    (OOC: You can ask me questions through VM or AIM if you'd like, and remember you can attempt an escape if you don't want to battle something. I advise catching at least one Pokemon, though. This first post will not have a battle in it so I can gauge your roleplaying skill and act accordingly. Remember, the quality of your posts is what matters, not length, although very few short posts are high quality.)

    ~~~~~
    After having your Gallade checked out in a medical tent, you are both ushered towards the foreboding mountain peak of Mt Oktori. You can see other Trainers from different starting stations heading off towards the mountain. Them, and the cameras littered throughout the area specifically for the event, mean that you'll never really be alone. A few steps forward brings you to your first choice of the day - a thin, winding path that leads straight up to the mountain, or a wider crevasse that seems to disappear underneath the earth. Either way, you are quite sure that the Judges will be watching.
    (OOC: I feel under a lot of pressure because it seems like you're going to base a lot based on how good this first post is when it probably won't be as good as my battle posts. Also, I'm terrible at starting ANYTHING. If my first post for my other run hadn't been lost by both PWN and Word there's a good chance I'd be mostly done with it by now.) @ChainReaction01;
    Ash K. waited somewhat patiently outside the medical tent, hoping his partner Gallade was okay. After a while, the flap was pushed out and Gallade appeared. Ash asked, "Are you okay? Do they think you're fit for this run?"
    Gallade, who had been trained in the art of human speech by his friend and partner Ash, answered, "I'm fine. They just did some minor tests and determined I'm perfectly fit for this little excursion of ours. You worry too much."
    With that they held hands and followed James towards the looming and slightly ominous mountain they would be exploring. Soon they came to a fork in the road, having to choose between a thin, winding path that leads straight up to the mountain, or a wider crevasse that seems to disappear underneath the earth. Ash asked Gallade, "Which way would you prefer?"
    Gallade, after thinking about it and looking back and forth between them several times, said, "The mountain path seems way to narrow to safely traverse while battling wild Pokémon. I'll feel a lot safer taking the crevasse into the belly of the earth."
    Ash considered what Gallade had said, then agreed with him. Together they followed James down into the crevasse, eagerly awaiting their first opponent.
    Unfortunately, once we are halfway down the track I have to turn back due to an emergency. I assure you that you cannot possibly get lost - there are cameras scattered throughout the area - and to use your PokeDoll if you come across a Pokemon you do not want to fight. Barely a minute after I leave you encounter your first battle of the day - a small humanoid Pokemon with gray skin emerges from the dark and takes up a fighting stance.
    For barely a minute Ash K. and his partner Gallade were slightly frightened by being alone, abandoned by their Ranger. But before they could dwell too much on the matter, their first opponent appeared out of the shadows of the dark canyon floor. A small, gray humanoid Pokémon came to challenge Ash and his partner Gallade. Gallade stepped forward, ready to battle, waiting for a suggestion of how to proceed from his trainer.
    Ash contemplated what to do for a seemingly endless period of time, during which Gallade and Machop stared each other down. Finally, Ash called, "Get right up close and begin to arm wrestle it."
    Gallade ran up to Machop and grabbed the little Pokémon's hands in his own, each trying to push the other back across the slippery, slightly frozen crevasse floor. Gallade began to call, "What now?"
    Ash, being a mastermind strategist, had already thought ahead but was giving instructions piecewise as to avoid alerting their foe to the whole plan. He mentioned the next part of the plan, "Now, look into its eyes and use Hypnosis, followed by a Dream Eater."
    Gallade looked straight into Machop's slightly tearful eyes and created blue spheres of light from his eyes and sent them into Machop's sad eyes. The little warrior fell asleep instantly. Gallade regretfully created an illusionary version of itself and sent it out through Machop, who convulsed for an instant before going back to a more relaxed sleep.
    The two fighters grapple impressively, and it is somewhat surprising that the Machop manages to hold off your Gallade for a little while. However, it cannot resist Gallade's Hypnotic stare, and it started to jerk its arms and legs a little bit as Gallade feasted on the Wild Pokemon's sleep. The Machop started to murmur under its breath, though - a sure sign that it is going to soon wake up.
    {OOC: Sorry I'm taking so long, I've been distracted, I'm still unsure about some stuff in the park (like I wasn't sure if I should be extending this post a little past where I ended it or if that makes it hard for you to do your job), and sometimes I have trouble thinking about what to do, or at least writing it. Hopefully I can go faster now, but we'll see.}
    Upon observing Machop beginning to stir, Ash suggested to Gallade, "Teleport away from sleeping beauty."
    Gallade looked for a second at Machop, saw it moving, and then shimmered and vanished. A few seconds later, Gallade reappeared on the other side of the makeshift arena that was being used for their battle. Ash then suggested, "Fire a Thunder Wave into the sky, then control it with Psychic to make a slowly shrinking cage around Machop."
    Gallade agreed with Ash's plan and created an orb of electricity, which he sent into the heavens. Then his eyes began to glow blue and the stream of electricity slowed and gained a blue outline. He used the power of his mind to first form the Thunder Wave into horizontal rings in the sky, then stretch it out to add vertical bars.
    It was a breathtaking sight, seeing the yellow and blue sizzling electrical cage against the starry background of the heavens. Gallade slowly lowered the cage into place around Machop, watching carefully for signs that Machop had woken up, prepared to move the cage if Machop managed to get out from under it while putting it into place.
    OOC: You're doing fine, don't worry about making it hard on me. Your posts could perhaps be a little longer, but you've got lots of description so I wouldn't worry about it.
    Gallade teleported to safety and crafted the cage as ordered, securing it in place around the Machop. The Wild Pokemon woke up to find that it was surrounded by electricity. Without thinking, it attempted to break the bars and was rewarded with an electrical shock. It beat at its chest like a gorilla, and began stamping around on the ground, causing little cracks to shoot outwards from underneath the cage. The shocks jarred Gallade a little, but thankfully did not break his concentration.
    Ash watched as Machop woke up to find itself trapped in a cage made of pure electricity and watched as the tiny humanoid banged against the bars of its sizzling prison. He heard the faint sizzling of electricity running up and down the bars of Machop's makeshift prison. He felt running water pass under his bare feet from where the heat created by the cage's electricity was melting the icy floor. He could smell the faintest hint of burning flesh from both Machop and Gallade's shocking experiences. Ash also watched distressed as his partner Gallade got hit by some stray electricity and felt Gallade's pain as his own. Thinking quickly, Ash called frantically to Gallade, "Use Double Team to surround it!"
    Gallade's form shimmered for a second, and then perfect illusions of Gallade appeared all around the caged warrior. The illusions all looked and sounded the same as each other and the same as Gallade had before creating them with one exception. All of them, including the hidden original, had shimmers constantly running through them as though they were slightly malfunctioning holograms. Ash triumphantly called out, "Now, fire Stone Edge into its tiny prison cell and then Protect yourself in case the cage explodes!"
    All of the Gallades surrounding the poor Machop created rings of rocks around themselves. Ash could hear the whistling of the rocks spinning around each of the Gallades. After a short pause of agony from the shock the original Gallade had taken, they all sent the jagged stones flying with varying degrees of accuracy at the cage Machop was being held in. The electricity protested violently against the invasion of its space. The Gallades immediately attempted to created large green orbs around themselves to prevent the flying sparks of the cage from hitting them, but it seemed to go almost in slow motion as they suffered from the earlier shock, taking several seconds before the barrier was actually in place. The Gallades and their Protect orbs shimmered in unison, a harmonic cycle of the mysterious universe. The shimmering was audible, it sounded like a gentle humming, and all was right with the world.
    The Machop narrowed its eyes and watched the Gallade closely as it created multiple clones of itself. They all picked up large rocks and threw them towards the cage, which exploded and sent electricity sparking everywhere. A huge dust cloud rolled outwards and the Gallades all formed green protective surfaces to block whatever attack the Machop was preparing. Unfortunately the Machop wasn't in any shape to attack - it was shaking with the effort of standing up. However, its muscles were bulging dangerously, speaking volumes as to the Wild Pokemon's destructive power.
    OOC: Could you please make the next Pokémon appear immediately if I manage to catch this to try and cut out some time?
    The multitude of Gallades surrounding the imprisoned Machop were revealed again as the orbs of their Protects shimmered out of existence. They all looked to their partner Ash for instructions of how to proceed. Ash considered the situation before deciding on one final course of action that would hopefully capture the little warrior. Machop's fear was palpable as Ash began to call out, "Use a combination of Hypnosis and Magical Leaf!"
    All the Gallades tried to widen their stance in preparation for unleashing their mystical attacks. However, several of them slipped on the slightly frozen floor. The sound of sliding on ice was barely audible, but when one of them cloaked his right fist in red light and used Fire Punch on the ground to catch himself and avoid slamming face-first into the cold, hard ground. The heat from the Fire Punch also melted the icy layer of the ground around his fist. Many of the others who slipped quickly followed suit, some using their right hand and some using their left hand.
    Meanwhile, the Gallades who did not slip created blue spheres of light from their eyes, but before sending them at the caged Machop they summoned several colorful leaves out of thin air to surround the spheres, forming a multicolored rotating ring around them. The ring of leaves guided the spheres of light to their target and both hit the exhausted but now more muscly little hero. Machop stopped panting and started snoring, allowing Ash to grab a mostly green, tiny sphere from his belt, push a button in the middle which caused it to suddenly fill his palm, and toss it into the cage at the dozing warrior.
    The Park Ball hurtled through the air, whistling between the pair of Gallades nearest to Ash, and the button of it hit its target right on the forehead. Machop became surrounded in red light and was then replaced by red light of the same shape. The outline of Machop was slowly sucked into the Park Ball, which subsequently fell to the ground. It beeped and the button glowed red. It then shook once with an audible rustling, then shook again. Ash and all of the surrounding Gallades, many of whom had gotten up from slipping on the ice, watched with their breath held and obvious excitement on their faces. Everyone was thinking the same question with no need for telepathy, "Will Machop be caught after all our hard work?"
    OOC: For future reference, you shouldn't say that moves were successful, like Hypnosis causing Machop to sleep. Don't worry about it though, it didn't affect your quality modifier.
    ~~~~~

    The Gallades' eyes all started to glow, but the Machop was faster. It blurred towards the real Gallade, leaving a silver streak behind it, and it punched Gallade in the stomach. However, the attack didn't hurt the Psychic-type too much, and the lessened distance between them allowed Hypnosis to take effect. After the Magical Leaf attack, you throw the PokeBall and it captures the Wild Pokemon successfully. However, the racket made by your battle has attracted someone new. A Glaceon appears from over a ridge and approaches curiously.

    The Machop's devastating punch in Gallade's stomach caused him to lose focus and the Double Team created copies all merged into the real Gallade and pass out for a second after delivering his attacks. When he awoke, he saw Ash retrieving a Park Ball from the melted circle of ice where the electric cage had obviously been. Gallade looked around just in time to see a Glaceon appearing above them and jump down in front of them. Gallade ran over as quickly as he could, trying to avoid slipping on the icy ground, jumping between the patches that had been melted during the battle. When he reached Ash, he grabbed Ash's hand and Teleported, hoping to come out away from their newest opponent.

    Gallade's Teleport whisks you away before the Glaceon can do anything. When your vision clears you can see that you are much higher up the mountain. Unfortunately, you also accidentally startled a nearby Hitmontop, and it seems very angry about this.

    OOC: I checked the CC of that post in Word and it was above what people say the minimum is... Also, I figured it wasn't a problem to say Double Team worked here because it can't actually have attacked me yet.

    After Gallade's swift movement to grab his partner Ash and Teleport away from their Eeveelution of an opponent, the pair of them felt themselves being absorbed by nothingness, moving through a pitch-black landscape with control over their bodies but not their motion through nothingness. An instant later, although it felt like much longer to those experiencing it, they reappeared in a different part of Mount Oktari. Both of them experienced slight nausea at the experience and it took a moment to recover and regain the ability to understand their own senses.

    When they finally could make sense of their surroundings, they found themselves still holding hands, but now about halfway up the mountain rather than underneath it. The ground was a solid layer of ice, which they were both surprised they hadn't slipped on while completely dizzy. Before they could observe much more, they noticed there was a Hitmontop, a Pokémon that looked like a top with limbs and a face, spinning rapidly across the ice to where they were standing. Ash thought quickly and let go of Gallade's hand to jump aside, telling him, "Use Double Team to avoid that Hitmontop!"

    Gallade split into the multitudes of Gallades again and the Hitmontop passed harmless through an illusion of Gallade, making it vanish but leaving many others now surrounding Hitmontop. Ash looked around to see that there was a cliff right next to him that he had almost fallen off dodging the spinning top with the bottom of the drop too far down to see. On the other side, the mountain rose about as sharply to the far up peak. The side Hitmontop had appeared from seemed to lead further up to the distant peak at a narrow angle, while the opposite side led down to the base of the mountain at about the same angle.

    Closing his eyes, Ash used the power of aura to sense which Gallade was real and carefully moved over to him across the icy ground, stealthily grabbed his hand, and tried to run while Hitmontop was distracted by the myriad illusions of Gallade.

    OOC: The minimum is a bare minimum. If you posted 500-600 characters every post you'd incur a serious negative quality modifier. But like I said, for the ECC, that was fine. And yes, commanding a Double Team to attempt to escape is also fine - it's just in battle you can't outright state what happens regarding attacks.

    ~~~~~
    The Double Team trick worked perfectly. The Hitmontop must have still been startled because it wasn't concentrating, it just blindly attacked the clone images. This allowed you and Gallade to slip past the Wild Pokemon. Just before you can make the choice of ascending or descending, another Fighting-type stumbles across you.
    Once Ash and Gallade were well away from the spinning top they had just fled from, Gallade let all the illusions of himself fade away, leaving Hitmontop more relaxed with no opponents to fight. However, before they got much further than that, the pair of them stumbled across another tiny Fighting type, the Unova region rip off of the Pokémon residing in a Park Ball on Ash's belt. The Timburr hoisted the wooden beam it held which was about as large as itself. Timburr starter spinning quickly with the beam in its outstretched arms, but miscalculated the distance and hit the side of the mountain with a loud bang. The sound of snow falling at increasing velocity from the top of the mountain came clearly to all three of them. Ash quickly instructed Gallade, "Use Psychic to stop the falling snow, then use Flash to distract Timburr!"
    As the pile of falling snow became visible, it gained a blue outline and seemed to shoot off into the distance of its own accord with a slight buzzing sound. Then the whole mountainside lit up with an instant and blinding display of Gallade's power. Ash closed his eyes and used the power of aura to grab Gallade's hand and guide him past the wild Timburr, hoping the Flash would prevent Timburr from stopping them. They were both getting really cold from being out in the freezing wind and frigid air so long, not to mention the ice underneath their feet which they could only hope they didn't slip on.
    Gallade's Psychic successfully relocates the snow without harming anyone, but the Flash isn't as successful. For whatever reason (perhaps its eyes were closed) the Timburr is not affected by the Flash and it prevents you and Gallade from escaping. It tenses its muscles, preparing for battle.
    As Ash and Gallade attempted to flee from their newest opponent, they found their path blocked by a wooden beam and almost ran into it, only stopping in time because of Ash's powers as an aura guardian. The overwhelmingly bright light gradually faded to reveal that Timburr had been wearing a pair of dark sunglasses and had therefore barely noticed that the mountainside had been lit up like a beacon, allowing it to stay focused on its opponents. Ash stepped back, leaving space for the Pokémon to battle each other. He pondered how to proceed, then decided to use Gallade's type advantage and superior power to overwhelm Timburr. He called out, "Use Swords Dance to spin and then extend your arms and use Psycho Cut!"
    Gallade obediently stepped back a little from Timburr, put out his arms so that the upper arm was perpendicular to his body and the lower arm was parallel, and then began to spin. However, he did not account for the low friction on the ice was standing on and lost control of his spinning. He desperately tried to follow the next part of his friend's instructions and started to stretch out his arms fully, and also began using Psycho Cut, causing his arms to glow blue and extend slightly.
    Ash worriedly watched the uncontrollable spinning of his partner, but also knew that if Gallade managed to actually hit Timburr in the uncontrollable high-speed spinning brought on by the almost non-existent coefficient of friction, represented by the same name as his favorite Pokémon, the attack should deal massive damage with all the extra momentum. He debated whether or not to try and stop the attack, finally deciding that he would yell out to use Psychic to stop the attack only if Gallade bypassed Timburr or was close to falling off the ledge.
    Ash wished he had brought a jacket on this trip that should have obviously called for one, but his personality was such that if he deems extra equipment unnecessary, he just gets lazy and doesn't bring it. This usually lead to not wearing a jacket or socks, regardless of how cold it was. He got brought back to the present moment from his mental pondering by the hissing sound of Gallade's sliding, seeing that Gallade had almost reached his target.
    As Gallade starts to spin threateningly, the Timburr makes a scary face by opening its eyes wide and waggling its tongue out of its mouth. It then planted its pillar firmly into the ground and hung onto it tight as Gallade approached and lashed out with multiple Psycho Cuts. Despite the incredible pain the Timburr would be enduring, it didn't move an inch. It must be up to something...
    @ChainReaction01;
    Ash squinted to try and see what the wild Timburr was doing, why it was so calm and why it wasn't fighting back. The dark sunglasses Timburr wore made it much harder for Ash to read its expression visually, so he resorted to using the power of aura to sense Timburr's inner thoughts and intentions. He first sensed strong focusing, then a word that Timburr had heard but didn't how say out loud, "Bide". Ash knew that this was bad news, immediately yelling "It's using Bide, watch out!"
    Gallade tensed and waited for further instructions. Ash had to consider for a second if it was worth continuing the battle or if they should just run. Running seemed like a good idea if they had a back up plan. He rushed through several different scenarios in his brain to see what would work, eventually deciding on a plan of action. Ash ran over to where Gallade was standing as fast as he could without slipping on the icy surface below his feet. As he ran, the wind felt stronger as it usually does at increased velocity. The wind, as well as the frozen ground and general chill of the area, made him shiver and wish it would just end already. When he reached Gallade, he grabbed Gallade's hand and whispered so that only Gallade could hear, "Do you think you can maintain a Protect bubble while Teleporting?"
    Gallade considered briefly before saying back just as quietly, "I'm not sure if I could maintain it while shifting through space, but I could easily create one as soon as we arrived at our destination."
    Ash considered if that would work, then decided it would and said, still quietly, "Do it. This Timburr is using Bide and we don't want to be near it unprotected when it unleashes that."
    Gallade and Ash held hands tightly and vanished into thin air, feeling themselves being transport through space to an unknown location, with temporarily diminished senses from the process. When the arrived, before either of them could see where they were, Gallade put up a Protect bubble and they both hoped they were far enough away from Timburr that it was unneeded. Wherever they were, it was still freezing cold.
