    “Let’s take a right," Junior said.

    I was quietly glad - I had no idea what was making that crashing noise, but luckily I didn't have to find out. Junior had chosen the quiet route. Of course, that didn't mean there weren't powerful Pokemon that way - Slaking were some of the strongest Pokemon in existence, but their lazy nature meant they were usually quiet and rarely caused trouble. I'd come across an active one once, though - Meta had had to hold it off while the Trainer and I fled.

    "All right, let’s go down this path a bit then we can use the Pokeplayer," Junior said.

    I nodded, and we turned down the path. As we walked, the crashing noises became more distant. Junior had detached his Pokeplayer from his belt and was inserting a disk that was half mottled green and half shiny steel. I could guess what the disk was for without even looking at the label - a Ferroseed. Lots of trainers were wanting the Iron Thorn Pokemon - in rain, it was nearly unstoppable. It usually functioned as a physical wall, but I'd also seen it set up entry hazards like Spikes and Stealth Rocks. All the professional battlers wanted them, but they were notoriously rare on the mainland.

    Junior pressed the play button and a repetitive high-pitched screeching noise began playing. The sonic earbuds in my ears picked up on the noise and the handshake protocols from the Pokeplayer and began to discard the noise as it passed through. Now I wouldn't have to continually hear the irritating noise as we walked.

    We walked in silence for a few minutes, enjoying the day. I suddenly heard a rustling in the bushes to my left, and I looked down. A large brown-and-cream rabbit Pokemon was combing through the bushes, probably looking for something to eat. It's long ears twitched continually - no doubt it knew we were here. It was another rare Pokemon - a Lopunny. They were Normal-typed Pokemon that were known for their trickiness. They used moves like Mirror Coat and Magic Coat to negate their enemies' attacks, had access to irritating moves like Baton Pass and Entrainment, and had a formidable array of punching moves, most notably Drain Punch and Dizzy Punch. It didn't help that they were fast enough to outrun most top-tier Pokemon like Salamence and Scizor.

    "Are you interested in trying to catch that Lopunny?" I asked my Trainer.

    The PokePlayer ended its music as we slowly walked down the forest path, both relieving and disappointing. There was no Ferroseed insight but the deafening noise had finally subsided.

    Each step I became more and more anxious as to whether we would find a Ferroseed or not; the spiky Pokémon would be an excellent addition to my interesting gym back in Unova. My hands had never lost their sweaty touch from the drawling battle with Breloom, they just became more and more so every moment.

    A bush began to shake and flutter around. There was something unusual going on it, the green leaves had a mix of a creamy color in them – a Pokemon was in it. As we came walking by the bush I could finally make out that it was a Lopunny: an interesting Pokemon, but not my type.

    "Are you interested in trying to catch that Lopunny?" The ranger asked.

    I nodded my head, “Let’s get out of here. Just like with Blissey, if Lopunny wants to put up a fight I’ll take one of your cute little PokeDolls.”

    Almost forgetting my intentions, “Oh yeah… lets try the PokePlayer again after we get out of Lopunny’s way.”

    OOC: Escape roll failed, so subtract that 500.

    ~~~~~
    “Let’s get out of here. Just like with Blissey, if Lopunny wants to put up a fight I’ll take one of your cute little PokeDolls," Junior replied.
    I wasn't really surprised. Despite Lopunny being a very decent Pokemon, it was by no means a top-tier one, and so far Junior had shown every sign of being a professional Pokemon battler. We began to walk past the Lopunny, who was still rooting around inside the bush.
    “Oh yeah… lets try the PokePlayer again after we get out of Lopunny’s way,” Junior added.
    "Don't worry, it'll activate automatically until the disk runs out of juice," I replied.
    The second I finished talking, I saw the green light on the Pokeplayer flick on momentarily, and I knew the Pokeplayer had emitted another Ferroseed call. The Lopunny immediately retracted its head from the bush and looked at us curiously. It hopped over to us, obviously wondering just how us two humans could be making such a fearsome noise. It followed us for a while, sticking its head up into the air each time the Pokeplayer screeched.
    "It's not going to go away. You'll have to use a PokeDoll." I sighed.
    I pulled out another one of the small plush toys and tossed it to the Lopunny, who caught it and hopped away gleefully into forest. I then took the couple of bills from Junior and stashed them in my pocket before beginning to lead him away. However, another Pokemon appeared to be interested in the sounds being made by the Pokeplayer - a young Sentret climbed down out of a tree and stood up on its tail, getting a good long look at us. I could tell by the look on its face that it was trying to decide whether to flee or approach us.
    "I don't suppose you want to try to catch that Sentret, do you?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
    We walked away from Lopunny, hoping it wouldn't follow.
    "It's not going to go away. You'll have to use a PokeDoll." Ranger Chain said in an annoyed tone as the bunny kept hopping around us, listening to the noise that was being emitted from the PokePlayer.
    Annoyed by the energetic bunny, I pulled out a few bucks to trade for the use of a Pokedoll. Lopunny became distracted with the cute doll that resembled a smaller form of itself as the two of us snuck away.
    Before we could really seem to get anywhere another Normal-typed Pokemon climbed down a nearby tree. The little squirrel-like Pokemon starred at the two of us intently. My ranger looked at me, seeming to already know my answer, but asked anyway, "I don't suppose you want to try to catch that Sentret, do you?"
    I nodded no again. "Let's try the same thing as last time. Get out of here then use a PokeDoll if necessary." I took out a wad of cash, feeling like I would need to buy another PokeDoll, these Pokemon didn't like to let people get away from the, it seemed.
    OOC: This one worked, so keep your cash.
    ~~~~~

    "Let's try the same thing as last time. Get out of here then use a PokeDoll if necessary," Junior replied.

    The Sentret watched us curiously, waiting for us to make a move. Coincidentally, as we both took a step forward the Pokeplayer activated again, and the Sentret shot off into the bushes, not taking any chances with us.

    "Well, I guess that settles that." I laughed.

    It was a beautiful day for a walk, if a little hot, but I knew we'd be reaching the opposite edge of the forest plot soon, and there was usually a gentle breeze blowing through the plains or the flower gardens. I had a feeling we'd find some rare Pokemon in the flower gardens today, so I decided to lead Junior there as soon as we left the forest area.

    I swiveled my head around constantly, keeping an eye out for Pokemon, but there weren't any, just trees and bushes, a couple of which were swaying in the wind. I paused for a second - there wasn't any wind, how could they be doing that? I looked a little closer, and I saw that the bushes were connected by a yellow shell. It was a sleeping Grotle. I was glad that it was asleep - Grotle had a tendency to turn nasty if disturbed. Hopefully Junior either wanted to battle it, or we could get away without waking it up. I nudged Junior then pointed to the sleeping Pokemon, raising my shoulders in a silent question.

    OOC: For Doll in case I need it: $25,500 - $500 = $25,000

    Sentret made no attempt to stay and battle us, maybe it had never wanted to; it just saw us and found that we were something unique and different from its everyday routine. I wouldn’t think a Sentret would ever choose to battle a trainer unless provoked, let alone two of them.

    The hot, slightly humid, temperature of the forest slowly cooled off as we left the area. The new surroundings were a pleasant surprise; the forest had seemed to go on for ever and ever. The wind blew the tall grass and scattered trees, creating a very peaceful and happy environment.

    Chainy had seemed to notice something back in the grass. It was a Pokémon but one that had blended itself in with its surroundings, a good adaptation. But the sleeping Pokémon, Grotle, didn’t necessarily need to blend in and hide from predators, it was quite ferocious and able to defend itself when needed.

    Not wanting to wake it, Ranger Chainy nudged me in the arm and looked at me. I guess he was asking me, without speaking, if I had wanted to try and capture Grotle. I sighed and shook my head signaling I didn’t want to battle this grassy beast.

    I took out my money once again for PokeDoll, in case the Pokemon woke up and took us as enemies and tried to fight us off.

    I saw Junior shake his head, indicating that he didn't want to battle the Grotle. Again, I was not surprised - Grotle was an evolution of Turtwig, one of the possible Grass starters for official Trainers, and they were fairly easy to obtain. People came to the National Park for rare and powerful Pokemon, not ones that they could buy from any random breeder in any random town.

    We both walked quietly past the sleeping Grotle. I rolled on the soles of my feet, trying to minimize the crunching noises that the gravel path made. We both managed to avoid the sleeping Grass-type, and we increased our pace again. I was anxious to get out of the forest plot and feel some wind on my face, but I didn't say anything to Junior. He seemed to really enjoy being in the forest. As a gadget man, I preferred the indoors, and if you forced me outside I'd take a nice field with a couple trees and a river running through, thanks.

    It wasn't long before we came across our next Pokemon. We'd stopped for a quick breather on a pair of benches when I heard an inquisitive meowing at my feet. I looked down, and an adorable cream-and-purple cat was looking up at me. The purple coloration on its head made it look like it was wearing a hat, and its collar had some little bell-like objects sticking out.

    It rubbed against my leg in a friendly way before walking over to Junior to do the same. It meowed again, and jumped up onto Junior's lap, stroking his shirt with its cheek. I pulled out a small piece of PokeSnack, and it took the brown pellet daintily before eating it off of the bench.

    "Friendly little fellow," I chuckled. "Wanna battle it?"

    We creped by Grotle trying not to awake it. As we passed by our pace sped up exponentially, trying to get as far away from the Pokémon as we possibly could, the last thing I wanted to do was get in a fight with a craggy Grotle; that would not be something I would enjoy doing in any state of mind.

    Chain seemed to be anxious to get out of the forest, we were keeping our sped up pace, not quite a full on run, but maybe a brisk jog. We approached an old looking wooden bench and both of us thinking alike, took a seat on it, cooling down from our short jog.

    As we sat on the bench a Pokémon came up to us, a feline. Its head was surrounded by a purple mane of sorts; it meowed as it rubbed up against me. A small snack was thrown from my side to Delcatty, who snatched up in mid-air. After being fed it jumped up onto my lap, wanting more, and pressed up against me.

    "Friendly little fellow," Ranger Chainy chuckled. "Wanna battle it?"

    “Sorry, bud, but I don’t have time to play around!” I said laughing as Delcatty wouldn’t remove itself from my person. “Same as last few encounters,” I told James.

    ~~~~~
    “Sorry, bud, but I don’t have time to play around!” Junior laughed before turning to me. “Same as last few encounters,” he said, referencing the PokeDolls stored safely in my pack.
    "Ah, this little guy looks friendly, no need to waste your money." I smiled. I crouched in front of the cat, who was purring contentedly on Junior's lap. "We need you to hop off now," I said to it. "We've got an expedition to complete, and as much as we'd like to we can't chill with you the entire day."
    The cat looked up at me and blinked, before stretching itself into an arc and padding daintily off of Junior's lap onto the part of the bench that I had occupied until recently. It then curled up into a ball and for all intents and purposes went to sleep. Junior got up off the bench and we moved onwards down the gravel path, leaving the bench and the cat behind.
    We walked in silence for a couple of minutes, simply enjoying the day. The path got a little bit curvy, and upon turning a particularly sharp one a grin crossed my face. Just ahead was a stone arch just like the one we had passed under half an hour or so ago. We were almost out of the forest plot, and we could progress to the fields or the greenhouses or something. My pace quickened as I was eager to get out from the trees. I liked trees, but I also liked being able to see for more than thirty metres in a given direction.
    When we were a half a minutes walk from the exit something astounding happened. A large graceful Pokemon jumped out from the trees in front of us and landed carefully on the gravel. It was quadrupedal; deer-like in shape. It had boot-like hoofs which were green, and a white underbelly with a green coat on top. Finally, it's head looked kind of like a hammerhead shark's except the face was centralised like a normal animals'. It was Virizion. We'd crossed paths before - some poachers had managed to place some kind of mind control chip on it, and my Trainer, Bob Miller, had held it off while I dealt with the reprobates.
    It turned to look at us, and I hoped that it remembered me and that I had helped it - Virizion was known for its dislike of humans. Its eyes narrowed and it huffed, but it leaped off out of sight. I breathed a sigh of relief and turned to Junior.
    "It's not every day you get to see a Legendary Pokemon, especially a people-shy one like Virizion," I said to him.
    OOC: If I was supposed to try and get away from it tell me and I'll add it in, just didn't think so because you had it hop back into the forest. :2
    "Ah, this little guy looks friendly, no need to waste your money” He replied. Then he looked down at the purple cat. "We need you to hop off now," I said to it. "We've got an expedition to complete, and as much as we'd like to we can't chill with you the entire day."
    The Delcatty took a moment to stare at James, but soon enough it had hoped off of my lap and onto the now freed bench. It took a big yawn then dozed off right in front of us. Guess we aren’t going to need to repel it at all, I thought.
    We continued our trek; the trail began to curve and wind, making it seem like more a hike than stroll in the park. Ahead of us was a large stone structure, much like the one that we had passed under before the Breloom experience brought itself upon us. Ranger Chainy looked anxious to pass under the arch and get out of the forest, I just had a feeling he was no longer enjoying it. I don’t mind the forest, I live in one actually. The peace and serenity is what I like.
    James began to speed up, more and more eager to relieve himself of the slightly claustrophobic feeling of the forest. The stone arch grow bigger and bigger as we were finally approaching it, but then a majestic looking Pokémon appeared from the trees. It was much like Delcatty in shape: four legs, a unique mane, and was split into two colors. But other than that it was the complete opposite, it didn’t look happy to see us.
    But before it did anything it stared intently at Ranger Chainy, maybe remembering him from a previous run in which they had crossed paths. Before I could say anything about the encounter it leaped out of sight. I don’t have a camera to take picture anyway, I thought, stunned. “And we’re not allowed to capture them. So oh well.”
    "It's not every day you get to see a Legendary Pokémon, especially a people-shy one like Virizion.”
    I nodded, still in silence shocked from the legendary Pokémon. I continued down the path, so we could get out of the forest; I, truthfully, was also getting sick of it.
    OOC: Nah, you're fine. Also, breather post cos something cool is coming up ^^
    ~~~~~

    Junior made an off-chance remark about not being allowed to capture Legendary Pokemon, and I laughed.

    "It's not that you're not allowed to capture them, more like it's damn near impossible," I explained. "Occasionally they allow Trainers to battle them, but they usually come damn close to wiping the Trainer's entire team, and I haven't heard of anyone actually capturing one before. If you run across another Legendary, feel free to challenge it, but I'm pretty sure it'll hand you your ass despite your impressive battling skills."

    I led Junior forwards, towards the arch. We walked through it, and immediately a soft breeze assaulted my coat, shaking it out. I ruffled my hair and sighed happily - I loathed the heat, and my large overcoat hadn't done me any favours in the forest. But now, thanks to the gently brisk wind, the heat had dwindled from almost unbearable to slight annoyance. I jostled the stuff inside my coat around, letting the fresh air get to all of it.

    I spied another upright map sign, and walked over to it. We were at the east exit of the forest plot, just below the plains and above the picnic area. The flower gardens were nearby too. I waved Junior over - he might as well choose where to go. It's his expedition, after all.

    "Well, where do you feel like going?" I asked him. "The flower gardens are quite beautiful, and there are usually some pretty cool Pokemon there. Then again, the picnic area attracts some rares too, and the plains are home to all kinds of powerful Normal types. Your call."

    After Virizion had made its way out of our way we made our way under the interesting stone structure. A slight wind found its way into our path, blowing both of our hair a mess.

    Ranger Chain made is way to a map as the wind calmed itself. The air was no longer humid and stick, but refreshing and zen. Chainy stood looking at the map and then signaled me over; each direction led to a different, but similiar location. One way there was the color and playful looking flower gardens, the other way was a resting area with benches and a few patches up tall grass.

    Then he asked me which way I'd like to go. Now with the information of knowing the picnic area was home to normal-types I was a little more interested; normal-typed Pokemon get some crazy moves and can be quite exciting and unpredictable to use in battle.

    "As nice as the flowers look I'll test my luck in the picnicing area."

    "As nice as the flowers look I'll test my luck in the picnic-ing area," Junior said to me.

    "Good call," I agreed. "Besides, I'm getting hungry, and there's a few vending machines there that I can sneak some snacks out of."

    I led my Trainer down the path to the right, which led to the picnic area. Once I'd come across a Tauros here - it had been smashing up the tables for some reason. It'd be good to visit the area again because I had ordered Buzz to deal with the Tauros and fix the tables up. This would be my chance to see if he had been a good little bitch and done as I had said so. I winced as the thought crossed my mind - if Buzz knew that I had referred to him as my bitch, no good would come of it. Further, Ivy would probably just watch and laugh.

    The path to the picnic area was lined with low shrubs, and flowerbeds further out. On our right was the trees from the forest plot, but to the left was wonderful open grasslands and garden beds over which the wind blew freely. I was enjoying the sound of the wind when I heard three shrill beeps. I looked at Junior, and we both looked at the Pokeplayer on his belt. It beeped again, and the screen went blank.

    "Aww, your Pokeplayer has run out of charge," I said sadly. "It looks like you'll have to hope to run across a Ferroseed with nothing but your own luck." It was a bit sad that the disk hadn't worked. The obvious reason was because Junior had just wasted a couple grand, but there was a less obvious reason - I was famous for helping Trainers find the Pokemon they were looking for. Discs rarely failed to attract the Pokemon they were designed to around me. In fact, this was only the second disk that had not worked. I liked to think that was one of the reasons repeat visitors like Cameron or Master requested me as their Ranger.

    We entered the picnic area, which was a mostly flat area with a couple of trees and picnic tables scattered all over the place. The workers on the island used to eat lunch here, but it had long been claimed by the local wildlife, and now it was only used by Rangers and Trainers on expeditions. I saw a vending machine underneath a tree and was about to walk over to it when I heard a rustling noise. I followed my ears, walking over to a table. I peered underneath it, and I saw a small blue Pokemon ripping open a packet of chips and pouring them down its gullet. There were lots of other discarded packets laying around underneath the table - this wasn't the first bag of chips to be devoured.

    I straightened up and turned to Junior, smiling. "There's a Munchlax under that table," I said to him. "They're very rare. Wanna battle it?"

    "Good call," he agreed. "Besides, I'm getting hungry, and there are a few vending machines there that I can sneak some snacks out of,” James replied.

    After making the decision Ranger Chain took charge down the path, he had obviously been down this path before. It seemed like his mind was bringing up and old memory as we entered the picnic area. At the same time my PokePlayer made another irritating noise; this time signaling the Ferroseed disc I had used was now render useless. No help at all.

    "Aww, your Pokeplayer has run out of charge," He explained to me seeming disappointed. "It looks like you'll have to hope to run across a Ferroseed with nothing but your own luck." I had confidence he could help me find my Pokémon though, after all Ranger Chainy was one of the most elite.

    I nodded and then we continued into the area were all the tables had been placed. Rows and rows of them seemed to stretch miles down, though that was unlikely.

    Noticing a vending machine, and obviously hungry, James made his way over to the machine to try and fetch a snack before we would move into our next encounter. Unfortunately for his stomach, his other sense in hearing picked up a noise from the shrubs that surrounded us. The noise also caught my attention, and then I began to notice a trail of wrappers lying around and on the tables and benches. Something must be chowing down on the food in those vending machines, I thought.

    He looked to me, smiling, obviously spotting a Pokémon. "There's a Munchlax under that table," he told me. "They're very rare. Wanna battle it?"

    “Ah, now this should be interesting. Let’s do it!” This was going to be interesting.

    I had once owned a Snorlax, obtained from an old friend who no longer was a trainer. He’d chosen a different path for life, but to each his own. Snorlax hadn’t been my type of Pokémon back then, but now I think it could fit in quite nice with the rest of my pack. It was bulky enough to take a few slaps in the belly, and had enough muscle to dish out some serious damage. Not to mention it had a movement that could rival its appetite. Before I can get excited I need to engage this Munchlax.

    I grasped one of the red and white orbs from my belt; this one was filled with a hundred spirits. A ghost Pokémon that had been formed from an old curse of many souls, but it also shared its ghost-typing with the dark type; it had no weakness. To go along with its lack of weaknesses it could hold off most attacks directed at it.

    Pressing the button I tossed it up into the air. The oh-so common red light developed out of the ball and smashed into the ground, forming into a circular shape with small flare looking spikes coming out from it. When Spiritomb had gained all of its characteristics from the redness it screamed out in happiness, though it sounded more like a mummy waking from its grave … it had been a while since Spiritomb had got any combat time. Its purple gas-like body blew in the wind as our hair had been doing. The green speckles that dotted the mostly purple body slowly moved around, as if in a gelatin solution.

    I wasn’t sure if Munchlax had noticed my intentions on battling it so I took the time to get Spiritomb all powered up. Hopefully it still remembered how to battle; the last time Spiritomb had been in a real battle might have been when I was an Elite Four member. He did good work back then, practically sweeping one of the best trainers out there. It was an exhilarating experience; hopefully this engagement could meet its intensity.

    “You ready Spiritomb?”

    Spiritomb nodded his … body, responding affirmatively. “Use Calm Mind then!”

    Spiritomb’s eyes closed, his body was taking in the peaceful surrounding, absorbing its energy to use as his own. This attack would make a majority of his attacks make more of a dent in Munchlax, as the big boned cream colored Pokémon had quite the defenses, mostly from its packed stomach.

    I wasn’t sure if Munchlax had seen us, maybe it was using this time to power up as well, “All right, Spiritomb, keep an eye on Munchlax. If you think it’s trying to power up try and use Snatch,” I commanded confidently, thinking this was a clever move.

    One of Spiritomb’s eyes snapped open, this eye was different from the other, and it had a spiraled line spinning through the green pupil. Now Munchlax would have to use its sheer power to try and get through us, no sneaking extras were going to work, and if it did try to get any extra power Spiritomb would just absorb that energy. Once Spiritomb got a few stats boosted it was nothing to mess with.

    Spiritomb continued to use its Calm Mind while we waited anxiously for what Munchlax would do.

    “Ah, now this should be interesting. Let’s do it!” Junior exclaimed. He picked a PokeBall off of his belt and threw it into the air. A red light flashed, and a strange trapezodial object was revelaed, hovering in the air. Slowly, like a trapdoor was opened, purple smoke began to rise up out of it. Instead of winding away into the sky, however, the smoke stayed circular in shape. Little green flares winked into existence inside the smoke, some much brighter than others. Finally, an evil face made of green smoke emerged. It cackled happily, and a shiver ran down my spine. It was a Spiritomb, one of the scariest Pokemon in existence. Rumour had it that the Pokemon was actually created whenever one hundred and eight evil souls gathered together. In fact, come to think of it, one was probably made at our last meeting with the government representatives.

    “You ready Spiritomb? Use Calm Mind then!” Junior ordered.

    Spiritomb hovered onto the ground in front of its trainer and the circle of smoke that made up most of its body tightened and became smaller. I got the feeling that it was concentrating its power. The body then re-expanded to its original size, and the smoke wafted easier, more calmly.

    The Munchlax crawled out from underneath the table, wiping its mouth in a satisfied manner. It burped and looked up at the fearsome Ghost-typed Pokemon who was challenging it. Its expression became one of apprehension, and it took a step backwards. However, before it could run, it saw something on the ground next to the Spiritomb's base. An uneaten bag of chips. Steel entered the Munchlax's eyes. Nothing would stand between it and that packet of salty deliciousness. It clenched its fists and closed its eyes, concentrating hard on something.

    “All right, Spiritomb, keep an eye on Munchlax. If you think it’s trying to power up try and use Snatch,” Junior said.

    Spiritomb bobbed the cloud of smoke to simulate a nod, and one of its eyes closed. When the eye snapped back open, it was blue instead of green, and the spiral pupil had a line straight through it. The line spun around inside the Ghost Pokemon's eye, watching the Munchlax carefully.

    The small blue Pokemon knew was it was doing, however. It stared straight at the Spiritomb and yelled a fearsome cry before throwing its hands up towards the sky. Suddenly, thunder cracked. I looked up into the sky, and I saw the blueness begin to darken as foreboding gray clouds swirled into existence. Thunder cracked again, and drips of rain began to fall down. The outpour became heavier, turning into a full-on storm, but the Munchlax never moved. It stared at the Spiritomb, straight through the rain, ignoring the water that flowed down its pointy ears and past its eyes. It would get that packet of chips or die trying.

    OOC: Sorry this took so long. I was having a bit of writer's block. And also I called Munchlax it in this post without realizing I needed to pick a gender ... and of course I'm too lazy to edit it all out. So my next posts I'll refer to it as the gender I pick which is female. hurhur

    Munchlax climbed out from under the rusting steel bench and looked like it was becoming afraid of its new opponent, Spiritomb. Is it began to walk away back into the forest background something near the ancient ghost caught its eye. Munchlax became fixated on whatever was on the ground next to Spiritomb. I looked down and saw a bag of chips that someone had walked over and slightly smashed, but that wasn’t going to stop Munchlax from getting a tasty treat and neither was Spiritomb or Ranger Chainy or I. Munchlax wanted that bag of chips and wanted it now.

    As Spiritomb was preparing to remove and steal anything that Munchlax tried to do Munchlax began to perform a move of its own. This was not a damaging attack or an attack that Spiritomb would be able to rip away from the dark blue colored fatty. Munchlax raised its hands and began to do a funny little dance; I wasn’t really sure what it was doing. So intrigued I didn’t take the opportunity to hit Munchlax with a cheap little sneak attack while it was focused on performing its interesting but unknown move.

    Soon, though, I learned what attack Munchlax was using. Its hands still rose in the air, it let out an ear aching scream towards the three of us standing near the snack machine. Suddenly, the beautiful and peaceful blue or the sky turned into a dark and dreary navy color. The area was now covered in complete darkness; the sun had been shunned away by the clouds that were no crackling throughout the sky. Munchlax had created quite a storm with its Rain Dance. However, it wouldn’t be rain dance without actual rain; this rain was something to be afraid of. Each droplet, if you could even call them that, felt like a slap on the wrist.

    Munchlax was still focused keenly on that bag of chips. I had an idea that could involve that bag of chips that could help me thoroughly throughout this battle. This strategy would keep Munchlax was using any kind of stat boosting moves. If it were to raise its defensive stats any more I would have an incredibly hard to inflicting any sort of damage to it; Munchlax were defensive walls to begin with, I didn’t need it to get even stronger.

    “Spiritomb, use that bag of chips to Taunt Munchlax,” I told Spiritomb. It looked a bit hesitant to perform the move, but I think Spiritomb got the idea that it would work. After all, the fat and hungry Pokémon would do anything to get some more food, though it had already seemed to eat a days worth of snacks out of the vending machines that accompanied the picnic area.

    Out from Spiritomb grew a limb, one possible from one of the many souls that created it, to pick up the bag of chips and shake it around to mess with Munchlax. Munchlax would want to attack us now, hopefully, rather than powering up. Another limb came out of Spiritomb’s purple form and opened the bag of chips. The scent filled the area: these chips were nice and fresh, far from any kind of expiration. Munchlax stared at Spiritomb as the scent filled the air and went up Munchlax’s noise. I knew it could smell the salty fried slices of potato.

    Munchlax’s eyes began to dilate, maybe the scent was too much for it the handle and it was going to go on a rampage. It still stood its ground, however. I figured we had even more time to help ourselves considering Munchlax was so hypnotized and intrigued as to what was going to happen with the bag of chips.

    “Nasty Plot, Spiritomb.”

    Laughs emitted from Spiritomb, hundreds seem to fill the air. All the souls that had been absorbed into the stone that created the ghost Pokémon were thinking of ideas to make any attack to the maximum amount of damage that it possibly could. The laughs continued making the bag of chips stir around in the hand coming out from Spiritomb’s left side. A chip fell out, perhaps it was part of the plan that one of the many brains throughout Spiritomb had thought of. Maybe Munchlax would rush the sweat greasy fried slice of potato and Spiritomb could get a sneak attack in.

    Munchlax, however, did not make it move. It continued to stare at the dead chip, waiting for something to happen. We’d have to make something happen. I nodded my head and commanded Spiritomb to finally attack, “Dark Pulse!”

    Suddenly, out from under the stone plate that was placed under the shadowy figure of Spiritomb a wave of solid black came rushing out. It hurdled its way through the grass, growing in and size with each meter it crossed. The wave was making its way directly towards Munchlax. This was one of the most powerful attacks Spiritomb could muster up. Dark Pulse also had the ability to render a Pokémon useless for a time by making it not able to move, but it was nothing like being paralyzed.

    The wave soared into the sky as it approached Munchlax, making the scene even darker than the thunderstorm sky did. Then it crashed down upon Munchlax, hopefully making a direct hit.

    OOC: That's cool. I had fun writing this post - Dragonball Z is my inspiration xD

    ~~~~~
    “Spiritomb, use that bag of chips to Taunt Munchlax,” Junior said.
    The Munchlax's ears twitched, and she watched as the bag levitated into the air. It floated slowly in front of the Ghost-typed Pokemon, and began to make scrunching sounds. Munchlax's eyes began to widen in shock and fear and the scrunching got louder. Finally, there was a ripping sound, and the chip packet was opened. The Munchlax couldn't move - she was rooted to the ground in shock and disbelief. Spiritomb waved the bag tantalisingly, wafting the scent over to the Normal type. The Munchlax's nostrils twitched, and its eyes went from disbelieving to enraged in a heartbelt.
    The Munchlax yelled, but this was more than a yell. It was more than a roar. It was a primeval scream filled with power and vengeance. The Munchlax focused its eyes on the Spiritomb, staring straight at it, clenching its fists and continuing to yell. It didn't move, but the earth began to shatter beneath it, and fissures shot across the ground as the dirt beneath the Munchlax was forcefully compacted. One of the fissures rushed towards Spiritomb, and its base was sent flying, crashing into the ground several metres away. The gaseous cloud faded away, and reappeared above the base again. Spiritomb moved back to where it had been before, watching the Munchlax carefully, but the small Normal-type was still crouching perfectly still.
    "Nasty Plot, Spiritomb," Junior commanded.
    It was a good call. I wasn't entirely sure what the Munchlax was doing, especially considering the Taunt had definitely been successful. By now a normal Pokemon would be angrily charging the Spiritomb, and yet the Munchlax was just standing and roaring. I wiped the rain off my forehead as the gas began to bubble violently and I heard some creepy laughter emanating from inside the swirling purple depths. For some reason or another, the chip bag tilted, and a single chip fell out of the bag.
    For the first time since it had started yelling, the Munchlax's eyes left the Spiritomb. I could almost see it in slow motion - her pupils slowly dropped as the chip did, and they widened as the fried piece of potato became covered with mud as it hit the ground. I didn't think it possible, but the Munchlax started screaming even louder. She kicked off of the ground, almost literally flying towards Spiritomb. As she did so, a huge wave rose up behind her, following her and rising high above any of the several trees that were scattered around. This still wasn't enough for her - she held her right hand up into the sky, and I heard a thundercrack. A yellow bolt of lightning smashed down into her hand, temporarily obstructing my vision. I blinked, clearing the glare away, and my jaw dropped. The Munchlax was now rushing towards the Spiritomb with a tsunami-grade wave following her, and a bright yellow light was emanating from her hand where the lightningbolt hand struck.
    "Dark Pulse!" Junior yelled, and waves of black energy boiled out from the Spiritomb's purple gas, intercepting the Munchlax. The Dark Pulse crashed into the small blue Pokemon, and for a second I thought it'd hold the rageful Normal-type back. No such luck, though. A bright yellow light shone out of the darkness, getting steadily bright. Suddenly, the Munchlax burst out of the Dark Pulse, holding the Thunder in its hand in front of it like a torch. It leaped through the tiny hole the electricity had drilled and the water rushed after it, smashing the Dark Pulse to pieces. The Munchlax reached its Thunder-coated hand towards the Spiritomb, and the Thunder attack exploded. The Munchlax was thrown backwards into the wave, which then crashed down onto Spiritomb, washing it away. The purple gas disappeared again and the base was washed backwards, slamming into one of the picnic tables and breaking it to pieces.
    The wave slowly dissipated, and the gas once again began to billow out of the base, but slower this time, and the laughter was muted. I looked around and saw the Munchlax on knee, panting hard, still staring at the Spiritomb. However, it was holding the chip packet, which I thought must have been blasted away in the epic attack. Defiantly, it pulled one of the chips and placed it into its mouth, crunching down hard.
    The wave of complete darkness was countered with a combination of attacks by Munchlax. First came a giant roar from the small Pokémon, a noise that did not even seem possible to come from such a miniature Pokémon. Soon after the roar began, an even greater and fiercer noise came from what seemed like miles behind the tree line. Within seconds an enormous wave was crashing over the green leaves of the forest.
    As the wave approached thunder struck right in front of Munchlax, her hands began to glow and sparkle with electricity. That very second Munchlax began a full on charge towards Spiritomb and the bag of chips that Spiritomb had been taunting her with. Each step made the ground shake a tiny bit from the amount of weight and pressure being exerted onto the now muddy and wet grass field.
    The wave of black, Dark Pulse, and the tsunami like wave, Surf, came closer and closer to each other. Eventually they met: Spiritomb’s attack had began to envelope the small and hungry Pokémon, but the light of the electricity could still be seen. While the attack did damage Munchlax was in no hurry to just stop its complete onslaught. It really wanted that bag of chips.
    Munchlax threw the electricity that had been building in between its hands at Spiritomb. Spiritomb was shot back a bit, stunned long enough for the giant wave of water to splash down upon the gas ghost. The small stone base shattered as it had been slapped back against a picnic table. I thought Spiritomb had fainted from the arsenal of attacks just unleashed on him, but as quickly as the water dripped away Spiritomb gathered itself and was ready to battle.
    However, all those attacks had done quite a bit of damage do my Pokémon. Spiritomb had almost no moves to heal itself. It did have one though, but I wasn’t sure Spiritomb would be able to perform it. To use the move, Pain Split, it would have to create an equal amount of energy for both Pokémon to have. Only once before did I have to perform such a move. It was in a situation much like this one, although the previous attempt had much higher stakes.
    ---
    It was a battle back when I was an Elite Four member. Spiritomb was my last healthy Pokémon; all my others were either completely in need of healing or had some kind of status condition. My opponent, Isaiah, a fierce and competent battler, had let me set up Spiritomb to the point that I could finish off the last few of his Pokémon easily. The one problem I had was Spiritomb had very little health left.
    Spiritomb had been one of my newer Pokémon back then, only just recently acquiring him. However, the two of us worked hard to quickly master all of its moves. I had missed one, though, and it was Pain Split. In the back of my mind I had always known that Spiritomb learned it, but being the ignorant guy I was, and am, I completely left it out of the equation.
    But Pain Split was my only chance. If I did not just try to attempt it I would lose surely. I commanded the move to Spiritomb and he began to use the move. With no idea what to expect I just watched Spiritomb perform the move.
    Suddenly the opposing Gallade, a fighting Pokémon with blades reaching out of its forearms, began to glow a bright white color. The aura surrounding the enemy was much like the light that a Poke ball would emit when it was sucking a Pokémon up or releasing one. Spiritomb began to glow the pasty white color soon after.
    The white auras then lifted from the Pokémon. Each Pokémon fell over and fainted. Their life energy had been sucked out of it. Each aura of whiteness clumped itself into a ball and rose up and up, till they both almost hit the ceiling of the building.
    The two balls of bright whiteness then began to attract each other; much like two molecules would in a chemical reaction. But, unlike a chemical reaction, they were forced inside one another, creating one extremely bright ball of energy – another sun had been born. As soon as this new sun was created however, it was dispersed. Half shot back into Gallade while the other half shot back into Spiritomb.
    Spiritomb now, didn’t look so frail and hurt, but strong and health. Gallade on the other hand didn’t look too good. It had been at extremely high health and Spiritomb had almost been fainted. The tides had turned.
    Spiritomb went onto defeat the challenger and secure my victory.
    ---
    This Munchlax situation certainly was not as desire. But the more health Spiritomb can acquire the better the battle ends up.
    “Pain Split,” I told Spiritomb confident in his ability to perform the move and hopefully drain Munchlax’s health while benefitting his own.
    Low pitch grunts then came out from Spiritomb, much like the laughter, but quicker and not quite as wicked sounding. This time, his body began to glow white first. The aura of whiteness began to come up off his body before Munchlax even began to glow.
    “Shit. Shit. Shit.”
    This was not going how I wanted it to. It had been a long time since Spiritomb had been used in battle; I was hoping that it wouldn’t be a problem though. Apparently it is going to be one.
    Slowly but surely, Munchlax’s body did begin to show the change of color. The energies did exactly as I had recalled, changed into small balls, or big in Munchlax’s case, and then combined into one. After that they shot back at the Pokémon.
    Hopefully the attack had done what it was supposed to.
    OOC: Lol, ST reference. Nice. Also, be careful - you're not allowed to say whether moves work or not.
    "Pain Split," Junior commanded.
    Spiritomb began to glow bright white, and a small white orb rose out from within the purple mist that made up most of its being. The orb was about the size of a basketball, and hung above Spiritomb, trembling slightly. I had seen this move before - Dual had access to it. He had used it frequently when he was Jathan's Pokemon; it was one of the first special moves he had perfected. Unfortunately, his middling speed meant that he couldn't use it very proficiently, but it was often a better recovery tactic than Wish. Being a physical attacker, Dual leeched health by gripping his opponent and leeching their energy directly, but moves often varied between types of Pokemon, and seeing as Spiritomb was a special attacker this made much more sense than the physical style employed by my Gallade.
    Junior started swearing underneath his breath, and I realised why. The Pain Split orb that was supposed to be floating above the Munchlax's head had not emerged yet. I was just about to advise Junior to try a different move when the small blue Pokemon finally began to glow a soft white. The move must have taken longer because of Munchlax's monstrous amount of stamina or something. The white glow moved upwards, and finally the Pain Split took effect. An orb rose out of the Munchlax, but it was much larger than Spiritomb's - it was easily the size of an exercise ball, and larger even.
    The two orbs began to rotate towards each other, twirling around a point inbetween the two combatants, slowly getting closer. They finally met in the middle and combined, swirling together and fusing into two joined bubbles. The small one leeched off of the other as they spun, and when they were the exact same size the bubbles separated and returned to their respective Pokemon, becoming mist as they did so. The mist covered the two Pokemon, being absorbed into them. Spiritomb's gas bubble began wreathing a lot more actively, but the Munchlax seemed a bit more tired. It sat down on the ground, eating its bag of chips, watching the Spiritomb carefully. Something seemed a little bit different about it, but I couldn't quite determine what. I had a feeling it had something to do with the Munchlax's lack of rage, considering what it had just done to the Spiritomb, but I had other things on my mind.
