Argent, what would you do if I was a human? Chimey asked her trainer, one Argent Silverswift, out of the blue. Argent raised his eyebrows and shook his head slightly, turning in his seat towards the light blue Wind Chime Pokémon. That was probably the strangest question he'd ever heard, and one of the most intriguing at the same time. However, Argent felt like poking some fun at her -- after all, the question was nonsense. There'd never be any situation in which a Pokémon was transformed into a human, no matter what. There was nothing out there that had the ability to do that, natural or man-made... and there probably never would be. That would be too tremendous a thing to even contemplate, as a matter of fact -- he was sure other Pokémon before Chimey had came up with the extreme possibility, but Argent simply shrugged it off. If something like that happened, it would never be in his lifetime, at least.

I don't know, Chimey... I'd probably say 'hello', he replied finally.

That's a disappointing response, dear trainer.

I'm a disappointing kind of person. Now, how about I get on with some more paperwork? Argent suggested, his cornflower-blue eyes glinting in the artificial light of the office. He smirked slightly, swivelling in his chair to fully face his desk again. Pulling his chair in, he began to furiously scratch at the pages with his pen, working hard like he always did. He didn't actually object to the immense amounts of paperwork, but the fact was that he was always getting on with a lot of it just before he went on to ranger some runs. That was almost always coincidental -- he was never, in fact, already out enjoying the fresh air, or ill, or anything else exciting. It was always paperwork. So, he had a small inkling of a feeling that a run would be coming his way soon.

Chimey had floated off somewhere, and she decided to go and entertain one of the tight-lipped secretaries for a while. Her sunny disposition contrasted with their gloomy hard work, and she enjoyed whimsically taunting them from time to time, and it had almost became a habitual way to amuse herself when Argent was not being on runs. However, when she floated across, one of the secretaries made to get up and flee before Chimey could bother them.

No, wait! she exclaimed, throwing the thought into the woman's head. She clearly hadn't had much experience with the psychic side of things, as she turned deadly pale and began shivering. The woman was actually afraid of her. Remarkably enough, that was. I'm just wondering if there are any runs available.

"Uhm, o-okay..." the woman trailed off, sitting down at her seat. She picked through a few files, and she glanced down at one that was unclaimed as of yet -- it was a free run, one that had came in only a while earlier to the Chimecho coming over to the desk. Even though the Wind Chime Pokémon wasn't a ranger, she knew she'd seen her around before, and so she obviously belonged to one of the rangers here -- she definitely wasn't a stray Pokémon from Meteor Valley who enjoyed hanging around here, obviously enough. She pushed forward the files, and Chimey negligently flipped her ribbon-like tail towards them, enveloping them in psychic energy. Lifting them into the air, she simply floated off once more.

As she returned to Argent's desk, she slapped the files down in front of him, on top of the other paperwork he was trying to do.

Congratulations, it's a boy, she spoke sardonically. One Alex Fisher, ready to go on a run. I just claimed this for you, so you may as well go. It's in Meteor Valley, and we're already at the outpost. We'll just wait by the gates for him to arrive.

Argent stood up, dragged on a dark coat, and snatched up the files, stuffing them into his satchel. Glancing at Chimey, he simply followed suit as she led him from the outpost, and they walked for about two minutes to get to the gates. He didn't think he'd bother any of his other Pokémon by asking them to come here -- it would just be him and Chimey together. Usually, he took at least one other of his Pokémon, but he didn't seem to be that bothered this time. He whistled gently to wile away the time, certain that whoever Chimey had claimed the run from would notify the trainer to get here already. Argent looked around into the murkiness of Meteor Valley -- although it was home to many lively things, the place often seemed... bleak.

The clouds settled down over the steep, uneven path which leads up towards the outpost. At the bottom, stamped into the ground, was a crooked wooden sign graphitized by some young trainers. The sign used to read as Meteor Valley Outpost 8#, now the vandalized sign reads as, Parzk Suzks. As Alex walked past the sign, he picked out his mobile phone and took a picture of the sign.

“I’m sure the other Park Wardens will fix that, don’t want people thinking that,” Alex said to himself, something which he frequently does. Behind the tall blonde man, appeared a large purple sphere with hands and legs attached. The Cheshire cat like smiled was slapped on the front, directed beneath two, devil like, eyes. Alex turned around and stared at the floating sphere before calling to it, “Dusanek, hurry up, we don’t want to keep Ranger Argent Silverswift waiting,” Dusanek slumped his head down and carried on walking ahead. Someone is in a bad mood

Alex walked further up the hill, admiring the view as he was walking along. Despite the dull, murky weather, Alex could still see a lot of the park. He could just pick out the Great Lakes in the distance, with the huge lake surrounded by small islands inhabited by Pokemon like Slowpoke and Krabby. Soon, after walking for a while, Alex reached the top of the hill and saw a person and a Pokemon waiting by a large gate. As Alex walked closer, he could see that it was Argent and his partner Chimecho. Alex greeted Argent with a firm handshake and said, “Hello Argent, I am Alex. I believe you’re going to take me through Meteor Valley?” Dusanek looked closely at Chimecho and smiled something which didn’t happen a lot. Then out of the blue, a synthetic voice appeared. Alex looked around helplessly and then soon figured where the voice was coming from. He opened his bag and removed a small handheld stereo. He looked at the screen, built into the front of the stereo, and noticed it was an Abra.

”Hmm, I must have played it whilst I was coming up the mountain. Well we will keep you playing. Let’s hope we see an Abra,” Alex said to Argent as he placed the stereo in the bag. He threw his bag over his shoulders and looked at Argent for any orders.

Argent watched from afar as a small blot in the distance gradually grew bigger -- he or she was obviously making their way towards the gate, and Argent had an inkling that it was going to be the trainer that they'd have to take on their run. Beside him, it seemed that there was some kind of creature, with a Cheshire Cat-like appearance -- Argent had seen one of these before. It was probably a Gengar, although he couldn't tell from the distance. He would have had Chimey check if they were really who he thought they were, but he preferred to have things just confirmed as they appeared, instead of getting to be told ahead of time -- sure, he had advantages, but he wasn't in a rush, so he didn't need to make any use of them. If this was a potentially dangerous situation, then sure, he'd need Chimey to do something about it, but as it was, nothing was going on. Argent was pretty sure he was repeating himself in his thoughts at this point, so he simply whistled a bit more as the two walked down together.

They finally arrived, and Argent smiled. It was confirmed now. He could only tell by the way the trainer was accompanied by a Gengar, but yes, this was most likely to be Alex. The man grabbed Argent by the hand, giving him a firm handshake -- Argent was never very confident about handshakes, although he put a brave face on it. What if he shook too soft? People might think he was a pansy or something... but if he shook too hard, people might get frightened or something. It was always a bit of a dilemma for him, but he did what came naturally, and no comments were passed, and he couldn't detect anything on Alex's face.

"Hello, Argent, I am Alex. I believe you’re going to take me through Meteor Valley?" Alex greeted, smiling at Argent.

"Hey, Alex! Welcome to Meteo--" Argent was cut off by an obnoxious cry from Alex's bag, and Alex put on a helpless expression as he rifled through his bag. Argent had recognised the cry by now as one of an Abra, and supposed that Alex had played the voice disk by accident -- obviously, he was here for an Abra, and Argent wondered if it'd take a long time to find one.

Dusanek, Alex's Gengar, gave Chimecho a large smile, which didn't seem like something usual for it. I swear, Chimey noted to Argent, if this guy's trying anything, I'll knock him flat. I can't believe that I'm able to breed with those creeps!

"Hmm, I must have played it whilst I was coming up the mountain. Well, we will keep you playing. Let’s hope we see an Abra." With that, Alex shouldered his backpack once more, and looked to Argent, almost as if expecting him to get started -- technically, Argent should have waited for him to say something, but he was, for some reason, itching to get the run started. Declaring something randomly, he pushed open the gates, leading Chimey, Alex and Dusanek the Gengar into the area only identified as Meteor Valley. Argent led them down into the actual 'valley' part, and they began to walk for a while, Alex's Voice Disk resounding through the area.

After only a few minutes of walking, a flash of light appeared right in front of them, and Argent almost tripped over in surprise. He halted himself just before falling, and stepped back slightly, bumping into Chimey as he did so. The Wind Chime Pokémon tinkled slightly in indignation, but did nothing else. The white light died away, and in its place was an Abra -- its eyes closed, of course, as was only natural for them. It turned its head from trainer to trainer, wondering which one it would be battling.

"Well, that's lucky," Argent said, giving a low whistle of surprise. "I suppose this doesn't need to be asked, but do you want to battle this Abra?"

Alex watched as Argent pushed the gates open, revealing a huge cavern ahead of them. Alex read somewhere that Meteor Valley consisted of a tunnel network which makes its way through the mountains, and on one side, there is a huge waterfall which crashes down onto a small lake. Also, there are rumours of legendary Pokemon lurking around at the bottom of the tunnels and even stories of Pokemon kidnapping trainers Pokemon. It’s a good thing Dusanek is a ghost Pokemon and could scare off other Pokemon.

The group took a left and headed down a small narrow dirt track. Alex turned his head and stared at the cavern entrance. He wondered what was down in those tunnels, maybe another day he would explore them. As they walked down the trail, Alex looked out across at the foliage around them. Despite the weather, the flowers were in bloom and small Pokemon zigzagged across them. Then a sudden though popped into Alex’s head. I wonder what life would be like as a Pokemon?

It was a warm summer’s day; the light slowly trickled through the cave and pierced through the darkness. I slowly woke up and gave out a small yawn before walking over to the entrance. I looked out and saw mountains and hill completely habited by Pokemon. Then a small butterfly floated in front of me, I raised my hand to try and swipe it, however when I raised my so called hand, it was all hairy with long sharp claws attached to the end. I panicked and paced around wondering what had happened. I glanced down at a puddle of water and saw my reflection. I was a Teddiursa. I walked further out of my cave, baffled by the transformation and sat down on a small rock placed by my side. I glanced up in the air and watched a flock of Pidgey fly by. Then in the corner of my eye, I saw a huge bird sit on a rock not to far away from me. I slowly turned my head, not trying to attract the attention of the bird. Then suddenly I noticed what the Pokemon was. It was a Mandibuzz. I slowly stood up, not trying to make a noise when suddenly; I accidentally kicked a pebble which tumbled down the mountain. The Mandibuzz glanced over to my direction and started to lick its dry beak. I turned around and ran as fast as I could towards the safe protection of the cave. However, within meters of the cave entrance, I felt a tug on my leg. I quickly turned my head and saw Mandibuzz holding onto it. Mandibuzz flew into the air, sweeping me off the ground.

Alex suddenly awoke from his daydream and looked at his hands, hoping the dream had ended. After making sure he was still human, he heard a familiar sound appearing from his backpack. However within seconds of playing, another sound, similar to the disk, appeared from a distance. Then a flash blinded Alex’s sight. Alex walked around screaming out loud. What had just happened? After a while, Alex regained his sight and noticed a small purple Pokemon in front of him, glancing at Argent and Alex.

"Well, that's lucky," Argent said, giving a low whistle of surprise. "I suppose this doesn't need to be asked, but do you want to battle this Abra?"

“Alright sweet, I will battle this Pokemon,” Alex cried out loud. He called forth Dusanek. The Purple Gas Pokemon walked forward and stared at the Abra. Alex looked around the surroundings, hoping the terrain would give some advantage. Just as Alex was about to give an order, he suddenly remembered an important fact about Abra. They are a tricky Pokemon and like to teleport in battle. Alex had to stop Abra from teleporting but how?

Alex looked at Abra, and then at Dusanek. Something was strange about Dusanek; it seemed that Dusanek was blushing a bit. Is Dusanek showing some emotions? Alex ignored this factor and suddenly came up with a plan.

“Dusanek, I want you to use Mean Look, so it will slow Abra down and then get close and use Shadow Ball.” Alex commanded Dusanek.

Something special about Abra, I don’t know what it is but I have always been fascinated about them. Let’s not let this one get away.

"All right, sweet. I will battle this Pokémon!" Alex cried out loud, startling the Wind Chime Pokémon that accompanied Argent somewhat, and also startling Argent while he was at it. That was kind of melodramatic, and Argent began to wonder if this man would prove to have serious issues -- he didn't want to have to deal with someone with 'issues'... not at the moment, at least. He hoped that the guy wouldn't be causing problems in the future -- he'd just have to keep a close eye on him, that would be all. Chimey looked apprehensively towards the trainer, wondering exactly why he shouted. She came to the conclusion that, probably, he was certifiably insane and by consequence should be avoided at all costs. That'd also probably explain the Gengar's pervertedness -- Chimey had suspicions that the creature was a pimp of the Pokémon world, and she hated pimps just as much as she hated Dark-types. A lot.

Alex called the Shadow Pokémon forth to battle grandly, and the thing stepped forwards, looking at the Abra that sat in front of the group. The Gengar took one look at the Abra, and it seemed that he was quite literally blushing -- Alex seemed to be surprised at that, particularly. It seemed that this onset of showing emotion from the Shadow Pokémon was not something that was actually usual for him, and so that must have been the only probable explanation for Alex's shock. Argent pondered on it slightly, but he'd never seen a Pokémon behave like this, not even in his research -- maybe it was because the Pokémon he'd known were not pimps, nor did they have trainers that screamed things out loud for no apparent reason. Perhaps the pair of them were both unhinged -- talking to Ghost-type Pokémon tended to do that to a person, as far as he'd seen. Of course, he'd only seen this in Lavender Town, Kanto. That place was full of creeps, weirdos, pimps, paedophiles, drug dealers and stuff.

"Dusanek, I want you to use Mean Look, so it will slow Abra down. Then, get close and use Shadow Ball," Alex commanded. Mean Look could also potentially have some kind of effect on Teleport, as Argent knew -- Mean Look tended to offhand Teleport from time to time, although it seemed that Abra could maybe not go under those particular effects -- she seemed to be quite strong-willed, kind of like Chimey, but not as sardonic, and probably not as trained or powerful yet. Shadow Ball would be very powerful against the Abra, especially since it was quite weak as a first-stage Pokémon. However, as Argent had already noted, the Abra seemed strong, and would probably surprise them all by how well she'd do in this battle.

To start, the Gengar dashed forwards, pulling a face as he ran. As he did, a green silhouette of his crazy expression protruded from his face, and shot towards the Abra, crashing into her own face. It seemed that the Abra was a bit disillusioned by that move, as she looked bedazzled as the Gengar dashed forwards to her. Flipping as he reached her, he soared through the air elegantly as a result of his Levitate ability, and landed on the other side of her. He swooped his arms in a circle, diving around each other, and soon, a gloopy orb of shadow energy had built up into a menacing sphere, and the Abra was too slow to do anything about it -- Gengar released the orb. It crashed into her back, and she skidded forwards upon the rocky ground, almost looking like she got whiplash in the process.

However, she retaliated -- opening her palm, she spun and directed it towards the Gengar, who didn't do anything in time to stop what was happening. A pink outline enveloped his body, and she picked him up with her psychic energy just as easily as a human would pick up a feather. She smashed her arm in front of her, and Dusanek shot forwards with that, the Psychic having him in too tight a grasp to break free. Throwing her arm down, he was smashed into the ground, and that was when she let the grip on him go. Disappearing for a moment, she soon reappeared at a safe distance from the Gengar, but was still reachable all the same.

It seemed that the match was even at this point.

"Dusanek, I want you to use Mean Look, so it will slow Abra down. Then, get close and use Shadow Ball,"

The idea of using Mean Look was to prevent Abra from escaping using the devious move called Teleport. However Mean Look had a slight disadvantage, it didn't prevent Abra from teleporting, it restricted its movements and was only able to teleport in short intervals. Shadow Ball was super effective against Psychic types and also will deal a lot more damage against a basic Pokemon.

Dusanek started to attack by pulling some weird faces at Abra. From a distance this would have looked strange, however there was meaning to the type of behaviour. Then almost of the blue, a projection of Dusanek's silly faces appeared. Dusanek ran ahead, with the projection guiding, towards Abra. Both Pokemon collided and Dusanek bounced back, hovering through the air. Abra twitched, indicating that Mean Look had worked.

Dusanek bounced back glared towards Abra before breaking a small smile. Then Dusanek started to rotate his hands around a fixed point of air, both in different direction. Then soon, a large murky black orb slowly appeared from thick air and was formed between the hands of Dusanek. Immediately, Dusanek forced the murky black orb towards Abra, whistling through the air. The orb collided with her back and sent her crashing into some erect rocks.

Abra quickly got back on her feet and retaliated by holding out her hand and then clenching her fist. Dusanek suddenly was lifted higher into the air and thin light blue aura surrounded him. Unfortunately this was bad news for Dusanek. He was very fragile to psychic attacks and facing against an Abra, who would one day evolve to become on the best Psychic Pokemon. (Apart from Chimecho they're the best) Dusanek tried to struggle out of the hold, however the strength of Abra's Psychic was far too great. Then after holding Dusanek in the air for sometime, Abra slammed down her clenched fist towards the ground. Dusanek was then slammed into the ground, he was defenceless. A huge dust cloud arose from the impact of Dusanek and slowly settled on the ground. Dusanek looked up at Abra, who had slowly returned to her original position, and made it back onto his feet. Both Pokemon stared at each other, it was a even match.

Alex was stumped for choices. He could try and use the same move again, hoping it would cause a lot more damage, or he could try and hack into Abra's mind. If he hacked into Abra's mind, there would be some serious affects and long term consequences. Alex was distraught, he couldn't decide. He examined the terrain once more, trying to find an alternate method into making this capture more quicker and easier.

"Gengar, I know I told you before we arrived we weren't going to try this, however if we want to capture Abra, I think this is the only option. I want you to use Hypnosis and Nightmare, place a horrid memory in Abra's mind, you can do this," Alex told Gengar. Gengar nodded and held out his palms towards Abra, preparing his attack. Alex hoped this would work, it requires a lot of energy from Gengar to enter into a Pokemon's mind, and maybe more trying to enter into a mind like Abra's.

Argent could see that the effect of Gengar's moves hadn't quite achieved what Alex had wanted, and he felt like he had disappointed the trainer as a result -- although Argent knew that what Gengar had done was clearly not his fault, but he felt, as a ranger, that he was partially responsible. The rational part of him told him that this was complete nonsense, but he hated to see anyone disappointed -- he knew how it felt to be in such a situation, but he supposed that the battle would just have to have been continued, despite whatever had happened. Plus, nothing much had happened at this stage anyway -- only the preliminary attacks had been delivered, and both were carefully analysing each other now that they had seen one another's attacks. Abra's head was moving up and down, and even though her eyes weren't open, she was clearly examining Dusanek through her own devices -- most likely scanning him somehow.

Looking back to Alex, Argent saw that he was dumbfounded -- he couldn't choose what to do. Argent guessed his situation immediately, with a little deduction from Chimey here and there. It was evident that Alex didn't, honestly speaking, know what to do at this point -- Argent felt a flutter in his stomach at that. The battle had barely even begun, but yet Alex was stuck already? This didn't make sense. However, Argent supposed that Alex was indeed in a difficult situation -- two of his most reliable moves had been used up already, and if Dusanek was ordered to use the same moves again, Argent supposed that the Abra would be ready, and notice the warning signs. In battle, all Pokémon were adaptable, even if trainers were not. They could detect what was about to be used if they'd already seen it before in that selfsame battle, and so they developed evasive moves as a consequence. Argent rather admired the adaptive intelligence of these creatures, who were even sometimes more observant than the humans that were supposed to command them.

"Gengar, I know I told you before we arrived we weren't going to try this, however, if we want to capture Abra, I think this is the only option. I want you to use Hypnosis and Nightmare, and place a horrid memory in Abra's mind. You can do this," Alex said. Argent had no idea what the danger was in this -- Alex had hinted danger in this proposal to Dusanek, and Argent wasn't sure about what actually it consisted of. He stepped forwards slightly, starting at the very grave expression that had crossed Alex's face. As a ranger, he technically wasn't allowed to let them do anything that would potentially put them in any real danger.

"Uh, you know, if this is anything really dangerous, I can't let you go ahead." However, it seemed that they were hell-bent on ignoring him at this stage. They had concentrated on the Abra, and the Gengar had his arms limply raised, as if he were about to perform something spectacular. Argent was helpless. Chimey's thoughts were filled with the same kind of graveness that had plagued Alex, leaving Argent to ponder really how serious this was. It seemed that, if he couldn't stop them, he'd just have to see what happened.

Chimey? he threw out the thought. Chimey swiftly picked up the bond, and their thoughts coursed actively through each others' heads.

What is it? she replied gently, seeing that Argent was concerned.

I can't let them be in any danger, but they're giving me no choice. Is there any way we can oversee what's going on? he asked, forcing the question to the forefront of his thoughts to emphasise the urgency.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Come with me. Chimey smiled, watching as the two they had been supervising slipped into a trance. She threw out a golden thread in the midst of everything, and Argent mentally grappled on the other side of it, and closed his eyes. He was transported somewhere else immediately, and he felt himself sifting through space that he knew wasn't really there. After a time, they descended near two beings -- but in another reality. Abra was there, clouded by a veil -- they couldn't get to it this way unless she was asleep. Gengar disappeared for a moment, and while his presence flickered on and off, the veil dissipated. He flickered back into the strange, deep purple void that surrounded them. This was... surreal.

As Gengar stepped forwards towards the shadow-Abra, he simply touched her head, and they all descended into the thoughts of Abra. As soon as Argent was in there... wow. It was a complete maze. For one so young, the Abra's mind was indeed very complex. Gengar seemed to be creating something now, swirling his hands about. He had put a digit to his lips as they had entered, however, signifying to them that they should touch nothing. The walls of the maze had pictures, plenty of them -- almost like cave paintings. They seemed to be like memories, etched into the very fibers of Abra's brain. As they got into a deeper layer, they had still not been detected by the sleeping mind. Not even the unconscious had followed them. Gengar placed something down on the ground, and it expanded slowly. Gengar turned, and vanished on the spot. The shadow-Alex also disappeared.

Time to leave, Chimey signalled. The strange surroundings melted into nothingness, and Argent found himself staring deeply into Chimey's eyes. Jolting himself away, the Abra was sleeping -- but it was pained, horrible sleep. Abra was slowly being damaged.

"Remember, Alex. Nightmare saps health pretty fast, so you should get a move on."

"Gengar, I know I told you before we arrived we weren't going to try this, however, if we want to capture Abra, I think this is the only option. I want you to use Hypnosis and Nightmare, and place a horrid memory in Abra's mind. You can do this,"

All of a sudden, Argent stepped forward and said, "Uh, you know, if this is anything really dangerous, I can't let you go ahead." Alex understood why he was cautious; it was part of a Rangers Job, to prevent any danger that may affect the trainer or the environment. Alex knew this because he once had a friend who was a Ranger, his name was Joe Thompson. Alex had been best friends with Joe since he moved next door to him when he was a young boy. He was tall, brown chestnut medium length hair and pale skin complexion. He ways carried around a small rucksack, with a map and a bottle of water attached to the side of it. Ever since that day, Alex kept looking out for Joe, and what he was doing. In some people’s minds, they would say Alex was stalking Joe; however others said it was a form of idolising. However there was one moment that Alex would remember for eternity.

Alex returned from School and noticed a group of men surrounding Joe’s house and confronting a man, who seemed to be Joe. Alex, confused with what he saw, slowly crept closer to the group to listen into their conversation.

“Sir, you are being transferred closer to the Park. You are always late and you go away for an unexpected amount of time. With you moving closer to the Park, we can keep an eye on you and make sure that doesn’t happen. You have 5 hours to pack your stuff.”

The group of men slowly dispersed and Joe slumped down onto the steps leading to the house. Alex slowly walked up to the motionless man and tapped him on the shoulder. “You aren’t leaving are you?” Alex asked Joe.

Joe looked up at the small boy and smiled, “Yes I am, but I enjoyed it here. I guess that’s the consequences of being part of the Park. Here I want you to have this,” Joe said and removed a picture from his rucksack. He handed it over to the boy and said, “Take good care of that, I took it when I was at the Abandoned Power Plant.” Alex squinted at the picture and asked, “What is it?”

“Ahh that is Rotom, the Plasma Pokemon. I caught it in the Power Plant last week, and just before I captured it, I took a personal picture, to remind myself the fun and enjoyment of being in the Park. Maybe when you are older, you can enter the park and enjoy it just as much as I do,” Joe replied and watched as the young boys face lightens up like the sun.

“Ohh, and you can take me?” Alex said and took the picture from Joe’s hand and clutched it closer to his chest.

“Maybe, we will see,” Joe replied and stood up and retired into his house.

Alex suddenly returned to reality and replied to Argent, “Don’t worry; the only danger will be for Abra. Gengar can sometimes go over the top and place a memory so horrible, that Abra may have recurring dreams.

Alex returned to the battle and watched as Gengar started to produce a thin multicolour beam from his hands. The beam suddenly created a small shield around Abra, and inside the eye’s of Abra slowly closed. It was no surprise; Abras were used to sleeping and slept for 18 hours so Gengar was just aiding it back to sleep. Gengar quickly moved on and levitated across towards Abra, preparing for the main act. When he was close enough, he placed his palm of Abra’s head and sudden vanished into mid-air.

Alex left Gengar alone, he didn’t want to follow Gengar inside, the last time he did that, he was sick. Seconds after Gengar vanished, Alex noticed that Argent and Chimecho disappeared as well. I guess they are just overseeing if anything goes wrong.

After waiting 5 minuets, Gengar suddenly appeared out of Abra and raised a thumb towards Alex, signalling the task was complete. Argent suddenly appeared next to Alex and said, "Remember, Alex. Nightmare saps health pretty fast, so you should get a move on."

“I understand, Ok Gengar, use Shadow Ball once more, however don’t put a lot of power into it, we don’t want Abra fainting on us after all that hard work,” Alex ordered to Gengar. As Gengar was preparing a small dusk orb in his hands, Alex opened his bag and removed two items; a Soothing Fragrance and a Park Ball. He opened the Fragrance and sprayed the ball. He heard from the shop keeper that it increases the chances of capturing your intended Pokemon. Now, with the sprayed Park Ball in his hand, Alex waited till Gengar had finished before making the vital capture.

"I understand. Okay, Gengar, use Shadow Ball once more; however, don’t put a lot of power into it -- we don’t want Abra fainting on us after all that hard work," Alex said to his Gengar, who nodded readily. Although he seemed a little on the eccentric side, he understood his trainer's plans for what they were worth and as a result he'd decided to go along with his plans for now. He could understand that if his trainer was right, then the battle would be over in any case, so he was sort of looking forward to that -- that Psychic attack that the Abra had launched on him was really very painful. Argent looked up at the sky -- it was as gloomy as it usually was, but there were some nasty storm clouds heading in their direction. Argent just hoped that those clouds wouldn't break on them -- rain and the bitter cold it brought wouldn't be the best thing that he'd have to go through today. He still had the rest of the run to get on with, and trudging through a downpour was the thing he'd least liked to have done that day.

The Gengar stepped forwards slightly, as the Abra was still asleep. Feeling like he had all the time in the world, the Gengar simply began to swirl his hands around, swivelling them over a small spot in front of his chest. Tendrils of energy spiralled from his shadowy digits, forming an orb that swelled as Gengar brought his hands further out from the point of origin. Soon, it was big enough to shoot, but the creature named Dusanek seemed reluctant to fire it off. He was spared from any sort of decision by the awakened state of Abra -- aroused from her sleep finally, she angrily looked towards Gengar. The area around her eyes looked wild, as if she had had an extremely troubled sleep, and Gengar realised what was coming. He pushed the Shadow Ball into his own chest, and it seemed to merge with his body -- it had completely melted into him, and Argent looked astonished at this use of Shadow Ball. What would it accomplish? Was it a store... or did it make him a little more powerful or bulky? The Abra raised her arms into the air, and shook slightly. Small, cyan orbs of energy began to form near her fingertips, and she made them dance around her body, orchestrating them in a show, almost like she was playing with Dusanek.

Her game turning deadly serious, she redirected the energy to Dusanek, and the orbs piled upon him at lightning speed, blasting him powerfully into the ground -- however, it seemed that injecting the Shadow Ball into himself had increased his general bulk, and had saved him from more severe damage. The Abra let out a small, amused sound, almost as if she was enjoying getting the revenge back on him. The Gengar was sweet enough, but all memories of niceties had dissolved when he had intruded upon her mind's space, casting a horrible, but realistic, memory into the depths of her dreams. When she woke up, all she could remember were echoing screams -- ones that had never existed at all. However, the damage that she had taken while asleep had taken their toll on her, and she seemed a little on the tired side. Gengar quickly flipped up from the ground, and was now hovering in the air, his eyes practically ablaze. He pumped his chest forwards, and the bulk left him in the orb that he had previously created, blasting powerfully into the Abra's body. The Abra struggled to stay awake after such a hit, having slid back a little bit, but she slipped back into her sleep -- not unconsciousness, just sleep. Perhaps some residual effect of the Hypnosis?

At this point, Alex had decided that it was time to throw the ball that he had been holding, supposedly. Lobbing it through the air towards Abra, it hit the sleeping Pokémon square on the head, and was batted into the air. It opened swiftly, enveloping the Abra in a bright light. Falling to the ground, it proceeded to roll for a few moments. Argent waited with bated breath. Finally, the tipping ball came to a stop, and Argent let out his breath explosively. He walked over casually, scooping up the ball. Then he swivelled on the spot, looking at Alex.

"Congratulations on your new Abra. Have a small rest, and then we'll continue on," Argent told them both in an encouraging tone.

Alex watched as Dusanek sent a powerful Shadow Ball right into the stomach of Abra, skidding back across the ground. Alex believed it was enough and intervened. He held the small Park Ball, sprayed with the Fragrance, and kissed it with his soft lips. He whispered into the ball, "I hope I catch this Pokemon," He believed it was a good luck chant, and most of the time when he said it, he caught the Pokemon. He threw the Park Ball through the dull sky and the ball hit the body of Abra. Abra was suddenly sucked into the ball and light blue sparks emitted from the ball. The sparks were produced because of the reaction with the Pokemon and the Fragrance. The ball rolled around on the dirt battle field and then suddenly, the ball froze and a small click echoed through the air.

"Congratulations on your new Abra. Have a small rest, and then we'll continue on," Argent told them both in an encouraging tone.

Alex gave a sigh of relief and sat down on the ground, removing a small bottle of water and pouring it over his face. While he may not be involved in the battle, it was still tiring to watch. Alex called Dusanek over and said to the Ghost Pokemon, "You did well, I am proud of you." Dusanek smiled and walked over to Alex's bag and removed the cassette player and pressed play. The synthetic sound of Abra echoed out again. It seemed that Gengar wanted to encounter more Abra's while he was here.

Argent sighed quietly as Alex sank to the ground, evidently to rest -- it looked like he was already tired, and that was only the first battle of the entire run. Argent wondered if this person was either really unfit or just a bit on the lazy side. He took a few swigs from a bottle of water, and spoke to his Gengar momentarily. Dusanek pushed the play button on Alex's PokéPlayer, and the cry of Abra rang out through the stony area a second time. Argent looked at the thing curiously -- it seemed like he wanted to encounter more Abra while he was on the run, and Argent didn't blame him. Abra were a pretty rare thing to come across these days, and Argent personally wanted one. He supposed he could make a deal with Alex if he managed to come across another one, but Argent didn't really fancy the chances of that right now. There were probably other, more interesting things out there than another Abra.

Once Alex had finished resting, Argent decided to lead him on. The storm clouds loomed grey as ever overhead, but Argent was hoping that they wouldn't pour out on them any time soon. In any case, swirls of fog blew on the uppermost peaks of the two rock "walls" that sprouted from the ground on either side of them, but still allowed there to be a path. Argent led Alex through confidently, making sure to be careful so he wouldn't pick up any grazes or scratches. He passed through pretty easily, and came out on the other side of this more compact valley area, and then the rock walls opened out widely, and the fog blocked Argent's vision from seeing just how far away they stretched to. Argent trudged on anyway, keeping his eyes eagerly peeled for any more Pokémon that might be coming their way. As the two moved onwards, strange, choral voices echoed from the fog, and Argent froze.

The voices kept singing, but Argent stayed there -- he was sure that he recognised this from something before. The memory was associated with some kind of Ghost-type, but Argent couldn't remember what exactly the Pokémon was. However, he was spared any kind of hard guesses to try and identify what it was by the actual creature sliding from the mist, and coming into full view. Argent looked it up and down -- it was a Misdreavus. A small, puppet-like kind of creature, it simply levitated in the air, looking curiously at the two humans, the Chimecho and the Gengar that had congregated near its habitat. It had seen this kind before, but they were never interested in it. They had just tried to go away, but it had sometimes battled their trained Pokémon. It always lost to them, and it was getting to feel abandoned by this stage. It wished that it could just get a trainer like the Pokémon she had seen passing through before. Argent surveyed it sympathetically, almost being able to tell its feelings from its fiery, yet miserable-seeming, eyes.

"Well, Alex," Argent asked expansively, "d'you want a Misdreavus?"

After being prompted by Argent, Alex got up and followed Argent as he lead the way. The dark clouds above started to thicken and darken. Alex hoped it wouldn't rain while he was outside. Alex hated the rain, how it seeped into your shoes and made everything wet. He sometimes questioned what someone would create Rain, and that they should have been more practical about it. Argent halted in front of Alex and stared a small tight entrance, with two towering cliffs either side. Argent lead the way and easily made his way to the other side. Alex had a different approach, dashing through the gap. However it didn't end up how Alex was imagining, Alex was half way through and he was wedged half way through the path. Alex hoped Argent didn't see him, and quickly fell to the floor. Alex stood up and brushed off the dust and caught up with Argent.

Alex reached Argent and witnessed a huge blanket of fog quickly settle in front of them. Then out of the blue a sound of a choral voice filled the silent sky. A small ghost Pokemon suddenly appeared in front of Alex's eyes. Alex quickly took a step back and focused in on the Ghost Pokemon.

"Well, Alex," Argent asked expansively, "d'you want a Misdreavus?"

"No thank you," Alex said to Argent.

"No thank you," Alex replied simply, and Argent nodded politely. These creatures were rather common anyway, so he was sure that if Alex didn't already have one, he'd be able to catch one outside of the National Park without much of a problem. In any case, Argent simply dodged away from the Misdreavus, and walked onwards. The fog quickly dispersed -- it must have been the Misdreavus' doing. It obviously didn't want yet another person to escape from it, but it had no choice right now. Argent felt a pang of compassion for leaving it behind -- it seemed to rule that desolate opening by itself, and Argent thought that must have been an extremely lonely way of living. Chimey was nonchalant about this kind of thing -- she was once wild herself, after all. She understood how it was. While the Misdreavus may have longed for a trainer, it wasn't going to force itself upon one -- it knew that, once the right person came, it would have a trainer. When that was, no Pokémon knew -- but they usually enjoyed the experience once they started belonging to a trainer. She smiled inwardly. Everything would be okay for the poor creature.

Argent walked onwards, having a full view of everything -- including those looming storm clouds. They looked particularly nasty. Argent's eyes kept automatically drifting off the path and into the sky, as the storm clouds were simply so intimidating. Whatever kind of storm would be kicking up certainly wouldn't be pleasant. Argent was still desperately hoping that the damned things wouldn't unleash themselves over their heads. Argent, however, could detect that this was obviously inevitable. He kept to the sheltered areas of the Valley, walking blithely around the outskirts, keeping an eye on the clouds the whole time -- he could see, that there were several caves that were etched into the sides of the rocky parts, which could easily serve as better shelters than simply walking around the outskirts. However, he was aware that Pokémon could potentially live in those caves, but sharing a cave with a wild Pokémon would probably be a lot more preferable than standing out in miserable conditions. It depended on if those clouds did open up -- and Argent was quite certain that they would. Still picking his way along the path, he was determining which cave would be best to enter.

Of course, the one he had settled on obviously had an inhabitant... one that leapt out and almost scared the jeebus out of Argent. A flash of violet rushed by, but then came into clearer focus as the creature stopped in its tracks, merely padding over. It regarded Argent coolly, and Chimey was looking at the being with some interest. An amethyst-coloured coat, and strange pink whiskers protruding from the sides of its face, as well as dark eyes and a gem on its forehead, this could only be one Pokémon -- Espeon. An evolution of Eevee (or Eeveelution, to those people who referred to the creatures as such), it was rumoured to have decent Psychic powers, and access to some powerful moves, as did a lot of Eevee's evolutions. It wasn't one of Argent's personal favourites, but he had to admit that the creatures did look quite cool -- and the ability that rarely appeared in them was really neat. Magic Bounce was an ability that reflected almost any non-damaging move, and instead the move would afflict its user instead. Argent turned to Alex.

"Would you like an Espeon?" he asked simply.

Argent acknowledged Alex’s decision and guided him away from the Misdreavus. He felt sorry for that Misdreavus. The small ghost Pokemon turned its back and faded off into the distance. The fog suddenly lifted, almost like it was part of Misdreavus’ doing. Alex stopped and watched as Misdreavus disappeared from sight and walked ahead to Argent. Alex caught up with Argent, breathing heavily, and suddenly halted. Argent held out his right hand, in the shape of the sign stop. Ahead of them were a series of cave networks, each leading to different areas of the Valley. Alex watched Argent ponder and then immediately headed off towards one of the caves. Alex had no input; he simply obeyed and followed his Ranger.

As they entered the cave, a flash of violet zipped past. Alex looked around bewildered. “What was that?” Alex asked Argent. Argent didn’t reply. Alex looked ahead as the violet colour appeared again, however this time was slowly walking towards them. Its long dark violet ears drooped from a small mouse like head, with a small shining orb implanted on the forehead. Its tail swerved from side to side, enticing the Trainers ahead of them. Alex had a good idea what that Pokemon was, it was Espeon, the evolution of Eevee. Espeon looked up and trainers and elegantly sat on the ground.

"Would you like an Espeon?" he asked simply.

Alex turned back to the Espeon and wondered. Do I really want an Espeon. I mean they have a great move set and an awesome ability, Magic Bounce. However it would be easier to catch an Eevee instead,

Ale turned to Argent and confidently said, “I would like to pass,”

Alex thought to himself for a few moments, but then he turned to Argent, and it seemed he was confident about his choice this time.

"I would like to pass," he said. Argent nodded in agreement, and then turned back towards the Espeon, who was eyeing the humans warily. Argent said something inaudibly to the Espeon, and it nodded. It turned away from the two of them and sprang off into the distance, leaving Argent to ponder about it. He actually thought that the creatures were quite clever, and he was surprised that a wild one would have actually listened to what he had to say -- but it had, and had ran away. That left them free to walk onwards once more, and so Argent led Alex away down the outskirts of the Valley once more, under the craggy, more sheltered parts. Chimey was constantly searching through the caves ahead with her mind, trying to detect unfriendly presences, or even presences at all. Nothing had sprung up so far, and so they walked onwards like that for quite some time, just silently. The process, at least for Chimey, wasn't very tiring, but it did become tedious after a while of not coming across anything. He hoped that the next encounter would be something that Alex would want to battle -- it always came down to that, eventually. Would he battle this, or wouldn't he? That was always the question. Argent thought that it was probably a very bad way to go about runs, but the truth was that nothing very interesting happened apart from the battles.

There's something up ahead, Chimey said. Argent grunted and then gritted his teeth, finding his way more swiftly along the path now that there was something confirmed to be ahead of them. However, coming down the path, all they found was a distressed Espeon -- the same one that had just ran away a couple of minutes prior. It looked at Chimey, and she nodded. They exchanged thoughts -- Argent could sense that much through their link. However, they were almost inaudible to him, and he only caught the faintest of whispers within their conversation. After all, he wasn't purposefully trying to listen in. Once they were finished, Chimey turned to Argent rather gravely, and he sighed. Would this be bad news, or what?

Espeon here is having a little bit of a problem. Across the way a little bit, a Clefable and Metang are fighting with each other for some reason -- they're really, really angry. The Espeon's afraid that they're going to damage the Valley, and get more hurt than they actually intend to. Look's like we've got a side-mission on our hands. You're going to have to divert a disaster and lead Alex through the Park at the same time. I doubt there are any other rangers around at the moment, so yeah. Are you ready? Chimey was simply floating in the air expectantly, and Argent shrugged.

Okay, he replied, and he beckoned to Alex, leading him further away. The Espeon began to pad at their side, obviously thinking that it was a part of the group now. Eventually, something else appeared -- a Kirlia, also sharing the same worried expression that Espeon was carrying around with it. The Kirlia simply looked at the group, and got into a fighting pose almost immediately. Its eyes were wild, as if it had already been fighting. That was probably likely, considering the conflict that had just been brought to Argent's attention.

"Alex, how about a Kirlia?" Argent suggested lightly.

Alex watched as Espeon quickly sprang away, after Argent said something to it. There were a lot of debate and research behind Pokemon understanding humans with many hypotheses. Overall there were two main ideas; Pokemon were able to understand the human language or whether they understood our facial expressions and from there processed what they would be aiming at in their own language. Some scientists believe smart Pokemon, for example Alakazam, Slowking and Stunfisk all understand the human language; however recent discoveries show that Pokemon like Lucario and Machamp also understand the human language, but are not as clever as the examples above. However some Pokemon Experts deny this hypothesis and believe that all Pokemon understand the change in expressions and movement and then translating those emotions to Pokemon Language terms. However a lot of it was too complicated for Alex to ever be involved in, and simply stood to the side and nodded as his friends argued over who was right.

Alex followed Argent on, trailing down small tunnels and cliff sides. The atmosphere was silent and the sound of small rocks tumbling down the side occasionally filled the silence. Alex was starting to doubt whether no Pokemon would turn up and that they were all hiding from him, because he would just run away from them. It must also be straining on the ranger, as it is his job to find Pokemon for the trainer to battle. Alex watched as Argent looked ahead and then to the side looking for any Pokemon. However there was no luck.

After walking around for 5 minutes, Argent looked up and halted Alex. Alex caught sight of a small pink tail hid itself behind a small boulder. Was it a Pokemon? Argent took a few steeps forward, with Alex watching eagerly. A small pink Pokemon appeared from the boulder and stared at Argent and Alex. Much to Alex’s disappointment, the small pink Pokemon was Espeon from before. It looked directly into Chimey’s eyes and started nod. Alex assumed that both of these Psychic powerhouses were having a conversation. Alex wanted to know what they were talking about, however he stayed out and simply stood idly until something happened.

After several minutes of waiting, Alex noticed Chimey hover closer to Argent and started to stare into the eyes, transferring ideas and words telepathically. Argent nodded and watched as Espeon started to tag along. It was strange, a wild Pokemon tagging along with a Ranger. Either the world has gone crazy or something strange is up. The group, with Espeon following, trailed down a small path, adjacent the cave they were previously in. It came to Alex’s attention the number of caves and small passages throughout the Valley. He started to wonder if an adventurer had ever discovered every single cave. There were rumours that there were dark evil Pokemon lurking around in caves that have not even been found, they sit there and wait. The idea of caves not found by other adventurers appealed to Alex and that was properly the main reason he visited the Meteor Valley, that and his love for ghost Pokemon.

They were abruptly stopped by a small Pokemon standing in front of them. The Pokemon had a white body and seemed to wear what looked like a tutu. It had dark grass green hair, which was swept to side to reveal one dark red eye, with the other one covered up by the hair. It stood on one leg, with the other one placed on the knee of the standing leg. Its red eye looked directly at Alex, and started to spin around on the spot, enticing Alex to battle it.

"Alex, how about a Kirlia?" Argent suggested lightly.

Alex stopped for a second and quickly replied, “Sure.”

He removed a small red and white ball and threw it into the air. From the white flash appeared Dusanek. Dusanek stretched his arms and positioned himself ready to battle. Alex was weary of the immense Psychic power of Kirlia. It was going to be a lot harder than the battle with Abra. Alex whipped out a small red device, the size of a kindle, and scanned the Kirlia in front of him.

Kirlia, the Emotion Pokémon. Kirlia uses the horns on its head to amplify its Psychic powers, and when this occurs reality becomes warped, and future events can be seen.

Ahh, so it can see into the future, it can probably predict Dusanek every move, I need to find a way to make sure that doesn’t happen

“Dusanek, use Confuse Ray and then use Dark Pulse,” Alex commanded to Dusanek. Dusanek agreed without any hesitation and started to prepare himself for the battle in store.

"Dusanek, use Confuse Ray, and then use Dark Pulse," Alex commanded. Rather confidently, Argent had to admit. The Gengar stepped dangerously in front of Alex, looking towards the Psychic-type Pokémon that was his opponent for this match. Of course, this would be just as easy as the Abra match was -- providing Alex played it right, or Kirlia didn't have anything up its sleeves. So, to start things off smoothly, Dusanek raised his hands up above his head, letting them limp at the wrists. Dusanek's eyes darkened a little, and tendrils of energy spiralled from either hand, coming together in front of his chest to form an orb. The orb was shot forward without warning, and it whirled through the air, coming to meet Kirlia's forehead without much of a problem -- the creature was a bit shocked at the rather forward behaviour of the Gengar, and allowed itself to be hit. However, as a powerful Psychic creature, Kirlia knew how to fight the confusion that was threatening to overwhelm its startled mind. It calmed itself down, regaining its composure. The confusion didn't seem to affect it that much. However, it had done something, all right -- the Kirlia looked like it was struggling with something. Its horns glowed momentarily, but the light died out pretty quickly. Dusanek had somehow disabled its power amplification source, and so it wouldn't be able to see into the future as a result of the horns not working.

That was not to say it couldn't attack, however. The Kirlia quickly weaved her hands in an intricate pattern in the air, calling on some sort of energy to come to her aid. Faint purple, plasma-like spirals twirled up her arms, forming an orb in front of her, woven completely from shadow energy. Once it charged it up, it winked at Dusanek disarmingly. Then, a dim flash of light, and the Kirlia disappeared. However, a split-second later, it appeared behind Dusanek, and rammed the Shadow Ball attack into his back, launching him forwards. The ghostly Pokémon was forced away to another side, and the Emotion Pokémon couldn't help but smirk a little. Luckily, the Confuse Ray had only affected the use of her horns -- it
could still rely on other attacks, and even Psychic-type attacks, only they'd be a lot weaker.

Dusanek was not finished, though. Stopping in mid-air, he spun, making an elegant recovery and touching down on the floor softly. With a wide grin, Dusanek doubled over, his body growing darker in colour, gradually turning almost jet-black. Only the faintest hint of his normal colour was there. Argent braced himself -- the Kirlia was over their side now, so the Dark Pulse wouldn't stop at hitting them. Chimey also instinctively knew this. Dusanek stretched himself outwards all of a sudden, forcing his hands out in a sweeping arc. Evil power was blasted outwards in an arc, and Chimey wildly flung herself in front of the two trainers, throwing up a Light Screen before anyone but the Kirlia was hurt. The Dark Pulse was near-inescapable, and the Kirlia braced herself too. It couldn't teleport from there, not then. It had been charging up her own attack, crackling electricity building all over her body. The Dark-typed energy was almost too fast. It managed to get the electricity out in a concentrated beam, and Dusanek was too busy on congratulating himself a bit too early to notice. The Dark Pulse made contact with the Kirlia, and it fell to one knee. It then dissipated as it hit Chimey's shield. Dusanek came in full range of the Charge Beam, and was hit. Kirlia was still crackling a bit with reserve electricity, which was absorbed into its skin. It was playing this battle smart for sure. However, Argent was aware that Alex still had more to give. The Charge Beam had little effect on the Ghost-type, strangely. It passed down him, shocking him slightly, but dissipated into the floor.

Dusanek stepped forward, confidently. After the last battle, Dusanek was gearing to carry on his form and will not stop at anything to win the battle. However deep inside, Alex started to question the true strength of Kirlia, and if would be more powerful than the Abra. On Alex’s command, Dusanek started to close his dark red eyes and focus energy into his hands. His hands started to circle around in a clockwise motion, almost like it was forming a clay plot. Soon, Dusanek opened his eyes and all of a sudden, a multicoloured beam spiralled out his hands and formed a ball between his hands. Alex watched eagerly as Gengar started to form the ball, by smoothing the edges. As soon as Dusanek was ready, he fired the orb towards Kirlia, spiralling through the cool breezy air, colliding into the forehead. For a second the move looked ineffective, however soon Kirlia started to stagger from side to side, like a drunken teenager.

Dusanek quickly celebrated and clenched his fist and rammed it through the air. For Dusanek this was a victory however his celebrations were cut short. Kirlia stood on one foot and started to clear her mind from the impure invaders. The horns on the top of Kirlia’s head started to glow. Alex knew something bad would happen if Kirlia was able to use his horns to amplify his psychic power, however to his relief, the horns slowly dimmed. It looked like Dusanek Confuse Ray disabled the horns, which was good news for Dusanek and Alex. However Kirlia ignored the problem with his horns and started to spin around on its toe, like a ballerina. Just above Kirlia’s head, a dark energy started to circulate around Kirlia, eventually forming together as an orb. Alex suddenly had a small worry, digging in the back of his mind. That orb looks very similar to one Dusanek used earlier.

Then Dusanek started to rotate his hands around a fixed point of air, both in different direction. Then soon, a large murky black orb slowly appeared from thick air and was formed between the hands of Dusanek. Immediately, Dusanek forced the murky black orb towards Abra, whistling through the air.

Kirlia cried out loud and fired the orb towards Dusanek. Alex had an urge to leap in front of Dusanek and take the attack; however it would probably kill him. Pokemon are a very strong species and if there was ever a war between Pokemon and Human, Pokemon would win hands down. They have the ability to produce thunderstorm and have the ability to breathe fire. We would have no chance against them. Returning back to the battle, Alex watched as the Shadow Ball collided into Dusanek, sending the Ghost Pokemon crashing into the rocky wall behind him. Dusanek quickly got up and hovered back into position.

Alex shouted out loud, “Dusanek, use Dark Pulse,”

Dusanek grinned and started to tighten his body by forming an orb. Then Gengar started to generate a lot of dark evil energy, consuming his whole body. Dusanek looked like a different Pokemon and started to groan out loud. Alex started to wonder if the energy was getting too much for Gengar. However a more pressing matter was at hand. During the conflict between Kirlia and Gengar, both Pokemon seemed to have swapped ends. Kirlia was standing right in front of us. That was bad news for Argent and Alex. Dusanek suddenly opened his body up and his hands swept away in an arc. The energy stored was suddenly released and fired upon Kirlia. As the dark energy was travelling towards Kirlia, Kirlia had other ideas and started to glow in a bright yellow colour. Taking no chances, Argent ordered Chimey to create a Light Screen in front of them, protecting them from the oncoming Dark Pulse. The dark pulse surged past Kirlia, sending the small Psychic Pokemon onto one knee. She continued to glow and then suddenly released all of her energy. The energy released was formed in a beam, and smashed into the helpless Gengar. As soon as the beam hit, Gengar was surrounded by a field of electricity. He cried out loud and then landed on the floor. Immediately, the electricity entered through the ground and dissolved.

Alex looked across at Dusanek and wanted to go and help, however refrained. Dusanek was a strong Pokemon and it took a lot to stop him. Eventually Gengar got back up and hovered back to its original position. Alex looked at both Pokemon, evaluating their breathing rates. Dusanek was breathing a lot more compared to Kirlia. Alex quickly said to Dusanek, “Dusanek, use Hypnosis followed by Shadow Ball,”

Kirlia gender? ._. I'm assuming female, as that's what you're referring to her as in the post. Let me know if you've decided otherwise.

"Dusanek, use Hypnosis, followed by Shadow Ball," Alex commanded. Argent sighed a little bit -- he was sure that this battle was about to become as repetitive as the last one that Alex had engaged in. Looking over his files, he couldn't exactly blame Alex -- it wasn't like his Gengar knew very many moves, but nonetheless, it was quite a bore to watch the same moves being performed over and over again, in truth. Argent wondered why Alex had entered the Park, anyway -- he hadn't taken very many useful items with him, and his Gengar knew no extra moves, which didn't entirely inspire confidence. If a wide choice of moves weren't available, then it would be next to impossible to surprise the opponent. Argent would probably have liked it if there was more to come, but he supposed he'd just have to stick it out anyway. If Alex was happy enough to come in the Park in his party's current state, then Argent shouldn't have been thinking any less. However, this run was becoming monotonous enough because of the repetitive battling style. Anyway, Argent simply watched Dusanek as he took a few steps forwards once more, obviously to carry out this new set of moves on the Kirlia, who would probably not give up to sleep without a fight.

Dusanek's dark eyes began to glow with a multi-coloured aura, many shades of many colours infused into one single outline. Raising one arm, he pointed a stubby finger at the Kirlia, who looked dumbfounded -- she obviously didn't recognise the move. That was not to say, though, that she wouldn't attempt evasive manoeuvres. As Dusanek locked eyes with Kirlia, the swirling glow to his irises began to win her over, but she closed her eyes all of a sudden, moving backwards. Shocked slightly by the suddenness of this, Dusanek ended the move there, but Argent could see he wouldn't have given up. Kirlia flung her arms outwards in an arc, and a harsh wind blew up out of nowhere behind her. As she swept her arms, the wind came in from all sides of her, turning into a blade of wind that shot at Dusanek without warning. Ice particles hung in as it whooshed at the Gengar, and hit him full on. The bitter cold of the Icy Wind began to freeze him up, and his joints became stiff. He tried moving, but it was a little more difficult, and he couldn't move as fluidly as Argent had seen him before. Kirlia seemed to have realised what Alex was attempting, and was trying to shut that plan off as much as she could.

Her arms still pointed, she seemed poised like a ballerina. Not for long, however, as she twirled on the spot -- and as she came back to her original position, she clapped her hands together. They had began glowing purple as she begun her turn, and once she clapped them together, a concentrated beam of that same-shaded energy headed Dusanek's way, and he didn't dodge. The attack clouded his mind, and he seemed infuriated at this point -- Argent realised that this was some kind of usage of Taunt. It hadn't damaged the Gengar at all, but rather just made him seriously angry... angry enough to not use some kind of non-damaging move such as Hypnosis. The Kirlia seemed to be playing defensively at the moment, making sure it wasn't lured into any status traps -- she was still strong enough to avoid that. His eyes blazing, Dusanek stiffly made a few steps backwards, the full heat of his glare on the Kirlia. She didn't shy away from that intimidating gaze, but rather met it coolly, as if she had nothing to fear from the shadow-like Pokémon that stood before her. She flashed a brilliant smile at Dusanek, who was only enraged as a result. She was really basking in the glory of enraging the rather perverted Gengar. She performed another twirl to demonstrate this, and Argent couldn't help but smirk a little. Chimey's opinions seemed a little mixed, but she kept them to herself anyway.

It was now time for Gengar to attack -- Shadow Ball. Waving his arms over and under one particular spot, his arms seemed to become a blur, an orb forming in the spot that he was gesticulating around. The Shadow Ball was charging up, but at the speed his arms were moving, even with the decreased mobility, the Kirlia had no idea what he was really up to. It seemed that she would wait until his attack was launched before trying to defend herself once more. However, Dusanek didn't give her that chance. He simply thrust his arms forwards irritably, and the orb that he had wound up, crackling with phantom energy, shot from his grasp towards the Emotion Pokémon. She took the full force of the powerful attack, the move having been powered up in Dusanek's anger. Argent could see that this was a fairly even match, even if Dusanek was already damaged before coming into it -- it didn't look like he'd be taking any more damage, however, unless Kirlia stepped up her game and stopped trying to disable Dusanek from dealing out status. He stepped back a few steps more -- even after one attack, unleashing his full power had calmed him down a little. Probably one more attacking move, and his Taunt would wear off -- that would be the fastest Argent had ever seen a Pokémon recover from Taunt.

    OOC: Sorry, Male.

"Dusanek, use Hypnosis, followed by Shadow Ball," Alex commanded.

Dusanek nodded and started to shift his hands in a circular shape. Alex glanced across to his trainer and watched as Argent started to yawn. Alex knew that this was a dull move, and that he has already used it before, when battling Abra; however he didn’t have much a wide variety of moves to use. Alex had just recently received Dusanek as a Gastly a week ago. Many hours and precious time has been spent preparing Dusanek for the Park, however there is still a lot more that Dusanek can learn. Alex felt bad for Argent, having to take a new person through the park. They come unprepared and also bring Pokemon with a standard moveset. Luckily enough for Alex, Dusanek was super effective against most Pokemon in the Meteor Valley, and the standard move like Shadow Ball and Dark Pulse, would have done the job. As easily as it sounds, Alex forgot a vital detail when venturing through the park; the fact that Pokemon have adapted and found ways of counteracting Pokemon, who are super effective against them. Alex needed a new game plan, and fast.

Dusanek opened the palm of his hands, and watched as a dark lumpy liquid suddenly appeared on the surface. Dusanek breathed in hard, the liquid started to dissolve into the palm. Alex watched cautiously, afraid that if Dusanek took in the wrong amount of energy, his move could be very dangerous. Dusanek closed his eyes and the suddenly the thick purple lumpy liquid, which was seen before, created a small barrier in front of his eyelids. Dusanek suddenly opened his eyes. A jet of stored up energy blasted through the shield, collecting more energy. The free flowing energy swirled in a double helix shape towards the awaiting Kirlia. Kirlia smirked and simply closed his eyes. The swirling energy bounced of the green eye lids of Kirlia and dissipated in mid air.

Then Kirlia swept his hands back so that they were behind him. Gracefully, he launched his hands forward in a curving arc shape. The tailwind produced blasted off towards the surprised Dusanek. The tailwind had small ice-like particles whirling around inside. The wind smashed against Dusanek, cause some problems for the Ghost Pokemon. Dusanek tried taking a few steps forward, however did so at a slower pace. Alex started to wonder if the wind had something to do with it. Then, after examining Dusanek’s body for any evidence, Alex noticed some of the small ice particles planted into the joints of Dusanek. The ice particles restricted movement of Dusanek, meaning that Dusanek would be a lot slower from now on.

Alex watched as Kirlia started to spin around on the spot, still maintaining that ballerina position. As he stopped spinning, he clapped his hands. After he clapped his hands, a light black aura surrounded them. Then immediately Kirlia clapped them again. The light black aura projected outwards and formed into a thick light black cloud. The cloud plodded its way towards Dusanek. Alex was surprised; he had never seen this version of the move Taunt. Normally the Pokemon would simply taunt its opponent by a cheeky gesture. However seeing Taunt being used like this was impressive and also sneaky. It allowed Kirlia to maintain its distance from Dusanek, and keep away from any close combat.

The light dark cloud reached Dusanek and suddenly disappeared. Dusanek’s mood suddenly changed. His eyes widened and his started to loose control. Unfortunately for Alex, it was one of the effects of Taunt. The opponent would be in rage and only use moves that would inflict damage; either physical or special. Dusanek started to swirl his hands around in another circle; however this time the energy started to form a ball. The ball gradually grew until it was the size of a watermelon. Dusanek glanced up; making sure his target was still in sight. He slowed his action in his arms, hoping it cause some confusion for Kirlia. After assessing the target, Dusanek fired the orb directly towards Kirlia. The orb blasted through the air and collided with Kirlia. The Psychic Pokemon crashed into the ground, a small dust cloud appeared from the crash. The dust settled and Kirlia stepped out of the crash site. Both Pokemon looked into each other eyes.

[FONT=&quot]“Alright Dusanek, let’s finish this battle, use Night Shade!” Alex shouted to Dusanek
