The blonde Ranger winced as she tugged the comb through her messy, wavy locks. "Ow, ow, ow... c'mon I just want to put you up in a ponytail," she griped, frowning. Abila, her Espeon, raised her head off of her paws from her laying position and watched her mistress struggle as they waited for their Trainer to walk through the doors of the Main Outpost. Voltaire was to be taken through the Great Lakes, a place Zor hadn't frequented but loved to go to. She had a bit of an affinity for water and liked to swim and be near the beach. Ocean waves were also nice to listen to; being at the beach in the evenings was a little slice of heaven for the young woman. Voltaire Magneton, a very young, budding Trainer, was bringing his Lucario and Swampert along for the Park run; two Pokemon that Zor herself wasn't too familiar with, not having had the pleasure of training them, but she was sure the 14-year-old would do well in the Park today. It was nearing 10 o'clock in the morning; he was due any minute.

Abila perked up as the door opened right on time, a surprisingly tall, black-haired boy entering through it and looking around for the Ranger that was supposed to be taking him on his run. Abandoning her comb for the moment, Zor stood from her chair and walked over to the boy, sticking out her hand for a handshake. The Ranger's heart charm dangled on the silver bracelet she wore upon her wrist; she grinned and introduced herself with a friendly air.

"Hi! I'm Zorayda, and I'll be your Ranger for today. This is Abila, my Espeon. She and the rest of my team will be accompanying us today through the Great Lakes, mmkay?" she said all of this in a fast-paced, perky voice, her half-combed hair bouncing with her animated movements.

I hurriedly went to the Ranger Outpost because I woke up later than expected. I reached the place on time without forgetting things like the Poke Balls of Luke and Swampy, my Lucario and Swampert, and items like Poke Dolls and Super Balls.

I opened the door, and saw Ranger Zorayda and greeted me in a warm tone. "Hi! I'm Zorayda, and I'll be your Ranger for today. This is Abila, my Espeon. She and the rest of my team will be accompanying us today through the Great Lakes, mmkay?"

"Okay sure. Let's go!" I said in an energetic mood.

[OOC: Hey, sorry it's been a few days. Haven't been home much and I've been tired, lol. I'll try to be quicker from now on.]

"Mmkay, follow me, then," Zor said cheerfully. Abila trotted along behind the Ranger as they all headed towards the Docks, where a single boat awaited them. Zorayda hopped in and helped her Espeon clamber in, allowing Voltaire to get in as well. She started the motor and they made their way along a winding river that connected the entrances of all the Island's many sections and stopped in front of a huge gate with the words "Great lakes" in wrought iron across the top. She took out her nametag and zipped the card through the automated slot, making it beep and unlock the side gate. She grinned at Voltaire and gestured for him to follow her.

They went down to the sandy shore, where deep, clear blue water lapped at the banks. Zor grinned at Voltaire and his Pokemon.

"Okay, you've got a choice here. Either we head to the shallows a little ways down, or we can walk along the banks and seek out deep water Pokemon. Which would you prefer?"

    OOC: Thanks!

    ---

We rode a motorboat to cruise along the river that connected all of the lakes. We continued to cruise until we reached a sandy shore with the clean water colliding with the ground.

"Okay, you've got a choice here. Either we head to the shallows a little ways down, or we can walk along the banks and seek out deep water Pokemon. Which would you prefer?" Ranger Zor asked me.

What should I choose? I thought. The banks look like they have a lot of great Pokemon, but the shallows seem to contain some simple Pokemon.

"We should go to the shallows," I said after a quick thought.

“Okay then!” Zorayda answered Voltaire cheerfully, practically skipping as she led him down to the water’s edge. It was fairly clear along the horizon, though tall marshy grasses lined the bank of the shallow lake water. The smell of vegetation and wet soil permeated the air as they walked along, Zor’s Espeon calmly strolling alongside her mistress and seemingly enjoying herself. A quiet sound could be heard, and the Ranger held her hand out to stop Voltaire. She put a finger to her lips and they listened; the sound of gnawing could be heard. Something was chewing on a hard object nearby.

Zor parted the grasses and revealed a small, fuzzy brown figure that looked up at them with a somewhat startled expression. A half-gnawed log that had been dragged to the water’s edge was by its paws; behind that, a partially built dam was visible, wrapped together with reeds and tucked neatly into an intricate design that redirected the water at the beaver Pokemon’s whim.

“Beee-doof!” It exclaimed in surprise, crouching down and looking nervous at the arrival of the human Trainers. Zor grinned at Voltaire.

“Bidoof! Do you want to capture it?”

OOC: Male, please. And yes, that's my writing style.

    ---

Ranger Zor and I saw a Bidoof that was minding its business until it noticed us. “Beee-doof!” It exclaimed in surprise at our appearance.

Zor turned to me and asked, "Bidoof! Do you want to capture it?”

A Bidoof? I can't much decide on this one. It could be useful when it becomes a Bibarel. I guess I should try to catch it.

"Sure, I will," I said as I took out the Poke Ball of Luke, my Lucario. "Go, Lucario!"

The Lucario emerged from his Poke Ball and did a little battle cry.

"Lucario, use Metal Claw!" I said to Luke.

The Lucario ran fast to the Plump Mouse Pokemon to slash with his now-elongated claws that glowed into a silver hue that denoted the hardness of Steel-type attacks.

The Bidoof looked somewhat scared of the Trainers, its black little eyes looking from Zor’s face to Voltaire’s, then apprehensively sizing Abila up as a bigger, much more powerful Pokemon.

Zor backed off as Lucario was released from one of Voltaire’s Poke balls, giving a quick little cry before lowering its center of gravity, pushing its feet out on either side. The Bidoof squeaked in fear and backed away to the water’s edge, abandoning the log it was gnawing on and chittering nervously. Luke rushed forward, claws glowing with Steel-type energy, and the Bidoof reacted by curling in on itself. The claws slashed at the little rodent, making it squeal with pain and instinctively retaliate.

Turning about, the little beaver scooped some of the mud up in its paws and flung it right at Lucario’s face in one fluid movement. Luke yelped and staggered back, wiping the dirt from its eyes and shaking out its ears, thoroughly irritated. The Bidoof trembled but stood its ground, awaiting the next move from the bigger Pokemon.

The Plump Mouse Pokemon attacked the Lucario with Mud-Slap, causing dirt to obscure Luke's accuracy. Even though these moves might miss, I should make Luke attack more.

"Luke, use Ice Punch!" I quickly commanded the Aura Pokemon.

The Aura Pokemon would dash nearer to the Bidoof, with every step causing its closed fist freezing up and slamming the Plump Mouse Pokemon with an ice-cold punch. If ever the chances are good, the Bidoof would get frozen solid and unable to move.

After the Ice Punch, I said to Luke, "Good job! Now, use Aura Sphere!"

The Lucario would then concentrate fully and form a light blue form of aura energy and he would release it and shoot it to the Plump Mouse Pokemon.

Now, after the Aura Sphere attack, I should follow up the attack more, "Try to use ExtremeSpeed, then a Metal Claw!"

The Aura Pokemon would dash to the Bidoof so fast that the Lucario would be reduced to a blur and his feet would glow in a light blue glow. As the Aura Pokemon ran fast, his claws would grow long and glow in a silver light and would slash the enemy with steel power.

[Agh, again sorry for being so slow. I'm not usually this behind on posts, it just seems like the days are slipping from me faster than I thought >.< You are allowed to send me a PM or poke me if you see me on AIM. Sometimes I'm just forgetful and need a reminder. That being said, do you want to set up a day where we can get a bunch of posts in a row in? It seems you like immediate posting, and I don't mind sitting and doing several posts at once instead of spacing them out.]

The Bidoof was becoming more and more afraid of the strong, able-bodied Lucario, trembling and curling in on itself even further. The bipedal jackal-like Pokemon shot forward, icy energy surrounding its fist as it hurled a punch at the little beaver. The hit rammed true into its target, the Bidoof flying back from the force and shrieking in protest. It was beginning to get a bit angry, despite its shy demeanor. The wild ‘mon’s buttons were being systematically pressed, and now was the time for it to defend itself. Zor saw something click in the Bidoof’s expression as it fixed the Lucario with a steely gaze, trembling from the cold of the previous attack. With a cry it launched forward, buck teeth bared as it chomped down on Luke’s outstretched arm with all its little strength. Luke yelped and staggered back, paw slipping in the silty mess of mud on the banks. At the command of his Trainer, the Lucario began to form the Aura Sphere, a natural talent using his innate Aura abilities, and launched it at the irate beaver.

The Bidoof easily dodged the ball of energy, seeing as Luke’s aim was a bit off, and retaliated by launching its body and heabutting Luke’s midsection. The air rushed out of the Lucario’s lungs with a big whoosh. He wrapped his arms around his assaulted diaphragm while the Bidoof took a quick breather to relax. Enraged by the attacks, Luke began to see red and rushed in without thinking with a Close Combat, blindly flailing and punching at the irritating little rodent. It did, indeed, strike the Bidoof who squalled loudly with pain, but Lucario’s guard was down immediately afterwards--he took in huffs of air and snarled at Bidoof with satisfaction. Bidoof responded immediately with a decisive and reckless charge, looking tired himself. The Lucario wasn’t expecting this sudden move and he yipped in surprise more than pain, falling back on his rear and growling before getting back up. Luke looked ready to punch through walls, he was so angry... it seemed he was bent on destruction and wouldn’t take any other orders from his Trainer until he’d cooled off a bit.

OOC: Well, just try to be more fast. At June 3 on my place, I'll be having my classes again, which means I can only visit maybe once a week. By then, you may "slack off" as long as you can pass it before Saturday on my place.

    ---

With the Bidoof's actions that made Luke angry, I think it's time to use his anger to my advantage.

"Luke, use Nasty Plot!" I commanded, even though there might be a chance that he wouldn't follow due to his rage.

Luke would start thinking very dark thoughts. Accompanied by his rage, dark thoughts would fuel up his powers and a wickedly black aura would envelop him.

Now it's time for the real attack. "Luke, now use Dark Pulse!" I said to Luke, with the same doubts of him not obeying.

From the terribly black aura, it would be spilled in a pulse full of dark thoughts and ideas that can make the enemy flinch, depending on the opponent's focus. With this, the anger that he had could be steamed off off him. That's why I asked him of this move so that he would at least calm down.

    Ranger Makina Auran

OOC: Taking this over due to request. Also, keep in mind that when using moves the post quality definitely matters; using more than one move means that quality needed increases as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

    *~~~~~~~~~*

“Are any Rangers free at the moment? We have a slight problem.”

Makina, who had been going over her paperwork for what felt to be the thousandth time, looked up in response. Ever since the freelancer who normally helped her had decided to take over a Gym out of the blue, the Ranger's work appeared to have doubled in size. Needless to say, she was desperate for a break and a chance to actually do the more exciting parts of her job. “What's the issue?”

“We just received a phonecall asking for Zorayda,” the secretary replied. “Her Ninetales was found limping out of town, so a concerned citizen contacted the nearest Center and they called us in turn. She's currently escorting a Trainer in the Lakes, so we need someone to bring her back and take over the run.”

Viola is hurt? Zor isn't going to take this well, Makina remarked silently before nodding in response. “I'll head out there. Aria knows her Espeon fairly well, so we should be able to find them both quickly.” snagging her Ranger gear off a nearby rack, she added, “Just send the Trainer's info to my PDA, I'll read it in a bit.”

The secretary said nothing in reply, deciding that speed was needed more and quickly exited the room. Moments later her Gardevoir approached, trying to remain stoic but a hint of worry was visible on the Psychic Pokemon's face. <I take it we're leaving right away?>

“Right on the first try, Aria.” Taking one final look around to make sure she had everything needed, Makina finally turned towards her partner. “Are you able to locate Abila?”

Aria closed her eyes in concentration. <Easily. There's two other Pokemon close by as well as another human, so they're likely overseeing a battle.>

“Let's head out then, and hope they're not having too much trouble.”

    One Teleport later...

    “Luke, use Nasty Plot!”

“And that must be our Trainer,” Makina spoke lowly, hearing the nearby command faintly as their surroundings slowly came into focus. They appeared to be near one of the smaller lakes, where a bundle of sticks and twigs lay close by in the water. Currently, the owner of the makeshift dam was battling a Lucario, the bipedal Pokemon quickly identified by its blue coat and canine features. The former looked extremely angry about something though, and seemed to be ignoring orders.

“Luke, now use Dark Pulse!” the voice shouted out again. The Trainer appeared to be a boy, likely in his middle teens, and looked determined to capture the wild Pokemon he and his Lucario were deep in battle with.

Luke seemed all too happy to oblige, immediately shooting a burst of malevolent energy towards the small Normal-type. As the pulse hit Bidoof, it let off a high-pitched squeal in pain and involuntarily stepped back a couple feet.

Seeing that both Pokemon were not going to act for the moment, Makina walked over to where Zorayda was overseeing the battle and got the fellow Ranger's attention. “We just got a call from the Center near your home. Someone found Viola hurt, and she's currently resting there. I can take over here while you sort things out back home.” Taking a minute to see Zor safely off, as soon as both Ranger and Espeon vanished from sight Makina turned towards the nearby Trainer. “You're Voltaire, right? I'm Makina, and will be your Ranger for the time being.”

At this moment, Bidoof finally decided to react. Seeing that its opponent was currently not pulling his punches, the Wild Pokemon began to dig into the sand furiously. In mere seconds, the creature was fully underground.

The Plump Mouse Pokemon dug underground, which meant that this one will be using the move Dig. Dig is a powerful move, and as a super-effective Ground-type move, it could be dangerous for Lucario. There must be a way to levitate away from the ground and to evade the move.

Levitate? I remembered a great move to help in levitating, although this move wasn't really meant for levitation.

"Luke, use Psychic to make yourself levitate up to the sky!" I quickly commanded the Aura Pokemon before the Bidoof could unleash the move.

Luke focused and meditated to make the psychic energies flow all over his body and produce an artificial levitational power using telekinetic energies. Once the energies is ready for usage, his eyes opened and glowed into a blue light and caused himself to float all over the ground and most likely to prevent any further Ground-type attacks from affecting him. This could fail, since Pokemon like Lucario was not meant for these Psychic-type moves, but they have a great amount of special energy. Here is to me hoping this tactic could help him.

"Just try to continue floating, Luke!" I shouted to Lucario. "Once he shows up, release those Psychic energies and power up an Aura Sphere attack!"

Once the goals of the Psychic move have been accomplished, Luke would try and use the remaining Psychic energies and to amplify an Aura Sphere attack. Luke would concentrate his aura into a bluish ball that is full of great Fighting-type energy and a little bit of the scrap Psychic-type energy and once the sphere is big enough, Luke would shoot it through the Plump Mouse Pokemon and probably hit the Bidoof.

    *~~~~~~~~~*

Voltaire didn't respond to the Ranger's greeting; understandable, as he would have to think fast to find a way to avoid Bidoof's underground attack. “Luke, use Psychic to make you levitate up to the sky!” he called out quickly.

Luke appeared to have calmed down a bit, likely burning off some of his rage from the earlier Dark Pulse technique. Hearing his Trainer's command, the Lucario furrowed his brow in concentration as he tried to build up enough psychic power to lift his form off the ground. Amazingly enough, a light blue aura surrounded the Fighting-type and he began to hover a couple feet off the sand.

Makina silently watched the scene, amazed to see that the Lucario had pulled it off. She had known that the creatures were skilled in using an ability similar to most Psychic Pokemon, but to see one using a technique it was partially weak to was still impressive. Still, the aura was shaky at best and would likely fail soon if the Bidoof did not surface soon.

Voltaire appeared to have noticed his partner's unsteadiness as well. “Just try to continue floating, Luke! Once he shows up, release those Psychic energies and power up an Aura Sphere attack!”

Hearing the Trainer's choice of moves, along with seeing Luke's impatience earlier and the shakiness of his current move, Makina had doubts that the Lucario would be able to both hold his levitation along with using a similar move. If anything...

Before any other doubts could be taken into consideration, the rodent-like Pokemon rapidly jumped out of the sand and into the air below the hovering Lucario. In addition, the Bidoof's mouth was wide open and preparing to chomp down on anything in range.

Almost simultaneously, Luke readied his move as well. As soon as the Fighting-type had noticed a speck of brown fur appear, he attempted to charge straight into an Aura Sphere- and immediately fell like a rock onto the unsuspecting Bidoof. There was a surprised squeak from both Pokemon as the wild Pokemon was suddenly crushed by a large body and Luke's body was damaged by Bidoof's incisor-like teeth sinking down into his backside.

“That had to hurt,” Makina remarked, wincing a little in sympathy. “Bidoof and Rattata tend to sink their teeth into anything out of instinct, and Luke was in the worst spot. Lucario are tough though, so most of his pain will just be to his pride.”

Once both Pokemon had managed to break away from each other (Bidoof moving his jaw as if in pain, Luke rubbing his backside,) the fight was underway once more. Thankfully, Luke still had some energy charged up due to attempting to start the technique in the air, and shot off an orb of blue energy at the nearby wild Pokemon. The attack struck true, dealing serious damage to Bidoof and causing it to shudder.

While clearly injured, Bidoof wasn't down for the count just yet. The Plump Mouse Pokemon surrounded itself in a field of aquatic energy, and with a sharp cry it charged towards Luke.

OOC: Oh lol sorry. I forgot to "greet" the Ranger xDD. Also, I'm planning to catch the Pokemon here.

    ---

“That had to hurt,” Makina remarked, wincing a little in sympathy. “Bidoof and Rattata tend to sink their teeth into anything out of instinct, and Luke was in the worst spot. Lucario are tough though, so most of his pain will just be to his pride.”

I noticed the Ranger, which came recently. I did notice her, but the Bidoof and his Dig had no time for saying hellos.

"Oh, sorry for my rudeness. I'm Voltaire, and I'm the one who's been taken over my Ranger Zorayda a while ago," I greeted the new Ranger.

Returning to the scene, the Bidoof was preparing something that looked like a Water-type attack. I should think of a way to counter or evade the move.

"Luke, use Detect! Watch the enemy and try to evade the attacks," I said to Lucario as a way to counter the move.

Luke would watch his enemy intently, reading his every move so that the enemy's attacks could be evaded and miss. It's a concentration that could help in either evading or targeting.

If ever the Detect works and the Bidoof missed, I think it would be time to throw a Park Ball. The Park Ball is a Poke Ball with a safari-like design on its upper portion and is known for its durability if ever the Ball doesn't work. I took one from my bag. I readied my Park Ball and threw it to the Bidoof. Hopefully, the Park Ball is enough for it.

As Bidoof dashed towards its target, Voltaire called out his next command, “
Luke, use Detect! Watch the enemy and try to evade the attacks.” Either he had noticed that the wild Pokemon could likely not withstand another attack, or was simply trying to play it safe and avoid taking damage on his end.

Luke gave a short nod in response, holding his ground and switching to a more defensive stance. Detect could work in many different ways, but the move mostly involved watching the target to figure out what move they were using and dodge it in any way possible. Sure enough, it wasn't until Bidoof turned at the last second to slam the lower part of his body on his target that the Lucario nimbly sidestepped to avoid the attack.

It was at this moment that a Park Ball sailed into view, lobbing the Plump Mouse Pokemon on the head and transforming the creature into a red beam of light before sucking it into the device. The sphere wobbled feebly back and worth, as if the Pokemon inside was trying to break out. After a few moments, the Ball stilled and let off a soft pinging sound to confirm the capture.

“I'd say congratulations are in order,” Makina said, walking over to retrieve the Ball. “I'll take this for the meantime. Would you like to continue exploring right away, or want to rest for a moment?”

I'd say Lucario has his health sapped over his health from the battle with the Plump Mouse Pokemon, but I believe he can still move on with the adventures.

"I say we should continue exploring a bit more," I said to the Ranger. "Oh I remembered, Ranger Zor made me choose on where should we start looking for Pokemon, in this place or on the lakes. Could we go there for a change?"

“I say we should continue exploring a bit more,” Voltaire replied, taking a moment to look at his Lucario first to make sure he was still able to fight. “Oh, I remembered. Ranger Zor made me choose on where should we start looking for Pokemon: in this place or on the lakes. Could we go there for a change?”

Well, there is a dock located a couple lakes over to the west,” Makina said slowly, trying to remember just what Pokemon were located in that area. If memory served it was one of the freshwater lakes, and unless someone had failed to mention that another Trainer was being escorted around here it would be deserted. “There may be a spare fishing rod or two if you want to try catching something the old-fashioned way as well. If not we can take one of the boats out on the water.”

<If you're going by boat, I'll be heading back,> Aria said over the link, staring over at the Ranger.

I'll have Mila or Argent if things get out of hand, Makina replied in turn, giving a small shrug. It had been a while since she had given either the Milotic or Skarmory any exercise, so any choice that Voltaire made would not hinder the expedition in the least. For the time being, the current goal was to just towards the lake in question.

The walk along the sandy path was fairly uneventful; while a small pond they passed did ripple a little along the surface the movement ceased before either Ranger or Trainer could get a closer look. It was roughly ten minutes later before they finally reached the edge of a large lake, with a small shed nearby and a wooden dock reaching out into the water. There was a small boat bobbing in the water tied to the dock, ready for use whenever.

Here we are. If you want a rod, there should be a couple hanging in the shed,” Makina said to Voltaire, pointing to the small building. “Otherwise, we'll be heading out by boat.”

As the Ranger moved towards the dock, the loud sound of objects being knocked over could be heard. Someone, or something, had apparently found their way into the shed and was now blindly milling through something. Before either Ranger or Trainer could enter to investigate, a small blue amphibian slowly waddled out. Directly in front of the creature was what looked to be a small iron box, the Water-type moving the object along one kick at a time.

Looks like a Wooper decided to raid one of the tackle boxes,” Makina said, giving a small grin. Usually the boxes filled with bait were stored away on the highest shelf and out of sight. Whoever last used this particular one must have been careless and left it on the floor.

OOC: By my June 3, I won't be here daily. But I'll still continue this RP.

We reached a shed by the edge of a freshwater lake. Ranger Makina took me here before we head out to the lake for a chance to get a rod and fish for some Pokemon.

As we reached the shed, a loud bang was heard inside it. Before we checked out the cause of it, a Wooper exited from the shed and kicked out a box.

“Looks like a Wooper decided to raid one of the tackle boxes,” Makina said, giving a small grin.

I have the feeling this could initiate a battle, so I talked to the Ranger. "Hmm, if ever this one wants a fight, we should hide somewhere and be unseen. If ever it is interested at us, I should give this one Poke Doll. Once the Wooper is gone, I'll be getting the rods."

Despite Wooper's current fixation on the box, Voltaire wished to play it safe. “Hmm, if this one wants a fight, we should hide somewhere and be unseen. Once this Wooper is gone, I'll be getting the rods.”

Hiding from the distracted Water-type proved to be a simple enough task. While Wooper kept kicking the small metal container about, the group slowly edged towards the side of the shed while trying to avoid making any noise. Once they were safely in place, all that was left to do was wait. After a few more minutes of hearing the box being kicked about (along with a few vocal complaints from the wild Pokemon,) the sound eventually grew faint and ceased entirely.

<He's gone, and now we have a dented tackle box to show for it,> Aria said with a hint of humor. The natives were used to seeing a Ranger Pokemon or two walking about the area, so the Gardevoir had stood her ground about fifty feet away.

Remind me to ask around later so we can find out just who had left this on the ground, Makina replied, picking up the abused object. The last thing they needed was this incident to happen again with one of the stronger locals. If something like a Kingler or a Crawdaunt had found this prize, they would have destroyed the box and stolen all the bait within. Worse, if it kept happening they would have to put a stop to fishing overall until the issue was fixed. After taking a look around in the shed to make sure no other wild Pokemon were milling about, the Ranger waved over to Voltaire to go ahead and enter.

Once the rods had been found (thankfully untouched by the Wooper,) the group made their way to the dock. The lake was currently calm, with the water gently lapping across the wooden posts sticking out of the water. Once they walked past the boat moored by, something hopped out of the vessel to greet them.

The Pokemon was extremely round, looking as if it could roll about if it wished. Unlike the Spheal family though, this creature was more mouselike with large round ears and a long tail with a ball at the end. While most of its body was a dark blue, the creature's large belly was white and all of the tail save the end were jet black. Upon seeing the group, the Water-type's large black eyes shined with happiness and it called out a greeting.

“That Marill must have been waiting for us. Did you want one, by any chance?” Makina asked the Trainer.

OOc: If the Marill won't go away, I'll be using a Poke Doll.

    ---

As we reached the boats for us to ride along the lakes, a Marill jumped out from the insides of the boat and greeted us with a cheer.

“That Marill must have been waiting for us. Did you want one, by any chance?” Makina asked me.

"Hmm, I am not really interested for those. Let me call the Marill away. If not, I have a Poke Doll here and I could use it," I replied to the Ranger and I went nearer to the Marill. "Hey there, little fella. We were not here for you, but I'm sure you can find another sometime," I said to the Marill as friendly as I could muster to do so and petted its head.
