    Ed watched as his Staraptor was bashed around by the Skarmory's Swift attack. He seemed to have a plan, though, and it was probably the same plan he had intended to use for capturing Skarmory all along.

    "Listen up Star, I'm sorry but I'm going to need you to take a hit here. Brace yourself, and right after Skarmory attacks, I want you to use Endeavor. I know you can do it, Star," he called out to his Pokemon.

    Star's chest was heaving and he was panting audibly, but he managed a caw in reply. With visible effort, he stopped panting an stood up straight, glaring at the Skarmory. The Skarmory glared back, unsure what to do. It shuffled to the left, but Star didn't move. It then feinted forwards, but again, Star was impassive. The Skarmory's eyes narrowed, and it screeched loudly. Its battle tattoos began glowing bright blue again, but this time the energy that was being emanated was more streamlined and laser-like than the flame-based Sky Attack. The light swirled and began to encase the entirety of the Steel-type, and it launched itself forwards, towards Star.

    Star was prepared, however. He watched the incoming Skarmory carefully, and raised his wings out in front of him. The Skarmory was now little more than a pointy blue projectile, and it slammed into Star, who cried out in pain. However, this didn't stop the Normal-type from following his orders - he grabbed hold of the Skarmory and pulled it towards him, sidestepping at the same time. This caused the Skarmory to fly straight into the cliff wall that was right behind Star. The crunching noise that resulted was painful, and I winced and looked away. The Skarmory began to keen in pain, and when I looked back I saw that parts of its armour had been dented and it couldn't open its right wing properly. It was doddering around, barely able to keep on its feet. Star was looking bad as well - that Endeavour attack had cost him the last of his health. He had collapsed onto his chest, and was just barely conscious.

    Star did a great job of absorbing the powerful attack; which I recognized as Brave Bird, Star's favorite move. Skarmory launched itself straight at Star who blocked the attack with his wings. He winced in pain but fought through it and slammed Skarmory in the cliff wall behind him. Both Pokemon were severely hurt and in danger of fainting. For the safety of both Pokemon, I had to try to catch Skarmory now. I pulled the Parkball out of my pocket and twirled it in my hand as it grew from ping-pong ball sized to softball-sized. I didn't have to try very hard to aim since the Pokemon was laying on the ground motionless, so I did a casual side-armed throw aiming for the torso of the Steel-type. The ball rolled of my finger tips and spun rapidly as it headed towards Skarmory.

    OOC: Please don't forget to read my posts carefully - the Skarmory was not "laying on the ground motionless".

    ~~~~~
    I was about to call out for Ed to attempt the capture when I saw that he'd come to the same conclusion on his own. He pulled out a ParkBall and spun it around stylishly in his hand as it expanded to its normal size. He tossed it almost lazily at the Skarmory, who was still hopping around. For a second, I thought it would miss, but it just clipped one of the Steel-type's flailing metallic wings. The Skarmory was converted into red energy which was sucked inside the ball. The ParkBall fell onto the ground and began to wobble from side to side.
    We both watched the ball in breathless anticipation. Star did not - I imagined the large bird was too tired out to care about his Trainer's capture attempt. I couldn't say I blamed him - from the looks of it he wouldn't be able to withstand another attack. I hoped Ed had brought some healing items with him.
    Finally, the ball stopped rocking and emitted the usual "captured" tone. A red light flashed out towards us and I grinned as I walked over to pick up the capture device.
    "Congratulations," I said to Ed, "I always like it when Trainers manage to find the Pokemon they've come looking for. What do you want to do now?"
    I slipped the shrinking ball into my pack's side pocket and turned to the Trainer, waiting for his reply. I was incredibly conscious of the wheezing Star off to my right, but I had no doubt that Ed would either heal his Pokemon or return it to its ball. PokeBalls had rudimentary stasis systems that kept the Pokemon stable, if not healing them. It was certainly better than nothing, especially in remote places like the Park where Pokemon Centres weren't readily available and healing items were worth their weight in gold. Figuratively.
    OOC: Sorry about that, I was really tired when I wrote that and just threw it together. BTW, don't worry about having to add anything to Serperior to even out the trade value, Mirror Coat is a level up move. xD
    ________________
    Just like with Sigilyph, the Pokeball almost missed it's target and just clipped the Pokemon's wing. Skarmory was turned into a red energy and absorbed into the Pokeball. Chainy and I watched intently as the Pokeball shook back and forth, rather weakly, which was expected considering how grueling the battle that just took place here was. I was finally able to relax when the Pokeball stilled itself and dinged.
    "Congratulations," Chainy said to me, "I always like it when Trainers manage to find the Pokemon they've come looking for. What do you want to do now?"
    Chainy turned to me as he slipped Skarmory's Pokeball into his pocket, I was opened my mouth to answer him but then I remembered about Star. Without saying a word I dashed over to my Flying-type partner and kneeled down next to him.
    "You did amazing Star, thank you so much. Take this and rest up in your Pokeball." I said as I gently stroked his crest and handed him my one and only Energy Powder Plus. He licked it off my hand and I returned him to his Pokeball as I stood up and brushed my knees off.
    "Sorry about that, bud." I said as I walked back over to Chainy. "Uh, let's walk around a little bit and see if we can find a nice take off point. Star needs some rest though before we take off though."
    I hooked my thumbs onto the straps of my backpack and looked at Chainy with the same expectant look that he gives me, "I'll follow your lead." I said with a smile.
    OOC: You're fine. And whoooooooooooops xD
    ~~~~~

    Ed didn't waste any time. He dashed over to his wounded Pokemon and pulled out a small plastic baggie containing some white powder. He opened it, poured it out into his cupped hand and knelt in front of the Staraptor.

    "You did amazing Star, thank you so much. Take this and rest up in your Pokeball," Ed murmured as the bird licked it off his hand with his knobbly tongue. Ed ran his hand through Star's red crest a couple times before I returning him to his PokeBall.

    "Uh, let's walk around a little bit and see if we can find a nice take off point," Ed suggested. "Star needs some rest though before we take off though. I'll follow your lead."

    "Sounds fine with me," I replied. "We're looking for a relatively open area, preferably with a bit of a runway. I guess the best thing to do is continue along the path."

    Ed nodded, and I took the lead. We walked back out onto the ledge and inched our way around the path. It got thinner, tapering in until it was barely a metre wide. We didn't have to inch along the path for long, though - after a couple of minutes it made a sudden left turn, becoming a staircase. I was just about to ask Ed whether he wanted to go up it or continue along the cliff trail when I heard a sudden fluttering. I looked to the right, out off the cliff, and a small red-and-brown bird was flying towards us. It was another Spearow.

    "Interested in one?" I asked Ed. I doubted he was considering he turned one down before, but it never hurt to ask.

    I nodded my head to show that I understood and we continued walking. The path got thinner and thinner until it was about a yard wide. It didn't last for long though because after several minutes it turned into a staircase after a hard left turn. Chainy turned back to me and opened his mouth to speak, but stopped when we both heard a light fluttering noise. We both turned around and saw a small bird Pokemon flying over to us. It was a Spearow, and I was pretty sure it was the same one from the beginning of the excursion; the first Pokemon I ever encountered in the National Park.

    "Interested in one?" Chainy asked me, although he sounded like he knew the answer; which was a no.

    "Eh, I'm good. If it doesn't let us leave then just throw the thing a Pokedoll, please. I got the cash. Also, I think I'm going to use the last track on my Skarmory Voice Disk. Wouldn't mind having two of those guys." I replied.

    "I don't blame ya." I laughed. "Alright, power it up and we'll see if any come running."

    Ed turned on the Pokeplayer and the screechy metallic cries echoed off of the cliff faces surrounding us. I sat down on one of the steps and listened to the device as the noises slowly but surely got quieter. After a few minutes, the device made a whizzing sound, and the disc was automatically ejected. A small wisp of smoke emitted from the machine, but everything looked okay.

    "You're lucky you came when you did," I said to Ed. "We only managed to perfect permanent Voice Disks a couple months ago. If you'd been here even a week sooner that disk would be nothing more than slag right now."

    I stood up and dusted my legs and butt off. I was about to lead my Trainer up the staircase when I saw a little multicolour bird peering down at us from up on a higher ledge. It jumped from side to side - apparently it was pretty nervous. I wouldn't be surprised if we were the first humans it had ever seen.

    "Interested in trying to capture a Chatot?" I asked.

    I turned the Pokeplayer back on and it worked for a little while, until it started making an odd sound that couldn't of meant anything good. Thankfully, the Pokeplayer is fail-safe and the disk was ejected.

    "You're lucky you came when you did," Chainy said to me. "We only managed to perfect permanent Voice Disks a couple months ago. If you'd been here even a week sooner that disk would be nothing more than slag right now."

    "Thank God," I replied, chuckling.

    Chainy stood up and dusted himself off, he began to walk over to the staircase when he stopped and pointed up at the top of a ledge. There was a small colorful bird Pokemon with a music note-shaped head looking down at us, jumping around nervously.

    "Interested in trying to capture a Chatot?" Chainy asked me.

    I thought about it for a minute but then decided against it. "I think I'm going to pass." I replied.

    OOC: I'm assuming you want to throw a doll, so pay $500. If you'd rather battle it instead, let me know and I'll edit this post.

    ~~~~~
    "I think I'm going to pass," Ed said. I wasn't surprised - Chatot were available in most any pet store, so very few Trainers would consider catching it in the Park considering all the other rare species that were on offer.
    I waved at the Chatot and it whistled a farewell before disappearing over the edge. I jerked my head towards the top of the staircase and we continued our climb, being very careful as we went. The staircase was old and some of the steps were crumbly. Furthermore, a couple of them sloped backwards so small pools of mildewed water made the steps treacherously slippery.
    Despite all of this, we managed to make it to the top without incident. At the top was a small gravel path, leading upwards to the peak. It was certainly wide enough and long enough for a takeoff. I was about to bring this possibility up to Ed when I saw a Swellow on the path up ahead. It was pecking at the ground, probably trying to get at a worm or something. We'd have to scare it off or something if we wished to get into the air.
    "Want to battle that Swellow?" I asked my Trainer, "or do you want to try and find another place to get airborne?"
    21k - 500 = 20,500, just let me know if the escapes don't work and I have to pay.
    Chainy shooed away the Chatot and we continued along the trail. We came to a high area that looked suitable for taking off, I was about to ask Chainy if this was where we would take flight but we both noticed a Swellow perched on the path up ahead.
    "Want to battle that Swellow?" Chainy asked me, "or do you want to try and find another place to get airborne?"
    I ran up to the Swellow with my arms flailing wildly and yelling "RUN MUTTA-EFFER!!!"
    "Eh, I'll try to scare the Swellow away so we can take off here." Ed said. He took a few steps back and began to run towards the bird, waving his arms around frantically and screaming profanities. The Swellow looked up, startled, and quickly took flight, not wanting to deal with the insane human. It banked left and spiraled down below the clouds, out of sight. I walked up and put my hand on Ed's shoulder, grinning.
    "Nice job, mate." I laughed. "Now, let's get airborne."
    I pulled out one of my PokeBalls and dropped it onto the ground. A red flash revealed my Staraptor, Broadblade. He keened loudly and I was about to introduce him to Ed when I remembered that they'd already met, back at the start of the run. The Flying-type ruffled his heads and I patted him on the side of his neck a couple times before climbing up onto his back using his wing. My weight was like nothing to the strong bird, and he stood up straight, ready to take off.
    "Alright, well I'll see you up there," I called to Ed as Broadblade began to run. He flapped his wings powerfully, and on the third stroke we rose up into the air. He kept pushing until we were a couple stories above Ed before the bird locked his wings and we circled, waiting for my Trainer to follow us up here. There were plenty of hot updrafts all around us, which was one of the many things that made the Outer Heavens a perfect habitat for Flying-type Pokemon.
    My plan had worked, I scared the Swellow and sent it flying as fast as it could.
    "Nice job, mate." Chainy said, laughing. "Now, let's get airborne."
    My ranger pulled out one of the Pokeballs off his belt and released a large Staraptor from it. He embraced the Pokemon for a few moments before hopping onto it's back.
    "Alright, well I'll see you up there," Chainy called out as his Staraptor started running and took off into the air.
    After he took off I pulled Star's Pokeball off my belt and released the Flying-type from it's Pokeball. Star cooed in excitement and stretched its wings when it came out, seemingly completely recovered from it's grueling battle with Skarmory.
    "You ready to take flight, bud?" I said as I pet Star's crest. I waited until Star nodded before I climbed up on his back.
    He started running, using his powerful legs to build up speed as he simultaneously flapped his wings. Before I knew it, we were up in the air, at the same altitude as Chainy and we were circling around each other as our Staraptors cooed at one another in greeting.
    I watched from up high as Ed summoned his Staraptor. To most people, the his Staraptor and mine were identical, but they had one very distinct weakness. One that would probably come in handy very soon. Until then, though, I'd keep it a secret. The look on people's faces was always priceless.
    Star flew up into the air just like Broadblade had and banked towards us. The two birds circled around each other for a couple minutes, calling to each other in greeting. The clouds below us were moving slowly south-west, and the ones above us were straggly and barely existant. Fine day for flying, if a bit hot.
    I looked around and saw a few locations we could go to look for Pokemon. To the north was a cluster of mountain peaks that Dragon Pokemon often inhabited. Not many Trainers went there, though - the Pokemon there were powerful indeed. Most visitors to the Park liked to capture the lower-stage Pokemon and evolve them through training. It was easier that way. Off to the east was a dormant volcano, just barely sticking up through the sea of clouds. Finally, back towards the gate there was a huge jungle-gym-like system of wooden poles that the smaller birds liked playing in.
    I pointed to each of the directions, then raised my arms in a silent question. We could have communicated by yelling, I suppose, but if the winds picked up (like they probably would) we wouldn't be able to hear each other. Besides, I hated tearing my throat out. I'd just let Ed pick a direction and then follow suit.
    Chainy pointed at the possible destinations we could go to. I instantly flashed back to the last time he asked me which way to go, and immediately after is when we encountered Sigilyph. This got me to thinking about the Pokemon I still want to catch in the Outer Heavens. I had already caught Sigilyph and Skarmory, so the only Pokemon left on my hit list was an Aerodactyl.
    First he pointed to the north, where I saw a mountain range far in the distance. This being my first time in the National Park, the only thing I knew about the Outer Heavens was that Flying-types dwelled here and there was an abandoned hotel, so I had no idea what was living on that mountain range. Next, he pointed to the east, where I could just see the tip of a volcano poking out through the clouds. I didn't know if it was active or not, but volcanoes were pretty freaking awesome, and volcanoes were often associated with rocks, and Aerodactyl is a Rock-type. Hey, it was worth a shot. I had already made up my mind when Chainy pointed back towards the entrance gate. I glanced over there and didn't see anything of note, so I stayed with my decision of going to the volcano.
    Chainy raised his arms as if to ask me which way I wanted to go. I pointed east, towards the volcano, and made a 'you first' gester, signaling that I wanted him to take the lead.
    Ed pointed towards the volcano before making a shooing motion. I interpreted this as him wanting me to lead, so I squeezed Broadblade's sides with my knees. He cut out of the circling he'd been doing and began to glide towards our destination, only flapping his wings occasionally to keep us aloft. I turned around to see that he was following me, although too far away for me to yell.
    I looked down and saw one small white cloud that was moving against all the others. I was about to dip low and investigate it when it rose up towards us. There was a large purple sphere below it. The purple faded to lilac as the sphere raised, and four arms were revealed, swinging gently from side to side. The balloon-shape ended in a red jagged spurt. The Drilfbim rose up to us and eyed us using its small red pinprick pupil. A low-pitched call echoed throughout the heavens, and I knew the Drifblim was greeting us.
    "Alright Broadblade, I need you to ask Ed if he wants to try battling this Drifblim," I said to my bird, raising my voice so he could hear me.
    Broadblade nodded, and I could feel him casting his mind back to Ed. Recently, the Staraptor had awakened his Hidden Power, and it had been Psychic-typed. That meant he could communicate telepathically, and it was incredibly handy on Outer Heavens expeditions like this.
    <Hey yo, Ed, it's nice ta speak with ya bro,> Broadblade sent. I grinned - not many people would expect a Staraptor to sound like a surfer dude. <Tha boss wants ta know whether yer intrasted in that there Drifblim. Whaddaya say, big man?>
    Drifblim is male.
    Chainy and I, along with our matching Staraptors soared through the skies on our way to the volcano. It was rather warm out right now after being pretty brisk this morning. I just now noticed how long we had been here, the sun was about at its peak in the sky, and when I got here it had been early in the morning, the sun just poking up over the horizon. I made a mental note to myself to take my hoodie off once we touched down on the ground.
    My mind began to wander as I thought about all the great Pokemon I had caught so far. After catching Skarmory, I called my friend up who was in the middle of a run at Meteor Valley and we worked out a deal, Sigilyph for a Gengar. Gengar were extremely powerful, professional level Pokemon who would help me greatly on my quest to become the champion. Once Gengar was with me, I had a great team of six, not even including my first two Pokemon, Buzz and Star.
    First there was Diddy, my Infernape. My lead man. Without a doubt, Diddy was my most powerful Pokemon. He had an extremely large pool of moves that found it hard for almost any Pokemon to perfectly counter him, and I would feel comfortable putting him one and one with any Pokemon out there.
    Then there was Kushy, the Sceptile. We haven't known each other very long, only a few weeks, but he was already coming a powerful battler. He, like Diddy, had a very large move pool not only for attacking but for setting up also. He's another Pokemon I would feel comfortable putting against any other Pokemon.
    Then of course, Skip. Skip is my Swampert who has been with me almost as long as Star and Buzz have. He has a great combination of power and defenses that allow him to stand up to almost anyone. He made an excellent pair with my next Pokemon, Sal.
    Sal is a Salamence that is great for switching into the Grass-type moves that Skip always gets hit with. Once he gets going he is near impossible to stop, and a raging Salamence is something that no trainer in the world wants to try and take down.
    Last but not least, Omega, my Metagross. Omega never speaks and doesn't get involved with the other Pokemon, but it has a love for battling. I know I said Diddy is my most powerful battler, but Omega is tied with him. He has won me all of my gym battles so far and has swept countless trainers in the short time I've had him.
    Gengar was going to fit in nicely, this made catching Sigilyph that much better. My thoughts were cut off when I heard a strange voice in my head.
    'Hey yo, Ed, it's nice ta speak with ya bro,' I became so startled that I almost fell off of Star. It was strange hearing a voice that wasn't mine or my mothers in my head, so I didn't know how to respond.
    "What?" I said out loud, surprisingly calmly.
    'Tha boss wants ta know whether yer intrasted in that there Drifblim. Whaddaya say, big man?' the voice responded. The strangest part of it all was that the voice sounded rather surfer-like.
    I was incredibly confused. Then I saw Chainy look back with a grin on his face, and something told me it was his Staraptor talking. It made sense, but I didn't see a Drifblim anywhere. Drifblim are incredibly rare Pokemon, and the only time I've ever seen one is outside the Valley Windworks once in a while. I looked down and saw a cloud that seemed to be coming closer to us. After a second or two, I realized it wasn't a cloud, it was the aforementioned Drifblim. I wanted to battle it, but I didn't know how to tell my ranger or his Staraptor, so I simply though 'yes'.
    I didn't know if Chainy got my message, so I was going to start battling this thing regardless. I began to weigh my options.
    Star didn't stand much of a chance, being a Normal-type, against a Ghost-type. The only way he would be able to damage this thing is with Brave Bird, Aerial Ace, and it's couple other Flying-type moves. As much as I would love to be on Star's back, right in the action with him, it wasn't the smart way to do this battle, so I decided I would take this battle to the ground and use Buzz.
    Before I took it to the ground, I would have to get the Drifblim to follow. I decided the best way to do this would be to piss it off, and then use Roost to get my self to the ground.
    I leaned over and got closer to Star's head, "alright, listen, use Quick Attack on that Drifblim there, then use Roost to bring it down to the ground. But when you use Roost, make sure you circle the Drifblim, causing it to panic and not be able to escape."
    Star nodded and took off towards the opponent. It was crazy to be in the battle for once, and not watching it. My hat flew off my head when we took off and as Star began to accelerate more and more, I felt the skin pulling back on my face and I couldn't even keep my eyes open. From there it was all feel. Quick Attack, being a Normal-type attack, doesn't effect Drifblim and other Ghost-types, it just goes right through them. I can honestly say that is the first time I've ever gone through a ghost. It felt weird to say the least. I could tell when we entered, because the weather got much much warmer, but I don't know if it was because of Drifblim's body heat or because of him being a hot air balloon. When we exited, Star immediately began to circle around his foe, slowly descending. I was starting to get dizzy from the circling, my stomach getting slightly queezy, and before I knew it, I vomited. I chuckled a little after though, and thought about how funny it would be if someone was down there and it landed on them. Star, me, and the Drifblim continued to slowly descend, and we eventually reached the cloud line.
    I could feel Ed's confusion through Broadblade, and it made me laugh. I always enjoyed people's reaction to my Staraptor's inner voice. Not many had heard it before - even Ivy and Buzz had not. I was waiting on the perfect time to surprise them, preferable when Buzz was holding a tub of yoghurt or something.
    Broadblade informed me that Ed intended to battle the Drifblim, so we wheeled around to watch. Ed and Star dove low, heading straight for the Drifblim. They didn't curve up, and I wanted to shout at them that Ghost types weren't non-solid all the time. Luckily, the Driflblim was insubstantial and the Staraptor and his Trainer passed straight through it. I held my breath and waited for them to appear on the other side of the Ghost-type. After a couple of seconds, they did, and they were heading for the blanket of clouds.
    "I bet Ed is looking for a place to land so he can battle," I murmured. I nudged Broadblade's flank and he too dove. We broke through the clouds and luckily for Ed a medium-sized plateau mountaintop was sticking straight up into the air. Star landed on the peak and Ed climbed off. The Drifblim moved slowly below the cloud, making an eerie low-pitched moaning sound. I could just see that its bulbous body was expanding slightly - no doubt it was preparing for battle. I decided to remain in the air - that way if there was any trouble I'd be able to intervene faster.
    It was quite strange going through the clouds; I have flown through clouds before, but only for a brief second. This time, Star and I spent a good ten to twenty seconds in the blanket of clouds. It was really damp and moist in the clouds, it made me wonder if that meant there would be rain soon, or if that's just how they always were.
    When we came out of the clouds, there was a plateau of a mountain not too far below us. Star gracefully landed and I jumped off, positioning myself a few feet behind my Flying-type, a typical battle stance. We were extremely high up, I almost felt as if I could touch the clouds that we had just came through. I looked up and saw Chainy and his Staraptor hovering just below the cloud line, getting a bird's eye view of what was set to be an interesting battle. I was a little upset that I wouldn't be able to consult Chainy for advice during the battle, but oh well.
    Drifblim was hovering half way between the cloud line and the plateau, making a low, eerie whining sound that sent chills down my spine. The Drifblim inhaled some air and it's large round body grew even larger. I recognized this as Stockpile, a move that raised the user's defenses, but also had some interesting side effects when paired with the moves Spit Up and Swallow. Spit Up would damage the opponent depending on how many times Stockpile was used, maxing out at three, while Swallow would heal the user depending on how many times Stockpile was used, also maxing out at three. I was sure I would see Drifblim using these moves not too long from now. Star didn't seem intimidated though, he spread his wings and let out a ferocious battle cry that stunned the Drifblim.
    I was hesitant to put Star into battle against the Ghost-type. Star's move-pool would be extremely limited against a Ghost-type, as Normal and Fighting type moves have no effect against them. Before I decided, I figured I should do some research on the Pokemon first.
    I pulled out my Pokedex and typed in "Drif". Drifloon and Drifblim's pages came up, so I typed in a 'b' and it took me directly to Drifblim's.
    "Drifblim, the Blimp Pokemon. Ghost and Flying type." My Pokedex read out loud. 'No shit', I thought to myself as it continued talking. "It can generate and release gas within its body. That's how it can control the altitude of its drift." My eyes shot wide open and it was like a light bulb went off in my head as I read this.
    If gas controls Drifblim's altitude, and gas can be effected by extreme temperatures, then I can manipulate Drifblim's gasses in it's body by using Buzz's Ice Punch and Fire Punch. Boom. But I wanted more info to go off of, so I went to Drifblim's move listings.
    "Constrict, Minimize, Astonish, Gust, Focus Energy, Payback, Hex, Stockpile, Swallow, Spit Up, Ominous Wind, Baton Pass, Shadow Ball, Explosion..." I read quietly to myself. There was nothing that caught my attention, I was already aware of the Stockpile/Swallow/Spit Up combination. Minimize could be a pain in the ass since it raises evasion, and Focus Energy could put my Pokemon at the wrong end of a devastating blow. Also, I had to watch out for Explosion, the last thing I wanted was this thing fainting on me. I continued reading it's extra moves it could possibly know.
    "Calm Mind, Toxic, Hidden Power, Sunny Day, Hyper Beam, Protect, Rain Dance, Frustration, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Return, Psychic, Double Team, Shock Wave, Facade, Secret Power, Rest, Attract, Thief, Skill Swap, Charge Beam, Endure, Will-O-Wisp, Silver Wind, Embargo, Recycle, Giga Impact, Thunder Wave, Gyro Ball, Psych Up, Captivate, Natural Gift, Dream Eater, Swagger, Substitute. Telekinesis, Round, Acrobatics, Cut, Defog, Flash, Fly, Body Slam, Destiny Bond, Disable, Haze, Hypnosis, Memento, Weather Ball, Clear Smog, Air Cutter, Icy Wind, Knock Off, Magic Coat, Mud-Slap, Pain Split, Rollout, Snore, Spite, Sucker Punch, Swift, Tailwind, Trick." I said quietly to myself again, except I realized I wasn't paying attention and was just reading, so I started to read again.
    "Calm Mind, Toxic, Hidden Power, Sunny Day, Hyper Beam, Protect, Rain Dance, Frustration, Thunderbolt-" I stopped mumbling and another light bulb went off in my head. Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt and all other Electric-type attacks were super effective against Star and dual Normal/Flying-types in general. The great thing about this is that with proper prediction and when teamed up with Buzz's Motor Drive, a trainer could completely screw himself over by using Electric-type moves against Star. Switching Buzz into Thunderbolts aimed at Star has won me countless battles in the past, so if I was able to outsmart those trainers, surely I could out smart a wild Pokemon.
    I shut my Pokedex and put it in my pocket, turning my attention back to the battle. I pulled Star's Pokeball out and held it in my left, also doing the same with Buzz's, but keeping it in my throwing hand. I enlarged both capsules, having them both ready to go. Hopefully this would work.
    "Star, use Tailwind and up your speed, then hit that thing with an Aerial Ace!" I called out.
    Star nodded and took off in the air, perfectly riding the wild air currents until he was moving twice as fast as usual. Then he flew up to just below the cloud line and began to charge towards the wild Pokemon. I held his Pokeball out and prepared to return him to his Pokeball.
    My plan was to return Star to his Pokeball just after his Aerial Ace hit, sending out Buzz in his place and taking what will hopefully be a Thunderbolt. Activating Buzz's Motor Drive ability, and when combined with the Tailwind that Star just set up, giving the Electivire ridiculous speed.
    Just as Star was about to make contact, I pressed the button to activate the return mechanism, hoping it would reach him right after he made contact, and I blindly chucked Buzz's Pokeball to where Star was.
    I watched from my position up high as Ed landed on the ground and dismounted his Staraptor. He pulled out his PokeDex and flicked through it as the Drifblim floated around, moaning and slowly expanding. I could almost hear him muttering as he was deciding on a move.
    What do you think he's doing, Broadblade? I asked my own Staraptor.
    <Ah dunnah, man, want me ta take a look?> he asked.
    That'd be good, I thanked him.
    All was silent for a couple seconds. I saw Star begin to flap his wings, but not take off the ground. I recognised this move from his battle with the Skarmory - it was Tailwind, a move that increased a Pokemon's speed. It was unique amongst speed-raising move in that it could affect more than just the current Pokemon.
    <'E reckons 'e's gunna Tailwind n Eral Ace befah switchen tah 'is Viyah,> Broadblade informed me.
    Cheers, I thought, and broke the link.
    I watched as the Staraptor finally launched into the air. He flapped towards the Drifblim, and as he got closer the ceiling of clouds split open. Bright sunlight shone down, bathing the entire plateau in sunlight. It didn't seem to bother Star, though. His wings began to glow bright white, and he flew straight past the Drifblim, bashing at the Ghost-type's body as he passed. I saw a thin red beam lance up towards Star, but before it made contact, the Drifblim lunged forward and crashed into the Staraptor. Before Star could even cry out, he was struck by the laser, and returned to his PokeBall.
    I looked back down towards Ed, and I saw that he'd released his Electivire. The Drifblim turned and registered the new threat. Black winds began to trail around around the purple Pokemon, obscuring it temporarily before blasting down towards the newly-released Buzz.
    OOC: I'm not sure but I think you missed Intimidate, and Tailwind isn't in Electivire's stats, unless I just didn't role play them well enough :x haha
    ______
    As Star came crashing down at the Drifblim, the blanket of clouds above us began to part like the Red Sea and the sun began to shine through, bringing down intense sunlight. I didn't know if this was due to Sunny Day or Mother Nature, but either way, I would have to use it to my advantage.
    As the red beam of light made its way towards Star, Drifblim charged at Star while cloaked in a faint purple and yellow aura that collided with the Aerial Ace attack, knocking back both Pokemon as the light made contact with Star and returned him to his Pokeball. I threw out Buzz's Pokeball and my Electivire appeared in Star's place, but just in time for Drifblim to launch an Ominous Wind attack.
    Best case scenario, I would be able to avoid the attack completely, and avoid the risk of Ominous Wind's side effect, which would increase all of Drifblim's stats. But it was too late for that, and I had to resort to something else.
    "Buzz, use Light Screen, quick!" I shouted out to my Electric-type.
    Buzz held his hands out infront of him and a pink, transparent wall appeared infront of him. The Ominous Wind attack hit the wall dead on, but some of it had managed to leak through and hit Buzz.
    After it hit, the Light Screen covered Buzz's body and he had an interesting shine to him, which would up his special defense. I knew it was time to retaliate now.
    I had to take advantage of the intense sunlight, before it went away. Since Fire-type moves' power were increased greatly in intense sunlight, I would use the sunlight to power up Buzz's Fire Punch attack. But there had to be something else I could do, also.
    That's when I remembered the Pokedex information about the gas inside Drifblim's body, and how it controls the altitude that the Ghost-type flies at. I knew from science that if the gas became colder, Drifblim's altitude would lower, and if the temperature of the gas became higher, then Drifblim's altitude would rise. My plan was to manipulate these gasses.
    First, I would order Buzz to use Ice Punch. He would leap up to the Flying-type, and strike it with his icy blue fist, possibly even freezing it. The rise in temperature, regardless of the freeze, would cause Drifblim to come lower to the ground. This would bring Drifblim up close and personal with Buzz, leaving it wide open for a vicious, white hot, sun boosted Fire Punch. Possibly Burning the dual Ghost/Flying-type, and sending him raising high in the air, putting him at an even greater risk of being burned if he gets too close to the sun. Also, if Drifblim was up close to the cloud line, and the sun went away, then he'd be extra vulnerable to a super powerful Thunder attack, but that would have to wait.
    "Listen up Buzz, hit that thing with Ice Punch first, alright? Hopefully that will bring it to the ground, then charge up a super strong Fire Punch and smack it as hard as you can!" I called out to my starter Pokemon.
    "Electi..." Buzz mumbled.
    He held his right fist at his side. It began to become cloaked in an icy-blue aura, with particles of ice starting to form on his knuckles. Even with the extra heat from the sunlight, the ice was not effected at all and I could still feel the coldness from the small, concentrated area. He leaped up in the air to the Drifblim and swung overhead at the dual Ghost/Flying-type. I couldn't tell if it made contact, but when he landed back on the ground, he got into a boxing stance.
    "Electi..." He mumbled once more.
    His right hand was at his side again, clenched tightly, as red hot flames began to burst from his knuckles. After getting chills from the Ice Punch, I began to sweat from the extra heat of this Fire Punch. The fire on his fist grew larger and stronger as the sun beamed down on it. Buzz got into a boxing stance and pulled back, preparing to put all his weight into the force of this attack.
    "VIRE!!" He shouted, as he thrusted not only his fist, but all his weight forward, wanting to do exactly what I asked and hit the Drifblim with all his might. I was extremely proud of the Electric-type.
