NBP#1

Ranger Ivy Frost

Ivy was sitting in the main work area of the Main Outpost when she got a beep from a text message received on her phone. She had enough of paper work for the day, so there was nothing else really to do. She was a little bored.

However, Chainy was currently amusing her. He must've been in here to try and work too, but she doubted he was getting anything done. His desk was two back and one to the right of hers, and she knew he was looking at her. She was kinda surprised he was, given the beatdown he got from her while he was eying up Elisa, one of the younger female Rangers. Maybe he thought she didn't notice.

Either way, she was playing off of it. She had to get her kicks in somehow.

She had propped her legs up on the desk and stretched out in response, leaning back and sliding down in her chair a bit to almost lay out fully. Part of her even hung off the chair. She also made sure to brush her long hair out from behind her back so it hung off the back of the chair and flowed down her front. She had heard that a lot of guys liked long hair, and since she had gotten many compliments about the wavy red locks, she figured she might as well test it out. She was pretty sure it was doing something. The guy hadn't stopped looking at her for the past hour.

She could barely see him out of the corner of her eye if she tilted her head just so, and she saw him trying to fill out his papers, but his gaze kept coming back. She smiled to herself. Sometimes it was a lot of fun. A few of the male Rangers looked at everything that moved.

She then remembered her text. She looked down at her phone and hit the correct button, and a message from Buzz popped up. It read: having fun showing off?

She laughed out loud, shaking her head as she replied. why, in fact, i am. u jealous?

She didn't get to hear what else he had to say because Angie, one of the secretaries working today with a cute brown-colored bob haircut, called out to her. “Oh, hey Ivy, a Trainer applied to go to the Gardens today. Can you take him?”

“Sure,” she called with a look back at her fellow Ranger. “I'm sure Chainy's real behind in his work anyway.” She grinned at him as she got up and adjusted her long red vest so it sat better, seeing the light dusting of red across his face as he rapidly shifted his head down and started scribbling away at the papers in front of him. She may be on the tough side, but sometimes it was nice to know she could still be thought of as a girl.

“Thanks, Angie,” Ivy said as she scanned the file from the secretary. It looked like a Trainer named Daniel would be her charge today.

She went to her office to collect her gear and knocked on Buzz's door as she passed on the way back out, ready to go work. Haji met her outside after she cleared the main doors, probably reading her thoughts and knowing they had another run. With a nod, the air around them rippled and warped, and when she looked again, the entrance of the Botanic Gardens stood in front of them.

She took a seat on the bench sitting outside the Outpost, and Haji jumped up next to her as they waited for their Trainer. She hoped it wouldn't be too hot for her black turtleneck. It was shaping up to be a nice day.

My hands rested on the Cold metal bar that sat in front of me, carefully placed as to not to caress the the back of the passenger in front of me. I looked to my left facing the slightly dirtied window and looked past the my faint reflection out onto the landscape outside, In the distance I could see A large glistening body of water, unsure of my current position I hazarded a guess that it may be the great lakes of the national park or the Botanic garden lakes. In the case of the latter it means I was approaching my destination soon, I rummaged through the satchel that rested on my lap to take inventory of my items, After finding a few balls, a couple of bottles of medicine I decided that I had everything that I will need for this trip.

I stiffened up my body as the bus took a sharp corner, in an attempt to overcome the centripetal force on my body and save the passenger sitting next to me an uncomfortable meeting. I could feel the muscles in my left side strain under the pressure, but that soon became irrelevant as my body soon righted itself, signalling the bus' return to straight driving. I looked out the window again and tried to gauge my position, after a while of examining the surroundings I soon came to the conclusion that I was nearing the gardens. The bus came to a halt at the next stop and I decided to get off here, placing the satchel over my right shoulder I signalled to the passenger sitting next to me to move, without saying a word they complied and moved into the aisle watching their own movements making sure as to not obstruct the other passengers.

I stepped out onto the bus platform staying clear of others entering the bus, adjusting my satchel so it sits right on my shoulder I looked ahead and realised that I still had a long walk ahead of me.

I unbuttoned the top button of my shirt after a while of walking realizing the heat outside. I should of anticipated this heat when I left my home, it was like this the last time I came to the botanic gardens. I looked around and remembered me walking down this same pathway a few months ago, eager for my first national park expedition. I thought back to my success in the last trip, and specifically remembered face palming myself with some of the decisions I made as I was new to the whole pokemon scene, but never the less I intend on having more success this time around especially with new tools and experience that I didn't have last time around. I could see the Botanic Gardens entrance up ahead of me.

I walked up the entrance feeling around on my waist checking to see if I brought my pokemon, because it occurred to me that I never really second checked before hand and it would be a bit embarrassing if I arrived without a single pokemon, luckily I found three pokeballs resting idly on my belt. I neared a bench outside the entrance and saw a women dressed in a black turtle neck and red vest sitting down on it, judging by her appearance I assumed she was my ranger this time around.

"Are you looking for me by any chance?" I said as I approached her

A vehicle drove up and stopped a little ways away from the Outpost, and Ivy noticed it was one of the newer buses. When they got enough applicants to the Park, they sometimes engaged the bus service to drop off and pick up Trainers when they could. Most of the time it wasn't very profitable, but recently there had been an influx of Trainers into the Park.

A guy walked up in a white shirt and blue jeans. He was a bit on the tall side and had shaggy brown hair. He was checking his belt currently, and she saw a relieved look come to his face as his hand found what he was looking for: three Pokéballs. She had a Trainer once tell her that they had nightmares about forgetting to take their partners with them.

Ivy watched as he approached, and then he said, “Are you looking for me by any chance?”

She smiled at him. “Are you Daniel? I'm Ivy. Nice to meet you. I'll be taking you through the Gardens.” She got up to shake his hand, and Haji jumped down off the bench too to rest against her leg.

“If you have any questions, let me know. If you'll follow us, we'll make sure you see some interesting things today. Lead the way, Haji.”

The purple cat-like Pokémon nodded, heading down the path to the Garden's gate. She opened it for the Trainer and closed it behind her, minding that it was shut good. She didn't want to chase wild Pokémon around the Outpost. Again.

They traveled down the only path they had so far, hedged with tall, wavy grasses that danced in the slight breeze. When they got to the split ahead in the path, she'd let Daniel decide which way to take.

“So, is there any specific Pokémon you're looking for?” she asked, trying to make light conversation. Until they got deeper into the Gardens, there wasn't much to look at. Right now all they had was grassy plains in all directions. The maze was coming up though, as well as the greenhouse and a few sections of trees.

Then, an acorn rolled out onto their path. Two raccoon-like eyes were pasted on its brown body, capped with a ringed gray acorn hat. Two little legs stuck out on the bottom, and it rolled enough to get them under it, looking up at them curiously.

“Hey, a Seedot,” she said, watching it carefully. River Tam, the Xatu of Buzz, one of her fellow Rangers, had been attacked by a Shiftry, a Seedot's final evolution stage. While these things were small and seemingly harmless, they could still be dangerous. “Any interest in catching this one?”

“Are you Daniel? I'm Ivy. Nice to meet you. I'll be taking you through the Gardens.” answering my question, she got up to shake my hand as she done this I now realised she was accompanied by a small purple feline I instantly recognised as an Espeon. The Espeon leaped off the bench and stretched it's body out, probably preparing itself for the trip ahead and then, and then rested against Ivy's leg waiting for her to get up as well.

“If you have any questions, let me know. If you'll follow us, we'll make sure you see some interesting things today. Lead the way, Haji.” at this command Ivy rose from the bench and followed the feline to the Botanic garden gates. The Espeons Stride was disrupted when we reached the gates, as it had to wait for Ivy to open the gate for him. Once through we entered onto a large grassy plain which I instantly recognised from my last visit, in the distance i could see small shapes on the horizon, most likely of the natural pokemon.

“So, is there any specific Pokémon you're looking for?” Ivy asked

"yeah, I'm prominently looking for a ferroseed and Cottonee today, I even bought the voice disks to help, even though they were at an outrageous price, I will however have an extra ball free afer so whatever else we see is gonna be by chance" As I said this I started crouching slightly examining the bushes that lined the path we walked along.

Bringing my head up and righting my body I Looked ahead and saw a large wall of Grass ahead of me, I figured this must be the large Garden maze, I remember seeing it on my last trip but we never went there. Soon without noticing i realised Ivy and Haji had stopped, I managed to stop my body before i bumped into Ivy, I walked up by her side and noticed why we had stopped. lay before us was a small spherical pokemonthat tried to wiggle itself onto it's small stubby feet.

“Hey, a Seedot, Any interest in catching this one?" Ivy asked.

I looked at the small fumbling pokemon and remembered A battle with a shiftry a while ago, While in battle I recall seeing it as a useful pokemon, but I decided against it, saving my spare pokeball for something i would use better.

"no thanks, I'd have no use for one, I'll just use a pokedoll I got in one of those bundle deals that the Shop was doing a while ago" I quickly Threw the pokedoll to the other side of the bushes in which The seedot quickly followed. "while I'm in my bag I might as well use one of those disks I bought I looked in my bag and saw the two disks lying there, I pondered on what disk to use, pulling out the Player i decided just to grab the closest one to my hand, Putting it into the player without looking I listened to what disk i put in, after a while of static, the sound of a ferroseed rung out, happy with what fate had given me I signalled to Ivy to continue on

“No thanks. I'd have no use for one. I'll just use a Pokédoll I got in one of those bundle deals the Shop had a while ago.”

Ivy nodded. “Alright, let's try to get around it first, and if not, a doll should distract it just fine.”

They did as she indicated, trying to slide around it. However, it made a frustrated sound and rocked violently back and forth. Ivy paled a little, knowing that these guys had a tendency to blow up at will. She didn't want any of them to get hurt. She turned back toward Daniel to retrieve the Pokétoy he handed her.

She set the squishy pink object on the ground in front of her and used her foot to edge it closer to the acorn-like Pokémon. Thankfully, it became engrossed with it, rolling forward a few times into the bouncy thing. Then it rolled enough to knock it into the bushes, and it trailed off after it. Ivy breathed a sigh of relief as it disappeared.

They continued on down the path as the grass grew a little higher to reach about their waists. Daniel stopped to press the button on his Poképlayer, sending the cry of a Ferroseed into the grasses. She waited a moment before continuing down between the grass rows, hoping one would show up.

A rustling stopped her eventually, the sound shaking the bushes around them. First it was behind, then it moved way ahead, and then it was right to their left. Haji wasn't tense, so she knew it was okay. They quietly waited, and soon the noise maker appeared.

“Patrat!” something said as it peeked its head out of the bushes. It was mostly brown with a cream colored belly and lower face. A big buck tooth sat under red and yellow striped eyes, and it was looking at them curiously. This only happened a few seconds at a time though, as it kept scanning back and forth down either path direction, occasionally glancing back into the grass it came from.

“Well, here's another one Daniel.” She knew Patrat was a bit common, but since it showed up, it was her job to ask. “What about this one?”

We continued to walk down the path, soon the grass that lined the paths had slowly begun to move in on us and rise in height, to the point are waists down were lost to the flora. I could feel the various blades of grass slip up into my trouser legs, causing them to create a small but persistent annoyance. I almost begun to bend down to tuck my trousers into my socks but halfway into my descent common sense kicked in, all it would do is give me a face full of grass so I decided to bear through it. I raised my hand out of the grass bringing with it the pokeplayer just in case the grass muffled the sound.

Soon I could see Ivy motioning her head in different directions, as if she was looking for something. Focusing my eyes I could see what was the problem, there was a rustling in the grass slightly to the left of us I perked my head hoping to find a ferroseed in that rustling spot. But soon the rustling had stopped and moved far ahead of us. My hopes of finding a ferroseed at that spot had been dashed as I knew a ferroseed could never move that fast. out of the rustling spot ahead of us a small rodent like pokemon with some of the ugliest eyes i've ever seen pooped.

“Well, here's another one Daniel, What about this one?” If i wasn't going to get the seedot I wasn't going to get a patrat.

"No thanks, I could easily get one of these anytime, Lets just continue, but if it proves to be pesky Just use one of the pokedolls out of this package"

Daniel declined the Patrat like she thought he would. The thing didn't pay them much attention though. It was too busy scanning the road, patrolling for something. In a few minutes it disappeared back where it came from, and eventually the clacking of the long grasses stopped as it got too far away for them to hear.

They continued on as the Trainer's disk called out again the screechy sound of a Ferroseed. Hopefully one of those would turn up. She hated when Trainers couldn't find what they were looking for. She liked having successful runs.

They continued down the path, occasionally hearing snaps of twigs and brushes of grass. Nothing came out on their path though, and they made it to a small grove of trees before she heard another sound. She motioned with her head or them to peak over the bushes. She pulled back a few braches as they investigated what was going on, and they found a small clearing shaded by the foliage above.

Small beams of light trickled down in the leaf gaps, and the rays shone down on a cream-colored Pokémon with leaves growing out of it and brown socks on its feet. It looked like a fox, and had big golden eyes. It was currently rolling on the forest floor, much like a cat, soaking up rays and getting small twigs and dirt on it.

As soon as it caught sight of them it stopped, rolling around to lay on its stomach with its feet tucked under it. It tilted its head toward them in a curious motion. Haji poked his head through the bushes and made a sound toward its fellow Eeveelution, and the Leafeon called back cheerfully.

“Hey, Leafeon is sort of a rare sight. Want to try catching it? Or if you'd rather leave it be, you could always take a picture if you have a camera,” Ivy said.

The patrat had thankfully allowed us to continue on our path, for a moment I was afraid that My bag was beginning to be too light for me to handle....

The long grass was beginning to taper into a more acceptable height for walking, in the bushes beside us it was clear that pokemon were around us, as the occasional chirp and cry would sound out, but they would not show themselves, either they couldn't care less or they were repelled by the odd sound coming out of the machine I carried along with me. looking down on the digital display I could see the number two flicker, indicating the amount of plays left until the end of the disc, at this realisation my head decided to go on scout mode vigorously scanning the surroundings.

Ivy or Haji, I don't know how it's happening with those two, had lead me to a small group of trees that created a somewhat wooden wall in our path. I started looking around for other ways around only to be interrupted by the sight of Ivy pulling back a branch that hung off a nearby tree and showing a way through.

Walking through this passage I noticed that this wasn't a wall of trees but a small grove. in the middle of this group of trees was a small feline pokemon of a similar stature to haji. Looking down to Haji I could see He made a connection with the pokemon that I recognised as a leafeon.

“Hey, Leafeon is sort of a rare sight. Want to try catching it? Or if you'd rather leave it be, you could always take a picture if you have a camera, Ivy said, hinting to the fact I could make easy money.

I pulled my Bag over to my front and reached into it, pushing past the balls to find the camera, Pulling it out I kneeled down on one Knee and took the picture of the Leafeon using the ambient light to make the picture look perttier.

Once I had dispensed the camera back into my bag I raised the player up and whacked it in an attempt to either knock some success into it or to punish it for it's failureness!

Daniel took her latter suggestion and pulled out his camera, getting down on his knee in order to line up a perfect shot. The light falling made great background, and the Leafeon seemed to glow. At the exact right moment, it did another one of those rolling curls into the dirt, and the Trainer snapped the picture as it was looking up cutely. That one was sure to impress someone back at the Main Outpost. There were a few collectors that liked shots of rare Pokémon.

The kid put his camera away and then rose his Poképlayer up to eye level. He then smacked it, maybe to encourage it to give him the results he wanted. Ivy hoped so too, and even Haji was starting to agree. Seeing the Eeveelution in the wild had put him in a good mood since he normally didn't comment about stuff like that.

“Alright, hopefully it works now,” she said, trying to be cheerful. She then led them on through the trees as the Leafeon decided to go back to wherever it had been staying.

It was just a small forest, but there were definitely enough trees, she thought. Instead of the bulky ones with branches she constantly had to brush away, these ones were thinner and smoother with foliage more toward the top. There were a lot of vines though, and the canopy blocked out a lot of the light, giving them a bit of shade.

A vine patch shifted in the wind above her, and it took her a second to realize that through all the trees, there was no wind in this section. She looked at the blob again, and it shook, as if it knew she was watching. Puzzled, she reached up to touch it. There was a shriek, and then the form plopped down onto the path in front of her.

The mass rolled over, and she finally caught sight of two large, white eyes looking up at her. The blue-tinted spaghetti ball made a noise as it moved, rolling up onto its red shoes.

“Tangela!” it said.

“Well, that was unexpected,” Ivy replied, turning back to Daniel. “What about a Tangela? I hear those are a little rare.”

The leafeon skitted off into the bushes nearby now that it's 15 seconds of fame were up, allowing us to pass further into the small forest. The trees that made up the forest were unlike the ones at the beginning as they were more stringy, thinner at the base and almost erupting in branches and leaves at the top.

“Alright, hopefully it works now,” Ivy said signalling for Haji to continue into the forest, It better I thought to myself, if this was my luck then I questioned my chances of getting cottonee.

As we got further in the forest Vines started to become more and more present, looking around I thought about the chances of finding a ferroseed in here. Unless they have secretly adopted the ability to swing about on vines it was not likely that one would be here. I looked up to the tree tops and realised the trees didn't actually reach that far up.

I could see Ivy brushing past the vines that hung down from the trees, only to be stopped by a sudden movement. Looking up I could see an oddly clustered bunch of vines. her hands extended up to the the cluster to investigate only to be retracted in a surprised manner.

at the contact the cluster had dropped to the floor, and begun moving in a manner similar to the old horror movies. Turning around to show it's obstructed eyes we could see it was a tangela.

“Well, that was unexpected, What about a Tangela? I hear those are a little rare.” Ivy chimed, I looked at the vine-y pokemon and thought about capturing it, but I saw no need for one so i brushed the thoughts away.

"no thanks let's continue and try and prove this things worth the money I spent on it" I replied while Pointing to the machine in my hand. "but if that thing proves pesky I am willing to use something out of theses packages"

The Tangela moved on without much of a fuss, which she was grateful for. Since Daniel's disk wasn't working, they might as well not use up all his dolls too.

They moved through the forest smoothly after that, avoiding the dangling vines and other foliage that got in the way. Haji took the lead then, and since the forest floor was mostly empty, it was simple to follow him. They just had to get through this patch of trees and into the next forest section, and then they'd be almost to the garden maze. She knew a lot of different Pokémon tended to hide in there, so maybe what the Trainer was looking for could be lurking there.

The passed the palm-like trees and entered into the rougher woods. The underbrush was thicker here, and waist high bushes made it a little harder to walk. Suddenly, Haji stopped in his tracks, causing Ivy to almost trip over him as she flailed. The Espeon ducked down onto the ground and put his two front paws over his nose with a twisted look on his face.

Then, the horrid smell hit the Ranger, and she had to hide her nose in the crook of her arm. “Ugh, I know what that is,” she muttered, her voice muffled from her shirt.

Despite her better judgment, she leafed through some of the bushes to her left and found the source. A blueish, bipedal plant-like Pokémon was on the other side, sporting a flowered top with a sickly yellow smog coming from the center of it. There was drool dripping from its mouth, and it looked up at them with squinted eyes.

Ivy coughed a bit. “Well, would a Gloom be any use to you?”

The Clustered ball of Vines looked at us cautiously studying what to do, but with a flick of it's vines it wobbled over to the tree that it hung from before and begun it's ascent.

Haji then started walking deeper into the forest, signalling for us to move on. the forest from this point onwards was empty, the pokemon either not being here or choosing not to interact with us. We passed through this of the forest and swiftly moved into the more denser part of the forest. It was alot more harder in this part to scout out the surroundings than it was in the last part, so instead of me looking out for one, I had to rely on one coming to us.

Suddenly my nose started to get this strange sensation in it as if something odd-ish was in the air. I looked to Ivy to see if she was having the same feeling but as I turned to her I could see her stumble over something in front of her, probably Haji. soon the odd-ish smell became a vulgar smell as we realised the source of the scent.

“Ugh, I know what that is,” Ivy remarked, voice muffled by the black turtleneck. Looking through a few leaves we could see a blue drooling pokemon, the ugliness that was gloom....

“Well, would a Gloom be any use to you?” Ivy spat up, while coughing.

"No, probably not, I probably couldn't handle the smell most of the time" I said pointing my nose in a different direction. "let's leave it be and hope our luck is good in finding a ferroseed, but if gloom doesn't want us to go just throw a doll or something at it"

I looked to the pokeplayer whose sound was fading indicating it's time was almost up. While looking through the transparent disc case watching the disc revolve round and round, I pondered on the thought if Ferroseed actually had ears...

Daniel passed on the Gloom, which she totally understood. She wasn't sure she'd be able to handle that smell all the time either.

Thankfully, it didn't try to attack them or keep them around. It was content to let them pass, and that's exactly what they did. The Trainer's Poképlayer gave one more cry before the thing abruptly shut off, automatically opening to eject the disk. Ivy hoped the thing would work, although the Players only had a limited range, so it was never guaranteed that playing a disk would call out the Pokémon.

They got through the rest of the forest easy enough, and the expansive garden maze loomed next in front of them. The hedges were well trimmed, and for a second she wondered what poor staff member got assigned to come out here and do the work. Knowing her luck, she would probably get signed up to do it on a slower day.

The greenhouse was also in there somewhere among the twisted rows. There was another, quicker, way to get to it though, in case a Trainer chickened out at the maze entrance. There were all sorts of Pokémon that hid inside these walls though, so she thought it'd probably be a good idea to check it out. They weren't going to get lost since she pretty much knew her way around, and if they did get stranded, she could always ask Haji to teleport them out. Still, it was her job to ask since she mostly let the Trainer dictate which way they went, barring hazards.

Just as she turned around to ask him where they were headed, a pink form swooped down in between the two people. It looked at her cutely while hovering, doing a small backward flip and tilting its head. Then it looked at Daniel and giggled, bobbing in the air and covering its face cutely. “Mewmewmew,” it said, and Ivy smiled.

“Hi there,” the Ranger said to it before looking past it to Daniel. “Do you want to go in the maze or avoid it?”

The gloom walked off into the forest somewhere letting us go past freely. The forest's foliage and undergrowth soon started to dissapear until the point we entered into the outside. Ahead of us we could see the large Grass maze, Looking impressively neat and tidy.

We walked towards the maze entrance, looking down the large rows and columns I could just see the many different breakoffs and pathways inside. I just hope Ivy knows her way around these parts, because I certainly don't. Arriving up at the large metal holsters that held up the large bushed archway I looked down to my pokeballs and hoped they would get a chance to fight soon.

Ivy turned to me at the gates and opened her mouth as if to speak, until A pink body flew through us leaving a tingling senstaion in it's wake. Looking up at the pink mouse like pokemon I recognised it as mew. At this sight I recalled my last encounter with it, but that time I saw it over the lake, Whether it remembered me or not I didn't know.

“Hi there,” Ivy said acknowledging the legendary pokemon, the Mew nodded back scrunching it's face in amusement, the odds were it probably recognised Ivy more than it did me, since it must interact with rangers often. “Do you want to go in the maze or avoid it?”

"Let's take the maze, I have another Mon to get" At this command I pulled out My camera knowing that pictures of legendaries can go for high prices, unfortunately I did not have one the first time I came across it, so it'll be nice to get one now. after snapping the shot I put the camera back in my bag and coming out with my other voice disk.

"lets see if this has better luck than the other one labelled Cottonee" I remarked while flipping open the case and releasing a sound more soothing than the harsh sound of the ferroseed

 

(OOC: Getting a disk isn't a guarantee I guess, since its only ten percent. Worst part is that your disk breaks too, but I'm going to wait to remove it from the stats.)

“Let's take the maze. I have another mon to get,” he replied. Ivy agreed, he had three Pokémon to get technically, if he had any interest in taking out the set limit. Sometimes Trainers had to settle for whatever showed up instead of the prize they sought. That's just how it went.

Daniel paused to take a picture, and then Mew flew off, maybe to bounce on its shiny pink bubbles or perhaps wander the rows of the greenhouse. As the Trainer returned his camera to his bag, he pulled out a new disk for his Player. He pressed play, and this time the sound that came out was much nicer on the ears than the screechy sound of a Ferrothorn. This one she recognized as the voice of a Cottonee. It was a really popular choice lately, as everyone seemed to want one.

She waited a second for the call to finish before moving on into the maze, hoping this disk would be a little more useful or that they'd actually stumble across something he was interested in. It seemed it was only looking for specific types of rare Pokémon, so this could be challenging.

She led them through the iron gate and down the first corridor, taking them past the small stone statue of a Tropius sitting next to a Park Ranger. She turned the corner with little trouble, minding the neatly trimmed walls and the occasional pile of leaves or branches on the path. They came to a hollowed out section arranged in a cut out rectangle, and a pink mass moved as they almost passed it.

“Exeggcute!” it cried.

“Alright, here's the next one. What's the verdict?”

OOC: I'm sorry I'm not doing any battling

Ivy and Haji Lead me through the Bushed arch of the Maze as soon as the legendary mew had flitted off. We started walking off into the maze proceeding down the first corridor of bushes. To our left there was a small statue, or monument if it had any importance. It depicted a ranger leaning against a large tropius, probably this was here to symbolise the connection rangers had with pokemon, but I wouldn't know. Looking through the small holes in the bushed walls I could see on the other side, only slightly though but enough to see some movement from an unknown pokemon. I thought about what Kind of pokemon I would find here in the maze and thought about which kind of pokemon I would like to capture in place of the lost ferroseed. Inspired by the statue from earlier I felt the need to capture a tropius if we get the chance to encounter one.

the path Ivy took led us to a rectangular patch of ground cut into the maze probably to allow space for eventual battles that can take place here. Ivy, not seeing any pokemon in this area walked on into another corridor but was stopped by the cry of a pokemon jumping out of the hedges. The small bunch of oval shaped pokemon started jumping on the spot in happiness.

“Alright, here's the next one. What's the verdict?” at this point i started to feel bad for Ivy, it was her job to take me through the park and I'm just walking through not doing anything, I don't know how it affects her, maybe it docks her pay or something, but I knew for one thing I'm probably taking enjoyment out of it.

"Sadly, No I have no use for one, If I ever did I could get one from the mart, sorry, let's just keep going and use one of my pokedolls which seem to be neglected"

Slightly annoyed at how this expedition was turning out, I reached down to my belt and grabbed the one furthest to my left. Bringing it up I pushed the button which in turn released a red energy. within seconds a Roserade appeared in front of me, my Scarlet.

"Ok Scarlet, todays not been going good, lets see what you can do to help, use sweet scent." At this command the Roserade lifted her bouquet hands into the air and started shaking them which in turn released particles into the air. It was well known that the move sweet scent had the ability to attract pokemon to the user, I just hoped it would be the right pokemon.

Daniel had a Mart that he could get an Exeggcute at, so he wasn't interested in trying to catch this one. Sometimes that elusive Pokémon was just never to be found. She knew of a few Trainers that had come to the Park on many, many runs in order to find just one specific Pokémon.

The Trainer's disk cried out again, and seemingly to help it out, Daniel hit one of the balls on his belt, releasing a bipedal plant Pokémon. She had two different colored boquets on the ends of her arms, one in red and one in blue. She looked at her Trainer in question.

“Okay, Scarlet, today's not been going good. Let's see what you can do to help. Use Sweet Scent.”

At one the flower Pokémon rose her hands into the air and shook them, causing pollen to fall into the air as a mist formed. There were reports that the smell attracted Pokémon to the user, so she hoped something would come up.

They tried to move past the batch of eggs, but unfortunately, the Exeggcute was interested in the Sweet Scent too and began following them as they continued down the path. Without saying anything, Daniel handed her one of the pink fluffy tails from his Escape Package. Ivy quickly tossed it at the wild one, and it seemed to due the trick. Engrossed with the tail, the Exeggcute didn't follow them further.

The sound of a fountain splashing was noticeable past the grass walls, and she wondered how far they were from it. Sometimes other Pokémon came for water there, and there was a chance that they could find something Daniel wanted. There was also the greenhouse option too, as that wasn't too far away either.

A soft cry of a Pokémon sounded above her, and she had to cover her eyes as she looked up to the top of the wall since the sun was shining so bright. From the other side of the thick hedge came a blue and white puff floating gracefully over into their corridor. It had three cotton-like orbs that looked like they were keeping it floating, and the round, blue body was animated by small beady red eyes.

“Jumpluff!” it said as it landed in front of them on the path. It took a second to close its eyes and sniff the air, a smile coming to its face as it rose up and then sunk back down at the sensation.

“Well, here's the next contestant, Daniel. What do you say?”

Unfortunately it seemed Scarletts Sweet scent was far too effective, because instead of attracting more pokemon instead it casued the exeggcute to want us to stick around, at this realisation Ivy used one of the escape items that I had given to her earlier to shake the pesky eggs off our back. The pink fluffy tail flew through the air and with it the exeggcute, I watched as the multiple small eggs fought over the tail.

from the corner of my eye I could see Ivy walk on ahead, deciding to let the domestic dispute pass I started to follow her into the next corridor, I turned to Scarlet and made sure she knew that we were moving on. I decided to keep Scarlet out of her ball for when we find a worthwhile pokemon, since I was planning on using her as a lead anyway.

the sound of rushing water sounded through the bushes I guessed that because we were quite a distance away from any body of water that it was some sort of water fountain. A slight gust of wind swept through the bushed corridor and with it a spherical pokemon floated down in front of us judging by the cotton spores that lined it's body I knew that it was a jumpluff.

“Well, here's the next contestant, Daniel. What do you say?” Ivy said adding a small sense of comedy to the moment. I was annoyed that it would be this hard to find what I wanted and at this point I was willing to take what I could get but not anything I could get at the mart.

"no sorry not this one either" I sighed looking to Scarlet apologetically hoping she wouldn't be annoyed at a lack of battle. "you know what to do if we have trouble

“No, sorry, not this one either,” he said a little apologetically, and Ivy just nodded. She understood the disappointment of not finding what you're looking for.

The Jumpluff didn't seem too interested in battle, so the Ranger didn't think it was going to give them any trouble. It sniffed the air again before letting itself float upward, bobbing toward them. It wobbled and weaved in the air toward the Roserade.

“Easy, Daniel, I don't think it means any harm,” she said, just in case he instructed his Pokémon to attack.

Daniel listened and just watched while the Jumpluff got closer. It inspected the Roserade and floated up, inhaling the scent from the bouquets with deep lungfuls. It happily cried out and departed after that, bobbing against the foliage wall until it rose high enough to float over again.

They followed the path onward into a small clearing, this one sporting two stone benches and an overgrown flower patch. It looked like someone either wasn't doing their job or couldn't find the place. She supposed they had taken several turns and split paths at this point, so it wasn't so unrealistic.

She was inspecting the dying flowers when one of the stems started to move, waving back and forth. Then, a bulb popped up out of the roughage, and a yellow and brown striped seed flew toward them. Bright, eager eyes showed as it bounced up and down on the ground. Ivy shook her head a little. While somewhat rare, Sunkern were not really sought after due to their poor battling capabilities.

“Oh, hey, a Sunkern,” she said without too much enthusiasm. She hoped her Trainer's Pokémon weren't getting too restless. “Yes? No?”

It seemed the jumpluff was not eager to battle as it just allowed to pass, but not before it floated towards Scarlet. The rose pokemon lifted up it's bouquets ready to counter what the Jumplufff was planning.

“Easy, Daniel, I don't think it means any harm,” I nodded in response to Ivy's command and turned to Scarlet and signalled to her to lower her guard. Ivy must've sensed Scarlet was getting up tight due to the lack of action we've had today. The jumpluff floated towards the bouquets on Scarlets hands sniffing at the remnants of her previous sweet scent. After gaining a nosefull of the sweet smell the jumpluff carried on floating through the mazes.

Ivy started to walk through the rest of the maze and I followed. we remained unhindered until we got to a small clearing. the clearing appeared to be a rest stop for other trainers and their rangers as the clearing housed two small stone benches and a flower patch. looking around it seemed this part of the maze had been untouched for a while, the flower patch had withered and the stone benches were chipped at the edges.

I saw Ivy crouch down to the flower patch tending to the flowers that lay there ignored. I started to walk to one of the stone benches until I saw Ivy jump back in surprise. nestling in the flower patch was a sunkern.

“Oh, hey, a Sunkern,” Ivy said turning to me "Yes? no?"

"probably not" I sighed in response, there will be something in here that i'll like I'm sure of it. "let's just keep going but use a pokedoll if need be"
