OOC: Nature of your Togekiss?

As you enter the Valley proper, you stumble upon a small indent to the side, nearly obscured by the tall grass surrounding you. As you head over for a closer look, a lone eye stares back at you, oddly calm despite having their hiding place discovered so easily. The Unown slowly hovers to your eye level, curious to see what you will do next but making no clear movements.

A large Bird hovered above a young adult, who was wearing a baseball hat and a thin small blue hoodie and jeans. The young man walked past a small shack, with the words 'Ranger Outpost' painted across the side. He looked ahead and stared at the size of the Meteor Valley. He examined his surroundings. In the distance was a small cave and to the left of that was a small gravel track which lead off into a thick dense forest. However a sparkle caught Alex's eye in a patch of grass, to the right of the cave entrance. Alex carefully walked forward, not knowing what was lying amongst the grass. When he was centimetres away, he looked closer and was suddenly surprised. A large plate with an eye stared directly at him. Alex took a few steps back, watching the thing float closer towards him. Panicking, Alex removed a small PokeDoll from his rucksack and held it out towards the Pokemon.

Alex had no interest in the Pokemon Unkown and awaited what the Pokemon did next.

The Unown, seeing your indecision, narrows its eye in anger and prepares to attack. Thankfully, it is distracted by your Doll at the last moment and you and Amor manage to escape.

You follow the canyon wall for a while, the path sloping gently downwards as the trail continues on. As you approach a small cave opening nearby, a Bisharp slowly steps out of the cave and looks over at you. Judging from the look in the Pokemon's eyes, it is clearly not impressed in what it sees.

Unknown eye's flared up and started to make its way towards Alex violently. Alex quickly raised the Pokedoll towards the Unknown, distracting it for a couple of seconds. Now was the chance to run, and Alex quickly dropped the Poke Doll and ran away from the Unknown. It was strange, Unknown tended to be very calm and peaceful Pokemon, but the way Unknown reacted was very strange.

Alex continued to walk down the path, leading in a large canyon. Alex took a few pictures with his personal camera and watched Amor fly around the canyon, dipping and diving through the sky. Alex noticed a small cave up ahead, however there was dark silhouette standing in the entrance. Alex looked forward, hoping to catch a small detail, however it was useless. He walked forward, bracing himself for anything to happen. When he got closer, he realized what the silhouette was. It was a Bisharp, and didn't look too happy. Alex quickly turned around and started to run away from the Bisharp.

As you turn to run away, the Bisharp quickly rushes forward to block off your escape path. While it might not be happy to see you, the wild Pokemon clearly wants to battle. It looks towards Amor and makes a quick slashing motion with one of its claws, as if telling the Togekiss to hurry up and decide upon a move.

As Alex turned around, Bisharp leaped into the air and landed in front of him. This made running away a lot harder. Amor glided towards Bisharp and then planted her feet on the floor, directly opposite Bisharp. Bisharp started to taunt Togekiss, raising his blade forward and backwards. Alex didn't have much choice, however this Bisharp looked very dangerous, and battling it may not be the best idea. Alex shouted to Togekiss, "Togekiss, created a small whirlwind by flapping your wings together, hopefully this will distract Bisharp and give us a quick getaway." Alex's intentions were to get as far away from Bisharp as possible.

Amor's distraction proves effective as Bisharp raises his arms in an attempt to ward off the wind. Seeing this opening, you and Amor quickly run away.

The path eventually evens out, though now rock walls flank both your left and right. You see a crack in the wall nearby, just wide enough to squeeze through, when another Pokemon approaches you. The Beldum makes a single cry, then latches itself to the nearby wall.

Alex watched as the winds swept Bisharp back. Now it was time. "Amor, lets go!" Alex shouted to Amor. Amor quickly stopped and followed Alex towards the cave, where they first encountered Bisharp. Alex didn't look back and quickly ran down the cave, praying that Bisharp was to dumb and slow to catch him. After several minuets of running, Alex halted for a quick breather. He looked ahead and noticed a small crack in the wall. Intrigued, Alex walked forward and insert his arm, testing whether he could scale through the gap. However immediately, a small metal Pokemon exploded out of the gap. It was Beldum. Alex sighed and walked away, hoping the Beldum wouldn't give them that much trouble.

The Beldum, thankfully, appears content with where it is at the moment. After making sure it is safely secure, the wild Pokemon slowly closes its eye and goes to sleep.

Ignoring the crack for now, you follow the right wall and discover a small natural shelf sticking out of the wall just above eye level. As you try to think of a way to see if anything may be hiding from there, a small Pokemon peers down at you- a Chingling.

Alex watched as Beldum slowly look towards him, and looking at Amor. It was reasonable for a wild Pokemon to check out the intruders to its habitat. After examining both Alex and Amor, the small metal Pokemon slowly wriggled its way back into the crack and suddenly turned off like a light switch. Those red dimming down into a deep sleep. Alex took this sign as submission and carried on walking down the track. The dark corridors winded around the valley, leading to small random rooms. Alex walked into a small room, it was barely lit with a small candle flickering on a large table. However Alex fixed his eyes to a large bookcase resting on the wall. He walked forward and studied the bookcase. Alex lifted a book of the shelve and blew the white silky dust off the book. He examined the front cover of the book and opened the first page.

Meteor Valley: 101

Alex looked interested and started to read the first page. Amor on the other hand started to fly around the room. Amor was not the Togekiss related to Contests, however Alex trained Amor to battle and become a tough Pokemon to beat. As Alex was reading, he heard a small knock behind the bookcase. Alex placed the book on the table and peered behind the suitcase. A small Chingling poked it's head around the bookcase, frightening Alex. Alex took a few steps back and stared at the Chingling. Amor immediately flew in front of Alex, creating a barrier between the wild Pokemon and Alex.

Alex looked pumped and decided to battle the Chingling. Amor spread her wings and showed her beauty and power. Alex smiled and said to Togekiss, "Ok, use your Hidden Power and aim it at Chingling, then I want you to use Yawn, hopefully that will make the battle more easier and make Chingling easier to capture."

OOC: Gender?

As Amor launches her Hidden Power, Chingling lets out a loud cry of pain, falling down from its shelf. In retaliation, it launches a crackling Charge Beam at the Togekiss, the move causing its stats to rise. While Amor's Yawn has caused the wild Pokemon to become drowsy, it still has enough energy to barrage its opponent with an Icy Wind.

"Ok, use your Hidden Power and aim it at Chingling, then I want you to use Yawn, hopefully that will make the battle easier and make Chingling easier to capture."

Amor nodded with agreement and started to generate a lot of energy. She held her large white wings close to her body and started to form some small orb saplings, positioned in an eclipse. Togekiss started channel all the energy into the saplings, causing a reaction that made them increase in size. It was like watching a plant grow. The energy Togekiss was channelling acted like a growth reagent, increasing the rate of growth. The move was ready and Togekiss fired the eclipse of small orbs towards Chingling. The colour suddenly darkened and a black trail of excess energy fell behind. The eclipse smashed into Chingling, sending the Bell Pokemon crashing into the book case. Books tumbled down onto the psychic Pokemon.

Chingling quickly got up and started to glow in a bright yellow colour. Alex didn’t like the look of this attack and quickly moved to the left. Chingling started to crackle and sparks of electricity started to pour out from Chingling. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning emerged from the body of Chingling and zapped its way through the cold air. The lightning collided with Amor and sent the Flying Pokemon crashing into the ground.

Alex quickly ran over to Amor and knelt down on one knee. “Amor, Amor, can you hear me?” Alex asked. There was no reply. Alex hugged the body of Amor and started to whisper something into her ear.

“Do you remember when we first met? It was a sunny day and you were a small Togepi. You were forced into a clan and you were made a servant to all the other Pokemon. However I walked past and noticed this as you were being pushed around by the other Pokemon. I intervened and saved you. From then, we have been close. You were my second Pokemon, and my most reliable option in many situations. We’ve had our downs and we’ve had our ups, however don’t give up. I believe in you.”

Amor slowly opened one eye, like it was listening to Alex all the time. She slowly made her way back onto her feet and stared at the small bell Pokemon. However there was a difference, this Chingling looked a lot bigger than before, like it got stronger somehow. Alex then remembered the effects of the move Charge Beam. It enhanced the Special Attack of the user if it hit. Chingling was going to be a lot harder to take down now.

Amor, recovering from the previous attack, started to inhale a lot of air. As soon as she was full like a balloon, she exhaled the air; however there was something strange about the air she breathed out. The air solidified into a small light pink cloud. The cloud slowly plodded its way across the room, before being absorbed by Chingling. Chingling started to yawn. Alex smiled, the move had worked. Any minute now, Chingling would be fast asleep.

However it looked like Chingling wasn’t going to sleep any time soon and started to form a small light blue orb in front of him. Once the light blue orb was completed, it started to breathe air through the orb. As soon as the air passed through the orb, some of the air particles started to form into small snow flakes. After analyzing the attack, Alex realized what the move was. It was Icy Wind, a move which lowers the speed of the target. The Icy Wind collided into Amor, decreasing her temperature. Amor felt cold and as a result, she started to move a lot slower because the cold air froze her joints.

Alex looked ahead and watched the Chingling in front them. It started to dance around in the air, enticing Amor to attack. Alex started to formulize a plan of action. It was a small room, so a move like Sky Attack will not work. Amor is now slower than Chingling, so we will have to brace an attack first. Chingling is about to fall asleep, which is a bonus when capturing the Pokemon. Alex whipped out his Pokedex and scanned Chingling, hoping to find any extra information.

Chingling, the Bell Pokémon. It makes sounds by vibrating an orb in the back of its throat, and it moves by hopping.

Alex then looked underneath the description and found a percentage. This percentage shows the amount of energy Chingling has left. The number read 36%. Alex was weary that a too powerful move will knock out Chingling, however he needed to reduce Chingling’s health somehow.

He looked at Amor at started to think. What move would not knock out Chingling, however put its health around 8%. Alex started to think really hard and then suddenly it came to him. He looked towards Amor and said, “Amor, I want you to use Extreemspeed. After that, take a breather. You deserve it.”

Togekiss performs her ExtremeSpeed technique admirably, sending the wild Chingling flying in the air for a moment. While the Psychic-type is ovbiously fighting the effects of sleep, it manages to forsee a Future Sight attack before finally dozing off.

“Amor, I want you to use Extreemspeed. After that, take a breather. You deserve it.” Alex shouted to Amor.

Amor understood and immediately set off. She bolted from left to right, and back to left, like a zig-zag. Her image was blurred and you could only make out her key features, for example her small three-pointed crest. Chingling was completely caught off guard and was not expecting the speed and power of Togekiss. Amor started to spin around in mid-air, showing off her elegance. Although she was a strong fighter, Amor still had the common love for Contest and always looks for ways to show off.

Chingling was sent flying through the air and collapsed onto the ground. The small bell Pokemon got back onto its feet and stared Amor. It started to breathe heavily and look very tired. Alex didn’t need to check his Pokedex to tell that Chingling was tired. With the last ounce of strength, Chingling shut its eyes, focusing hard, and then opened them. Alex noticed that Chingling’s eyes turned into a different colour. The previous black hollow colour was now a light blue colour. Then Chingling’s body followed suit and soon Chingling was a glowing blue light.

It was different seeing Chingling like this however seconds later, he returned to his original colour. What was that move? Alex withdrew a small red pocket book from his bag and started to flick through the pages. He halted on the title, “Change of Colour Moves” He scanned the page, looking for eye change and also body change. His finger halted and he shouted out, “Hazzar!”

“On the turn Future Sight is selected, this attack will do nothing other than say that the user has foreseen an attack. Two turns later, Future Sight will do damage against the target,” Alex read out.


So that’s what the move was, Future Sight. This Pokemon is very trixy.


Whilst Alex was searching for the move, Chingling suddenly fell into a deep sleep and the sound of mummers filled the room. Alex looked towards Amor and noticed that she was somewhat hurt from that battle. He looked into a small box, given by some rangers before he entered the park, and withdrew a small bag with the words: Energy Powder.

He opened the bag and poured the powder into a small bottle of water. He shook the bottle and handed it over to Togekiss. The man who explained everything said that this Power can heal any wounds. Togekiss drank the mixed water and suddenly felt vitalized. Alex dug deeper into his bag and withdrew a large ball, with the letter ‘H’ inscribed on the front. He kissed the Hyper Ball, for good luck, and threw it towards the sleeping Chingling.

While Amor finishes down one of the Energy Powder packets, you throw the Hyper Ball straight at Chingling. Due to being so weakened, it hardly puts up a struggle and you succeed with no problem.

You don't get far before a loud cawing from above makes you look about, trying to find the cause of the noise. Peering to the skies, you see a large winged form circling ever lower- a Honchkrow.

The Hyper Ball gracefully flew through the air, finally bouncing off the bell structure of Chingling. The capsule opened up and a red laser emerged out, hitting Chingling, The bell Pokemon was then dissolved into the red laser and flew into the ball. The Hyper Bal started to roll from left to right, and then back to its left. Then, with the sound of a click, the ball stopped rolling. Alex picked the ball up in his right hand and raised it into the air, posing dramatically like some trainer he saw on television. He placed the ball into his bag and called forth Amor.

“Amor, it looks like we have a new friend, do you want to say hello properly?” Alex asked Amor, who looked a lot better after drinking the Energy Powder. Alex withdrew the Hyper Ball from his bag and pointed it towards the floor. He pressed the button and waited for Chingling to come out. However there was a problem. Chingling was not coming out, almost like the ball was programmed to not let the Pokemon out. He then suddenly remembered what the tall man who gave him his Park Items said.

“Now these are you Pokeballs. They will only work in the park and once you capture a Pokemon, they are triggered not to be released again until you finish your run. That way, you can’t use that Pokemon in a battle.”

Alex placed Chingling’s ball into his bag and turned to Amor, asking if it was ready to go. Amor nodded and followed Alex as they left the small dim room. They walked down the small tunnels of Meteor Valley, which seemed to go on forever. They were supposedly founded by explorers when the park didn’t exist. The started to dig threw the valley, hoping to find some leftover meteorite rock, Hfrom when the meteorite crashed into the valley. Rumours say that they were lucky and found meteorite, with some claiming that the meteor rock in Nacrene City. However other explores denied this rumour and said that there were no meteorites found. Alex on the other hand had no interest with the meteorites and simply just wanted to capture the Pokemon that occupied this Valley.

Alex walked ahead of Amor, hoping to see some natural light. After being stuck down in a tunnel for a while, you vision adapted to the available light source, which happened to be the flickering of the lights. Alex could sense that Amor didn’t like being trapped, and that she just wanted to fly through the cool windy sky. Thinking of that made Alex miss it that much more and he was determined to find a way out.

Then all of a sudden, a bright white appeared in the distance, rays of light pierced through the darkness of the cave. Alex smiled, finally freedom. He felt like a Chilean Miner, who was trapped in a mine for 69 days, finally seeing sunlight. He rushed towards the exit and as soon as he stood out side, bathed in the sunlight. As soon as Amor left the cave, she opened her wings and soared through the sky. After Alex adapted to the fresh air, he started to gaze around. He had managed to reach the centre of the valley, where the meteorite supposedly crashed. There were many cave entrances surrounding the valley, and there were also a lot of Pokemon scattered around. He looked into the valley and noticed a group of Pawniards having a small fight. Alex looked up at the sky and whispered.

“Thank God that isn’t me,”


He turned around and looked down at a small patch of grass. A Poochyena and a Purrlion raced through the grass, playfully fighting as they run. Alex smiled and sat down on surface, with his legs dangling down the side. He removed a small personal camera and started to take a few pictures from this glorious position. He zoomed his lens on the Pawniards, catching a shot of one of them throwing a punch into the others face. He retracted his camera and looked at the picture. He laughed under his breath and turned to find the two Pokemon, who were racing through the grass. He noticed the grass move and focused his lens on that position. Both Pokemon quickly tumbled out of the grass, and the Poochyena was on top of the Purrlion, rolling about in the gravel. Alex took a quick shot and retracted the camera again, looking at his picture.

These might sell for a lot.


Then, all of a sudden, a dark silhouette appeared from above, blocking out the bright rays of the sun. Alex looked up and just saw a large black bird soaring through the sky. In the corner of his eye he noticed the two Pokemon, who were previously playing the in grass, hiding behind a huge rock. The Pawniards quickly followed suit and ran back into the cave. What ever that Pokemon was, it looked like it ruled the roost around here. Alex called to Amor, “Amor, I want you to return.”


Amor glided back towards Alex, touching down gracefully like a plane. Alex rustled her crown and took a few steps forward. The dark Pokemon circled around and started to cry out loud. The cry echoed through the valley, amplifying the sound even more. Alex clasped his hands over his ears and waited for the cry to end. As the dark Pokemon flew closer, he managed to get a better view.

Alex looked closer and noticed something looking like a fedora hat. He looked below the hat and caught a glimpse of evil looking eyes. The Pokemon noticed Alex and turn around, swishing its white neat crest of feathers. As it turned around, Alex finally realized what Pokemon it was and quickly removed a small red and white Pokedex from his jacket pocket, making sure it was the right Pokemon. He held the Pokedex vertical and started to scan the airborne Pokemon.

However instead of scanning the Pokemon, the Pokedex simply turned itself off and started to flash an image, telling the user it is out of battery. Alex sighed and placed the Pokedex back into his jacket pocket and pulled out his Iphone. Although he didn’t have the Pokedex Application, he had enough signal to search the internet. The Dark Bird turned around and started to fly directly towards Alex. Alex didn’t have much time. He opened up Google and typed in: ‘Pokemon with Fedora looking hat’. The bleeped and started to load the page, Alex looked up at the ongoing bird and then glanced back down. He scanned the Google search result and finally identified the Pokemon.

“Honchkrow, the Big Boss Pokémon and the evolved form of Murkrow. Honchkrow recruits many Murkrow to travel with it, and it spends much of its time at home preening its feathers,” replied a small synthetic voice from inside his jacket pocket.

“Now you work, you piece of second hand junk,” Alex said to the Pokedex.

Alex turned to Amor and nodded, giving it a signal to get ready to battle. Togekiss cried out loud as it launched into the air. Alex watched as the Honchkrow stopped right before Amor, acknowledging his opponent. Alex knew that he had to be quick with his commands, because if he dawdled around, Amor could be in serious trouble. Alex looked around and noticed the whole valley had been clear, only Amor, Honchkrow and himself stood in this historic valley. Alex shouted to Amor, “Amor, I want you to use Ancient Power, it is super effective and will dent the confidence of Honchkrow.”

Amor nodded with acknowledgement and turned around to face Honchkrow. The two Flying Pokemon caught each others eye, staring intensely. Alex looked to his left and noticed a small rock, which looked like a perfect view to witness the battle from. Alex hurried towards the rock and stood on top, looking down at the two bird Pokemon.

OOC: Honchkrow gender?

As Amor's AncientPower strikes the Honchkrow, one of the rocks from the moves knock the Pokemon off-balance, sending it crashing down to the ground. As the Honchkrow picks itself off from the ground, it gives Amor a death glare and releases a terrifying Snarl.

“Amor, I want you to use Ancient Power, it is super effective and will dent the confidence of Honchkrow.” Alex commanded.

After Alex had taken position on the rock, overlooking the battle field, Amor started to get to work. The large Jubilee Pokemon started to fly around in a large ring, repeating this process every second. It looked like a Ferris wheel, spinning around in an amusement park. Then Amor started to glow in a bright white colour with sparkles shinning in the sun. If a passer-bye saw Togekiss in this state, they would certain join the group who believe there are some Pokemon out there with vampire powers and behaviours. However Amor was no way near a vampire, if she was anything else, she would be a puppy. Amor cried out loud and suddenly channelled the glowing white energy into her movements. The energy formed a light trail behind Amor, creating a small thin ring. The energy followed Amor in a circle and suddenly Amor stopped, landing in the middle of this thin small ring. Honchkrow by this point was bewildered by the actions of the Togekiss and simply taking a back seat and wondering what would happen. Amor, now settled in the middle of the ring, started to glow again; however this time, she started to glow in a light dusty brown colour. Although Alex had witnessed this move a thousand times, he was still intrigued by the patience and care Amor put into this move. The ring had to be the right size; the energy trail had to have the right thickness. Amor suddenly released all the energy like an explosion. Small fragments of energy, now formed in rock-like shapes, crashed into the light white ring, surrounding Amor. As soon as the rock-like fragments touched the light white ring, they froze inside. Amor was now surrounded by a toughened up ring, with small fragments sticking out. Amor wasn’t finished just yet. She cried out loud, emitting a beam of energy from her mouth. The energy was fired upon the small fragments and the fragments started to grow because of it. It was like a plant fertilizer, it speeds up the growth process. Now hovering before Amor was a ring of huge boulders. Alex hinted a small worry in Honchkrow’s eye. This Pokemon wasn’t stupid, it knew what was coming and was simply planning ahead.

Amor flew above the freshly created boulders, taking a bird’s eye view of her creation. After a quick check, Amor started to flap her wings, creating a strong gale which carried the boulder ring towards Honchkrow. The boulders slowly dispatched from the ring and fell towards the Big Boss Pokemon. Honchkrow tried to protect himself by raising his left wing as a shield. However the boulder tumbled down and forced the Big Boss Pokemon closer to the ground. Honchkrow couldn’t fly up, because on of the boulders managed to clip its wing, sending it off balance. It also didn’t help when you have boulders falling from the sky. Honchkrow crashed into the valley’s pit and then being covered up by the remaining falling boulders. Amor quickly glanced over to Alex. Alex smiled and raised his right hand and formed a thumb up towards her. Amor smiled and looked down at the pile of boulders.

Alex started to wonder whether he had taken it a bit too far and that Honchkrow is badly hurt because of this. Taking no chances, Alex climbed down from the rock and made his way towards the centre of the valley. After climbing down from the rock, Alex noticed a small rocky path which leads down to one of the valley’s levels. He took his time, making sure the rock wouldn’t collapse on him if he slipped. After successfully managing to scale down the rocky path, he noticed the same two Pokemon who were playing in the grass. He looked at them and quickly said, “Flee, this place isn’t safe, you could be hurt by any falling rocks. Go inside!” He swept the air with his hands, implying them to go into the cave. The Pokemon quickly followed orders and ran into the cave entrance, however stayed in the entrance. Alex gave up and started to walk around the valley, hoping to find another path which could lead to the penultimate level. Then he heard a small cry from above. He looked up and noticed that it was Amor and it seemed like she was guiding Alex around the valley. Amor started to flap her wings violently towards a certain direction. Alex looked at the wings and followed their path. He noticed in the distance something that resembled an old rockslide. The rocks were in a perfect position to scale the valley’s edge. Alex quickly ran over to the rocks and hastily scaled down the rocks. As he was half way down, his right foot lost grip and slipped off the rock. He reached for the closest ledge and dangled down the valley side. His right foot started to swing around, trying to find something to stand on. After trying for a while, he managed to plant his foot onto a small ledge. Taking a quick breather, he progressed down the valley side with caution. He looked around and quickly noticed that there was a congregation of Pokemon surrounding the pile of boulders.

Each Pokemon did its role and slowly removed the boulders, lying on top of Honchkrow. Even the two Pokemon Alex had told to stay away from the valley helped, by removing the smallest of rocks. Alex wanted to help however he felt that if he took a step down there, each Pokemon would violently attack him for what he did to Honchkrow. Then a large black wing appeared from the rubble and started to twitch. Alex sighed, Honchkrow was alright. Then suddenly, the rocks pilling on top of Honchkrow were blasted away and Honchkrow flew up towards Amor.

Wow, that Honchkrow is one tough Pokemon.

The Pokemon who helped Honchkrow suddenly vacated the basin, all entering a small cave lying at the bottom. Alex looked around, hoping to find a way back up to that key hotspot where he could over look the battle. Now, Alex couldn’t communicate to Amor and he couldn’t get a good view of the battle. Then Alex noticed some of the Pokemon, who had previously helped free Honchkrow, appearing around the valley, becoming spectators to the battle. Soon more Pokemon came and within minuets the arena was full. Alex felt like a Gladiator with all the Pokemon looking down on him. Alex quickly turned around and progressed towards a cave, hoping it took him right back to the top.

The caves were dark and completely different to the other caves he had been in. There was minimal light and all the light came from the sunlight, entering at the entrances of the caves. Alex started to walk up the steep path. He heard the roars and cries of the Pokemon outside, he had to hurry. After minutes of walking, the light started to get brighter and within seconds, Alex was finally back at the top of the valley. He took a few steps forward and looked at Amor. She seemed to be pretty happy at this time, and was content so far. Alex quickly took his position at the top of the rock, where he was previously standing.

Honchkrow stared towards Amor and suddenly snarled out loud. Alex looked towards Amor and noticed something very strange. Amor started to shake, almost like she was a little bit scared of Honchkrow. Alex knew what the attack was, and also knew what the consequences are.

“Amor, it’s OK. That move was called Snarl, a move which terrifies the opponent, making them act quicker with Special Attacks, and which then means the power is decreased by their quick actions. Don’t worry, everything is OK. Just relax,” Alex said to Amor, hoping to explain what has happened and also comfort.

Honchkrow cried out loud, which was then followed by the roars of the other Pokemon surrounding the valley. Alex started to think carefully about the next moves. He started to asses the situation he was in. His opponent was Honchkrow, a duel type of Dark and Flying. It is weak to Electric, Ice and Rock Attacks. The battle arena is the sky, so there is no limit to where this battle can lead to. Although some might disagree, Honchkrow has just had a small rest and is now vitalised and ready to battle. Alex stopped thinking and turned to Amor.

“Amor, I want you to use Double-Edge and then follow it by using Yawn. You can do it, I believe in you,” Alex said to Amor.

Amor nodded and turned around to face Honchkrow. She was geared up for the battle 100%.

Amor brutally rams into the wild Honchkrow, doing a considerable amount of damage to the Dark-type. Unfortunately, while the Togekiss is reeling from the recoil, the wild Pokemon grips her with a powerful Psychic attack and shoves Amor back violently.

Amor manages to shake off the assault, and commences using Yawn. While it does succeed in making the Honchkrow drowsy, it dive-bombs with a Faint Attack in return.

“Amor, I want you to use Double-Edge and then follow it by using Yawn. You can do it, I believe in you,” Alex said to Amor.

Amor nodded in agreement and stared directly at Honchkrow. Her eyes started to turn in a pale creamy colour. She cried out loud as she sped towards the Big Boss Pokemon. Then as she was speeding towards Honchkrow, a light blue aura surrounded the body of Amor. The aura looked like electricity, and some could anticipate that Amor was charging herself with electricity, however it wasn’t the case. Alex had a small worry inside; it was the fact that Amor has had previous problems controlling this attack.

“Ok Amor, lets start training. Use Double-Edge!” Alex commanded. The Togekiss nodded and started to soar off in a straight line. A white trail suddenly appeared behind her, and she looked like a bullet. She zipped past Alex and was aiming for the scarecrow, placed in the middle of the field. Alex looked on as Togekiss flew towards the scarecrow, however half way through, the power was too much and crashed into the grass. Alex quickly ran towards the crash site, and noticed a small crater formed around Togekiss. Alex quickly aided the fallen Pokemon and with seconds Togekiss was back on her feet.

“You need to be control, don’t be scared of this power.” Alex said as he turned around towards Togekiss. She sensed some doubt about his tone and immediately took off into the skies, hoping to please her trainer.

Togekiss turned around and nodded towards Alex, indicating that she was ready. Then Alex commanded, “Togekiss, use Double-Edge!”

She sped off towards the scarecrow, faster than before. Alex looked worried, maybe she was putting to much power into the move and not concentrating. As she sped by, a white trail of energy trailed behind her. She looked confident and stayed in a straight line however as soon as she was about 3 meters away from the scarecrow she choked and suddenly started to shake all over the place. She crashed into the ground, creating another crater. Alex quickly ran over to Togekiss and again and said to the Jubilee Pokemon, “I think we’ll have a break.”

As Alex was treating Togekiss’ wounds and bruises, an old man slowly approached Alex. His walking stick was sacking violently and the old man placed both hands on the stick. His grey hair was swept back and he was wearing a one suit, with a white t-shirt underneath. He staggered his way closer, breathing heavily. Alex stood up and walked towards the old man, saving him the trouble. When Alex had gotten closer, he suddenly remembered who this man was. He was one of the village elders and the oldest man in the village. He was an adventurer and also a Breeder back in his prime. He made his way to the big league and was a huge sell-out. However ever since the accident with his wife, he remains in his house; refusing to talk to anyone.

Alex wondered why the old man was here and asked, “Hello sir, what is it that you want?”

The Old Man looked up at the young teenager and smiled. He replied, “I’ve been watching you and your Togekiss train for some time now, and it seems you have a small problem perfecting the move Double-Edge.”

Alex nodded in agreement and was about to say something, however the old man continued to talk.

“You see, Togekiss are a powerful species with a unique presence. Some people define them as the Ideal Contest Pokemon, because of their beauty and elegance when they battle. So when training a Togekiss, it is important to remember what they really stand for. When Togekiss uses Double-Edge, it concentrates on the power of the attack; instead it should be concentrating on the image. Try asking Togekiss to put less power into her attacks, and focus on the image of the attack.”

At first Alex thought the old man was crazy. Telling a Pokemon to put less power in an attack but put more glamour. However Alex had nothing else to do, and so listened to the old man. Alex turned around and faced Togekiss, calling out to her, “Togekiss, I want you to use Double-Edge, however this time focus on the style of the move rather than the power,”

Togekiss looked confused however obeyed her master and carried out Alex’s command. She flew directly up into the air before halting. She looked down at the scarecrow and started to dive down towards it. She opened her wings and started to spin around, like a torpedo head. Alex had never seen this side of Togekiss. Ever since he found her, she had been the toughest and the most powerful Pokemon he had ever trained. Seeing her like this, Alex started to doubt whether he actually knew her at all. As Togekiss slowly approached the ground, she diverted her course and started to sped horizontally towards the scarecrow. A white trail of energy appeared from behind her and her whole body started to glow in a white colour. Her speed increased and within seconds she smashed into the scarecrow. The scarecrow was suddenly torn to shreds, hay scattered across the field. However there was a problem, Togekiss couldn’t stop moving. Alex quickly shouted out loud, “Togekiss just crash into the ground; it won’t hurt as much as you think.”

Togekiss heard these words and dived into the ground, creating a huge dust cloud. Alex quickly ran over to Togekiss, and checked to see if she was ok. Togekiss chirped and suddenly took off into the air. Then Alex heard the sound of clapping from a distance. He pivoted his body 180 degrees and looked at the old man clapping. Alex walked closer and thanked the old man.

“You see, I was right. However you do need to realize that Double-Edge is a very powerful physical move, and will always deal recoil damage. In this case, it looks like Togekiss will always loose balance and crash into something, making her stop. Apart from that, it looks like you’ve perfected the move Double-Edge.” The Old Man said and turned his back. Before the Old Man left, he asked Alex, “Do you have a nickname for Togekiss, it seems fitting that if you want to enhance the bond between Pokemon and human, you must first name your Pokemon. So it feels special and unique.”

The Old Man slowly made his way down the trail and vanished from Alex’s view. Alex turned around and started to think of a suitable nickname, something less obvious and unique. Then he suddenly came out with this first name that came to his head; Amor. Amor is the Latin name for Cupid, god of love, so it seems fitting. He called forward Togekiss and said to her, “I think you deserve a nickname, something that is unique, special and represents who you really are. And so, I have decided to call you Amor.”

Togekiss chirped at the sound of the name and took off into the sky. Alex smiled, he had never seen Togekiss this happy before.


Amor crashed into Honchkrow, the light blue aura surrounded both Pokemon. Honchkrow managed to push Amor away, directing her off course. The Jubilee Pokemon couldn’t control its path and was helpless. She smashed into the rocks, implanted into the Meteor’s walls. Her body created a crater and Togekiss was resting inside. She groaned and looked towards Honchkrow. Honchkrow cried out loud and its eyes turned into a different colour. The previous black and white was no longer and now they were transformed into a purple-blue colour. Alex started to worry about Amor now, she had received a lot of damage so far from the recoil and if Honchkrow was using Psychic, Amor would be in serious trouble.

Honchkrow spread out its wings and started to flap them together furiously. Then Honchkrow started to fire waves of psychic energy from its ears. When the two waves interfered, the gusting wind sent them flying towards Amor. The small waves of psychic energy crashed into the body of Amor. Alex had to admit that the Pokemon standing before them was a very powerful one. Alex shouted out loud, “Common Amor, you can do this!”

Amor heard this call and suddenly flew herself out of the crater. She flew towards Alex and stopped right before him, creating a shield from Pokemon to Trainer. Amor wasn’t risking anything after seeing the power that Honchkrow had. Suddenly, Amor turned around and looked at Alex, with a puzzled face. Alex said to Amor, “Use Yawn, hopefully that will give us some more time.”

Amor understood and returned to the air. She stared into they eyes of Honchkrow and then started to form a small pink orb in her mouth. At first the orb was small and looked like a pearl however Amor started to feed the orb with energy and by every second, the orb grew. It stopped growing till it was at its maximum size. Amor gently sent the glowing pink orb away from her mouth and caught it with her wings. Then, she started to breathe in air, filling her up like a large balloon. When Amor was full with air, she released the air and sent it through the pink orb. The pink orb absorbed all of the air and compressed into a small cloud. The cloud was ejected from the pink ball, and was sent flying towards Honchkrow. The cloud had similar properties with the pink orb, for one being pink and also had the same sparkle. Honchkrow tried to protect itself from the cloud by raising its wings; however the large pink cloud simply passed through the wings, like it was a ghost. Honchkrow looked at the pink cloud and watched it be sucked into his mouth. Honchkrow coughed and suddenly gave out a loud yawn.


It worked


However Honchkrow wasn’t quite finished and suddenly disappeared in mid-air. Amor started to panic and looked around, trying to find Honchkrow. Alex wanted to tell Amor it was ok, however he couldn’t lie. Honchkrow suddenly appeared directly behind Amor. Alex tried to tell Amor; however the Honchkrow quickly flew towards her, producing a dark black trail tailing him. Honchkrow slammed into the Togekiss, who was completely unaware of the presence of Honchkrow. Togekiss was sent crashing into the ground, metres away from Alex’s position. Alex quickly scaled down the rocks and hurried to Amor. He knelt down on one knee and said, “Don’t give up Amor, you can do this. Honchkrow looks tired and with one more hit, this battle will be finished.”

Amor looked up at the concerning Alex and slowly made her way back up. She looked at Alex and then sped back into the sky. Alex looked at Amor and said to himself, “That’s my girl, she is one strong Togekiss.”

Alex climbed back up the rock and shouted out to Amor, “Amor, use Extremespeed, and then take a rest.”
