Individual RP: Rage Baron

Raphael sighed an annoyed sigh. The Kricketune meant business. Its opponent didn't.

Raphael pulled out a wad of cash, and threw it at Timpeni.

"How about one of those Pokedolls?"

I threw the Pokedoll at the Kricketune. It took the shape of a Kricketot, and Kricketune's instinct kicked in, running after the doll, using the back of Momo as a launching pad. I sighed in relief and pocketed the money. Now that was over. So KrickeTUNE may not have a very nice melody in stall for all trainers. It was hard to believe one town actually had a singing contest for these Kricketunes every year. Now what was the name of the town again...? I didn't have much of a chance to think about it.

A Scyther was flying closeby, looking at Momo curiously. Apparently, Momo was talking to the Scyther too. "Do you want to battle this Scyther?" I asked Rapheal as Scyther turned to look at us too. I was more interested in Momo, though. Perhaps it was due to the fact trainer came here often, but not all humans brought along a Togekiss.

A Scyther. A large, speedy mantis with blade for arms. Raphael had not come into the park for one of these, but he found the beast's allure hard to resist. It was quite clearly above his skill level, but it was rather hard to resist.

The beast was definitely interested in Timpeni's Togekiss. An idea popped into Raphael's head.

He drew a Pokeball and popped it open. A flash of red light, then Scratch, Raphael's new Togepi, appeared on the ground. It looked around a bit, noticed the Scyther in the distance, and waved and smiled at the stranger. The Scyther, obviously taken by surprise, waved back.

Scratch then turned around, saw his owner, and smiled an even warmer smile.

"Good to see you, too, Scratch," greeted Raphael. A brief smile of his own appeared, then quickly faded. "Now, about Scyther. I want you to Yawn, then follow up with a Sweet Kiss."

 

OOC: Gender? And you might want to up your character count a bit, or this battle will be reeeeeaaaally long.

Togepi was an interesting battle choice for a Scyther. But it was nicer than most that I knew, so it probably won't hurt the little spike ball too much. It was even waving at the Togepi. I wonder how it learned that waving was a good gesture. Either from Scratch just doing it or from humans like us. Either way, it didn't matter. Rapheal was going to battle the bug.

"Now, about Scyther. I want you to Yawn, then follow up with a Sweet Kiss." Immediately, a cloud of pink gas bubbles floated out of his mouth. Scyther, probably not having seen the move before, popped the bubbles with its blade. It also didn't know hat bubbles could pop, which is probably why it jumped back in fright as one disappeared. Just then, the other flooded towards its face, popping simultaneously. A slow yawn emitted from Scyther.

Scratch then put his hand against his lips before making a 'Muah' sound, and little pink hearts floated out. Scyther knew this move, and set up its defenses. It crossed the blades it possessed at its chest, and holding them up to the sky, revealing a mound of green energy. The energy enveloped Scyther, and the little hearts dissolved as it touched the energy. But Scyther sill yawned...

Safeguard? Raphael thought. Just what I needed. It was, for a lack of a better term, a completely wasted move.

The Yawn method would not be useful again for a little while, and while the Scyther seemed friendly enough, it was still quite focused on the battle, or so it seemed.

This is gonna be a long one, thought Raphael. Now is as good a time as any. He pulled out a bottle and sprayed it all over the battlefield. He saw the Scyther loosening its tension. Scratch was as well, but that made little difference in Raphael's eyes. Scratch was never the more stressful type.

Raphael began to think fairly on his strategy. No sleeping, no confusion. This isn't going to be easy... He lost himself in his thoughts.

It was about this time that Scratch found himself started to get a little bored. He walked over to his large, green opponent, sat down, and start chirping. The Scyther barked back in confusion, then started barking just as much.

When Raphael got his plan all sorted out, he regained awareness of what was going on around him. A few feet away, Scratch and Scyther were striking up a conversation. Scratch pointed at Raphael, chirped a few times, and both Pokemon burst out laughing.

Raphael glanced at Timpeni and Momo on the sidelines. They were both laughing as well, a laugh that was somewhere between a chuckle and a giggle.

He turned back towards the friendly opponents. "Scratch! Get back here!" Scratch looked towards his owner, chirped a couple last chirps, and then returned a bit. Scyther was snorting a bit, holding back a few guffahs.

"Scratch," Raphael said to the widely-grinning Togepi, "here's what you're gonna do. I want you to use Charm, then follow up with an AncientPower. You got that?"

OOC: No, all natures are pre-rolled. After all, cautious Pokemon don't make friends with a Pokemon that it hasn't seen before like in ever. XD

After a few moments of laughter and a good kick in the karma from myself for giggling madly during a battle, I stopped my silliness as my stomach ached from the air wanting to escape but unable to. Sometimes, having your Pokemon translate something wasn't the best thing. But, oh god was it funny. Soon, Rapheal was commanding his Pokemon to use Charm and Ancient Power. Momo always found Ancient Power hard to perform, despite being a Togekiss now. Was that the best choice for a young Togepi?

The rocks from the ground rose up, slowly ascending. It took some time as Momo was a bit high up, but the moment the glowing rocks reached they were thrown forward at Scyther. The groggy Pokemon wasn't up to his dodging and had the rocks hit it hard. After looking up again, Scratch was making sure it looked extra cute in front of Scyther. The bug wanted to hug the little spike balk but knew it wasn't the best idea. Scyther slowly approached before slashing Scratch with a few Fury Swipes, though he took extra care to not cut too hard.

Just then, a yawn was heard before Scyther fell asleep. I checked my MoveDex, only to learn that Yawn still takes effect if Safeguard is used after it. I told Rapheal, who was originally thinking otherwise about the move.

"Really?" inquired Raphael. A look of genuine surprise appeared on his face, the first time this whole trip.

Scratch was also taken by surprise. He walked up to his slumbering opponent and after a moment of hesitation, tapped the Scyther lightly on the head. The Togepi had a a few scratches on his shell from the attack, but was not much hurt. Fitting, considering his name was Scratch.

Still, thought Raphael, it wouldn't hurt to heal a bit. With the giant mantis sleeping soundly, likely for another few minutes, it was safe enough to attempt a healing move.

Scratch was still inspecting the Scyther when the green beast gave a loud, snort-like yawn. Scratch was taken by surprise, stumbled backwards half a foot, and landed on his derriere. He looked puzzled for a moment, blinked, and started laughing at himself. A scare like that was not enough to ruin Scratch's good mood.

Raphael watched the Togepi laugh, before addressing it: "Okay, Scratch. Healing time. Wish, then a Safeguard, just in case."

Scratch turned around, nodded, and got up. This would not be much a problem.

 

Scratch glowed a vibrant blue. The energy welled up before it was ejected off his body and into a blue ball that now surrounded him. Now, Scratch was free from any Status Ailments that may come flying his way. Now it was time to use Wish.

A beautiful white halo appeared over Scratch as he chanted. The halo followed wherever Scratch moved, and was drawing closer and closer to his head. It would be a minute or two before the halo would touch Scratch's head and the precious energy would be absorbed into his body.

At this point, Raphael was starting to run out of ideas. The Scyther was clearly far above his skill level, and was not even close to being ready to be captured. It would be a while until the Scyther would be convinced enough to succumb to a Pokeball,or even a Hyper Ball.

He figured it would be a fine time to run, but the Scyther might wake up at any moment. Knowing the Scyther's personality, it would probably be disappointed that its opponent ran off without a fair fight. He had to give the Scyther as good a fight as he could muster.

An idea suddenly popped into Raphael's brain. A fairly clever idea, he admitted, more than most of his. It was a rather simple plan, but it would work.

The Togepi known as Scratch was picking at weeds. With his opponent sleeping and his Trainer attempting to come u with decent strategies, there was little else he do.

"Scratch!" shouted Raphael, drawing out a pair of Pokeballs. The Pokemon turned around. "Baton Pass, right now."

 

Scratch turned its back and looked at Rapheal. The moment the command was issued, the weeds dropped and Scratch was glowing white. Vice was sent out, and a beam of light connected the two. A brilliant flash of white clashed with red as Scratch disappeared into his ball. When Vice was visible after the flash faded away, a veil of green energy and a halo inching closer was now possessed by him. A surge of pain rushed through Vice, and a wince was heard.

The halo touched Vice's head, and split into many halos, encircling Vice. The halos were all absorbed into Vice's body, and Vice felt power rushing through his body. For now, he was fully healed. For now.

Meanwhile, Scyther snored away, the veil that surrounded him now fading. Slowly but surely, Scyther was resurfacing into consciousness, but not yet. It would still be some time.

"Feeling good, Vice?" asked Raphael. The Houndoom turned to his Trainer and gave a faint smirk. It was still poisoned, but it felt much better than it did beforehand.

"Alright, Vice, let's get this over with. Nasty Plot and Flamethrower." Vice poised himself to attack.

 

"What..."

The flames flared as menacingly as Vice's eyes. It was clear Rapheal has given up on capture and now attacking the Scyther full-on. It wasn't a surprise that when Vice stopped his attack, Scyther was already knocked out, a few flames still flickering on top of it. Since it was knocked out, the Safeguard effect was gone. I grabbed a water bottle and put out the remaining flames- I didn't want the Scyther to feel it when it wakes up. I looked at Rapheal and back at Momo. Looks like it was time to go from now.

"I... guess we leave now-" I was stopped by a noise of rustling from the bushes. "Something's there. Want to see what it is, or do you want to get out of here?"
