"Hey Slowking, is it true that Cobalion, the legendary Musketeer Pokemon, can fly?" Joe asked Slowking, who was slouching in the leather chair next to him. Slowking raised his eyebrow and started to think. Joe was surprised, Slowking never really stopped and thought about a question, because he knew mostly everything. 'Hang on wait, Cobalion can't fly, they're Steel and Fighting. Where did you get that from?

Joe clicked on the compute screen and dragged a window down and showed Slowking. It was a blog from on of the rangers, Leo. He had posted that he had managed to obtain the legendary Pokemon Cobalion in a world wide tournament, called 'Legend Defender'. Then Joe clicked on another tab and brought up another blog, this time it was Argent's. He had posted that he witnessed Cobalion and Leo flying across the Outer Heavens. Werid

Joe was about to close the window when Leo's Blog refreshed on itself. It normally did that when someone would post a new update. Joe scanned the page and read that Leo was looking for a ranger to take him through the Meteor Valley, in order to look for a Audino, the Hearing Pokémon.

Joe quickly replied and said that he would meet him outside the outpost at 10 of the clock. Joe glanced down at his watch and sighed. "Common Fat Arse, we have a run to go on," Joe said to Slowking. Slowking jumped off the chair and walked towards Joe. He grasped onto his hand and his red gem started to glow. Within seconds, Slowking and Joe had teleported to a remote area outside the Meteor Valley. "Now we wait," Joe said to Slowking, as he perched on a rock with a direct sight down the path.

He started to think whether Cobalion could actually fly.

“I guess we should be getting ready for you run, Shadow.” I said from across my office. Shadow just lifted his head and opened his left eye. “You still want to go don’t you?” Shadow barked twice, saying of course he wanted to go. I looked at him and just shook my head. He had always been with me since the first time I came into the park as a Trainer and has to every run I had been on. Shadow walked over to the wall of Pokeballs I had and pointed at two with his tail.

“You want to take your new friends with us?” I asked. We had gone to Deckbi recently and encounter two more Houndoom whom Shadow grew close two. Since then, they’ve been with me, hanging out with him. “Sure, I guess we can do that. Mindbender is busy with Alex on that run. Boy will she be mad when she finds out we left already.

I picked up the two Pokeballs and picked up a third from the top row. I was also going to take Cobalion with me again. I had heard rumors of poachers in Meteor Valley, if that were true, both him and I could stop them easily. I was positive the legendary Pokémon there could handle it, but just to be sure, I was taking him. Couldn’t hurt to be safe than sorry. Plus, he could scare all the unwanted Pokémon away easily, saving me the trouble.

I walked outside of the Rangers Headquarters and released my Pokémon. Two black large dogs emerged from their holding containers. Their names were Hellhound and Hex, they moved around Cobalion, the large, blue and grey Legendary Pokémon who I had named Pointblank. I jumped on top of him. Shadow, Hellhound, and Hex all moved around Pointblank as we all sped to Meteor Valley to meet with our Ranger, Diddy.

Once there, a man in his early twenties with a Slowking was there waiting for us. “Hey, I’m Leo.” I said, jumping off of Pointblank and shaking my Rangers hand. As you probably read from my file, I’m only here for Audino. I guess if something comes my way I’ll catch it as well. If you don’t mind, can we start already?” I pulled out my Pokeplayer and put in one of my two Audino Voice Disks. The sound of an Audino came out and scattered across the area. I probably would have more luck inside the area rather than using it outside, but since I had two, I was using it wherever I could.

Joe glanced up and noticed four blurry images slowly making its way towards him. As they got closer, Joe noticed that three of the images were exactly the same. Within minutes, Joe recognized the images and walked forward to greet them. It was Leo, one of the park elites, with his Houndoom's. I looked up towards Leo, who was riding Cobalion, then glanced towards Slowking.

"I guess he is not flying today," Joe murmured to Slowking.

“Hey, I’m Leo.” Leo said, jumping off of Cobalion and shaking Joe's hand. "As you probably read from my file, I’m only here for Audino. I guess if something comes my way I’ll catch it as well. If you don’t mind, can we start already?”

Before Joe could reply, Leo removed a large cassette player from his rucksack and placed it on the ground. Then he grabbed a small light pink disc from his rucksack and placed it in the player. A feint cry echoed from the player, hoping to be heard by a nearby Audino.

Joe prompted Leo forward, and headed down a small trail parallel to the caves of Meteor Valley. Joe remembered reading that Audino's were Forest Pokemon, and were not usually found in caves. They continued to walk, it was a lovely warm day, perfect for a good hike. Suddenly Joe noticed a bush to their right shake, and braced himself. A small cub Pokemon leaped out from the bush and snarled towards the group. Poochyenas were territorial Pokemon, and didn't like it when passers by would enter their territory.

"Ahh Leo, would you like to battle this Poochyena?" Joe asked Leo.

We continuted walking moments after I played my voice disk. I kept my eyes peered for any sign of the small, fat, pink Pokemon. So far, I couldn't see anything. Perhaps it was because I had just started this run and all the Audino were somewhere farther in. If that was the case, then I wasn't going to expect to see one until at least halfway through my run, which was a little disappointing. Chances are that I probably won't see one at all. When I heard rustling in the bushes near us, I quickly began excited. When a small Poochyena popped out, all that excitment just left my body.

"Ahh Leo, would you like to battle this Poochyena?" Joe asked.

"No," I said, sounding slightly more annoyed than I had intended too. I jumped back onto Pointblank's back. Shadow and his group were right behind me. I pulled out a Pokedoll and tossed it at Poochyena. Then, I pressed play again on my voice disk. I just hoped that my voice disk would work, and if it wasn't going to work yet, that at least something worthwhile would show up instead of stuff I didn't want.

"No," Leo said, he sounded annoyed. He had been excited since setting off, hoping for a chance to encounter an Audino. He leaped off his Cobalion and withdrew a small pink Pokedoll from his bag. He threw the Pokedoll towards Poochyena and watched as Poochyena torn it apart. The Cub Pokemon dragged the remains of the doll towards the bush it came from. He pressed the bottom on the player, producing the same high pitched noise as before.

"Alright, I think we should carry on down the path, if I remember correctly there is a clearing ahead where rare Pokemon come to feed. Hopefully we may encounter Audino," Joe said to Leo.

After five minutes of walking down the trail, the group entered a large clearing in the woods. There was a small rock in the middle, almost like the one in Lion King when they raise Simba into the sky. Joe walked across to the stone and touched it. It was hot. Something is not right

Suddenly out of the bushes, a gray dog like Pokemon leaped towards Joe. It knocked Joe out cold.

Joe! Urgh that Pokemon is Absol, Disaster Pokémon. Since Joe is out cold, I guess I will be your ranger for the time being. Do you want to battle it?

About five minutes later, we came across a clearing in the woods. We saw a rock in the center, and judging by the steam coming off of it, I could tell it was hot. Then, out of no where, a large, dark grey and white dog jumped out of the bushes and slammed into my Ranger. I looked at Joe who was out cold, and then turned my gaze towards Absol.

"Joe! Urgh that Pokemon is Absol, Disaster Pokémon. Since Joe is out cold, I guess I will be your ranger for the time being. Do you want to battle it?" Joe's Slowking asked telepathically.

"Hmm. No, I don't. I already have an Absol, and he is much more behaved than this one. I think it's best if I didn't battle him and we took care of Joe for now." I said. I pulled out a Pokedoll and tossed it at Absol. "Watch were you are going next time." I pressed play again on the voice disk and walked over towards Joe. "What should we do? I could have him ride on Pointblank until he wakes if you want?" I asked Slowking. Since Slowking was his partner, I would do whatever he asked me to do to help out.​

"Hmm. No, I don't. I already have an Absol, and he is much more behaved than this one. I think it's best if I didn't battle him and we took care of Joe for now." Leo said. He pulled out another Pokedoll from his bag and cursed the wild Disaster Pokemon. Absol grabbed the Pokedoll by its ears and carried it back to the bushes.

Leo turned to Slowking and asked, "What should we do? I could have him ride on Pointblank until he wakes if you want?" Slowking thought for a bit, wondering what would be the best option. After several minutes of thinking, he turned to Leo and said, "Sounds like a good idea, I will continue on with the run in place of Joe"

After safely placing Joe on Pointblank's back, Slowking lead Leo and his pack of Houndoom's further in woods. Slowking was nervous, he had never took a run. What happened if he lead them out of the area and next thing they were in the Abandon PowerPlant. As Slowking was worrying under his breath, a thick fog descended. It was hard to see anything in this fog, your vision was limited. Slowking had an idea and produced a bright light from his gem, glued to his crown. The light penetrated the fog, creating a path.

"... Who dares walks these parts?"

Slowking slowly glanced around wondering where the voice was coming from. It was deep and mysterious, certainly a voice you don't hear often. Slowking cleared his throat and replied out loud, "I am Slowking, comrade of Joe, who is a National Park Ranger. We are passing by to try and find an Audino, who is rumored to be living in these parts,"


".... Ahhh, National Park Staff, I remember an encounter with your kind. It was with a person called Ataro, and he had a companion called Cameron. I have no recollection of seeing any Audino's around here."


The fog slowly faded and a figure appeared resting against an old oak tree. Slowking took a step forward and saw a black, shadow-like creature. It had a small head with a white fog-like ghostly substance billowing from its head covering one of its bright blue eyes, and also had a red spiky growth around its neck.


Slowking remembed reading a small passage written by Ataro, about his trip to Meteor Valley. 'Darkrai is rumored to be an extremely evil Pokemon. A Pokemon so evil that it is capable of causing people to have unending nightmares; as it is so bad that some people are even rumored to have never ever woken up since.'

Slowking gulped and turned to Leo and asked, "Want to talk to it or take a picture?"

"Sounds like a good idea, I will continue on with the run in place of Joe" Slowking said. I nodded, and let him lead the way. It took a while to get Joe onto Pointblanks pack, but then Pointblank just opened his mouth and gently grabbed Joe's shirt with his teeth and placed him on his back. Now that that was taken care of, it was time to move on. Slowking moved ahead of me, leading out of the small forest. I kind of wanted to stay there to see if any more Audino were in the area, but I didn't want to waste any time. Besides, I was quite sure Slowking knew what he was doing.

The farther we walked, the thicker the fog got. I made sure to stay close to Slowking. I didn't want to get lost here, or I didn't want him to get lost here. I was pretty sure Pointblank could easily get us out of here, but that was only if we stuck close to each other and didn't get lost.

"... Who dares walks these parts?" A deep, sinister voice said from what sounded to be all around us.

"I am Slowking, comrade of Joe, who is a National Park Ranger. We are passing by to try and find an Audino, who is rumored to be living in these parts,"

"Yes, I remember that incident. Cameron speaks highly of you Darkrai. Thanks for helping him find Mindbender from that Golett, who is doing great by the way." I pulled out my camera and snapped a picture of Darkrai. "I'm glad all those rumors about you aren't true." I continued to let my voice disk play, hoping an Audino would come by soon. ​

Ivy moved the branches back carefully as they tried to snag her long red hair. Haji had a much easier time traveling, being much shorter than she was. Together they made their way through the trees of Meteor Valley, trying to find Leo and Joe. Leo was out searching for Pokémon again, but something had happened to cause Joe to pass out. Rather than drag him around through the underbrush, Leo had called her to come take over so the other Ranger could get some rest.

She came out of the bushes to see Leo snapping a picture of Darkrai. To her surprise, Cobalion was standing next to the man as well. The Legend must be spending time with them, because suspended on his back was the unconscious Joe.

“Hey, Leo,” she said as Darkrai departed. “I'm here to take over so Joe can go get rest.” Then she turned to Joe's Slowking. “You got it from here?” she asked him.

The pink, shelled Pokémon nodded, and with a hum of energy, he touched Joe's arm and warped them away. Hopefully the other Ranger would feel better soon.

“Ready to go?” she asked Leo then, seeing him press play on his Poképlayer. The sound of an Audino cried out, and when he was ready, they set off.

It had been a while since they were here. She could tell Haji was enjoying it. The Espeon's ears stayed alert, and his tail swished back and forth. Ivy felt his energy reaching out and mingling with the spots in the air, leftover from so many Psychic and Ghost-type Pokémon living here.

Soon the bushes rustled. All of them stopped, and Ivy saw a hint of pink-colored skin. Hopeful that this was what Leo was looking for, they waited until it popped out. However, it turned out to be nothing more than a little Cleffa with dark-tipped ears.

“Any interest in that one?” she asked.

“Hey, Leo, I'm here to take over so Joe can go get rest. Ready to go?” she asked me.

"Yeah, thanks for coming so quickly, wasn't expecting you so soon." I watched Slowking teleport Joe away, then I turned back to my Pokeplay and pressed play again. I looked around searching for any signs of movement and listened for any cries that matched the one coming from my voice disk. As we walked down the path, I heard a small rustle in the grass and a small pink head and almost cried out happily, but then I saw it was just a dumb Cleffa.

“Any interest in that one?” she asked me.

"Hmm. Na, not at the moment. Let's just keep going." I said, tossing a Cleffa-shaped doll at the small star shaped Pokemon. Then I pressed play again on my voice disk, hoping I'd get lucky soon. My first voice disk was running out of juice, or whatever it ran on, I was just glad I brought two instead of one. Made finding Audino a whole lot easier.

“Hmm. Na, not at the moment. Let's just keep going,” Leo said in response to her question, tossing a Pokédoll at the wild.

If she remembered correctly, Leo's family members were collectors, so they usually went on runs looking for just specific Pokémon. It made the goal of a run easier, but somewhat monotonous if you didn't know what to expect. Ivy had been on a few runs like this before, where the object was speed instead of getting as many rare ones as you could.

The disk in the player clicked off as it gave out one more cry, and she hoped what he was looking for would show up. She wasn't sure if he had more disks or not. She waited a moment before moving on, just so the sound had a chance to echo through the area. If there was an Audino around here, she wanted it to hear and respond.

Then they continued on, edging along the trees in the open grass. It was much easier to travel outside of them. The only real reason to go through them was if the Trainer wanted to venture into the caves. The branches kept snapping though, making her senses go on edge. She had the feeling something was following them for the longest time when she saw a brush of darkness on the edge of her vision. She turned and looked carefully, and soon a Pokémon appeared.

A dark sheet poked its head out from behind a tree trunk, looking something like a darker version of the generic Halloween costume some kids wore. This one had a spike on top of its head though, with yellow and blue eyes that stuck out against the dark background. It came down to hover at the lower tree line, staring at them intently.

A small black Ghost Pokemon that looked like a little hand puppet. The puppet stared at us with yellow and blue eyes as it moved closer towards us. “Looking for a Shuppet?” Winter asked. I just shook my head.

"Nope, not looking for one of these Pokemon." I said, pulling out a Pokedoll and another Voice Disk. It was another Audino Voice Disk. I had to use another since whatever was powering the last one I had just ran out. I thought it was pretty stupid to have a disk run out of something, just didn't make sense. I guess I would never understand these things, though, Camreon and I sure had a vast collection of these disks. Luckily, we had two Audino ones, I was just going to have to get lucky in one of these voice disks working.

"Can we move on? I want to find something more interesting." I said.

“Nope, not looking for one of those Pokémon,” he said, pulling out another Pokédoll for this one. He also took out another voice disk, and Ivy watched as he set it up and pressed play. Another call of Audino rang out. It was nice to see that he was prepared at least. He was a Ranger; he knew the success rates of these things.

“Can we move on? I want to find something more interesting.”

She nodded and they moved on down the path, or what they could see of it rather. The road had angled into the long grass, and the reedy strings caught on their clothes and wrapped around their shoes. She knew there was a pond somewhere up ahead, and something interesting would hopefully be by it. It was on the other end of the Valley though, so they had some terrain to cross before reaching it.

They came to a point where the grasses were cleared away in a sort of circle. There were a few trees and several large rocks, and a form on top of one caught her eye. The sun was streaming down onto a pink body with pointy ears and a star-like tail. The Pokémon looked like it was sun tanning up on the rock. Haji liked to do that sometimes.

“There's a Clefable up there. Do you wanna battle it or maybe take a picture?”

IC: As we walked down some path, I kept my eyes peeled for Audino. So far though, not only could I not find Audino, but I haven't found anything worth catching yet. I was pretty disappointed, but I couldn't let that get to me. I still had a bit of energy left in my new voice disk, so there was still a chance. If I ran out of energy on my disk, then I would probably leave.

“There's a Clefable up there. Do you wanna battle it or maybe take a picture?” Ivy asked. I looked up and just shrugged. I pulled out my camera and quickly snapped a photo of Clefable. I didn't really like Clefable, no matter how rare they were, I wasn't interested in capturing it. I actually used to have a Clefable, but I sent him to one of my friends to help out in his lab. I hadn't really thought of getting another one.

"Alright, let's go somewhere else now." I said, knowing that there wasn't anything interesting on this path.

Leo snapped a picture, not looking too interested in what was going on. She understood the frustration when you were looking for something you couldn't find. Today was just not an Audino day she supposed. He was here all the time anyway, so it wouldn't take much to just grab another Ranger and go out a different day to look if his disks failed to bring the Pokémon he wanted.

They continued on after that, heading back into the tall grasses. There was a slight breeze that rattled them, and the air currents carried the crisp feel of Fall. The Valley was one of the areas that got affected a little bit by the change of seasons. It was just a subtle change in temperature through, as anything major would disrupt the natural environment of the Pokémon in this area. Some places, like Oktori and Deckbi, didn't change at all really.

They had to watch their step as they traveled. She stumbled once but didn't fall, and then Haji took care to tell her about the potholes that were waiting to trip them. He was smaller, so it was a bit easier for him to move around in the underbrush. The grasses crackled as they walked, sounding something like straw, and the whole thing reminded her of Halloween. That was Haxbat and Candle's favorite holiday.

Then, a witches had rose out of the brush ahead. At first she thought her mind was playing tricks on her, and she shook her head and blinked her eyes a few times. It was still there though, rising up until a face was visible. The purple and black Mismagius floated on top of the rusty foliage, staring at them like it wanted something.

“It'd be hard to battle in this, but any interest in a Mismagius?”

As we walked down the path, we came across another Pokemon. It was a Mismagius. I didn't want to waste my time battling it or capturing it. I already had a Mismagius, and I hardly used it. I was going to trade it to a friend once they had the Pokemon I wanted, and I wasn't too interested in getting another one. I now wished I had used a Ghost repellant instead of a Psychic one. There is more Psychic type Pokemon that I wanted than Ghost types. Would have been a lot better for me to have done that instead. I was just going to have to deal with it now. Part of me was ready to leave, but I was going to stay at least until my voice disk ended.

“It'd be hard to battle in this, but any interest in a Mismagius?” She asked.

"Yeah, probably would, but no. No interest in one at all." I said. I pulled out a Pokedoll and threw it at Mismagius. My Pokeplayer continued to play, my luck couldn't be all that bad. One would come soon.

Leo agreed that a battle here would be pretty difficult and that he didn't want a Mismagius. The two probably weren't connected, as he was only looking for that one specific Pokémon.

The other Ranger pulled out another doll and tossed it over the dry grass somewhere beyond. The ghost took sight of it immediately, watching with its eyes as the doll landed with a thud some place out of sight. It went after it, floating along the top of the grass until it sank out of sight. There was only a slight rustling sound left behind. Those dolls sure did the trick.

Leo's player sounded again, and the call of Audino weaved through the grass as they traveled through it. Soon they arrived at the pond, and the water stretched out farther than she remembered, spanning out to the tree line that edged the caves on all three sides. It had been a long time since she had been here.

A couple trees and rocks dotted the shore, which was a soft loamy sand that was less threaded with grass the closer to the water it went. The pond wasn't quite like the areas at the Lakes, since this one was shaded a little darker with the colors of Fall, and there was a thin, faint mist lining the south side.

Then, a light snapping of bark drew her attention to the right. A floppy pink and cream ear with a curl on it was sticking out from behind one of the trees, and a sharp, blue eye peeked every couple of seconds to look at them. The creature waved tentatively at them, coming out a little bit. The whole top of its head was split half pink and half cream, and it looked like it was wearing a pink sport jacket.

Finally, the Pokémon Leo was looking for had shown up. “I probably don't have to ask, but are you ready to battle?”

We arrived at a small pond, one that I hadn’t seen before at Meteor Valley. I had seen a small lake here with a large waterfall crashing down that had a secret entrance. Ranger Ataro and I had discovered that cave entrance when Mindbender was kidnapped by a Golett. It was all fun and interesting, but scary at the same time because I didn’t know what was going to happen to her. We ended up finding her at the end of the cave safe and sound after defeating and capturing the Golett. That was the last time I had been to Meteor Valley, over four months ago. I didn’t want to bring her here again because I didn’t want to put her through that or bring back any memories of it. I played my Pokeplayer again, hearing the sound echo all around us. I didn’t think I was going to find it, because I didn’t think we were in the right location, but sure enough, one came towards us. I was pretty shocked and excited all mixed together. Honestly, I hadn’t expected one to come to be on this run. I was expecting to have to come back another day and try finding one again. Luckily for me, that wasn’t going to be needed. The bipedal, blue-eyed, pink-and-cream-colored Pokémon stared at us. She was wiggling her floppy ears, listening for something. It looked like she had a pink coat on, but I figured that was part of her skin. She shook her small bushy tail from side to side.

“I probably don't have to ask, but are you ready to battle?” She asked. It always made me laugh when they asked that. I know it was park regulations and stuff, but obviously I wanted to battle it. I myself wondered why I bothered asking Trainers that when I knew what they wanted. That didn’t matter though, what mattered was the battle here that was about to take place. I had to figure out which Houndoom I was going to use. I knew a bit about Audino, but not much, so I pulled out my Pokedex.

Audino, the Hearing Pokémon. Audino are about three to four feet tall and weigh between sixty to ninety pounds. Its auditory sense is astounding. It has a radar-like ability to understand its surrounding through slight sounds. It touches others with the feelers on its ears, using the sound of their heartbeats to tell how they are feeling.

“Hmph, well that isn’t very useful.” I grumbled. “Oh well. Shadow, you’re up. We are going to start this off with Taunt, then switch into Inferno when she gets close enough. Since this is a difficult move to land, we will have a backup plan ready. If that misses then just use Sludge Bomb. If it hits, don’t use Sludge Bomb, we’ll use that later. Remember, watch yourself out there. I don’t even know what moves it knows, stupid Pokedex won’t tell me.” Shadow nodded in agreement, he knew to be careful in this battle.

I wanted him to use Taunt for two reasons. One, I wanted Audino to use attacking moves, not non-attacking moves like Sing or whatever it knew that wasn’t attacking, and two, I wanted her to come charge at us so that she was closer to use and Inferno had a better chance of hitting. When He taunted another Pokémon, usually all he did was make stupid, annoying faces at his opponent. This move worked better on Fighting, Rock, or Ground type Pokémon because most angered pretty easily. Unfortunately, they were all Shadow’s weakness.

When Shadow did his Taunt move, I was hoping Audino would come in with an attacking move. When he did, Shadow would use Inferno.

Shadow would open his mouth, revealing his razor sharp teeth, and two shades of blue flames would appear in between his mouth. It was a baby blue color and a dark blue color. Then he aimed it at the opponent and arched his head back. He’d then launched the fire above his head and the flames begin spiraling in the air. Then he would launch the light blue stream of fire with dark blue rings of fire around it towards Audino. If it hit, it would burn her. If not, then I’d have to hope that Sludge Bomb hits.

If that missed, he’d use Sludge Bomb. It was a brown sludge that exploded when it made contact. Sometimes it caused the one who got hit with it to be badly poisoned.

Ranger Ivy Frost

Leo took out his Pokédex in response, trying to find out some useful information that would help him plan the battle and decide which partner he was going to use. If she remembered correctly from the update on her phone, he had brought three of his Houndoom with him. She wasn't surprised to see Shadow, as he was always with the other Ranger, but she wondered why he brought the others.

He grumbled as he apparently didn't find anything useful in the information device. He called on Shadow anyway, and she knew the Houndoom would be just fine. He was one of Leo's oldest partners, and he had plenty of battling experience. There were plenty of techniques he could use to successfully capture this Pokémon.

“Shadow, you're up,” he called. “We are going to start this off with Taunt, and then switch into Inferno when she gets close enough.” Inferno was a very powerful move, but it had the tendency to be really inaccurate. Leo knew this though, and told Shadow to use Sludge Bomb in the event that Inferno failed.

It was probably smart to stick with long range attacks until they figured out what Audino could do. Since it was a Normal-type, it probably had a ton of tricks up its sleeves. Taunt was smart for that reason too. Audino was known at the Hearing Pokémon, and for a long time Ivy thought that had just been something that was wrote down wrong, thinking 'healing' fit much better due to the support moves it knew. It used its ears much like a doctor used a stethoscope though, so she supposed it made sense.

The Houndoom nodded and got ready, warping his face into many different versions in order to provoke the pink wild Pokémon. His tongue lolled out, and his eyes blinked and swirled. Ivy watched as the Audino started to frown as it moved out from behind the tree and near the water, seemingly annoyed at the faces. She knew then that it had taken affect.

Shadow started his fire attack next, opening his mouth to reveal a maw full of flames. He arched his head back and released his technique, and a fire storm formed in the air, crashing toward their target. The healer wasn't motionless though, knowing what danger the fire held. The water behind it began to stir, swirling and churning from the pond. Then with a yell, the waves came to its call, and the water cascaded over the bank and toward Shadow, sweeping him back. The water drenched Audino, covering it in a watery layer as the fire tired to burn it.

The water was enough to protect it mostly, though. When the attacks died down, Ivy could see that Audino had only gotten hurt a little bit, and the intense burn that Inferno often provided wasn't there. It wasn't done though, because Ivy spotted sparks threading between its arms, getting ready to hit Shadow with a Thunderbolt. Since he was now wet, electricity would be conducted a lot better...

Shadow preformed Inferno perfectly, but Audino managed to stop the burning effect that almost always came off from Inferno. Although, that was the main reason I had used it, I was at least glad it did some damage. Audino wasn’t holding back though, it stopped the burning aftereffect by using Surf. Now Shadow and pretty much the whole battlefield were wet. At first, I didn’t see a problem with that, but when Audino began charging an electrical attack, I knew that was going to be trouble. With Shadow drenched in water, I knew the Electric attack would hurt more.

I was going to have to find a way to make that attack do less than it normally would to save him from getting hurt. What exactly could I do though? This Audino may not know any physical moves, but the special moves it knew were a problem… especially since she was using them in combos. That was going to be trouble if she continued to battle like that. I had to admit though; I liked the way she battled. It sure made the battle a lot more interesting. At least we were getting some action before leaving this run. I wasn’t sure why, but Audino didn’t seem like a fighter to me, which is probably why this surprised me so much.

“Alright Shadow, quick, use Flamethrower towards the ground, and then use Double Team. Since burning it didn’t work, we’ll try poisoning it. Use Sludge Bomb.” I called out. My plan was simple. Shadow would engulf himself in flames so that Audino wouldn’t be able to see him. That wasn’t the only reason I was using it. If he couldn’t use Double Team for some reason, at least he would be dry and the Thunderbolt attack wouldn’t do much damage to him. If Double Team did work, he’d have a hard time figuring out which was the real Shadow. Sludge Bomb was just to do a bit of damage and perhaps put a status on the Normal type.

Shadow immediately began sending red hot flames towards the ground directly underneath him. It wouldn’t take long for them to quickly engulf him. That would more than likely dry him off completely, and since he was a fire type, he wouldn’t take any damage or get burned. While he was hidden in the flames, he would quickly form several clones of himself and circle the Audino. That would do at least one of two things. One, it confuse the Audino and make her miss, or two would at least buy us some time to get Sludge Bomb up and launched towards Audino.

Sludge Bomb was just a brown sludge that exploded when it made contact. Which sometimes caused the one who got hit with it to be badly poisoned more of a bonus to me. I know Audino could hear things well, but since all the clones could pretty much moved and breathed in sync, it was going to be hard to tell which was real. One thing that the Pokedex told me about Audino worried me a bit though. If that was what Audino was going to do here then this whole thing could fail. That wasn’t something I wanted, but there wasn’t anything I could do now. Something I wasn’t sure of was if Shadow’s clones had heartbeats. If they didn’t then Audino could easily tell which was real. If that was the case, I was going to have to hope that Shadow attacked before she did. At least then I will be satisfied.
