    OOC: You need to pick which ability Star is going t be using for this Park excursion.

    ~~~~~
    My gamepad beeped at me as the boss fired his rocket launcher straight at my avatar. I swore loudly and pushed the thumbstick left, hoping that my character would try to dodge the incoming attack, and luckily, he did. The small man rolled to the side, and I began mashing the right trigger. My little avatar begin firing his rifle at the huge mechanical monstrosity, and the bullets striking his armour made a sound that reminded me of BB shells hitting a tin can. Every boss had a pattern and a weakness, but I had not yet managed to find this guy's.
    Another rocket flew out from the exhaust port on top of his head and exploded right next to my guy, pushing him towards the edge of the stage. To fall off meant swimming in lava. I swore again as my character just managed to avoided a very painful death.
    The gamepad was suddenly snatched out of my hands and I looked up to see a very angry Ivy Frost looking at me, tapping her feet and narrowing her eyes.
    "You really shouldn't be so liberal with those words," she told me.
    "Ah, toughen up," I said. My words contained a confidence that I didn't actually have. Ivy knew this - she put her right hand on her hip, and I was out of there like a shot.
    I stopped by the receptionist desk. I was pretty bored now that Ivy had confiscated my gamepad - knowing her, she was probably playing it at this very second. The receptionist there was one named Madison - she'd become somewhat of a favourite around here, mostly due to her tendency to wear short skirts and tight shirts.
    "Hey, any runs going out today?" I asked her, being sure to take a good long look through my visored right eye.
    "Yeah, I got one going out to Outer Heaven, he's waiting at the gate there as we speak," she said, handing me a manila folder.
    I nodded and took it, before walking outside. I tucked the folder inside my overcoat and dropped a PokeBall onto the ground in front of me. A white flash revealed Broadblade, my Staraptor. He screeched a greeting and I patted his flanks by way of greeting.
    "Off to Outer Heavens today buddy," I said as I climbed up onto his back.
    Broadblade screeched again and pushed off into the air using his powerful wings. He circled Headquarters once before winging his way towards the grey mountains that were sticking up into the blue sky.
    OOC: Star will have Intimidate for this excursion.
    _________________________________________
    I sat on the ground with my back leaning against the gate of the Outer Heaven. Buzz, my Electivire, laid sprawled out on the ground a few feet in front of me. Buzz was my first ever Pokemon, and although I don't get to use him much more, he is probably the strongest member of my team and undoubtedly the Pokemon I have formed the strongest bond with over the last month of being a trainer. My second ever Pokemon, Star the Staraptor, was standing next to me, resting from the short flight we took from the National Park entrance to the Outer Heavens gate. I had arrived here about 30 minutes ago because the receptionist told me I should make sure I get to the gate before my ranger. If I knew he was going to take this long, I would of hung around the Front Desk and tried to get at the receptionist, she was pretty cute.
    I played on my Pokedex as I waited and looked up information on the Outer Heavens and my main goal of this expedition: Skarmory. I typed in "Skarm" and was redirected to a page all about the Armor Bird Pokemon.
    "Skarmory, the Armor Bird Pokemon. Steel and Flying type. Index number 227. After nesting in bramble bushes, the wings of its chicks grow hard from scratches by the thorn." the Pokedex read out loud as the page opened.
    "Bramble bushes." I said out loud. "Where the hell am I supposed to find bramble bushes in this place."
    "Electivire." Buzz said, chuckling at my mild frustration.
    I stood up and looked through the iron bars of the gate. Countless figures flew around in the distance. My excitement grew as I realized that any one of them could be a Skarmory, or maybe some other rare Pokemon that I could catch and trade.
    I looked over to Star and pet him under his chin. "We have a lot of flying to do today, bud. I'm counting on you."
    Star cooed in excitement at being able to fly around freely, something we did very often and one of the reasons me and him had such a close bond. Between all the battling and traveling we did, Star was hands down my most used Pokemon.
    I scanned the area for my ranger, but still no sight of him. Realizing I could be waiting for a while, I went back to my spot sitting on the ground against the gate. I turned my hat around, put my hood up, and began to fall asleep.
    ~~~~~

    It was about ten minutes' flight to Outer Heaven, and I enjoyed the travel moreso than usual. The day was lovely and the sky was clear - it was a little cold up here but that was the way I liked it. Broadblade wasn't an epic fan of the cold - probably because cold usually meant an incoming Ice Beam - but he loved flight, so he didn't have any complaints either.

    I saw the entrance to the Heavens up ahead. I zoomed in with my eyepiece and saw three figures waiting outside the gate. The first (and most easily noticeable one) was big and yellow. I recognised it as an Electivire - Buzz had one, and so did my older brother. It was one of his most commonly used Pokemon. The next biggest was a Staraptor, just like Broadblade. I couldn't help smiling - my Trainer obviously had good taste.

    The last figure was obviously my trainer himself. He had the regular build of a young male and was sitting against the cold metal of the gate. As Broadblade swooped lower, his Staraptor screeched a cry, causing him to wake up. I waved and dismounted Broadblade in the usual style - he flared his wings and returned to his PokeBall in a flash of light. I ghosted through the whiteness and landed solidly on the ground.

    "Hey there, my name's Chainy, and I'll be taking you through your Park Expedition. What's your name?" I asked, holding out my hand to help him up off the ground.

    I was woken up by Star's battle cry. My eyes shot open and I quickly scanned my surroundings. I saw a Staraptor coming in from my right with a person on its back, that had to be my ranger. Buzz was woken up by Star's cry also, and was standing in a battle stance with his tail tips sparking, ready to battle whatever caused Star to fuss. Not wanting any confrontation, I returned both Star and Buzz to their Pokeballs as the Staraptor trainer approached me at my spot on the ground.

    "Hey there, my name's Chainy, and I'll be taking you through your Park Expedition. What's your name?" the man said as he extended his hand to help me up.

    The young man standing above me was intimidating, but not in a mean way or anything. What made him intimidating was the aura of authority he gave off, along with his pistol and other serious equipment he had on him. I was glad my first Park Excursion would be with a ranger who took their job seriously.

    I put my hand in his so that he could help me to my feet, the grip changed to a handshake as I introduced myself.

    "Hey Chainy, my name is Ed. Nice to meet you." As I spoke to him, I recognized his face from a photo in the Front Desk area of the National Park. There was a wall with pictures of all the Park Employees on it, and I remembered that under his picture it said "Elite Ranger". I was honored to have an Elite Ranger take me through my first Park Excursion.

    "Let's get this show on the road!" I said with a smile to my ranger.

    "Oh but first, I don't know when I should turn this on, so I'll just do it now." I said as I rummaged through my backpack and pulled out my Pokeplayer and Voice Disk. The disk was labeled "Intermediate - Skarmory", and I put it in the player and hit play.

    ~~~~~
    "Hey Chainy, my name is Ed, nice to meet you," he said as he took my hand. I pulled him up with a heave and he gripped it hand-shake style as he got to his feet. I smiled at him - this guy seemed like a bro. That was good - too many trainers were stuffy and uptight these days.
    "Let's get this show on the road!" Ed grinned at me.
    "Sounds good," I said, stepping forward onto a hidden plate in the ground. The sensor underneath it felt my weight, including my pack (no one had exactly the same stuff in their backpacks) and the gate swung open after confirming it was me.
    "Oh but first, I don't know when I should turn this on, so I'll just do it now," Ed said as he pulled out a Pokeplayer and inserted a disk. I couldn't quite see what disk it was for, but I found out shortly - as soon as he pressed play some strange screechy calls began emanating from the small red device. I recognised it as a Skarmory call - they were popular targets for Trainers that came to Outer Heavens.
    I led Ed through the gate into the Park. We were on a mountain path with a dilapidated, half-constructed hotel right in front of us. There was also a trail that led off around the mountain to the right of the broken-down building. I took a look up into the sky - blue with a few clouds. Perfect weather for flying.
    Before I could suggest taking off into the air, a small brown-and-red bird flew over to us. It landed on a pile or rocks right in front of us and squawked at us in an accusatory manner. I grinned - birds were known for their interesting natures, and clearly this Spearow was no exception.
    "Interested in battling this little guy?" I asked Ed.
    My mind was blown as Chainy was able to open the gate without even touching anything. Technology these days is crazy. I quickly realized that this excursion is going to be quite annoying; I already had a headache from the constant Skarmory cries coming from the Pokeplayer.
    The scenery of the Outer Heavens was truly incredible, except there was an oddly placed, half-constructed building directly in front of us, and a trail next to it that went around the mountain. I was torn between taking the path and looking for an area of greenery, where we could hopefully find some bramble bushes, and taking to the skies and getting a birds eye view of the area, maybe making it easier to find what I was looking for.
    My thinking was cut short when a small bird Pokemon came flying toward us. I instantly recognized it as a Spearow. It seemed like it was raring for a battle.
    "Interested in battling this little guy?" My Ranger asked me.
    The little guy was tempting. Fearow were pretty strong Pokemon, and not all that common either. That, combined with the fact that this guy seemed like he loved battling made it hard to resist him. But, in the end, I already have Star, and Spearow just isn't a rare enough of a Pokemon to really attract trades.
    "I think I'll pass." I said to Chainy.
    "I think I'll pass," Ed said after a moment's thought.
    "Sure," I replied while nodding. His choice was not unexpected - while Spearow were fairly rare, their evolved forms weren't particularly powerful, so most Trainers skipped them over. I always thought this was curious - Fearow was one of the rare Flying-type Pokemon to learn a Ground-typed move, namely Drill Run. Then again, Staraptor didn't really need a Ground-type move, but the lack of Earthquake really hurt birds like Pidgeot and Togekiss.
    Still, I suppose one interesting coverage move does not a good battler make, and if Ed didn't want to catch the little bird I certainly wasn't going to make him. I began to lead my Trainer along the path, but the little bird didn't leave us alone. It continued to screech at us and eventually it began to divebomb us. One of the swoops barely missed my ear, and I swore as I felt the wind rush past it.
    "Looks like this guy doesn't want us to leave," I said to Ed as we both crouched low on the ground. "You can either battle it off or I can sell you a PokeDoll for $500 so we can escape. It's your call."
    "As much as I admire this little guy's spunk, I think I'm gonna go with that PokeDoll." I said as I reached into my back pocket and pulled out $500 and handed it to my ranger.
    My ranger took a plush Clefairy doll out of his bag and threw it up in the air. The Spearow caught the doll at its apex and flew away while holding it in its talons.
    "Poor Clefairy." I said with a chuckle.
    "As much as I admire this little guy's spunk, I think I'm gonna go with that PokeDoll," Ed said to me as he handed me a small wad of bills. I nodded and took the cash - not an unexpected turn of events.
    I stowed the cash away inside my pack and pulled out the first PokeDoll my hand caught hold of. I pulled it out and smiled - it was Clefairy shaped, the most common form of PokeDoll. I looked towards Ed, but he didn't seem to care about throwing the doll himself. I shrugged and threw it up into the air. The Spearow quickly grabbed the plush toy and began winging away, lugging its prize. For no real reason I was reminded of the swallow and coconut skit by Monty Python.
    "Poor Clefairy," my Trainer laughed, and I chuckled along with him.
    We walked away from the gate until we came to a split in the rocky mountain path. The fork split three ways - the left path lead higher up the peak, to a spot which I knew was a great take-off point. The right fork lead down slightly, to a cliff-face path where rare Pokemon were common. The middle one lead to a dilapidated old hotel that had never been finished and had fallen into disrepair long ago. I took a step back and turned to Ed. If he'd read the brochure, he'd know all this already.
    "So, which way do you want to go?" I asked him.
    After the encounter with the feisty Spearow, my ranger and I continued our journey a bit deeper into the National Park until we came to a three-way fork in the road. From the extensive research I had done on the Outer Heavens before coming here, I knew that the middle path led to an abandoned building of some sort, apparently a hotel from what I've heard, and that one of the other two led to a high peak which was a prime take off point for trainers, while the other went to a grounded area near a large cliff where it was rumored many rare Pokemon dwell.
    "So, which way do you want to go?" Chainy asked me.
    I paused for a second and began to think. Bramble bushes. That is what I'm looking for. I doubt I'll find bramble bushes in a building, abandoned or not. Also, if I took to the skies, finding a Skarmory would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I certainly wanted to take the ground route, the only problem was that I didn't know which one it was.
    I looked over at my Ranger. "Wait here." I said, and I began to sprint down the left path, after running about 50 or so yards I realized that the trail was on an incline and was leading up to a mountain peek. I came to a stop and sighed. This wasn't the path I wanted. I turned around and began the sprint back to where Chainy was waiting. I ran up to him and took a second to catch my breath before speaking.
    "Wait here again." I said, and I ran away again without waiting for a response.
    This time I took the right path, scaring away a flock of Pidgey and Pidgeotto chilling along the trial. After a little running, I came to a dead stop.
    Bramble bushes. There were bramble bushes ahead of me! I jumped in the air and clapped my feet together, quickly looking around to make sure nobody saw that... questionable expression of excitement. I sprinted back to where I left Chainy waiting and before he was even in sight, I began yelling his name.
    "Chainy, Chainy, Chainy!" I shouted as I turned the corner and saw that I had startled him a little.
    I stopped a few feet in front of him and didn't even wait to catch my breath before I started speaking.
    "Right trail.. bushes... thorny... bramble... Skarmory." I took deep breaths between each word as I slowly began to catch my breath. With one final deep breath, I was finally able to speak normal.
    "There are bramble bushes over there!" I finally blurted out. I immediately took my Pokeplayer out of my pocket and pressed play.
    "I think I wanna take the right most path." I said calmly, with a huge smile.
    OOC: Remember, you get to take 3 Pokemon out.
    ~~~~~

    Ed paused for a second, taking a good look around. He squinted his eyes, looking at the old hotel, before discarding the possibility with a small shake of his head. He looked off to the left and told me to wait before sprinting off it a way. I waited a minute or so, and just when I was about to go looking for him he returned.

    He panted heavily for a couple seconds before telling me to wait again. I couldn't suppress a grin as he dashed off again, this time to the right. I knew he'd be back soon - Ed didn't seem like the kind to go against the rules - so I pulled out my PDA and fired up one of my portable games.

    After a couple minutes of tending digital Eevee, I heard my name being yelled over and over. I looked up and around and I finally caught sight of Ed returning. He skidded to a stop in front of me and started trying to speak and breathe at the same time. I didn't catch much of it, and the few words that I did hear didn't make much sense when together.

    Ed eventually realised that I wasn't going to understand a word he said until he calmed down a bit, so he took a few deep breaths. Finally, he managed to blurt out, "There are bramble bushes over there! I think I want to take the right-most path."

    "Sure," I said, and as I began to lead him down the path he pulled out a red circular Pokeplayer. He inserted a disk marked "Skarmory" and pressed play. Immediately the machine began emitting a metallic screeching that was eerily reminiscent of a real Skarmory's cry.

    The path began to descend, and I could see that it was just about to turn left, becoming the cliff-side path. I wondered what Ed had seen that had got him so excited. I soon found out a strong possibility.

    A strange multicoloured Pokemon floated around the cliff face towards us. It had a spherical, mostly black body. A chime-like tail dangled beneath it and large spindly wings grew out to both sides. An eye was located on an antenna sticking upwards, with two more on the main body. They blinked individually at us, as if surprised to see us here.

    "Well well, this is your lucky day," I said to Nick. "This is a Sigilyph, a very rare Pokemon. I wish I was able to catch it. Do you want to try a battle with it?"

    OOC: Sigilyph is male. Also, both Pokemon have learned more moves since the start of the expedition, so am I allowed to use those moves?

    ____
    "Sure." My ranger replied, and we continued our trip into the Outer Heavens.

    The trail began to decline and the cliff face was coming up to the left; we were almost at the bramble bushes I saw. Just as we approached the corner, a strange looking Pokemon casually turned the corner. It had a round, mostly black body. A weird looking chime thing, which I assumed to be its tail, dangled beneath it and large wings grew out to both sides. It also had an eye located on an antenna sticking straight up, and two white things on his body that I assumed were also eyes. I recognized it instantly as a rare Psychic/Flying type from the Unova region, although its name had slipped my mind.

    "Well well, this is your lucky day," Chainy said to me. "This is a Sigilyph, a very rare Pokemon. I wish I was able to catch it. Do you want to try a battle with it?"

    Sigilyph! That's what it was called. My excitement began to grow once again as I realized I was in the presence of one of my top three targets for this expedition. Along with Skarmory, I was really hoping I would be able to catch a Sigilyph and an Aerodactyl. I didn't have much use for either of them, but they were highly coveted by fellow trainers and I knew I would be able to trade either one for a Pokemon I really wanted, such as Gastly, Abra, Staryu, or Scyther.

    A huge smile came across my face. "I'm certainly going to try and capture this guy. But first, I wanna do a little research." I pulled out my Pokedex and went to a page about Sigilyph.

    "Sigilyph, the Avianoid Pokemon. Psychic and Flying type. The guardians of an ancient city, they use their psychic power to attack enemies that invade their territory." My Pokedex read out loud.

    Uh oh. I knew this thing would come out swinging since we were most likely invading its territory, so I knew that whichever Pokemon I sent out would have to take defensive precautions before attacking. I weighed out my options. Should I use Star? He could use Double Team to help with his defense, and he would be able to reach Sigilyph with his physical attacks since he is also Flying-typed. I put my hand on Star's Pokeball, but quickly shook my head no and moved on to Buzz's Pokeball. I'm going to need Star in case I encounter a Skarmory, so I'm going to use Buzz.

    I unclipped Buzz's Pokeball from my belt and threw it out in front of me. "Time to make a new friend, Buzz!" I called out as he exploded out of his Pokeball.

    "Vire!" He said in his usual smug sounding voice.

    "Listen Buzz, we have to be smart about this. We don't want to hurt him too bad, but we don't want to let you get hurt either, so we need to be careful." I said quietly in Buzz's ear, for some reason not wanting our opponent to hear me. My Electivire just nodded his head to show me he understood.

    "Awesome. Alright, let's start off with a Magnet Rise, so that you can reach him with your contact moves! Then go for a Light Screen so he can't hurt you too much, bud!"

    OOC: Unfortunately not. You can only use their level up moves and the ones listed in the Pokemon Statistics at the bottom of my posts. Also, don't forget to describe what the moves look like.

    "I'm certainly going to try and capture this guy. But first, I wanna do a little research," Ed said to me as he pulled out his PokeDex. I wasn't really surprised to see him with one - while not every Trainer had them, the majority of Pokemon Trainers started out with one from a Pokemon Professor, and the Professors often gave PokeDexes to self-taught Trainers they encountered on their travels.

    Ed pressed a few buttons and swiped the screen a few times. A robotic voice suddenly said, "Sigilyph, the Avianoid Pokemon. Psychic and Flying type. The guardians of an ancient city, they use their psychic power to attack enemies that invade their territory."

    Ed narrowed his eyes in thought momentarily before unclipping a PokeBall from his belt and throwing it in front of him. "Time to make a new friend, Buzz!" he called out.

    A white flash of light revealed his Electivire from before. I grinned - one of the Rangers here at the Park went by the name of Buzz, and he too had an Electivire. Coincidence much?

    Ed stepped forward to whisper something in the Electivire's ear, and Buzz nodded. He then stepped forwards and challenged the Sigilyph with a loud roar.

    "Awesome." Ed grinned. "Alright, let's start off with a Magnet Rise, so that you can reach him with your contact moves! Then go for a Light Screen so he can't hurt you too much, bud!"

    Buzz roared again, and small electrical waves began to flow down from his chest to his legs like water. The electromagnetic pulses pushed at the ground, raising the huge yellow beast a metre or so off the ground. The Electivire tensed his muscles as his flotation stabilised, but after a couple of minutes he was hovering just as easily as he would walk. He then held both of his hands out in front of him, and a light blue square began to swirl in-between his palms. It got bigger as it rotated, and it finally settled into place in front of him when it was able to cover him completely.

    The Sigilyph watched Buzz carefully as he prepared for battle. It began to glow bright white and a thin shield of white energy coated it all over, from the top of its wings to the bottom of its chime. It flapped a couple of times, testing the shield, before bobbing satisfactorily. The Flying type then brought its left wing down like a human would swing a sword, and a barely-visible blade of wind sliced towards Buzz. The Light Screen crackled and turned momentarily pink as it tried to block the attack, but it couldn't do so completely. The tail part of the attack passed through the shield and collided with Buzz's body, pushing him backwards through the air. Luckily for Ed, the attack didn't seem to have done much damage, though.

    The foe Sigilyph responded by using what I assumed to be Cosmic Power and Air Slash. Luckily, between Light Screen and Buzz's flying resistance, Air Slash didn't do much more than annoy my partner.

    I looked over at Chainy. "If this works, you have to give me ten dollars." I said to him with joking tone.

    I fixed my attention back to the battle, and began to command my Pokemon. "Alright Buzz, time to start doing some damage and tire him out. If we can inflict a status ailment on Sigilyph, he'll be more likely to become our friend, so here's the plan. I want you to use Quick Attack to get in close to him, then use Ice Punch. But listen Buzz, I want you to aim for his wing when you launch the Ice Punch. Try to grab his wing if you can, so that we can get the freeze hax."

    Why the wing? Well, I figured that if I aimed for the least dense part of Sigilyph's body, then it would be easier to freeze. Plus, freezing his wing would cripple him greatly, making him practically a sitting duck. It might also be able to spread across his whole body after a little while.

    Vire immediately launched into action, leaving a trail of bright white light behind him as sped towards his opponent, as he drew closer, he pulled his right hand back and clenched it into a fist. A beautiful icy glow slowly began to form around his hand. The ice was so powerful that I could feel the coldness from it despite the distance between us. I tightened my jaw in anticipation, this would be huge if it works.

    "If this works, you have to give me ten dollars," Ed said jokingly to me.

    "Tell ya what, I'll give ya the ten bucks if you can finish the battle before Buzz's Light Screen goes down." I laughed.

    "Alright Buzz, time to start doing some damage and tire him out. If we can inflict a status ailment on Sigilyph, he'll be more likely to become our friend, so here's the plan. The Electivire leaned forward and made a pushing motion with his legs. He suddenly shot towards the Sigilyph, leaving some white sparks behind him. The rest followed the large yellow beast, dancing underneath him, keeping him off the ground. He drew back his right fist and light blue mists began to swirl around it as ice expanded out from his wrist. Soon, his hand was encased in a huge block of frozen water the size of a mailbox.

    As Buzz moved forward, small lines of blue energy streaked out of the Sigilyph, making it look like some kind of weird puppet. More and more shot out of the Psychic-type Pokemon, and they began to waver and pulse. They didn't impede Buzz's progress, though - the Electivire passed easily through the strange streaks and clobbered the Sigilyph's right wing with an overhand swing. The ice shattered and the Sigilyph made an echoing keen as it fluttered higher, away from the Electivire. The blue strands moved with it and continued to pulse. Finally, the strands glowed a bright blue and then disappeared. Both Buzz and the Sigilyph crashed into the ground. The Sigilyph at least managed to slow its rapid descent by rapidly beating its wings. Buzz, on the other hand, crashed into the ground. Hard. He groaned a bit as his stomach collided with the ground. The Electivire struggled to get up, but he could only manage to get to his knees.

    "Ah, the Gravity technique," I marveled. "One of my favourite moves. Be careful, Buzz won't be able to move around much now. Then again, the Sigilyph can't either. This might be a good chance to get a status on it!"

    As Buzz worked his way towards the Sigilyph, the foe was releasing some strange waves of blue energy that seemed to be moving in slow motion. Once Buzz finished the Ice Punch, both Pokemon took a hard fall to the ground. I cringed a little for my partner, knowing that had to of hurt.

    "Vire." Buzz said as he lifted his head off the ground and shook it.

    The Sigilyph was looking completely helpless on the ground, and even though Electivire was going to have a hard time getting over to him, a couple mighty pushes from his powerful legs would close the few feet of distance between them easily. It was a perfect chance to strike.

    "Ah, the Gravity technique," Chainy said, sounding slightly impressed with the wild Pokemon. "One of my favorite moves. Be careful, Buzz won't be able to move around much now. Then again, the Sigilyph can't either. This might be a good chance to get a status on it!"

    Just what I was thinking.

    "Alright, Buzz, time to get serious. No mercy! Speed isn't gonna help us out much here, so use that lower body strength to push yourself over to the Sigilyph, then I want you to wrap it up in your tails so that it can't move at all. When you got it held still, I want you to charge up an Ice Punch, but don't attack it! I want you to hold your icy hand on his torso for as long as possible, try to freeze him!" I called out to my Electivire.

    Electivire using it's tails as a pseudo-constrict; I'm not gonna lie, that's not an original idea of mine, but I saw it on TV once. It was an Infernape battling an Electivire, two of my favorite Pokemon. The Infernape went in for a Mach Punch, but the Electivire was able to side step it and catch Infernape's wrist with its tails. It then launched a devastating Thunder attack on the defenseless Pokemon. If that trainer can use the technique to hit hard, then surely I can use it to force a status ailment. It may seem dirty, but all is fair in love and battle. Except evasion hax.

    Electivire was able to get on all fours, and began driving his legs to fight through the Gravity. After a few steps, he fell, but he was right on top of the Sigilyph. He then wrapped both of its' wings with a tail each as his hands began to glow that all so familiar icy blue color. It was both of his hands this time, and they weren't in a fist. Instead, both hands were wide open, and began to bring them down onto the Sigilyph's torso.

    OOC: Be careful, using the same move repeatedly usually incurs a penalty. I didn't add it this turn cos you might not have known that, though.

When you got it held still, I want you to charge up an Ice Punch, but don't attack it! I want you to hold your icy hand on his torso for as long as possible, try to freeze him!" Ed called.

    Ed sure was intent on getting that Freeze. I wasn't so confident about it though - a complete Freezing was rare, especially when the Pokemon wasn't Ice-typed. Electivire would have probably been better off trying to Paralyze the Sigilyph, but that wouldn't weaken the Flying-type as much, which is probably what Ed was going for.

    With great effort, Buzz managed to get onto his hands and knees. He laboriously crawled the ten or so metres over the Sigilyph. Its black tails rose up high enough of the ground to wind carefully around the Sigilyph's wings, and they took the Electivire's weight as he raised his hands over the Avianoid Pokemon. Light blue mist began to gather around both of the Electivire's hands and he slowly, almost gently, grasped both sides of the Sigilyph's black spherical body.

    The Wild Pokemon started to struggle weakly, but the effects of the Gravity technique and Electivire's own weight meant it couldn't get away. I watched, almost with pity, as the Sigilyph thrashed against the heavyset Electric type. I began to hear a crackling - surely the Freeze wasn't occurring?

    I zoomed in on the wrestling Pokemon with the visor that covered my right eye. Sure enough, small shards of ice were beginning to stick to the Sigilyph. I couldn't see any more, though, because a bright rainbow-coloured light began to shine inbetween the two Pokemon. I heard an explosion that reminded me of a cannon blast and Buzz was hurled into the air by an expanding energy ball that glowed all the colours of the rainbow. It soon faded, leaving Buzz to fall back to the ground with an even heavier thwack. I groaned sympathetically and looked away, that had to hurt. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the Sigilyph was still moving around weakly, too - the Freeze must not have had a chance to take hold. At least Buzz hadn't taken the full extent of the Psychic blast - I noted that his Light Screen was still firmly inbetween himself and his opponent, although it was starting to look a little worse for the wear.

    Buzz gently held his hands on the Sigilyph's torso as the ice slowly began to take over the wild Pokemon's body. A smile began to come across my face at the sight of it, but the smile quickly faded as Sigilyph Psybeam'd Buzz right in the face from point blank range. If it wasn't for Light Screen, that would have done some serious damage. My Electric-type was sent back flying several yards and landed hard, once again.

    With Light Screen and Gravity working in our favor but beginning to wear off, I knew it was time to start doing some major damage on the wild Sigilyph.

    "Alright Buzz, Sigilyph still can barely move, but that won't last much longer. Put everything you have into a Thunderbolt! That should leave Sigilyph stunned, so then I want you to get in close and follow it up with a Fire Punch! For your own good, you better hope that Fire Punch sends it flying." I called out to Buzz. I knew I had to start getting damage on Sigilyph quick, or else Light Screen would wear off and I would start taking major damage. I was hoping these would be the final attacks before I attempted to capture it.

    Buzz nodded his head and stood up tall. With a fierce look in his eyes, his tails began to raise straight up in the air and spark with electricity. He then launched a vicious electric attack at the crippled Psychic-type. The flash of light from the launch of the Thunderbolt temporarily blinded everyone in the area, and Buzz used the cover of that light to charge his opponent, his legs once again driving into the ground, moving faster with each powerful push. I couldn't see the attack, but I felt the heat coming from his fist. If Sigilyph was a little chilly from the Ice Punches, this Fire Punch would certainly warm him up.

    "Alright Buzz, Sigilyph still can barely move, but that won't last much longer. Put everything you have into a Thunderbolt! That should leave Sigilyph stunned, so then I want you to get in close and follow it up with a Fire Punch! For your own good, you better hope that Fire Punch sends it flying," Ed called out.

    I knew that with the effects of the Gravity technique there was no way that Buzz would be able to "send the Sigilyph flying", but I guessed it was just a figure of speech. This battle was actually going better for Buzz and Ed than I had expected - Sigilyph were renowned for being tricky opponents, but Sigilyph hadn't done much more than direct attacks and the aforementioned Gravity.

    Slowly but surely, Buzz got onto his hands and knees, and then onto his feet. I was impressed with the Electivire's raw strength - Gravity was not a laughing matter. My Dusknoir had perfected the technique, and my Gallade had a working knowledge of it, and it was one of the hardest techniques to master in all of the Pokemon universe.

    Buzz clenched his fists and small darts of electricity began to play around his twin black tails. Just before he fired the attack I noticed that white light was playing around the Sigilyph and the thickness of its shield was wavering, but slowly increasing overall. I only got a glimpse, though - the Thunderbolt blinded us all as it fired towards the Sigilyph. I heard a strange alien squawk and when my vision cleared I noticed that the Sigilyph had actually been pushed backwards, towards the cliff. Buzz was also not in the same place he had been, except that was because he was powerfully driving his legs into the ground, pushing against the Gravity towards the Sigilyph. I could tell that the Gravity was beginning to wear off – the Sigilyph was beating its wings, and beginning to rise into the air. It wasn’t fast enough, though – Buzz drove his right fist forward and it was surrounded by ruby-coloured flames. The fire expanded like an explosion as the attack made contact and the Sigilyph was thrust into the air. Unluckily for Buzz, the force behind the Fire Punch pushed the Sigilyph outside of the Gravity’s area of effect. The Flying-type flitted around, no doubt enjoying the return of its freedom.

    The Sigilyph fluttered high over the Electivire and the chimes on its base began to glow bright, pure white. The white glow moved down into rings that hovered below the Psychic type, and with a loud screech the Sigilyph fired the rings down towards Buzz. The rings shrunk as they travelled, and they made contact with the Electric-type, making a loud smacking sound as they did so. The each successive ring knocked Buzz down further until he was on his knees, panting.

    The Sigilyph began to glow white again, and I stepped up to Ed. I was worried. “If I were you I’d think about capturing it sometime soon,” I said to him. “These things can Recover their health, and you don’t want to get into a stalling match with a Flying type.”

    Buzz's attack worked according to plan, he was able to get damage on the Sigilyph and avoid taking a direct hit. However, Sigilyph's Stored Power did do a decent amount of damage. After finding its way out of the Gravity area, Sigilyph managed to flutter high in the air and charge a strange attack. I had no idea what it was, but it didn't look good since it had Buzz on his knees panting.

    “If I were you I’d think about capturing it sometime soon,” Chainy said to me. “These things can Recover their health, and you don’t want to get into a stalling match with a Flying type.”

    Shit. They can use Recover!? With two Cosmic Powers up and access to Recover, I knew I had to wrap this up, and quick. Without wasting another second, I pulled a Parkball out of my pocket. I click the center button on the red and white orb and it grew to the size of a baseball. I waited for the Sigilyph to sit still for a second, and threw the Parkball directly at it like a baseball pitcher.
