    ---

I was lazing around in my armchair; munching on a packet of Doritos, while watching Gossip Girls on the internet. I did realized that have been buzz around in the URPG community lately; what with my losses in Nacrene Gym while watching some stupid soap opera on the television. I needed to change that bad habit...

Suddenly, I was interrupted by a popup notification on the computer; notifying me that there was a new expedition up for grabs. The Park HQ had worked in a first-come-first-serve basis. For any new trainers that had signed up, it is to be opened to anyone that had saw and posted a claiming post first. I quickly opened up the notification - considering that I was quite free since holidays had just started and I had no current expeditions. To my surprise, I noticed that it was Pidge, whom had registered under the name - Zoa.

I quickly clicked the 'Accept' button, since I was looking for an expedition to ranger for, and I felt that this expedition would be quite interesting with Zoa's battling skills. It was still early however, as we were supposed to meet at 2pm and it was only 12pm now. I decided to go over to Mt. Deckbi first, since I had actually some assignments to do over there still. I was given the task of checking the conditions of the active volcano at Mt. Deckbi, but I have been quite busy lately. Hopefully, the delay in time of checking wouldn't have mattered much.

I took my bag, along with the many different healing items and Pokedolls, and my six chosen Pokemon along with me. Even though my role was as a ranger, it was safer to just bring all six of them, in case I needed to use my Pokemon. Just as I was about to leave, my phone suddenly rang and the caller identification data had written Bumblebee.

"Hey Ataro, I'm Leo! Want to join the other rangers at lunch?" He asked.

I was initially confused for a bit, but not too surprised. Bumblebee always had a split personality disorder, and though it didn't really affect much; he had identified himself as many different individuals, such as Leo and Cameron. From what he asked, I was reminded that I haven't even had lunch actually. I didn't want to miss the great time, but I had a task on hand. On second thoughts, I figured I could just check the volcano later on, since it was on the way because I was going to bring Zoa into Mt. Deckbi.

    ***

It was nearly 2pm now. Once we had finished lunch and after the joking and gossiping amongst the rangers, I then made my way over to Mt. Deckbi. Luckily, the restaurant that we had dined at wasn't too far away from Mt. Deckbi, so it took me a relatively short time to reach here. I waited patiently for Zoa to arrive.

"Okay Togekiss, finish that Electivire with Extremespeed!"

Togekiss expressed a mischievous smirk as it heard this command. It then disappeared...

But it didn't actually disappear! Togekiss was moving so fast that there was no way of telling exactly where it was. It appeared to be right in front of the opposing Electivire one moment, and then to the left of it, and then to the right of it, and then to the left of it again. The Electivire frantically looked in each direction to defend itself. However, the Togekiss then 'appeared' meters above it, unknown to Electivire, and dived right towards it. Togekiss sliced Electivire with one of its wings as it descended head first, and then made an L-turn to fly upright toward its trainer, having slowed down. The Electivire fell.

"Good game! And good work Togekiss!"

The Electivire trainer looked shocked that his full team of Pokemon lost to a single Normal/Flying Pokemon.

"Uh, I'll leave you here to weep..."

Zoa looked at his phone. It was 1:50 PM, almost 2! He had to be at the Mt. Deckbi Ranger Outpost for his first time at the National Park.

"Ugh, I'm going to be late. There's only one way I'll make it there in time... Togekiss return. Go Arceus!"

Zoa send out the God of Pokemon from his Pokeball. It seemed impossible such an awesome Pokemon could fit in a tiny orb. A light of divine nature seemed to shine on Arceus as it took in the surroundings it created eons ago with the help of various other legendary Pokemon.

"Arceus, we need to get somewhere, and quick."

Arceus knew what this meant. It lowered itself a little so is trainer could climb on its back. The ring that enveloped Arceus's torso morphed a little so it resembled a saddle and footholds for Zoa.

"The base of Mt. Deckbi is that way Arceus," Zoa said as he pointed towards a rather volcanic looking mountain.

Arceus galloped rapidly and entered a forest path. As they approached Mt. Deckbi the details of the volcano became clearer. Although it was just the earth's crust molded into a mound, it seemed violent and ready to fight.

Out of nowhere, something popped out of the top of the volcano. It was a huge boulder, and it shot high into the air. Zoa thought nothing of it, and Arceus kept galloping. Minutes later, Zoa and Arceus had reached the outpost. However, right before the trainer was about to get off Arceus, he noticed a large circular shadow under Arceus and himself. He looked up, it was the boulder, or rather, a Golem, and it was going to crash right onto Zoa and Arceus. Zoa yawned.

    "Arceus, Gravity."

Arceus started glowing purple and Zoa seemed to be floating slightly on Arceus's saddle. The Golem was half a meter above Zoa's head before it suddenly stopped falling due to Arceus's move. Zoa could see the eyes of Golem and it blinked in confusion. Arceus's then grew bored with the rock of a Pokemon and tossed it into a nearby tree with a movement of its head. The Gravity move then ceased.

"Good job Arceus, expect more later," Zoa said as he returned Arceus to its Pokeball

Zoa then casually walked into the outpost and said he had an appointment with a man named Ataro. It was exactly 2:00 PM.

    Ranger Ataro

    ---

While waiting, I figured I would send out a Pokemon to accompany me during the run. After all, it could get lonely during the expedition, since trainers had a tendency to not communicate much during an expedition. Psychic-type Pokemon were the craze in the Park lately - many rangers had preferred to bring along a Psychic-type Pokemon; even trainers in fact. That was because most Psychic-type Pokemon had the ability to communicate telepathically, as well as reading other people's mind to a certain extent. This was completely situational though, since only trainers whom have developed a certain level of bond had the ability to do that.

In my case, I didn't exactly raise a Psychic-type Pokemon outside of Metagross and Starmie, but had recently received an Alakazam from a good friend called Stinky. Even though I had only just received him, I had knew him since he was Stinky's Pokemon, and the fact that Stinky had entrusted him in my care only served to push up the level of bonding between us two. I would not be surprised if our telepathic bond wasn't as strong as others, but it was something at least. I took out Alakazam's Pokeball and pressed the button to release the Pokemon within; to which a bright flash emitted and transformed into a human-shaped Pokemon.

"Hello Ataro, I'll do my best," and the thoughts of my Alakazam suddenly rang within my head.

I almost wanted to respond verbally, but figured I should try out this telepathic thing, and starting thinking hard on what I had wanted to say. "Hi Alakazam. I'll do my best with this telepathic thing too!" I had almost heard the faint giggle in his voice, but I didn't have much time to think about it, for my trainer had arrived.

I noticed the silhouette of a young man walking in from the east gate, and my instincts told me that that was my trainer. He walked up to me, and he looked pretty decent for the most part. Medium shaggy, charcoal black hair, along with those mystic intimidating dark eyes. He was about the same height as me; albeit slightly taller and muscular, and was wearing shorts and a white t-shirt. I remembered that this was the first time that he was on an expedition, so it should prove interesting as it offers me an insight on a first timer.

There was something mystifying about his scent, but I didn't pursue much about it. I had read from his information that he had possessed an Arceus, but it wasn't too much of a deal to me. The crucial part was whether he knew how to control his Pokemon, and adapt to the various situations and environments in Mt. Deckbi.

"Hi Zoa. Nice to meet you. We can take this straight path forward first - since we don't really have any other choice, and I will explain the rest of the options for the different routes that you can take in Mt. Deckbi, when we've reached the crossroad later," I said briefly. I didn't want to bore him out with too much in-depth information, so I figured we should start exploring as soon as possible. Alakazam nodded and smiled back at Zoa at the same time; as a sign of a greeting and acknowledgement.

We started walking down the barren path; a path that was sandwiched between a mountain valley. The path was completely barren of any plant life; to which still remains a mystery to me. According to my knowledge, areas around volcanic mountains were extremely fertile because of the potent nutrients that are found in the volcanic ash; which rains down onto the soil. This in turn promotes plant life. I wouldn't be surprised if the volcano had just erupted recently, which could thus be a reason for the plant life that had disappeared. Then again, no one talked about it back at headquarters.

The air was thick with dark gray clouds, and the area looked quite dark. In fact, the entire place had almost looked like trouble was brewing, or somewhat like the end of the world. It felt spooky, and yet exciting at the same time. "So do you have any particular Pokemon that you're looking for? Oh and by the way, I had noticed that you had brought along a Type Repellent. Do you want to use it now?" I asked Zoa, while still keeping my eyes on the road.

Suddenly, my attention was snatched away from me, as Alakazam had alerted me telepathically that there was something in front. I looked ahead, and there was indeed something up ahead. A small twister of sandstorm was spiraling by the sides of the road, and it had almost looked unnatural for a sandstorm to be in the middle of nowhere. When we reached closer and I managed to get a closer view, I had noticed that it was a Sandshrew, that was spinning and rotating on the ground to whip up the tiny twister of sandstorm.

    "Interested in a Sandshrew perhaps?"

Zoa glanced at his ranger as he greeted him. His breath smelled of nacho cheese chips, but Zoa thought it would be polite not to mention it. He did not want to fuck :murg: up his first time at the National Park. They made their way down the Mt. Deckbi path on the ugly day. The thick, black haze of the volcano hardly left any room for the sun to shine. Zoa could not help noticing the Alakazam that Ataro had out with him.

    That Alakazam looks familiar.

Before Zoa could ponder more about where he had seen that Alakazam before, Ataro asked him what kind of Pokemon he was looking for and something about a repellent.

"Oh, I think a Litwick or a Drillbur would be neat. Maybe even a Larvesta. And why yes, I do have a repellent. I should use it right now."

Zoa took off his backpack, rummaged through it, and pulled out a large spray container. On the label it read: ROCK TYPE REPELLENT, HKIM BRAND. Zoa then took a Pokeball out from his pocket.

"Blissey, let's be a little creative."

The Blissey popped out of its Pokeball. It was highly contrasting to the atmosphere of Mt. Deckbi. However, despite the conditions, Blissey seemed as happy as ever.

"Hey Blissey, I know this repellent says to apply to my own body, but I also know you can make use of it for all of us even better. Use Aromatherapy so it surrounds me, my new friend Ataro, his Alakazam, and yourself. Fling the repellent in the air, then freeze the container with Ice Beam to make it brittle. Lastly, Rock Smash the frozen repellent container as it falls down so it bursts open and the repellent is carried around us by the Aromatherapy. You're the best, Blissey! I know you can do it."

    "Bliss! Blissey!"

Zoa tossed the repellent container to Blissey, who caught it with one of her tiny hands. She then took out the egg from her pouch with the other hand. Another egg seemed to be growing rapidly in her pouch as soon as she pulled the first one out. She then threw the egg in the air and it smashed into the ground, between Zoa and Ataro. A beautiful scent and flower petal leaves emanated from the egg and soon surrounded the general area of the two humans and two Pokemon. It for sure made the murky scene a little better.

Blissey then Flinged the bottle of repellent above itself. She looked up and shot a thin pillar of ice from her mouth at the repellent, freezing it. As the frozen container fell and approached Blissey's line of sight, she gave it a powerful punch that smashed it open into millions of tiny particles. The particles of repellent then floated throughout the Aromatherapy air.

"Wow Blissey, you did great! Hmmm... I have another task to do as well."

Zoa pulled out a Pokeplayer and a rather odd looking disc. He inserted the disc into the musical device and pressed the play button. The cry of a Litwick played over and over.

"Blissey, use Mimic and try to imitate that cry. Then use Sing. Surely we will run into a Litwick with your amazing skills, Blissey. What can't you do?"

    "Blisss!"

The Blissey listened to the sound of the device over and over. She changed her expression from a jolly one to a concentrated one for a few seconds to learn the sound. She then looked as though she just had an epiphany and started Singing like a Litwick would. The song was gentle and soft, but had a tone of mystery with its reverberating low and high pitches. The group walked as Blissey sang her harmonious tune in the sweet smelling air that covered them. They did not have to move a lot before a Sandshrew showed up.

"A Sandshrew, eh? Well Their skin looks like they are made of bricks, and they are kind of cute, but that's it. I don't think I want one. Let's avoid it, but if we can't, I have this Pokedoll. It's shaped like a cute female Sandshrew."

    ---

When I turned around to face Zoa, he was already holding onto a repellent. I realized that I must have been too concentrated on the Sandshrew that I didn't notice what he was doing. Regardless, he pulled out a Pokeball at the same time, and was going to release his Blissey apparently.

"Blissey, let's be a little creative," said Zoa.

When the Blissey emerged from its Pokeball, it was a huge contrast to the surroundings here. The area was gloomy, and the skies were overcast - even my initial mood was starting to get ruined by the bad weather, but Blissey changed that. It was as if it had a certain radiance and glow to it, that when I saw it, I felt more relieved than ever.

"Bliss! Blissey!" The Blissey responded happily.

I felt kind of impressed with Zoa. He was trying an alternative, instead of doing all the usual things that trainers did - this was a good start. He then tossed the repellent container to Blissey, who caught it with her tiny hands. She raised her hands to take out the egg from her pouch. Though, as soon as it is taken out, another emerged magically. I wasn't surprised however - I knew they had the ability do do that. The Blissey threw the egg into the air and smashed it, and I felt a slight feeling of trepidation suddenly. My Alakazam giggled at me, and I figured that it was reading my thoughts - as I was imagining if there was a Happiny within the egg.

Anyway, the egg smashed onto the ground between us, but a beautiful scent and flora petal leaves emerged from the debris instead; surrounding us with a nice smelling aroma. She didn't stop at that however. She followed up by flinging the bottle of repellent forward, and streamed a thin line of ice from her mouth; freezing the bottle in the process. As it fell, she quickly gave it a powerful punch which smashed the item into million of bits, and the particles within the repellent floated along with the powder of the Aromatherapy around the atmosphere.

"Wow Blissey, you did great! Hmmm... I have another task to do as well," Zoa said again, to my surprise. He pulled out a Pokeplayer and a Voice Disk. With a swift action, he inserted the disc into the recorder device and played it. The cry of a Pokemon soon emitted from the device and echoed loudly through the valleys; whose effect was only magnified because of the reverberation of echoes from the mountain walls. "Blissey, use Mimic and try to imitate that cry. Then use Sing. Surely we will run into a Litwick with your amazing skills, Blissey. What can't you do?"

The Blissey cried out again; as a form of response. I had also just realized that the Voice Disk was of a Litwick. She quickly perked up her ears and listened intently to the sound of the device; and starting singing with a melodious voice. The song was most soothing, and definitely sounded better than the cry of a Voice Disk; even though both voices were actually the same.

"A Sandshrew, eh? Well Their skin looks like they are made of bricks, and they are kind of cute, but that's it. I don't think I want one. Let's avoid it, but if we can't, I have this Pokedoll. It's shaped like a cute female Sandshrew." Zoa said; finally returning his attention to the Sandshrew.

The wild Pokemon, on the other hand, was unfazed. It started spinning closer and closer towards the center of the path. Zoa quickly threw his Pokedoll, since the Sandshrew didn't look like it was satisfied. The Sandshrew-shaped doll was sucked into the whipping twister and it continued spinning itself in the heart of that tiny twister; as if completely oblivious to us now. "I think it's satisfied now. Let's take the opportunity to walk away," I suggested.

I took the lead and brought Zoa forward; away from the Sandshrew. It was still spinning non-stop when I turned around to peek at it, but I couldn't care less. We didn't walk for too long, when we spotted the opening of a cave entrance ahead. This was a straight path, and it seemed to have only led towards the cave. The overview was that of Mt. Deckbi; the active volcanic mountain, and that was probably our final destination anyway. I figured we didn't have much of a choice now ... unless Zoa wants to take the harder route and climb the valleys.

Suddenly, just as I was about to ask Zoa about his choice, yet another Pokemon appeared. I started thinking subconsciously about the coincidence of a wild Pokemon appearing every time I wanted to speak. This time, it wasn't right in front of us. It was on the far side of us; sitting on top of the tall valley, that had seemed to act as a barricade for us now.

"Well, it's no Litwick. But interested in a Gligar?

"A Gligar? Excellent. Gligar will make a great new friend, won't it Blissey?"

    "Bliss!"

"Well we can't become friends if it's all the way there in that valley. We need to make it come over here! However, we should take a defensive measure first, in case that Gligar is a little too excited to be friends. Blissey set up a Reflect, and be sure it really tall and wide so Gligar can't just glide around it, but make sure you leave some miniscule perforations in it."

Blissey waved its hands and a thin, transparent wall began to form. The little sunlight that made its way through the thick atmosphere bounced off the screen, but you could see little beams of light penetrating through the wall, evident of the holes Zoa commanded to create.

"Great, Blissey, those openings in the Reflect will come in handy to filter our moves through without having to attack around it. Now, let's use another Aromtherapy. Release it at your feet. That Gligar won't be able to resist being our new playmate if it smells your Aromatherapy."

The egg that had been growing in Blissey's pouch was now fully grown already. She grabbed it and the egg cycle begun again. Blissey cheerily tossed the egg slightly above herself and then seemed overjoyed even more when it crashed into the ground. A different fragrance than last time opened out of the egg, as well as flower petals from a different species of flower.

"Good so far Blissey. We need to direct that scent towards Gligar so it can smell it more easily. Use Icy Wind to blow the new aroma towards Gligar, but be careful, we don't want to hurt our new buddy too much with that move."

    "Blissey!"

Blissey stepped back a little bit to prepare its next attack. She held her stubby arms in front of her, closed her eyes, and concentrated very hard. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes and a rush of chilly wind started emanating from Blissey's hands. Although the wind was not visible, it was clear Blissey was shooting it from her hands: the flower petals and slight pink color of the aroma made their way through the apertures of the Reflect by the Icy Wind and projected towards Gligar.

Zoa and Blissey waited to see how the Gligar would react.

"A Gligar? Excellent. Gligar will make a great new friend, won't it Blissey?" Zoa commented.

The Blissey seemed to agree as it nodded happily. Though, I was actually a bit shocked that Zoa had expressed interest in a Gligar. I was quite sure that he had possessed a Gliscor already, so this was probably captured so as to use as a trade bait.

Once he had finished saying that, his Blissey quickly waved its hand; resembling a miming action. From that, a thin and transparent wall started to materialize from its hands. I could also notice little beams of sun rays that were penetrating through the barrier-like attack; proof of the holes that it had created along with the Reflect. The entire Reflect screen was edged across the path now; and they reached a height that was even higher than the height of the top of the valley. I wasn't quite sure what was the purpose of the holes though. If anything, wouldn't they allow an opening for the Gligar?

"Great, Blissey, those openings in the Reflect will come in handy to filter our moves through without having to attack around it. Now, let's use another Aromtherapy. Release it at your feet. That Gligar won't be able to resist being our new playmate if it smells your Aromatherapy," Zoa said, as if he had heard the question in my head.

Blissey's egg seemed to have reacted again, as she grabbed it and tossed it slightly above in the air. The egg smashed onto the ground yet again, although the fragments of the egg shells seemed to have dissipated magically instead. What was left, was the multicolored fragrance that was lingering around within the barrier. The scent started to linger out of the tiny perforations in the Reflect barrier, but the process was quite slow. The Gligar remained nonchalant; albeit slightly curious at the nice-smelling aroma.

"Good so far Blissey. We need to direct that scent towards Gligar so it can smell it more easily. Use Icy Wind to blow the new aroma towards Gligar, but be careful, we don't want to hurt our new buddy too much with that move."

Zoa had commanded yet another move. The Gligar wasn't stupid however, and seemed to have understood that the barrier was keeping it out. It didn't seem frustrated or worried, but instead started crossing its pincers and spinning rapidly. It was Swords Dance. Blissey on the other hand, was already releasing the Icy Wind attack. A rush of chilly wind appeared from Blissey's hand, and magnified into a storm of cold ice particles. The attack had forced the Aromatherapy out of the barrier-like screen; to which Gliscor responded by starting to slow down on its spin, and eventually stopped. At the same time, I had noticed that the barrier was not as strong as before - some parts of the wall were starting to dissolve. Then again, I shouldn't have been surprised. It required a good amount of concentration in order to keep up a Reflect wall, and the thing here was that Blissey needed to perform other attacks at the same time, while keeping the huge expanded Reflect strong at the same time - it could have proved too much for the Pokemon, even if it didn't notice it.

The attack had calmed it down to an extent; making it easier to hit in fact. Although, the hidden effect of that Aromatherapy was that it was Icy Wind powered; thus it started to hurt Gligar a tiny bit. The majority of the attack was restrained by the barrier, and the Reflect was starting to get blurred up with the mist. However, the sudden blast of an Icy Wind seemed to have been too much for the tiny holes in the barrier instead, and some of them started to rebound from the barrier. Although it didn't seemed to have hurt too much, I could tell that the cold was proving uncomfortable for the Blissey; at least more than the Gligar.

Suddenly, a dark silhouette had appeared on the side of the barrier. It was hard to tell with the thick mist lingering around in the atmosphere, and Blissey was more than curious to find out what it is. It walked up close, face pressed all the way to the barrier, as if something was luring it towards the target. At that moment, the figure of Gligar had materialized completely, and with a tight crunch of its pincers; they sunk into Blissey's flesh. The attack seemed to have got through the Reflect panel, and all of them had disappeared completely now, as Blissey stumbled a few steps back - in shock. I had recognized that attack as a Faint Attack.

Blissey shook her head in distress from the Faint Attack. She started wobbling and stumbling like a Wobbuffet that had just taken a Megahorn from a Heracross. Blissey was not the most stably designed Pokemon to stand up still.

"Oh dear Blissey! Did our new friend play too hard? That attack sure did a number on you. But it's okay Blissey! There's no need to worry. Just shake it off and use Softboiled. You have earned it after all your hard work."

Blissey took a moment to balance herself on her tiny pink feet. She plucked yet another egg from her pouch. It was freshly grown and looked different from the Aromatherapy eggs. It was slightly smaller, somewhat shinier, and soft. She tossed the egg right into her mouth and swallowed it hole. Blissey rubbed her stomach a little from her favorite snack and was ready for new directions.

"Blissey!" she cried louder than ever, full of a new found energy

"Well that Swords Dance sure beefed up Gligar a little. It basically doubled its attack. Hmmm, but we can negate it, and maybe do even a bit more. Alright Blissey, let's use Charm and lower that Gligar's animosity a bit. It might even start taking a liking to you."

This whole time Blissey had an upbeat, carefree, and jolly demeanor. However, for this move only, she changed her behavior a little. She feinted a slight coy look on her face and looked directly at Gligar. She then flipped the curls of her hair a little with her arms in a seductive manner towards the Gligar. Little hearts sparkled out of Blissey as she did this.

"Blissssssssssssey." she said softly as she winked at the flying scorpion

"Excellent Blissey. You should be on some kind of actress on a teen television show like Gossip Girl. Now, let's buy ourselves some time and make that Gligar take a quick nap. Once that Gligar has fallen asleep, it will be much easier to handle. Sing a love song to Gligar while it's distracted. There's no way that Gligar can't be in mad love with you after the Aromatherapy, Charm, and now this Sing!"

Blissey put her hands together and rhythmically moved left and right. She then opened her mouth and let out her beautiful voice. Music notes appeared and flowed towards Gligar.

Bliss ♫ bliss ♩ blissssey! Bliss bliss ♫ bliss! ♩ Blissey!

Zoa had practically sang what he wanted to say. The Pokemon took a moment to balance herself, then pluck yet another egg from her pouch, and tossed it into her mouth to swallow it whole. I started giggling from the funny sight - a Blissey eating an egg. She rubbed her stomach comically after the "tea break", and cried out happily with her new found energy.

"Well, that Swords Dance sure beefed up Gligar a little. It basically doubled its attack. Hmmm, but we can negate it, and maybe do even a bit more. Alright Blissey, let's use Charm and lower that Gligar's animosity a bit. It might even start taking a liking to you."

The Blissey proceeded to perform the relatively simple attack; an attack which had the ability to lower the physical power of the target by acting adorable and seductive. In fact, with Blissey's Jolly nature, it was especially excellent at performing such attacks. The Gligar had already lowered its evasion down, and was now lowering its own physical attack power as well. It flew down to meet the Blissey on the ground, and stood on the ground obediently, while locking eyes with the Blissey lovingly.

I giggled again at the comment of Gossip Girl. There were recent gossips and talks about my drama watching which had caused me to lose concentration while partaking in a couple of important battles, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some relevance between what Zoa had just said and the recent happenings. Regardless, the Blissey had clapped her hands together and started singing out musical notes from her mouth. The Gligar didn't put up much of a fight however. I wasn't sure if it was Blissey that was calming it down with her jolly self and the moves used, or perhaps that Gligar had respected Zoa as a good trainer, but it didn't make much of a difference. I could tell that my trainer was performing well for a first timer in a Park expedition however.

The Gligar tried a weak last resort move and struck its pincers onto Blissey's egg - it was Knock Off. The attack did pathetic damage. This time, the egg in Blissey's pouch didn't reappear, probably because the egg that was knocked off didn't shatter at all. I couldn't even see the point of that Knock Off; for Blissey could have just walked over and picked the egg back up. Though, the Gligar didn't have much time to regret, even if it wanted to. The musical notes surrounded Gligar and it seemed that there was no escape.

Suddenly, the Gligar disappeared from its original position, and the musical notes closed in, only to smash into each other and dissolve away. It appeared in front of Blissey all of a sudden, and smacked the nurse Pokemon with its pincers again. Yet another Faint Attack. The Sing had missed - although it wasn't much of a surprise with its extremely low accuracy.

"Perhaps focus on inflicting more damage?" I suggested mildly. I didn't want to appear too harsh, but I didn't feel too good about how the battle wasn't going anywhere at all. After all, I figured a tiny bit of advice or reminder wouldn't hurt.

"Knock Off? Did someone useless tell Gligar to do that move?"

"Perhaps focus on inflicting more damage?" Ataro said

"Damage? Why would we hurt our new friend, Blissey? No, we aren't going to hurt Gligar, we are just going to make it lose energy so it comes to realize it loves us, right?"

    "Blissey!"

"Of course we first had to take some precaution after that Swords Dance, but now it is time to play a little hard ourselves. Blissey, let that Reflect disappear completely if it has not already. Then go with an Icy Wind straight at Gligar."

Blissey stood her ground firmly into the disturbed dust and dirt at her feet from all the battling. Like last time, she held her arms in front of her. Then came the concentration phase and Blissey closed her eyes and began urging her inner Pokemon powers to release the almost mystical maneuver for a Normal Pokemon. Blissey then opened her eyes, which sparkled, perhaps an indicator of something magical occurring. A chilling flow of air flowed from the tips of Blissey's stub-like arms. However, it was no air conditioning fan, it was more extreme. It was an Icy Wind, and it was cold. As the air zoomed towards Gligar, the muggy air seemed to condense right in front of Zoa's eyes. Imagine drops of water just appearing in the air, not falling from the sky. However, this lasted only for an instant, as the liquid drops of water that formed throughout the wind froze and turned solid, into snowflakes. Just like that, the water vapor in the air was cooled so much that the fast moving atoms that composed it lost their speed and compacted closely together to form a liquid, and then they were compacted even more to create solid, crystalline ice. Again, this was all caused by Blissey's Icy Wind, ready to strike Gligar.

"Okay Blissey. Now, let's give that Gligar a special kind of hug, a hug called Seismic Toss!"

Blissey squatted a little bit, which is as much as her small limbs could. She then did the reverse motion in a quick jolt and bounced up like a very large spring. This was amazing, considering Blissey did not seem like much of a jumper. However, such a technique is crucial for nurses, as you never know when a patient is about to fall out of a window on a high level floor of a hospital and you need to catch them. Learning to jump like that could end up really saving something. Blissey leaped towards the Gligar with this physics defying maneuver, and held her arms apart, ready to hold the entirety of Gligar.

If the attack hit, it would look something like this.

Blissey embraced Gligar's coarse body mid-air, which just sank into Blissey's skin like a hard object on a pillow. The Gligar was confused at what was going on. It looked around to see it was fully surrounded by the whole of Blissey's arms and body. Then, still in the air, Blissey used the momentum of her body to flip backwards. As Blissey spun a full 360 degrees, she used her momentum to throw Gligar right into the ground as hard as she could.

Blissey then gracefully landed on the ground with an almost inaudible thud. However, Blissey's next move was not inaudible at all.

"Okay Blissey, that Gligar has to be tired. It must want to take a nap really bad. Try another Sing, and cross your fingers for a hit!"

    "Bliss!"

Blissey let out another serenade for the Gligar. She put her hands together and started bobbing in a pattern to act like a metronome to keep the beat; it was hard after all to sing A Capella, but that is a completely different move! Regardless, the sound waves of Blissey's voice came out like a wave, as indicated by the barrage of musical notes that had materialized. The wave of single of notes, ranging from whole notes to semihemidemisemiquaver, rapidly came towards Gligar. But would it fall asleep?

"Damage? Why would we hurt our new friend, Blissey? No, we aren't going to hurt Gligar, we are just going to make it lose energy so it comes to realize it loves us, right?" Zoa chimed like a Pidgey.

    "Blissey!"

"Of course we first had to take some precaution after that Swords Dance, but now it is time to play a little hard ourselves. Blissey, let that Reflect disappear completely if it has not already. Then go with an Icy Wind straight at Gligar."

The Blissey planted her feet firmly to the ground and closed her eyes as she started to concentrate on her next attack. When she opened her eyes, a chilly wind started to emerge and float out from the tips of her arms. As it traveled, it got increasingly colder and more intense. When I returned my focus to Gligar, it was already kicking furiously in the sand, and using its pincers to throw the sand forward. I looked at the direction of the Sand-Attack, and realized that it was headed for the barrage of Icy Wind. Like a wall built out of sand, the spew of thick sand filtered out the icy crystals and barricaded it out from Gligar. Eventually, both of the attacks settled onto the ground, mixed with icy-blue crystals and sandy brown dirt-sand.

"Okay Blissey. Now, let's give that Gligar a special kind of hug, a hug called Seismic Toss!"

She had squatted a bit, looking completely like an awkward motion to me. She did a quick reverse motion and sprang herself up into the air, reaching for Gligar. The Gligar had just finished its Sand-Attack and was completely taken aback by the sudden Seismic Toss. She quickly embraced her arms around Gligar and hopped back up, as if she had jumped on a springboard. She spun a full 360 degrees and made use of the gravity to plunge Gligar right back into the ground. Gligar smashed onto the ground, creating a small crater where it landed. Blissey on the other hand, landed gracefully with a slight thud. The Gligar didn't seem to put up much of a struggle throughout, as it just laid there on the ground motionless.

"Okay Blissey, that Gligar has to be tired. It must want to take a nap really bad. Try another Sing, and cross your fingers for a hit!"

Blissey let out another serenade for the Gligar. She put her hands together and started bobbing herself towards the pattern of the melody. The barrage of musical notes started to float towards Gligar again, but the accuracy was looking pretty off yet again. The musical notes floated wildly towards the Gligar that was motionless, but spread more towards the right instead. A sudden breeze blew past, and one of the notes struck the right pincer of the Gligar. However, as it made contact, the Gligar suddenly disappeared in a whiff of smoke.

It reappeared right behind Blissey and did two full 360 degrees turn in the air; smashing itself right onto the back of Blissey. I had recognized the attacks as Substitute and Acrobatics, the latter which had a massive power if the user that was performing it wasn't holding any held item. The attack seemed to have struck Blissey's weak spot, as she fell clumsily to the ground - face flat. Both Pokemon were starting to look pretty ruffled up, but Gligar had definitely taken the bigger brunt of the attack from the destructive Seismic Toss earlier.

"Blissey, this is almost over. Gligar will join us soon enough. First, let's get you health back up, use Softboiled."

A fresh egg had popped out of the Pokemon's pouch and she picked it like a grape. Her grip was delicate, but it was contrary to what she did next, as she tossed it carefree into the air. The egg went up like a football in the air, but the Pokemon has tossed it so it spiraled in the air instead of clumsily wobbling. Blissey then opened her mouth wide open and looked up. The egg landed exactly into the center of her oral cavity and she swallowed it whole.

And just like that Blissey was a brand new Pokemon. That tiny little egg had given her a great deal of brand new energy. Her pink skin shined in the glum scene.

    "Bliss!"

"Now, let's give Gligar a special present, the kind we have discussed before. Use Bestow to give it to Gligar. It's the only way if we want Gligar to join us."

Blissey had produced yet another egg from her pouch. The egg looked like all the other eggs Blissey had ate. It was oval shaped, white, and of normal size. However, she did something a little odd with the egg. She held it up to one of her ears and listened. It produced a slight ticking sound, and the started ticking faster and faster. Blissey had held the egg to her to confirm it was the right kind of egg: an Egg Bomb.

"Hey Gligar, we're sorry about that Icy Wind and Seismic Toss stuff. We kind of just want to leave, and figured we shouldn't leave you in this kind of condition. Take this Softboiled and you should be good. Then we will leave."

Blissey Bestowed the egg and held it in front of her. She closed her eyes in sincerity, like the egg really was one that would heal Gligar. She waited for the Gligar to fly over to her and snatch it out of her arms. When and if Gligar takes the egg, Blissey steps back in safety from the EGGSPLOSION.

"Let us try one more Sing. Gligar is probably too shocked from that last move to dodge it!"

Blissey started singing again, but it was a different kind of tune. It was an upbeat salsa mix with some techno, but it still resembled the hypnotic attribute of a lullaby. Blissey hopped and danced to this zesty new genre. She sprung up on one leg and then the other back and forth as she stayed on beat with the music she produced. Again, musical notes swarmed at the Gligar, but weather it would actually hit the tired Gligar with lowered evasion was not certain.

"Blissey, this is almost over. Gligar will join us soon enough. First, let's get you health back up, use Softboiled."

I had almost flinched from that command. This trainer sure was determined and his strategies revolved around a more defensive approach. This was something new to me, for he was different from all of the other trainers that I had went with before. The egg popped out of the Pokemon's pouch and she grabbed it with a delicate touch, before tossing it with ease.

The egg sprang up like a football being launched from a rocket launcher, and dropped back down - right into Blissey's mouth, as she swallowed it whole. Immediately, a shine started to emanate from her body and her wounds started to disappear magically. She then let out a contented yell, as if telling her trainer that she was ready to fight again.

"Now, let's give Gligar a special present, the kind we have discussed before. Use Bestow to give it to Gligar. It's the only way if we want Gligar to join us," Zoa said.

I was a bit curious at his command - it was definitely something secretive that he had practiced with his Pokemon. The Blissey produced yet another egg - to which I had started to get bored of already - and held it to her ears and listened. I had almost managed to notice the slight smirk on both the Pokemon and her trainer, but I didn't know what they was planning to do. From my knowledge, Bestow was relatively a harmless move, and can be used to transfer the user's held item to the opponent. However, that was definitely not the case here.

"Hey Gligar, we're sorry about that Icy Wind and Seismic Toss stuff. We kind of just want to leave, and figured we shouldn't leave you in this kind of condition. Take this Softboiled and you should be good. Then we will leave," Zoa said slyly.

The Gligar lowered its head and started to look apologetic, as if it is really feeling bad enough that it had treated Zoa and his Blissey so badly. The Blissey walked up towards the Gligar and passed it with both of her hands, while closing her eyes in sincerity. The scorpion Pokemon quickly flew down and took it gently. Suddenly, Blissey backed off so fast, as if she had been moon-walking. The Gligar seemed confused as it held onto the bomb, to which a ticking sound started to echo loudly from within. Just as Gligar and I had realized what it was; the egg exploded without much warning.

"Let us try one more Sing. Gligar is probably too shocked from that last move to dodge it!"

True that. The Gligar had fell back onto the ground, for it was completely taken aback. Although the close ranged attack had aggravated the effect of the attack, the Gligar stood back up still. Even with all of its wounds and fatigue look, it seemed to have been too determined to deal some real damage. It glared a face at the Blissey - obviously pissed off at the feint attack. As Blissey was starting to open her mouth, the Gligar wasted no time and blasted itself towards the Blissey. At the same time, its pincer-like claw was already glowing white and it grabbed the Blissey easily by the ears, throwing and slamming her onto the ground with a resounding thud. That was Guillotine.

Though, Blissey still maintained her consciousness and determination, releasing a string of melodic notes into the air. It resembled an upbeat salsa mix and some hypnotic lullaby, but that was definitely a Sing attack still. The melody notes floated around, but it was obvious that the attack had missed by a far shot. The notes wavered around the wind, going in a complete different direction from the Gligar. However, the Blissey started to stare at the notes and clenched her teeth tightly - she seemed to be controlling the notes with all her might. I wouldn't be surprised if she had tried extra hard, simply because of her trainer's determination. One of the note turned in a 90 degree turn and struck Gligar, as the Pokemon fell to the ground immediately and started to snooze.

Zoa was ready to capture his first Pokemon in this expedition.

"Excellent work, Blissey... Now, I've never used these kind of balls before, but I hope they work the same as the other kinds. This one is a Super Ball, I remember buying 5 of them at the shop," Zoa said as he rummaged through his backpack.

"Hopefully I'll only need one for this engagement."

Zoa clenched the sphere, raised his hand a little, retracted his limb back, and then jerked it forward. Before he let go of the ball completely, he let the sphere roll up from his palm to his fingers so that his digits caused a backspin on the ball as it projected toward the sleeping target.

The ball went in the general direction of the Gligar, but only a professional National Park Ranger could tell you exactly what happened.

"Excellent work, Blissey... Now, I've never used these kind of balls before, but I hope they work the same as the other kinds. This one is a Super Ball, I remember buying 5 of them at the shop," Zoa said as he started searching furiously in his bag. "Hopefully, I'll only need one for this engagement."

Although it was nothing much, I felt a slight pity in this situation. Judging from the current battle scenario and Zoa's effort, my institution told me that a Park Ball would actually be more than sufficient. Though, I did realize Zoa didn't bring any Park Balls with him at all. Still, he clenched the sphere and flung it towards the Gligar.

The capture device opened once it made contact, and the red beam emitted from the orb enlarged into a large red silhouette that swallowed the Gligar whole. It shrunk it down into the ball and shut close, before letting off a resounding click after three shakes. It was quite decisive, hinting that the capture was definitely most successful. I went over and picked up the ball, while explaining; "As per Park rules, I will be holding onto the Pokemon that you have captured till the end of the expedition." It was quite amusing, for I must have sounded like a mechanical robot.

"Do you need to heal your Pokemon up or anything? We can take a really short break if you need to. Also, you get to decide our next course of routes. We can either take the most direct route through the caves to enter the volcanic mountains, or perhaps take the unnecessarily difficult route and climb the valleys. We can reach the volcano faster if we just climb the valleys, but we can get to see more Ground-type Pokemon if we journey past the small cave. What do you prefer?" I asked, while explaining the specifics.

Meanwhile, I looked at Alakazam and suddenly felt like several daggers had stabbed me in my mind again. It was telepathy. I really needed some time getting used to this... <I can see you're starting to get tired of this, huh?> I heard Alakazam's thoughts in my head again.

<Oh dear, I really need some time getting used to this. Well yeah, you're right. I haven't been feeling up to it lately. Feel like getting a holiday, sigh.> I thought about it in my head, trying to project it as clear as possible.

I still couldn't understand how and the methods used that Psychic-type Pokemon use for telepathy, so it became quite a natural reflex for me to think hard about what I had wanted to say. I heard my Alakazam's thoughts in my head again, although it was more of a hearty chuckle. Regardless, I was just glad that my Pokemon was having fun.

It's male, and I think you mixed up Togekiss's and Blissey's health. ^_^

"Great work Blissey! You deserve a good rest. How about one more Softboiled before you go back in your ball?"

    "Blissey!"

Perhaps for the last time for a long, Blissey snatched an egg that had produced from the front of her stomach pouch. She tossed the egg high towards the sky, but she did not prepare to catch it in her mouth at all. Zoa put forth his Blissey's Pokeball and sucked up the Blissey. A red light enveloped Blissey and the egg in the air. Blissey materialized into light as well and shrunk as the Pokeball vacuumed it in. The egg behaved in a similar way, but it lagged behind in being sucked up. A second after Blissey was completely retracted into her Pokeball, the egg went into the Pokeball as well. Who knew Pokemon could eat while inside their Pokeball?

"Well, with Blissey taking a break, I'll just be using that Litwick disc with the Pokeplayer." Zoa said in a matter of fact way as he placed the disc into the player and started it.

The lullaby of Litwick began to play. Zoa listened to it and almost got lost in the trance. It was quite a soothing sound that contrasted with the battle that had just happened. However, he came back to his full senses and realized his ranger was asking what way he wanted to go.

"Oh, sorry about that, let's just go to the caves..."

"Great work Blissey! You deserve a good rest. How about one more Softboiled before you go back in your ball?"

The Blissey cried out her name happily at the command. Like the hundred time in a few minutes, she tossed her egg once again up into the air. Zoa then pulled out a Pokeball and returned his Blissey into the orb, but the egg was sucked into it at the same time as well. I figured Blissey would eat it while inside the Pokeball?

"Well, with Blissey take a break, I'll just be using that Litwick disc with the Pokeplayer." Zoa said in a matter of fact way as he placed the disc into the player and started it.

I gasped a little, for I had realized that I had forgotten about the voice disc this time. Regardless, he started to play it again as the weird cry of a lullaby of Litwick started to emit out from the Pokeplayer. Suddenly, he snapped out of it and quickly responded, "Oh, sorry about that, let's just go to the caves..."

We continued moving forward to enter the mysterious cave. I didn't know what to expect, but I sure hoped it was a direct route. I wanted to move on to the volcano as soon as possible, because I knew that that was the place where good and rare Pokemon usually lived. When we had entered the cave - as if it wasn't dark enough, it had gotten even more gloomy. The air was stuffed and it was definitely hot around here, but the entire cave was quite dark. The only light source that we had was because of the entrance, but that too was quite dim.

There wasn't much of an option however. Although it was a little disappointing for adventurers, I felt slightly glad since there was a direct route, at least I thought so now. We were faced with the cave walls on all side, all of the granite gray, only with a huge hole right in front of us. Though, there was an extremely huge boulder in front of us. We needed to move it if we were to advance further... I could actually help my trainer with Alakazam's teleportation skills, but a ranger usually isn't supposed to help his trainer. Meanwhile, I had noticed that Alakazam was focusing on the boulder, as if he was studying it. I wouldn't be surprised if he was attempting to look through it to study what was possibly behind it.

"Well, if we were to continue, we need to move that enormous boulder aside, so that we can move through the hole entrance. I think that the routes ahead of us would be even darker, perhaps to the extent where it is impossible to see and navigate, so perhaps you could light up the cave?" I suggested.

I waited for Zoa's respond, whether it was a verbal reply or an action reply, but we were interrupted quickly. ... That seemed to happen often in the Park. A tiny Pokemon was squeezing its way through the slight hole in between the entrance and the boulder, and was making the annoying screeching sounds. Luckily, it had succeeded and the sound quickly stopped. It levitated in front of us and smiled - at least it wasn't a rampaging Pokemon... Though, this Bronzor did look smaller than the usual species.

"Uhm, not a Litwick definitely ... but I doubt you'd want a Bronzor?"

"A Bronzor? Those are nice and all, but after that Gligar, I think I'll focus only on two specific families of Pokemon. Let's just walk past it... It seems pretty tame and harmless. However, I have this Pokedoll in case it tries to confront us. It's shaped like a Luvdisc. Bronzor like Luvdisc, right?"

Zoa then noticed the massive rock that was standing in the way. He created a plan and let out his Infernape.

"Propane and Propane Accessories (A Clean-Burning Fuel Source), I choose you!"

The primate-like Pokemon was raring to go. Its crown of fire burned intensely and provided a secondary source of light to the sunlight coming from the entrance of the cave. However, this head wear meant something more to the Infernape and Zoa...

    ~

Back when Zoa was younger and his Infernape was still a Monferno, he would often battle his friend, Robert, otherwise known as Jr. They had long-winded spars, but it would always end up down to Zoa's Monferno and Jr's Charmeleon. And Zoa's Monferno would always lose. Jr's Charmeleon was just as mischievous as Zoa's Monferno. After beating Monferno, it would taunt Monferno with its flaming tail, much brighter than Monferno's. The Charmeleon would point out how Monferno's flaming tail was so weak. Monferno became extremely frustrated when this happened.

However, one battle, something very different happened. Usually the battle would end with Propane using Flare Blitz, which involved lighting himself on fire and charging at the Charmeleon. However, Zoa tried something a little different this battle. Zoa told Monferno only to light his head on fire with his tail, and to use Acrobatics to missile to Charmeleon with Flare Blitz. This combination was much more effective as Propane rammed into Charmeleon at a higher velocity, due to being more aerodynamic, while not hurting Propane as much due to not lighting his whole body on fire.

After the hit, Charmeleon was down and out of the battle. However, the fire on Monferno's head did not wear out. Something strange happened. Monferno started glowing white and changing shape. This was the Monferno evolving. However, the Monferno did not just become any ordinary Infernape. Its head glowed brighter from the attack it had just performed, it was brighter than the Charmeleon's tail. The tables were turned, and the Infernape used its crown of fire to taunt Charmeleon. The intensity remains on Propane's head to this day, it is as bright as a Pokemon's Flash attack.

"Infernape, use Acrobatics to launch yourself off the wall adjacent from the big boulder. Then, as your speeding towards the boulder, use Strength to push that boulder out of our way."

Infernape squatted and then jumped towards the wall. It expertly landed on the vertical wall, but then quickly pounced off as its body changed direction and started heading towards the boulder, while still in the air. As it approached the wall, it put its two arms forward and made contact with the large boulder. The initial momentum of the acrobatic maneuver should allow the Infernape to overcome the static friction between the rock and the floor of the cave more easily compared to doing so without it. Afterwards, with the initial budge, Infernape can continue to push the boulder out of the way with its feet on the ground. Hopefully the rock will move so Zoa and company can continue.

As expected, Zoa posed no interest in that Pokemon. Bronzong were quite interesting Pokemon to use for their unique defensive capabilities and special moves, but I was rather sure that Zoa already had one anyway. Before Zoa even tried to toss his Luvdisc-shaped Pokedoll, the Bronzor had already levitated away while keeping its head low. It floated out of the cave quite depressingly - it was definitely hoping to be on Zoa's team.

"Propane and Propane Accessories (A Clean-Burning Fuel Source), I choose you!" Zoa said while throwing a Pokeball onto the ground.

I had almost flinched at the long name for his Infernape, though it was quite amusing. The ape Pokemon was raring to go, and its crown of fire burned slightly different from the usual species that I saw. I couldn't exactly pinpoint out the difference, but this Infernape's crown seemed to have burned brighter, and a more intense shade of red as well. Regardless, it was a good source of light and immediately lighted up the cave; it had felt like Infernape was the sun instead.

"Infernape, use Acrobatics to launch yourself off the wall adjacent from the big boulder. Then, as your speeding towards the boulder, use Strength to push that boulder out of our way." Zoa posed a command.

The Infernape took a low crouch and jumped towards the wall; expertly landing on the vertical wall with perfect balance. It quickly pounced off as its body changed direction and charged towards the boulder while suspended in air. As it approached the wall, it put its two arms forward and made use of the rebounding energy and gravity to power up its Strength. The entire boulder was struck all the way to the side of the wall, revealing a huge entrance to the deeper parts of the cave. The Pokemon then returned to his trainer's side; still in perfect condition. I assumed that they must have practiced these kinds of strategy before, or at least similar ones like the Acrobatics; such skill and expertise were only possible with adequate practice and training.

We continued walking forward, with Infernape taking the lead as a form of light source. Unfortunately, the deeper parts of the cave were nothing much as well. The path was mostly a straight route - there wasn't anything exciting. Meanwhile, the light had gotten dimmer, but I wasn't sure whether it was Infernape that was feeling tired or what. From what I could see, Infernape was as healthy as before. But then again, it could be that the cave was getting darker itself; we were in the deeper parts anyway.

Suddenly, the sound of some sort of a sandstorm rush was echoing throughout the caves. It had sounded like the roar of a waterfall, except it was due to sand, not water. Alakazam seemed to have detected danger meanwhile, and suddenly projected a voice in my head. I wasn't sure if Zoa had heard it as well, but he and Infernape had stopped as well. Alakazam probably transmitted his telepathy to them as well. <Stop! It's quicksand!> The voice echoed through my head loudly, as if someone had just struck a bell right beside my ear.

The area was so dark that we couldn't even see the quicksand properly, but Alakazam had managed to detect it. I knew quicksand can be quite fatal, but all I knew about it was that it sucked and devoured whoever that stepped on it. There were some cases though, where quicksand led to secret cave entrances and routes instead. I quickly asked Alakazam if there was any other way, but he had told me no. The only way forward was through this quicksand. If we were to turn back and climb through the valleys, that would be too much waste of a time. I was pretty confident that such endeavors only led to much better rewards anyway.

"Uhm, it seems that the quicksand is the only way forward. We can turn back and take the alternative route by climbing the valleys, but that would consume a lot of time. Besides, I have a feeling that the quicksand would lead us to something better, probably Ground-type Pokemon and perhaps other stuff. Which route do you want to take? If we were to take the quicksand, we need to remain extremely calm and not struggle while we're being swallowed. Otherwise, there is a good chance that we will get lost in the quicksand and wind up missing instead. If we manage to drop down through the quicksand directly, there was a good chance that we will get out of it and perhaps enter some sort of a secret room. If we were to do that however, we need to protect ourselves from the quicksand still. Perhaps we can make our Pokemon use Protect while hugging them and getting into the middle of the quicksand?" I suggested.

"Now this is what I call an adventure... I don't think quicksand naturally occurs in a cave, does it? I bet a Pokemon is causing this, perhaps a Hippowdon? Well whatever it is, talking about it isn't going to help us get past this colloid hydrogel. Propane, you're a little too hot for me to hold onto, it's Starmie's turn now. Starmie, use Flash so we can see again."

Zoa recalled his Fire Pokemon and sent out his geometric Water Pokemon. The biological anomaly that was Starmie stood on the surface of the cave with two of its prongs. The jewel at its center changed several colors until it seemed to have found the right one, and then created a large flash of light that lit up the cave once again.

"Starmie, do you see that quicksand? Stand at the edge of it and use Protect. We're going to go through the sand. However, I'll be behind you and be holding onto you so make sure you include me on the Protect. If you can't hold onto Flash anymore, that's fine. We don't need light while we're in the sand. Just be ready to light up the place again after we sink through, and be ready for whatever is on the other side."

Starmie analyzed the commands and readied itself at the border between the cave ground and the quicksand. Zoa followed Starmie.

"Well, here goes nothing," Zoa said as he latched onto his beloved jewel and it begun its Protect attack
