There was another new person entering the National Park for the first time and I decided that I would take her through it. I signed for the run, made the appointment to meet her at the gates, and was now gathering up all my equipment.

She wanted to head to the Botanic Gardens, a place filled with Flying, Normal, and Grass types. With such Pokemon about I could easily pick which of my Pokemon I would be taking along. I opted for my Infernape, Charizard and Rotom-Wash to accompany this trip.

While I doubted I would need to call them forth, it was a good idea to bring them along just incase something bad happened. I hooked their Pokeballs to my belt, slung on my pack, grabbed me ranger jacket, and headed out the door.

The gates leading to the Gardens were only a short distance away, so instead of teleporting or flying I decided to walk the short distance there. When I got there I saw that I was a good ten minutes early, like i usually was. I took out my iPad and loaded up the information I had on Sandy, I started to read her file as I waited for her to show up.

OOC: I'm a little new at this so please point out any mistakes I may make

I tapped my foot on the floor of the bus. I looked over to see my Scraggly, who I had nicknamed Scrag, trying to eat a Parkball. He had been sting next to me, and was always excited to go somewhere new.

"Now," I said "You can't eat that, you'll choke." I wondered how he had even gotten the ball to begin with. Then I remembered that some Scragglys were know for their knack at stealing thing. I was luck that he hadn't taken something more valuable.I looked thru my bag to make sure that everything was still in there. I stuck out my hand.

"Give it to me," I thought for a second "Please?" Scrag seemed to think on it a bit, then be plopped the ball out of his mouth and into his hand. He offered the now slimy ball to me. I reached into my bag and graved a tissue, which I used to hold the ball. I put the wet thing into my bag.

"Thanks," I said as I graved another tissue, some of the spit went thru the tissue. I wiped my hands clean, then looked out the window. In a few minuets the bus came to a stop, and I saw the gate. I got up from my set, Graved Scrag, nodded to the driver and walked down the steps onto the ground.

I looked around and saw a man standing at the gate. I walked up to him.

"I think you're the one to take me though here," I said as I put out my hand."I'm Sammy. You are?"

I heard one of the buses that ran through the park stop down the path and I knew that Sammy would be approaching shortly. I put away my device and waited for her to show up. I didn’t wait long, no more than a minute later I caught sight of a young woman who matched the description of Sammy walking up the trail, a young Scraggly at her side.

“I think you’re the one to take me through here,” she said once she go close enough. She stuck out her hand. “I’m Sammy. You are?”

I returned her handshake and responded, “The name is Gaius Tyrannius, but just call me Gaius. I will be your ranger for this expedition. I’ll be your guide and make sure you follow the rules. Don’t worry about that too much since this is your first time here, I’ll be sure to help you in anyway. Let’s get started shall we?”

I turned to the gate and pulled out my park ID. I swiped the card along the scanner and waited for my credentials to pop up. When they did I plugged in the necessary run information and Sammy’s date. This only took a few moments, and once I had done so the gates swung open to reveal the lush gardens. I ushered Sammy in and shut the gates behind us.

Soon as we entered the gates I saw out first Pokemon. It was a Pokemon that looked like a leafy human, only its arms were stems with roses at the end, and its legs spindly stems. It was a Roselia, a Poison and Grass Pokemon that evolved from Budew. I had the evolved form, Roserade. While it wasn’t a very strong Pokemon, it did have numerous uses in battle.

I looked over at Jessie and said, “That there is a Roselia. You can battle and capture it if you want, or we can try and walk away and see if it follows us.”

Gaius pointed at a small green plant that had a red and blue rose for hands.

“That there is a Roselia. You can battle and capture it if you want, or we can try and walk away and see if it follows us.”He said.

I bit my lip. The Rose wielding Pokemon looked impressive, but already had a grass type. I didn't want to spend resources on a Pokemon that didn't interest me. "

"I think I'll pass on this one," I said.

Sammy bit her lip in thought as she stared at the beautiful Pokemon. “I think I’ll pass on this one,” she said at last.

I thought it was a decent decision on her part. She only had one Superball, which meant that if she caught the Roselia and then ran into another evolved Pokemon that was better she would have to use her Hyperball. Besides, there was a chance we would run unto a Budew, the pre evolved form of Roselia.

“Of course,” I responded, I don’t think it will want to fight.”

I barely got the words out of my mouth before the Roselia turned its head to our direction and sprang forward in a threatening manner.

“Scratch that. You’ll either have to pay $500 for a Pokedoll or have to battle it,” I told Joltik.

Suddenly the Roselia turned to look at us, then jumped over towards us.

I looked at the rose like Pokemon.

"I think I'll fight it." I said as I reached into my bag. I took out two red and white balls, I called Scrag back into his, and called out a large Black, gray and white bird. Her name was star. She landed on the ground and stretched her wings while emitting a small cry. She was a Staravia. "Ok, you see that Roselia over there?" I pointed at it. "We need to knock it out, use agility then aerial ace!"

Star jumped up into the air, and started flying a few feet over the Roseelia's head. It few in circles gaining speed. In a few seconds it suddenly turned, and tried to hit the little plant.

“I think I’ll fight it,” Sammy said, after a moment of thought. She reached into her bag and pulled out two Pokedolls. She recalled her Scraggly and summoned forth her Staravia instead, a Pokemon that would have a great advantage against the Grass type Pokemon. “Ok, you see that Roselia over there?” She said to the Flying type Pokemon. “We need to knock it out, use Agility then Aerial Ace.”

The Roselia strutted forward into attack range as the white and gray bird took to the air in flight. Roselia watched it circle around, slowly gaining speed as the Staravia used Agility to boost its speed. Roselia pointed its roses at Staravia and a pink dust started to spread from it. As the dust got near to me I noticed that it was pleasant smelling. It was Sweet Scent, a move that lulled an opposing Pokemon to lower it’s guard, making it easier to hit.

Staravia’s speed lowered as the scent wafted up to it, but it steeped its wings and dive-bombed the Roselia. Staravia lashed out with beak and wings before turning away to get higher up. But before it could do so the Roselia lashed out with an attack of its own. It pointed a rose-arm at Staravia’s retreating back and sharp, pink leaves sprayed from the rose. As the leaves rose to follow Sammy’s Pokemon I knew it had used Magical Leaf, an attack that very rarely missed.

Staravia was taken by surprise from the attack, but recovered almost instantly and returned to the space by Sammy, waiting for its next command.

The Roselia aimed its arm up and shot a rainbow of leaves at Staravia as it flew upwards and back to me. She seemed rather calm, the pink dust must be making her go slower, making her easier to hit. I should counter that. It would be bad it she took every hit that was aimed at her.

"Let's try something else!" I said. "Use double team, then brave bird!" Staravia nodded as she flew towards the living rose.

Once she got within a few feet of the Roselia, she started flying around it in circles. It started to look like there were many Staravias flying around the Roselia. They all glowed a bright white, and all lunged at the Roselia.

“Let’s try something else,” Sammy said to her Pokemon. “Use Double Team, then Brave Bird!”

Her Staravia flew towards the Roselia and split into four different carbon copies of itself. There was no way to distinguish which Pokemon was the real one and not a copy based off sight alone, that was one of the reasons of why it was effective.

The Staravias flew towards the Grass type and encircled the Pokemon, slowly flying closer to the Pokemon to form a tight ring of which it couldn’t escape. The Roselia tried following the Staravias but found the task too taxing.

Instead, Roselia folded its legs beneath it, placed its arms its her lap, and closed its eyes. It almost appeared like it was meditating, but Roselia couldn’t learn any move like that. I went through Roselia’s possible moves, but couldn’t think of anything. Despite owning a Roserade, mine wasn’t that well trained.

Staravia decided that since Roselia wasn’t watching it could attack then get away. As Staravia dived towards the Grass type, its body glowing a white-yellow mix. Before it could strike, however, Roselia’s eyes snapped opened it pointed both rose limbs at a Staravia. It cried out and a purple acid stream shot from its limbs to strike one of the Staravia. I could tell by the chirp of alarm and the purple tint that the Pokemon took that Roselia had the right copy, not only damaging, but poisoning the Pokemon aswell.

Staravia fought through the pain and lashed out at Staravia, hitting it with one of the most powerful Flying type moves known, dealing a good chunk of damage to the Pokemon. Roselia cried out in pain and crumbled to the ground, clearly unconscious from the Brave Bird.

Staravia for her part suffered a large amount of damage also. Not only was it taking poison damage, but Brave Bird gave recoil damage, and because Brave Bird had done so much damage Staravia had received a lot of recoil damage. The Flying and Normal type was severely drained from the battle.

I checked on the Roselia to make sure it would be fine, then turned to Sammy. “Your Staravia was poisoned in the battle. If you want you can use your Lava Cookie to heal it, otherwise if you call it forth again it could be in trouble. The choice is up to you.”

I watched as Staravia flew at the Roselia, and the Roselia glowed. The Roselia launched a nasty looking stream of violet goop at my bird. Staravia connected with the rose like Pokemon, and knocked it out. Gaius walked over to the plant, and inspected it.

Your Staravia was poisoned in the battle. If you want you can use your Lava Cookie to heal it, otherwise if you call it forth again it could be in trouble. The choice is up to you.” He said.

"Well," I said "Crap, Star come here." The Gray and white bird hopped over to me limping a bit. I looked thru my bag, pushing Items aside as I looked for the cookie. I pulled out the orange and black cookie, and Brock it into tinny bit sides pieces. I held my hand out to the Staravia. "Eat" she did so, pecking at the cookie until it was all gone. I recalled her into her ball, and put the ball back into my bag.

"So," I said, "We keep walking now, Right?"

“Well, crap, Star, come here,” Sammy said. I waited for her to feed and heal her Pokemon. When she was done feeding the Lava Cookie to the Staravia she dusted the crumbs from her hands, recalled the Staravia, and replaced the Pokeball back into her bag.

“So,” she started, “we keep walking right now, right?”

“Yes, we do. There is a main path leading through the center of the park. So, let’s head there first, we’ll find some good Pokemon along the path.”

I located the path and started down, checking both sides for any Pokemon that might appear. We had only walked for about five minutes before I spotted a bush rustling to our left. I looked in it and spotted a small Furret digging for something.

I turned to Sammy and said,” A Furret is in that bush over there, interested in one of those?”

I fallowed Gaius as he walked down the path. He looked into a few bushes as we walked down the path. In a few minutes he stopped and pointed at a bush and spoke "A Furret is in that bush over there, interested in one of those?”

"No, not really" I said. This was easy for me. I didn't really want a normal type, and Furret didn't really catch my eye either.

“No, not really,” Sammy replied, without hesitation when she spotted the smaller Normal type.

The Furret must have agreed with her because it darted into an underground burrow a moment later. I simple shrugged and started down the path once more, hoping we would find something that Sammy would like to take out of the park.

This time the encounter came only a couple of minutes after the Furret. This Pokemon was a cousin of the Furret, same coloring with only different markings. It was a Zigzagoon.

“I don’t want a Zigzagoon, do you?” I asked Sammy.

The Furret ran into a small bush, quickly disappearing from view. I let out a small sigh of relief as Gaius shrugged. As we walked down the park. In a few minutes after we saw the Furret there was a small raccoon like Pokemon digging around in the dirt.

“I don’t want a Zigzagoon, do you?” Gaius said.

I nodded my head in agreement.

"I would like to pas on this one," I said. This was also an easy choice, Zigzagoon was if anything worst then Furret. Even if it was a little cute, it lost most of that cuteness when it evolved. In my opinion anyway.

Sammy nodded, indicating she had no compunction to battle the Zigzagoon. “I would like to pass on this one.”

I nodded my head in agreement, because if I was honest, Zigzagoon was a pretty bad Normal Pokemon all things considered. Some Pokemon just weren’t that useful in battles, I considered this Pokemon to be in that group.

Before I could lead us away from the Pokemon, however. Zigzagoon lifted its button nose to the air and began to sniff. I felt a sinking feeling in my gut, and a moment later that feeling was rewarded when the Pokemon turned to us and waddled over excitedly.

“It looks like it wants to stick around,” I said to Sammy, reaching down and petting the little Normal type. “You know the drill, either pay for a Pokedoll or prepare to battle this Pokemon.”

Gaius nodded as the Zigzagoon lifted and sniff the air It turned to face us, and walked over happily.

“It looks like it wants to stick around,” Gaius said to me as he petted the small raccoon like Pokemon. “You know the drill, either pay for a Pokedoll or prepare to battle this Pokemon.”

I looked at the Zigzagoon, as it happily got petted. It was really cute, and I didn't want to spend time fighting it.

“I’m going to buy a Pokedoll,” I told Gaius “It’s five hundred right?” I looked into my bag, and puled out the correct amount, then offered it to Gaius.

“I’m going to buy a Pokedoll,” she said. “It’s five hundred, right?” She pulled out a wad of cash and offered it to me.

I took the change and pocketed it, pulling out an Elekid Pokedoll for her. I took the doll, showed it to Zigzagoon, and threw it away from us. The Pokemon gave us one last look of longing before bounding off to chase the toy.

I pulled out my iPad and pulled up the map of the area. I saw that we were still at the front end of the park, which was fine, but some of the more rare Pokemon headed towards the back where less humans were. I located a nearby ranger outpost and decided to head there, make sure everything was okay, and take a quick rest before we continued on.

I got my headings right and set off in the direction that would lead me to it. The outpost was just over a mile and a half so I figured it would take us about twenty to thirty minutes to reach it, depending on our pace. I didn’t want either of us to get too tired so I opted for a lower pace.

We were almost there twenty minutes later when a small, barking dog, ran up to us. It was covered in long, light brown hairs. It resembled a normal dog, except for the ability to use Pokemon moves. It was in a frantic state and clearly scared of something. I stooped to calm the dog and said to Sammy, “You can catch this Pokemon if you want it.”

OOC:I did. And could the Lillipup be male?

Gaius took the money from me, and placed it into a bag. From the same bag he graved a small Elekid push. he waved it at the raccoon and tossed it, and it followed it. He then pulled a iPad and stared at it for a few seconds. He then lend me down a path for about twenty minutes. Then a small dog like Pokemon ran up to us.

“You can catch this Pokemon if you want it.” Gaius said.

"That's a Lillipup right?" I asked, "It's cute, and I think it could be useful. I'm going to try to catch it." I had heard that Lillipups could become powerful Pokemon once it evolved. I was hopping to run into one of these in the gardens. I was happy that I got to find one.

I dug around in my bag, and pulled out a red and white ball. I tossed it up into the air, and graved it when it came down. A large yellow and blue spider like Pokemon appeared on the ground. Galvantula looked around as it focused on the small puppy Pokemon.

"We're going to be catching that Lillipup," I told Galvantula "Let's slow it down. Use your Electroweb attack!"

Galvantula started spinning a ball of sting in the area between its feelers, which was holding the ball gently. After the ball was completed, Galvantula started charging the ball with electricity. In a few moments the ball was full of energy. Galvantula then jumped a few feet into the air, and let the ball go. The ball expanded as it flew thru the air, becoming a spider web shape as it grew closer to the Lillipup.

Sammy’s eyes lit up when she saw the Lillipup. “That’s a Lillipup, right? It’s cute, and I think it could be useful,” she exclaimed. “I’m going to try and catch it.”

This sort of surprised me. I figured the Pokemon had a chance of Sammy taking a liking to it, but I wasn’t expecting to get such a positive response from the young lady. She must have really wanted the Pokemon to show such enthusiasm for it.

She reached for a Pokeball and called forth one of her Pokemon, a Galvantula, a large yellow spider. “We’re going to be catching that Lillipup,” she said to the Electric Pokemon. “Let’s slow it down. Use your Electroweb attack.”

This was a move that I had only seen in action once. It was a weak powered Electric typed move and had a chance to miss to boot, but what made it an attractive move was that it lowered the speed of the Pokemon who was hit by it, which made sense because it was a sticky web with currents of electricity running through it.

Galvantula lifted two of its limbs to its mouth and spat out a glob of web, pulsing yellow from the electricity. The spider-like Pokemon quickly weaved the web into the form of a net in a manner of seconds, using its many legs to its advantage. Galvantula squatted and used its powerful legs to propel it into the air, like a jumping spider. When it was at the height of its jump it threw the web at Lillipup.

The little barked in alarm at opened its mouth to reveal a dark orb of black and purple energy, a Shadow Ball attack. The ball grew from the size of a rat to the size of a football, which it then shot at the Galvantula. Being a Ghost type attack the Shadow Ball passed through the Electroweb, and since Galvantula was in the air it couldn’t dodge, making it an easier target. Soon as the Shadow Ball was away, the little dog Pokemon tried to run, but the web expanded too fast and caught the Pokemon, covering it in a sticky web as the electricity passed into Lillipup’s body.

The Galvantula was struck by the Shadow Ball, but it did little damage at the Pokemon recovered momentarily. The Pokemon landed on all its limbs and scurried back to Sammy’s side, ready to attack once more.

The Lillipup struggled with the web, but gave up after a moment and turned back to its opponent.

I was surprised as the little puppy formed a small black ball around its mouth, that move had to be Shadow Ball. I didn’t think that a Pokemon like that would learn a move like that. I had heard that Lillipup’s final evolved form could learn surf. You learn something new everyday. The black ball went thru the web, and hit Galvantula. He came down on the ground and came next to me.

The web hit Lillipup, and held it in place while doing damage, the little puppy turned around to face us.

“Ok,” I said, “Let’s try to make you harder to hit, and him less, Galvantula Use Agility, then, and Signal Beam go at it in a zigzag line, but kinda stay away from it too. Ok?”

Galvantula gave me an “I can do this perfectly fine” look, and started moving. He moved his four feet in union, and was soon going much faster. He moved towered the normal type and when he was about four feet away, he started glowing, emitting a yellow, purple, and bluish light. The light seemed to flow down to the gap between its feelers, and formed into a ball there. From the ball a bight light emerged, and was shot straight at the Lillipup. He them moved back quickly.
