"I am afraid no, however I'll use another doll if it doesn't work," Alex said. I was hoping he could at least battle this Pokemon. It went through the trouble of evolving for him just so that Alex could battle him, and he didn't even want to do that. I wanted to tell this guy something, but the Ranger code prohibited me from saying anything else. I couldn't force him to battle Gigalith, but I really wanted him too, especially since it had just evolved to get his attention.

"Whatever." I shrugged. I watched Gigalith walk away sadly. I could see the disappointment on his face. "Cheer up buddy, I'll come back and battle you later so we can test your strength if you want." I said to him. I could see his face light up with happiness. I was glad he wasn't sad now, I could now move on. Alex took out his Litwick voice disk and popped in a Growlithe voice disk.

"If it is a Growlithe you're looking for, there should be a group up ahead." I stated, then mumbled. "Hopefully you won't offend one of them." I said. We walked up the path more until we came across a small indention on the side of the mountain. There was a small patch of grass there and a small group of Growlithe. One of the Growlithe growled at us and moved forward. I could tell it wasn't the leader of the pack, but it was still trying to prove something.

"Want to battle this Growlithe?" I asked him.

Alex declined the offer to battle Gigalith. He felt bad for the Pokemon, having just evolved to show that it wasn’t just an ordinary Gigalith you see in the park. Gigaliths were very proud and dominant Pokemon and when a Pokemon or a trainer declines a challenge it becomes a very stubborn Pokemon. Alex turned to his ranger and noticed his facial expression was quite disgusted by Alex’s actions. Alex walked up the Gigalith and held out his hand. He stroked the hard rough skin of Gigalith and paid him some respect.

”I’m sorry. I know you evolved because you wanted to prove yourself, however I already have a Gigalith at home. I’m sure there will another trainer will come along and battle you. I’m sorry Gigalith,” Alex said. He turned around and looked at his ranger again, who had the same disgust look on his face. "Whatever," he said and walked away. The Gigalith turned his head around and started to walk back down the path.

Alex swapped around his disks and placed a disk with the label ‘Growlithe’ printed on the front. He placed the disk in the player and watched as it started to spin around franticly. He stood up and listened to the sound of a Growlithe barking. Hopefully the barking noise would attract the Growlithe’s which occupy the local area. Alex really wanted to catch some more Fire Pokemon, since his team was lacking in that area. His main objective was to capture a Litwick, since they are a very unique and powerful species, managing to attack with both Ghost and Fire attacks. However if that failed, there was always going to be a back up plan. Alex always loved the Pokemon Growlithe, ever since he met one when he visited his grandparent’s house. Growlithe lived next door with an old couple and Alex would frequently go over to the house to visit Growlithe. He would take the Pokemon on walks, feed the Pokemon and also play with it, while he was at his grandparent’s house. However when Alex went to visit his grandparents house one day, he noticed that the house next door was empty and that they moved out to a small property out of town.

Alex quit day dreaming and noticed that his ranger had said something, "If it is a Growlithe you're looking for, there should be a group up ahead.” The he mumbled, "Hopefully you won't offend one of them."

Alex smiled; he knew it was a joke. They continued to walk up the path towards where his ranger said there was a group of them. As the walked, Alex noticed a small patch of grass to his left and noticed feint rustling amongst the grass. Alex stopped and walked closer to the grass. Once he was closer, he noticed a group of Growlithe. They had a short, rounded muzzle, a small, fluffy tail, a tuft of fur on top of their heads, and small rounded ears. They have bright orange fur with black stripes over their back and on their forelegs. Their bellies, tails, and the fluff on top of their heads were a cream colour. Their noses are shiny black, while the insides of its ears are like brown. One of them looked up at Alex and quickly advanced. Alex started to wonder if this was the leader of the group or if it just was a stubborn one.

"Want to battle this Growlithe?" his ranger asked.

Alex nodded and took a couple of spaces back, creating some space between him and the Growlithe. He reached into his bag and removed a small red and white ball. He held the ball tight in his hand and threw it into the air. “Common out Amor,” He shouted as the ball broke open. A huge white bird appeared from the ball. She had long elegant wings and her small patterns across his chest shinned in the sun. Growlithe looked up at Togekiss and barked out loud. Alex looked at Growlithe and shouted to Togekiss, “Togekiss, use Charm to lower his attack and then use Shadow Ball,”

The Growlithe that were watching the battle moved back a bit. I could tell they wanted to jump in and protect their friend, but they knew it was something he had to do on his own. If they did jump in, I could easily hold them off while Alex proceeded to finish the battle. Wasn't sure exactly what he was trying to prove, but whatever it was, he was more than likely going to get captured in this battle. Perhaps he wasn't trying to prove anything, maybe he was trying to see how strong Alex was and determine whether or not he wanted to go along with this Trainer. At least that is what most people did.

Alex brought out a Pokeball and tossed it besides him. “Common out Amor,” He said as a red light came out of the Pokeball, and with it a Togekiss. The medium size white bird with red and blue triangles stretched its wings and took flight. “Togekiss, use Charm to lower his attack and then use Shadow Ball,” Wasn't sure how great this would be, but at least the battle finally started, how it would end though interested me, especially in how hard the Growlithe was going to try to avoid capture.

Togekiss began sending pink hearts towards Growlithe, in hopes to cripple his attack. I didn't know how effective that would be in the long run, since Growlithe also had great special attacks, but at least one of the two was down for now. Togekiss then continued her assault with a Shadow Ball. The move itself wouldn't do much damage to Growlithe, but perhaps that was the point. Either way, it was now Growlithes turn.

Growlithe ran forward closer to Togekiss, jaw opened wide. At first I thought it was going to Crunch or Thunder Fang Togekiss, but instead, a large stream of flames shot out and engulfed the flying egg Pokemon. When the flames subsided, I saw a couple of black spots on Togekiss, but nothing that showed it was burned, luckily for him. Growlithe then retreated back to await Togekiss' next move.

“Togekiss use Charm to lower his attack and then use Shadow Ball,” Alex commanded.

Togekiss nodded in agreement and started to spin around on her feet in the air. She extended her long white elegant wings and looked like a tabletop spinner in mid-air. Then she opened her mouth and started to sprinkle small rose pink love hearts towards the ground. The love hearts slowly danced their way towards Growlithe. Charm was a move which lowered the attack of the opponent, which was very handy. Even though Alex knew that Growlithe’s main attacks were special, he did remember that Growlithe learned Thunder Fang, a move which is super effective against a flying type. Growlithe watched as the hearts fell upon him and sneezed, hinting that his attack was lowered.

Togekiss halted immediately and watched as the remaining hearts fell towards the ground. Then, Togekiss started to form a small dark orb in between her wings. A small trail of energy appeared to be coming out from the two wings of Togekiss and into the orb. The orb suddenly increased in size, feeding on the energy from Togekiss’ wings. Then, when the attack was ready, Togekiss fired the large black orb towards Growlithe. The black orb cascaded down towards the small Puppy Pokemon, accelerating as it fell. Growlithe didn’t move at allowed the black orb to simply collide into him. Alex started to wonder why Growlithe would do that. Did he want to test the power of Togekiss’ attacks? Or did he want catch Togekiss’ off guard?

Growlithe shrugged of the attack and started to run towards Togekiss. Alex had a bad idea; since this motion was looking it would lead up to a physical attack. Growlithe started to open his mouth, revealing a set of white danger like fangs. Then the small Puppy Pokemon leapt into the air, metres away from Togekiss. Alex knew that Growlithe was going to use a physical attack like Bite or Thunder Fang and hoped that Togekiss’ would endure the pain. However to Alex’s surprise, a jet of fire blasted out from Growlithe’s mouth. Togekiss was covered in fire, scorching his white clean body. The flames died down and her body was covered in small black patches. Luckily enough for Alex they weren’t going to cause any serious problems.

Alex looked down at Growlithe and started to wonder if this Pokemon was their leader. It was powerful, and also had the element of surprise. If he wasn’t, Alex didn’t want to meet the leader. Alex started to think of some ideas how to combat this tricky Pokemon.

‘Ok, Growlithe is a Fire Pokemon and is weak to Ground and Water attacks. Unfortunately for Togekiss, she learns none of them. Most of Growlithe’s attacks are Special so Togekiss has to have a way of reducing the power of those attacks. Maybe she could use Light Screen? Yes Light Screen would do. Ok, now it’s time to deal some damage to this Growlithe. Is it a bit risky to order Togekiss to use her combo? I don’t know she’s only been perfecting it for a couple of weeks it might not work.’

Alex looked forward and called out to Togekiss, “Togekiss first use Light Screen, and then I want you to use your combination we have been learning,”

Togekiss looked at Alex with a worrying look. Was he really going to ask her to use that move, even though she had just learnt it. Alex noticed this worrying look and said to Togekiss, “Don’t worry, I believe in you.”

Alex started to imagine the attack as it was taking place. Togekiss would start to prepare the move Tri-Attack by forming a huge white triangle filled with energy. Then she would force herself through the triangle and use Extreemspeed to hit the Growlithe. The power of the Tri-Attack would be attack to Togekiss when she attack, causing more damage.

“Togekiss first use Light Screen, and then I want you to use your combination we have been learning,” He said, then added, “Don’t worry, I believe in you.”

I wasn't exactly sure what this combo was, but I knew what Light Screen did. Light Screen was a move that created a small barrier of some sorts using Psychic energy around the user. The barrier would lessen the damage any Special Attacks like Flamethrower or Thunderbolt did by a lot. It was a quite useful move, especially in battle to prevent further damage from taking place. That and Reflect were commonly used in a lot of battles, so I wasn't surprised in seeing it used here. In fact, if he didn't use it here, I would have been surprised.

Growlithe noticed this and began howling loudly. His comrades that were watching on the sidelines mimicked this were also howling. The move Howl increased the attack of the user by one stage, which meant Growlithe's attack was now where it was when this battle started. Growlithe then proceeded by charging at Togekiss. Growlithe's body began producing sparks of electricity. The sparks grew bigger as Growlithe got closer. When the small puppy Pokemon was close enough, it lept off of the ground and slammed in pretty hard into Togekiss. That move was known as Wild Charge, it also caused recoil to the user.

Togekiss was knocked out of the sky. The barrier it had set up didn't quite help with a Physical attack. Togekiss then began creating a small triangle shaped beam. On the top was a reddish white light. On the bottom left was a bluish white light and on the other corner was a greenish yellow white ligh. The three corners glowed brighter and then melded together to form Tri Attack. Togekiss went straight through it, boosting the speed of the attack with Extremespeed and doing extra damage at the same time.

OCC: If it is a capture, I would like to leave the park please Bee.

“Togekiss first use Light Screen, and then I want you to use your combination we have been learning,” Alex commanded.

Light Screen was an easy move to get the hang of. It reduced the power of special attacks by a half. Alex knew that most of Growlithe’s attacks were special and if he tried to use any physical moves, he would be hindered by Charm attack Togekiss used earlier on in the battle. Togekiss nodded to Alex command and suddenly formed a large pink shield around her self. It was a smart move since it allowed Togekiss to attack out from it, but resist special moves coming in.

Then out of nowhere, Growlithe suddenly howled out loud. His howling suddenly was joined by the other Growlithes. Howl was a move which increased the attack of the user by 1 which meant that it put Growlithes attack back to where it was at the beginning of the battle. Growlithe suddenly picked up speed and darted towards Togekiss. His body started to glow in a bright yellow colour with sparks leaping off from his skin. Growlithe leaped into the air and collided into Togekiss. Alex noticed that Growlithe was using the move Wild Charge. Although it was super effective against Togekiss, it did deal recoil to the user.

Togekiss shrugged off the attack and started to create a small white triangle. This was the first step in the combo attack. Each corner of the triangle was a different colour; with the top one being red, the bottom left one being light blue and the bottom right one being yellow. The three colours glowed bright and melded together to form the basis of a Tri-Attack. Then Togekiss forced itself through the newly created triangle and bombed down towards Growlithe. The triangle attached themselves to Togekiss like glue. Togekiss glided down and smacked into Growlithe, dealing more damage with the Tri-Attack.

Alex called out to Togekiss, “One more attack, use Air Slash Togekiss.”

He pulled out two items from his bag, one a Parkball and the other a Soothing Fragrance Super. He sprayed the Parkball with the Soothing Fragrance Super and waited till Togekiss performed the attack. Then Alex would throw the Pokeball and hope for a capture.
