“You betcha. I'd love to take this thing on,” Eric replied, sounding oddly chipper despite running into yet another Fighting-type. He appeared to be debating on how to go about it though, looking over at Scizor while holding on to another Pokeball as well.

While it was strange to see a Trainer happy to run into so many Fighting-types when they had originally came here to look for Ice-types instead, Makina was hardly surprised by Eric's reaction. After all, Mienfoo were quite popular as well, and excellent battlers. Still, he was faced with a slight type disadvantage by using Scizor. Perhaps his last Pokemon would finally be revealed.

<Or you could just check your PDA,> Aria pointed out, sounding a little disgruntled. Apparently seeing a long chain of Pokemon that were nearly her polar opposite (complete opposite counting Scraggy) were wearing at the Gardevoir's patience. Still, Makina waved off the remark for now.

Eric appeared to have come to a decision, and had pulled out Scizor's Pokeball. “Alright, Scizor return for a second !” he shouted loudly, recalling the Bug-type and holstering the Ball as he tossed another sphere forward, “Now, come back out Scizor!”

    ...What?
This time Makina pulled out her PDA, trying to figure out what was going on. She took another look at the Pokemon Eric had brought along for this trip, certain that she had not seen two Scizor on the list. Since a fee was required for every Pokemon entered after the second one, it was almost unheard of for a Trainer to bring along two of the same species along. Seeing the name of the last Pokemon on the list cleared things up however. Ah, so he has one of those? This was bound to be an interesting battle to watch after all, even Aria couldn't deny that.

As the form of a Scizor materialized on to the field once more, Mienfoo quickly got into a battle pose. It had relaxed upon seeing a recall, but both seeing the Trainer's Pokemon back on the field and sporting a sinister gleam in its eyes this time around made the young Martial Arts Pokemon uneasy.

“Alright Scizor, get started with an Aerial Ace attack. With your Technician ability this attack should do a decent chunk, and be a good way to start off this battle,” Eric commanded, giving a wink at the end to clue in his partner.

Scizor kept silent, though he almost appeared to smirk in response to Eric's command before doing an acrobatic leap forward while unsheathing his wings. The creature's speed seemed to be more fluid compared to his sure and steady steps earlier, making the increase seem almost inhuman.

Mienfoo responded with a flip of its own, leaping nimbly into the air and meeting Scizor midway. The two collided, both taking damage but blunting both of their attacks as they both struck- Mienfoo using its fists and Scizor using his wings. They both landed on opposite sides, with the wild Pokemon landing somewhat more gracefully.

<Obviously female.> Aria commented mostly to herself, <After all, name a graceful male Pokemon.>

Makina tried not to smile as she overheard Aria's comment. She could think of quite a few male Pokemon who could be just as graceful, but held back on commenting for now. It would just irritate her partner further after all.

Scizor began to shimmer as he landed, his form melting away to reveal the red-maned form of a Zoroark The Illusion Fox Pokemon was openly smirking at Mienfoo now, judging to see how his opponent would react to this change.

Mienfoo started slightly at seeing her enemy's true form, but responded by going into a small trance to clear her mind before getting ready for her next attack.

Zoroark got the attack in on Mienfoo, while, ironically enough, taking the same exact attack itself, Aerial Ace. This in the process caused Zoroark's true form to be reveled. It was a fox-like Pokemon, who was a very dark shade of gray in color. It also had areas of crimson, and black on its body. With a long, red mane, that sported black tips. It had three claws on its arms, and feet which too were red in color. This was a Dark-type Pokemon, and well, it actually made people think of Lucario at times. Though I wasn't entirely sure why. Either way I had somewhat a predicament on my hands. After its attack, Mienfoo went into a sort of standing meditation state. It was clearing out its mind, and in the process boosting its Special Attack, and Special Defense. This wasn't good for me, because my Zoroark didn't know too many Physical attacks, and the ones it did know were generally Dark-type moves, which wouldn't even do much in the first place. Oh well, I figured all I could really do is try to make do with what I had. Besides maybe it was for the best anyway, or else I might be tempted to have Zoroark use Flamethrower, which would probably end up melting all of the ice around here anyway. And I thought that if Mienfoo could buff itself up a little, then why couldn't Zoroark do so too?

"Alright Zoroark, that was a good start. Now, use a Hone Claws, and then follow that up with a Low Sweep," I commanded. Well if Mienfoo was going to boost up its Special Attack, then I was going to have Zoroark boost up its Attack. That was what Hone Claws did, it would sharpen your claws, and therefore increasing your attack power, because a sharp claw is bound to deal more damage. This wouldn't just boost attack though, no, it would also boost Accuracy. That was good for using moves that you might like to rely on, but be afraid of missing, such as Stone Edge, Thunder, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, and Focus Blast. Of course at this point in time I didn't really have any moves I'd been planning to use that needed an Accuracy boost. This was purely just for attacking purposes. Maybe down the road though I could attempt a Focus Blast, and the accuracy boost would help there, so at least it maybe wouldn't miss, and end up blowing out one of the cave walls. It was wishful thinking at least. I'd deal with that when the time came though.

After this was going to be Low Sweep. Mienfoo had probably seen this attack before, because I knew they were capable of using it. To be honest Mienfoo could actually learn a lot of nice attacks, just not any elemental punches which was weird. This attack would focus on attacking the opposing Pokemon's legs, such as by sweeping them out from under them with the attacking Pokemon's legs. In doing this it would make it a little harder for the opposing Pokemon to move, and therefore reduce their speed. I wasn't after a speed reduce here though, I just wanted to weaken Mienfoo a little bit, so that I wouldn't need to throw a ton of attacks in its face before I could capture it. Not to say I didn't intend to not attack it as much as needed, but I was a busy man, and I had other things to attend to at other areas of the National Park. Plus, I kinda wanted to go home, and take a nap anyway. So all I could do for the time being was wait and see if Zoroark lands its attack, and how much it does so I'll know what I need to do next.

Eric didn't seem none too happy about seeing the wild Mienfoo buff up her defenses, and rightly so. Zoroark were known not only for their impeccable illusions, but for their ability to keep up said illusions by attacking from a distance. Since their opponent had raised its defense on long-range attacks though, this was more a hindrance than benefit at the moment. After thinking a moment, he called out his next attack. “Alright Zoroark, that was a good start. Now, use a Hone Claws, and then follow that up with a Low Sweep,” he commanded.

Makina nodded approvingly, though it was interesting to see that the Trainer had finally used a non-offensive move, granted an attack-boosting one. Hone Claws would increase Zoroark's power and accuracy, and Low Sweep was a tactical move that would both damage and lower the speed of the target. This, paired with the Dark-type's already considerable speed, would give them a nice advantage.

Zoroark began to rub his two front claws together, causing them to sheen with power and sharpness. Mienfoo, who was completing her prior move, could only watch in subdued annoyance. Once this was done, he bounded towards the wild Pokemon and swiped low with a single claw, aiming low to knock Mienfoo off her feet. Not expecting a physical attack so soon, the Fighting-type stumbled and tripped, hobbled for the moment.

Mienfoo was not out of tricks just yet, and was clearly unhappy to see her enemy this close. Holding her two fists into an energy charging gesture towards Zoroark, she fired off a silvery white beam at the Illusion Fox Pokemon, hitting him dead-on and sending him skidding several feet away. It was quite obvious that for now, Mienfoo wished to play this battle at a distance.

Things weren't going so nicely for me. Zoroark did manage to get its Hone Claws in, and managed to kick away at Mienfoo's legs, but the creature fired off a powerful Fighting-type attack in retaliation. It put its two hands together in front of Zoroark's stomach, and began to call up an energy from within its body. It was an energy blast created from the aura inside Mienfoo's body. The blast, or bomb, was, at least in my eyes anyway, blueish-white in color. It was Aura Sphere. The attack hit Zoroark, and sent it back a few feet. If I didn't know any better I'd say that Mienfoo had wanted to keep this battle from being one of close combat. It would rather play things out from a distance, but that just really wasn't an option for me, because Zoroark didn't have a lot of long distance striking moves. It was risky, but I had to keep it close, hand to hand combat. I wasn't really sure what moves to have it do though, so I was just going to wing it.

"Now, use a Faint Attack, followed by a Night Slash," I commanded. I was running short on ideas. Zoroark didn't have too many powerful attacks it could throw at Mienfoo, and it was much too soon to attempt to use Aerial Ace. Not to mention that using Flamethrower, or Focus Blast could cause some collateral damage. By collateral damage I didn't mean to Mienfoo, I meant to the area around here. Like I had said I already made enough of a mess in the previous room, so I didn't feel like doing that again. Not to mention that with Mienfoo having boosted its Special Defense, those attacks wouldn't even be as powerful anyway. Things weren't particularly going my way right now, but I was hopeful that I could somehow figure out how to turn the tide of this battle in my favor. It wouldn't be easy though. Not to mention that I would need luck on my side too, since Mienfoo was still superior to Zoroark as far as type match-ups went.

The way Faint Attack would work, was that Zoroark would walk near Mienfoo like it had no intentions of attacking it, to hopefully make it drop its guard. Then when everything seemed to be going smoothly, a sucker punch would then be thrown. This was meant to cause some damage, sure, but ultimately I mostly wanted this to allow Zoroark to get close to her, so that he could use his other attack to perfection. That attack was Night Slash. Just like Faint Attack, Night Slash too was also a Dark-type, Physical attack. The user would take their sharp claws, and attack the second an opportunity presented itself. Because you'd be attacking with razor sharp claws, it was a little easier to land a critical hit. I didn't care about a critical hit that much though, I just wanted to try to weaken this Mienfoo a bit, and this seemed like a good way to do so since Zoroark's claws were already sharp from the Hone Claws it used.

Even if this worked out though, I knew that this battle wouldn't still be over just yet. Dark-type moves weren't that good against Fighting-type Pokemon, and in some cases they actually helped them, like if the opposing Pokemon had Justified as their ability. I couldn't worry that much though. I just had to take this battle one move at a time, and see where it would take me.

Seeing that Mienfoo was attempting to stay as far away as possible, Eric tried another approach. “Now, use a Faint Attack, followed by a Night Slash,” he commanded Zoroark. Judging from his tone of voice, it sounded like he was running out of ideas.

Makina thought it was strange for Eric to call out such ineffective attacks to use against this Pokemon, let alone one. After all, Fighting-type Pokemon were resistant against Dark-type moves; even though Zoroark would get a slight attack boost by using moves of his element the damage would still be minimal. Plus, Mienfoo still seemed healthy enough to take a few normally-effective moves. The only thing to do was to wait and see what Eric had planned.

Zoroark appeared to slightly shrug in acknowledgment, then faded out of sight. This was the beginning of Faint Attack, a move that hit without fail by either attacking the target when least expected or fading away to get a sucker punch in. For this time around, it looked like Zoroark was taking the latter approach.

As the Dark-type disappeared, Mienfoo seemed lost on what to do next. She looked about the area, even turning around to look at the tunnel behind her to see if the Illusion Fox somehow snuck past her in an attempt to run. It wasn't until Mienfoo turned her gaze towards Eric that Zoroark finally reappeared, getting a punch in on her blind side.

Jumping in surprise, Mienfoo converted her leap into a slight flip, landing a couple kicks on Zoroark in the process. Judging from the nimble kick this was Acrobatics, an agile move that did more damage if the user was not holding an item. Since Mienfoo was not encumbered by anything, the move did full damage. As the Fighting-type landed though, Zoroark used his heightened speed to quickly land a Night Slash, a slicing attack imbued with darkness. While the damage was dulled, it still managed to hurt the wild Pokemon somewhat.

Seeing that her opponent was too close once more, she leaped straight up into the air, far above Zoroark. For a moment the Martial Arts Pokemon seemed almost suspended in the air, looking down as she judged just where to land. This had to be Bounce- a move where the user jumps high up and eventually crashes down on their target. For the moment, the next move was up to Eric.

This battle kept going back, and forth. Zoroark managed to get a nice shot in, but Mienfoo easily retaliated with a very powerful move I had used in an early encounter. It had used Acrobatics, a very powerful Flying-type move in some cases. This wasn't all though. The Mienfoo jumped high into the air, where it hung around for a few moments. It must have been using Bounce, and you know I had to say that for a Fighting-type Pokemon this Mienfoo seemed to be using an awful lot of Flying-type moves. Maybe it trained itself to know how they worked, so that it could focus on its own strengths and weaknesses, since she was weak to Flying-type moves. There wasn't really anything I could do, besides wait for Mienfoo to come back down. I could have attempted Flamethrower, but with one of them on the ground, and the other in the air, the individual in the air usually had a pretty good chance of avoiding what was thrown their way. I'd need to wait, and strike when an opportunity presented itself.

At this point I was just going to try to go for broke, and see where it got me. "Alright Zoroark, that thing is going to come down sooner or later. When it does try to hit with Hidden Power, followed by Fury Swipes." I didn't even know what I was doing anymore. I was tired, and I wanted to go home so I could go to sleep, but I didn't want to leave without this Mienfoo. It wouldn't have been a problem if I had just taken three of the things I had already captured, and just left, but no, I had to stick around, and see what else would come my way. I blame that Sneasel from earlier for this! Either way though I knew that I wasn't leaving here without Mienfoo, no matter how long it took.

Hidden Power though was unique. It could be different for every Pokemon, because its Hidden Power could be any one of sixteen different types, only excluding the Normal-type. The user would draw in energy, and release a powerful blast from their body. In this case Zoroark happened to have Hidden Power Ice, so I was hoping that the attack could either be used quicker, or blend in with the natural surroundings to fool Mienfoo, since we were surrounded by ice. It was a bit different to think of, but in times like these you'll throw whatever you can at your opponent. That was the case with Fury Swipes anyway, since it wasn't much of an attack, it was just something Mienfoo hadn't seen yet. The user would slash at the foe a few times, slightly lowering their health with each blow. It could hit anywhere between two, through five times. I was just hoping that I was going with the right move choices here, because there wasn't a whole lot more Zoroark could do.

Eric looked over at the currently airborne Mienfoo, seemingly at a loss on what to do next. Finally, he called out his next commands. “Alright Zoroark, that thing is going to come down sooner or later. When it does try to hit with Hidden Power, followed by Fury Swipes,” he said.

Makina tried a moment to figure out Eric's current strategy, failed, and decided to take another look at her PDA once more. This choice was strange due to the fact that, not only were they rarely used, but the latter was quite weak. Unless the user had Skill Link or was using a super-effective move, multi-hit attacks often did only a miniscule amount of damage. There had to be another reason for this. Pulling up Zoroark's move list, she looked over the attacks carefully.

<It's possible that he might be trying to bypass Calm Mind's defenses,> Aria noted, looking over Makina's shoulder as she read the screen as well. <That or he is mainly a physical battler, he did barely use any special attacks earlier after all.>

True, and Dark attacks won't do much either, due to what we saw earlier, Makina agreed. Oddly enough, it appeared as if this battle had inadvertently ended up as Eric's hardest yet for this encounter, if only for the type and move disadvantage.

As Mienfoo dropped down towards Zoroark, the Illusion Fox Pokemon shot a pulse of chilling blue energy upwards, aiming it so his opponent would fall right in to the shot. While the attack did manage to hit Mienfoo and cause her to slightly shiver, she crashed down square upon Zoroark's back, forcing him down to all fours for a second before she hopped off.

As soon as the Wild Pokemon jumped off, Zoroark stood back up and wildly slashed forward, landing four swipes on his target before Mienfoo could get another move in. the Fighting-type took another short hop back to get out of the way, then slammed her hands to the ground. Moments later, thin tendrils of what appeared to be grass shot up from the ground and wrapped around Zoroark's legs to trip him up. Mienfoo gave a grin of triumph at her trapped foe- and quickly changed to dismay as the flora almost immediately froze over, allowing the Dark-type to easily break away the grass into dust.

“Looks like Mienfoo wasn't expecting that. You might not get another chance, so make this hit count,” Makina advised.

Zoroark managed to do some damage to Mienfoo, but even after Bounce was done she did something I didn't expect. She caused grass to rise up from the ground, no doubt in an attempt to try to trip Zoroark. It was odd though, odd that Grass Knot, could, or even would be used in a cave, let alone one filled with ice. Why it was pointless proven in a matter of moments. While Mienfoo was busy patting itself on the back, the grass froze over, and Zoroark was easily able to break free from it. This surprised Mienfoo. I wasn't too surprised though, I mean just look outside at your front yard in the colder months. The grass generally dies. In this case though it was even colder here than your house might normally be, so it was natural for it to freeze over.

“Looks like Mienfoo wasn't expecting that. You might not get another chance, so make this hit count,” Akinai said. She was right, it was now or never. No more worrying about the amount of damage that may have been dealt, or if this was the best attack choice. I knew there was only one move that could actually make a difference. It wasn't something I thought I'd be using, but I knew it was pretty much my last choice now.

"Okay Zoroark, go ahead and use Focus Blast," I commanded. This was the only move that I hadn't used yet, that I felt had enough power to really make some progress. Focus Blast was a very powerful Fighting-type move, but it wasn't easy to hit. Not to mention it also took a bit of time to gather the needed energy to use said attack. Zoroark would begin to focus, and stick its right hand forward. Most Pokemon used both hands for Focus Blast, but in Zoroark's case it would only use one. It would focus all its energy into its hand, and start to form a ball of energy. This ball would being to grow, until it was about medium sized. He would then unleash the blast at Mienfoo, hopefully hitting it. I was hoping this would be enough to make Mienfoo able to be caught, but I didn't want to risk throwing a ball, and potentially wasting it until I was sure.

Eric nodded and called out his next command, wasting no time at all. "Okay Zoroark, go ahead and use Focus Blast," he commanded. Either he had been waiting for a moment like this or wanted to wrap this up with a single powerful attack, it was impossible to tell.

Zoroark held one of his claws forward, using his other arm to hold the former steady, and began to focus. A sphere of energy began to form in the claw, starting soft at first then eventually began to shine with a brilliant light. This was Focus Blast, a move that, while looking similar to Aura Sphere, was a lot more powerful due to the increase of power used. The only drawback was because the attack had to be focused on a specific point it was a lot less accurate. Due to Mienfoo's hesitation and lowered speed this was hardly an issue though; the blast struck her right in the chest, knocking her over.

Mienfoo crawled back to her feet, eyes now as wide as saucers as she looked over at Zoroark. It was clear that she had no idea that her opponent had such a powerful move in their arsenal, and one that she could use as well to boot. Only one thing was clear to her now, and that was to make sure that attack would not be used again. She jumped, landing herself neatly behind Zoroark before dropping low to the ground and kicked the Dark type's feet out from under him, causing him to land flat on his rear.

Makina watched carefully, certain that this battle was coming to an end. While both were running low on strategies, Mienfoo was obviously still a little shaken up or she never would've moved back into close range. It was all up to Eric now.

OOC: Ending it once I capture Mienfoo, just so you know. Like I said too, taking Riolu, Scraggy, and Mienfoo itself. Also, I'll get back to posting in yours again tomorrow morning.

IC: Mienfoo took the blast head on, but it wasn't enough to stop it in its tracks. Mienfoo got back up, looking rather dazed. It seemed like it had no idea that Zoroark could throw an attack like that its way since it had thrown nothing relatively that powerful. It wasn't the end though, because Mienfoo jumped behind Zoroark, and kicked his legs out from under him causing him to fall on his butt. She used Low Sweep, which I feel she just stole from me before. Either way though this was as good a time as any.

I dropped my bag to the ground, and went to grab one of the balls I had. I wanted to make this capture as likely as possible, so like I had previously done with Riolu, I pulled out a Hyper Ball from there, and set my sights on Mienfoo. I enlarged it, and tossed it. This had actually been one of the longer battles I had here, and coincidentally I also deemed it to be my hardest battle. I had felt I'd done enough here though to secure my fifth, and what I was making, final capture of this run.

Eric dropped his pack to the floor and began to search through it, mostly looking for a Ball at this point. Moments later he pulled out a Hyperball, which was actually pretty unsurprising. While Mienfoo did appear weak, there was something about the way she still moved about with a slight spring that suggested that the Pokemon still had a little fight left.

Eric lobbed the sphere forward, the Ball tapping the Pokemon's head before it was sucked in.While the Hyperball wobbled about for a moment, it eventually grew still and let off a ping, announcing yet another capture.

“Congratulations are in order once more,” Makina said, picking up the Ball and placing it with the others. When she turned around, she was not surprised to see that Eric had recalled Zoroark and was now looking the way they had entered from. She had never taken anyone through that had stayed after their third capture, and this Trainer had managed to stay for an extra two more. Most likely both he and his Pokemon were exhausted.

Aria, think you can manage a Teleport back to the base with two people? She asked her partner, earning an annoyed look from the Gardevoir. Of course Aria could do it, but she wanted to ask first; after all, it was polite to do so.

“Right... so Aria has agreed to Teleport us back, if you want,” Makina said to Eric, who nodded in response. “Let's head back to the Outpost, and we'll get your Pokemon sorted out there.”
