The alarm was too noisy, Alpha couldn't bare the sound of a ringing clock in the middle of the morning, especially when he overslept. "The alarm woke me up late, oversleeping is fun." As soon as Alpha rose from the bed, he turned his head around and shoved it inside his fluffy pillow. The sun was shining brightly, the alarm clock wasn't turned off yet, and now his speaker started to talk.

"Ranger Alpha, you'll be receiving another trainer." The sound of having another trainer woke Alpha up. If there was one thing that wouldn't get him to sleep, that was having more trainers to escort. More trainers was equal to more pay. Noone ever backs down from the word 'money', or even just its scent.

"Too sleepy," Alpha whispered to himself as he tried to get up on the bed and reached towards his ranger outfit to talk to the official. "Who's the lucky guy?" Pressing his finger on a small button on his ranger outfit, he began to speak on a small microphone that was connected to the button by a wire.

"His name is Roulette. We don't have that much info about his life, but try to act nice." The speaker turned off.

Alpha removed his white shirt and put on the ranger outfit that had the button connected to. Afterwards, he removed his pajamas and went to the closet to find his black ranger pants. "Where are my pants. Ah, there they are." Alpha's hand went inside the closet to get the black pants that hanged on the left side. Hurriedly, he put it on as he dashed towards one of his tables, grabbing his Pokemon belt, and zoomed outside of his room.

"Okay, where shall I meet the trainer, then?" Alpha asked at the official once more.

"I don't know, just expect a trainer named Roulette. He claims he's going to Mt. Oktori. You'd best bring a Fire-typed if you want to stay warm," the voice laughed hysterically. Basically, Alpha just ignored the official's teases and waited for the trainer to arrive.

As I walked to my destination inside the park, my nerves began jumping around. I love to search for rare pokemon to further my collection, and from what I've heard, the park is the perfect place to do so.

I had told the officials at the park that I wished to go to Mt. Oktori. From what people had told me, the place was crawling with Ice and Fighting types, which I loved. I did some research on the area before setting off, and apparently it's a huge mountain with frozen ground all around it. There are supposed to be blizzard-like conditions near the top, but I was comfortable in the cold, and so were my pokemon.

I was bringing two Fire types and an Ice type of my own for this excursion, so hopefully I would be suited for the harsh terrain that I would be covering soon, and the pokemon that inhabited it.

As I walked toward the park's front gate, I checked the slip of paper that the official had given me. "Your ranger's name is Alpha, and he will be taking you on your run through Mt. Oktori. Don't be surprised if he oversleeps and is late by a minute or two." I read the last part and laughed a bit. I think Alpha and I are going to have quite a bit in common, since I can barely wake up in the mornings as well. This morning was different though, since I would be taking my first run through the National Park. I was far too excited to sleep in, and barely even slept last night.

Luckily, as I got closer to the gate, I could see someone standing in front of it. He certainly looked like a Ranger, so maybe this would be Alpha. My Houndoom walked nervously behind me, not wanting to get too close to the unknown person.

As I approached the gate, I saw that the person was in fact a Ranger. I pulled the slip of paper they had given me back out, and pulled a picture out of the back. He matched the photograph, so I was relieved that my run would be starting soon. I patted Houndoom on the head, trying to comfort him, and he seemed to feel more at ease now.

"Morning, Alpha! Looks like you're my Ranger for today. Ready to set off towards Mt. Oktori?" I asked him. He yawned, looking like he was still tired.

A trainer approached Alpha near the ranger center. "Morning, Alpha! Looks like you're my ranger for today. Ready to set off towards Mt. Oktori?" the trainer asked back at Alpha. A black dog barked loudly at him, which probably woke him up for the meantime. A fire Pokemon, just what Alpha needed. Now he wouldn't bring a scarf nor a leather jacket nor a fire Pokemon on the way to Mt. Oktori.

"Yeah, yeah, I am. You're looking hyper today, come here." Alpha yawned. He escorted the trainer towards a grassy meadow, stretching out his bones and limbs to feel refreshed and ready to go to a wintery place.

"So, you see, Mt. Oktori's over there." Alpha pointed to a large mountain that was incredibly far beyond the ranger outpost. "To get there, we'll be riding this." His finger moved to a small vehicle that contained a motorcycle and a small cart that was attached to it. It was a vehicle that rangers used to bring trainers to far places like Mt. Oktori.

He sat on the motorcycle, patting on the cart, which meant that the trainer should get on by now. As the trainer got on the cart, Alpha drove their way to Mt. Oktori. "You must be Roulette, right?" Alpha just had to kill the boredom. A long ride wouldn't be fun at all. The winds brushed his black hair and outfit, waiting for the trainer to reply back. If there was one thing that Alpha won't like in the midst of boredom were shy and quiet people. They really need to get out from their shell sometime.

"A-Anyways, we're getting closer to Mt. Oktori, you'd best prepare yourself." Alpha was the one to talk, he didn't even brought a fire Pokemon for starters. Perhaps he was the one who needed to prepare the most. The mountain was getting bigger and bigger as Alpha drove closer to it. At the top of the mountain, he could see that a large blizzard gusted on the mountain, it seemed like it never ended at all. Knowing that ice Pokemon lived there, Alpha could assume that they were the ones who did all of the winter effects and all.

"Okay, here we are, Mt. Oktori." The vehicled whirred to a stop as Alpha got down from it, along with the trainer. At the base of the mountain was a small cavern mouth that would lead them eventually deeper at the mountain, eventually leading them to the summit. As they went inside the cave, it wasn't very well lit, but Alpha could see some icy rocks and stalagmites that pointed above the ground. It was a bit scary to think that a stalagmite could fall at them anytime. Alpha prayed an incident like that wouldn't happen.

"Smoochum?" a small Pokemon voice cried out at a distance. Alpha hurried to check on the Smoochum and turned around to Roulette. He nodded at him, telling him without words that this Pokemon was his first encounter.

"Want to give it a try?" Alpha asked Roulette.

The motorcycle ride to Mt. Oktori had shaken me up a little, and my legs felt like jello now. We walked into a cave at the base of the mountain that was dimly lit. My ranger and I gazed at the inside of the cave, looking at all the icicles hanging from the ceilings, along with sharp rocks protruding out of the cavern's roof. I looked over at Alpha and noticed that he seemed somewhat worried about them, but we pressed on anyway.

Houndoom didn't seem at all affected by the harsh drop in temperature. I had put him in his pokeball for the ride out, and it was a warm 75 degrees then, but inside this cave it must've been below freezing. I guess being a fire type keeps you warm all the time.

"Houndoom, mind warming my hands a bit?" I asked the pokemon. I had forgotten my gloves, and my hands were beginning to shake. Houndoom blew hot air onto them, making them nice and toasty again.

We walked for awhile, and then Alpha stopped me. We heard a small, squeaky voice up ahead. "Smoochum?" it said. From behind a rock, a tiny pink pokemon with ridiculous blonde hair came out, looking at us curiously.

Alpha turned and nodded to me. "Want to give it a try?" he asked. Seeing my first pokemon was quite a thrill, and I almost couldn't respond.

I looked at the familiar pokemon and almost laughed. I had a Jynx, the evolved form of Smoochum, already, and had caught another Smoochum once before. I had no need for a third, so I decided I would pass this one up.

"Not this one. I've got one already," I said. We watched the funny pokemon as it lost interest in us and walked off. "Wow, I didn't expect to see a pokemon this early in the run. Alright, now where to?"

Roulette declined the chance of battling Smoochum, and here, Alpha thought that he was going to get psyched to battle Smoochum. Turns out, Alpha's predictions were often wrong. "Alright, now where to?" Alpha looked at Roulette and nodded. He made a gesture that explained to follow him, as Roulette did so.

Deeper in the cave, it seemed to get brighter and brighter as they continued to walk inside. Suddenly, sights of large boulders on the sides began to appear. It looked like this part of the cave was used for training and such. Who knows? Alpha ignored the clues, leading Roulette deeper once more. The silence was freaking Alpha out, like a bunch of Froslass might come and ambush them sooner.

"This boulder stuff is getting in the way." Alpha stopped because there was a large boulder that prevented them from going deeper. He went closer to the boulder, pressing his ear on it until a small quake occured at the other side of the boulder.

A small bluish green Pokemon smashed the boulder into pieces, tossing Alpha onto one side of the cave. Dizzy enough, he placed his hand on his head so that he could prevent himself from getting dizzier. "T-the M-M-Machop seems fierce." Alpha shaked his head. "Want to battle it?"

The Machop made a fighting stance, making sure that it was all pepped up and ready for a fight. Apparently, Alpha was not the one to make decisions with regards to battles so he waited for Roulette's reply.

As we walked past the place where we had seen Smoochum, the cave got more and more intriguing. The walls seemed to be brighter now, I assume because of the ice. I felt somewhat calm and comfortable in the cave, but I glanced over at Alpha again, and he seemed nervous. But, I trusted the ranger, and kept walking.

While we went deeper into the cave, random groups of boulders were littered around it. Suddenly, as Alpha neared a boulder, it was crushed into a thousand pieces by a small pokemon. The pokemon causing the madness was small, and had things on his head that resembled fins. Though it was tiny, it seemed to have huge muscles. I recognized it as a Machop, a fighting type.

Alpha recovered from getting hit by the rocks, and looked up at me. "T-the M-m-Machop looks fierce! Want to battle it?"

I took another look at the rock-smashing pokemon, and decided that it was worthy of capture. "Sure thing," I replied. I now looked at Houndoom, who was looking at the Machop anxiously. "Houndoom, I know you have a type disadvantage here, but how about fighting it for me?"

Houndoom obviously didn't want to, but he obeyed and stepped in front of me, growling at the Machop. The little bluish-green pokemon noticed that he was in for a battle, and stopped what he was doing. He clapped his hands together, and took a fighting stance at Houndoom.

"Alright, Houndoom, see those rocks and icicles hanging from the ceiling? I want you to use Strength on the wall to knock them down. Hopefully some will land on the Machop!" I shouted to my pokemon.

Houndoom nodded and braced for impact. He closed his eyes, and rammed a shoulder into the wall beside him. The powerful attack shook the cavern, and the icicles began to shake a bit, not falling. The larger stalactites barely budged.

"Hm, try for one more!" I said, disappointed that my plan hadn't work so well. Houndoom used Strength a second time, this time causing the icicles to fall, even knocking a few of the bigger rocks down with them. Houndoom and I watched in suspense as the pointed spears fell towards the pokemon.

Judging by the looks of the scared Houndoom at the Machop, Alpha could say that the nature of Roulette's Houndoom was Careful. If he was right, then Roulette shouldn't focus on attacking head on, but instead, he should try and incorporate the surroundings or play defensively.

"Alright, Houndoom, see those rocks and icicles hanging from the ceiling? I want you to use Strength on the wall to knock them down. Hopefully some will land on the Machop!" Roulette commanded.

"Not bad for a newbie," Alpha thought. He was still right, though. For once, he thought carefully of his Pokemon's nature and strategized based on that.

Houndoom nodded as it braced itself for impact, ramming itself towards an icicle that hanged above the ground. Quickly, it fell towards Machop, but it dodged out of the way. Luckily, it struck Machop on one of its legs, causing damage. It seemed like the Machop was calm enough to know what its doing. Before Houndoom could ram itself on another icicle the second time around, Machop's fists glowed and dashed towards Houndoom. It barraged Houndoom with series of punches using Close Combat, but this would lower its defenses.

"Be careful, Roulette!" Alpha shouted at a distance. He could still see the battle pretty well though, and so far, things were going to Machop's favor. If Roulette wanted to win this thing, he would need to strategize, not only with Houndoom's nature, but with Machop's as well.

Machop leaped backwards and readied itself for another attack. Roulette had better know what it was doing. If he didn't then the Machop could totally take advantage of the situation.

We watched the Icicles fall to the floor of the cave, shattering. Machop saw this as well, and dodged out of the way, but while he rolled to safety, an icicle caught him in the leg. The pokemon gripped his leg in pain, but soon recovered.

Machop's fist glowed now, and he began charging at Houndoom. I could see that the pokemon was angry now by the look in his eyes. He launched a powerful assault on Houndoom, who took the hit hard. My pooch staggered back and shook his head; the attack had caught him off guard.

After the attack, Machop let his arms fall to his sides. He was breathing heavily, trying to regain some energy after that powerful attack. I knew that his defenses were lower now, and I figured that now would be a great time to attack.

"Houndoom, he's weak now, try to hit him with a full powered Flamethrower!" I shouted at Houndoom.

My pokemon didn't hesitate. He was angry at the Machop now, and wanted battle. Houndoom wasn't usually one to initiate battles, but if he was in one, he took it completely seriously, and didn't stop until he had won.

Houndoom didn't blast the pokemon with flames right away. Instead, he leapt to his right, and onto a boulder. Not expecting this, the Machop watched Houndoom in horror. Having a higher altitude now, and a better vantage point against his opponent, Houndoom's mouth began to glow orange as it filled with fire. His mouth could hold the flames no more, and he unleashed them towards the Machop.

"No!!" Alpha yelled in disappointment, but it was too late.

"Houndoom, he's weak now, try to hit him with a full powered Flamethrower!" Roulette raged. Even though he thought that Houndoom was mad, it still didn't want to do attacks directly. He should've acted that could prevent Machop from attacking instead of damaging it entirely. Oh well, nothing beats an enraged trainer. Machop expected Roulette to be angry, smiling at them.

Houndoom, disappointed a bit, walked towards Machop, opening its mouth and released a swirl of large flames that would envelop the Machop in flames. "Wow, never knew that would happen." After the disappointed dog used Flamethrower, the Machop was glowing with a red color. The attack actually scarred and burned Machop. Still, the attack didn't do much since Houndoom was careful.

"I remember the times I acted like that as well," Alpha thought, reminiscing the times that he used to visit the park by himself. When Alpha would get angry, he would disregard his Pokemon's nature and attack whoever he was battling directly.

After executing Flamethrower, Houndoom went down on its knees. "Roulette, you may not have seen it, but Machop used Vacuum Wave while it was covered with Houndoom's Flamethrower." He was actually telling the truth. While Machop was covered with flames, it spun around until it reached its desired speed as it struck Houndoom's leg using Vacuum Wave.

Machop leaned backwards once more and created a stance that made it look like its gathering power. An orange aura covered Machop, using Focus Energy. If it manages to land the next move at Houndoom, he would be in severe trouble.

"Don't mess up the next turn, Roulette! Act defensively!" Alpha reminded Roulette so he will not do anything wrong the next time he would launch an attack.

"No!" I heard Alpha shout behind me. Oh, great, what have I done?

Flames engulfed Machop, and seemed like they would've prevented the pokemon from acting, but for some reason Houndoom fell to his knees. Houndoom struggled to get up, and Machop, scarred and red, looked on, pleased with what he had somehow done.

I looked over to Alpha questioningly. "Roulette, you may not have seen it, but Machop used Vacuum Wave while it was covered with Houndoom's Flamethrower," he said. It seemed hard to believe, but Machop was obviously tough. Tough enough to attack even while being attacked.

Now I watched as the pokemon took a powerful stance. It looked as if it were flexing its muscles, and orange energy was floating around him. It looked like fireflies were flying around him, but I knew that it was actually his Focus Energy attack. If I didn't do something smart this turn, Houndoom could be in serious trouble. I knew that I couldn't just use my most powerful moves and expect Machop to go down. I had to use strategy.

"Would a different move be the key?" I thought to myself. "Maybe if I use something unorthodox, I could trick him..."

My thoughts were interrupted by Alpha's voice. "Don't mess up the next turn, Roulette! Act defensively!" he said.

"Defensively!" I thought to myself. I hadn't thought of using a defensive tactic. Perhaps attacking wasn't always the right thing to do. I judged the situation, and tried to remember the moves that Houndoom had learned. Machop was about to be at full power from the looks of him, and that made me pressed for time. Then a thought occurred to me, "What good is a strong attack if it can't hit me?".

"Alright, Houndoom, I have a plan. That Machop is getting stronger, and one more strong attack might be the end of you. I need you to use Smog to make some smoke in here. Hopefully that will disorient Machop, and cause him not to see as well! Quickly, before it attacks, puff out some smoke!" I shouted.

Houndoom looked at me, confused. He had never been ordered to do something like this before. Houndoom wasn't a defensive pokemon, so this tactic was new to him, but it seemed like a good plan, and he trusted me, so he executed it anyway. He breathed deeply, drawing in a lot of air. Internally, he added fire to the air, and when he blew it back out, it came in the form of a thick smoke. Houndoom was basically a chimney now, and the cavern quickly filled with smog, so that Alpha and I had to cover our faces.

As Houndoom puffed out plume after plume of smoke and gas, I glanced over at the Machop who seemed to be absorbing the last of his power. I watched intently to see what it might do to Houndoom.

Alpha was getting happier when Roulette had thought of a decent plan, a defensive one. "I need you to use Smog to make some smoke in here. Hopefully that will disorient Machop, and cause him not to see as well! Quickly, before it attacks, puff out some smoke!" Roulette quickly commanded.

"Good thinking, Roulette!" Alpha was still shouting at a distance, hiding behind a large boulder. Houndoom huffed and puffed a thick black smoke that distracted Machop. The fighting Pokemon coughed as the burn damaged it slowly. Machop's hand glowed brightly, trying to aim a Dynamic Punch at Houndoom. It jumped into the air, its eyes closed, and furiously punched at whatever was in front of it. "That's definitely got to hurt." Machop had just punched one of the stalagmites above it, then it fell to the ground along with Machop.

The recoil damage was severe, punching like that. It even managed to double the power because of its ailment, sadly, that only lead Machop to more trouble.

"What a thick smoke," Alpha said as he closed his eyes and coughed up some smoke. Eventually the sight was clear to be seen. He stood from where he sat and approached Roulette, patting him on his shoulder. "Good job," Alpha congratulated Roulette. But they shouldn't rejoice just yet. Machop tried to get back up on its knees, trying to put up a fight with Houndoom.

This part of the cavern was damaged already, with lots of rocks and icy pieces scattered at the ground. At this rate, just stepping at them would damage them. Hopefully Houndoom would act according to its nature while it attacked Machop defensively.

"If you want to attack defensively, try attacking while setting up barriers to prevent Machop from countering Houndoom!" Alpha adviced Roulette.

Machop was storing power once more, using Focus Energy. This time, the energy was intense, Alpha could feel it. Should Machop launch another attack, it could totally weaken Houndoom. If Roulette wanted to capture this Machop, he should play defensively. Not only by setting up traps and such, but he could always try to attack while protecting the Pokemon from counter attacks.

Houndoom puffed out a huge cloud of smoke, which filled up the cave. I watched Machop, and to my relief, the plan seemed to work! Machop was looking around, disoriented, and he had to cover his face to keep from breathing in the fumes. While he waited, deciding what to do, the burn he had received earlier was slowly hurting him even more. Finally, Machop decided to act, and his hand grew bright again. He launched a powerful Dynamic Punch blindly through the smoke, hoping to hit Houndoom.

Instead of reaching the target, we watched as Machop's fist smashed into a rock above, causing massive damage to the pokemon, and the area around it as well. Machop fell to the ground in agony, as the burn had caused even more damage.

"What a thick smoke," said Alpha from behind me. He coughed a bit, and I felt a hand on my shoulder. The smog was clearing now, and Machop was crawling back to his feet. "Good job," said Alpha. I was proud that I had made the right decision this time.

Now that the smoke was gone, I saw that the cave had suffered quite a bit of damage. The floor was almost like an obstacle course now, with shards of rock and ice covering it. If a pokemon was to fall on that, or even step on it, they would be in for some pain. Houndoom, being careful anyway, saw this as well, and chose his foot placement carefully. He was agile and limber, and hopped nimbly between spots without many shards of ice on them.

We looked up at the Machop now, who seemed to be storing energy again. "If you want to attack defensively, try attacking while setting up barriers to prevent Machop from countering Houndoom!" said Alpha.

I pondered my options. I could go for another attack now, but Machop was catching on quickly. The shards of ice stuck up like glass from the cavern's floor, and made it hard to navigate. The odds of landing a good attack were slim, and I noticed how weak the Machop seemed to be now. The burn was wearing away at him, and his health was nearly depleted. His defenses were still lowered from his first powerful attack as well.

"You know, Alpha, I think I'm ready to catch this thing," I said, reaching into my bag. I pulled out a parkball that I had purchased earlier today at the park's shop. Holding it tightly in my hand, I reared back and tossed it at the Machop.

The shards rested on the ground, making anyone who saw it cautious enough to avoid it. Luckily, Alpha was right beside Roulette, cheering him for the successful capture of Machop. "If you want to attack defensively, try attacking while setting up barriers to prevent Machop from countering Houndoom!" Roulette strategized.

Proving its nature, Houndoom walked carefully, avoiding every bits of shards on the ground. Roulette hastily grabbed a Park Ball from his pocket, clicked the small button in the middle to enlarge it and threw at it towards Machop.

"That's good, catch it real and slow." Alpha grasped Roulette's shoulder tightly as the Park Ball flew towards the Machop.

The ball wiggled once, twice, thrice, and finally it firmed into place. Machop was caught.

"Yahoo!" Alpha rejoiced, jumping for joy, ran in circles as he stepped on the shards. "Ow, not a good idea!!" Alpha ran back towards Roulette, wiping off the shards on his shoes.

"So, want to press forward?" Alpha asked like nothing happened.

The ball zapped Machop inside, and fell to the ground with a thud. It twitched once, then again, but finally it was still. The ball clicked shut, and I had made my first capture in the park! I was incredibly excited at that moment, but I tried to hide it a little. I looked over at Alpha and he seemed to be more excited than I was. He hopped around, shouting but soon stepped on some of the fallen ice shards. I tried not to laugh as he walked back to where we had been standing, raking ice from the bottom of his shoes.

"So, want to press forward?" Alpha asked, seeming to have already forgotten about the ice shard incident.

I walked over to where my parkball had landed, careful not to step on any ice, and picked up my newly captured pokemon. I threw the ball into my bag and turned back to Alpha. "Of course I am, which way do we go from here?"

"Of course I am," Roulette seemed to be happier than ever because of his first capture inside the park. "Which way do we go from here?" he immediately asked.

Alpha pointed his skinny index finger at the place where the Machop chopped the large boulder into pieces. "That way," he said, guiding Roulette as both of them marched forward towards deeper into the cave. The stalagmites above the ground were getting lesser and lesser--and darker as well. They kept on walking at the icy cave when the gusts of chilling winds suddenly met their paths.

"We must be near the exit," Alpha commented, crossing his arms near his chest to prevent himself from getting cold.

They kept on walking until a blinding light was seen from afar. Alpha raised its left hand to cover its eyes from the light and pointed the right hand at it, signaling that they must be near the exit. All of a sudden, a small humanshape silhouette blocked the light.

"Let's hurry and approach that silhouette!" Alpha connoted, grabbing Roulette's arm and rushed at the strange figure.

They rushed at the figure until it formed a bluish shape with a white head and arms. The Meditite looked fierce enough to put on a fight. "Be careful, we're at the other side of the cavern. Another cavern mouth," Alpha warned Roulette.

"That way," said Alpha, pointing towards the area where my newly captured Machop had come from.

We walked through the cave, and as we progressed, the cave walls became smoother, and more and more natural light filled it. Wind was gusting through the cavern now, and we could hear it whipping about outside.

"We must be near the exit," said Alpha. He was hugging himself now, trying to stay warm. We seemed to have climbed in elevation through the cave as well, so the air outside was sure to be frigid. I was beginning to think that my small windbreaker wasn't going to keep me as warm as I would like.

We approached the exit of the cave, and saw that snow and hail was coming in through the exit. Alpha put his hand in front of his face to keep snow and light out of his eyes. I tipped my hat down a bit, and brought a scarf out of my bag. I wrapped it tightly around my neck, and pulled it up around the lower half of my face. Suddenly, a silhouette appeared at the exit. It looked like a shadow of a human, but was only the size of a small child.

"Let's hurry and approach that silhouette!" said Alpha. We rushed over towards it, and got a clearer look as to what it was. It inched closer to us, and we could see that it was a blue and white pokemon that looked as if it was wearing a diaper. It had a mushroom-like head, and tiny limbs. I recognized the pokemon as a Meditite.

We were out by the exit of the cave now, and the mouth of the cavern was small and crowded. Though the Meditite was small, it seemed to fill the mouth of the cave. It seemed to notice us, but I couldn't tell if it wanted to fight, or simply pass us by.

"Be careful, we're at the other side of the cavern. Another cavern mouth," said Alpha, making sure that I was aware of my surroundings. I looked at him, and he was looking at me, as if asking if I wanted to battle the pokemon. I had just captured a Machop, another fighting type, and had no real need for this pokemon. I looked at my battle-weakened Houndoom who was eying his surroundings. He didn't seem to like the enclosed area for battling, and stepped behind me, telling me that he didn't want to fight again.

That was all I needed to know. "Let's keep moving, Alpha. Houndoom doesn't seem to keen on fighting this one, and I don't need this particular pokemon. I want to see what's outside this cave," I said to the ranger, pointing outside. "But first, I'd like to use this fragrance I bought from the park shop. It's a soothing fragrance super," I said, pulling the bottle from my bag.

"Let's keep moving, Alpha. Houndoom doesn't seem to keen on fighting this one, and I don't need this particular pokemon. I want to see what's outside this cave," Roulette insisted as Alpha nodded with a silent nod. "But first, I'd like to use this fragrance I bought from the park shop. It's a soothing fragrance super," Roulette added, grabbing a bottle from his bag and sprayed it on his body.

"The smell isn't that fragrant, yet it attracts the Pokemon somehow." Alpha shrugged, trying to ignore the weird scent that the bottle had made. They went outside the cavern to see that the place outside was covered with snow. The glistening white snow was mixed with the wind to form strong breezes that could make anyone shiver. In front of them was a large frozen pond that looked like it would never be thawed ever again. "That's a freaky pond," Alpha noted.

The trees that stood on the ground had no leaves at all--the trees must be dead to begin with. Its branches were icy white and ice needles fell from the tip of its branches, which somehow served as the leaves of the trees.

"Spheal!" a small blue Pokemon rolled towards Alpha, hitting him gently on his right foot. He looked down to see that the Spheal was now rolling towards Roulette.

Alpha opened its back and grabbed a pair of warm gloves, a thick scarf, and a bonnet made of thick wool to prevent Alpha from getting frostbites. "Y-you gonna b-battle the S-Spheal?" Alpha was beginning to shiver. He hoped that he would warm himself down eventually.

I sprayed the liquid all around my body and pokemon. The fumes didn't smell great to me, but Houndoom seemed to love it. He barked and spun around in circles upon taking a whiff of the fragrance. Once I had emptied the bottle, I placed the empty container in my bag. Houndoom was normally calm and collected, but now that we had sprayed this, he was excited.

"The smell isn't that fragrant, yet it attracts the Pokemon somehow," said Alpha. He was right. Even though it wasn't strong, and didn't smell great to humans, pokemon seemed to love it.

We began walking outside now, and the snow crunched beneath us. We reached a placid area next, where the wind and snow were whipping around violently. A small, frozen pond was there, and it seemed like it had been frozen for many years.

"That's a freaky pond," said Alpha, looking at the water. I nodded my head in agreement and kept walking.

We continued on, now seeing trees around us, when we heard something coming towards us. It was the sound of crunching snow, but it wasn't on and off like when someone steps on it, it was continuous. Suddenly, little round pokemon popped onto the path ahead of us. It was blue with a furry, white belly, and had big, bulging eyes. It had a goofy look on its face as well. The happy little pokemon looked up at us and said "Spheal!".

Alpha wasn't surprised or alarm at the pokemon's sudden appearance. He reached into his bag, retrieving several articles of clothing. He looked up and said, "Y-you gonna b-battle the S-Spheal?" shivering.

I looked the pokemon over, and it reminded me of the Walrein that I already had. "Nah, I've got a Walrein already. Let's keep moving through the trees up ahead," I said as Alpha and I kept moving past the Spheal.

"Nah, I've got a Walrein already. Let's keep moving through the trees up ahead," Roulette insisted as Alpha agreed in return.

They passed the Spheal already when Alpha felt sudden quakes on the ground--both of them were only two or three steps away from the Spheal when they felt the quakes. The Spheal rolled itself away from the epicenter of the quakes as Alpha and Roulette walked a few steps back. Alpha folded its arms to its chest and prepared to know the Pokemon that was causing the not-that-strong quakes.

"Swine!" a Pokemon that was covered with brown fur roared its name out. Even though the stomp was intense, it wasn't able to make a single scratch or mark on the frozen pond, which the Piloswine was standing on.

"Wow, that's a large Pokemon," Alpha noted. He was starting to feel like just because they had gotten outside of the cave, it meant more dangerous Pokemon ahead such as the Piloswine that both of them were currently encountering.

The icy winds breezed over the thick furs of the Piloswine, but it seemed like it was totally nothing to it. The coldness of the air was no more than gentle winds to its skin--its fur was probably designed to make Piloswine withstand the severe gusts of winds. It stood fearless on the ground as Alpha stood still and tried to see where Piloswine's eyes were.

"If I were you, I wouldn't battle this humungousaur," Alpha teased the Piloswine, but he only whispered it on Roulette's ear. "Battling it still depends on you, though," Alpha added.

We walked past the cute pokemon, and through the trees again. We hadn't been walking for too long when we suddenly felt tremors shaking the ground beneath us. We heard heavy breathing and stomping around us, and suddenly a massive brown beast jumped out in front of us. It roared at us, and pointed its tusks at us. The huge pokemon was clearly a Piloswine.

"Wow, that's a large Pokemon," said Alpha, in awe. It didn't seem happy that we were disturbing it. It looked aggressive, and I know that I didn't want to make it angry. "If I were you, I wouldn't battle this humungousaur"

I thought about what he was saying, and had to agree. This pokemon was gigantic, and could easily defeat most of my pokemon. If I messed up now, I would have to cut my run short, catching only one pokemon.

However, if I managed to catch Piloswine, it would be a valuable asset to my team. I was the Ice Dojo Sensei, and a Mamoswine would help my lineup a lot, but if things went right over the next few weeks, I'd be getting a Swinub anyway. I made up my mind.

"L-let's get out of here, Alpha," I said, looking at my nervous ranger. "I don't want to get us hurt out here."

OOC: Normally I would take a Piloswine lol, but I already have a story for a Swinub, and I've only got one Hyper Ball. That's really the only reason I passed it up.
