Special Rule:
After Pokémon are sent but before the FFA begins, each Pokémon privately receives a random item from the 'Battle Hold Items' section of the PokéMart (excluding Choice items, Assault Vest, Mail, and Berries with no in-battle effect). In addition, every Pokémon knows Switcheroo.

A quick FFA! Only one or two turns of statting before all-out war began.
The special rule didn't work as well as I'd hoped; the items were rather useless and people opted to attack rather than Switcheroo blindly for better ones.
In the end, the only held that could have made a difference - Sawsbuck's Focus Band - didn't proc in a 1v1 vs the statted Houndoom.
