Eric decided he didn’t want to capture Magby, but the little Pokemon didn’t really seem to care. After its initial surprise from being smacked by Dagger, the little Pokemon scampered off hurriedly. I don’t know what Kili had done to make it so teed off so quickly, but apparently whatever she’d done didn’t make it mad enough to want to stand against an angry Floatzel. I watched it rush off into one of the caves and shook my head, glancing over at Dagger and Kili. The little Zorua seemed to have calmed down now, though when Dagger set her down she was much more cautious, not bounding ahead of us any longer.

“Well, I suppose we should-“ I started, only to cut myself off when a spiky brown ball came rolling out of the cave Magby had vanished into. After a moment it came to a rest, then uncurled itself and stood up, revealing itself to be a Sandslash. The Pokemon glared at us with small black eyes, and I heard a sort of laugh coming from the cave. I looked over and spotted Magby, a gloating look on its face as it laughed. Apparently the little bugger had fetched a friend to avenge it for being hit by Dagger. I sighed a little and turned my attention to Eric, telling him, “Well, this one might be a bit tougher to get away from. If you don’t want a Sandslash you might wanna toss one of those PokeDolls, because I don’t think we’re going to be able to just walk away from this one.”

Sandslash made an angry noise, confirming my suspicions. Dagger growled at it and Kili hunkered down between her father’s paws, staring intently at Sandslash. I couldn’t tell if she was afraid or just watching it from a safe place, but either way her attention was firmly on the larger Ground-type Pokemon.

OOC: Excuse the crappy post, not feeling so good atm so

IC: Magby left us alone, causing no trouble. I don't know if it had been startled because of Floatzel, or if it just didn't care to battle. I didn't mind either way, we were able to get away from it without me needing to use a Pokedoll. Granted I had ten of them on me, but still.

“Well, I suppose we should-" Sara started to say, before a brown ball with spikes on it came rolling into our view. Once it stopped rolling it revealed itself to be a Sandslash. It appeared to have some razor sharp claws, and pitch black eyes. As I busy focusing my attention on Sandslash, I couldn't help but notice Sara turn her attention elsewhere. I didn't think much of that though, if it had been something of importance she would have made it a point to let me know about it.

She turned her focus back to me and offered me a warning, “well, this one might be a bit tougher to get away from. If you don’t want a Sandslash you might wanna toss one of those PokeDolls, because I don’t think we’re going to be able to just walk away from this one.”

"I have bigger fish in mind to look for on this run, I don't want a Sandslash. But you're right, it would probably be best to throw a Pokedoll in this situation," I said to Sara, as I pulled out one of my Pokedolls. I liked being ready for any situation, even if that meant running, that's why I made sure to stock up on plenty of Pokedolls, just in case of stuff like this.

Sandslash was glaring balefully at Dagger when Eric pulled free a PokeDoll, which I took from him and proceeded to give it a shake. We’d been experimenting with special hormones that made Pokemon melt, much like a cat over high-quality catnip. After a few firm shakes to activate the hormone contained inside, I tossed the Doll over to where Sandslash was intently watching me. The moment the little Clefairy doll hit the ground, Sandslash pounced on it in an aggressive manner. After a moment or two, though, it had flopped onto its side and was playfully kicking the doll with its feet, clutching to its chest with its massive front claws.

“That should keep it busy for a while.” I said, wiping my hands together and glancing at the others. Dagger looked intrigued by the Doll, most likely catching a whiff of the hormones coming from it; Kili, being too young to be affected, simply gave a little growl that sounded more cute than threatening. I motioned for the others to follow and carefully moved around Sandslash, who was now oblvious to us, thank s to the PokeDoll in its lethal grip.

We moved farther up the trail, and as we went up a fine sheet of ash started to fall around us. Knowing this path well from many times of traversing it, I pointed out areas where the trail dipped or was otherwise uneven; many tripping and falling hazards were hidden under thick, fluffy piles of light gray ash, impossible to spot and dangerous if you didn’t know where they were. One misstep could sprain an ankle or cause one to topple off the path.

“It starts to get really rough about another half-mile up,” I told Eric after about ten minutes. “The path becomes scattered with stones and boulders, and the ash can make the trail slippery and at times completely covers it. If you’re willing to do a fair amount of serious hiking we can continue up the path to where it becomes more even again, or we could head inside into the mountain and hunt around some of the caves for some Pokemon.”

Sandslash seemed to be content with the Pokedoll, rather than a battle. Though Floatzel also seemed to have some interest in the Pokedoll too, though I had no idea why. Since Sandslash was now too distracted to care about us Sara started leading me further up the path.

As we continued along some ash started to fall on us. It was rather nice actually, it reminded me of snow in a way which was refreshing to think about in the heat at Mt. Deckbi. Along the way Sara made it a point to point out where exactly the trail was, making sure Ambipom, as well as myself, didn't get hurt.

“It starts to get really rough about another half-mile up. The path becomes scattered with stones and boulders, and the ash can make the trail slippery and at times completely covers it. If you’re willing to do a fair amount of serious hiking we can continue up the path to where it becomes more even again, or we could head inside into the mountain and hunt around some of the caves for some Pokemon," Sara told me to give me the option to pick which way we go.

"Lets head into the cave. It isn't worth risking an injury for anyone of us to just hike up the mountain with those conditions, so I'm fine using the caves to try and locate some stuff," I answered figuring taking the safer route idea would probably be better.

Eric opted to head into the caves to hunt for Pokemon, which I had to say was a good idea. We could always exit the caves further up the mountain, coming back on to the path when it was safer and easier to navigate. I nodded once and pulled another PokeBall free, tossing it to the ground and releasing the creature inside. When the blast of white light cleared away, an Absol was revealed. She stretched and glanced around, nodding politely at Dagger. The Floatzel simply stared at her though; even he was cautios around the Quirky Absol. She had a habit of being peculiar and over-the-top, but despite that she was quite gentle and fun-loving.

“Kilia, we’re going to head inside the mountain, so I’d like you to use your Will-o-Wisp to help light the way,” I told her. She made a happy sound and pranced around me, tossing her ebony, blade-like horn and looking extremely exuberant. I chuckled at her reaction, feeling bad that she didn’t get as much time to help lead Trainers as Dagger did. I would have to start bringing her more often, that was all there was to it.

I turned and started to lead our little party towards a cave about five feet away when a large, dark shadow abruptly slid over us. Seconds later a wave of hot air washed over the area, causing Kili to yap fearfully. Kilia simply danced around, clearly unconcerned with what was happening, and Dagger let out a growl as he looked up. I copied his movement, craning my head back and letting out a low, slow whistle at what I saw. Dagger’s growl died in his throat; Kilia, when she looked up as well, let out a howl of cheerful greeting; Kili, sensing the might of the beast above us, simply fell silent and stared at it.

Reshiram, one of the majestic and super-powerful Legends that lived here at Mount Deckbi, was hovering maybe twenty feet above us.

The ivory-scaled Dragon had its wings spread wide even though it wasn’t moving, peering down at use with electric-blue eyes. A bright ruby glow was emanating from its flowing, torch-like tail; I had heard stories of how flames intense enough to rival the sun could be shot from that tail, useful not only for attacking but for generating immense force for getting around faster.

The Dragon, for whatever reason, seemed interested in us, which was obvious since it was hanging around instead of zipping off. I’d only seen Reshiram one other time, and even though I knew it had seen me as well, that time it had ignored me completely. Maybe it was because it had seen me before and knew I was simply doing work around the Park, which granted, wasn’t very interesting. Now, though, I was leading a Trainer around Mount Deckbi. Perhaps Reshiram was intrigued by the idea of one little human leading another around to catch Pokemon. Maybe it liked the color of Eric’s shirt. I couldn’t say why the mythical Pokemon was paying us such attention, but I knew an experience like this would only come once in a lifetime.

Sara let out an Absol once she knew where I wanted to go. I was wondering why bring out an Absol now? It didn't seem to have much of a reason to be out, but Sara soon gave it a command, and I understood why.

“Kilia, we’re going to head inside the mountain, so I’d like you to use your Will-o-Wisp to help light the way,” Sara told her Absol, this way we'd have light along the way. Using a Will-o-Wisp as a means for light certainly seemed different to me, to say the least. It wasn't like using a Chandelure and just having it out in the open where its flames would create light.

Sara started to lead us into a cave, but before we got far at all a dark shadow came over us, and we were quickly feeling a wave of hot air. Zorua, Floatzel, and Sara all looked up to see what was the cause for this. I was shocked at what I saw when I followed their lead.

Reshiram, a legendary dragon, and one of the legendary Pokemon that reside here at Mt Deckbi was now only feet over our heads. I didn't exactly know how to react, I was in shock that such a rare Pokemon was hovering over my head. It was strange, it didn't seem to want to attack us, it just seemed interested in us, but I didn't know why.

"Oh wow, this would be a great picture opportunity," I said, as I reached into my bag and pulled out my camera. A picture of a legendary Pokemon always brought in a decent amount of money, plus it was great to just the chance to take a picture of something so rare.

Eric took out a Digital Camera and snapped a picture of Reshiram, who simply cocked its head in response to the small burst of light from the flash. After another moment or two it seemed to have gotten its full of us, giving a shake and a cry before abruptly zooming off to wherever it had been going before stopping to study us. Kilia barked a farewell and Dagger grumbled under his breath, reaching down and grabbing Kili up before she could scamper off.

Once the Legend was out of sight, I clapped my hands together and gave a smile, facing Eric.

“Well, that certainly was a lucky encounter. You might not be able to catch a Legend, but how many people can claim having been so close to one of them? Either way, we can head into the mountain now, so let’s get moving.”

This time we made it into the cave without any incident. As soon as we were inside, Kilia opened her jaws and spat out globs of reddish-blue fire. Instead of dissipating like normal, the seven or so spheres rose into the air, following Kilia as she pranced about. They would last for a while before needing to be replenished, so she wouldn’t be expending too much energy to light our way.

The cave we were in was pretty bland as far as caves go. There were a few spikes of stone rising from the cave floor and rocks of varying sizes scattered about, but other than that there wasn’t much to look at. About two yards away there were two paths; one was a twisting tunnel that led back to the base of the mountain, and the other led to other caves and paths that branched throughout Mount Deckbi. We would be taking this one, as it steadily led further up the volcano instead of back down it.

With Kilia in the lead we headed down the tunnel on the right, ghostly bluish light chasing back the immediate darkness. We could see clearly for about three to four yards in all directions, but after that distance the gloom closed back in and hit everything from view. I wasn’t very worried; we’d see any danger before stumbling upon it, including any kind of Pokemon.

Of course, there’s always an exception to one’s beliefs. As we approached a cave that was coming up, I heard Dagger start to growl. He was looking up, and when I followed his gaze I saw what had alarmed him. A giant larvae was hanging from a thin silken cord about eight feet above us, its fuzzy white upper body almost glowing in the light of Kilia’s Will-o-Wisp. Five twisting red horns were arranged around its head, with one on either side and three on the top. Bright blue eyes stared at us as the Pokemon gently swayed back and forth.

“Wow, you’re getting pretty lucky with the rare encounters today,” I told Eric, watching the Larvesta for any signs of aggression. Though they were normally pretty easy-going and passive, there were times when they could feel threatened and become dangerous for people not prepared to fight them.

OOC: Deciding on what gender I want this, so I dunno yet

IC: Reshiram gave a quick glance in response to the flash of light from the camera, let out a loud cry, and just like that it took off at a tremendous speed. I had no idea what interest it had in us. Maybe it was just not use to seeing people all that often, but it didn't matter much to me either way, it was just a great thought that I had been able to see something so rare up close, and in person.

Once Reshiram was no longer in sight Sara clapped her hands, and smiled at me.

“Well, that certainly was a lucky encounter. You might not be able to catch a Legend, but how many people can claim having been so close to one of them? Either way, we can head into the mountain now, so let’s get moving," Sara said to me.

It was pretty true actually, its not everyday that reports of seeing a Legendary Pokemon are said, and even if they are not everyone has photographic proof of seeing one like I did. That was the thing I loved about visiting the park, you never knew what you might encounter, and what you might get the chance to battle. The mystery of the whole trip was what made it so enjoyable to me. Of course though thinking about this reminded me that I hadn't attempted to use my Litwick Voice Disc since I tried it right away when I got to Deckbi, but I wasn't going to bother using it right now. I was still caught up with running into Reshiram, and so by now Sara was already leading me into and through this cave, so I figured it might be best to try using it after my next encounter.

Once we were in the cave Absol was instructed to use its Will-o-Wisp to light the way for us. The attack stuck around Absol, rather than vanish. I always thought it was pretty cool seeing how a Pokemon can use their moves to do useful things besides battling.

I couldn't exactly tell how far ahead the light allowed us to see, but it was far enough where we would see something coming at us before they saw us, so I wasn't too worried about that. Still though I couldn't help but wonder what was next. It would certainly take something big to follow an encounter like Reshiram that was for sure. I was just hoping it wouldn't be another let down like Magby or something.

As we started moving further along the way Sara's Floatzel started to growl for some reason. I couldn't help but think that whatever it was growling at was going to be the next Pokemon I encountered. I happened to see what it was growling at, a Pokemon was hanging up in the air from a small thread, it was a white and brown, sort of furry Pokemon, with five horns, and blue eyes. This was a Larvesta, one of the rarest, and most sought out Pokemon at Mount Deckbi.

“Wow, you’re getting pretty lucky with the rare encounters today,” Sara said to me. She didn't even need to ask me if I wanted to battle this Larvesta or not, she just knew that I would want to, because in all honesty who in their right mind, unless they already owned one, wouldn't want to battle a Pokemon like this?

Of course, the question now was which Pokemon should I use? Starmie could handle Larvesta, but at the same time Larvesta's Bug half would be a bit troublesome for Starmie, and it hadn't been a long time since Starmie battled on this run. There was of course Aerodactyl, however with it being part Rock-type it would kind of destroy Larvesta in a matter of seconds due to Larvesta's four times weakness to Rock. This left just Ambipom, but what Ambipom really the best choice for facing Larvesta? Or would I maybe be better off scaring it with Aerodactyl and just using tactical moves such as Toxic, and just stalling it out? I didn't want to risk things, so rather than trying to scare it with Aerodactyl I was going to play this smart.

"You're up," I said, as I turned my attention to Ambipom, gave it a look, and motioned my head at Larvesta.

"Ambi-Ambi-Ambipom," Ambipom let out to signal it was ready for battle. Ambipom was a big situational battler, it was the sort of Pokemon I'd use when I knew its strength would be best for the situation at hand. In the past I used it vs Vanillite, and Porygon on different trips to the park, and it did a wonderful job those times. It was capable of controlling its strength so it'd hold back, but at the same time with its Technician ability it did a wonderful job at dealing damage with its weaker moves such as Fake Out, and Double Hit, two moves it was known for.

When I used Ambipom I always started out pretty predictable, I would just tell Ambipom to use Fake Out, so it didn't take much to figure out this was coming, and to ready yourself with Protect or something. Though, while Larvesta seemed calm, and relaxed, those calm and relaxed Pokemon were also usually the best at strategy when it came to battle. They could find ways to avoid you, and hurt you at the same exact time. I knew I couldn't use my typical tactics, it'd take new crazy ideas to get the job done.

"Alright Ambipom, start off with an Agility to confuse Larvesta with your speed, then hit it with a Fake Out," I told Ambipom in a calm voice. I usually did try to start every battle off nice, simple, and calmly.

Ambipom turned to me and nodded, understanding its commands.

This was a strategy I had never tried before, though I wanted to. For whatever reason Fake Out would only work at the start of a battle, though nothing about it said it would only work if it was the very first move used. By doing this I wanted Larvesta to become confused, and dizzy by watching Ambipom increase its speed, and run all over the place. Then once its made it so Larvesta has a hard time keeping up Ambipom would use the increased priority of Fake Out to strike Larvesta. Now, while I wasn't sure this would exactly work like I planned, it was certainly worth trying.

Ambipom kicked its feet at the ground for a few moments, and then just like that it took off and started to run around the cave. Agility was a unique move, the Pokemon using it would run around a bit, gaining speed as it ran, and increasing its speed by two stages. I found this fascinating, because the Pokemon using it would only need to run for a little bit, and then after doing so the increased speed would stick with the Pokemon, they wouldn't need to keep running to keep the speed.

Ambipom was running around the cave as best he could in this limited space, and once he gained enough speed he would be ready to hit Larvesta with Fake Out.

Fake Out was a pretty tactical, and interesting move. While it could only be used at the start of a battle, it wasn't the most powerful move, but its secondary effect was what made people want to use it. Fake Out would always make the opposing Pokemon flinch no matter what, the only exception is if if the Pokemon had an ability that blocks flinching, such as Inner Focus. Also, while Fake Out wasn't the most powerful move it was perfect for Ambipom, not only did Ambipom get a STAB boost from it, but it also boosted its power with Technician too. In terms of how Fake Out looked though it was a pretty bland move. The Pokemon using it would charge over at the opponent, throw their hands, in Ambipom's case tails, in the air, and would make them crash against the side of the opponents body or head. This would shake them up, and startle them which is why they would flinch.

Once Ambipom was done gaining speed, it turned its focus to Larvesta, jumped in the air slightly, and instantly sprinted towards Larvesta. I was curious to see if Larvesta was ready for what I threw at it. This was only the start of the battle so going at a slow and steady pace was my style, but I was certainly looking forward to seeing how Larvesta would battle.

OOC: Yeah, so uhh it just says Fake Out will only work on the first turn of a battle, nothing about it being the first move, so I just sort of assumed in the park it'd work still if used on turn one, even if its not the first move. Guess I'll find out soon how you judge it though.

Eric was quick to take the opportunity of battling and possible catching Larvesta, giving Ambipom a simple combo to start the battle with. He first commanded the lavender-furred primate to use Agility in an effort to confound Larvesta, then go in for a strike with Fake Out. It was a somewhat unorthodox way of opening a battle, but one that might work nonetheless. With his enhanced speed, Ambipom might be able to surprise Larvesta enough so that when he attacked, the desire affect would be achieved.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t very much room to maneuver the in the cramped tunnel, so Ambipom had to dash around for longer than it normally would to build up his speed. While the monkey way building up his momentum, Larvesta tried to keep him in sight but was soon unable to. Instead of becoming flustered, though, the larvae instead started to spit a milky, liquid substance onto the rocky floor of the tunnel. Some of it splashed onto the walls as well, and Kilia had to dance out of the way to avoid being struck by it herself.

And then, just as Ambipom made his effort at Fake Out, Larvesta finished its String Shot move by shooting a final wad of sticky silk right into the spot Amibpom jumped from. His left paw caught in the gooey material, Ambipom was somewhat slowed down and momentarily caught off-guard. By the same stroke of luck Larvesta had just experienced, though, Ambipom’s tails were carried upwards by his speed; one smacked Larvesta straight in the face, while the other caught a glancing blow to the fiery insect’s rear. This was enough to snap the thread holding it airborne, causing to all to the ground with a thump. Ambipom himself landed awkwardly, nearly stepping in more sticky webbing and barely staying on his feet. He rubbed his silk-coated foot against the ground in an effort to scrape it off, but it was stuck firm. It was a good thing he’d managed to work his Agility in earlier, as the String Shot would hamper his ability to move quickly and could have otherwise proved to be a much bigger problem.

As Ambipom was trying to get rid of the String Shot on his foot, Larvesta slowly regained its wits and shook its head. When it noticed that Ambipom was distracted, the Pokemon decided now would be a good time to protect itself from future attacks. Tensing its body, Larvesta tightened the muscles throughout its small frame; with its muscles firmer, Larvesta could reduce the amount of shock absorbed into its body and thus lower any damage from physical attacks. With its Harden in place, Larvesta decided it was a good moment to try for a little payback.

Rearing back for a moment, the larvae threw itself towards Ambipom with an amazing leap, a burst of white energy enveloping its body. It was using a Double-Edge attack, one that would inflict a considerable amount of damage on Ambipom if it hit. It would also redirect energy back at Larvesta because of the force with which it would collide with its foe, but thanks to its Harden, the damage it received would be less than normal.

OOC: Female, and this post was a lot shorter than I wanted it to be

IC: Larvesta had a keen eye, it was keeping track of what Ambipom was doing. The Agility didn't seem to be confusing it much at all, though it was possibly making it rather dizzy, because rather than wait for Ambipom to make a move after Agility, it fired out a String Shot in different directions, which in turn caught a lot of various parts of the cave with its sticky web. This could have been very dangerous for Ambipom, had it not been careful when using Agility, or Fake Out, it could have easily been caught by one of the strings, thus halting its movement, and make it a sitting duck. Though Ambipom wasn't the kind to just sit there and allow the opponent to do whatever they wanted to it. It was still able to avoid a good deal of the strings, and land its Fake Out on Larvesta. The attack hit Larvesta both in the face, and its backside. It was so powerful that it actually cause the thread Larvesta was hanging by to snap, and it made Larvesta and Ambipom both crash into the ground, causing Larvesta to become shaken up, and Ambipom seemingly avoided any harm from the fall.

Unfortunately though Ambipom's left paw was caught by the String Shot, and when it came crashing to the ground it nearly stepped into even more of it, which would have greatly harmed Ambipom's speed. Ambipom needed to spend some time trying to get the String Shot off of it so it could continue to move at the full speed that it worked to get, but this however was not good for Ambipom. It gave Larvesta a great chance to collect its wits, and notice Ambipom was distracted long enough for it to perform a move itself. It begun to become tense, tightening its body, without increasing its muscles. It used Harden to raise its defensive capabilities, making itself prone to take less damage from Physical attacks. I doubt Larvesta knew this off the top of its head, but what it was doing was actually really smart. Ambipom didn't have many Special attacks, it was more of a Physical attacker, so now Larvesta could withstand a lot more of Ambipom's moves. If nothing else this Larvesta at least knew how to battle, it was smart enough to boost its defenses so it could focus on attacking I assumed.

Larvesta wasn't finished yet though, it pulled its body back a little, and propelled itself at Ambipom with a tremendous force. White energy started to surround its body, this showed it was using a Double-Edge. This was a very powerful attack, though it didn't go unpunished, the Pokemon that used it would suffer some of the damage it dealt as recoil. Though, with Larvesta using Harden before this, there was a pretty good chance the damage it felt as recoil would be considerable lower. I liked how Larvesta though, I was always a fan of Pokemon who'd use their mind in battle, and therefore I knew I had to have this Larvesta.

I had to act relatively quick, Ambipom was in a bad situation, it had one of its paws stuck still, so it couldn't run really, nor was it very good for close range combat, not with Larvesta baring down on it anyway. I did have one idea in mind, though there was no telling if it would actually work or not, but still I had to at least try.

"Okay Ambipom, you did a great job with that last combo, but now we need to try a different one. Use a Sand Attack, followed up be a Swift!" I yelled to Ambipom. It had done the combo of Agility, and Fake Out perfectly, I just hadn't been expecting on String Attack coming into play, and making a twist in the battle. I wasn't too worried yet though, while its true that String Attack does reduce your speed, it had happened after Ambipom already boosted its speed, so it was still faster than it was at the start of the battle.

This combo I told Ambipom now was a bit different to work with, I was hoping that by having Ambipom use Sand-Attack it could kick some of the dirt, and gravel from the cave ground into Larvesta's eyes, temporarily blinding it, or at the very least distracting it, causing it to possibly swerve off course, and only partly hit Ambipom. Then I wanted it to follow up with Swift, because that was an attack Ambipom could use from a distance, and if it did successful take away Larvesta's sight for a few moments, I'd rather Ambipom attack from a distance to avoid possibly being hit. Even if Larvesta had a bit of trouble seeing, it could still probably see Ambipom up close, and get a hit in on it, but from a distance Ambipom would have a good chance to dodge attacks.

Ambipom nodded at me, and got its right paw ready to use Sand-Attack once Larvesta got close. It also started to inhale a little bit, getting the Swift attack ready as well in case it saw a good opportunity to strike.

Sand-Attack was exactly how its name sounded, the Pokemon using it would kick, or fling some sand, or dirt from the ground at the opposing Pokemon, making them slightly confused, and causing their accuracy to go down some, and in some rare cases even temporarily blinding the Pokemon. It was strategical if your Pokemon were into dodging attacks, and then striking. This attack was commonly seen being used by Ground-type Pokemon, and in some cases Flying-type, though some other Pokemon could learn it as long as they had legs such as Ambipom. There was of course no guarantee that the cave ground could easily be kicked up, between the String Shot everywhere, and Ambipom more or less working on one leg right now, but still it was at least worth trying if it could help to protect Ambipom a little bit.

After this was suppose to come a Swift attack. Swift was an interesting looking attack, the user would inhale a deep breath, and exhale some gold, and silver colored stars at the opponent. Swift was one of the few Special attacks that Ambipom could learn, and while Ambipom was far from the greatest Special attacker, this was the best move to use right now. Larvesta increased its defense, and Ambipom would receive both STAB, and a boost from Technician, making Swift a powerful enough attack to cause some damage. This, combined with the fact that Swift can be used from a distance made it the best option right now, because with one paw unable to be used currently close combat was no an option.

Ambipom was standing firm in its place, waiting for Larvesta to strike. This Larvesta was clearly a crafty one though, using String Shot as a chance to not only boost its defense, but attempt to get an attack in too. I knew I'd need to be on my toes throughout this whole battle, because one wrong move, and Larvesta would easily gain the upper hand.

I don’t think I would have ever expected someone to try and use Sand Attack while in a cave, since most of them don’t have any loose dirt or anything for the attack to make use of. In this case there were really only small pebbles and the occasional patch of powdered rock from some heavy Pokemon or another moving through and crushing up smaller stones. Fortune must have been smiling on Eric; while most of these patches were covered in the quickly-hardening silk from Larvesta’s earlier String Shot, there was one that had escaped the assault. Ambipom happened to be next to it and used his tails to fling it at the incoming Larvesta.

The fine powder, unlike real sand, didn’t have very much weight to it and therefore most of it just sort of hung in the air before falling gently towards the ground, but it succeeded in making a cloud that would obscure Larvesta’s vision for a moment. Bits of metal in the powder caught the light from Kilia’s Will-o-Wisp, and the resulting glare dazzled Larvesta’s dark-attuned eyes. She made a sort of squealing noise and ducked her head to protect her eyes from the harsh light reflecting from the metal particles, her horns aimed towards the floor instead of Ambipom.

Since she was already airborne, though, there was no way for her to change her trajectory, and therefore she wasn’t forced to veer off-course like Eric had most likely wanted. Still, her Double-Edge would hurt much less if landed without the use of those sharp, hard horns, and hit it did. Not, however, before Ambipom inhaled and breathed out energy in the shape of stars; a Swift attack, probably a good idea what with the glittering dust cloud that would most likely hamper the vision of both battlers until it cleared. The energy used in a Swift attack was drawn towards the target; even if the user aimed in a completely opposite direction of their foe, it would still find the enemy by tracking their own unique energy patterns. It was a very complicated move most people didn’t understand the full mechanics of, but you didn’t need to know the exact science of how it worked to make the most use of it.

The Swift hit Larvesta’s curled back, taking away a bit of her momentum seconds before she crashed into her larger opponent. Just as Ambipom’s attack hit her. Larvesta let out a shrill buzzing noise. Most others might think she was hurt or scared, but it was actually a scare tactic used by many Bugs to try and startle attackers. She was using a super-loud Bug Buzz, one made more effective by the close proximity of stone walls to let the sound reverberate. Kilia shifted, looking uncomfortable by the sound, and Kili whined as she covered her ears with her paws; Dark Pokemon, having a weakness to Bug attacks, were especially sensitive to the grating noise this particular move.

Larvesta and Ambipom both tumbled to the ground after Larvesta’s Double-Edge, and when she hit the ground Larvesta’s Bug Buzz came to an abrupt stop. She landed on her back and wiggled for a moment before righting herself, facing Ambipom as he, too, got to his feet. She seemed to be taking a moment to regain her senses after her attack; despite her increased Defense, she had struck Ambipom with the softer lower half of her body instead of her powerful horns, and it seemed to have taken a bit more from her than expected. Still, she seemed hardy, so Eric had to think fast before she got herself back in the game.

OOC: I'm gonna try to hammer this out in another two or so posts hopefully.

This last exchange of moves was a really unusually one. Ambipom's Sand-Attack worked despite not having the easiest of ground to kick up. The move made a small cloud of dust which blocked Larvesta's sight to the point where it still didn't lose its course with Ambipom due to being in midair, but it wouldn't have it sight able to be fully on Ambipom, and so if its Double-Edge hit it should by all means have done slightly less damage than it probably should have. As I figured too the dust from the move didn't interfere with Swift working. Swift was a unique attack that had a pretty much impossible time missing, because it would hone in on a Pokemon's energy, the only way to make it really miss was to do something like hide behind a rock.

However once Ambipom used Swift, Larvesta begun letting out a very shrill sound, a sound that was really painful on the ears.

"Ah, what is that?" I said as I was covering my ears, trying my hardest to avoid hearing any noise. The sound had been vibrating all over the cave, the walls around had been making the noise bounce all around. The only moves that could be making a noise like this are Screech, or Bug Buzz, and since this was Larvesta using it it was no doubt Bug Buzz. I had never seen Bug Buzz used this way, it was being used to try to hold Ambipom in place so Double-Edge would hit, due to the dust being in Larvesta's face keeping it from getting a clear focus on Ambipom. Well Larvesta's plan was working effectively, the sound was so crippling it was causing Ambipom to hold still, and took on the Double-Edge. Though it was Larvesta's softer side was the part that hit Ambipom, and caused both Pokemon to come crashing down into the ground, and it did manage to hurt the little monkey Pokemon.

"You feeling alright Ambipom? Or would you like to switch out?" I asked.

It got back to its feet, turned to me, and grinned. I knew Ambipom wouldn't be so quick to ditch a battle just because it felt some pain. Though despite Ambipom's feelings towards a battle, if things got too bad out there I would not hesitate to switch it out. Though with the battle looking how it was currently Ambipom was still my best choice for battling. Starmie would be dealt with, and Aerodactyl would be too powerful. If anything this current situation reminded me of how the battle between Starmie, and Darumaka looked. Starmie was throwing everything it could at Darumaka besides the kitchen sink, and Darumaka was able to handle everything. Starmie nails it with Bubblebeam, and Darumaka is ready with Rollout. Starmie hits a Hydro Pump, and Darumaka counters with a Will-o-Wisp. Starmie tries to Waterfall, and Darumaka Yawns it. The only reason Starmie was even able to gain an upperhand was because Darumaka trapped itself underground. I didn't see Larvesta doing something similar like trapping itself in a corner, though, so there wouldn't be an opening for Ambipom. The only thing I could really do was try to outmaneuver it, and avoid anymore troublesome moves such as String Shot, and Harden.

The real question now was though what should I do next? Should I have Ambipom attack Larvesta yet again, or should I just have Ambipom use a move to weaken Larvesta in a different sort of way? The battle was still kind of far from over, so in the long run it might have been better to have Ambipom use a non-attacking move, this way Larvesta could be made a bit easier to capture later on.

"Okay, Ambipom, next use a Thunder Wave, and then follow that up with a Tickle!" I yelled to Ambipom who understood. That was the great thing with Ambipom, it wasn't too picky with what moves it was told to use, it was happy to be battling. That's what made me and Ambipom such great partners, because this gave me a chance to try out a bunch of different combos with it.

Ambipom got into place, and it started to form a small blue ball of energy from its little arms. Ambipom had a unique way of doing Thunder Wave. It would form this little ball, and then it would toss it up in the air a little, and smack it at the opponent. This was how I trained Ambipom, because a Thunder Wave just by itself was rather easy to avoid, but by doing it this way the ball of energy would come towards the Pokemon, and at some point it would just explode, releasing the stored electrical waves from inside. This made the move much more unpredictable, which was my way of battling. I can think of a number of times when I had Ambipom be so unpredictable, including in past runs when it use Thunder Wave the same way it is now to halt an Aron's, a Vanillite's, as well as a Porygon's actions. Now, that didn't mean this would work perfectly on Larvesta just because it worked in the past, but I also wasn't the type to not have hope.

There were three benefits behind using Thunder Wave; the first was of course just making the Pokemon paralyzed. This gave the opposing Pokemon a chance to be fully paralyzed, and unable to attack. While no one would ever really admit using Thunder Wave for this reason, it was a pretty big reason for using it. Especially if you used a Pokemon with a move that could flinch, such as using a Togekiss with Air Slash, and Serene Grace by its side. The second one was because it would greatly reduce any Pokemon's speed that it hit. This was the most common reason this move was used, if a somewhat slow Pokemon used it against a faster Pokemon the slower Pokemon would gain the edge on speed, while this was a pretty great reason to use it this was not why Ambipom was using it, it was already faster than Larvesta, and to top things off Ambipom had already boosted its speed, so there was no need to slow down Larvesta. The third, and final reason was one you only saw in battles with wild Pokemon, not ones between trainers. It was because it made Pokemon easier to capture. The added pressure from the par would make a Pokemon have a harder time to struggle escaping a ball, though while this didn't confirm a capture, it did always help. Thunder Wave was nothing short of a great strategy move no matter how it was used.

After Thunder Wave was to come Tickle, another strategical move. The Pokemon using it, would literally run over to the opposing Pokemon, and would tickle their sides. The benefit of using this move was that it would reduce both the opponents Attack, and Defense by one stage a piece. If this worked it would mean Larvesta's Physical attacks would become weaker, and the boost it got from Harden would be gone, meaning Ambipom could use any Physical attack to its fullest again.

Of course I could have probably been going kinda crazy, I mean I honestly didn't think Larvesta would sit still and be hit by both Thunder Wave, and Tickle, but I would have been happy had either one hit. It's just that right now I didn't want to take the chance of attacking Larvesta until I knew what it would be planning next, or until I at least had a little bit of time to think which attack would be best to use. I mean I didn't want to have Ambipom use an attack so powerful that it knocked Larvesta out, and at the same time I didn't want it using an attack so weak that Larvesta would just shrug the damage off.

Ambipom finished creating its little ball of energy, and set its sights on Larvesta, who had still just been sitting there, no doubt watching to see what Ambipom was up to. I liked that, it proved Larvesta was a thinker, and took advantage of a situation if an opening arrived. If I had less confidence in Ambipom I would be worried, but I wasn't. Ambipom has proven to me time, and time again that it knows what to do, and it can withstand taking some hits. With the remains of String Shot still around in the cave things could get a little tricky, but I guess only time would show if that makes a major factor or not.

Ambipom threw the ball in the air, and smacked it directly at Larvesta. Without wasting any time it started to race right behind the attack, either to try to Tickle Larvesta if it hit, or to follow Larvesta if it moved to Tickle it right after. That's what made Ambipom such a great Pokemon, it would use one move, and then be ready right away to use the next one. I was curious to see how Larvesta would respond, if it could manage to avoid one of these two moves, it surely couldn't avoid both right? Or maybe it couldn't avoid either, but either way I was about to find out.

I had to say, Eric seemed to be doing better with this battle than he had done against Darumaka. I wasn’t sure if maybe he’d just gotten off to a bad start or what that had been about, but here he was using some pretty good tricks to get Larvesta where he wanted it in order to catch it. Larvesta might have been keeping its cool and reacting intelligently so far, but I had no doubt this would end with her capture.

Ambipom, on Eric’s orders, formed a blue sphere of weak electrical energy, which he tossed into the air and smashed with his tail. The orb flew straight towards Larvesta, and Ambipom was hot on the heels of his attack. His tails curved over his head, the three flexible tips of each splayed and slightly curled. Thanks to the String Shot on the ground he had to dodge here and there to avoid them, which prevented him from building too much speed.

Larvesta wasn’t simply just sitting there waiting to be attacked, though. As Ambipom had readied his Thunder Wave, she had slowly crawled to an area where Kilia’s Will-o-Wisp was shining the most light. She had then hunkered down and fluffed up the white fuzz covering the upper part of her body. By doing this she was absorbing heat from the orbs of fire, and that heat was then transferred from the hair to her body. Being part Fire, the heat would be used to heal minor injuries and restore a bit of her energy. I couldn’t deny that I was surprised; Larvesta couldn’t learn Morning Sun except through having it passed on to them from their father, and even then it really only did any good for a Pokemon who spent a lot of time out in the sunlight. But here this little Pokemon was, improvising with a move she most likely never used enough to really understand how to use it to its full potential.

Unfortunately, Larvesta didn’t really have time to gain back a lot of health. Even though it had moved out of the path of the Thunder Wave for the most part, the orb suddenly exploded and released a pulse of electricity. While it wasn’t enough to inflict full paralysis, it was enough to cause Larvesta’s muscles to seize up temporarily as the wave reached her. Thanks to this, she had no way to evade or counter Ambipom when he reached her and instantly set to skittering the tips of his tails over Larvesta’s rigid body.

Larvesta at first could only respond with a sort of stuttering “reeeeet” sound, but a few moments later she regained mobility. She started to twist and curl, at first too distracted by Ambipom’s Tickle to realize she could attack again. However, it was only a few seconds later before she started to convulse violently, throwing herself around haphazardly. At one point she threw her head up and caught Ambipom in the belly with two of her horns, knocking him away with her Thrashing.

Thankfully, Ambipom’s Tickle had made Larvesta’s attack weaker thanks to reducing her strength a bit. Still, those horns were sharp and hard, and taking blow like that had winded the lavender-furred primate as well as doing a fair bit of damage. Still, it could have been a lot worse if Larvesta’s attack had been at full strength.

Now the larvae was flailing about indiscriminately, bashing her horns into the cave wall and scraping her claws on the rocky ground, taking a bit of damage as she lashed out. She rolled back and forth, going over tiny sharp rocks and occasionally hitting a String Shot-free patch of powdered rock, filling the air with more fine dust as she did. I shot Dagger a look and he just shrugged, keeping a firm hold on Kili lest she grow too curious and get herself in the path of danger.

“Be careful, Eric,” I told the young man, turning my gaze back to Larvesta. “She’s going to be doing that for a few minute, though it’s weird that she’d suddenly use a move like that when she’s been so levelheaded throughout the entire battle up until now…”

As Ambipom fired off its Thunder Wave, Larvesta crawled its way over to an area where an orb from Will-o-Wisp was brightly shinning. It was just standing there, more or less motionless, the only movement it really did with to put the white fuzzy half of its body directly in the lights view. I couldn't help but wonder what exactly was Lavresta doing; was this just a tactical decoy? Was Larvesta planning some sort of attack. Was it trying to use the light in some way? Or did it just happen to lose its mind? Sometimes the actions of Pokemon really confused me, and this was definitely one of those times. Larvesta was doing something, but I didn't know what, and if I hadn't given Ambipom some pretty specific commands that it was following, it would have driven me nuts.

Larvesta did manage to move itself out of the way of the ball of the Thunder Wave, but it couldn't entirely avoid it, and so when it exploded some of the waves from inside did manage to hit the bug, causing it to become like it was paralyzed for a few moments. Because of this it had no way to avoid what Ambipom was doing next. Ambipom used the tips of its tails like fingers to tickle Larvesta all over from top to bottom, and on its sides.

Larvesta couldn't help but let out some noise I couldn't understand, but if I had to guess it was either like a laugh due to the tickling, or a cry of pain from being tickled so much that it actually hurt. Either way Tickle seemed to be doing its job on Larvesta, weakening the creature. While Ambipom was continuing to use Tickle though, Larvesta had become able to start attacking again. It was only mere moments later that Larvesta violently begun to throw its body around like it didn't care. It was as if it didn't care anymore what its fate was, it just wanted to beat Ambipom. At some point during this time Larvesta headbutted Ambipom right in its stomach, causing two of its horns to jab it. If Ambipom had been weaker at this time it could have very well been stabbed by, or somewhat impaled by its horns.

Ambipom couldn't help but hold its stomach, and roll around on the ground for a few moments. Even if Larvesta had its attack reduced, its horns were still sharp, and painful, and Ambipom was going to be in a world of hurt for a few minutes. But I would be too if I just had my stomach hit by sharp horns.

Even though Ambipom was hit, Larvesta was going kind of crazy. It was bashing its horns against the cave walls, it clawed at the ground. It started rolling all over the ground, rolling back and forth on rocks, and making dust rise up into the air. I thought it really did lose its mind. Maybe Ambipom hit it one too many times in its head. Or maybe this just had something to do with Larvesta's last attack.

“Be careful, Eric,” Sara told me. “She’s going to be doing that for a few minutes, though it’s weird that she’d suddenly use a move like that when she’s been so levelheaded throughout the entire battle up until now…” She too thought this was weird. It was weird because now Larvesta was acting so uncharacteristically compared to how it had been acting throughout this battle.

"Yeah, well I have that way with people, and Pokemon, I make them go crazy," I said to Sara chuckling. Though this really was no laughing matter, Ambipom couldn't get too close or Larvesta would no doubt get it with some more damage, but at the same time Ambipom only had a few distance moves such as Swift, which Larvesta already saw, or Seed Bomb, which would not only be useless vs Larvesta, but it'd be useless here too, because there was no soft enough ground to kick them on.

"Guess my only hope really is close combat at this point," I said to myself. "Okay Ambipom, your body is still probably relatively fresh with electricity from Thunder Wave, so that means using this won't be too hard. Use ThunderPunch Ambipom!" I commanded the monkey, who seemed more than glad to do so.

Due to only using Thunder Wave, Ambipom's body was use to having the feeling electricity flowing through it, so now Ambipom wouldn't have to work long at all to charge up the attack. Ambipom threw its right tail behind its head, and made it into a fist as best it could. While most Pokemon would use a punching type attack with their hands, Ambipom was trained to use them with its tails, because due to being larger in size they would cause a bigger impact than its tiny arms.

Electricity started to surge now in Ambipom's tail, and it started to turn a bright shade of yellow, with mini waves of electrical power circulating all around the "fist" of the tail. ThunderPunch was a move similar to how it sounded. An aura similar to the one from the move Thunder would move around the users fist, and then the would charge over to the opponent, look for an opening, whether it was the head or the body, and punch the opposing releasing any stored up electricity in the punch, and causing to flow all around the Pokemon's body.

ThunderPunch was great, because maybe if I was lucky, this added with the partial paralyzing from Thunder Wave, Larvesta would become fully paralyzed. While that would have been great, because it might have protect Ambipom from Lavesta's outburst, it wasn't my true aim right now. All I was trying to do was weaken Larvesta a little more. It still had a tiny while of time before it was capturable, and I was just trying to calmly taking the battle one step at a time. I was just hoping that using a close combat move like this one wouldn't backfire on me because of Larvesta's current mood. One thing was for sure though, whether it was Ambipom, or Larvesta, neither Pokemon was going to hold back, and wasn't going to quit until the other was down for the count.

I smiled a little at Eric’s comment about driving people and Pokemon crazy but didn’t let it distract me from the battle going on. Things were getting a little dangerous here with Larvesta’s Thrashing; the Pokemon was gripped by temporary madness as it bucked about left and right. If things got too bad I’d have to step in until they calmed down a bit, so for now I was more focused on the Pokemon battling than anything Eric was saying.

That’s not to say I was ignoring him, though, and heard him talking to himself as he tried to decide what to do next. Ambipom weren’t very good at using Special attacks, but other than Seed Bomb, all the long-range moves they could use were Special. Seed Bomb wasn’t the most practical move to use on a Pokemon that was times-four resistant to Grass moves, though, and eventually Eric decided on Thunderpunch as the move of choice. It was a risky choice, but probably one of the best things for Ambipom to do at the moment. With any luck, Larvesta would be paralyzed by the abundance of electricity passed to her by the attack; not only would it make her easier to catch, but it could also prevent her from doing more damage to both Ambipom or herself.

Ambipom charged at Larvesta after preparing his attack, not flinching away even when the fiery larvae whipped around toward him. She wasn’t aiming for him, but it was bad luck for Ambipom all the same. The lavender-furred Pokemon was forced to swerve in an ungainly manner to avoid getting gored, nearly stepping in a mound of String Shot. Only by dumb luck did he manage to stumble a few inches to the left of it, barely missing it and taking himself out of range of Larvesta’s mad flailing.

Not wasting a moment, Ambipom made use of his off-balance momentum and threw himself at Larvesta, his tail whipping around and catching a solid blow on her left side. Larvesta made a loud screeching noise as the attack struck, and instinct kicked in as she stopped Thrashing and curled her body, reeling away from Ambipom. At the same time she was drawing herself together, though, Ambipom’s lunge carried him into a head-on collision. His forehead smacked into Larvesta’s horns as she tucked her head in close to her stomach; thankfully, he didn’t hit the sharp points, but rather the blunt fronts of the three adorning the top of Larvesta’s skull. All the same. Ambipom lay stunned for a moment after the impact before getting to his feet and taking a few stumbling steps away from Larvesta.

Who was now silent and curled on the cave floor, looking like a really big dead larvae. At first I thought she might have been knocked out or possibly injured, but then I noticed a very faint field of crackling blue-yellow electricity dancing over the Pokemon’s body. By some miracle, Ambipom’s Thunderpunch had not only inflicted true paralysis on Larvesta this time, but the Bug’s muscles were seized up because of the electricity coursing through her body. It was a good thing, too; too much more Thrashing and Larvesta would have either knocked Ambipom her herself out.

“Looks like this is about over,” I commented to no one in particular. “Larvesta doesn’t have much fight left in her after that Thunderpunch, and now she has to deal with being Paralyzed on top of it.”

OOC: Let's hope for the best

IC: This last exchange was far from a pretty sight. Ambipom hit Larvesta on its left side, causing the Bug-type to let out a very loud screech, signaling it was in a lot of pain. I didn't think that Thunderpunch would have packed that much of an impact, but then again this could have just been due to the fact that Larvesta was already weak, either way though worked. This was both good, and bad. It was good because Ambipom got a great shot in on Larvesta weakening it, but it was also bad because his own momentum sent him flying right into Larvesta's horns. While he may not have hit the sharp points of the horns, Ambipom was still hit by them, and he was on the ground for a few moments, before getting back up and trying to shake the damage off. Ambipom was fine, or at least okay enough to the point where it could keep fighting. How was Larvesta though? I had to wonder, I mean it didn't look like it willingly attacked Ambipom, but was rather just trying to protect itself, and nurse its own wounds. No matter what though you could see Larvesta had either lost the desire to fight due to injuries, and just wanted it to end, or it was just too distracted by the pain to mount an offense.

I looked over at Larvesta, and at first I was a little worried. It hadn't been moving at all; I feared that Ambipom had used too much power, and knocked it out. Though within a few moments I noticed some electricity sparking around Larvesta's body. This meant two things, one Larvesta wasn't knocked out, because a knocked out Pokemon shows no signs like that, it just lays there, and two, Ambipom had managed to score paralysis on Larvesta. This was great news, because now Larvesta would not only be easier to capture, but because it also managed to stop its Thrash attack too, and that was good for Ambipom.

“Looks like this is about over. Larvesta doesn’t have much fight left in her after that Thunderpunch, and now she has to deal with being Paralyzed on top of it," Sara said. She was probably right I felt, but still this Larvesta gave me a lot of trouble, so it was possible that it could still break free of whatever ball I threw at it. Now wasn't the time for doubts though, because even if I attacked Larvesta again it could easily be too much at this point, and I'd render it unable to be caught. I needed to risk it, and just toss a ball.

"You did great Ambipom, now you sit back and rest a little, and I'll handle the rest of this," I said, as I patted Ambipom on the head. He had done a great job, but now the rest of this was all up to. Larvesta was still on the ground, having a hard time trying to move. Now was the best chance I had at a capture attempt. I quickly took off my backpack, and threw it to the ground. I then started to rummage through it, passing by a lot of various items as I looked for a ball.

"Ah there's one," I said as I pulled out an unused Park Ball. In theory a Park Ball could very well capture Larvesta, because it didn't evolve from anything, but still Larvesta was a pretty hard Pokemon to capture, so I needed to do everything possible to make a capture likely. "No this won't do, I'll need to swap it from something different. Let's use this instead," I said now, as I took out a Hyper Ball. By using a Hyper Ball instead of a regular Park Ball the chance of catching Larvesta would slightly increase, even if it was only a one percent increase it was better than nothing, and I was more than happy to take that bonus.

I set my sights on Larvesta, kissed the Hyper Ball, and said "come on baby, work please." And with this I threw the empty ball at Larvesta, crossed my fingers, and hoped for the best. Larvesta put up an incredibly tough fight, and made me try new things with Ambipom to battle it. It pushed Ambipom's limits far, and managed to deal some very high damage to the purple monkey. This was a battle I knew I wouldn't easily forget, and there was one thing I knew, I wanted to have this Larvesta, because it would not only be a powerful addition to my collection of Pokemon, but it would become a good friend too.

"Let's see how this one ends..."

OOC: Sorry I didn't get this up for you yesterday like I said I would, I had to go shopping and didn't get home till around 5 (like 3 hours after I usually go to bed lol). I was going to post earlier today but then I got sidetracked by an application that took like THREE FREAKING HOURS to fill out @[email protected], here's da posteh ^^.

Eric threw a Hyper Ball at Larvesta while she was gripped by paralysis; the orb smacked against her side and popped open, letting out a flood of red light that engulfed the larvae. It then broke her physical form down to a form of energy, which was then drawn into the orb. After this it clicked shut and fell to the ground, where it rocked for a few seconds before falling still.

    Larvesta was captured.

I smiled a little and walked to the Hyper Ball, bending down to retrieve it as Dagger let Kili down. The little fox flounced over to Kilia, barking excitedly at her and hopping in erratic circles. Kilia, always the somewhat…eccentric…one, started to bounce around as well, acting as silly and puppyish as Kili was. She yipped and waved her blade-like tail merrily through the air, causing Dagger to shake his head and grumble a little. I chuckled and faced Eric as I added Larvesta’s Ball to Darumaka’s.

“Good job. It’s nice to see when people can catch some things they’re interested in. I remember one time I led this older collector through the Park. He was so obsessed with finding things like Ninetales, Arcanine, and Volcarona…the only thing he encountered the whole time was a slew of Geodude, Sandshrew, and Magby. I felt kind of bad for him. By the time it was over he was so dejected that I couldn’t help but refer him to the special adoption center we’re partnered with. Normally only breeders or specially trained individuals get the referrals for that place, but during the run I’d learned the old guy was more than qualified to care for some of the rarer, more exotic Pokemon. You shoulda seen his face when I gave recommendation for him to get a Volcarona. I thought he was gonna kiss me, which was why I stayed well out of his reach until he was gone.”

I chuckled a little at the memory of the collector, then waved a hand at nothing in particular to encompass the whole of the mountain we were in.

“You, however, will most certainly not need a referral to an adoption center to get some choice Pokemon. You’ve got two promising ones already, and the best thing is you still have a good number of encounters left to find something else nice to round out your captures. I suppose the important question now is if you want to keep checking out the cave system or if you want to head back out onto the exterior path.”

Larvesta had been captured, and then Sara began to ramble on about some story of capturing rare Pokemon, and some old man.

I laughed a little and said, "well, that was a pretty amusing story, especially since I ran into a Magby, and Sandslash on this run. But hey, don't worry, just cause I caught a Larvesta it doesn't mean I'll come near you, so no need to worry about me." After telling this to Sara, I went over to check up on Ambipom.

"Hey, you doing okay?" I asked, and Ambipom replied, but sounded a bit weak. "Heh, you did wonderful, but you're weak now, so why don't you spend some time resting in your ball," I said as I returned Ambipom to its Pokeball.

“You, however, will most certainly not need a referral to an adoption center to get some choice Pokemon. You’ve got two promising ones already, and the best thing is you still have a good number of encounters left to find something else nice to round out your captures. I suppose the important question now is if you want to keep checking out the cave system or if you want to head back out onto the exterior path,” Sara told me.

"I don't really mind either way, see I'm not all that picky, plus I have trouble on deciding things. So, if its alright with you I'd like to leave the decision of what we do next up to you, because no matter what I'm sure we'll find Pokemon either way."

I nodded and waved to the others, motioning for them to follow me. Kilia took the lead, lighting our way with her ghostly Will-o-Wisp. The eerie light pointed out pitfalls and other dangers I was familiar with, as we as a startling new one that would NOT have been fun to find out about any other way.

A huge fissure had split open down the middle of the wide tunnel we were currently in, leaving only four or so feet of space on either side of the rift. I could hear a metallic scuttling coming from the chasm; closely approaching the edge of the rend, I peered inside and saw dozens of large gray bodies hurriedly scurrying back and forth. Recently, the Durant population that had somehow ended up in the Botanic Garden had been moved back to their natural habitat, and despite the threat of their natural predators Heatmor, the steel ants seemed quite happy to be back in familiar territory. They’d been busy building new nests and tunnels, and it seemed like a large colony had chosen this giant tear in the ground as the starting point of a new nest. The fissure itself had most likely been created by an Onix or Steelix that had surfaced here.

I watched as the Durant busily carried large chunks of rock to the top of the rift, which they secured in place by chewing the edges of the boulders until their saliva turned the powdery stone into a sort of glue. It was important they get the gaping gash in the ground sealed fast, before any Heatmor discovered the new colony. They were working quickly, though, and I had no doubt they’d be done soon. One looked up at me and clicked its oversized mandibles, but other than that they didn’t seem at all bothered by my presence.

I moved from the rift and we cautiously moved our way around it; I would be lying if I said I wasn’t relieved when we were clear of it. As soon as the Durant finished repairing the hole it would be safe to walk over, as the glue made by their rock-chewing was one of the strongest, durable materials in the natural world. I glanced back and saw a few of the large metal ants poking their heads out of the hole, watching us leave for a moment before getting back to their task.

I was getting ready to comment on the whole episode when I heard a faint snarl in front of us to the left. Kilia instantly turned to face that location, pumping more energy into her Will-o-Wisp to make it stronger and brighter. About three yards away I saw the source of the noise; a Garchomp, and a young one at that. Only about three-quarters the size of a fully-grown Garchomp, the navy-scaled landshark was glaring at us and swinging its tail through the air menacingly. Its thick, broad snout was partially open as a growl rumbled from its throat, and the single giant claws on each paw were raised in a threatening manner. For whatever reason, the Pokemon was in an obviously aggressive mood. Whether it was defending food, territory, a mate, or something else wasn’t clear, but it was conveying a clear message that we should move on.

I glanced at Eric, then back at the Garchomp. There wasn’t any physical indication that it was protecting something, so my bet was that it was either just in a bad mood, or wanted us to leave its personal patch of the mountain. Either way, an angry Garchomp could be dangerous, so they had to be dealt with carefully. I looked back at Eric while keeping Garchomp in my peripheral, speaking in a low voice to avoid further agitating the Pokemon.

“If you’ve ever wanted a Garchomp now might be a good time to try and snag one, if you don’t mind tangling with one that’s having a bit of a temper tantrum.”

OOC: There was no need to bring Durant into this situation!

IC: Sara started to lead me along the way again, with Absol taking the lead, lighting the way with Will-o-Wisp. It wasn't long before we ran into trouble though; the ground in front of us split. Sara looked in, so I followed suit and looked in too. In that ground had been a swarm of Durant, tunneling around in the ground, no doubt to avoid Heatmor. Recently though the Durant migrated from the Botanic Gardens, here to Mount Deckbi. It was almost as if the Durant were actually forced to move here so that Heatmor could go to eat them, I know this would anger someone I knew named Neon very much so. It was like if I was in the woods and I saw a Fearow going to eat an Aipom, or Ambipom, I'd be pretty angry at that Fearow, and have my Ambipom defeat it in a battle. But I wasn't going to worry about that now, and nor was I going to currently worry about these Durant, and a Heatmor, because even if the Durant ran into a Heatmor, there is more than enough of them here to overpower one.

The Durant had finished, and so we continued to walk along the way, but before we got far I heard a snarl. From the darkness came forth a Pokemon closely resembling that of a shark in ways, or perhaps even a jet. It was dark blue in color, but had red going from its midsection, to its mouth, and under that it had a gold diamond shape, some fins, as well as razor sharp claws, and its horns resembled that of a jets. It was a Garchomp, a very rare and powerful Pokemon indeed.

“If you’ve ever wanted a Garchomp now might be a good time to try and snag one, if you don’t mind tangling with one that’s having a bit of a temper tantrum,” Sara said to me.

"No thanks. Nothing personal against Garchomp, but I already own one, I just didn't bring it with me. Plus I don't think she'd be too happy if I brought another Garchomp home, I doubt she'd get along with it. So, that being said, I'll just snap a picture of this one," I said to Sara, as I pulled the camera out that I had used earlier. Garchomp was rare, so a picture of it would get me a decent amount of money, though not as much as Reshiram's picture would, and it would also help me to get out of battling this Garchomp. I set the camera perfectly so that Garchomp's whole body could be see, and snapped a picture of it.
