Easter Capture Contest: Joltik

OOC: Ledyba is a freaking trooper man, it's taking everything like a boss XD. Even Electroweb barely put a dent in its HP.

IC: Galvantula leaps into action, forming and firing another Energy Ball. This one hits as well, but it seems to force the paralysis out of Ledyba's body. The Pokemon buzzes his wings and flies into the air, flying slightly erratically. He then beats his wings at an accelerated pace, dislodging silvery-tinted scales on the appendages and catching them in a whirlwind that he sends flying at Galvantula. The spider has no time to dodge the attack, but recovers in time to release the Electroweb he'd been readying. Ledyba is moving too slow to evade and takes the full force of the attack; for a moment he's stunned, but he recovers quickly. He opens his blunt mandibles and fires a volley of star-shaped energy bolts; the Swift swirls through the air, some of the stars crashing harmlessly into the ground, others colliding with Galvantula's face and front legs.

Both of the attacks hit, but they didn’t seem to put much of a dent into the flying and bug type. I must have underestimated the special defense of the bugger. The bug got up from the ground, no longer being held in place by the status ailment we had given it. It started flapping its wings and sent a lot of sliver things though the air, hitting my Bug type. Next the Flying type sent a swarm of star shaped thing at Galvantula. This attack also hit, but it did not seem to hurt Galvantula too much. We were not doing as much damage as I was hopping we would, it was time to step up our game.


“Okay!” I yelled, “Lets go for a Discharge!” Discharge was a stronger move, and I was hoping it would have more of an effect on Ledyba. Galvantula started collecting energy, which looked like his body was covered in sparks, he let the energy go, and it flew off him, going towards the Ledyba.

 

OOC:And now we get somewhere!

IC: Galvantula wastes no time charging up his Discharge, but Ledyba isn't about to let the larger Bug Pokemon get the first blow of the turn. He once more curls a clawed foot into a rough fist, this time darting forward with surprising speed. The Mach Punch startles Galvantula, causing him to flinch back, but it also makes Ledyba's blow a glancing one. The attack lands just under his fangs, and though it leaves him dazed for a brief moment, he recovers his wits fast enough to gather together leftover static from his earlier prepared Discharge. This one is smaller and weaker than the one that was interrupted, but thankfully it hits its foe with no further cut-ins from Ledyba, who know looks much more worn out than before.

OOC: Can this bugger be judged?


Galvantula was about to let his discharge go, but he was paused by the Five Star Pokémon’s attack. It was a very fast punch, and I made a note that it was Mach Punch, a move that would always hit first. The move could come in handy. Galvantula managed to let the rest of his charge go, doing a nice bit of damage. I decided that the Pokémon was weak enough to try to catch. I reached into by bag and pushed a few things aside while looking for the ball. I pulled out a ball, a simple Park ball. It was the lower kind of ball, and I hoped it would be enough to catch the bugger. I tossed the ball at the bug.

 

The Ball strikes Ledyba and sucks him in, snapping shut and falling to the ground where it begins to rock vigorously. After about thirty seconds, though, the Ball finally falls still. Trainer, who'd been standing about five feet away, comes over to pick up the Ball and stow it safely in her hip-pack. She then nods at you and smiles.

“I was starting to worry you might not get to catch something in time,” she tells you. “But you can submit this fella to be judged if you want. We'll head back to the Outpost and get all the paperwork and such done so we can get your score finalized and posted.” The Ranger waves for you to follow before turning and heading back the way you'd come.
