The Ranger's body was tingling with excitement as she awaited her first Trainer for the special event happening in the Park. Wild Park Pokemon were eager to have more elbow room on the Island, it seemed, and were intelligent enough to communicate that wish to the Rangers through their psychic-abled peers. So it was that the Rangers put their heads together collectively and decided that they should have an event for the Easter season, and to let Trainers compete on how creative they were when capturing wild Pokemon, with prizes for the winners. This, of course, attracted a ton of eager young Trainers who wanted to fill their teams full of tough Pokemon and Trainers who wanted to show their capturing finesse. Right now, Zorayda the Ranger was waiting at her desk, sitting in a spinning chair and waiting anxiously like an excited child. Her Umbreon watched with a tired expression as she spun in her chair.

"Wheeeeeee...." she said under her breath as she spun for the umpteenth time. Should she have been doing paperwork instead? Probably. Was she? Nope. Dusk rolled his red eyes and lay his head back down on his front paws.

A soft jingling made his long ears perk up, head turned in the direction of the sound. Zor immediately stopped her spinning, though the room was now swimming in front of her eyes. She stood up and wobbled over to her Trainer, extending a hand.

"Whaaa, sorry," she apologized as she nearly ran into the taller girl. "I'm Zorayda, your Ranger for the day," she introduced, leaning heavily on the wall. "Thanks for participating in our Park contest! This is Dusk, my Umbreon," she added, indicating the dark fox that had just come over to stand at his mistress's side. "So! Are you all ready to go? Let's get out there and start catching some Pokemon!" With that, she trounced towards the door with a bubbly air, blond-and-purple-dyed ponytail swinging merrily.

OOC: Hopefully it's okay if I say we're @ the Docks and not the Ruins Outpost. I can change if need be :D.

The trip to the National Park wasn’t very eventful. I wasn’t the only person heading to the island today; the boat was full of noisy Trainers who were full of excitement for the most recent event the Park had cooked up. I, too, was pretty eager to get my run going, but I did a better job of not acting completely crazy. Flutter, who was accompanying me for this trip, was sitting on a seat next to me as I stared out a window, trying to tune out the yelling of Trainers and cries of hyper Pokemon. I felt a light touch on my leg and glanced over to see the Venomoth prodding me with one of her own clawed legs. Once she had my attention, she made a cheerful twittering noise, then glanced around as her wings twitched. I could tell she wanted to fly around and meet other Pokemon; being Jolly, she was so friendly it almost hurt. I smiled at the large lavender insect and waved a hand at her.

“Go on then, just meet me at the Dock when we get there.”

Flutter trilled happily as she launched herself into the air and flitted off, vanishing around a corner a few minutes later. I wasn’t overly worried about her getting herself into any trouble; her outgoing personality was so infectious that all but the coldest of Pokemon found themselves drawn to the merry Pokemon. It would be a wonder if she managed to find a Pokemon that didn’t appreciate her presence, and if she did, she’d simply employ a Sleep Powder or Stun Spore to get out of the situation in a passive manner. I sighed and sat back in my seat, watching the sea go by and growing twitchier with every passing moment. Eventually, I decided to distract myself with a bit of singing.

“I’m not a fan of puppeteers, but I have a nagging fear
Someone else is pulling at the strings.
Something terrible is going down, through the entire town
Wreaking anarchy and all it brings.

I can’t sit idly, no I can’t move at all,
I curse the name, the one behind it all…”

And so the time went by, and by the time we finally docked at the National Park, my throat was a bit dry and scratchy. I hastily made my way off the boat before the throng of other Trainers caused a backup as they all fought to be the next ones off. I was one of the first to make it off the ship, thankfully, and maybe three or four minutes later Flutter came flying above the heads of Trainers jockeying to get off the vessel. I waited until my partner landed on my shoulder before turning from the chaos unfolding on the boat. I then headed inside the Outpost for the Docks, wanting to get inside and find a prime location to wait rather than deal with the press of bodies if I went in after everyone one else.

Thankfully, I’d already filled out all of my paperwork a few days ago, while some people were probably still waiting for theirs to be processed, having submitted their applications only a day or less ago. That meant I’d get started relatively soon, thank goodness. With any luck I could avoid the crowd that would be filling the Outpost soon-

At that moment, someone abruptly lurched out of a nearby chair, a woman who appeared around the same age as me. She stumbled over and stuck her hand out as she nearly ran into me before leaning against a wall, looking rather off-balance. I glanced over at the chair to see it spinning lazily. This woman had probably been whirling around in it and made herself dizzy. I did my best not to smile at her misfortune, though the situation was rather amusing.

"Whaaa, sorry. I'm Zorayda, your Ranger for the day. Thanks for participating in our Park contest! This is Dusk, my Umbreon," she added as a sleek-furred Umbreon joined us. "So! Are you all ready to go? Let's get out there and start catching some Pokemon!" The Ranger then started towards the door, and her cheerfulness instantly reminded me of a certain Pokemon. I chuckled a bit as Flutter chittered gleefully, obviously delighted at having such a boisterous Ranger taking us on this run.

“Heya,” I said as a greeting to both Zorayda and her Umbreon, nodding at both of them. “This is Flutter, who is clearly my partner for the day. She’s totally not a Ditto in disguise.OR a Mew for that matter. Or if she is, she’s certainly kept the disguise up for a heck of a long time.”

[Agh, now I have that song stuck in my head. WAY TO GO, JESS.]

Zor and her Trainer walked through the door towards the docks, pushing through the throng of Trainers eager to participate in the Easter Capture Contest. The Ranger saw a few of them give Saundra dirty looks, jealous that she had thought ahead of time and gotten her paperwork done early so she could be one of the first to participate. The girls exchanged pleasantries and approached Saundra's single Pokemon, Flutter. The Venomoth seemed to be hugely excited and in high spirits about the whole thing. Zor smiled inwardly; it was nice to see such cheerful people and Pokemon so happy together. Not that she didn't absolutely adore her Dusk, who was more serious; it was just that sometimes, the stoic Umbreon didn't quite get on Zor's level of enthusiasm on some things.

"Hiya Flutter! Okay, you guys, let's get to it, then. Enigma Ruins, right? Very mysterious place." She climbed down with Dusk to the environmentally-friendly boat, reaching a hand out to help Saundra down. They made their way to the Enigma Ruins gate, where they got off on the river bank. "All right, so the first place I'll take you in here is through these woods," the blonde stated, gesturing. "I will follow you closely; and remember, I'm only here to watch and make sure that nothing bad happens to the environment. Creativity when capturing your wild Pokemon is all up to you with no input from your Ranger. Get ready!"

And so the girls trekked through the wooded area, avoiding stickers and ominously sharp-looking splinters. Zor hummed a little ditty to herself absently as she followed the taller girl, before they came to a halt suddenly. Clicking its pincers at them warningly was a small, poisonous-looking spider Pokemon. Its beady black eyes glittered dangerously. Zorayda quieted her humming and backed off a bit, allowing for Saundra to make her choice of whether to engage the spider in battle or not.

OOC: DISCORD, I’M HOWLING AT THE MOON, AND SLEEPING IN THE MIDDLE OF A SUMMER AFTERNOON…

    ===

    IC: Saundra Blake

It didn’t take long for us to reach the Ruins. We took a little boat there; Flutter kept herself occupied by flying around and greeting the various Pokemon we passed on our way. Occasionally she would return for a few moments, but would soon be off again. I smiled as I watched her antics, glad she was enjoying herself. Then again, the Venomoth always seemed to enjoy herself, no matter where we were or what we were doing. I called her over once the Ruins came into view and she landed on my right shoulder, practically quivering with excitement. I patted her head as the boat reached the little docking area for the Runis, and a few moments later we were on solid ground again.

"All right, so the first place I'll take you in here is through these woods," Zorayda told me once we’d exited the boat, gesturing to a large wooded area not too far away. I was surprised that we’d be hitting the woods first rather than getting right into the Ruins, but it wasn’t as if I really minded. At any rate, Flutter was most at home in wooded and forested places, so it would be nice to kick off the event in a place like that so she could get herself better prepared for the day’s run. It was a lot better than going into the Ruins and having the first area be Deckbi; Flutter was a trooper but she understandably wasn’t very fond of Fire and Rock Pokemon. "I will follow you closely; and remember, I'm only here to watch and make sure that nothing bad happens to the environment. Creativity when capturing your wild Pokemon is all up to you with no input from your Ranger. Get ready!"

Flutter, at this point, was excited enough to launch herself off my shoulder, trilling merrily as we headed off towards the woods. It took a few minutes, but soon enough we were walking between large, thin trees. I glanced around as Flutter flew a few feet ahead of us, allowing my mind to wander a little even as I kept an eye out for any possible encounters. My Ranger was humming a tune that didn’t sound familiar, which nearly prompted me to do the same. However, my attention was soon focused on evading prickly plants and large rocks, as well as sharp branches that jutted out at odd intervals.

Just as I was clambering over a sizeable log, I heard a strange sort of noise. Once I was over the log I dusted myself off and looked around; it didn’t take long to spot a small green spider in the path we’d been walking. The noise I’d heard was its fangs clicking together, as if it were trying to chase us off. Flutter came over and studied the small arachnid as I wondered what to do. I didn’t have many Bug Pokemon, And Ariados were rather interesting. Besides, I’d always liked spiders, whether they were Pokemon or just normal spiders. Flutter glanced over at me and I nodded.

“Let’s go for it,” I told her. The Venomoth was more than happy to oblige, flitting over to the Spinarak and trilling cheerfully. “Start off with a Stun Spore to slow him down, and we’ll go from there.” Flutter made a strange little chittering noise of acknowledgement as she began to fly around the spider, her wings beating in what seemed an erratic manner all of a sudden. In reality, the special scales coated with their paralyzing chemical would only come loose with a certain amount of force and direction; Sleep Powder and PoisonPowder were the same way. It was an evolutionary trait to ensure the moths didn’t accidentally use one kind of scale when trying to another, and also to make sure that the scales weren’t shed at all if it wasn’t intended.

Within a few flaps, light-weight scales started drifting from the undersides of Flutter’s wings. The chemical on them that causes paralysis was a fine, colorless powder, which caught the light filtering through the leaves of the trees. The light was then reflected off the powder, giving it a faint yellowish tinge and also causing tiny prisms of light to flash as the scales floated through the shafts of light and shadow.

The aesthetic effect of the move wasn’t what mattered, though. If the scales managed to land on Spinarak, even just a few, the powder on them would get absorbed into the spider’s body. It would then besiege his muscles, occasionally to the point where he couldn’t move at all. For the most part, though, it would slow him down since his muscles wouldn’t be functioning normally. Being faster and more nimble than your foe was always a good thing, since it would help cut down on the number of blows your Pokemon would take in the end.

[I am now listening to OdysseyEurobeat's original version of said song. It is catchy and awesome and now I shall sing it to Comm all day. Also, gender of Spinarak?]

The Spinarak winced as Stun Spore clouded its vision, a few of Venomoths's scaly wing spores landing on its back and face. The 'face' on its back changed to show its displeasure. A few seconds later the effects of the spores seeped its way into its body and it began to shiver and shake with the effects. Angered, it screeched at Venomoth with ill intent.

"Keeeee!" It raised its body on its front legs to show the face on its back clearly; a moment later it morphed the image to a startling visage, terrifying Flutter for a split second and making her pause. The Scary Face attack only lasted momentarily, however, and the two bugs were ready to fight more directly after the status-effecting attacks.

Spinarak wasted no time in retaliating, employing a Scary Face to make Flutter more hesitant in attacking. I only caught a brief flash of the face on the spider’s rear morphing, but it probably wasn’t anything like what Flutter had seen. The moth made a startled sort of squeaking noise as she flew several feet away from her opponent, watching him with a sort of uncharacteristic wariness. I paused for a moment, wondering how to bolster her spirits and make her not quite so discomfited by the other Bug. I smiled a little when an idea came to me.

“Flutter, show off your Acrobatics and let Spinarak see a little Scary Face isn’t going to faze you!” I called to the moth in what I hoped was an encouraging, upbeat tone. “And just to make it look even better, throw in a Sleep Powder on top!” Flutter didn’t reply for a moment, her attention focused on Spinarak. After a moment, though, she abruptly angled her body and started flying high into the air. She flew up about maybe twenty feet, dodging branches and leaves and other obstacles. Once she reached an altitude she was comfortable with, she once again started to beat her wings in an erratic pattern. This time the shed scales had a faint greenish tinge to them as they fell through shafts of light, gently floating down towards the ground.

Flutter then suddenly began to fly in a looping circle, building up speed and momentum as she did. After several rotations she partially folded her wings and dropped from the sky, still able to maneuver thanks to not closing her wings all the way. She skillfully evaded the same obstacles she’d passed on her way up, but as she fell, the air currents caught the falling scales and caused them to get blown around, making the entire area glitter and sparkle as hundreds of tiny prisms appeared, only to vanish within the next second. As she dropped towards her target, I could almost feel her normal happy personality coming back, her spirits indeed lifted by the beauty of her combo. With any luck her Acrobatics would hit; it certainly wouldn’t hurt her recovering sense of cheer if she managed to pull the dual attack off.

The Spinarak clicked angrily as Flutter hesitated, taking the moment to claw at the Venomoth with its sharp little toes in a Fury Swipes attack. Venomoth shook the attack off easily, however, and dove in with the Acrobatics attack, the sparkles of the Sleep Powder raining down. Zor tilted her head and frowned, wondering why Saundra would order her Venomoth do such a thing when Spinarak was known to easily shake off the Sleep status in battles. However, despite the odd choice in attack, the Acrobatics attack landed perfectly, the light and agile moth body-tackling Spinarak successfully.

Spinarak hissed in pain and crouched on the ground, shivering from its Paralysis and unable to move due to the pain of both the super-effective attack and from the electricity running through its body.

“Great job Flutter!” I called to the Venomoth once she’d finished her combo. She chittered happily at the praise, having easily shrugged off a last-minute Fury Swipes. To top it off, Spinarak had been gripped by paralysis and unable to counter after Flutter’s Acrobatics. I grinned as I watched her fly around the battlefield, then focused my attention on Spinarak. He hadn’t been lulled into slumber by the Sleep Powder, which meant his Ability must be Insomnia. That had been the main point of Sleep Powder; not to immediately put the spider to sleep, but to instead try and figure what Ability he had. Now that I knew, I could take a few minutes to wrap things up and go for a capture.

“All right, we’re going strong, so let’s keep it up,” I told my Pokemon, who nodded with a determined chitter. “It seems Spinarak has Insomnia instead of some other Ability like Swarm, so use a Skill Swap on him. Since there’s a layer of Sleep Powder down, there’s not a very big chance of him going anywhere without coating himself in the scales and taking a nice nap. Whether you manage to hit him with the Skill Swap or not, though, go in for an Energy Ball; try to control the power so it knocks off a fair amount of Spinarak’s remaining strength without risking knocking him out.” Flutter nodded once again and let out a ringing trill as she prepared her moves.

Skill Swap was a bizarre move, to say the least. The exchange of Abilities was something that couldn’t really be explained, one of the many aspects of Pokemon that was still being studied. It wasn’t known exactly how the move worked or how a Pokemon’s body adapted so quickly to accept a foreign Ability, but it was a very useful move in certain situations. A faint violet light started to emanate from Flutter’s body before a thin streak shot towards Spinarak. If it connected, the violet light would surround him as well. This was the initial transfer of Flutter’s Ability. Then, a second beam of light would arch from Spinarak back towards Flutter, which would be the exchange of the arachnid’s Ability. It would only take a few seconds, but the whole thing depended on that initial beam of energy hitting its target. Like I’d said, since there was a nice layer of Sleep Powder down, once Spinarak no longer had Insomnia he’d most likely fall victim to the chemical-coated scales within moments.

Whether or not it worked, Flutter’s next course of action would be an Energy Ball attack. It was a simple enough move, where the user gathered energy from the flora around them into a concentrated orb, which would then be fired at the opponent. In most cases it would take on a dark emerald hue, signifying the source of its energy as things like grass and trees. It could occasionally be lighter or darker, though, or be a different color altogether for some Pokemon. When Flutter used it, the move tended to be a scintillating jade hue that was extremely pretty to look at. In fact, I couldn’t keep count of how many times an enemy Pokemon was struck dead-on by the attack in the past because they’d been so amazed at its appearance.

I took a few moments to dig a Park Ball out of my literal "entry basket" as Flutter prepared her Skill Swap, having do push aside a few Lava Cookies to get the orb. Once I'd retrieved it, I set my basket down and expanded the Ball, ready to use it so long as Flutter's Energy Ball managed to hit.

Zor's eyebrows raised with surprise as Saundra ordered Flutter to use the Skill Swap attack to trade Pokemon innate abilities with Spinarak. She'd wondered why the Trainer had the moth used Sleep Powder before, and now she got her answer. It was an extremely clever move and the Ranger was thoroughly impressed. She kept her mouth shut, though; she was an impassive judge who was there to make sure nothing bad happened and that was all. Spinarak fought sleep at it shot bits of its stiff bug hairs at Flutter as a last-ditch effort--a classic Pin Missile attack. Flutter flinched slightly in discomfort but concentrated on her Energy Ball, released it just as the spider was succumbing to the Sleep Powder.

It screeched, but much less loudly than before, and it faded as it finally curled into a little ball and stopped moving save for its occasional breaths. Zor watched as the Trainer threw a Park ball at the sleeping spider, entrapping it within. It didn't even twitch before it clicked shut--a successful capture. Zor took the ball from Saundra with a friendly congratulations; she would let Saundra choose only one of the Pokemon she'd captured at the end of the run, so for now the Ranger held onto them.

They trekked a bit more through Enigma Ruins, where the environment would change drastically from one extreme to another. Now they entered an area that was quiet and a tad eerie, entrenched in a deep valley that held a few caves here and there. A cawing noise was heard suddenly from a dead tree; looking up, the two girls saw a huge black bird flapping its wings at them irritably and calling out as if wanting them to get out of its territory. Upon its head was a decorative crest that was somewhat reminiscent of a wizard's hat. The Honchkrow puffed out its chest an an effort to look bigger and more tough.

Our capture of Spinarak was a perfect attempt. Zorayda went to collect the Ball that now held the little spider, and Flutter was back to her normal attitude, her spirits buoyed by her success. I was just glad she wasn’t feeling unnerved by that Scary Face anymore; it was kind of upsetting to see a Pokemon that was normally so joyful become so hesitant and, for all intents and purposes, afraid. After giving my Ranger some time to collect the Ball containing Spinark, we continued on our way.

A short time later we found ourselves inexplicably in an area full of tall grass and stones scattered about. Apparently, the warping effect of the Ruins affected the territory outside of the lab as well as inside, a fact I hadn’t known. It was all good, though, save for our next encounter. It turned out to be a Honchkrow; I stared at the large crow wistfully, sighing and shaking my head as Flutter flew circles a few feet above my head.

“Let’s see if we can get around this one,” I said, regretting that I had to say the words. I would have liked to try and catch the bird, but there was no way I was going to pit Flutter against it. She was tough for a moth, but she was weak to Flying Pokemon and really didn’t have the defenses to take on something like a Honchkrow. “With any luck we might be able to spook it off or just slip by without it giving us any issues.”

Unfortunately for Saundra and Flutter, it didn't seem that Honchkrow had any intentions of allowing them to leave. It swooped down at them, cawing loudly. It's great wings blotted the light out momentarily as it dove.

"Saundra! Will you use the doll, fight it, or try escaping?" Zor shouted as the bird came at them. Depending on what she did, she either needed to throw the doll or have her Venomoth defend itself from the upcoming attack from the huge bird.

I sighed and watched Honchkrow as it flew up into the air, obviously determined not to let us get by without working for it. I didn't want to use my PokeDoll so soon, but avoiding the risk of Flutter taking a lot of damage was more important than holding on to the Doll. I hastily reached into the entry basket and pulled the Doll out, heaving it into the air at Honchkrow. With any luck, the large crow would catch the Doll and leave us be.

The girls ran from the bird as it followed the arc of the Poke doll, properly distracted. Soon they were out of earshot of the Honchkrow and panting from their run. After recovering for a few minutes, the Ranger and Trainer looked up to see that Enigma Ruins had changed to a more lush environment, rich with moist air and exotic plants. There was an almost cloying scent of flowers and other aromas. Nearby was a small pond, which held several lily pads.

Saundra and Zor made their way past the pond, but before they could get by, a small Pokemon popped out of the water, its head in the shape of a camouflaged lily pad. It had a small, ducklike blue body with an orange beak. It was a Lotad, a highly useful Pokemon to own. Zor stepped back and let Saundra decide what to do about this new encounter.

It wasn't long before the Ruins changed once we got away from Honchkrow; this time, we ended up in a replica of the Great Lakes. There was a pleasant aroma in the air, though it was strong enough to nearly be overwhelming, and there were lily pads and flowers everywhere. It was quite relaxing, considering the rather trying escape I'd gone through a short while ago with Honchkrow.

A few minutes after the Ruins transformed, one of the nearby lily pads revealed that it was actually a Lotad when the Pokemon stuck its head out of the water. I heard my Ranger move back a bit as I contemplated the little Pokemon before me. Ludicolo, the evolved form of Lotad, was a bulky and relatively strong Grass and Water Pokemon; that bulk and power made it widely popular amongst those who did a lot of serious battling. In all honesty, though, Ludicolo wasn't as interesting to me as an Ariados was. I had a few good Grass Pokemon already, as well as a couple strong Water Pokemon. While I also had plenty of good Poison Pokemon, I didn't have many Pokemon in the way of Bugs.

"I think I'll leave this one be and move on," I told Zorayda. With any luck, Lotad wouldn't be as hard to get away from as Honchkrow had been.

Zor and her Trainer kept eye contact with the little Lotad, walking slowly away. Soon it realized that they weren't a danger, and it sank back under the water after a few moments of scrutinizing the humans for foul play. Breathing a sigh of relief, they moved on into the ever-changing Enigma Ruins that mysteriously morphed, hence its name. The area around them stayed stable for a little while, however... they walked through a humid jungle for what seemed like hours before coming upon their next Pokemon.

Standing about a foot or so shorter than them was a green Pokemon with a capped head, looking at them as if sizing them up. Known for protecting the young of its kind, the Pokemon immediately seemed to frown and widen its stance, ready to defend its rightful territory. The Breloom did not budge, waiting for them to make a move first.

I watched the Breloom as it took a defensive posture, briefly considering trying to catch it before shaking my head.

“I have a Breloom already, so I’ll just stick with Spinarak for now. Let’s see if this guy will let us pass; if he doesn’t, Flutter can try to persuade him to leave us be with a Whirlwind.” I didn’t want to have to get offensive to get around the Pokemon, but they could be pretty aggressive if they thought someone was trying to hurt their young or encroach in their territory. I sighed a little, wishing I hadn’t had to use my PokeDoll on Honchkrow, but it was still for the better; Flutter couldn’t do much to the bulky crow, but she had several good Flying moves like Acrobatics that could easily take down a Grass/Fighting Pokemon like Breloom, thanks to its quadruple weakness to Flying attacks.

Zor nodded, and the two girls began to slowly try to back away, but it seemed the Breloom wasn't having any of it. Lowering its capped head it bull-rushed them, stopping just short as an intimidation tactic. It was working; the Ranger could feel her heart beat a mile a minute. Every move they made was watched by the angry, protective Pokemon; apparently, it deemed them too threatening to allow to get away to fight another day.

"Um, I don't think it wants us to leave," Zor whispered to her Trainer. She was standing a bit in front of Saundra, ready to give her own Pokemon orders to protect if need be--but that was only a last resort tactic, seeing as she could only do so if Saundra's Flutter fainted during the run.

I shook my head a little as Breloom charged at us threateningly when we tried to move around it. Flutter chittered a bit, clearly unhappy that the mushroom Pokemon was acting so aggressively when we hadn’t done anything to warrant it. She didn’t like seeing other Pokemon get angry or upset, and so it was with hesitation that I sent the moth into what would hopefully be a very short battle.

“Well, this fella clearly isn’t going to just let us go, and I don’t think trying to get around it again will do much good. It’ll probably try to attack outright instead of just bluffing. Flutter, go in there and try to blow Breloom away with a Whirlwind; hopefully the strong gusts will encourage it to leave us be. If not, give it an Acrobatics, the strongest you can muster.” Flutter made a noise akin to a sigh before taking flight off my shoulder, flying towards Breloom before stopping about three feet away from it. She then started to pump her wings with a great deal of force, trying to kick up a powerful funnel of wind that would, with any luck, chase Breloom off without having to resort to actual attacks.

The Breloom did not intend to allow the human invaders to leave anytime soon. With Flutter out, it had a new target to focus on, one that posed a threat due to its super-effective attacks that targeted its weaknesses. As Saundra tried to escape, the Breloom launched itself forward at top speed, disappearing for a moment to knock Flutter about with an insanely fast Mach Punch. The Venomoth squeaked in protest and surprise, but followed up with a skillful attack, angering the Breloom and making it only more determined to get the humans to pay for intruding upon its home territory.

I sighed as the Breloom pressed it's attack, sneaking in a Mach Punch before Flutter could try her Whirlwind. Thankfully the move didn't do too much damage, thanks to Flutter's typing; it was more of an annoyance than anything. Still, the longer this kept up, the more chances of the Breloom using a more painful attack. We needed to either get away from Breloom or chase it off.

"Flutter, try another Whirlwind, and if that doesn't do the trick then hit it with a Sleep Powder." If Whirlwind didn't convince it to leave us alone, then at least knocking it out would hopefully give us a few free chances at escaping without Flutter taking too much more damage.
