World Domination Discussion (Expansion Possibility)

So I was wondering... Any prospects on getting started on a third forum? The more the merrier, right? I remember some forum denied letting us set up, PC I think, but it couldn't hurt to ask again a year later. PokeBeach seems cool too. Serebii is big. I don't know how active Marriland is, but if it's any, it could be nice. Pokemon-Online.eu would is another place, but I don't know if it would be their cup of tea. It probably would have been better to get this conversation started earlier this Summer, but oh well.

I think this is probably a better idea when BMG's Activity declines. I don't think it's necessary yet tbh.

Of course it's not necessary. The URPG is probably the longest standing and most successful Pokemon RPG in existence, and it doesn't have to be limited to two forums. It's a Manifest Destiny of sorts. It's something productive to do. Imagine if the URPG was eventually on every major Pokemon forum, and all the Pokemon fans knew of its existence. I think that sounds really cool.

I don't know what you mean by that, but the thing about ASB is that there is no connection at all. They are run independently from another and each has their own little differences. If you own a Larvesta on PE2K's ASB, you don't on Smogon's ASB (yes, they have one as well). It's two different accounts I believe.

Oh right I wasn't sure on it. But yeah I like Pokebeach, friendly place really. What other forums did you have in mind? Serebii could work but like you said too big. What about Smogon? Would it work somewhere like there...

Smogon is pretty intimidating, and I don't think it would be their thing, although I do like the mature community. Like I mentioned in a previous post, they have their own ASB, which is a subforum of a kind of larger project they have, which isn't really completely competitively oriented, although it kinda is... @[email protected] Probably best to avoid it, because I think our 'cultures' are completely different, I can kind of tell due to being an active member on both Smogon and URPG.

I'm not too sure about this.

When we expanded over to BMGf from Pe2K that time, people shifted their attention over to the new forum (especially URPG staff) - because attention was required on the new forum to train new URPG professionals. In response with this, original Pe2k people shifted over to the new forum instead. It's actually reasonably hard to split any attention over forums at all, because the community is actually pretty small, and the new forum will need a good amount of attention and help - which in turn makes the old forum suffer.

Are you sure? There were hardly any people on PE2K in the first place. Besides, there's no reason to believe the same thing will happen to a third forum in relation to BMG. Furthermore, how is that even a problem? Keeping all forums evenly balanced in terms of activity isn't really something to strive for. More members is the goal, and that will certainly happen on a new forum. This does not mean we will neglect any forum, we will work where we are needed.

The idea of us expanding again sounds cool. Although, I don't know much about the other forums since I've haven't been out of Pe2k or BMGf so I wouldn't know which ones would be best or beneficial for us to go to.

I'm honestly surprised this hasn't come up sooner. Why bother to wait for BMG activity to decline? If we expand, that decline will only slow. I'd also love to see URPG activity swell to a point where we barely have enough refs again =P

Also, as mentioned before about Staffing issues, we could probably expand the URPG staff if necessary. Theres definitely a few who are most likely up to the task. I'm confident we could make it work without being spread too thin.

This guy has got it goin' down! I agree with this. I am sure we can come up with a forum plan like you all did for BMG. Therefore, more expansion = more staff. For example, a Business like Walmart builds new stores. Therefore, more staff to run it like experience members like: ST/WTP -> Mods as well. That way we have a lot of coverage for activity outbursts!

If we can find a forum that would welcome the URPG then I say we go for it. There are a few members knocking around that I think would make good officials, and they could keep an eye on the current forums while all the big bods go off and settle the new forum.

Another thing about some people wanting to wait until BMG activity dies down. If that happens, we most likely won't have the staff necessary to manage both forums in such a situation. The time to expand is NOW, while we still have the resources =P

Well if we wanna go ahead with this. What forum do people feel is best then? I haven't been to any others. Pokebeach, I've joined there before and it was a friendly atmosphere. Smogon is like competitive like Pidge said. Could cause problems. Serebii, is too big to handle but might work there.

Hmm... I looked through our options a bit and honestly, Pokebeach seems to be our best bet. I wouldn't go for Smogon just yet and I don't really like Serebii =P
Pokebeach seems to be active and get a good amount of traffic, but not TOO much, as in Serebii's case.

I vote Pokebeach.
