    It was an uneventful day in the office. Joe lay back in his chair and stared out of the window. He watched a small flock of Pidgey flutter past and then land on the grass and bounce towards a piece of bread that was left over from lunch. One of the Pidgey's picked it up and bounced back to the group and dropped it on the ground. From then on Joe couldn't see what was happening because the Pidgey's were in his way.

    Joe peered out of his office and looked into the hall way, it was dead as a cemetery. It looked like he was the only person in the building. Then Maddison walked by holding a small file with small red words reading, 'Trainer _____ ' Joe couldn't tell who was the trainer and then suddenly Maddison said, "Anyone in here interested on going on a run?"

    "Sure, where's it going?" Joe asked in a high pitch tone. He hated when that happened, his voice would randomly change pitch.

    "Outer Heavens," She replied looked deeper into Joe's eyes. Most of the male rangers had a thing for Maddison, Joe didn't quiet understand why thou.

    Then Joe heard a sound in the background and before to long, James bundled his way into the office and belted out loud, "Did you say Outer Heavens?"

    Maddison looked quiet shocked at his entry and murmured an answer back, "Yeah, the Trainer is looking for some rare Flying types,"

    James then quickly dived for Maddison's hand and snatched the file from her hand. Joe was about to take before he noticed James getting in the position ready to dive.

    He can have it, I am sure there are other runs

    Joe watched as James strolled out the office clutching to the file of paper. Joe smiled and looked back up at Maddison and asked, "Is there anymore runs going?"

    She looked down into her briefcase and sorted through all her lost pieces of paper. Then suddenly she emerged from her briefcase and placed a small crunched up file on Joe's desk. As she bent across the desk, Joe suddenly noticed why all the male ranger have this obsession over her.

    "Thanks Maddison, Wow a Botanic Garden job, interesting," Joe said as he stood up and grabbed his PokeBalls. With his hand clutched to his file he walked out of the building.

    The warm summers breeze fly by, the heat of the sun radiating down on the top of Joe's head. He sat besides a long fence next to the buggies, one of the forms of transportation. He looked ahead and waited for his trainer to arrive.

    OOC: Kk, here goes, please tell me where I go wrong... :)

    ~-~

    I frowned as I waited outside of a small wooden hut, waiting for my ranger to arrive. A small wind picked up, blowing my loose hair over my face, the sun beaming down intensely. The wooden panels of the hut felt hot underneath my shirt. My gaze was steadily moving back and forth across the small clearing in which the hut resided. The clearing was almost empty, save the hut, a small wooden sign, and a few rocks and flowers dotted around the grassy landscape; the rough thicket surrounding the clearing bearing a noticeable difference to the serenity of the clearing.

    The soft cry of a Kricketune slowly snaked its way through the clearing, perking my hearing. Ugh, Kricketune again. So annoying, I thought, wincing as the cry grew louder. I absolutely hated Kricketune. I used to live near a forest, and that cry would echo through the cold night air. My dreams were haunted by those cries. I shivered and quickly started looking around, trying to find the source of the noise. I don’t care whether if I’m in the National Park or not, I want to hurt that damn Kricketune...

    I pulled a small red and white capsule out of my pocket, and prepared to through it in the air. Thoughts rushing through my head, I threw my arm up, before stopping suddenly, as a single thought isolated itself in my mind, Wait, Kricketune are in the forest. I’m in the forest...

    I pocketed my PokéBall and picked up a small backpack off of the ground next to me. I searched through the bag, and pulled out a small, folded sheet of paper. I read the application to meet my ranger, “Meet your ranger, ‘Ranger Joe’, outside of the Ranger Station, to accompany you on an expedition to the Botanic Gardens.” My brow furrowed as I read the last few words, and the anger started creeping into my mind. I slowly walked towards the wooden sign, which had the words, ‘THE WOODS”, etched into the woodwork. I let out a small scream and kicked a nearby rock, realising my idiocy. I was in the wrong part of the National Park.

    I threw my backpack back over my shoulder and pulled another PokéBall out of my pocket, this time a dark green ball covered in lighter green spots. “Come on out, Millie! I need your help!” I called, as I threw the Dusk Ball into the air. The ball split open, and Millie materialised in a bright flash of light. “Buzz!” Millie cried, extending her wings. I could imagine her pleasure of being out of that cramped Dusk Ball. I caught the descending Dusk Ball in the palm of my hand, before pocketing it, and approaching the Bone Vulture Pokémon standing in front of me.

    “Millie, I need a favour of you, if you don’t mind. I need to get over to the main Ranger Station, to meet up with Ranger Joe. The Station is just to the west of here, can you do that, Millie?” The loyal Mandibuzz cried in agreement, before launching herself into a hover just above my head. She gently gripped my shoulders in her talons, and flew up. She started flying west, in the direction of the Ranger Station, keeping at a steady speed. Hanging from Millie’s talons wasn’t the most comfortable method of travel, but I knew I was safe, and it was more exhilarating than riding on the top of a Bird Pokémon.

    After what seemed to be a really short time in the air, the Ranger Station was in sight, and I could just make out a figure leaning against a fence, next to a few buggies. He appeared to be waiting for someone, and as we got closer, I recognised him as a ranger. “Millie, would you pull up down there, in front of that ranger, please?” I asked, pointing towards the figure. The Mandibuzz slowly lowered herself out of the air, making sure to stay clear of the trees, as my fragile body was still hanging from her claws. She gently placed me on the ground just in front of the ranger, before perching herself gracefully on top of one of the buggies, craning her neck to get a better look at a Swellow that had landed in a tree somewhere in the distance. “Thanks Millie, great job,” I complimented, before turning my attention to the ranger. “Uhm, my name’s Brayden, I’m looking for, uh, a Ranger Joe? Would that be you?”

    “Uhm, my name’s Brayden, I’m looking for, uh, a Ranger Joe? Would that be you?” asked the Young Trainer.

    Joe looked up at the trainer and smiled. "I am Ranger Joe, but you can call me Joe. So if you would follow me, we will be taking the Buggies because Botanic Gardens is not that far from here, and I got my Buggy License"

    Joe walked over to the Buggy's and hoped into one. He grabbed the key from his pocket and ignited the ignition. The sound of the motor spinning around like a fan excited Joe. He quickly reversed from the buggy park and sped towards the Botanic Gardens.

    After a refreshing buggy ride, Brayden and Joe finally arrived at the checkpoint for Botanic Gardens. Joe quickly leaped out of the vehicle and looked around at the wonderful wildlife that live in these grounds. Joe looked ahead and took one step forward before returning it. He looked below his foot and noticed a small mushroom like Pokemon.

    Joe whipped out his PokeDex and scanned the Pokemon.

    Shroomish, the Mushroom Pokémon. Shroomish is mild tempered and inhabits piles of rotting leaves inside of forests.

    I wonder why it out all the way out here?

    Joe turned to Brayden and asked, "Do you want to capture this Shroomish?"

    The ranger looked up at me as I introduced myself, and gave me a warm-hearted smile, and introduced himself in return, “I am Ranger Joe, but you can call me Joe. So if you would follow me, we will be taking the Buggies because Botanic Gardens is not that far from here, and I got my Buggy License.”

    My ranger turned on his heel, and walked towards one of the buggies. Millie was still perched on top of one of the other buggies, so I called her over, and she landed herself cautiously on my head. She bent her long neck down and looked directly into my eyes, with a slightly quizzical look covering her angular face. “Millie, this ranger seems friendly enough, he seems capable too, what do you think?”

    I trusted my Pokémon more than I trusted any human, but Millie was special to me. Not just her, but Lizzie too. Both she and Lizzie had saved my life before, and I talked to them about everything. It was only natural to me that I brought them both along for this expedition; it was only right that we share this experience together.

    Millie, in response to my question, squawked quietly, and gently licked the side of my face. I gently pet her soft, leathery head, and whispered a quiet, “Thank you,” before pulling her Dusk Ball out of my pocket, pressing the button, and returning her inside the green capsule. I pocketed my ball and followed my ranger towards one of the nearby buggies, where he was waiting. I clambered inside, not bothering to clip the seat-belt. Next to me, Joe pulled a set of car keys out of his pocket and put them in the ignition, and turned. As the engine roared to life, Joe’s face lit up in excitement, and I quickly buckled my seat-belt. Not a moment too soon either, as Joe pushed down on the accelerator, and we went flying off.

    Before long, we were passing through a large, open canyon, surrounded by a thick forest. The grass around the area was tall, coming above the wheels of the buggy. There were flowers, weeds, and different sized rocks scattered roughly throughout the area, and the whole valley looked terribly unkempt. I could see two little Poochyena pups playing together, under the watchful eye of their mother, and I smiled at the sight. I just wish I had brought a camera.

    We quickly arrived in the Botanic Gardens, without any incident. As we pulled up to the outpost, I gazed around my new surroundings, amazed. What I saw amazed me. The beauty of the gardens amazed me, with a variety of colourful flowers growing in massive bunches, lush, green grass spreading around like a soft blanket, and young grass type Pokémon relaxing and playing in the sunshine.

    Joe jumped out of the buggy, and prepared to take a step before pausing, looking down at something on the ground. As I got out of the buggy on the side opposite the ranger, he turned towards me and asked, "Do you want to capture this Shroomish?"

    I smiled slightly; I had been interested in a Shroomish. I circled around to stand next to Joe, and knelt down, admiring the Shroomish. I tickled its chin with my index finger, and its soft, squishy skin feelt weird under my finger. I lowered my head next to its own, and whispered, “Hey little buddy, how are ya? You’re quite a cute little critter, you know that? You know, you’re the first Pokémon I’ve met here in the park, and I think I want to catch you, to be a part of my team.” I stood up and pulled the Dusk Bull out of my pocket again, and threw it towards the buggy. The ball split open, and in a bright flash of light, Millie appeared perched on the frame of the buggy. I quickly snatched my Dusk Ball out of the air, and turned to face the Shroomish again. “Shroomish, this is my buddy Millie, she’s a Mandibuzz. She’s going to fight you, and if you should let me, she’ll help me catch you.”

    “Buzz...” Millie cried softly. She cocked her head to the side, and stared at the Shroomish with a curious gaze. I smiled at Millie, and pulled a plain PokéBall out of my pocket. I threw the newer red and white capsule into the air behind me, and tall Nidoqueen appeared in a bright flash of light, catching her own PokéBall with her tail. She spun around, and with a flick of her tail, launched the PokéBall towards me, for me to catch, and pocket.

    I walked up to the new arrival, and embraced her in a hug. Pulling away, I addressed the Nidoqueen “Lizzie, it’s nice to see you again! Guess where we are. We’re in the Botanic Gardens, and the young Shroomish behind us, it’s the first Pokémon I’ve encountered here. Millie’s gunna help me catch it, and I want you to watch, this is a big moment for all of us.” I smiled, and Lizzie smiled back.

    I turned back around again. Millie flew over and landed on my head again, while Lizzie backed away slightly, as to not get involved in the battle. I looked over at my ranger, Joe, and finally answered his question. “I do want to catch this Shroomish, Joe, and Millie and I are ready to go.” Millie squawked in agreement.

    “Alright, Millie, let’s keep things simple for now, let’s just set ourselves up with a Tailwind. We want to manoeuvre around the little thing, trying to avoid its attacks, and slowly getting it. We don’t want to hurt it too much, understand?” Millie squawked in agreement once more, as she flapped her wings to lift herself off of my head, gradually flapping them faster to generate a gentle breeze.

    OOC: My Nidoqueen isn’t participating in the battle in anyway, only my Mandibuzz is. Nidoqueen is just watching. Also, did I do that attacking thing right?

We don’t want to hurt it too much, understand?” Brayden said to the Vulture Pokemon who was perched on the ground ahead of him.

    Within a swift movement, she propelled herself into the gentle breeze and soared through the air. Then she started to move side to side, creating a trail of wind behind her. Joe knew that the move Tailwind would increase the team's speed.

    Meanwhile Shroomish started to open it's mouth wide open and fire small green seeds towards the airborne Mandibuzz. The seed's whittled through the cool air and smacked into the side of Mandibuzz. Mandibuzz slowly reduced her altitude and started to free fall towards the ground. It looked like the Bullet Seeds had injured her wings.

    I watched on as Millie glided sideways through the air, creating small drafts of wind behind it. I was stunned by the beauty and grace of the Bone Vulture. I glanced back to Lizzie, and she was eagerly watching Millie as well. When I turned my head back around, however, the Shroomish had already started to launch large, green seeds out of its mouth, towards Millie. The small missiles barraged Millie, mainly striking her wings. I could see her wing beats slowing as she started to fall, and as the tailwind behind her started to falter. I knew the tailwind would last a little while longer, but it didn’t seem as strong anymore.

    Millie was having trouble staying in the air, and was slowly descending. I started racking my brain for ideas, before I felt a tap on my shoulder. I glanced backwards, and Lizzie was standing right behind me, making urgent gestures. I turned to face the Nidoqueen, and asked, “What’s up, Lizzie?” She just grunted in response, and started flapping her arms around wildly. I frowned, confused, as Lizzie started running around in circles flapping her arms. I shook my head, “I don’t see what you’re getting at...” Lizzie stopped running and stood in front of me, flapped her arms a couple of times, and then pushed towards me. She then crossed her arms, and sat down stubbornly on the ground.

    I didn’t know if this was what Lizzie was trying to tell me, but her wild actions had given me an idea. I spun around, and shouted to Mille, who was trying her hardest to stay aloft, “Millie, here’s what we’re going to do! I need you to whip up a small Gust, and aim it towards the Shroomish! Hopefully the tailwind you produced will get behind it to push it a long a little bit. But be careful, we don’t want to knock it out, understand?”

    Millie squawked in recognition, and gently perched herself on top of the nearby buggy. She gripped onto the bar with her talons, started to flap her wings furiously. I could see the strain in her face, and her wings were obviously hurting, but her wings were still strong enough to produce a heavier breeze. Millie directed the breeze towards the Shroomish, but I wasn’t paying attention to the Shroomish, and I didn’t see how much of an effect the attack had. My attention was focused solely on Millie. She looked down at me, with a somewhat proud look on her face, and she had a right to be. After the beating she had taken, pulling off an attack like that was an amazing feat.

    I walked over and reached my arm up, and gently pet the top of Mandibuzz’s folded wing. I felt her flinch, and I pulled away. “It’s okay, Millie, we’ll get you to heal up now. Go ahead and use Roost, okay?” I said, smiling softly.

    Millie just nodded, and awkwardly lifted herself into the air on her wings. She flew forwards slightly, and then lowered herself onto the ground. She squatted, and tucked her wings in, closed her eyes, and she appeared to be in bliss. I was sure that the Roost was helping her to regenerate her energy, and to recuperate. Millie’s Roost had let herself heal off some nasty injuries time and time again, and it had really made me glad that she wasn’t fussy with having TMs. I know there are quite a few Pokémon that refuse to use TMs, a lot of the more stubborn ones, but luckily, Millie was very rarely stubborn.

    I turned my focus to Lizzie, who was now leaning against the buggy. At times, Lizzie could be extremely stubborn, but she was always supportive. Lizzie was a more “rough and tough” kind of Pokémon, as opposed to Millie. Lizzie was almost always willing to take a hit or two, and somehow use that to her advantage. When she watched Millie battle, it was always interesting to see her reaction, because they both have completely different approaches to a fight. She was watching the battle against this Shroomish intently, and I was sure that even she was going to take something out of this.

    Lizzie clapped, and I snapped back into focus, looking around. Lizzie pointed towards the Mandibuzz, who was now standing tall, and looking well rested. I finally turned my attention towards the Shroomish, to see how it had fared.

    "Aight, fisk. Let's get going." Stunfisk looked at me with those derp-inducing eyes and seemed to relax. He slithered forward a little and I jumped onto his back, grabbing his ears as he started to move. It might look like I was neglecting my poor Pokemon by standing on it but Stunfisk had amazing body strength and could support several times their own weight easily. Gradualy he started to pick up speed, slithering over the grass and foilage of leaves, whizzing past trees, bushes and startled Pokemon. I saw a clearing a little ahead with a fallen log and I recognised this place as where we were heading to. Just past the first row of bushes was a trainer and a large vulture Pokemon. Almost hiding in the shrubbery was a cute little Shroomish. There seemed to be a bit of an unnatural wind brewing.

    “Millie, here’s what we’re going to do! I need you to whip up a small Gust, and aim it towards the Shroomish! Hopefully the tailwind you produced will get behind it to push it a long a little bit. But be careful, we don’t want to knock it out, understand?” the trainer said to his vulture Pokemon. The Mandibuzz stared at him head on before giving a nod curtly. She started to flap her wings ferociously against the Shroomish. The wings were beating hard and a strong gust of wind was lowing into the Shroomish. Shroomish was held in place and buffeted by the wind allowing Mandibuzz time to restore some energy. It landed on the ground and nestled its head inside its broad wings as though it was about to sleep. The wind was still going strong but this Shroomish was able to hold its ground. Realising it couldn't find the wind, I saw two large seeds attached to vines shoot out and shot into a hollow spot in a nearby oak tree. The vines pulled Shroomish out of the way and up into the tree. The poor Mandibuzz didn't know what to expect as it was still recovering.

    "Mish!" it cried, shaking its small, spotted body. Thousands of almost microscopic spores fell down onto the vulture. The vulture's head jerked upwards suddenly, before it twitched a little. It seemed to be paralysed. I took the time to advance, give the trainer a nod and rub my Stunfisk behind the ears. This battle seemed interesting.

    The young Shroomish I was facing had proven to be quite a tricky opponent. I had looked away from a moment, and the Shroomish has launched itself into a tree, using a Vine Whip to escape from the heavy winds. The sturdy vines had hooked around a thick branch, then retracting, bringing the Shroomish into the brush of the tree. Once the Shroomish had escaped Millie’s Gust, the Mandibuzz settled down, to heal herself, as I had asked her too. Taking the chance, the Shroomish hopped onto another tree branch almost directly above Millie, and started shaking its leathery body. Glimmering yellow spores started to descend onto Millie, and as the spores got into her feathers, and into body, she jerked her head up, realising too late what had happened. Her wing twitched slightly, and she was standing unnaturally still.

    I cried out, “Millie! Are you alright? Oh god, that Shroomish has paralysed you.” Millie barely managed to let out a quiet squawk in response. “Don’t worry; I have these cookies here, brought in from the Hoenn region. They taste really good, and they should be able to get you fixed right up, better than any of those potions. Just let me catch this Shroomish first, so it can’t hurt you anymore.”

    I glanced over to the side, and a ranger burst from the thick trees, and he appeared to be riding on the top of a small, slug-like Pokémon. Bending down, he gently rubbed behind the back of what I assumed to be ears, giving me a quick nod in the process. I couldn’t see any other trainers with him, so I assumed that he was here to continue taking me through the park, and I made a quick mental note to ask him about his unique Pokémon.

    Turning my attention back to the battle, I realised I had to act fast; that Shroomish wouldn’t allow us to make any mistakes, otherwise I knew that it would strike us hard, even though it was small in size. It had already paralysed Millie, and I didn’t wish to see what else it could do. Not until I had caught it, at any rate. I looked up and down the tree that the Shroomish currently rested in, and after scaling up the size of the tree, I was sure that I couldn’t get a PokéBall up into the branches of that tree on my own. The tree was too high for me to be able to throw, and the only option I could think of was trying to lure it down. Except that would leave Millie open for more attacks, and I didn’t want to put Millie through anymore pain.

    Behind me, I heard a soft thumping of heavy footsteps, before something tapped me on the shoulder. Turning around, my Nidoqueen greeted me with a grunt, pointing to a Park Ball on my belt. Confused, yet impatient, I asked, “What’s wrong, Lizzie? I’m kind of busy here.” I just received another grunt, and Lizzie started swinging her tail around wildly, narrowly missing both myself, and a few tall shrubs nearby, and once again, she had given me an idea.

    “Lizzie, I swear, you are amazing. Okay, I’m going to throw this ball over to you, are you able to flick it up into the tree with your tail, like we’ve practised? Hopefully, you can hit that Shroomish for me, because I don't think I'll be able to reach by myself.” A bright look crossed Lizzie’s face, and she nodded. I reach down, and grabbed one of the three Park Balls on my belt. I held it up and inspected it. It wasn’t much like any other PokéBall I had seen before. It had a green and brown camouflage pattern, and running my hand over the top, it felt a little rough. I bounced it in my hand, preparing to throw it to the waiting Nidoqueen. “Okay, Lizzie, are you ready?”

    Without waiting for an answer, I gently threw the ball towards her midsection, and she swung around, her tail colliding with the Park Ball, sending it flying. Lizzie and I had practiced PokéBall tricks before, and I knew she can be accurate with her shots. But all I could do now was wait to see if the ball actually reached the Shroomish, and that it didn't happen to move out of the way. And hopefully, if the ball actually hit, I would have a Shroomish.

    Brayden tossed the Park Ball high into the air and his Nidoqueen surged forward, spinning around and whacking the Pokeball towards the Shroomish. It was quite an interesting strategy and it seemed to work as the Shroomish was sucked in by a dark red light. The ball fell from high up in the branches to the foilage below and started to wiggle. It glowed a deep blue colour after a few seconds. I smiled to Brayden and pocketed the ball. "Looks like you just got your first Pokemon in the Park. Congrats."

    Brayden was quite quiet but I could sense he was pleased by the broad grin he bore as we walked along the dirty path that I had used to come here. The ground started to drop suddenly and it grew steeper and steeper. I noticed that there was a denser area of forest on the other side if we chose to take the hilly route. I had no idea where the descent would lead to. "Where do you want to go?" I asked him.

    The Park Ball smacked the Shroomish on the forehead, sucking the small Pokémon inside. The Park Ball toppled out of the branches onto the ground underneath the tree, where it wobbled furiously. When the ball stopped moving, it flashed a dark blue, and I couldn’t help but smile. The new ranger picked up the ball and stuffed it into his pocket, before turning to me, and saying, “Looks like you just got your first Pokemon in the Park. Congrats.” I simply smiled at the ranger in response.

    I walked up to Millie, with Lizzie at my side, and I quickly embraced her. “Thanks, Millie, you did a great job. Here, you can have one of these cookies, it should make you feel better.” I swung my backpack off of my shoulder, and dug my hand into a small side pocket, pulling out a small orange cookie. I held it out to the Mandibuzz, and reaching out her neck, she wolfed it down. I could see she was starting to feel better already, as she stood up taller. I grabbed the PokéBall and Dusk Ball from my belt, and held them up to my two Pokémon. “Come on guys, the two of you deserve a rest. I’ll call on you when I need you again.” The PokéBalls opened opened up and the two Pokémon were sucked inside.

    I grabbed my backpack and trudged after the new ranger as he started to walk down a dirt road, which he had just come from. We started to go down a hill, and the ranger turned to me, and asked, “Where do you want to go?”

    I thought about it for a moment, before reaching into my backpack, pulling out a small yellow box, and a disk sleeve. I pulled the disk out of the sleeve, and stuck it in a slit in the box, before looking up at the ranger, and saying, “Well, I’m just here for a Buneary. I’ve got this voice disk.” I pressed a button on the box, and the ringing cry of a Buneary started echoing through the nearby area. Keeping a firm grip on the box, I addressed the ranger again, “So can we go wherever Buneary are? Deeper into the forest, I guess?”

    OOC: Let the Expedition of Many Awesome Encounters begin!

    ~~~~~
    I strolled casually through the pseudo-forest, looking for one of the Rangers who was needed back at base. He had a Trainer, though, and since I'd been lazing around the base Ivy had sent me out to take his place. I didn't mind, though - I always enjoyed Expeditions to the Botanical Gardens. My last few had been spectacular, although secretly, I certainly did not hate the quieter runs.
    I found a path and decided to follow it. I could pull out my PDA and check on the Ranger's location, but that would require extra effort, and I had a pretty good sense of direction. I turned down the path and began whistling nonchalantly, enjoying the day.
    As I crested a hill, I grinned. My faith had been rewarded. On the path a bit lower down was the Ranger and his Trainer. Hooray. I strolled on down and tapped the Park Staff on his shoulder. I quietly informed him that he was needed back at headquarters. He nodded, slapped my arm, and walked back up the hill. I turned back to my Trainer and smiled at him, offering my hand to shake.
    "Hey there, my name is James Carter, but people round here call me Chainy," I said. "What's your name? And where are we off to?"
    OOC: @ChainReaction01 I used one of my Lava Cookies to cure Mandibuzz of Paralysis in the last post, and Nidoqueen shouldn't be hurt because it hasn't been in battle yet. :eek:
    I waited patiently with the ranger next to me, hoping to see some kind of Pokemon burst out from the bushes. I heard heavy footsteps trudging down the path behind me, and I spun around. My excitement quickly receded when I saw a man making his way down the path, in a ranger uniform, and looking straight at me. As he approached, he tapped my new ranger on the shoulder, and whispered something in his ear. My ranger started walking up the hill without a word, as the newcomer turned to address me, "Hey there, my name is James Carter, but people round here call me Chainy. What's your name? And where are we off to?" The ranger flashed a quick, friendly smile.
    I frowned as the ranger introduced himself. He seemed nice, but all of this ranger rotation was starting to get on my nerves. I awkwardly tried to smile, as I introduced myself to the ranger, "Uhm, I'm Brayden. I'm here for a few grass types, and a Buneary." I quickly shook his hand, then held the Pokeplayer up to show the ranger. "I have a Buneary Disc in here. You would know the Gardens better than me, but I guess we're headed deeper into the garden?" I shrugged as I finished, before turning around. I pushed the play button on the Pokeplayer, as the cry of Buneary started ringing through the area.
    "So, I guess you're leading the way? I just want to get some more Pokemon, so..."
    OOC: Oh okay, I didn't see the Lava Cookie. And according to one of Syn's battle posts up there Lizzie was attacked by the Shroomish, which is why it's at 83%. Also, sorry about the delay, just haven't been feeling it lately ;-;
    ~~~~~

    "Um, I'm Brayden," the Trainer said somewhat reluctantly. "I'm here for a few grass types, and a Buneary."

    The young man shook my hand then showed me his Pokeplayer before informing me that it currently had a Buneary disk in it. However, I already knew that - the visor over my right eye had been picking up wireless handshakes from the device. Currently, none of the disks' biomechanical energy had been exhausted, so he had a fair chance of encountering a Buneary on this run.

    "You would know the Gardens better than me, but I guess we're headed deeper into the garden?" Brayden asked.

    "Sure, sounds like as good a plan as any," I replied.

    "So, I guess you're leading the way?" he asked. "I just want to get some more Pokemon, so..."

    He trailed off, and I realised why. The Pokeplayer had emitted a quick Buneary call while we'd been talking, and one of the small brown/cream rabbits gambolled curiously out of the bushes. It looked up at us curiously, one of of its long ears twitching slightly.

    "Well, there's the Buneary." I grinned. "Take your best shot."

    OOC: Where does it say Nidoqueen was attacked? I know one of the stats says she was, but in the same post, he says that Mandibuzz was attacked. :s

    ~~~
    Not long after the cry of a Buneary started playing from the Pokeplayer, a small Buneary hopped out of a nearby bush. Its small face looked up at me, puzzled. I quickly stopped the Pokeplayer and threw it into my backpack. My ranger just glanced at the Rabbit Pokémon, which probably wasn’t a rare sight to him, before addressing me. “Well, there’s the Buneary. Take your best shot,” He quipped, smiling cheekily.
    I gazed down on the Buneary, and answered James, “With pleasure.” I pulled a red and white Pokeball out of my pocket, and clicked the small button in the middle, making it grow to full size. I juggled it in my hand excitedly, watching the Buneary carefully. Suddenly, I leapt back, and launched the Pokeball in the air. “Come on out, Lizzie!” I shouted, “This is just the moment we’ve been waiting for.”
    The Pokeball curved through the air, bursting open at the peak of its arc. A foggy white light emerged from the ball, and started to form a large, reptilian shape. Before long, a Nidoqueen was standing tall in front of me. Lizzie quickly adjusted to her surroundings, before trudging over to me, and lightly nuzzling me. I laughed and pet her head, whispering to her, “Hey, Lizzie. We finally found ourselves a Buneary. You ready for this?” Lizzie nodded at me and grunted. She glanced back at the innocent Buneary behind her, before shooting me a quick quizzical look. “Yes, that’s the Buneary,” I whispered, re-assuring her.
    I had been after a Buneary for a long time, since not long after I had met Lizzie. I met a great battler, who had similar Pokémon to myself. He had a Lopunny, and he almost took out my entire team with it. Since that battle, I had idolised the trainer, and I looked up to him. We had several other encounters following that, and I enjoyed battling him. A couple of times, I had even managed to come out on top. However, since that initial battle with him, I sought to get a Lopunny for myself, but I never got a chance; until today.
    Lizzie turned to face the Buneary with a determined look on her face. She growled at the Rabbit Pokémon, to show that she was ready to fight. I chuckled quietly, before telling her my plan. “Okay, Lizzie. Standard plan of action here. We’re going to try and weaken the Buneary, without hurting it too much. We want to try and avoiding knocking it out at all costs,” I explained. Lizzie nodded quickly, so I continued, “For now, we’ll start off simple. I would like you to shoot a Thunderbolt at the Buneary. Try and catch it offguard, and hopefully, you can paralyse it. And if we’re lucky, this battle will turn interesting.”
    Lizzie nodded, grunting under her breath. I could tell she was excited, as she was almost shivering. After being together for so long, we’d begun to adopt each other’s feelings, and goals, as our own, and we understood each other. She was just as excited for this as I was.
    She closed her eyes, and focused her energy. She didn’t tend to use her electric attacks much, being a part ground type. She brought her hands together, and slowly started charging a small ball of electricity. The small ball crackled and hissed, and jumped at her hands, only to be absorbed harmlessly by her skin. She wasn’t the most confident user of Thunderbolt, and I knew it took her a little bit of time to get herself ready to fire the attack. But, I knew that once she fired it, it could be just as strong as any other Thunderbolt.
    I called out to Lizzie, “You can do it; I know you can. Just be careful. We don’t want to knock the little fella out.” I was sure she acknowledged me, but she didn’t show any signs. When she was ready, I saw her loosen her shoulders a little, and she thrust the ball of electricity towards the Buneary, where it extended into a small stream. Hopefully, the attack would do what we wanted it to do, and paralyse the Buneary.
    OOC: Okay, idec, I'm too lazy to reread the thread so I'll just make em both 100% xD What gender do you want the Buneary?
    ~~~~~

    "With pleasure," my Trainer replied. “Come on out, Lizzie. This is just the moment we’ve been waiting for!”

    He threw a PokeBall up into the air and it flashed white, revealing a blue/green lizard-like Pokemon. I recognised it as a Nidoqueen - a rare choice for a Trainer. Nidoqueen were often compared with Nidoking, and most Trainers found her to be less powerful. Nidoqueen were mostly defensive Pokemon, where Nidoking were offensive, and in the fast-paced world of professional battling increased attack was preferred over higher defenses. Still, I always admired those Trainers who brought Pokemon they liked as opposed to those who were powerful. Damn Infernapes.

    Brayden pointed the Buneary out to Lizzie, and both of them seemed quite excited at the prospect of catching one. I gathered it had been a long search for the both of them.

    “Okay, Lizzie. Standard plan of action here. We’re going to try and weaken the Buneary, without hurting it too much. We want to try and avoiding knocking it out at all costs. For now, we’ll start off simple. I would like you to shoot a Thunderbolt at the Buneary," Brayden ordered. "Try and catch it off guard, and hopefully, you can paralyse it. And if we’re lucky, this battle will turn interesting.”

    Lizzie nodded and held her arms apart in front of herself. A small ball of electricity began growing in-between her palms. Small sparks jumped off the orb and crawled along her skin / fell onto the ground, but seeing as Lizzie was Ground-typed herself, they didn't bother her in the slightest.

    “You can do it," Brayden called out, "I know you can. Just be careful. We don’t want to knock the little fella out.”

    The Buneary seemed to sense that something bad was coming its way. It began running towards the Nidoqueen, utilising a strange semi-hopping gait that involved all four of its legs. It wasn't fast enough to reach Brayden's Pokemon before being hit, though - Lizzie launched the Thunderbolt by pushing the ball towards the Normal-type. The ball jumped forwards, turning into a stream of electricity as it did so. The stream crashed into the Buneary, causing it to stumble and fall onto the ground. The electricity washed over and around the bunny, completely covering it. When the Thunderbolt attack ended, the Normal-type was panting hard, and its fur had been singed in some places, but it still looked relatively okay. It got back onto its feet and ran towards the Nidoqueen, its right fist glowing bright white. At the last second, however, the Buneary seemed to stumble. It twirled around and fell over its own feet, hands and ears flailing wildly. However, its glowing fist still managed to connect with Lizzie's knee.

    My jaw dropped as the Nidoqueen was knocked over, onto her back. I found it hard to believe that such a large creature could be knocked over by a glancing blow from a bunny rabbit, but the proof was there. I watched as the Buneary got back to its feet, and I knew Brayden would have to battle carefully if he wanted to make this Wild Pokemon one of his own.

    OOC: Sorry I keep taking so long to post, I'm still not confident writing. And a female Buneary would be awesome, please. ;)

    ~~~
    The Buneary snapped its attention to Lizzie, who was charging up a ball of electricity. Apparently, my idea of a surprise attack didn’t work, because the Buneary started charging straight towards Lizzie. The rabbit-like Pokémon had got down on all four legs, and was moving quickly. Lizzie pushed the ball of electricity in her hands towards the Buneary, and hit the charging Pokémon head on. The electricity coursed through its body, causing it to trip over. It lay sprawled out in the dirt, seemingly starting to tire already.
    The Buneary managed to push itself onto its feet. It looked tired, and its fur was starting to look a bit scruffy. There was a determined look in its eye as it started to charge towards Lizzie again. It raised one of its fists as it ran, preparing to strike the significantly larger Nidoqueen in front of it. I couldn’t help but wondering what it was planning, until its fist started to glow a bright white. I had seen this happen with a lot of Pokémon, the light was a type of energy that added more strength and additional effects to Pokémon’s physical moves. I couldn’t remember what moves a Buneary learnt, however, so I could only watch on with a mild curiosity.
    As it neared Lizzie, the Buneary made a small hop and spun around delicately. It then managed to trip over its own feet, and it fell to the ground - limbs flailing in all directions as it did so. Its fist managed to connect with Lizzie’s knee, and the large creature was spent toppling to the ground. I couldn’t help gawking at the Buneary, and I noticed out of the side of my eye that my ranger looked shocked as well. The small rabbit Pokemon had managed to take down another Pokémon much larger, and heavier, than itself, all as it was falling over.
    I ran over to Lizzie, who was lying on her back. I crouched down next to her, and whispered, “You alright, Lizzie? That was some attack.” Lizzie looked up at my face, and grunted, awkwardly trying to smile. I glanced over at the Buneary, and it was picking itself up off its feet, looking only a little disoriented. “Hm, that must’ve been a Dizzy Punch,” I mused out a loud as I realised. “This one is going to be tricky.”
    I stood back up, and edged myself back away from Lizzie, giving her some room. We needed to pull ourselves together if we wanted to stand any chance of catching this Buneary. I desperately started searching the surroundings, and racking my brain of all of Lizzie’s attacks, hoping to come up with something useful. There were a few rocks around the place, and it brought back a memory with another trainer’s Nidoqueen in battle, on similar terrain. It was fighting a Snorlax, and it had used its tail to launch itself in the air, off of the top of a larger rock. It had then come down on top of the Snorlax with a powerful Double Kick attack – which gave me an idea. Lizzie couldn’t launch herself in the air from her position, but she could easily propel herself forward.
    Lizzie had started to push herself onto her feet. I quickly shouted out, “No! Don’t get up yet, Lizzie. I have an idea.” The Nidoqueen let herself fall back to the ground, obviously confused. I re-assured her, while keeping an eye on the Buneary, and going of the plan in my head. “Okay, so this time, we’re going to charge straight at it with a Double Kick. However, I want you to use your position to your advantage. There is a rock not far behind your head; you should be able to reach it lying on your back. I want you to use Strength on that rock, and push against it as hard as you can. When you do, I want you to try and launch yourself straight towards the Buneary, using the rock. With that momentum behind you, hit it hard with a Double Kick.”
    I knew the plan sounded crazy, and I was expecting my ranger to give me a funny look, but that’s okay. I was hoping that by pushing against the rock using Strength, she could turn herself into a kind of torpedo, and hit the Buneary harder with a Double Kick. I knew there was every chance for it to dodge, but that was a risk I was willing to take; If this Buneary could take a Thunderbolt like that and fight as if nothing happened, than it was either strong, or gutsy, and I needed to hit it good. There was always the niggling at the back of my mind about knocking the Buneary out, and being unable to catch it, and maybe this was going too far, but I wanted to try anyway.
    Lizzie, having heard my orders, propped herself off of the ground slightly with her tail. Her arms started glowing white, and she held them steady by the side of her body. Soon, she would push against the rock with as much force as she could, and start flying towards the target like a Torpedo; waiting to land a Double Kick as soon as she got close enough.
    ~~~~~

    “You alright, Lizzie?" Brayden asked his Pokemon concernedly. "That was some attack. That must’ve been a Dizzy Punch. This one is going to be tricky.”

    Lizzie tried to smile and get up onto her feet, but Brayden quickly stopped her.“No! Don’t get up yet, Lizzie. I have an idea.”

    The Nidoqueen fell back onto the earth, obviously not understanding what her Trainer was planning. The young man watched the Buneary for a couple seconds before speaking up. “Okay, so this time, we’re going to charge straight at it with a Double Kick. However, I want you to use your position to your advantage. There is a rock not far behind your head; you should be able to reach it lying on your back. I want you to use Strength on that rock, and push against it as hard as you can. When you do, I want you to try and launch yourself straight towards the Buneary, using the rock. With that momentum behind you, hit it hard with a Double Kick.”

    Lizzie raised herself off the ground using her tail before smashing her powerful arms into the stone behind her. The stone buckled and cracked a bit, but sure enough, the Poison-type was thrust towards the rabbit like a missile. The Nidoqueen pulled her knees back. When she was in range, she lashed out with her left foot, kicking the Buneary in the chest, pulling her along for the ride. Her right foot then impacted on the Normal-type's face, sending it spinning. Both Pokemon hit the ground on the same time, a several metres away from each other. Lizzie got to her feet, but the Buneary went in the opposite direction. A sudden dust cloud erupted and when it faded, the rabbit was nowhere to be seen. There was, however, a large hole in the ground.

    Lizzie smashed her arms at the rock that rested behind her head. The rock looked like it was going to give way, but that didn’t matter as the large reptile was sent rocketing towards the small Pokémon standing in front of her. She looked determined as she brought her legs back and braced herself for impact. Her left leg collided solidly with the Buneary, and sent it flying. Her other leg connected with the small rabbit’s head as it was sent sprawling to the ground. Lizzie landed heavily on the ground shortly after. She slowly pushed herself to her feet, obviously starting to fatigue, but the small brown critter was already up and dashing away.

    The attack had worked better than I had hoped, as Lizzie had scored a clean hit on the Buneary. And yet, it was up and rearing to go again. I could only admire its strength and endurance as it somehow managed to put up a tough fight for the Nidoqueen. In this battle alone, it had proved itself as a very persistant and I could tell it had quite the personality on it.

    I called out to Lizzie, “Nice job! That was an awesome attack, you did great! Are you alright, though?” The reptilian Pokémon stood up confidently and brushed the dirt off of her scaly hide. She looked over to me, grinned, and nodded. I knew that she wouldn’t back down, and I could see the determination burning in her green eyes.

    We both turned out attention to the small rabbit Pokémon, but it had disappeared from sight. There was a large, gaping hole in the ground, and a cloud of dust and dirt swirled through the air. I didn’t know how much time we had, but I had to think fast. It was pretty obvious that the Buneary had dug underground. Dig was a dangerous attack for a Pokémon to use, but it was even more dangerous for the Pokémon that was going to receive the attack. Being underground isn’t the best place to be, especially if you’re not a Ground type, but the opportunity to launch a powerful surprise attack from underneath the opponent was just too great to turn down. This opponent was becoming more wily and cunning with its attacks, and with its speed and small stature in comparison to the larger reptile, it was easy for it out manoeuvre Lizzie with attacks like Dig.

    I needed to find a way to beat such an agile Pokémon. Lizzie couldn’t beat it with speed or agility, but Lizzie was stronger than the tiny Pokémon, and I was sure there was a way I could use that against it. I looked over to Lizzie, and she was cautiously watching the ground. I couldn’t feel the Buneary digging underground, but Lizzie had heightened senses, so she probably could. Even still, there was no way for Lizzie to be able to reach it, without tearing up half of the ground. I know many trainers in the past have used moves like Magnitude and Earthquake to attack underground opponents, as seems to affect them even worse the deeper down they were. But I couldn’t do that; it could knock the Buneary out while it was underground, and that wouldn’t be good. Besides that, I don’t think Lizzie can even use Earthquake, despite it being a key move for most ground types.

    “A trap!” I shouted excitedly as the idea formed in my brain. Lizzie eyed me curiously, waiting for me to explain. “We need to lure it out of the ground, Lizzie. You can’t reach it while it’s down there, and I can’t catch it, so we need to get it out. And what way is better than with a trap?” Lizzie seemed to understand what I was planning, but I continued anyway, “I need you to act as the bait though, can you do that for me?” A grin crept across her face, and it was hard for her to hide her enthusiasm.

    “Alright, so I need you to use Stealth Rock, and set up the rocks surrounding you, as a trap. Once the Buneary comes out to attack you, I need you to take the hit, and let your rocks do their thing. Maybe throw in a scratch or two if you get the chance. And then I’m going to try to catch it.” I felt bad letting Lizzie bluntly take a hit like that, but I knew that she was tough and could take a hit, and hopefully put the Buneary in an easy position for me to catch it.

    Lizzie’s eyes glowed as she raised her arms, and a different assortment of small rocks rose up from the ground. They had all had a feint purple aura as the collection of rocks formed themselves into a circle around Lizzie. I knew that when the Buneary appeared from underground, the stones would fly in and barrage the Buneary. If it all went to plan, the Buneary would attack Lizzie, she would take it and try to hit back, and let her Stealth Rock hit the Buneary a bit. Hopefully, the Buneary would fall for my trap, and I could catch it.

    I pulled a Park Ball out of my pocket and ran my fingers over the rough khaki decoration on the ball. I bounced it lightly in my hand as I watched on nervously. I really wanted this Buneary, and this was a long time coming for me. I was ready to throw that Park Ball when the opportunity arose, preferably after the Buneary had been weakened by Stealth Rock, but if it was to somehow avoid the trap, I was going to throw the ball anyway.

    OOC: So yea, throwing pokeball at the end no matter what happens. :eek:

    Brayden congratulated his Pokemon on a combo and made sure she was alright before falling silent. Even if Lizzie could chase the Buneary underground, she was far too large and slow to actually catch it. I could almost see the ideas enter and leave Brayden's head as he considered all the possibilities.

    “A trap!” he exclaimed suddenly. “We need to lure it out of the ground, Lizzie. You can’t reach it while it’s down there, and I can’t catch it, so we need to get it out. And what way is better than with a trap? I need you to act as the bait though, can you do that for me?"

    The Nidoqueen grinned at the young man and widened her stance, ready for her next set of orders.

    “Alright, so I need you to use Stealth Rock, and set up the rocks surrounding you, as a trap. Once the Buneary comes out to attack you, I need you to take the hit, and let your rocks do their thing. Maybe throw in a scratch or two if you get the chance," Brayden commanded. "And then I’m going to try to catch it.”

    Lizzie raised her arms, and a slight purple aura surrounded her. An assortment of rocks rose out of the ground, also covered in the soft purple light. They ranged in size from as large as Lizzie's arm to a little bit smaller than one of her feet. I was sure that each of them had quite the potential for harm, though.

    Nothing happened for a couple seconds, and then the ground beneath Lizzie exploded. A dust cloud rose up and I couldn't see anything that was happening. Lizzie fell out of the dustcloud, landing heavily on her rear end, and it was clear the Ground-type attack had taken its toll on her. However, the plan had worked. All of the rocks shot inwards to one point and I heard a squeak, which indicated that the rabbit had been struck. Now all we had to do was wait for the dustcloud to go down.

    Brayden obviously didn't want to wait. He threw a Park Ball into the haze, and I held my breath, waiting for something to happen.

    Nothing did. Not for half a minute anyway, until the dust settled. Covered in a fine film of dust was Brayden's Park Ball, its central button glowing red to indicate that the capture had been a success.

    "Congratulations," I said as I walked forwards and picked the ball up. A quick rub on my jacket ensured that the device was clean, and then I slipped it into my bag. "Let me know when you're ready to move on."

    The target of my capture attempt, the small Buneary, attacked sooner than I expected it to; and it moved right into my trap. It popped up from the ground and ambushed Lizzie in an explosion of dirt and dust. I saw Lizzie topple to the ground yet again, another testament to the small Pokémon’s strength, before the thick dust blocked my few. I saw the few remaining rocks that were visible swarm into the dust cloud, and I heard a weakened squeal. That was the sound I was waiting to hear, and it told me that the Stealth Rock and done its job.
    Excitement bubbled up inside me; I had been waiting for this attempt at a capture for so long, and I was so close. This Buneary would be a perfect Pokémon and I couldn’t wait to try and catch it. I looked down at the Park Ball in my hand, and then back to the thick dust cloud hovering over where Lizzie was. I was too eager to catch that Buneary that I didn’t even wait until I could get a clear shot at it. I blindly launched my Park Ball straight into the dust cloud, and almost immediately regretted it. There was no way I would be able to catch a Pokémon like that, let alone a small and nimble one like my opponent.

    I watched on anxiously while I waited for the mess to settle, and out of the side of my eye, I saw my ranger watching on eagerly too. When the tired out Lizzie came into view, the Buneary was nowhere to be seen. Lizzie was in a sitting position now, and seemed hurt by the powerful attack from the Buneary, but she was only focusing on the Park Ball lying on the ground in front of her. My instant reaction was to scan the immediate area, trying to find the little Pokémon, or perhaps another hole in case it had used Dig again. But neither it or any holes were anywhere to be seen. I started to worry before my ranger made a move, and went to pick up the Park Ball from next to Lizzie.

    The ranger - Chainy, I think he called himself – cleaned the ball on the side of his ranger jacket, and addressed me, “Congratulations. Let me know when you’re ready to move on.” I nodded to him in acknowledgement, and rushed over to Lizzie. With a lot of effort, I helped the heavy reptile Pokémon onto her feet, and then embraced her in a tight hug. This was a very happy moment for me, and I’m sure Lizzie felt the same.

    “We did it, Lizzie! We finally did it!” I cheered. The Nidoqueen roared excitedly along with my cheering, before settling down. I couldn’t stop cheering, though, and Lizzie had to shake me come to my senses. “Okay, maybe I was a bit too happy,” I admitted. “But you did an awesome job, Lizzie, I’m so proud of you.” I returned Lizzie to her PokéBall, and walked over to the ranger, who was patiently waiting for me.

    “I’m ready to head off now, thanks. Although, I didn’t think I’d run into a Buneary so quickly, so I don’t think there’s any other Pokémon I want. But please, lead the way,” I finished, trying to be as friendly as possible to my ranger.
