gathered towards Kipper. The small green beam hit my Pokemon in the stomach as I was not able to recall him back to his ball, unlike what I had planned. And though the hit was light, my Marshtomp took double damage due to his weakness.

The Roselia began to gather energy again. It raised its hands above its head, the earlier beginning to glow purple. A violet orb had been launched into the air, which then banged into the grass, surrounding the area with a poison-like barrier of some sort. The move was Toxic Spikes, and I knew Poison was not a good status ailment to have on your Pokemon.

Jesse turned to me and said, "We could try to escape again, though your Marshtomp might take another hit." I definitely did not want that to happen, and neither did I want Kipper to be poisoned. There was no other way to do things, I had to battle this Roselia, even if it may cost me a Parkball and a Pokemon.

"Kipper, great job. I do not want you to get poisoned. Return!" I recalled my Marshtomp to his ball quickly before he could get poisoned. "Okay, Nia... I need you to bring me back down to the grass carefully. Then, I want you to use Aerial Ace on that Roselia. Be sure to avoid touching the grass, especially those with Poison!"

If all would go well, my Starly would drop me off at one end of the Gardens, then prepare to gather power. Her wings would glow brightly white, and she would soon swoop towards the Roselia swiftly when enough energy was gathered.

"Kipper, great job. I do not want you to get poisoned. Return!" Lou recalled her Marshtomp to its ball to avoid trampling upon the poisoned spikes.

Lou turned to her Starly and said, "Okay, Nia... I need you to bring me back down to the grass carefully. Then, I want you to use Aerial Ace on that Roselia. Be sure to avoid touching the grass, especially those with Poison!"

Nia swooped outside the radius of the poisoned barbs and dropped Lou off.

I told Togekiss to fly upwards so I can survey from above. The dim overcast light spread Togekiss' shadow across the entire battlefield.

Roselia looked up angerly as now its ace move, solarbeam, would be even less effective now.

Lou's Starly sped towards Roselia at blazing speeds, causing the air around it to evaporate, causing an aura of white. Starly's energy propelled her faster and faster.

Roselia braced itself for impact, but Starly broke through and knocked Roselia back. Wrinkles and cuts appeared on Roselia's leaves as the super effect move left its mark.

Roselia fell back, but quickly recovered with a back-flip. It turned back towards Starly and released a wave of stun spore into the air. Starly was safely out of proximity though, so it seemed like a bad move.

Roselia then spun around releasing a wave of leaves glowing purple. The spores stuck to the purple aura as they passed and they spiraled towards Starly. It seemed like everywhere Starly went, the magical spore induced leaves followed.

Swiftly but carefully, Nia lowered me to the ground, doing her best to avoid the poison-infected areas and patches of grass and ground. Slowly, I "jumped" off the Starly, barely missing the poison. As soon as I regained my balance, I breathed a sigh of relief. It was not all done yet, though.

I smiled gratefully as Ranger Jesse stayed up in the air. It was not as though I did not want him down here--I wanted him to stay up there, on his Togekiss, because his Pokemon's great wings covered most of the rays of sunshine.
Thus, the Roselia would not be able to charge any more of its ace attack, Solar Beam, and that was one very convenient thing. Even if it did charge up, it would be even less effective thanks to that dim overcast.

I had not noticed Nia charging up for an even speedier and more powerful version of Quick Attack. The next instant, she had sped towards the Roselia at s blazing speed, causing an aura of slightly transparent white to surround her. The white energy propelled her faster and faster.

Before I knew it, she had broken through the grass type's "bracing shield". The impact pushed the Roselia back. Cuts and wrinkles, most probably from Nia's wings and the white power, appeared all around its body--especially on its leaves--as the very effective move left its mark.

Roselia fell back from the impact, but quickly recovered with a back-flip. It turned back towards my Starly, and its hands and arms soon realeased a wave of orange-colored powder. Fortunately, Nia had already started flying back towards me, so it was safely out of proximity. Stun Spore seemed like a bad move as of the moment, but it could, very well, be a frustrating move as Stun Spore could paralyze the target.

Seeing that the powder had not worked nor had it actually "hit" the Starly, the Roselia began to spin around, twirling in a circular motion. Then, it released a blast of purple-glowing leaves that had a dark shade of coloration. The paralyzing orange spores began to stick all over the "magical" leaves and their violet aura as they spiraled--looking a little like a moving wall--their way towards Nia.

I saw Nia beginning to fly away from the orange spore induced purple leaves. But everywhere she went, the leaves followed. I gulped, realizing this was the move Magical Leaf. They would follow the opponent wherever and whenever the target would go. What was worse, those leaves had some traces of Stun Spore powder--meaning if those leaves hit my Starly, she might get paralyzed as well.

I shook my head, this was not going as planned at all. Nia could try and try to run and dodge, but would it work? Well, I figured we just had to try it out... Though there was little chance anything could work.

"Nia, those leaves won't give up the chase... Use Aerial Ace to run away from the leaves, quickly! If that won't work, try using Whirlwind to blow them away. And if that still does not work, try to use Quick Attack and Wing Attack to dodge and eliminate those "Magical" leaves!"

My command was long, yes, but I hoped Nia would understand. She just had to try. Besides, she had some instinct in her, so she could probably think on her own if she could not understand me. I turned to look back at the battlefield, crossing my fingers behind my back as Nia juast avoided a hint of poison.

    Roselia BP#1

"I seem to come here on time," Alpha said to himself, reaching a part in the gardens as he saw a trainer battling a Roselia. "The ranger who escorted this one must've had to leave early. Oh well, at least I'm right here now. I'll watch within a distance for now and appear to him after the battle." Alpha scratched his chin as he watched the trainer battle the Roselia, whose Pokemon was currently being chased by razor leaves that followed it wherever it went.

"Nia, those leaves won't give up the chase... Use Aerial Ace to run away from the leaves, quickly! If that won't work, try using Whirlwind to blow them away. And if that still does not work, try to use Quick Attack and Wing Attack to dodge and eliminate those "Magical" leaves!" the trainer commanded.

The Starly above his head chirped its name out loud and tried to execute the commands with agility. Looking back at the leaves, it aimed carefully at each leaf that stalked it. Tilting its body to the right, it quickly maneuvered its body and turned around to face the leaves. White streaks of light suddenly surrounded Starly as it striked the leaves in front of it--a few were finally torn to pieces.

The leaves that avoided Starly's Aerial Ace turned as well and continued to follow it. Turning its body again, it flapped its wings hard enough to create a strong gust that could send the Magical Leaves flying to the ground or to the sky.

"Wow, he's good," Alpha whispered to himself.

While Starly was busy dealing itself with the stalking leaves, Roselia's flower-like hands were tucked together in front of it until a shining white light slowly formed. When it was big enough, Roselia sent it directly towards the skies. Immediately the place was lighted brightly, the sun turned extremely hot and made Roselia comfortable with the current situation.

"That Starly would need to pay attention to its enemy instead of the natural things that stalks it," Alpha said.

Starly's back was currently facing Roselia. Seconds later, Roselia's eyes turned white and a rainbow colored beam was shot towards Starly. It damaged Starly and sent it landing towards the scorching earth of the gardens.

OOC: Umm... My character is a girl.
    IC:
Well, the moves worked, eliminating the leaves, but poor Nia was damaged in the process. The scene just kept on playing on, again and again in my head...

She gave a loud, acknowledging chirp, executing the commands with agility. Aiming carefully at each of the Magical Leaves, Nia tilted her body to the right quickly, making an invisible path in which she could avoid, and, perhaps, destroy the stalking leaves. She quickly maneuvered her way past the group of leaves as a white light of energy enveloped her in the process. She managed to eliminate a few of the leaves, tearing them to bits and pieces.

Those that still flew; those that the Aerial Ace had missed, swiftly changed the direction of their flying--err, I mean, stalking. They charged back at Nia, the purple and green glow ever remaining on them. I was about to shout out another command, but held back, seeing as my Starly had turned to face the leaves once more.

The next instant, her wings were spread out--fully--then, they began to flap forcefully. She kept on doing this, causing gusts of wind to shoot out. The wind could be seen, as they left her wingtips, as slashes of air... Moving in every direction... The strong gust had sent the Magical Leaves flying to the sky--gone with the wind.

I turned to look at the enemy Pokemon as Starly had been taking care of the stalking leaves. Roselia's flower-like hands seemed to be tucked together in front of it until a shining white light slowly formed into an orb. When the sphere was big enough, the Thorn Pokemon sent it directly towards the skies. Immediately the place was lighted brightly, the sun giving off extremely hot and bright rays, making Roselia comfortable with the current situation.

Wait... The wild creature had shot the orb into the sky, right? How could the Sunny Day work if Ranger Jesse was still up there with his Togekiss? Then I realized the darkness was gone since, like, five or ten minutes ago. My head shot up to the sky, my hands serving as a small shade to my eyes. There was no Togekiss or ranger to be seen... Just the bright, hot sky. Great, and I was just about to ask for a Pokedoll, seeing as I did not have any Superballs or Hyperballs to use to catch the Pokemon.

I sighed, my first run in the park, and my ranger suddenly vanishes. I looked back down, watching the battle rage on. I was just in time to see Roselia's eyes turning white as a rainbow-colored beam was shot out. It was as if the eyes had turned into a transparent prism, forcing out all the colors into one big streak. I could barely watch the path since the beam was traveling at the speed of light towards Starly. I had no time to tell her to dodge, thus the Extrasensory attack had hit directly, dealing a good load of damage.

I looked around, I could not battle this wild Roselia any longer. Luckily, I saw someone a short distance away from me. "Hey, um, you over there! Do you, by any chance, have a Pokedoll? My ranger just left so I could not buy one from him..." I called out to the human, hoping he or she had a doll for me to use.

Alpha heard that the trainer was calling out to him. He quickly approached him, amazed that he was even spotted in the first place. "Yeah, I heard you." He searched through his back to get a PokeDoll he prepared in case trainers like her would need it in dire situations. The Roselia quickly followed the doll that Alpha threw and went somewhere far from Louise and Alpha.

They just started talking with one another, not even getting far from where they were standing in the first place. "Nee," the voice cried out to them.

    "Cute, a Cottonee," Alpha noted.

A small Pokemon that looked like a small tuft of cotton with two large leaves on its sides bounced its way to them.

"You gunna battle this one?" Alpha looked at the new trainer he's currently escorting.

"Yeah, I heard you," the man said as he approached. That was when I realized he was a ranger. He wore the same vest as Ranger Jesse, he was probably my new ranger. He quickly searched through his bag until he found a Pokedoll. Throwing it at the Roselia, the wild Pokemon followed the doll as it rolled off--and away--in the grass.

We talked a little. Ranger Alpha explained Ranger Jesse had some important matters to attend to. I did not really mind, all I wanted was to get through the Botanic Gardens. We continued chatting--without even moving away from where we already were. Then I remembered the Pokedoll. I reached into my pocket, pulling out a wad of cash. I payed the ranger five hundred Pokedollars.

Suddenly, we heard a growl. "Nee," a creature cried out as it slowly approached us. It was a white, circular Pokémon. There were white, puffy sections on the top of its head and its underside. Behind it was a green, star shaped section similar to the area where a plant would connect to its produce. It had orange, oval-shaped eyes, and furled, notched leaves on the sides of its body.

I had never seen this creature before, so I figured it was one of the newer species of Pokemon that had recently been discovered.I brought out my red-colored Pokedex, which, in turn, scanned the entity.

It piped up in its squeaky, yet audible and understandable, voice:
    Cottonee;
    The Cotton Puff Pokemon;
Cottonee go wherever the wind takes them, unless the weather is rainy. In this case, they take shelter beneath big trees. When attacked, they escape by shooting cotton, which serves as a decoy to distract the opponent.

"Quite shy I suppose..." I mumbled, watching the wild Pokemon be lifted by the airy breezes, towards us.

"You gunna battle this one?" Alpha asked me.

I shook my head. "Nah.. It's really cute, new, and all... But, not exactly what i was looking for." I turned to walk away, eager to find other creatures in this zone. I crossed my fingers as well, hoping it would leave me alone.

OOC: Here's the cash for the Pokedoll of Roselia.
    $12300 - $500 = $11800

Louise was very amazed when she saw the Cottonee appeared right in front of her. Quickly, she nabbed her Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon. While it was talking stuff in its squeaky, digital voice, Alpha was carefully looking around in search for Pokemon as she was busy scanning the Cottonee.

"Cacnea!" A green small cactus Pokemon jumped out of the blue and approached the two.

"Wow, talk about excited." Alpha looked at Louise, who was still scanning the Cottonee.

Fortunately, the Cottonee did not really want to battle me either. It probably just got carried away by the wind, seeing as it was lightweight.

While we walked, I could see, out of the corner of my eye, Ranger Alpha scanning the area just as Ranger Jesse had. I figured they were trained to do this as part of their ranger job. I knew most grass types had a green shade of color, so it probably was quite hard to spot wild creatures, considering the very green and healthy grass.

I watched my ranger squint at the tall grass at the far edge of the gardens, as well as the occasional bushes here and there. He suddenly pointed to a bush with his right hand, gesturing over to me with his left hand.

"Cacnea!" a small, green, cactus-like creature jumped out at us. It was a round, green Pokémon with a dark-green rhombus shape above their face, and three dark-green rhombus shapes below their face. These shapes rung around its waist, while a green rhombus shape on its back. The Pokemon had dark circles around their eyes, its mouth apparently composed of several similar circles with thin striations below it. It had two darker-green spikes on the sides of its face, along with a yellow flower bud on top of its head. It also had two club-like arms that are dotted with darker-green spikes with cactus-esque striations along their length and two stubby, darker-green-colored, cone-shaped feet. The Pokemon was a Cacnea.

"Wow, talk about excited." Alpha exclaimed, watching the wild creature. I nodded in agreement. It was a jolly little chap. Unfortunately, I wasn't looking for something like this either.

"Er.. I hate to sound very picky, but I'll pass on this one as well."

    Cacnea BP#1

"Er.. I hate to sound very picky, but I'll pass on this one as well." Louise was about to leave her post when suddenly, her Starly sprang into action by spreading its wings out wide to protect Louise. Cacnea pointed its arms towards Nia, a soft wind circled around its circular arms and its spiky tips glowed brightly. Like very-fast missiles, it was launched directly towards Starly, who embraced the attack head on.

"That's a Pin Missile attack, please be on your guard next time, Louise," Alpha advised Louise.

Cacnea took a few steps forward closer to Nia and Louise, the spiky tips on its arms formed again. This time, it stretched its arms out wide and spun around in a gentle manner. Soft cotton balls came out from its circular holes in its faces, directed towards Nia.

"You'd better take care of this situation before Cotton Spore hits you," Alpha said.

As I had turned to walk away, I felt a surge of energy coming towards us. The next thing I knew, Nia was cringing in pain. Missiles in the color of green were shot at her... She had protected me from Cacnea's attack.

"Nia!" I screamed as she began to descend in pain. Flashbacks of our joyous times together zipped through my head...

"That's a Pin Missile attack, please be on your guard next time, Louise," Alpha advised me, but his words barely registered in my mind. I was thinking about my poor Starly.

    ***Flashback***
"Are you sure you want that hurt Starly instead of this healthy one?" the lady asked me, as if to convince me to buy--I mean, adopt--the other Starly.

"I am sure I want that one," I answered promptly--no second thoughts--pointing at the bird that had a bandage around her left wing. Even though it was injured, and still recovering, I wanted her not the other one.

When I had first seen her, there was a spark in her eyes, as if she wanted to be my Pokemon. That's when I realized she was going to be part of my team. No doubt about it, as if it was destiny the we had met.

I was at an Adoption Center, looking for a nice basic flying type for my team. I knew I wanted either a Starly or Taillow. Unfortunately, they had no Taillows today--the last one had just been adopted by a male trainer before me. Although I did like Taillows more than Starlys, I had already decided beforehand that today was the day I would get my third Pokemon, no matter what. Luckily, there were two Starlys available.

"Okay, then..." the woman finally handed me the injured Starly. From that day forward, I called her Nia. I cared for her until she was well, inserting some training and practice here and there when she was feeling better.
    ***END Flashback***

I snapped back into reality as my Starly gave another growl. I looked at the Cacnea, it had taken a few steps forward--towards us. The spiky tips on its arms were glowing again. It began to spin around and around, stretching its arms out wide. It was not spinning that rapidly, though, it was turning gently... From the circular holes in its face emerged white, soft-looking cotton balls. These orbs of cotton headed towards us quickly.

"You'd better take care of this situation before Cotton Spore hits you," Alpha said.

I nodded, giving out a command. "Nia, hang in there. I want you to use Whirlwind once more, at least to blow those cotton spores away--towards a different direction." My Starly nodded, flapping her wings as before.

"Um.. Before this gets worse, I might as well buy another doll," I told Alpha, handing him another wad of cash. I crossed my fingers, hoping the spores would be blown away.

    OOC: $18500 - $500 = $18K
