    OOC: It's just so that if the capture attempt fails I have more creative options than "It got sucked in then escaped". Also, sometimes if a person has been doing low-quality stuff, I can just make the ball miss, but you don't have to worry about that at all :). Also, sorry for the delay, I completely spaced it :O

    "Could I bring Magmortar out and place him as a guard for Raticate until it wakes up? We could stay within sight of these two," Kyle asked.

    "Yeah, that's fine," I replied. "There's actually no limit on number of Pokemon you can have out at once. You can stroll around with your entire party if you like."

    Kyle nodded and summoned out his Magmortar. It was huge and I knew it could cause some serious damage, but at the same time I felt an aura of peace and kindness emanating from it. It stood next to the sleeping Raticate and began calmly examining the surroundings.

    While we waited for Raticate to wake up, I walked down to the shore. It was part of a Ranger's duty to keep an eye on the health of the Park, so I had decided to do a toxicity reading of this lake while I was here. It saved me coming to do it later. As I dipped the test tube into the water, I noticed a little fish swimming idly around in the shallows. Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be a Finneon. Quietly, I waved for Kyle's attention, then pointed out the fish. Without making any noise I raised my shoulders in question, asking him if he wanted to try and catch it.

    OOC: It's all right. :p I'm glad that someone else thinks that I'm doing well.

    "Yeah, that's fine," he replied. "There's actually no limit on number of Pokemon you can have out at once. You can stroll around with your entire party if you like."

    This gave me a few good ideas, but I was pleased that Magmortar could enjoy the fresh air. I released the Pokeball containing my powerful Fire-type. He hefted his yellow cannon-like arms and examined his surroundings.

    While I let Magmortar take in the new place, I lost track of my Ranger. I turned around, glancing in all directions furiously trying to find my guide. After a few seconds that seemed like hours, I saw Chainy and, apparently, he was looking for me. He waved me over, pointing at the water. There was evidently some sort of fish Pokemon.

    "Stay here and wait for Raticate to wake up, Magmortar," I said quietly to my second Pokemon.

    My Pokemon nodded and I walked over to my Ranger to see what he was looking at.

    As I neared the water, he pointed again and I could see what it was. There was a Finneon floating, curious of the creatures above it, under the water.

    Silently, he gave a questioning shrug. I responded with an equally silent shake of the head. The little neon fish was just too innocent. I didn't want to take it away from its home.

    Kyle shook his head, indicating that he didn't want the small fish. We both watched it silently as it flitted around the shallows. After a couple of minutes, it suddenly darted away into a small group of reeds. I smiled. It was good to see such a small Pokemon living happily.

    I looked at the testing equipment. The water salinity was a little above normal, but nothing worth worrying over. I packed the equipment away and stowed it in my pack. I glanced over to Raticate - he was still sleeping soundly, with Magmortar looking around quietly a few metres away.

    Suddenly, I began hearing bubbles. I looked over at the lake, and sure enough, there was a trail of bubbles on the surface, getting closer to the shore. When the Pokemon making the bubbles stepped out onto the sand, I gasped. It was a huge Kingler, and it didn't look happy. It clicked angrily and waved it's larger claw at Kyle.

    "I think it wants to fight," I said to Kyle quickly. "Do you want to, or shall we try to run?"

    Chainy seemed to understand that I didn't really want the Finneon. He's a good Ranger like that. Anyway, we watched it a little before it suddenly swam off. My Ranger gave a shrug and took a salinity reading of the water. I couldn't help but feel that there was not right about how fast it swam off. I followed him up to where I had left Magmortar and the sleeping Raticate.

    While Chainy was putting his testing equipment into his backpack, I went over to comfort and check on my Pokemon. Raticate was still snoring soundly and Magmortar, even more silent than Raticate, was standing his ground and looking off into the distance. I patted the fiery Pokemon on the back, acknowledging that it had done well. I then ran my hand through the Rat Pokemon's coarse fur, letting it know that even though it was in the land of dreams, I was still there.

    "I think it wants to fight," Chainy called to me very quickly, breaking the silence. "Do you want to, or shall we try to run?"

    I was startled at how fast things could change. I looked at Chainy and then to what he was staring at. He was right to sat that it wanted to fight; opposite me was an angry-looking Kingler. The first thing that I noticed was that it had two very large claws, one was three times as big as the other. The other menacing things about it were that it was angry, large, orange and angry. It clicked its claws a few times as if to challenge me and then began to charge. I had to think quickly.

    I flipped three Pokeballs off of my belt and into my hand and opened them recalling both Magmortar and the sleeping and unsuspecting Raticate. The third Pokeball was the one that contained my beloved Gliscor. It released him.

    Gliscor appeared in a flash of light onto the battlefield. There was less than a second between me putting Raticate and Magmortar's Pokeballs back onto my belt and me jumping on top of my Gliscor's back. I started to fly up before yelling back down to my Ranger.

    "Get out of here!" I called out.

    I knew that Gliscor could technically not fly, but it was able to spring up and glide on even the softest of breezes. The one thing I did not know, however, was if my Pokemon could carry the extra weight of me on his back.

    Thinking quickly, Kyle returned both his Magmortar and his still-sleeping Raticate. At the same time he summoned out his Gliscor, and jumped astride him. With a powerful flap of his wings, Gliscor rose high into the air, high over the Kingler. Following suit, I tapped my Staraptor's Poke Ball. Broadblade shoved off of the ground with his powerful wings, and began effortlessly gliding in circles around the severly pissed-off crab Pokemon. Unfortunately for Kyle, Gliscor wasn't doing as well. They were expert gliders, but not so good at vertical takeoffs, especially without a run-up. Furthermore, there was only a tiny breeze. Lastly, the fact that Gliscor had been hurt by the Croagunk before was the final straw that broke the camel's back. Gliscor slowly returned to Earth - he had enough energy to at least slow his fall.

    Upon realizing that the intruders weren't going anywhere, the Kingler began hissing angrily. It began rushing towards the spot where Gliscor would land. Kyle say this, and slid off of Gliscor so that his Pokemon would have more maneuverability in battle. Luckily, the Kingler ignored Kyle, preferring to concentrate on the now easily gliding Gliscor. It spat a stream of bubbles at its opponent. I guided Staraptor back onto the ground but didn't return him - while I couldn't explicitly help the Trainer, I sure could be ready to intervene if I deemed he needed the help. He should be fine though - he had two perfectly healthy Pokemon, and could always buy a Poke Doll if he really badly wanted to escape.

    The wind was in my face. It felt so good, gliding around on my Gliscor's back. It was not to last, however, because my poor, injured Pokemon couldn't withstand my weight. He began to plummet back to the ground with me on its back.

    "Mayday, mayday!" I shouted out as I spiraled back down to earth. Gliscor seemed to be trying to urge me off with a few small, controlled shakes. As I began to near dangerously close to the oncoming ground, I managed to slide myself off of the FlyScorp Pokemon and hit the hard-packed earth with a thud.

    As I got back onto my feet, the first thing I noticed was the Kingler. It loomed ahead, but did not seem to notice me. This was good because it wouldn't decide to try to murder me with its gigantic claws. However, its focus was trained upon my Gliscor who apparently had started to regain its balance. The orange crab greeted my starter with a fury of small bubbles. The attack seemed to be simply show but it obviously wasn't quite working. It looked more like a bubble sprinkler that one would give a small child to keep it entertained.

    Gliscor seemed to shrug it off but I knew that it had done some damage. I needed to give it an attack order. It was in the middle of a swoop, so I thought that it would be useful to use this to my advantage.

    "Quickly, Gliscor!" I called out, on my knees. "Use U-Turn to get back into the sky and then use your Sky Attack!"

    The U-Turn would give it a little boost and preserve the speed that it had acquired while in the downward spiral to earth. It would then fly back up into the air and charge up a monstrously powerful Sky Attack. A Sky Attack would usually involve the Pokemon being cloaked in a harsh light the first turn and charge down upon the foe with a destructive force. I had only used this particular move once before and was eager to see it once again.

    The only problem would be that I would be stuck on the ground with an angry Kingler. I decided to chance it anyway as I had already given an order. I decided that I would stay where I was and try to not look like a target.

    "Use U-Turn to get back into the sky and then use your Sky Attack!" Kyle called out.

    Gliscor used a quick dive and turn to shoot back up into the sky. While he couldn't fly, now that he was free of his Trainer he could glide almost indefinitely because of the gentle breeze. Gliscor easily avoided the slow-moving bubbles and moved up high into the sky, above the Kingler's reach. He started glowing red as the Sky Attack charged.

    Meanwhile, down below, the Kingler was performing some kind of ritual war dance. It waved its claws in the air, and swayed from side to side. As soon as it finished, Gliscor fired a powerful red blast towards the Kingler. As it got closer, the blast took on the unmistakable shape of a bird. It crashed into the Kingler, knocking it back a bit.

    The Kingler muttered in anger, and began waving its smaller claw around. A few clods of rock detached from the ground and began flying up towards Gliscor. My guess was the the Kingler was hoping to shoot down the Gliscor and then finish it off in close combat.

    My Gliscor did as he was told and swiftly dove, slammed the Kingler and flew back into the sky like a bullet. While he couldn't fly, now that he didn't have to carry me around, he could glide almost indefinitely because of the gentle breezes. Gliscor easily avoided the slow-moving bubbles and moved up higher into the sky, far above the Kingler's reach. He began glowing red as his powerful Sky Attack charged.

    Meanwhile, down below, the Kingler was performing some kind of ritual war dance. It waved its claws in the air, and swayed from side to side. As soon as the crab was finished dancing around, Gliscor fired a powerful red blast towards the Kingler. As it got closer to contact, the fiery red blast took on the unmistakable shape of a bird. It crashed into the Kingler, knocking it back a bit.

    "Guyahahaya!" the Kingler muttered in anger. It began waving its smaller claw, which was smaller by far, meaning that it was a Male. A few clods of rock detached from the ground and began flying up towards my partner with an erie glow surrounding them. The attack seemed to suggest that the Kingler wanted Gliscor to come back down to be finished off by the crab's newly heightened attack status. I was not about to let that happen.

    "Quickly, Gliscor! Do a barrel roll to dodge the attack!" I called, putting as much emphasis in the 'do a barrel roll' part as I could. "Then spiral downwards while launching your Ice Fang attack!"

    What I was imagining in my head would probably be different than what would happen, but the image in my mind involved Gliscor in a blur as it spun around, dodging the array of rocks and launching ice out of its fangs as it spun creating a wonderful display. I was practically giddy with excitement as I watched to see what would happen.

    Gliscor grunted, and threw his wings up, beginning a fall. He twisted around the large rocks, missing most of them. The last one grazed his wing but did not ruin his trajectory. He flew straight at the Kingler like a bat out of hell and the large icy jaws began crystallizing around his face again.

    Gliscor smashed into the Kingler, and brought the Ice Fang down hard, biting into the Crab Pokemon. It muttered in pain, but then coated its larger claw in water and knocked Gliscor off. It was only a glancing blow - Gliscor managed to retain his flight and he glided off into the air.

    Gliscor grunted his consent to my order, locked his wings to his sides and began a free fall. Spinning and dodging, the barrage of stones began to pass over my starter Pokemon. Expert maneuvers aren't always enough, however; one of the stones grazed the plummeting Pokemon's wing. Thankfully, this was not enough to deter him from his trajectory. My Pokemon began to form giant fangs of crystals as it neared the Kingler.

    I was unsure as to why it did this as I had asked it to launch the first version of Ice Fang that we practiced. However this probably made more sense to my Pokemon. Maybe it saw something I didn't?

    With a loud whoop from Gliscor, the crystal fangs came into contact with the orange crab Pokemon. An icy explosion appeared, briefly replacing the battling Pokemon with dark blue silhouettes. I blinked and the image disappeared as Gliscor flew away from the powerful Kingler. Suddenly, the crab's larger claw began to glow with a watery energy. It then swung its claw wildly at my Pokemon, trying to smash it down. At first I couldn't tell what had happened but then I could see Gliscor's flying pattern had been interrupted. The blow didn't seem that bad because he managed to fly off but it had to have hurt. The blows had left both Pokemon injured and one more blow could change the course of this battle. I had to choose quickly and well.

    Then it hit me. Gliscor loved to hit hard and with a different attack almost every time. He loved to keep it exciting. I had an idea. If I were to get Gliscor to bounce around the Kingler and slam it from behind, this battle could be finished.

    "Gliscor!" I called, catching my partner's attention. "Use a U-Turn at the ground in front of the Kingler to bounce over it and then attack from behind with a flurry of Poison Jabs!"

    This complicated order was exactly what he would want. What I was imagining would greatly differ from what would probably happen but in my mind's eye I saw an amazing dodge that Gliscor would pull by bouncing over the foe and assailing it from behind with blow after blow of poison soaked claws and tail. This would be a sight to behold.

    Gliscor flew in fast and straight towards the Kingler. It jinked a the last second over the crab, scoring a light hit on the face. It curved over the crab tightly, and its two claws began coated in purple energy. It began hitting the crab rapidly, and the Kingler groaned in discomfort. When it turned to try and confront its antagonist, Gliscor turned as well to stay in the blind spot. Finally, the Kingler got tired and scuttled off into the water, leaving us alone.

    "Good job chasing it off, that's usually really hard to do," I said to Kyle. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that Raticate was yawning, showing its large front teeth to the blue sky - it had finally woken up.

    Gliscor lunged at the opposing Kingler, seeming as if it were preparing to smash and batter it into submission. Of course, this was exactly what it had intended to do. It jinked a the last second over the crab, scoring a light hit on the foe's face. My partner then flew in a tight semi-circle around it as his claws and tail began to shine with a seeping purple energy. As soon as he was behind the foe, he began hitting the crab with a flurry of poisoned punches and bashes. Startled, the orange crab tried to turn to face it's assailant. Gliscor became slightly more self-aware and spun around to place itself behind the foe again. After a final smash from Gliscor's tail, the Kingler, disheartened, scuttled away and leapt into the water.

    Gliscor flew over to me, tired but still pleased. I returned him to his Pokeball.

    "Good job chasing it off, that's usually really hard to do," my Ranger said to me.

    I turned to look at him and smiled. Compliments are always good. I guess we both saw motion out of the corner of our eyes, because we turned at the same time to face the source.

    My Raticate had awakened after staying asleep off to the side of the battle. I rushed over to make sure that he was all right.

    "Hey, bud," I said to him. He leapt up onto his feet, ready for a battle. "How're you doing?"

    My brown rat Pokemon took a quick look around, determined that there was no imminent danger and then gave me a small head bow that could be considered a nod. I patted him on the head and then stood up.

    "Okay, Chainy," I called over to him. "Let's move out onto the water."

    I shot him a sidelong look. None of his Pokemon had access to the Surf technique, so there wasn't really any way to get out there at this very second. I took a quick look around - there didn't seem to be any piers or outposts nearby either.

    "If you want to go out on the water, we'll have to find a boat," I said to my Trainer, "let's move along and keep an eye out for one."

    I led Kyle along the banks of the lake - that way we could still keep an eye out for aquatic Pokemon near the shore, the next best thing to being out on the water itself. I looked back at the procession - it was actually quite amusing. I was in the lead, with Kyle not far behind. Right behind him was his Magmortar, taking its guard duty very seriously. Raticate bounded around just behind us, eagerly sniffing small holes and shurbs, and Broadblade and Gliscor circled around in the sky above us.

    I noticed up ahead a large brown Pokemon. As we got closer, I realised what it was - a Bibarel, one of the few non-Flying dual-typed Normal Pokemon. It was quite famous for its even temperament.

    "Interested in catching a Bibarel?" I asked Kyle as we moved closer.

    "If you want to go out on the water, we'll have to find a boat," Chainy told me, "let's move along and keep an eye out for one."

    Right. That was stupid of me, I said to myself. I followed my Ranger around as we looked for a pier so that we could get on a boat. My Pokemon were spread around, having as much fun in the new terrain as possible. Raticate was bounding along, sometimes at my side and sometimes sniffing about through holes and vegetation. Gliscor glided silently around, playing games a game of three dimensional tag with Chainy's Staraptor, Broadblade. Magmortar was walking calmly behind all of us, within my reach. He was taking the job I had given him seriously, guarding all of us and toying with the occasional burst of fire as practice.

    Once again, however, I almost ran into my Ranger. He had stopped, so I gave a silencing gesture to Raticate and Magmortar to keep them from accidently causing any trouble. Magmortar had already stopped because he had been paying attention, but Raticate took it as an invitation to be petted by me. He bounded over, which was good enough. Broadblade seemed to have told Gliscor what was happening, because both were in a holding pattern.

    I looked around to see what it was that Chainy would have stopped me for, because it was most likely a Pokemon. I noticed the critter near a log. It was brown and looked like a rather large beaver.

    "Interested in catching a Bibarel?" my Ranger asked me.

    So that's what it was. I took another look at it and determined that it wasn't worth it. I had only a few Park Balls left and it didn't seem to be very powerful.

    "Nah," I answered. "Let's keep going."

    I then turned to my Raticate.

    "You stay with me until we get past this Pokemon, okay Raticate?"

    "Nah, let's keep going," Kyle said to me before cautioning his Raticate to stay close. The rat Pokemon nodded, and moved a little closer to his Trainer.

    We began to carefully walk past the Bibarel, trying not to attract its attention. We were unsuccessful - it turned around and saw us, but didn't make any move to chase after it. It simply cocked its head like it was confused, and then returned to whatever it was doing.

    I gently pushed Kyle, silently telling him to walk faster. Our group increased its speed, and we managed to get past the Wild Pokemon without any incidents.

    We continued to walk around the edge of the lake. I was sure that a boat dock was just up ahead. I was about to inform Kyle of this when a small blue penguin-like Pokemon walked out from behind some tall rocks. It picked up two small pebbles and began knocking them together, creating a rudimentary rhythm-based song.

    "How about a Piplup, then?" I asked Kyle.

    We walked along carefully, trying to avoid the lumbering Bibarel that was ahead of us. There was a close call, but it went straight back to whatever it was that it was doing after giving us a brief confused look and a Bibarel's version of a shrug. Chainy urged us on a little faster after that.

    We kept walking, I assume towards a boat and dock, when Chainy stopped abruptly again. Knowing this meant that there was a Pokemon ahead, I stopped as well and began to look in the area in front of us.

    It was then that I saw it. There was a blue penguin Pokemon clapping out a beat with two rocks. I chuckled a bit at the cute little musical.

    "How about a Piplup, then?" my Ranger asked me.

    I considered it briefly, but then decided to turn it down. I had already owned one at a point before trading it away and the little thing seemed just way to happy.

    I mentioned this to Chainy, but then summoned my Tyranitar.

    After telling my Jolly Pokemon friend to not start a Sandstorm, he started to hear the beat that the penguin Pokemon was playing. Pleased that he could finally have a little fun, my lumbering Pokemon began to dance and roar out a soft harmony for the Piplup's melody, loud enough for the blue penguin to hear that we were playing music with it. I began to dance a little jig, motioning for Chainy to do the same.

    Kyle thought about it for a bit but eventually decided against it. He told me he had already tried training a Piplup once before, and it didn't work out too well. "Besides," he said, "the Piplup seems so happy."

    He pulled out a Poke Ball and summoned his Tyranitar, the only Pokemon who had yet to appear. I remembered questioning his choice of using a Tyranitar at the lakes, but then again, I'd seen Infernapes and Houndooms in here before, so I wasn't surprised.

    The Tyranitar cocked its head, hearing the beats of the rocks. It smiled, quite rare for a Tyranitar, and began growling softly with the tune. It also shook its tail and large body rhythmically, swaying in time to the music. Kyle began to dance along too, motioning for me to join in. I shook my hand in a polite decline, but still smiled openly. You never knew when Buzz would appear, camera in hand.

    After a few minutes, it seemed like time to move on. We were just about to leave when the Piplup squeaked sadly and ran over the Tyranitar, hugging its leg.

    "I don't think it wants us to leave," I said to Kyle.

    As Tyranitar and I danced along, bouncing to the Piplup's beat, Chainy began to show a big smile. It didn't seem like he had ever seen a smiling Tyranitar, so this was a pleasant first for my Ranger. As we danced and Tyranitar roared a harmony, the small penguin Pokemon dashed towards us, wrapping its flippers around my partner's leg in an adoring hug.

    "I don't think it wants us to leave," my Ranger told me.

    I could see that it was so. The little Piplup seemed to love my Rock-type's musical sense. I didn't know what I wanted to do, because I had no will to hurt the Piplup physically or emotionally. Then I had an idea.

    I made a beckoning motion to the Piplup and then picked it up under the flippers after it walked a little bit closer to me. I set on my Tyranitar's back, letting the two know each other. They seemed happy, so I turned to Chainy.

    "That should fix things for a while," I told him with a smile on my face.

    "Don't make that much noise, okay guys?" I said, turning to the two Pokemon. "I don't want to scare away the other wild Pokemon."

    I then motioned for Chainy to lead us on our way.

    Ranger Chainy

    ~~~~~
    Kyle curled his hand towards himself, beckoning the Piplup to come closer. It did so happily, and it squealed with happiness as Kyle raised it into the air. He put it in a chink on the Tyranitar's back. The Piplup squeaked happily, holding onto the Tyranitar's rocky bulk. I looked at the Wild Pokemon before shrugging. This was highly irregular, but everyone seemed happy, so I decided to let it pass.
    We continued around the edge of the lake, our huge party comprising of six Pokemon and two humans. I amused myself thinking that we almost looked like a small army or a band of marauders or something. It'd look even more impressive if I released all my Pokemon as well, but I decided not to. Smash would fit in easily, but I wasn't sure about Meta, and Dual probably wouldn't be impressed.
    I watched the surface of the lake, enjoying the light play on the waves when a large red fish jumped out of the water. I knew immediately what it was - a Magikarp, one of the butt-monkeys of the Pokemon world. I pointed it out to Kyle - I doubted he wanted it, but I had to offer nonetheless.
    After I set the Piplup down onto Tyranitar's armor, it squeaked happily and wrapped its tiny blue flippers around the Rock type's neck. I looked at Chainy, but he just shrugged indicating that this was rather unusual. I shrugged back and we began to walk, looking for that elusive boating dock.
    The eight of us, six Pokemon and two humans, trundled along practically looking for trouble. Our party was so great, it was no wonder when we came upon a Pokemon. It was a Magikarp, the joke of the Pokemon world.
    "Interested?" my Ranger asked.
    I smiled and shook my head. Chainy didn't seem to be expecting anything else, which was fine by me. Most people either already owned a Magikarp or its evolution. The ones that didn't weren't interested. The little orange fish were everywhere.
    I shook my head again, this time with a small smile. I then motioned for Chainy to lead the way.
