Ranger Jake​

Ethan looked sad. We continued along the path and it got thinner and thinner, the bushes encroaching on our smapce mor often than not now. I saw a few bug pokemon in a tree off the trail playing a game.

"Tch-ttttt!" I looked to my right and sitting on top of a bush was a Cascoon. Its happy eyes told me that it wanted to play with us. It jumped off of the bush and landed down in front of us.

"You want a Cascoon?"

I was desperate to get any Pokemon, and the cute little Cascoon was appealing to me, so I decided I would get it. But first, I pulled a PokeBall out and turned to Starlight.

"You are going to be to strong against a Cascoon." I explained.

"Star." Starlight replied, nodding with agreement. So I pressed the button, and Starlight turned into energy and was sucked away.

"Go Evelyn!" I cried, and with a flash of light, my Flareon landed on the grassy route.

"Eon Fla?" She asked.

"I want you to use Ember on that Cascoon!" I commanded. Evelyn looked down and nodded. A ball of brilliant orange, red and yellow flames formed in her mouth, and I hoped it didn't set fire to any trees. Once it reached it's full size, Evelyn spat it out, sending the glowing fire ball towards the bug.

 

Ranger Jake​

Evelyn breathed brilliant magenta and orange flames towards the shell of silk. The flames licked cruelly on the small Pokemon, but it jumped out of the way of the way of the Flareon and shot a string of supersticky silk towards the small catlike Pokemon. Before Flareon could leap out of the way, the webbing was wrapped around er paws and body, restricting her movement. The Cascoon looked jubilant that the move had worked but determined to defend itself.

I watched as the Ember hit Cascoon. The bug retaliated by firing back a String Shot, and Flareon was tied up.

"Flare!" She moaned, and stared down at the string, knowing I would be slower. I looked at Cascoon, and I had learnt from my mistakes, so I knew using Ember was a big mistake!

"Alright then, use your Quick Attack and overcome your speed delay!" I commanded. Evelyn nodded, and she flashed a brilliant white, and then ran forwards, becoming a red and yellow blur, charging for Cascoon

Flareon was smart. As she blasted towards the small pokemon, she expected that she might hurt it too much and faint it like Starlight had done before. Instead of takling full on, she merely raked her claws against Cascoon and then jumped back to see her work.

However, she over compensated. CAscoon looked barely hurt by the small scratch although it was still recovering from the super effective Ember atttack. It looked like now that it had set up, now it wanted to go on the offensive. It sparang up and hurled itself at Flareon whiche hurt more than you would think due to the spines riddling the Cascoon's body. Evelyn would have been able to dodge if her feet werent so sticky.

I was a bit dejected: the Quick Attack hadn't done as much damage as I has hoped. However, it had done about ten percent damage, and that was the sort of damage I would need if I wanted to capture Cascoon.

"Evelyn, use that Quick Attack again, and try to make it hurt more!" I ordered. Evelyn nodded, and she glowed whtie and sped forwards. She wasn't hurt from Cascoon's attack, and was able to run at full speed.

Flareon looked determined and ran full on at Cascoon hitting it head on this time. Cascoon was smashed against a tree and bounced back onto the ground. It looked really weak. It opened one eye and tried to attack, but couldn't pull it off.

"I would throw a ball now."

I smiled and nodded.

"Godo job Evelyn, you have done well!" I said, and pulled the Superball out of my pocket. The Cascoon's eyes widened, but I quickly threw the ball, not wanting to give him any chance to escape after all this time.

"Please capture... please...." I whispered, as I knew I had to catch it

The Superball flew through the air and tapped Cascoon. Clicking open, it transformed it into a shapeless glob of translucent red light. The ball viciously rocked back and forth for what seemed like hours. Eventually, it clicked and briefly glowed red, indicating that the capture was successful.

"Congratulations!"

I whooped and cheered, and I gave Evelyn a huge hug.

"We did it, we did it, we finally caught a Pokemon!" I yelled, and ruffled up Evelyn's yellow fur.

"Flareon Flare Flare!" She huffed, a bit annoyed at having her fur played with, but she was happy to have succesfully caught a Pokemon, and her eyes twinkled with pride, while a tear streaked down mine. I quickly wiped it away, and then I grabbed the Superball. A Cascoon was now inside, and I wandered if it knew I was his trainer now.

"I'll call him... Equinox!" I explained, and attached the ball to my pocket. Evelyn nodded, impressed with the name. I looked over at Jake and smiled widely.

"Can we keep going please?"

We continued along the trail. The trees were now towering above our heads and buzzing with life. There were several Pokemon that I might’ve stopped and shown to Ethan, but they all were moving so fast.

FInally I spotted a Volbeat humming in a tree to itself, its tail flashing to the beat.

“I guess you don’t want that. You’ll need a Hyper Ball to catch it.”

I looked at the Volbeat, whose tail was flashing beautifully in the dim light. I did want to catch it, but as I couldn't, there was no point wasting time.

"Sorry little Volbeat!" I apologised. Evelyn smiled at the Volbeat as well, before walking up to my side, afriad of some of the noises she could hear

"Yeah, I guess now you know. Next time you'll bring some Hyper Balls." I felt kinda sorry for Ethan. He really wanted a lot of the Pokemon we had seen this time. Some people would have killed for a Slaking. I shook my head and we kept walking, hoping that the next Pokemon would be Basic.

I saw a wierd vine sticking out of a bush. It was pretty thick and spiraled at the end but the wierd thing was that it was cream colored and brown at the spiral. Ethan noticed it too and decided to poke it. It suddered and withdrew into the bush.

Ethan and I looked at eachother with bewildered looks. Suddenly, a Meowth jumped yowling out of the bush and scratched Ethan on the face before landing on the path in our way looking angry.

I looked at the cuts in Ethans face and put a band aid on them. They weren't that bad. Then I considered the Meowth.

"Do you want it?"

I had been thinkng about the Pokemon I had missed out on, and I hadn't noticed the strange coloured vine until it tucked into the vines.

"What the-" I began, but suddenly a Meowth leapt out, and it began clawing at my face!

"Flare!" Evelyn cried, and ran forwards. I screamed, and the Meowth landed on the floor. Jake pput a bandaid on a scar, and I let out a sob.

"I'd prefer if we kept going on, I have never liked those evil Meowths!"

As Ethan rejected it I winced. It would be hard to convince th Meowth to leave.

“Star Roar.”

Star opened her mouth and let out a disproprtionately loud roar tht echoed deeply across the forest making it go briefly silent. Meowth blinked and then quickly scurried off the trail to escape Star. It was surprisingly easy.

No sooner had we started walking again, did we run into another Pokemon. A Butterfree flew out onto the path infront of us intent on reaching the other side but stopped and decided to stare at us instead.

“You can’t catch this either, let’s leave it.”

I smiled up at the Butterfree, as the purple flying bug type had been one of my favourite Pokemon since I was a child.

"Sorry Butterfree, I can't catch you, but I would have been afraid of hurting you too badly as well." I explained. The Butterfree blinked at me and nodded. Evelyn was licking her lips, but I gave her a look. I imagined she was getting tired, but she still had full health, unlike Starlight, so I would keep her out for now.

We continued into the forest as the day fled. The forest got darker than usual and the night Pokemonbegan to prowl the wood, announcing their prescence with loud echoing calls and clicks.

I kept wary of the sides of the road and put my faith in Star to warn us of any dangerous Pokemon. We were nearing the center of the forest now, and the deepest and most populated landmark: The lake.

Suddenly a high pitched hum like a radio or TV malfuntioning filled the air and all other sounds dissapeared.

“Mrowrrr..” Star distresedly pawed at her ears as the sound grew. There was a soft pop as Luna appeared next to me with an astonished look on her face. She clenched as she attempted to become invisible again apperantly unable.

I whipped my arm out at Ace impeding him. Something was up and we didn’t want to run straight into it by stepping blindly. I flipped open some glasses in my pocket in my pockedt and pressed some buttons on the side before placing them on my face. These special glasses were nightvision goggles as well as aura readers. On the aura reader setting I looked ahead on the trail and saw a blinding concentration of powerful aura ahead. Something powerful was interrupting the powers of Pokemon.

I whipped off the glasses and stared towards where I had seen the aura. Suddenly, a glowing sphere appeared in front of us about 60 feet ahead of us. It pulsed pink and green and glowed brightly, emanating a warm wind that filled our noses with a smell of fresh green fields and running water. The forest guardian approached.

With all the howling and calling, I was becoming very scared. Evelyn was worried as well, and kept clsoe to my legs.

"I think something is up." I whispered, and stroked her fur reassuringly. I heard a pop, and saw a Gengar floating alongside Jake. I was about to commnet on it, but then I noticed something- a strange green glow, emitting from the lake.

"My god- it's a Celebi!" I gasped, and nearly toppled over in shock. The legendary Pokemon was hovering above the water, looking as beautiful as ever.

"Flare!" Evelyn said in awe, and both of us stared towards it.

As the glowing orb approached, I noticed that a Pokemon was below it, illuminated by the bright glow that emanated from the orb. A small Ekans, still a baby, followed below Celebi. They both approached and the orb dispersed, leaving the small glowing body of Celebi floating in front of us.

Celebi frowned at us and gestured lightly at the Ekans. I looked down at the small snake. It was crying and frowning in distress. As I glanced back at Celebi, she floated backwards slowly pointing at us.

“I-I think Celebi wants us to follow.”

I felt very bad for the poor baby Ekans, and wished I had brought my Arbok, Arabella, with me to comfort it. But then I heard Jake say something, and saw Celebi, trying to lead us somewhere.

"Well... ok then..." I whispered, and followed after
