The stubborn Breloom dodged as the Whirlwind attack threatened to sweep it away, then spread its arms wide and seemed to breathe in deeply. Zor noticed a trail of what looked like sparkling energy bubbles suddenly lead from Venomoth to Breloom--a draining attack that helped to heal the dual type slightly. It was highly ineffective, however, and though it did a tiny bit of damage, Flutter's Sleep Powder sparkled in the air and floated down to touch the Breloom's face. The effects were immediate--it swayed dangerously before crashing to the ground, completely asleep and twitching a bit.

Whirlwind once again failed, but at least Sleep Powder worked as planned. Breloom was knocked out cold within a few moments, but now I was left with a choice. Breloom would sleep for a few minutes, but there was a chance it could still have one or two attacks that let it retaliate while slumbering. Sleep Talk might activate, which could in turn allow it to use any more it currently knew, albeit at random. The other possible move was Snore, which was basically just a very loud snore that dealt damage from the sound waves. I didn’t exactly want to risk taking more damage, so I really wasn’t trying to hang around and keep battling. However, trying to flee without having a backup plan in case Breloom DID attack would only serve to get us into more trouble.

“All right Flutter, maybe now we can get away from this guy,” I said. “I want you to get a Psychic ready, but for now we’re going to try to get around it while it’s sleeping. If it manages to attack somehow, try to use your Psychic to either knock the attack off-course or get yourself out of its way.”

The Breloom snoozed on, allowing the Trainer to relax a little. Sure, it could still do a few things, but a sleeping Pokemon was much easier to deal with than an alert one... However, before escaping, the Pokemon came to its feet, arms dangling, eyes closed. Even in its unconscious state it wanted to protect its forest. An admirable trait, at least... Surging forth, it landed a reckless Tackle on the poisonous moth, making her wince but continue with her attack. Her huge buggy eyes glowed white with Psychic energy, and a moment later it allowed a pulse of that energy go forth, enveloping the Fighting type in a strange, frightening attack. The Breloom, still asleep, collapsed to the ground without another sound, out cold. It was over; Zor beckoned them to move on as it lie there. It would come to soon enough.

The pair of girls kept going, relieved that the stubborn Pokemon from before had finally passed out. Now they came upon the last Pokemon of the run--a small Pokemon that danced at their feet. It was a light, creamy yellow sort of color, with red markings upon it. It resembled a small mouse or rodent of some sort. It squeaked and flopped its ears as it saw them.

Thankfully, we managed to get away from Breloom relatively easy once it was asleep, despite the fact that it still managed to clamber to its feet and land a Tackle on Flutter. She shrugged it off like a pro and proceeded to hit the mushroom with her prepared Psychic, thus ensuring our escape.

We trekked on for a bit before coming to the fifth and final encounter of the event, a little Plusle. The Electric Pokemon squealed upon seeing us, though I couldn’t tell if it was excited or scared. Either way, I didn’t really want to bother the little creature since I had no interest in catching it. I glanced at Flutter, then dug out an Energy Powder from the basket I’d been given. I motioned for her to come over and held the powdery substance out to her, and she made quick work of it. Once she’d finished eating the powder, I waved to Plusle.

“Maybe distracting it will make this one easier to get away from. Fly up and use a Sleep Powder in a big ring around Plusle, then use Psybeam to light up the scales. At the very least it’ll keep the little thing focused on something other than us so we can get away, and if worse comes to worst, you can always use a Gust to blow some of the Sleep Powder over Plusle itself.”

Flutter nodded and flew up, beginning to fly in a large circle. I was planning on making a lightshow of sorts here, with Psybeam being fired at the falling scales in a way that would cause them to reflect and refract the already-multicolored Psybeam. It could be tricky to pull off, but I had faith in my Pokemon’s capabilities.

Jess used the Energy Powder on her Venomoth, bringing her to full health and making her chitter with satisfaction and relief. The girls ran from the Plusle, Venomoth prepared to attack but it seemed that it wasn't needed. The cute little 'mon watched with wide eyes but did nothing as they escaped, counting as the last Pokemon on Saundra's run. Zor smiled and stuck her hand out in a offer for a handshake.

"Congratulations! This run has ended and you've caught yourself a lovely Pokemon to enter into the Contest. Your results will be judged and recorded for a possible placement and prize. You ready? Let's go!" With that, they walked out of the park, Flutter happily following her successful Trainer closely.
