    OOC: I figured I would be okay since I didn't say the complete outcome of the move, but I'll be sure to watch out how I finish of describing a move in the future. Also, this and my next post might be rather lack luster, but I have a good idea coming if everything goes as planned. :O

    --

    Pain Split had worked. Munchlax looked much more tired now, panting. Spiritomb, on the other hand, looked strong and healthy now. Pain Split had turned the tide of the battle possibly, though it had just begun. Pain Split was a nice move to use, though, as Munchlax could respond with another fiery of attacks at any time. That was one thing normal-typed Pokemon were, unpredictable.

    But, Munchlax seemed different somehow, other than its obvious lowered health. She had done something during the time that the attack took to take full affect. Munchlax looked like she had forgotten the battle was going on, completely opposite on how it was acting the minutes before when it had unleashed the arsenal of attacks upon my green speckled purple Pokémon.

    With ideas running through my head, I paused for a moment before finally commanding another attack for Spiritomb to use on Munchlax. For the time being we would simply stall a bit to get Munchlax weaker with the use of Toxic. “Put together a Rock Tomb and Toxic attack!”

    In moments the ground began to shake a bit, Spiritomb’s spiraling eye had began to spin out of control, he was using his small amount of psychic energy he had; all ghost-typed Pokémon had been granted a small bit of psychic power. Lumps of dirt and rock were being flung up into the air. Ten, twenty, thirty large boulders of clay and dirt and rock had been brought into the air. They spun and splattered mud and dirt in the air, polluting the once fresh and clean space.

    Before Spiritomb shot the aerial bullets at Munchlax his body began to glow purple. The now sludge-like crust of Spiritomb then shot out onto the hovering rocks, coating them in a dark and thick sticky purple substance. With that Spiritomb was ready to attack. The oh-so common laughs came out of Spiritomb once again and with them the old pieces of ground shot at Munchlax, who still seemed unaware of the battle happening.

    “Put together a Rock Tomb and Toxic attack!” Junior ordered.

    I noted in passing that Junior seemed quite fond of the Toxic status affliction. Toxic stalling (that is, poisoning your opponent then holding them off until they faint) was a prominent battle style in the professional leagues, made easier by the fact that any Pokemon could learn to summon toxic sludge, a feat that seemed a bit ridiculous to me. Despite its effectiveness in battle, very few Trainers were willing to inflict status problems that caused continual damage, like Poison or Burn, because if the Trainer lost control of the battle the Pokemon they were attempting to catch could easily faint, rendering them uncapturable. Apparently Junior was secure enough in his own abilities to work with the Toxic fatigue that he was attempting to apply to the Munchlax.

    A large number of rocks and clods of dirt, ranging in size from a bookcase to a tennis ball rose up into the air, hovering slowly around Spiritomb. As they moved some of them broke up, creating an asteroid-belt-like field of stones around the Ghost-type Pokemon. It laughed again, making the trilling giggles, as it began to glow purple. The rocks did also, and when the glow faded I saw that they were dripping with mucus-like goop that was bright neon purple.

    Spiritomb laughed again, and the rocks suddenly flew towards the Munchlax in an arc. The small blue Pokemon was pawing around inside the chip packet, and it frowned before throwing the packet away. It must have been empty. It then looked up and squeaked as it saw the incoming barrage of rocks. Most of them missed, but one large one and a few of the smaller ones struck the Munchlax, and the purple ooze was splattered across its body. The Munchlax hissed, and jumped on top of a rock. It then ran down the side and hit the ground in a ball, which rolled fast towards Spiritomb. The Rollout attack hit Spiritomb's base, making the purple cloud of gase shudder. The Munchlax then curved around as its speed picked up, coming back for another attack.

    Junior would have to think of a way to stop the Rollout attack from getting too powerful - the longer it went on, the more damage it did. At least the rain has finally abated, I thought, wiping my hand across my wet forehead. I doubted the Munchlax would be able to perform any more weather-based moves, but Pokemon surprised me all the time. This wouldn't be first, or even the fiftieth.

    Munchlax took no evasion action as the goo covered rocks flew towards her. However, the weight made it hard for Spiritomb to guide them on a straight path for a direct hit on the plump Pokémon. Many of the rocks that had the ability to do massive damage had failed to make contact with Munchlax but enough of the entourage of rocks and stones slapped Munchlax around to get the job done: intoxicating Munchlax, any damage done by Rock Tomb was just a nice extra addition. Now a slight slice of Munchlax’s energy would be sapped away every moment, building up with time. Not only that but the status would make capturing Munchlax that much more probable.

    Although the attack which I planned had done its job, I had not planned on Munchlax retaliating with an attack such as Rollout. With the ground muddy from the now terminated drizzle Munchlax’s body had an easy time sliding across the ground in a straight route toward Spiritomb. Her body picked up speed as the mud created little friction and then crashed into the stone base of Spiritomb. Luckily, a beginning Rollout attack will do little damage, but with each hit it would double in power.

    Spiritomb moaned a bit from the attack, I imagined it would do more than it would from a regular … weight Pokémon. Munchlax’s weight surely added velocity and power to the smashing attack. I would not want the attack to build up power but with Spiritomb’s lack of speed the attack would be next to impossible to dodge. There was one thing that Spiritomb had access to that would stop the Rollout attack in its track along with Munchlax: Hypnosis. Normally it would be illegal to inflict a Pokémon with two statuses, but when capturing a Pokémon anything was allowed.

    “Spiritomb, we have to stop that Rollout attack. But, there is only one way that you can do that. Try and hit Munchlax with a Hypnosis attack to lull it into a nice nap.”

    Hypnosis was not the most reliable attack, however; taking a risk right now was something that just had to be done. Hypnosis would also allow Spiritomb to use its only other healing move which also damaged Munchlax, Dream Eater. After that hopefully it would be ripe for picking.

    To perform Hypnosis Spiritomb had to rearrange the green orbs that spun around his body as well as his mouth and eyes. His zigzag mouth became vertical, with many of the greens orbs latching onto it, his spiraling eye floated to the bottom of the now vertical mouth and was seemingly glued on with another green orb. The newly formed pendulum began to tick back and forth. It gained speed with each movement, floating left and right and left and right. The voices of Spiritomb grew deep and made a ringing noise each time the still spinning and spiraling eye hit the middle of the purple gas that encased this hypnotizing item.

    Only time would tell if Munchlax would fall into a deep sleep.

    Spiritomb continued to moan as the Munchlax turned around in a wide circle, being careful not to slip and wipe out on the mud. The first Rollout attack was very weak, but I'd forgotten that Spiritomb was a very light Pokemon, only consisting of gases and souls, excluding the base stone. The Rollout had probably hurt a bit more than I had expected.

    “Spiritomb, we have to stop that Rollout attack. But, there is only one way that you can do that. Try and hit Munchlax with a Hypnosis attack to lull it into a nice nap," Junior called out.

    Spiritomb chuckled and the purple gases that made up its head began to swirl and rotate as it rearranged its face. Its mouth became a vertical line and the randomly located green orbs moved closer to the line. Its swirly eye moved to the bottom, and this improvised pendulum began to swing from side to side. The eye began to rotate, creating a whirling that I knew not to look at, lest I fall asleep. Spiritomb's laughs became deeper in tone and somehow echo-ey, and they fell in time with the swinging of the pendulum.

    Once again I was impressed with Junior's adapted battle techniques. Hypnosis was usually restricted to eye-to-eye contact, with some few exceptions - like Politoed's voice version. Perhaps that had been the inspiration for this version, I didn't know. Junior seemed too professional to not have a Politoed hidden away somewhere.

    Despite the great idea, Spiritomb wasn't Politoed, and the technique wasn't going to work as well as when the Water-type used it. The Munchlax finished turning and smashed into the Spiritomb again before beginning to turn the other direction, performing a figure of eight. The Spiritomb kept laughing and swinging the pendulum, but it didn't seem to affect the Munchlax, who spun in the mud quickly, causing some to stick to it. The mud hardened, and Munchlax became a literal rolling stone.

    Finally, the Hypnosis seemed to take effect. As the stone shot towards Spiritomb it began to wobble on its axis, and cracks appeared. The stone crashed into Spiritomb's base, causing it to shriek, but the rock exploded and Munchlax was propelled through the Spiritomb's purple gases, landing on the ground fast asleep.

    OOC: I hope how I wrote this doesn't seem like I had Dream Eater hit. It is kind of iffy, but I wasn't too sure on any other way to do it.

    While Spiritomb continued his attempt at hypnotizing Munchlax into a sleep Munchlax kept barreling through the muddy plain. Mud had encased Munchlax, turning her into a hardened ball of mud, spinning out of control. She made a figure eight to turn herself around so she was in a direct path to annihilate Spiritomb. However, the ball of mud that Munchlax had turned into slowed in pace. Hypnosis had begun to work.

    Before Munchlax was completely lulled to sleep, the momentum that Rollout had gained kept Munchlax rolling through Spiritomb like a bowling ball smashing through all the pins for a strike. Spiritomb had been hit hard however Munchlax was now fast sleep, no longer encased in her mud-cocoon.

    “Dream Eater,” I told my Pokémon. This was Spiritomb’s other healing move; after the thrashing that Spiritomb had just been part of he would need all the health he could get. But, not only did Dream Eater heal Spiritomb it would sap away health from Munchlax by sorting through her happy dreams and turning them into complete nightmares.

    For Dream Eater to work Spiritomb had to get inside of Munchlax’s head and find out what she was dreaming. After that he would need to infiltrate the dreams and destroy them peace by peace, absorbing all the nightmares and terrible thoughts that Munchlax would have when every happy thought was ripped away from it.

    Both of Spiritomb’s eyes closed, his mind only focusing on Munchlax. To use Dream Eater Spiritomb would need to get into her head and flip through the pages of dreams Munchlax was having. Spiritomb then began to hum; maybe he had finally begun to infiltrate Munchlax’s deepest thoughts.

    Now the hard part would come into play. He had to shatter all of the things Munchlax was enjoying. Only one other time had I seen a Pokémon use Dream Eater, it took time to correctly perform, something that was of the essence right now. But after Spiritomb was able to use Pain Split there wasn’t much I thought he couldn’t do.

    ~

    Munchlax slowly ploughed through the field. Rather than grass sprouting from the ground though there was candy canes. Red and white covered the ground, from a distance it would look like a murder scene, a murder of millions. All the colors blended together and created a scary look almost. But Munchlax didn’t seem to mind them, she just kept breaking through all of the canes, crackles and snaps could be heard from miles away. The red dye smeared off onto Munchlax’s cream-colored belly.

    Munchlax had her eye on the prize it seemed, miles away it looked, there was a throne. What was on that throne was not visible from such a far distance. The length that Munchlax would have to travel seemed like something she was not possible of. But if Munchlax had enough motivation to find out what was on that throne she would do it. It was likely food stacked upon food stacked upon food. Surprisingly enough the candy canes weren’t enough to slow down Munchlax, physically or emotionally.

    Munchlax’s mouth was wide open, craving food likely. Why didn’t she just stop and chow down on some of the candy that was growing from the ground? It seemed like she knew what she was going to find at the end of her trek.

    The candy canes grew smaller and smaller the closer she got to the giant throne which now sparkled in the sunny field made of candy. The candy canes were eventually no more, now the ground was made of solid cubes of sugar. Munchlax had found her way into a new territory. She stopped and her nose picked up the scent of something; something wasn’t right.

    Before Munchlax could fully assess the situation three bears walked up to her. However, they were not regular Teddiursa, they were rather translucent and one solid color. The middle one, seemingly the leader of the pack was red, while the left was blue and right was green. All three of them looked unhappy, though it was hard to tell any facial expressions due to what they were made of.

    “Why do you come here?” the red one demanded in a deep voice, which didn’t fit its appearance at all. Munchlax’s face grew a big smile, almost bursting out laughing.

    “I just want to get to the top of the hill. To that big bright thing up there,” she told them, still trying to hold in her laughter.

    The green one stepped up, “Then you will have to get through us.” All of them then crackled into laughter. Munchlax no longer felt the need to laugh; she didn’t like being made fun of. It was now time to get serious.

    “I think we can take care of that,” she replied in the most sincere voice possible. She charged at the blue one before any of them could get ready to fight.

    When she was only a meter away she dove into the air, mouth open, and bit onto the head of the gummy bear. As she landed the head ripped off, a faint voice could be heard from inside of Munchlax’s mouth. She had successful decapitated the bear. Munchlax licked her lips clean, getting all of the flavor she possibly could. She picked up the rest of the blue bear and it was gone in a matter of seconds.

    She stepped back, eyeing the other two now delicious looking bears, “Do you want to be part of my snack too?”

    The remaining two bears shook their hands and scatted off into the distance of complete sugary whiteness. The throne now looked closer than it had before the guarding bears had appeared; Munchlax’s face grew a smile that looked like it would hurt to form.

    But before any happy times the ground shook, surprisingly the sugar didn’t fall down upon itself. Whoever created the sugary field had some good landscaping skills. As the ground continued to shake a roar was heard from the candy cane field. Munchlax turned around; trying to see what was going on. As she turned around a big yellow blob could be seen breaking through the rest of the candy canes that Munchlax hadn’t when she was happily charging through the field.

    This gummy Ursaring didn’t look as weak and frail at the Teddiursa had. Munchlax took the opportunity to run the hell out of there. She picked up speed, trying to find a place to hide. Ursaring wasn’t something to mess with, even though it was made out of colored jiggling sugar. It was mad too, making matters even worse.

    Munchlax had no choice but to find something to hide behind or in. The land looked flat for miles and miles, but it was almost impossible to tell. If there was anything that wasn’t flat it looked flat from a distance because everything was made out of pure white and everything was blended together, looking like one thing.

    Making a sharp right, she hoped she would either lose the trailing angered bear or find something to help her hide. While the former didn’t happen, she did find something to hide herself in. Well, it found her. As she continued to make her full on waddle through the maze like sugar kingdom she slammed into a giant pile of sugar, her body slide right into it; it was hollow on the inside, like an igloo.

    “Well. Ain’t I lucky,” she whispered to herself, hoping Ursaring wouldn’t hear. Although she had no idea if it was still chasing her.

    She waited in the sugar igloo for an hour or so before she finally made her move. She didn’t want to get all this way then not get her prize she had so rightfully earned at this point. Everything had been so quiet throughout the entire hour. It didn’t seem right.

    She climbed back out of the white crystal walls and poked her head out; looking around to check that nothing was around to stop her from getting to the throne of candy. Seeing nothing, she popped the rest of her body out, shook off the sugar that had clung to her body and then made her way towards the bright light that the golden throne was making.

    Munchlax had finally made it. The throne was upon her. The bright light it emitted was hard to look at, comparable to a second sun.

    Before she could claim her prize though she had to climb stairs made out of complete caramel. With each step up her foot got glued to the melting caramel, not only did the throne create the bright light but it seemed to emit an intense heat.

    Each step was a journey in itself; sweat began to drop down her face. <This better be worth it,> she thought. Drool dropped down her face from the intense cravings of what was at the top of this trek.

    The drool and salty sweat mixed, making her face look like it had been drenched in water.

    Finally she made her last step up. What she found was mesmerizing. A giant Snorlax sitting in the golden chair, made out of chocolate. Snorlax wasn’t like the living Teddiursa or Ursaring, it was there to be eaten – that was what Munchlax had planned to do anyway.

    ~

    It seemed like Spiritomb had located a dream to devour. But only time would tell if it could absorb the health from the dream and damage Munchlax enough for capture.

    OOC: Yeah, it's a little bit shifty, because by describing the dream you've taken control of the Munchlax, which is strictly against the rules. However, considering the high quality of this rp, I've decided to interpret it as Junior imagining what the Munchlax is dreaming about ;)

    ~~~~~
    "Dream Eater," Junior said simply.
    It was enough to trigger some memories of Dual's that he had shared with me. One of his first adventures back when he had been Jathan's partner was coming to the National Park. He had been but a Ralts back then, with one of the tiniest movepools on any Pokemon ever. It had been a real challenge for both him and Jathan, but they'd managed to find their way through a whole Expedition, capturing four Pokemon along the way and scaring off the angriest Beedrill ever.
    I shook my head to remove myself from the memories and to focus on the battle. Munchlax was sprawled on the ground, snoring contentedly right in front of Spiritomb. Spiritomb closed its eyes and the swirling purple gases stilled, slowing their rolling and boiling until they were barely moving at all. The laughing noises stopped, and Spiritomb began to emit a humming sound. I wasn't quite sure what to expect - Dual's Dream Eater was a drawn-out affair that took a long time to complete, so perhaps Spiritomb's was as well. I knew that for some Pokemon like Jynx, the attack was instantaneous, like any other attack, but perhaps this was because of Jynx's appreciable Special Attack and its Psychic typing.
    I was right. After a few seconds had passed, the Munchlax stopped snoring and began to shiver a little bit. A dark blue orb leeched out of Munchlax's body, near its hip, and floated up into the air towards Spiritomb. The orb became purple as it got closer, and it was absorbed into the slowly moving masses of Spiritomb's fog. Another orb rose up, this time from the Munchlax's right foot, and then another from its forehead. Blue orbs slowly phased out of its body and up to the Spiritomb, healing the Ghost-type even as Munchlax began to pant exhaustedly. The move was successfully healing Spiritomb, but it was more of a continual effect than a one-shot attack - closer to Leech Seed than Mega Drain. Hopefully Junior could adapt to this. Maybe it was even what he was hoping for.
    The sun still shone brightly upon the melting stairs and milk chocolate Pokémon statue. Munchlax stared intently at the delicious prize she had so rightfully earned after he endeavors through the treacherous candy land.
    Suddenly, out of no where, the shining rays that were being thrown upon the world by the sun came to a halt. It was no longer bright and warm, but dark and cold. The drips from the melting caramel stairs dried quickly, like blood drying on a dead body. Munchlax turned around, looking worried, she had come all this way for something amazing and now the moment was being destroyed by a storm.
    It had been her dream; something didn’t seem right. She no longer had the ability to change things how she wanted them to be: edible enemies, piles of sugar to hide in.
    Rain began to drop from the angry sky. Thunder crackled throughout the black clouds.
    A happy story turned into a horror movie.
    Tears replaced the drool and sweat on Munchlax’s face. Her happy grin turned into a frightened frown.
    As Munchlax turned back around she stumbled back at the site she found, and it was not Snorlax. Stumbling back, her foot fell down the top stair. The momentum that was created by the weight of her body made he tumble down the set of stairs into the dark abyss below.
    ~
    I stumbled back myself from the cry inside my head from Munchlax’s scream as she fell down the stairs. I had dozed off in the time Spiritomb took to finally use Dream Eater. Luckily when I awoke he was in the middle of successfully removing health from Munchlax and transferring it to himself.
    Over where Munchlax was laying down sleeping I could hear small cries for help as she shivered in fear of whatever Spiritomb had been doing to her dreams. Likely whatever Spiritomb was doing to her was worse than what I had imagined; my mind wasn’t one to imagine incredibly wicked things. Ghost Pokémon, on the other hand, had no problem messing with someone; it’s almost as if that’s what they were created to do.
    Dark colored orbs floated through the air from Munchlax over to Spiritomb. It was the energy of Munchlax being transported into Spiritomb’s body. The attack took time and if Munchlax had woken up during it the entire attack would have had to have been called off as there is no way to eat up a dream if there is no dream.
    I could tell Munchlax was weak after getting that much health zapped out of her. However I didn’t feel comfortable trying to capture it at this point even thought she was both asleep and poisoned. At the same time I didn’t want to hit her with another attack, Spiritomb had attacks that could just take a little nick out of Spiritomb but I didn’t feel comfortable slapping any more health out of her.
    Although if she woke up I would have a problem, a sleeping Pokémon is ridiculously easier to capture than one that was awake. I had an idea; Spiritomb had one more status that he could inflict upon Munchlax in the case that she woke up from her little mid-battle nap.
    It was an attack that Spiritomb had been taught while hanging out with some of my fire-typed Pokémon, namely Infernape and Blaziken. Both of them enjoyed a good spar every once and a while and they always had to have someone watch so they knew who really won; both of them would say they had been the better fighter every single time.
    -
    Spiritomb was never a Pokémon to want to fight or even having a fighting spirit. So the day the two fire fighters asked him to referee, or rather pretend to watch, their sparring Spiritomb became more interested in the whole battle scene. He wanted them to teach him some tricks, though he had no types in common with Infernape or Blaziken.
    Infernape and Blaziken thought for days on something they could teach Spiritomb, separately of course, they turned everything into a competition. Each day would turn into Infernape and Blaziken bickering with each other while Spiritomb sat quietly watching them.
    A few days later one of my other Pokémon took this project into his own hands: Gengar. He had learned one move that Spiritomb hadn’t yet, Will-o-Wisp. Though it was a fire-type attack, many ghost Pokémon learned it, though no one was sure why.
    Gengar told Spiritomb to find that fiery deep down in him, that anger that was built up over days and weeks and months, and just let it out in a burst of energy. Without the fire type behind them ghosts had to use this to get their bodies to produce flames. After weeks of training from Gengar, who had mastered the move, Spiritomb was able to spit on small sparks.
    Months later Spiritomb was spitting flames, lighting bushes on fire, eventually he had used it on Gengar accidently. That led to me rushing him to a Poke center before it got bad.
    From that day on Gengar and Spiritomb have had their own little competitions, much like Blaziken and Infernape. Pokémon will be Pokémon.
    -
    “Spiritomb, if Munchlax wakes up try to Will-o-Wisp it, otherwise don’t try anything. We will just let the poison drops her health down.”
    Spiritomb seemed to understand, he didn’t make any moves. We just stood and waited to see if Munchlax would wake up.
    I watched the Spiritomb suck the Munchlax's energy out through its nightmares, and shuddered. I'd hate for that to happen to me. Pokemon attacks usually didn't have their full effect when used on humans - thus why guns and other weaponry are still prevalent - but the stronger Pokemon would have little problem feasting on a human's vitality while they're sleeping. I'd heard of Darkrai and Gengar doing it in the larger cities sometimes, except usually only the Gengar were blamed because Darkrai were damn near impossible to catch.
    Junior made a sudden jerking motion, and I cast a quick look at him. Maybe he was impatient or a little bit tired, I didn't know. It sure wasn't particularly entertaining watching the Spiritomb feast, but there wasn't really much else we could do.
    “Spiritomb, if Munchlax wakes up try to Will-o-Wisp it, otherwise don’t try anything. We will just let the poison drops her health down.” Junior said.
    The Munchlax's frown grew more pronounced and it started muttering in its sleep as it tossed and turned. Sweat began to roll down its fur and it reached out with its stubby little arms, as if to grasp something to fight off the nightmare. It was also panting quite heavily - it wouldn't be long now before the small blue Pokemon would be out of energy and therefore uncapturable.
    Sweat rolled down Munchlax’s face then into her fur. She still sat on the muddy ground, which was now drying up, being frightened through her dreams. The dark orbs still were floating through the air. Spiritomb had not needed to use Will-o-Wisp as Munchlax had not woken.
    The only change was how Munchlax looked. She looked incredibly weak now; Dream Eater had drained even more health from her along with Toxic hurting her. This was my last chance to try and catch Munchlax before she went down for the count; when a Pokemon faints in the National Park you are no longer able to try and capture it.
    I dug through my bag once again, as I had for the Super ball, and took out a standard issue Park Ball. I had come extremely unprepared and only brought two Superballs. There was no reason to waste a Super ball on Munchlax.
    “Here we go,” I whispered under my breath, remembering the Breloom capture. When I had battled Breloom the ball rolled left and right for what seemed like forever before it finally stopped and made the heart calming ‘click’.
    I had the Park Ball grasped tightly in my hand before I tossed it up into the air, hoping it would absorb Munchlax and click for me.
    "Here we go," Junior breathed quietly as he pulled out a Park Ball. He pressed the button in the centre of the device, and the sphere expanded to easily four times its storage size. He tossed it underarm up into the air, and it arced over Spiritomb, landing on the Munchlax's bulbous belly. It bounced back into the air off the Munchlax's stomach and snapped open, revealing the lines of mirrors and lights that kept the Pokemon stored in its plasma form. The Munchlax started to glow bright white, and when I couldn't make out anything but the piercing brightness it reshaped itself into a sphere and swirled up into the Park Ball, which snapped shut.
    The Park Ball fell to the damp ground and wiggled from side to side as the Munchlax fought with the device. Even though it was weakened and posioned, there was no doubt in my mind that it was awake, and it was a strong Pokemon that wouldn't give up without a fight. Despite this, the button flashed red as the capture mechanism locked down. The Munchlax hadn't been able to escape in time.
    "Congratulations Junior, you just caught the Munchlax," I said to him as I walked over to pick up the ball. I got sick and tired of saying the same thing over and over again, but there wasn't much else to say. I suppose I could congratulate him a good battle, and it had been, except Spiritomb creeped me waaaaay out so I wasn't going to do that.
    After stowing the ball away inside my pack's side pocket, I looked up at the sky. It was about mid-day, and Junior was here for a full one, so we still had about half an Expedition left. He could still go anywhere he wanted to, except perhaps the greenhouses because they were on the other side of the forest plot. I walked over to a vending machine and knocked it Fonz style, causing a large packet of chips to fall out. I picked it up and opened it, offering some to Junior.
    The ball took in Munchlax then time slowed as it shook left and right multiple times. I had felt confident in trying to capture her at the right time, but with Pokémon you never know; they are mysterious little creatures.
    After what seemed like another century, the ball stopped and clicked. Ranger James walked over and picked up the ball. “Congratulations Junior, you just caught the Munchlax,” he told me in an unenthusiastic tone. That battle was not the most exciting but what can a guy do? As much as I craved that Munchlax I couldn’t have it right now, Mr. Ranger put it away in his bag.
    Spiritomb needed to take a break now, so I grabbed his Poke ball from my waist and clicked the button on it to tell the ball to absorb Spiritomb back into his spherical home.
    Before we left the area Chainy made the vending machine we had initially stopped for into his own punching (or kicking) bag forcing a bag of chips down and out of it. He popped open the chip bag, the aurora luring my nose in for a smell. As wonderful as it smelled I wasn’t one for potato chips.
    I waved my hand no, “Nah, I would like to finish this in time to get home for some of my Swampert’s delicious dinner.”
    “Nah, I would like to finish this in time to get home for some of my Swampert’s delicious dinner," Junior politely declined as he returned his Spiritomb to its PokeBall. I couldn't say I felt sorry to see it go - most Ghost types creeped me out. It had taken me ages to get used to Specialle, and she was just about as sweet and friendly as Ghost-types got.
    I raised an eyebrow, not quite sure if Junior was being serious or joking around. If his Swampert did indeed cook dinner, I was both astonished and jealous. My eyes flicked down to where my Swampert, Smash, lay inside his PokeBall on my belt - if he could cook dinner I'd never need to buy overpriced canteen food again.
    Junior didn't seem to care about where we went, so I shrugged and decided to take the lead. There was nothing of interest here in the picnic area, so I led him south, towards the flowerbeds. There were usually fairly rare Pokemon there, and I wanted Junior to go home happy with his captures so he'd come back again someday.
    Just before we left the picnic area to turn onto the path, I heard a gentle sound coming from the bushes to our left. I looked down, and a large Delcatty emerged from the bushes, purring quietly. It rubbed up against Junior's leg affectionately and I smiled.
    "Want to try to capture it?" I asked. I could take a good guess at his answer.
    Chainy looked at me oddly after I told him that Swampert cooked dinner for me. This was an understandable response; I wouldn’t expect a Swampert of all Pokémon to cook dinner either. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure how he had learned to cook, but he did and made some delicious food. I laughed quietly to myself as he had seemed to stop a bit pondering the idea of Swampert making me a meal.
    We walked out of the picnic place, my ranger taking the lead, onto a path that led into a huge open space with flowers every which way. But before we could even make it out of the area another cute little kitty came walking up to us, purring and rubbing on me yet again.
    James asked me the usual question, "Want to try to capture it?"
    I shook my head no and dug out some money if I needed to use another doll.
    OOC: You didn't.
    Just like I predicted, Junior had no interest in catching the cat Pokemon. I squatted down in front of it and scratched it under the chin. It closed its eyes happily, enjoying the attention.
    "Run along now," I said to it. "Stay out from underneath the bigger Pokemons' feet."
    The cat meowed, and walked sinuously across the path and into the bushes. They rustled for a couple seconds and then became still. I jerked my head in the direction of the path and we left the picnic area, turning left to head to the flower gardens.
    Just like most paths in the Botanical Gardens, this one was made up of small pebbles and stones that made pleasing crunching sounds as you walked on it. This path wasn't hemmed in by plants or trees, though - we were walking along the edge of the plains area, so to our left were rolling hills and a couple of small rivers with randomly placed trees to provide some shade for tired Pokemon. I saw a small dustcloud out in the distance that was slowly growing bigger. I realised with a sudden start that whatever was making it was travelling incredibly fast, and it was heading towards us.
    I looked at it through my lens, increasing the magnification. It took me less than a second to identify the approaching Pokemon as a Dodrio, a flightless emu-like bird with three heads. One of them was squawking angrily towards us, and the others - although not naturally bad-tempered - didn't seem to happy either. I quickly turned to face Junior.
    "There's a Dodrio headed this way," I said, "and if you don't want to battle it I suggest we start running right now."
    James squatted down and told the little Delcatty something that I couldn't hear. The small kitten made a cute little meow and made its way off back to the greenery.
    The two of us then continued our trek into the flower gardens, the path spiraled and turned and twisted with trees scattered along the sides of the pebbled path.
    An open area of grass came up on one side of the path, something that couldn't be seen was trouncing about the area. It was a three-headed bird, one of the heads looked rather pissed. James turned to me and said, "There's a Dodrio headed this way and if you don't want to battle it I suggest we start running right now."
    I wasn't too interested in the bird, "Nah. We should get out of here." I once again held out a wad of cash for a Pokedoll if needed.
    OOC: Again, keep your money.
    ~~~~~

    "Nah. We should get out of here," he said.

    "Agreed," I said nervously.

    We started running down the path as the brown dustcloud grew even larger. I knew the flower garden was about ten minutes' walk from the picnic area - we'd never make it in time before the Dodrio reached us. Thinking fast, I grabbed Junior's shoulder to get his attention, and then peeled right off the path, heading towards the large bushes. I held my arms in front of me and crashed straight through the bushes. I narrowly avoided running straight into a small river - I pushed hard with all my strength and sailed a few metres through the air, just narrowly landing on the other side. I turned around to see Junior leap through the air as well, landing next to me easily.

    I crouched low to the ground, panting to regain my breath, but the Dodrio never came for us. We must have lost it when we broke through. I took a look around - we were in some kind of tropical section, filled with vines and low-hanging trees and slowly bubbling rivers. I led Junior through the bush, hoping that we weren't too far from a path.

    A sudden squeaking distracted me, and I saw that I had narrowly avoided stepping on a Sunkern. It told me off in its high-pitched voice, bouncing up and down on the ground. I had to swallow back a laugh.

    "Interested in a Sunkern?" I asked Junior.

    “Agreed.”

    As we continued down the path to get away from the angered bird James gave me a little tap on the shoulder, I looked at him and figured he wanted me to follow him off the path. We walked through some deep bushes, luckily without thorns, and came upon a small little river. He leapt across and I followed suit.

    The new area looked more like a tropical forest than a botanical gardens, the National Park really did have it all. Vines curled around trees, rivers seemed to run throughout wildly.

    As we continued on the other side, looking for another path to follow, a squeaking noise came out from no where. We took more steps and the noise continued, James stopped before taking another step, almost squishing a cute little Sunkern. We both end in a laugh.

    "Interested in a Sunkern?"

    I responded with the usual, “No, but I have some money!” The money being for a Pokedoll of course.

    “No, but I have some money!” Junior responded in a strangely upbeat tone.

    Before I could take the cash and pass him a PokeDoll the Sunkern began to bounce away, muttering angrily to itself. Probably about clumsy humans disturbing it. I couldn't really say I blamed the poor little thing.

    I took a good look around, but couldn't see any paths. I decided the best thing to do was just walk straight - we'd come across a path eventually. Of course, I could always check where we were using the GPS function of my PDA, but I was feeling lazy and there was no real need to know exactly where we were. If we needed to get out, Dual could have us standing back at the gate inside twenty seconds.

    I picked a direction that was roughly parallel to the way we had come, and started walking. It was a bit humid in here, thanks to all the tropical plants, but I also knew there was some technology at work, keeping the conditions perfect, although I didn't know what they were. I resolved to go and ask the tech jockeys - they'd know, seeing as it was one of their jobs to keep the systems running. No doubt they'd be busy playing FPSes and trying to upskirt women at this moment, though.

    I brushed aside some branches from a low-hanging tree and stepped forward, only to realise there was no earth there. I windmilled my hands rapidly, trying to stop myself from falling into the river that was right in front of me. I managed to catch the branch, and with Junior's help I collapsed on the riverbank. As I lay panting, I rolled my head to look at the river. I noticed there was a stream of bubbles coming to the surface, and they were getting closer to us.

    "Never a dull moment," I muttered.

    When the bubbles were about three metres out from the water's edge, a large green skull-like head stuck out from the water. It had pink frills all around its neck which it shook menacingly at us. I knew what it was instantly. The Pokemon was a rare fossil Pokemon called Cradily, and they often had nasty streaks. I looked up at Junior, silently asking him whether he wanted to battle it. I knew he might not have a choice.

    Sunkern hopped away, mumbling to itself. It had seemed slightly pissed off; maybe the two of us had walked up to the wrong Sunkern. But it chose to just get away from us, probably the better choice. I don’t think a little seed would have stood much of a chance against any of the three Pokémon in my disposal.

    As it disappeared into the brush Chainy looked around, trying to find a path I assumed. But to no avail, although I don’t know what anyone could’ve seen considering the amount of plants that surrounded the area. He just decided to continue through the humid tropics and so I followed.

    Chainy pushed away branches as they appeared in our way and continued, however he continued walked into a hole. He did the little panic-I-grew-wings-I’m-going-to-try-to-fly-over-this-hole dance and regained balance with my help. He fell to the ground, aside the river.

    Bubbles popped to the surface of the water, it seemed like something was coming up for air. Something big.

    "Never a dull moment," he said out of breath.

    A dark spot appeared in the water, something emerged slowly. A green Pokémon with a giant neck, rivaling a Girafarig’s, crawled out from the deep. A rare fossil Pokémon, Cradily. I hadn’t known that they liked to take dips in the water. Chainy looked at me, asking me if I wanted to battle it.

    I held out my money once again, signaling a no.

    OOC: Alright, THIS one you gotta buy.

    Junior pulled out the wad of cash, signaling that he didn't want to battle it. I took a quick look at the Cradily - it definitely wanted to battle, and in this slippery and dangerous environment running wasn't really a good option anyway.

    I sat up and took the money from Junior, stuffing it down a side-pocket in my pants. I then pulled a PokeDoll out from the pack strapped in the curve of my lower back and I tossed it towards the Cradily. Its long green neck curved out and caught the Clefairy-shaped object, holding it tightly but not damaging it. It stared at us for a good minute before turning to the right and shuffling off out of sight. I exhaled a deep breath - usually the PokeDolls calmed Wild Pokemon down, but there were rare occasions where they did not.

    I got to my feet and dusted my hands off before dusting my backside off too. I then motioned for Junior to follow me and I cut through the bushes on our left, travelling the same way the Cradily had left. I wasn't worried about encountering it again - even if we did, it'd still be calmed down by the doll I had tossed it.

    After stumbling through the damp jungle area for a couple minutes, we emerged onto a path. I sighed in relief and led Junior onto it, travelling in what I was pretty sure was the way to the flower garden. However, there was a Pokemon laying in wait for us. A small brown and cream bunny rabbit with large ears was sitting in the middle of the path, watching us very curiously. It scratched my head in confusion - while the Gardens were where Buneary were found, they usually didn't like tropical climates. Nevertheless I shrugged, and took a step backwards, allowing Junior a free run at the Normal-typed Pokemon.
