I was just about to finish the last bits of my paperwork when my computer beeped. My hand paused, muscles relaxing as I placed the pen down slowly so as not to cause it to roll. I lifted my gaze, glancing at the pop-up notification.

My eyes widened a bit in surprise, but I shook my head - this was common nowadays. I shouldn't be in shock or awe every single time I see a trainer wanting to go to Mount Deckbi, one after the other. It was, in a way, natural nowadays to go through that volcano's zone. There were, after all, a number of great Pokemon there.

I clicked the X on the upper-right hand-side of the window. I wasn't going to Deckbi again just yet. I had already been there thrice, and though not consecutively, it was still getting a wince bit boring.

I looked away form the screen, focusing my attention back to what I had written. I picked up my writing tool again, subconsciously sticking my tongue ever-so-slightly out in concentration. My latest run had been at that same zone as well, and my mind began to draft away from my work - thinking about that trainer who wanted to go through today. If I were to take that run, I'd be building a streak already.

Suddenly, James, Leo, and Jack - three of my fellow rangers - burst through my small personal office's door. I looked up at them with a puzzled and curious expression plastered on my face.

"Go to Mount Deckbi," they said - or rather, commanded - in unison.

    Speak of the devil...

"What? Why me?! I've still got paperwork to do. And I just went there." I pushed the offer away immediately, sighing audibly. "One of you do it!"

Here we go again, just like what had happened during my previous run. Except last time, it was only James Carter, and he got me all on his own. Now there were three of them, what more could I possibly take?

"But it's freaking Deckbi!" Chainy, also known as James, retorted. I shook my head firmly, telling him he had already tried using that excuse on me the last time.

"Sorry, but I have a trainer waiting at Mount Oktori," Jack said, walking away soon afterwards.

"I have a trainer, too! Over at the Botanic Gardens." Chainy had spoken yet again, and I noticed he had a file with him.

I sighed heavily once more, nodding him off. I had been too busy filing my previous runs that I had not been able to claim the Gardens run. I hadn't visited that place in a while now, and I did need a change of scenery. I was sure an expedition through there would be just what I needed.

"And what about you, Leo?" I turned my attention to the other man. "Got a trainer as well?" I gestured over to the brown folder in his hands.

He shook his head quickly, and I thought I just might be able to get away with this. His answer, though, was far from what I had been expecting - though it was typical of them to do so. "Nope. I'm just here to give the trainer's information to you."

"Now, go, Elisa!" he ordered, shoving the file into my not-waiting arms.

I stopped myself from swearing out loud. I clearly wasn't the type of person who cursed. But when I did get furious, I expressed it in other ways. However, now was not the time to do so - I had a trainer to guide through Mount Deckbi, after all. Instead, I muttered, "Screw all three of you."

    ***

My hands were dug deep into the pocket of my jeans as I waited for my trainer to arrive. I wasn't even sure whether I was feeling patient or impatient. Usually, I could wait for prolonged amounts of time... However, on this certain occasion, I seemed to want it to get done and over with. Once I'd get back to the Docks' Ranger Outpost, I'd have another journey to file.

I walked around aimlessly, seemingly going in circles - no, oblongs; no, oblate spheroids - around the area near Deckbi's gate. My brown shoulder bag, filled with Pokedolls and healing items, bumped against my hip, waist, and thigh continuously as I wandered about.

Hopefully, in a few moments, the trainer - Jake Fennet - would arrive. I would open the gate, and we would begin the run with walking on the gravel path towards the mountain, as I liked to call it.

OOC: The Rock-type Repellent has been taken into account, but we generally encourage people to RP it out in their first post. You may or may not do this, completely up to you. And it does boost your character count. ;)

OOC: Hey MM. Sorry to tell you this but you spelled my characters name wrong. It's Jake Fennet. Not Sennet. Sorry, I found it pretty funny actually.

As Jake started walking back to were he previously started his last National Park run, Jake looked and as he walked closer he could see a ranger. This time it wasn't Leo the ranger that had taken him through Mt Deckbi on his last trip. Jake walked closer and closer knowing he had but only 2 objectives for this run through Mt Deckbi. 1. To catch a Sandile. 2. To catch a Darumaka. He couldn't get the thoughts out of his head.

As I arrived at the Mt Deckbi gate I threw my hand out at the ranger as to shank her hand and get to know her. She seemed to have been the one that got my application as she already knew my name. It was a pretty easy name to remember.

The girl ranger opened up the gates and they walked through and Jake instantly remember his last trip to Mt Deckbi, he remembered the Roggernola battle. And the certainly not forgotten Growlithe battle. He had luckily caught both but he found Growlithe was alot harder to capture.

As we started walking Jake looked at the ranger as he rumagged his hand through his backpack. He pulled out a Type Reppelent. A Rock Type Reppelent to be exact. Jake then said to his ranger,

"Hey ranger, I forgot to ask. What's your name? And can I use this right away?"

Jake started to spray the little bottle, the odor of the reppelent would certainly take away the possibility of Jake finding a Rock type. Jake then went through his bag again looking to find something else. He pulled out a little recorder, it wasn't just any recorder it was a Pokeplayer. He then reached in to his bag and grabbed whatever disk came into his hand first. He pulled it out and the disc was clearly marked Sandile. He didn't have a problem with that as he opened up the Pokeplayer placing the Sandile disk inside. He then pressed the play button and the cry of a Sandile came out. Jake was hoping to lure a Sandile into battle. It was his first objective that he hoped to achieve and now all he had to do was wait until one showed up. If it did.

In a few moments' time, I saw a figure in the distance. Only when he had come a bit closer was when I opened the gate to Mount Deckbi.

The trainer put out his hand for me to shake, which I did as we began walking towards the volcano. As our shoes bumped against the hard gravel path, Jake rummaged through his bag. He retrieved a bottle of sorts, but I was sure it was not a potion or antidote. Who in the right mind would use one like that right away, anyway?

"Hey, ranger, I forgot to ask. What's your name? And can I use this right away?"

Upon a slightly closer inspection, I read the word "Repellent." Now, as to what repellent it was, I was rather certain it was a Type Repellent - based on its color. As for what kinds of Pokemon it would repel, I had yet to find out. I had a hunch it was Rock, though, to push away those nasty Geodude.

"Yes. Yes, of course, you can." I nodded, holding my breath as he began to spray the repelling smell. I sighed, these repellents were definitely helpful, but it apparently didn't mean that they had pleasant scents.

His hands went into his bag again, which caused me to get a bit confused. You couldn't spray two different bottles of repellents during a single expedition - unless it was the special kind, the Duo-Type-Repellent. Unless...

Jake brought out something that looked similar to a recorder. It was a Pokeplayer. Ahh, most trainers nowadays used this device to try and attract the Pokemon they wanted to capture. Now, he retrieved a black-colored disk. I peered at the label, and it said Sandile. Typical, though most people preferred to encounter a Litwick and maybe Drilbur. But, a Sandile was a grand prize as well.

He slid the disk into the player, pressing a button. The loud cry of a Sandile rang out. If it did not attract a Sandile, it would certainly have signaled some other creatures of our current location.

My eyes gazed over the area, and I soon spotted an entity. Its physiology was similar to that of a horse. However, its mane and tail were made of fiery flames rather than the usual hair. Its fur, on the other hand, was cream all over. The Fire Horse Pokemon was looking at us curiously, a strip of grass visible from the edge of its mouth. It looked as though it was barely able to stand, its legs were not strong yet - so I figured it was somewhere near newborn.

"Well, it's not a Sandile, but would you be interested in a Ponyta?" I asked Jake. Personally, I thought Ponyta was a pretty "cool" creature, and I probably would try to catch one later on - once I get some free time.

As the Pokeplayer played the cry of a Sandile, Jake looked around trying to see if he could spot one. He kept looking until he saw a horse like pokemon. It wasn't Sandile but it was a Ponyta, it was unlucky for Jake that it had turned up. Jake didn't like Ponyta, just from his childhood and his older brother George always bullying him with his Rapidash. Jake heard his ranger then say,

"Well, it's not a Sandile, but would you be interested in a Ponyta?"

Jake looked at his ranger trying to wipe his grin away from his face. He then rummaged through his bag yet again and pulled out a little doll like pokemon. It was pink and in the shape of a Clefairy. Jake then said to his ranger,

"Childhood memories bring back pain. So i'm going to say no to Ponyta."

Jake then grasped the little pink doll as he pegged it at the Ponyta as it flew through the air towards the fire like horse. It landed at it's feet as Jake watched the Ponyta pick it up in it's mouth. Jake then looked back at the Pokeplayer in his other hand and said,

    "Let's try again shall we?"

Jake this time pulled out a different disc from his bag. Which clearly had marked on it Darumaka. He opened up the Pokeplayer and took out the Sandile disk and placed it back in his bag. He then inserted the Darumaka disc in and then said,

"Here we go. Second time lucky?"

Jake pressed the button as the cry of a Darumaka came out of the Pokeplayer. Jake stood still hoping that this time he would get what he was hoping for. It just relied on luck, time and place.

Jake looked at me with a grin plastered on his face. I raised an eyebrow curiously. Was he happy with this Ponyta? Did he plan on battling, and hopefully capturing, the wilde creature? Was he overjoyed? Even though his Voice Disk ahd not attracted a Sandile?

But, alas, I was wrong. He rummaged through his bag yet again, bringing out a Pokedoll. It was in the shape and form of a pink Clefairy. The toy was quite cute and all, but would it really grasp the attention of a Fire Horse Pokemon? Would it take interest in this doll? And if it did, for how long? Would it be long enough for us to escape? There was only one way to find out...

I was rather confused now, though. Why had he been smiling like this if he hadn't wanted this encouner?

"Childhood memories bring back pain. So i'm going to say no to Ponyta," the trainer explained, tossing the Pokedoll towards the Ponyta.
I watched it land right at the Fire-type's feet. Fortunately, it picked the pink toy up in its mouth, and trotted away.

I nodded at the teen's earlier statement. But, my mind wondered about what he had jsut said... Childhood memories? Pain? He must have had a rather rough life before. I shook those thoughts away, blinking twice as I caught myself staring off into the distance. I now focused on what Jake was saying; I wouldn't press on his childhood matter any further.

"Here we go. Second time lucky?" He was an optimistic guy, alright. He replaced the Sandile Voice Disk with another one. It was lebeled, "Darumaka." Interesting - in my opinion, at least.

He pressed the button once more, and a new series of growls played out.

I winced, not liking this any better than the earlier cries. I crossed my fingers, hoping that a Darumaka would come over already. I wasn't one for these Pokemon sounds. They were a bit unpleasant to the ears, and I don't think I could stand hearing them again. But, I had to - this was the profession I chose, and I would have to live with it; to tolerate it to the best of my abilities. I wouldn't show or tell the trainer - or any other ones - about that. Of course not.

I jumoped in surprise when my sky blue eyes caught sight of a pretty large ball rolling towards us. Okay, maybe I was exaggerating on how big it was.

"Hmm... Maybe not," I said, referring to Jake's earlier question.

The creature's exterior seemed to be a dry, tough hide, which was blending in with the ground as it rolled to us. I think it was meant for camouflage in the desert lands, though. It was curled into a tight ball - and I could now see it was about the same size as a basketball.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down there, little buddy," I said, bending down to stop it from rolling any further. "You're gonna get hurt, one way or another."

It opened up, revealing a seemingly soft cream-colored underbelly. It slashed at me suddenly, with those sharp claws on its paws. I knew they were used primarily for battle and digging, since I had read up more about basic or not-fully-evolved Pokemon more than fully-evolved ones. As for this one, I wasn't too interested in it - but I did remember even a few things about it.

I stood up quickly, just barely evading another slash from one of its make-shift weapon. I turned ot the male trainer. "We should probably go now, unless you want to battle this Sandshrew?"

As the cry of Darumaka played on Jake thought it was a bit cruel to lure pokemon in by making them think one of their own kind was in trouble. As Jake's ranger had pointed it out, there was a medium sized ball rolling towards us. Jake thought it was a boulder but as it drew closer it popped out of it's rolling when the ranger stopped it. It was yellow and had a creamy underbelly. Jake looked at it as he grabbed out another Pokedoll out of his bag and said,

"Here you go. Run off little Sandshrew."

As Jake threw the little pink Clefairy doll at Sandshrew it poked it's claw through it and looked at it. Jake thought he would keep trying the discs until they worked. He had came into the park with a goal. That was what he wanted to achieve, he then looked at his ranger and sighed and said

"Come on. Third time lucky. Just give me a Darumaka!"

Jake pressed the play button again as Darumaka's cry started again. Jake was feeling really peed off now that the Darumaka wouldn't turn up. Plus the hot atmosphere and the heavy dusty fog was making him feel a bit nauseous. He just stood there putting up with the conditions waiting for a pokemon to come. In the distance Jake could see different types of pokemon like Growlithe playing together. Then he looked up to see a steel type bird pokemon flying to "Outer Heavens". Jake picked up what it was, it was Skarmory. He was sick of the Pokeplayer already so getting his mind of it wouldn't hurt.

"Run off little Sandshrew," the trainer said, tossing the creature another one of his Pokedolls.

I found myself thinking, Ouch, poor doll. once I had seen the doll get pierced by the Ground-type's sharp claw. it wouldn't be able to curl and roll away - not until that doll would come off.

Tumbling about here was pretty dangerous, especially since the path was rough and sometimes rocky. There would be an occasional boulder on the either on side of the path. And, who knows, rolling around here just might get you severely wounded. Plus, there was the Front Gate, which was made of metal. If we hadn't been there to stop the Mouse Pokemon, who knows what kind of trouble it might have gotten into at the entrance.

I motioned for Jake to follow as he pressed the Play button on the PokePlayer once more. He was certainly hoping it was third time lucky. He seemed to really badly want that Darumaka, and, perhaps, Sandile as well.

We continued to walk along the path as the shrill cries of the target creature continued to echo around the zone. The gravel path was certainly not very even, and there were seldom breaks in it. When I would notice it, I'd warn Jake with a quick, "Watch out!"

I even almost tripped on one myself. Luckily, I was used to this now. What with coming here thrice before - yes, this was the fourth time in my whole ranger career that I had visted the place (and I haven't been part of the National Park Staff for very long, mind you) - as well as scurrying around at the Ranger Outposts, who would not be used to this?

Right then. Well, we came across the entrance to the volcano eventually. And there was still no sign of Darumaka or Sandile. I nodded at my trainer with a determined and brave smile. I had been through these cave networks numerous times - there was nothing, as of the moment, that I should fear of... Was there?

Being here thee times before, I - in a way - knew the first few paths and caverns by heart. Plus, I had my Ranger's Digital Assistant with me, which had a very descriptive and detailed map of the mountain. However, it was not yet complete, but I was certain it would help immensely today.

I would need all the information I could get on the geographical locations of the dungeons in this volcano, seeing as Jake was rather determined on finding a Sandile and Darumaka. Hey, I just might complete my map today!

We journeyed onwards, setting foot in the cave. The sunlight from outside was, apparently, strong enough that we did not need a flashlight to guide as through. Well, for now, at least. I gazed onwards, my eyes adjusting to the dimness rather quickly. I was used to seeing the seemingly endless hollow void of black. I knew there would be fork in the road at some point, now as to where it was...

Suddenly, I felt I was in pitch black darkness. I hadn't noticed that we had left the aid of the sun's rays a moment or two ago. My hand immediately went to my bag, and I rummaged through it in the shadows.

"Argh..." I groaned audibly in exhasperation, I needed light. Sure, I had done this before - but that was when the sunlight had still been with us. I should have noticed earlier. I kept on slapping and scolding myself mentally for not noticing it sooner.

"Pokedoll, Pokedoll, Pokeball, Revival Herb... Oh man, my hand's gonna smell..." I mumbled to myself, trying my best to say it quietly. My muttering continued, "Super Potion, Max Revive. Revival Herb, Antidote, Hyperball... Gah!"

Suddenly, out of the blue, a flare of light brightened up out path. Somehow, I had gotten so used to the darkness, I had to force my eyes shut from the blinding light.

I looked up, pausing in awe. You wouldn't see this everyday - even though loads of people wanted to capture one... It had a purple flame atop its head. Its body seemed to be made up primarily of white wax. The folded, melted wax layers covered its right eye, and left only the bright, yellow left eye visible. It has a small smile, which caused me to grin somehow.

"Well, how about that, Jake?" I asked the teen, actually addressing him for the first time. "Are you interested in battling this Litwick?"

I knew that he wanted a Sandile and Darumaka, but would he want a Litwick? Most people nowadays did, and I, myself, actually wanted one as well. Besides, if Jake Fennet did not want one, he could always try to capture it and use it as trade bait. Though that would be a little mean, but that was the world of Pokemon, essentially.

As we the ranger and I kept on walking while I held onto the Pokeplayer in both hands nothing appeared. We kept on walking until we got to a cave. Nothing wanted to respond to the Pokeplayer as Jake pressed the stop button on the side, he unzipped his backpack and put it in his backpack safely. He zipped the bag back up as he set his sights forward. The ranger was a nice lady but seemed to be a bit scared of the cave like she hadn't been here before.

It became darker the further we walked into the cave. The dim light of the entrance looked very tiny from where we were. As the ranger rummaged around through her backpack trying to find a torch or a light source James looked on trying to see through the darkness. The cave wasn't really hot when they entered but as they got further it became slowly hotter. The ranger kept rummaging hoping to find a light source but then a flare of light started to glow and light the place up.

Jake's ranger seemed stun to see this pokemon ahead of them. She stared in awe as we both looked at the pokemon that had a flame at the top of it's head and wax melting down it's candle like body. Then it had a grin which seemed to not only make Jake's ranger grin but he grinned himself. Jake's ranger then addressed Jake as she said

"How about that Jake, are you interested in battling this Litwick?"

Litwick, that was the pokemons name. It seemed to have a click in Jake's memory bank as he tried to remember. As he slowly remembered he then started to flashback again. He started to blank out as he replayed the story in his head.

    (Jake's Flashback)
As Jake was walking through a cave, not much different from the one he was in now. He did not have a light source with him as he ventured on with only his pokemon on the side of his belt. The cave went pitch black as he fell down through a hole or a pitfall. He fell to the ground as he felt the pain from not getting grip to stop himself from hurting himself.

The room or concealed space was suddenly lit up as Jake turned around he saw many pokemon, they all had flames on the top of their head and had a candle like body. Jake pulled his pokedex out wondering what type of pokemon it was. He had learnt that the pokemon that were surrounding him were Litwick. But they didn't look so happy.

The Litwick stared at Jake as he must have disturbed them in some way. Their smiles had turned upside down into a frown. They were peed off.
    (End of Flashback)

The last memory of that day had been Jake waking up outside of the cave with bruises and burn marks on his clothes and body. He couldn't remember how he got out of there. But this battle seemed fair now that their was only one Litwick in Jake's road. He looked at Litwick grabbing one of the four red and white pokeballs of his belt. He pressed the middle button as the size of the ball increased as he pointed the ball towards the ground and out came a machine like pokemon. It looked like a UFO at first but once the red gleaming light cleared it showed it's true colors as a Magnezone.

Jake had only just acquired Magnezone not so long ago, he got it from Bumblebee16 a trainer from the URPG. Jake was a participant in the URPG and was gifted the Magnezone. Jake is still very thankful to Bumblebee16 for gifting him the Magnezone. As Jake focused back onto the battle he could feel the heat of the cave getting onto his head as a sweat drop fell of his head. Jake looked at Magnezone as he said,

"Magnezone. Let's start this off with a Thunder Wave."

Jake hoped that Thunder Wave would paralyze the Litwick making it slower then before and having more chances of not being able to move. Jake hoped the plan would work and if it didn't Jake didn't actually know what attack Litwick had and how it could use them. It was a battle of hope from where Jake was coming from.

Magnezone's Jolly was quite the advantage at that. The nature Jolly is a pokemon that is happy and high spirited. The pokemon with the nature loves encouragement and it is hard to bring it's spirits down. It is also able to make friends with wild pokemon, even while in battle. As long as the trainer asks his pokemon with Jolly nature to act nicely they can help increase the chances of a capture very slightly and would decrease the chance of the wild pokemon running away.

As Jake had studied up on natures before his second trip into the park he had learnt that they can help in special ways. He just hoped that Magnezone's Jolliness would be able to make the Litwick not feel bad or angry. By the time Jake had finished using his spray he saw his Magnezone powering itself up as it looked ready for battle. Magnezone finished powering it's body as it released blue lightning bolts out of the magnets on the side of it's body. The bolts of electricity where so quick that Jake could see them. As they neared closer to the Litwick, Jake felt a sense of hope that he could get this Litwick. Even know it was't a Sandile or Darumaka it was something rare.

Jake had been planning this National Park trip for some time after he had finished his previous one. But with this one he had set himself two goals. Which were to catch Sandile and Darumaka. But so far the plan wasn't going so well. Jake knew if he was to capture this Litwick from the park, most people in the URPG would want to trade him for it. But Jake wasn't going to let this one go cheap. He knew if he were to catch it, it would be his.

Jake didn't answer right away whether or not he wanted to capture this Litwick. I understood though, since he was mainly looking for a Darumaka and Sandile, he might not want to waste his or his Pokemon's energy on this one.

He looked straight at the Candle Pokemon as his hand slipped to one of the red-and-white orbs on his belt. He pointed the front part of the sphere to the ground in front of us, pressing the button embedded on the middle of it.

A flash of white, and a moment later, an Electric-Steel-type emerged. At first sight, it looked a bit like a UFO or some kind of spacecraft due to its shape and form. But I knew better, this was a Magnezone - the final evolved form of Magnemite. I had always wanted a Magnemite myself, and I was planning on getting one - one of these days.

"Magnezone. Let's start this off with a Thunder Wave," the trainer commanded. I gave a slight nod of approval. Nowadays, it would most probably be wise if you managed to inflict a status condition on the target. This way, it would be easier to attempt a catch since it would be weakened like a sickness.

This particular move that the teen had ordered was nothing new. The user would create electric sparks from a convenient place in the entity's body - in this case, it was from the magnets situated at the side of its body. Then, the blue lightning bolts had been shot forward in several tendrils of electricity. These streaks coiled themselves around the enemy, wrapping it in a tight bind.

I could see Jake's partner concentrating on delivering the move to the best of its abilities. Its eye was glowing a slight blue hue, focusing on constricting the Ghost-Fire-type. Thunder Wave was one that caused the target to be under the effects of paralysis, if performed correctly. From what I was seeing, and comparing it to what I had learned and experienced before, OB1 was doing just fine.

In a moment, the electric waves had disappeared, releasing the Liwick from their "killer grip". It seemed to have gone limp momentarily from the pain it was enduring...

"Liit-wiick..." it cried out, standing up straight and tall. It blinked before powering up once more. Its body glowed slightly for a minute, before opening its mouth to release a series of flames.

The fiery embers danced in the air as it pushed them towards the male trainer's Pokemon. They were burning a bright orangish-red color, surrounding the Magnezone. They closed in, attacking all at once. Luckily, this attack had not done too much damage...

Now, the wild creature was gathering energy once more. Its eyes were glowing this time, a very ghostly dark purple energy surrounding them. They came in contact with the opponent, rings of the same shade emitting from it.

I cocked my head in confusion, what move was this? I mentally went through a list of all possible moves a Litwick could learn - at least naturally, since they didn't get that much training here. I soon settled on it being a different kind of Confuse Ray, one that looked like a Hypnosis attack. But I was certain it was the former, as I could just barely see a streak of light light yellow in the middle of those circular bands.

As Magnezone sent the electric beams of it's magnets on the side of it's body Jake wondered would it be enough to paralyze the Litwick. Jake knew if he paralyzed it he would have an advantage over the Litwick making the candle like pokemon slower than normal and having a chance of not being able to move.

The electric bolts flew threw the air as Magnezone's eye started to have a tint glow of blue in it. Jake knew it was trying to control the Thunder Wave as it neared the Litwick. As Jake watched on he saw the bolts start creating a circle around the Litwick as it seemed to maintain the Litwick inside. Then they disappeared as Jake heard,

    "Lit-wiick..."

The Litwick cried as the electric field around it disappeared seeming to leave behind the static of the electricity making it harder for Litwick to move. Litwick opened it's mouth wide as it released a series of flames. They flew through the air as they came and hit Magnezone just below it's eye. Jake hoped it didn't hurt Magnezone much.

Magnezone's eye closed as it tried to quickly save energy and get over the attack that Litwick had just used. Jake recognized what move it had just used, it was Ember. It was a fire type attack that wasn't the strongest attack of all fire attacks but it could take a chunk of health out of a pokemon.

Jake looked at Litwick as he saw Litwick's eyes start glowing he remembered more from the flashback. Jake knew the affects of the move and knew the attack name, it was Confuse Ray. It could confuse the opposing pokemon making them have chances of misreading the trainers commands and attacking itself instead.

Jake had remembered now another bit to the puzzle as to what happened that day in the cave. The Litwick must have used Confuse Ray to make Jake become confused as he wouldn't remember what happened after that. He still had yet to know how he woke up from sleeping. That bit was still a mystery, it made Jake's head dizzy as he thought more about it.

Jake looked at Litwick as it was charging it's attack, it looked ready to attack. Jake had to figure out something to counter it, he didn't want Magnezone becoming confused at the start of the battle. He then pulled out his pokedex out of his backpack as he unzipped it,he looked for a tough move that Magnezone could use. As he scrolled through he found an attack, it was strong and looked like it could cause some good damage. He put his Pokedex back in his bag as he zipped it up. He looked at Magnezone and said,

"Wakka, try to dodge Confuse Ray! Then use Discharge!"

Jake hoped his plan would work, Magnezone's jolly nature wasn't really working in this battle as the Litwick looked to be a tad pissed off. Jake was hoping it would come as an advantage in the battle but it seemed like it wouldn't. Jake watched as he saw Litwick still getting ready for it's attack. He watched as Magnezone floated in the air moving away from Litwick hoping it would dodge it's Confuse Ray.

Magnezone eye then started glowing red as it went a very dark red color. It aimed down it's sight, Litwick. As it charged up the energy in it's body it looked to become more controlled and possessed as it then released a light blue beam of electricity flying through the air straight towards Litwick.

Jake hoped that Discharge would hit as it would make the Litwick weaker and easier to catch. Litwick was a strong pokemon to face in battle and if used right could be a very strong pokemon. Discharge neared closer to Litwick as it was still trying to use Confuse Ray. Jake crossed his fingers hoping the Litwick would be to paralyzed to use Confuse Ray and that Discharge would hit.

The area we were battling in was damp still but it had heated up after Litwick had used Ember. Plus the cave being so close to a Volcano wasn't very helping. The sweat was starting to drip off Jake's head and his hair stared to become a bit wet. There was also a heavy dusty fog onto the battlefield making it quite hard to see through. The atmosphere was getting hotter as each turn passed.

Jake then remembered back to some training he had did before he had come into the park. He blanked out remembering his flashback as he replayed it in his head.

    (Flashback:)
Dusk, a time for trainers to go inside and rest the night. It was cold and Jake wanted to train. He had only acquired Magnezone not so long ago. He was trying to train some of Magnezone's moves, he had met a trainer named Ned. He has used a Gengar in the battle they had. It was a tough battle that was very daunting as it went through each turn.

Ned had the first move as he commanded his Gengar to use Confuse Ray. Jake hadn't yet seen this move before as he watched Gengar's eyes glow. They went red as it sent a yellow beam towards Magnezone and hit it right in it's eye. Magnezone had seemed to become possessed. Ned was telling his pokemon moves trying to show Jake new tactics. He had first used Confuse Ray, that was the move previously used.

Jake then told Magnezone to use Gyro Ball. It was a move Eli had seen the Olivine Gym leader use when she was on Television. It was a strong move that could cause some nice damage on pokemon. Magnezone tried it's best to create a steel ball with it's magnets. As it created the steel ball it then tried to push it forward. Unluckily for Magnezone it was to confused to attack.

It only took another two turns of Magnezone's failed attacks and Gengar had it KO'd. Gengar was tactical against Magnezone as it made it get the status condition of Confusion. Magnezone was to confused for the rest of the battle as Gengar took it out with two consecutive moves called Shadow Ball. It had used the specially tough move to take it out.

Jake had learnt Confuse Ray was a very tactical move and could make the opponent's attacks have more chance of not working. It could give a major advantage to the user of the move and a major disadvantage to the opponent. That night was a very sad night for Jake because he lost, but he knew that now he knew this move it would come in handy if he was in trouble some time.
    (End Flashback)

Jake snapped back out of the flashback as he looked at his ranger and wondered what she thought about him having sudden flashbacks and how his stratergy was panning out. But he decided not to ask her yet. He would ask her later if he caught the Litwick, it was a really pokemon and it was now on Jake's want list. He just hoped his Magnezone was tougher then it was in the Gengar battle.

I saw the trainer bring out is Pokedex, scrolling through it. I wasn't sure what he was looking for, but he seemed to have found it pretty quickly. Had he scanned the wild Litwick? No, it couldn't have been that as there wasn't any squeaky machine voice talking about it. Or, perhaps, he was going through a list of either the Candle Pokemon or OB1's attacks? Yes, it had to be that.

"OB1, try to dodge the Confuse Ray! Then, use Discharge!" Jake ordered in the nick of time. Any second later and it would have been too late.

The Magnezone blinked quickly, floating out of the move's range. It shook a bit, presumably a bit dazed and dizzy from the rings that had actually hit it. It was not under the effects of Confusion, but who knew, it might just get that status ailment later on.

"Mag-zoone..." OB1 growled, gathering energy for its attack. Electricity seemed to spark at the magnet's edges. This caused me to wonder where the electrical power was coming from. Was there loads of them in the cave? Maybe so...

Its eye was glowing a dark shade of red now. A moment later, all these somewhat blue-ish electrical currents shot out as if from nowhere. But we all knew better, it was from the Electric-Steel-type.

The beams of yellow electrical tendrils zipped throughout the cave. They circled the Ghost-Fire-type before ramming straight into it like a locked-on target, sending electrical shocks surging through its body. It blended with the paralysis, in a way, causing it to yelp out in pain.

The opponent began to glow, but then it stopped. It seemed to have stopped moving... A seemingly invisible force pushing it down. To simply put it, the Litwick was paralyzed.

"Well, that was lucky. I guess?" I commented, a bit curious as to why the male teen was looking at me with a rather weird expression.

I had noticed him, uh, zoning out every once in a while. Had he encountered an entity like this before? And if so, where and how? Was it a good or bad experience? Or, perhaps, he was just having flashbacks on his previous battles and maybe training? Most likely with Magnezone...

All these questions were flooding through my head, and I was blanking out. I shook myself, turning my attention back to the battle. I really just had to stop being curious and worrying about these things during Park expeditions. It just wasn't right...

OB1 turned slightly to look at Jake, awaiting further commands. I, too, wondered what his next tactic would be. His Magnezone didn't look to be very happy at this point in time, however, even with his nature being Jolly. I figured it was because he'd rather make friends with the Candle Pokemon instead of battling and hurting it. It was, after all, a friendly Magnet Area Pokemon.

    OOC: Male please.

Jake watched on as had seen it all unfold, bit by bit. Jake had wondered how Magnezone was able to produce electricity with just it's body, he had the feeling there was something to it that no one had yet found the solution to. Magnezone had produced the electricity as the electrical tendrils zipped through the air flying towards Litwick.

The electric tendrils crashed into Litwick's candle body. It seemed to keep it perfectly still in a status of paralyzation. Litwick had still been charging to use Confuse Ray, but after being paralyzed by Thunder Wave and then hit by Discharge it was to paralyzed to send the rest of the ghost move to confuse Magnezone. But Magnezone still felt dizzy from the rings that had reached it. Jake's ranger then pointed out to him that he was lucky it Litwick paralyzed.

Jake looked worried as he hoped that Magnezone would not go under the status of Confusion. He then remembered reading about some special attacks that could guarantee the next attack would hit. He just couldn't remember the name. Jake tried his best to mentally remember the move but just couldn't seem to get it. So he decided to go to his pokedex so he could find the move he was looking for.

Jake unzipped his bag and pulled out the little red pokedex out of his bag. It had a special sticker of Zoroark to remind him of his starting pokemon and his lifelong partner. He then flipped open the pokedex as it started up. He then searched for the move in Magnezone's attack list. He was reading the description column and couldn't find it until he scrolled upon the description of "Ensures that the user's next move will hit the target". He then looked at the name as he read it out to himself "Lock-On".

This move could ensure that the next attack would hit. But Jake needed an attack that was sure to cause major damage but didn't have much chance of hitting. He scrolled through the list and nothing came up the Jake had thought was powerful to take a huge chunk out of Litwick's health. As he scrolled to the bottom he then came across a move that had 120 attack power and only 50% chance of hitting. The moves name was Zap-Cannon.

Jake was trying to work out the stratergy in his head as he worked it out, one step after another. He came to the conclusion of Magnezone using Lock-On to guarantee it's next attack would hit and then he would use the very powerful electric move known as Zap Cannon to lower the Litwick to low health. The plan in Jake's head looked perfect and flawless. But he was relying on Litwick being to paralyzed to attack.

Jake closed up the pokedex as he glanced at the Zoroark sticker once more. Then he put it safely back inside his backpack, and zipped the bag up again. Jake's eyes then concentrated on Litwick as he set his mind to the battle and then looked at his Magnezone as it looked ready to be told an attack. Jake then pictured the scene in his head once more making sure it looked and sounded right. He then said to Magnezone in a normal voice with no flaws at all,

"Magnezone firstly use Lock-On to guarantee your next attack will hit. Then once you have used Lock-On follow it with Zap Cannon to take a chunk out of Litwick's health!"

Magnezone looked at Jake as it seemed to completely understand what he has said. Magnezone then studied Litwick closely as it started to make calculations of the exact spot it was in and how much it could move if it was to try and move out of the road. Zap Cannon was a tough attack to perform but with the help of Lock-On it could almost be 100% successful.

Magnezone finished with it's calculations as it still had it's focus set on Litwick. Magnezone was focused and controlled, it's previous trainer Bumblebee16 must have trained it well because it's focus on battle was pretty much perfect. Jake just hoped that it could finish the other half of it's orders.

Magnezone floated in the air as it powered itself up. It was taking a while, but it was logical for such a powerful attack to take so long to charge for. Magnezone seemed to be creating an electrical ball with the power of it's magnets. The ball had massive amounts of volts inside it just looking to be released out of the ball. Magnezone made sure once more it had it's Lock-On Litwick as it released the electric heavy ball towards Litwick. It flew through the air looking to take a chunk out of Litwick's health. And that's what Jake wanted the attack to do.

OOC: It shouldn't KO I don't think. At least I hope it doesn't.

The male trainer unzipped his bag once again. He retrieved his red Pokedex, and this time, I noticed it had a special sticker stuck on it. In the dim light of the cave, I managed to make out the figure of a Zoroark - the Illusion Pokemon. Jake began to scroll through a list of moves once more...

"Magnezone firstly use Lock-On to guarantee your next attack will hit. Then once you have used Lock-On follow it with Zap Cannon to take a chunk out of Litwick's health!" he ordered after a few moments. I would say he was lucky for the wild Litwick was fully paralyzed as of the moment. Thus, OB1 had not any need to rush this attack combo - it could concentrate on executing the command.

Lock-On was a move that was useful in most cases, though not commonly used. It was best used before very strong attacks that had a rather low chance of hitting, unless the Pokemon would be able to focus really hard on the target. And during battles, it was easier said than done.

Now, by using Lock-On before Zap Cannon - an attack that had a mere fifty percent chance of hitting - it would guarantee that the 120-Base-Powered Electric-typed move would hit the Candle Pokemon dead on.

OB1's eye began to glow a white aura, concentrating on calculating the enemy's exact location. I wasn't really sure how Lock-On worked, but in any case, the next attack always seemed to hit. I just hoped Zap Cannon would not be too over-the-top and manage to knock out the poor Fire-type (and more importantly, poor Jake)...

The Magnet Area Pokemon continued to levitate, and soon enough, the light energy dissipated. This signaled that the first portion of the combo had been completed. I wondered how precise its vision was now - was there a grid-like screen? Or, perhaps, all those numbers and charts and everything? It sounded rather weird and impossible, but hey, this was the world of Pokemon. The impossible just became possible.

I snapped out of it, turning my attention back to the battle at hand. Right now, the teen's partner was gathering electrical energy and power. Zap Cannon was a strong attack, indeed, so it was not surprising - to me, at least - that it was taking a little longer than usual for it to charge up. Much like the earlier attacks, electricity was being sucked in from someplace into the Magnezone, through the use of the magnets situated on its sides.

In a moment's time, a yellow-colored orb, which was surging with volts and currents, began to form. Zap after zap from OB1, and it slowly grew to be a rather large electric sphere - like a cannon ball during a war. With a mighty push, the entity released the ball, flinging it through the air. Due to Lock-On, it seemed to be on a straight, exact path to Litwick, looking to take a big chunk of his health.

The wild creature, on the other hand, was just beginning to recover from paralysis. He slowly brought himself up from his lying down position, gulping heavily as his eyes caught sight of the scene that greeted him. An electricity-filled orb slammed right into him directly, dealing a good load of damage. Not only that, but the Zap Cannon had pushed the hurt creature back into the darkness.

Minutes passed without a word uttered... Had the Candle Pokemon been knocked into unconsciousness? Or was he just trying to regain the last bits of his energy?

The questions were soon answered as I pointed my flashlight towards the direction of where he had been sent flying. He was standing, and a look of determination seemed to be plastered on his face.

The fire atop his head was glowing brightly, seemingly distributing Fire power all around him. You could just make out the shadowy embers dancing around the Pokemon as he prepared for his next assault. The flame grew bigger and stronger, and soon, a circle of fire enveloped him. Next thing I knew, the Fire-type had sent the burst of fiery fire directly at Magnezone.

It must have been one mighty heave, for OB1 barely had any time to react. And even if it did, Jake probably wouldn't have enough time to issue a command. The flames barraged straight into it furiously, pushing the Steel-Electric-type backwards - he was giving it a taste of its own medicine, in a way.

"Jake! Watch out!" I warned the trainer. His partner was struggling to stay off the ground, as well as trying its best to stop flying backwards... The teen had to get out of the way, or stop the Magnet Area Pokemon before it could slam into him.

Jake watched the intense battle rage on, he felt a sense of luck knowing that Litwick was in the state of paralysis. As long as it was in that state it's movement was very limited. Jake just hoped it would be able to hold the Litwick off from attacking. Jake watched as OB1 his Magnezone had readied itself for the massive offensive attack that it was about to unleash. With Lock-On Discharge was an accuracy machine, it was pretty much guaranteed to hit Litwick. Litwick then got pounded by the electric ball as it smashed into the candle like pokemon. The electric ball was even powerful to knock it back into the darkness as it's flame seemed to disappear. Jake wondered if he had KO'd it, he certainly didn't want to KO it. But it was all silent.

Jake's rude ringer was crossed over his pointer finger as he tightly squeezed them together as he just hoped he didn't KO Litwick, he wanted to get this pokemon and make it part of his team. It was a goal for any trainer to try and capture a rare pokemon like Litwick seeing as it wasn't a very common sight. Jake then saw a little purple flame flicker, he looked closer as he saw Litwick readying itself for an attack. It had broken through it's paralysis for now and was aiming it's sights on OB1.

Litwick seemed to have been recovering it's energy while lurking in the dark shadows, it was a smart tactic and Jake was taking it into account to maybe use it somewhere when needed. It could come in handy in different situations. But then Litwick started to get shadowy embers floating around it's body, Jake hadn't ever seen this attack before. The shadowy embers quickly grew in size as they then enveloped the Litwick inside. Jake didn't know what was going on, did it just KO itself on purpose?

That question was quickly sent to the answer'd pile as he watched the flames that had enveloped the candle pokemon get pushed straight towards Magnezone looking to take it out. The attack looked very tough and could take quite a chunk of health out of OB1. The fiery embers then connected with Magnezone as they scattered around it's metal body sending pain throughout the robot magnet pokemon. Like a human it had felt genuine pain, even know it was a machine.

The attack that Litwick had used was certainly a strong one, it was even strong enough to push Magnezone back flying towards Jake. The magnet pokemon was on a collision cause with Jake, he needed to act quickly or get pounded by his own pokemon. Jake's ranger had jumped the gun as she told him to watch out, it had helped alot. Jake quickly dived to the right and avoided the Magnezone as it flew through the air. The Magnezone then crashed into a wall inside the cave, it seemed to have caused a very tiny tremor from the impact of the pokemon.

Jake wanted revenge on this little candle pokemon, Jake could feel himself bonding now with Magnezone as he was trying to be a better trainer to his pokemon. He looked at Magnezone as he eyed down the Litwick thinking of another plan of attack. Jake looked back at Magnezone as it slowly started recovering from the attack and the impact of the smash against the wall. He felt quite guilty for having to put his pokemon through all of this.

Jake glared his eyes through the darkness as he quickly tried to devise a plan. The Litwick stood still on the spot trying to break from it's paralysis. It was a tough barrier to break, most pokemon couldn't even break the barrier. Jake had worked it out, his first attack must have caused only minor damage. But after the Lock-On - Discharge combo it must have caused alot more damage leaving the candle pokemon at low health. Jake didn't want to risk KOíng the Litwick so he started to stress over the situation.

Jake closed his eyes thinking of some of Magnezone's moves that wouldn't cause a knockout, he tried to think of an attack that wasn't to weak or strong. It was a challenge as it racked his nerves as he knew he must have been slowly running out of time before the Litwick would try to attack again. Then he had the move he was going to use, it was an electric type move like normal. It wasn't to weak or to strong it was just powerful enough to leave it at just enough health for a capture.

Jake looked at his Magnezone as it looked at Jake with it's one eye. He then said to Magnezone,

    "You ready Magnezone?"

The Magnezone didn't respond, but it started hovering over towards Jake looking ready for whatever order he was going to choose. Jake was now ready to order Magnezone the attack. He eyed down Litwick again and said to Magnezone,

    "Magnezone use Thundershock on Litwick."

It was one of Jake's simplest orders to attack so far, but that wasn't a matter. The attack was the matter, he just hoped it would work and leave it with just enough health for him to capture it. But it didn't just rely on Magnezone hitting this attack, it also relied on Litwick staying Paralyzed throughout his attack.

Magnezone's body then started glowing a very bright yellow. It looked kind of like the sun as it flared towards his eyes causing him to blink a few more times then regularly. The Magnezone then concentrated as the electricity surrounding it's body started forming into lightning bolts. Then with Magnezone's mental ability and physical force it sent the bright yellow lightning bolts towards Litwick. The lightning bolts stretched from the top of the cave to the ground of the cave as they quickly spread through the room heading towards one thing. Litwick. Jake tried to relax himself as he took a few deep breaths in and then out.

I stood there helplessly, hoping that my warning call had helped Jake. As of the moment, I couldn't dive in and push him out of the way - that would cause me to collide with OB1 instead. I wish I had been able to keep him out of trouble, instead of just shouting worriedly at him earlier. We, rangers, weren't really allowed to help the trainers during their expedition - the only things we could do was guide them around and give them tips every now and then - but desperate times called for desperate measures, that's what I had learned. Unfortunately, I hadn't enough time to react earlier - I was pretty slow, I'll give you that. Now, it was all up to the male teen.

Fortunately, Jake managed to jump to the right side of the cave, and I don't think he injured or hurt himself physically by doing so - thanks heavens for that. As for the Magnezone, it wasn't as lucky. The poor thing might have avoided pounding into its trainer, but it had instead collided with a rather rocky, bulky tough wall of the mountain.

The teen looked at his Pokemon through the darkness of the cavern, and I could vaguely make out fury glistening in his eyes. He seemed to be plotting revenge on the little Candle Pokemon. I wouldn't question him, no, because I probably would want to avenge my partner as well if I was in his shoes. However, the wild creature was rather low on health - another strong attack might just be the end of this battle... We wouldn't want that now, would we? So, I was rather intrigued to find out how Jake planned on revenge while still not knocking out the Ghost-Fire-type.

"You ready, Magnezone?" the trainer called out to the Magnet Area Pokemon. There wasn't a reply at first, and I was starting to get worried - for both his and his partner's sake. Was OB1 okay? Did the impact sap its health? Was it knocked out unconscious?

In a moment's time, the Electric-Steel-type began to hover towards its master. I breathed a sigh of relief - "contentment" washing over my face. But the small grin I had on vanished the moment I studied the entity. It seemed to be in a a rather dazed and dizzy state, presumably under the effect of confusion from the earlier Confuse Ray and crash against the cave. I voiced out my thoughts to Jake, telling him Magnezone could probably be confused at this point in time.

"Magnezone, use Thundershock on Litwick." So this was his plot for revenge. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. I'd say it seemed to be a pretty solid plan - as long as OB1 would manage to overcome the status ailment to perform this attack. It also relied a bit on the target staying paralyzed, though not utterly necessary for the move to hit.

Much like almost all Electric-typed assaults, electricity was clearly surging through the Magnet Area Pokemon's body as it glowed a very light yellow aura. The brightness bounced off its metallic body, illuminating the cave for a few moments. It was as though the sunlight was pouring in, reflecting off its exterior covering.

Then, electrical energy began to spark around it, forming into numerous small lightning bolts. It continued to concentrate - I knew it wanted to execute the command flawlessly, but was that possible with its confused state? Hopefully it was, we'd just have to wait and see. Now, OB1 flung these crackling tendrils of electricity at the Candle Pokemon. They soared through the air quickly... It had overcome its confusion - this time...

As for the Ghost-Fire-type, he was trying to move... To very little avail. Paralysis had struck him once again. I could see him pushing himself to try to dodge the Thundershock attack, but his status just would not let him. It was quite the lucky break for Jake and his Pokemon. The electric bolts surrounded their target before coming in and shocking him. A yelp escaped his lips as his health was drained.

Now, as the electricity dissipated, the Litwick did not seem to be paralyzed either. Lucky creature. He pulled on a scary face as red-colored energy emitted from his mouth. He began to shout and scream in a startling fashion. My hands shot up to cover my ears, my eyes closing in horror - and I was rather certain Jake had done the same. I caught a glimpse of the Magnezone, though, and it wasn't taking the attack too well either.

At last the terrible noise subsided, and I was able to spectate the battle once more. The Candle Pokemon's assault did not seem to have helped OB1's current situation, rather he made it worse. Confusion wasn't an easy thing to deal with, no, not at all. I just wondered how Jake would react to this.

Jake stood as he watched the battle rage on, it was getting more fierce as it went on. Jake had been wondering if the Litwick was ready to be captured, but it still looked strong enough to break free from the pokeball. Magnezone had just weakened it with Thundershock and Litwick had fired back with the attack known as Astonish. Astonish was a ghost type move built to help a pokemon become or stay confused. That's exactly what it had done to Magnezone.

Litwick had let out a strange substance from it's mouth as it also let out a very loud screech. Jake could hear how loud the sound waves were as he threw his hands quickly over his ears trying to stop himself from becoming temporarily or even fully deaf. Jake looked over to see if his ranger had covered her ears. She had, that was a good sign. But the problem was that that strange substance had covered all around Magnezone's metallic body as it seemed to confuse Magnezone.

Jake wanted this pokemon captured, but it was a pain knowing that Litwick still seemed tough enough to break out of a pokeball. Jake had to think of a plan, maybe an attack and then throw the ball. It clicked in his mind as he agreed with the statement he had thought of. But now he needed to figure out what attack to use. If he used a really weak move it would be pointless, but if he used a powerful move it would KO Litwick. It was a struggle for Jake to think of a move, but suddenly it snapped to him as he thought of it. Jake looked at Magnezone and said,

"Magnezone try to break your confusion and try to use Sonicboom!"

Sonicboom wasn't very strong but could still cause a bit of damage to weaken the candle pokemon enough for a guaranteed capture. But Jake was hesitant as he knew the chances were pretty high that Magnezone would be to paralyzed to attack. Jake needed to make sure he got Litwick, so he unzipped his bag and rumagged through it. He then grabbed onto a spherical shaped ball. It was a Hyper Ball, Jake had bough it from the National Park Shop before he had came. Jake eyed down Litwick as he closed his bag and graped onto the ball and said,

    "Go Hyper Ball! Catch Litwick!"

Jake then empowered his arm backwards past his shoulder as he then through it, Jake just hoped that Magnezone would break through it's confusion and use Sonicboom. If not Litwick would most likely see the ball flying straight at it. It was a very dependent on luck plan, but Jake was ready to take that plunge.

"Magnezone try to break your confusion, and try to use Sonicboom!" Jake called to his Pokemon. The attack seemed to fit perfectly into the current situation. The trainer knew what move he needed to use to lower the target's health to a level just ripe for the catch.

Sonicboom wasn't the strongest of attacks, but it was sound-based and could harm the opponent quite badly. All that was left now was for the Magnet Area Pokemon to overcome its confusion and use the move.

It focused, and soon, it was glowing a faint white color. A lucky break, and an important one, too. A moment later, it released a plain white, almost transparent, curved-shaped energy. It looked much like an Absol's crescent-shaped scythe.

The Normal-typed attack was flung through the air, and with a glint, it dissolved... It dissolved into invisible sound waves. In a way, you could see the supersonic streaks shooting to surround the Ghost-Fire-type. He was pushed back, a loud ringing echoing in his ears.

"Liitt-wiickk...." he yelped in pain before crashing to the cave's rocky ground.

I saw the trainer unzip his bag - the third time during this bout with the wild creature. After rummaging through it for a moment, he finally found what he was looking for. A spherical orb - a Hyperball.

"Go Hyper Ball! Catch Litwick!" the male teen shouted, gripping the ball tightly in his palm. Then, he thrust his arm backwards, the quickly forwards, flexing his wrist to throw the special ball.

It rapidly made its way to the Candle Pokemon, tapping him on the side of his head. With a bright flash of red, an erratic beam sucked him into the sphere. It dropped to the ground with a rather audible thud, wriggling "slowly" to the left, then to the other side. It continued to shake, until a satisfying click was heard.

I walked over to pick the orb up, gripping onto it tightly. This was a very, for lack of better term, significant capture. It was important to Jake - of course it was. Almost "anyone" would love to have a Pokemon such as this rather rare entity. I opened my bag, carefully placing the Hyperball into it - for sake-keeping, obviously.

"Congratulations on capturing the Litwick! As you probably already know, I'll have to hold onto him until the end of your expedition." I grinned at him, knowing he was more than happy with his catch.

I directed the bright beam of light from my flashlight towards farther, deeper into the cave. "Now, shall we continue along? Or would you like to pause and rest first after that battle?"

Magnezone broke through the barrier of Confusion it had upon it. It was a tough pokemon to be able to do that, but after that it had fired medium sized boomerang like shapes towards Litwick. They didn't look so dangerous, but once they hit the Litwick it showed they were actually quite hurtful. They sliced around Litwick's body leaving it heavily weak.

Litwick was to weak to keep up with Magnezone and before it knew it the Hyper ball that Jake had thrown had reached it. It bumped into the pokemon's body as it rocked back and forth once, twice, three times and then stopped in the middle and left a reassuring beep to show that Litwick had been captured.

Jake was super happy now, his ranger had kept the ball with Litwick inside as it was the national park rule and Jake had to oblige with it. He didn't mind, but now he could see that Magnezone was seeming a bit weak. Jake opened his bag again and pulled out a powder like bag. He walked over to Magnezone as he opened the bag and then let Magnezone eat the powder out of the bag.

The powder seemed to have healed the magnetic pokemon and gave it energy back. Jake placed the bag it was in back into his bag and zipped it back up. Jake then heard from his ranger asking him did he want to go on. Jake was very eager to continue on and knew there had to be some other good pokemon around this place.

Jake started walking taking his time as he left Magnezone out of it's ball so it could keep Jake company. Jake looked at his ranger and then said,

    "Let's keep on going."

He looked at her as he started walking, he knew she would follow because she was his ranger. So far this expedition of the park had gone really nicely.

Jake didn't answer at first, for he was busy looking through his bag again. I figured he was probably looking for a healing item or, maybe, Magnezone's Pokeball housing. In a moment's time, he retrieved a bag full of powder. The scent that reached my nostrils as it floated all around us, mixing in with the hot atmosphere, was not great... It had an herbal smell and feeling to it, but the trainer offered the powder to his partner anyway. I knew what this was - this would not be the first time I had smelled this.

OB1 obliged after a small amount of coaxing, eating - or rather, gulping down - the Energy Powder. Once he thought it had enough, Jake sealed the pouch, being careful so as not to spill any of its contents, before placing it back into his backpack. The Magnet Area Pokemon glowed faintly momentarily as the medicine took effect. It looked much more refreshed and energetic afterwards.

"Let's keep on going," Jake announced as he started to walk onwards. And his Electric-Steel-type companion followed suit by levitating right next to him. I nodded without uttering a single word, walking as well.

I glanced at my RDA, which was strapped on my wrist. With a push of an orange button and taps on a few screen icons, a map of the extensive cave networks of Mount Deckbi appeared on the screen. It wasn't complete yet, though, since I - apparently - hadn't been here enough times yet to finish it. Deckbi was a rather large volcano - no doubt about that. Besides, during my previous runs, we didn't get to, uh, wander around all the caverns of the mountain. This time, I wasn't counting on that happening either - but I was determined to complete the map someday. The gadget had a GPS tracking device built in, which explained the now-flashing red circle on the screen. It moved somewhat in time with our steps further, deeper into the dungeon networks.

I now focused my attention on the path we were traveling on. It was rocky and dusty as always, with some stalagmites sticking out here and there. I continued to shine the bright beam of light on the ground in front of us - but, I must admit, it was not very easy to navigate and illuminate the cave at the same time. However, I was quite familiar with this, here, parts of Mt. Deckbi already - for now, at least. So, the map wasn't much of a necessity just yet...

We didn't bump into any wild creatures for a while - and I wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad thing. Either way, it was - in my opinion - starting to get a bit boring now. I tried to strike up a conversation, but I couldn't really think of anything to say... I resulted to asking the trainer the usual, common question I tended to ask all the other people I had taken through a zone of the Park.

"So, Jake, are there any other Pokemon you might want other than Sandile and Darumaka?" I asked, referring to the Voice Disks he had played earlier - with no luck, unfortunately.

Suddenly, though, we heard a stomp echoing throughout the cavern tunnel. I directed the artificial light towards the source of the sound. It was a buffed-up humanoid-like creature with characteristics of a duck and salamander. It had pink-colored thighs and its legs were smaller in proportion compared to its body. It had pink lips and one singular flame atop its head. Two rows of pink spikes ran down its back, red and yellow fiery stripes zig-zagged around its body, and its tail was covered entirely in a blazing flare. The Blast Pokemon also had orange shoulder pads that resembled flames, while yellow, tubular arms had a black band and three claws each.

"Would you be interested in battling a Magmortar?" The rangers would never end in asking questions, that was a fact. Hopefully, I could think up enough dissimilarly-structured - but still similar in meaning - phrases so as not to bore Jake.

Jake had healed OB1 his Magnetic friend and it looked like it had just been healed at the pokemon center. Jake watched as the ranger fiddled around with the little device on her wrist and was seeming to look pretty deeply into it. Jake was guessing it was most likely a map, but he didn't worry about asking her whether it was or not. Jake was more focused on what was ahead of him, he had decided not to use a Voice Disk as they hadn't yet given him to much luck. He decided maybe later he shall try them again.

What Jake had just encountered was a fire type pokemon. It seemed to be shaped something to the effects of a humanoid creature. It looked threatening in Jake's opinion, but he didn't want to verse it for now as he heard his ranger ask if he would like to battle it. Jake was more obsessed getting the pokemon he actually wanted instead of those he didn't. Although the pokemon looked tough Jake knew it would have it's weaknesses.

Jake unzipped his bag as he grabbed out another pink Clefairy like Pokedoll. He zipped his bag back up and then grasped the doll quite tightly in his hand. He had watched the little doll successfully allow him to escape twice before. Now was going to be his third try of that. He then dragged his arm back behind his back and then threw it forward and released it flying towards the Magmortar.

The doll flew through the heat combustive air as it looked to have steam floating off it. The doll then bumped into the body of the Magmortar, Jake didn't know if it had been successful or not. But for now he was just hoping it would so he could continue on through the cave and explore the depths of it.

The heat was starting to get to Jake's body very quickly as the further his ranger and himself walked into the cave he sweated more. It was normal to sweat, but Jake was sweating heavily as he looked at Magnezone wondering how it would be feeling under that metal barrier of it's. It was a mystery to Jake as he tried to watch how the Magmortar would react to the Pokedoll. But then he said to his ranger,

"I hope this place cools down a bit. Or I might be the only water source around."

Jake was trying to make a joke out of it as he chuckled a little and wondered what his ranger thought of it. The emotions were all mumbled while they were under the pressure of the heat inside the cave. But Jake's tactic was to try and ignore to the best of his ability. Or at least until he fainted.
