It was a slow day. I sat in my office with a small fan running, trying to beat the heat. I wanted to go out and enjoy the beautiful day outside, but unfortunately, I was left on sentry duty. I was supposed to watch out and make sure that everything was running smoothly. I had to make sure that no rangers were trying to get out of their work (something that I desperately wanted to do), no trainers were bullying any of the park's Pokemon, and that no Pokemon hunters were trying to hunt our Pokemon.

My Luxray yawned loudly. She was curled up next to my chair. Her fur glistened in the sunlight. I got up from my chair and walked over to the receptionist's desk. Luxray, sensing that I was leaving, immediately woke up and followed behind me.

"Please tell me there is something I can do," I asked in desperation. "I will do anything to get out of this office."

The receptionist eyeballed me while still facing her desk. She pushed her glasses up her nose and turned to face me.

"Well, there is one trainer that needs to go through the park," she replied. The heat must have been getting to her too. She usually gave me a hard time with her snobby comments and witty remarks; however, today, there was nothing. I thanked her as she uploaded the trainer's file to my Browser. The Browsers were PDA-like devices that rangers used for practically everything. After stopping by the supply box and stocking up on a few emergency items, I walked out to the gate.

A guy wearing a red shirt and white vest was waiting there. I held my Browser in front of the scanner and waited while the gate opened. The trainer walked in. I extended my hand out to greet him.

"Hi," I greeted. "I'm Dee and I'll be your ranger today."

"Nice to meet you, Dee," I replied, shaking hands with the active ranger, "I'm looking forward to my next trip into the park."

I scanned the lobby, noticing a few changes since I had visited last year. At the time, I had plans on becoming Kumkuat Island's Gym Leader, and I was in desperate need of an Ice-type. I found that in a Weavile, which my Ditto and I captured with ease. I eventually lost my island post, and traded away my Weavile in exchange for a Horsea. So much more has changed since that day at Mt. Oktori. My Pokemon and I have grown, and the Social Links that held us together had strengthed. I rummaged through the three Pokemon I had chosen to bring with me.

The first was Napetaro, my Infernape. I had caught this Pokemon early in my career. Since then, it has become a staple to my team; helping me win several of my gym battles. Infernape had accompanied me on my trip to Mt. Oktori. Unfortunately, the trip ended shortly, as I had captured the three Pokemon I wanted early on. Hopefully this time Napetaro would be more useful to me.

The second Pokemon I chose was Dii-Chan, my Ditto. During my Mt. Oktori trip; I took a Ditto in with me, and it helped me capture Weavile. I recently gave that Ditto to a Normal-type enthusiast as a gift, only to end up buying another one. I was curious to see if this new Ditto would affect my performance.

My final Pokemon is Rose the Roserade, a recent addition to my team. Roserade knew two powerful attacks and it was eager to show them off. I chose her with the idea of facing many electric-types in mind. Her Grass-typing would be a great advantage in the Abandoned Power Plant.

"Okay, I think I'm ready," I said, brushing my blonde bangs out of my eyes, "how will we get to the Power Plant?"

(You can pick the gender for the wild Pokemon. I always roll for a random nature. If there is a nature you'd rather have, just let me know.)

After introductions were over, my trainer was ready to get out and catch some Pokémon. I didn’t really blame him because I was really excited too. Any day out of that office was a good day for me.

“How will we get to the Power Plant?" Sean asked.

The power plant had long been abandoned, and like most human creations that are abandoned, nature had taken over. Pokémon, mainly electric-types, had managed to find shelter within the plant. The place was infested with Magnemite and even Zubat. There were even rumors of legendary Pokémon being there.

Back when the plant was still operational, location was important. There was concern over vandalism, safety issues, among other things. As a result, the plant was located in the back of the park, away from the trainers and their Pokémon; however, now that the plant had been abandoned and the park was powered by a greener alternative, it was safer to visit (with the supervision of a licensed ranger, of course).

I led my trainer to an area where a series of posts were. Each post would teleport us to its corresponding park area. The posts were numbered to help with choosing the right one. I led my trainer up to Post #6 and placed my Browser in front of the scanner. The teleportation platform immediately powered up and transported us to the entrance of the power plant.

The power plant was a gray, drab building with broken windows. Vines wrapped around the building like veins. I lead Sean to the door that would lead us into the building. As we walked up to the door, an Elekid stood in front of us, bending its arms as if it was flexing its muscles. I thought that this was the perfect Pokémon to start off our trek through the power plant.

“Well, Sean,” I asked. “Are you interested in having an Elekid?”

OOC: If I battle this but don't attempt to catch, does it count towards a future Pokemon? Either way, an Elekid seems like the perfect warm-up.

IC: “Well, Sean,” Dee asked. “Are you interested in having an Elekid?”

"If this were a year back, yes," I replied, frowning a little, "but I have an Electivire back home. Still, doesn't look like this guy's gonna give up anytime soon. Napetaro, flex your muscles!"

With that, I pulled out one of my three Pokeballs. The red and white orb exploded as it crushed the ground, popping out in a flash of white sparks. A tall, thin, brown monkey-like Pokemon with patches of white fur and a flame that burned with the fiery passion of youth let out an eager howl. Napetaro was always ready to battle by my side. The two of us were a seemingly-unstoppable combination.

"Okay Napetaro, are you ready?" I asked, already knowing the answer.

"INFERNAPE!" the ape screeched, pounding its fists on its chest.

"Okay then," I shouted, pointing a finger at the plug-headed Elekid, "that thing's in our way; show it some manners with Flame Wheel!"

Napetaro eagerly obeyed my commands, darting towards the Electric-type as the flames on its head intensified. The Fire-type then curled into a ball, spinning through the air as its flames formed a buzzsaw-like shape. The flames crackled loudly as Napetaro rolled towards Elekid. The fire's heat burned the old floor as the monkey gained speed in its attack.

    vs. Elekid BP1

(You mean, does it count against your encounter? Yes, your encounter number still goes down, but don't worry, there are still plenty of good Pokemon on the way. :))

Sean decided that he wanted to battle the little Elekid. He sent out his Infernape to battle the Pokémon. A tall monkey with flames coming out of its head emerged. Elekid looked up at the fire-type and gulped. He knew these trainers had Pokémon, but he wasn’t expecting this. Being the Pokémon that he was, however, he stood his ground and prepared for a battle.

“That thing's in our way,” Sean told his Infernape, who gave out a fierce battle cry. “Show it some manners with Flame Wheel!"

The flames coming from Infernape’s head grew more intense. Infernape dashed and curled up into a flaming wheel. The attack would burn the Elekid if it hit the right way. Infernape rolled towards Elekid at an amazing speed. Before Elekid could dodge, he was hit and flew backwards towards the door.

He quickly sprung to his feet and rushed towards Infernape. He drew his hands backwards and threw a punch at Infernape, his fists sparking and surrounded by electricity. After the attack had hit, he landed back on the ground. Suddenly, he started to feel a burning sensation in his body. The pain distracted him from his battle. Elekid were known to tire easily and a status ailment only made them tired even quicker.

A flame surrounded Elekid as he cried out in pain from the discomfort; however, he quickly pulled himself together and lunged at Infernape, ready to use another Thunderpunch attack. His fist was surrounded with electricity as he threw it forward, ready to slug Infernape in the jaw.

OOC: No, I mean the character count for the next Pokemon. Or does that number reset once this encounter ends?

IC: "Gotta admit, the kid's got guts," I said, impressed by Elekid's continued charge.

I took a moment to analyze the situation. Elekid was burned, so I didn't expect Thunderpunch to do too much damage to Napetaro. Still, I didn't want to risk getting it paralyzed, especially since my journey through the Power Plant had just started. It would just be a waste of a full heal. Obviously, my best option was to dodge before launching a counter-attack, and hope the burn would leave Elekid unable to strike back. Then I remembered that Elekid's body was also an electrical conductor. My safest bet would be to stop the attack before it connected with Napetaro.

"Napetaro, fight back with Flamethrower!" I yelled, "I want you to stop that Elekid dead in its tracks."

Infernape nodded, inhaling deeply as he leaned backwards, gathering oxygen into his mouth that would soon be turned into flames. As the oxygen molecules became compressed, their temperature greatly increased. Hot embers leaked out of Napetaro's mouth as it cooked up an extra spicy Flamethrower. As Elekid drew nearer, I knew my chance to stop it grew short.

    "Napetaro, release it now!"

The Fire-/Fighting-type obliged, jerking forward and releasing a piping hot stream of brilliant red flames that stretched towards the charging Elekid. The collision of these two attacks was inevitable, I only hoped Napetaro was able to hold strong.

    Re: Individual RP: Nyurgh

    vs. Elekid BP2

(Oh, CC resets at the end of each encounter. Also, are you planning on capturing Elekid?)

It would have been dangerous to try and take the hit from Elekid’s attack. It was also a gamble to try and make contact with Elekid’s body because of his ability. Sean and Infernape had to decide on the best approach to the battle, which was an attack that would stop Elekid without making contact with the electric Pokémon.

"Napetaro, fight back with Flamethrower!" Sean ordered Infernape, determining that that was the best approach. Infernape nodded and inhaled deeply. He held his breath. The oxygen that he had inhaled was helping to create fire within his body. He could later release these flames through his mouth like a real flamethrower.

“Release it now!” Sean called out to Infernape, releasing that the chance to attack was quickly passing by. Infernape threw his head forward and spit out the flames. A large, intense stream of fire had straight for the Elekid. When the flames made contact, Elekid was pushed back, once again slamming into the door behind him. The burn that he had gotten before hurt him.

Elekid slowly got up to his feet and as a last resort, started to twist his arms around in a circle to generate electricity. He body started to glow and spark while he charged up his next attack. After a little while, he was tired and stopped charging. Instead, he released a series of blue electrical beams at once that went in every direction possible. All of the beams went into the air, curved, and aimed straight for Infernape.

OOC: No, I was kinda hoping this battle would count towards rarer things. :<

IC: As I saw Elekid's attack, I realized that the Electric-type was getting desperate. I didn't want to risk getting Infernape paralyzed, and I also didn't want him to take the attack full-force. Unfortunately, Napetaro doesn't know Protect, so I have no sure-fire way of protecting it. There was one move that could possibly protect him from Discharge, and it was a risk I'd have to take.

"Napetaro, use Stone Edge, hide yourself behind the rocks! If your rock barrier breaks, dash at it with Mach Punch," I commanded.

Infernape jammed his fist into the ground, tearing out a large chunk of the tile and earth and coating his arm with it. The ape charged forward, trying to conceal as much of his body behind the rocky appendage as possible. Even as the surge of electricity flowed towards him, the Hardy Infernape was more concerned with readying a Mach Punch. As he ran, he pulled back his left arm. If the Stone Edge were to be destroyed, he would risk it all in a blinding burst of speed, in hopes for a quick knockout of the Elekid.

    vs. Elekid BP3

(Well, if you'd like, I can do to posts before making a Pokemon appear so that you can build your CC up.)

Elekid released all of the electricity that he had managed to collect. Sean did some quick thinking to determine how to counter against this attack that was usually sure to hit. Then, it was almost as if a light bulb flashed above his head because he had a great idea.

“Napetaro, use Stone Edge, hide yourself behind the rocks! If your rock barrier breaks, dash at it with Mach Punch,” he ordered his Infernape. Infernape nodded. He jammed his fist into the ground. A large chunk of rock came up with it. As he rushed towards Elekid, the electric attacks bounced off of the rock. At first, they didn’t do much to the rock, but as more electric beam struck the rock shield, it started to falter until finally, it crumbled.

All of the electric beams had dissolved and now Elekid remained standing, breathing heavily. One more hit from the fire-type and he would be finished. Infernape was under orders to use Mach Punch, if his rock shield was destroyed so that just what he did. His fist started to glow a white color, and he charged at the Elekid. He slammed into Elekid’s stomach. The little baby Pokémon was knocked on the ground.

Upon making contact with Elekid, static was discharged from the electric Pokémon’s fur. Luckily, it wasn’t enough to paralyzed Napetaro. Because Elekid had used up much of his stored electricity in that last attack, he didn’t have enough within his fur to do much to the attacking Pokémon.

Seeing that he had no chance of winning and that the trainer had no intentions on capturing him, Elekid got up from the ground and started to cry. Infernape jumped away from the Pokémon, and back to his trainer’s side.

I knew the general nature of Elekid. If things didn’t go their way, they would cry and go off to bully other Pokémon that were smaller than them. I walked up to the Pokémon, pulled a little doll from my backpack and handed it to him. The Pokémon immediately stopped crying and ran off with the doll.

I walked back to the trainer that I was escorting through the park.

“He’ll be okay,” I said. It wasn’t as if the trainer asked. I just wanted to tell him. I watched as the little Pokémon ran off around the building. I walked up to the door.

“So, shall we continue,” I asked, my hand on the doorknob, ready to open it. “Or do you have anything you would like to do before we go on?”

OOC: Yeah, that'd be nice, since I wanna be able to catch the rarer pokemon when they show up.

IC: “So, shall we continue,” Dee asked, hand on the doorknob, ready to open it. “Or do you have anything you would like to do before we go on?”

I watched the Elekid wander away as I thought about my next move. Finally, I decided that the best thing to do would be to just continue onwards.

"Okay, let's get moving," I said, then turned to Napetaro, "I want you to stay out of your Pokeball, in case its dark inside, you can light the way."

"Okay, let's get moving," Sean replied when I asked him if we should continue. He then turned to Napetaro and instructed him to stay out of his Pokémon in case the plant was dark.

Infernape’s flaming head was the perfect torch. Usually, whenever we went into the plant, Luxray ended up having to use Flash because trainers came unprepared. All sorts of problems arose, such as Luxray tiring out and Magnemite and Magneton trying to drain Luxray’s electricity.

I opened the door and we walked inside. It was dim inside and almost a bit spooky. It felt like a ghost Pokémon would pop up any second; however, I knew that there were no ghost types here. Fortunately, Infernape’s flames proved useful as the dim overhead lights did nothing to light up the plant. We continued walking, passing by Zubat that were hanging from the ceiling and Magnemite that were eyeballing us with their single eyes.

We continued to walk until we came upon an area with two hallways. No matter how often I had been through this maze, I could never remember what lead where. I did know, however, that no matter which way we went, we would get out eventually. I turned to Sean.

“There are two corridors here,” I said. “Which one should we go through?”

“There are two corridors here,” Ranger Dee said. “Which one should we go through?”

I examined the two large hallways carefully, struggling to make out any distinguishing features in the dim light. The corridors looked pretty similar, but I knew that the choice mattered. I felt a strong emanation from the right corridor, a gently humming of life. I then decided that the best thing to do was to just pick a side.

"Okay, I got a good feeling about this right corridor," I said, pointing in that direction.

When I asked Sean which path he thought we should take, he stopped and thought about it. A few seconds later, he pointed towards the right corridor.

“Okay, I got a good feeling about this right corridor," he said as he pointed.

“Right corridor it is,” I replied. I led the trainer and his Infernape down the right corridor.

It was starting to get darker, another reason I was glad that his Infernape came along. You’d think that a building full of electric-type Pokémon would be the brightest building in the world; however, that was not the case here. At some point, I thought, I may have to Luxray to use her Flash for some extra light. We continued down the hallway.

The hallway looked and felt like it would stretch on for miles. It was easy to get bored here and if it wasn’t for me having to stay on the lookout for any Pokémon waiting to ambush us, I would probably die of boredom.

My Luxray and I looked from side to side, watching for any Pokémon that may suddenly appear. Luxray’s x-ray eyes were the most effective, as she could see a Pokémon on the other side of the walls. Since we would obviously be travelling down this long corridor for a while, I decided to try and strike up a conversation with the trainer that I was escorting.

“Did you come here for a specific Pokémon?” I asked the trainer beside me.

“Did you come here for a specific Pokémon?” the ranger asked me.

"Actually, yes," I replied, feeling bored with the long walk, "you see, I've been looking for some Pokemon to add to my collection, mainly Porygon, but I'm also here to collect Rotom. They're really cool, and I hope to gather one of each form. I just hope I manage to find one today..."

    NBP5

(Just a heads-up, MCR for non-battle posts is 500 characters. Just keep that in mind when posting. Also, if I do post a Pokemon with a couple of posts in betwen, it's because it's a common Pokemon that doesn't have a high MCR.)

Sean replied that he was looking for a Rotom and a Porygon. Both were really good Pokémon. It was understandable why any trainer would want one.

“Well, I hope you find what you are looking for,” I replied. That was what the National Park was for: to get trainers the chance to obtain the Pokémon that they have always wanted.

Finally, a small room came into view. As if we were in a movie where the hero has to fight through levels with a boss on each level, there was a Pokémon in the corner of the room. It was looking down, but what it was doing, I couldn’t tell. A broken window to the right side of the room allowed light to come in. As a result, the room was brighter than the hallway that we had just walked through.

The Pokémon in the corner of the room looked up from whatever it was doing. It had curly ears, an orange body, a long tail and black feet. It looked up at us with the most menacing smile I had ever seen. I noticed that the Pokémon in the corner was a Raichu, the evolved form of Pikachu. Its cheeks started to spark. The Pokémon was looking for a battle, but it was up to Sean whether or not it would get one. Without turning away from the Pokémon, I pointed towards the Raichu in the room with us.

“Are you interested in capturing a Raichu?”

Raichu's sparking cheeks further illuminated the room. It's confident smirk taunted me, but I admired its spirit. I decided that I could spare a Hyper Ball or two to try and catch the Electric Mouse. Napetaro boldy stepped forward, eager to fight this new challenger.

"No, stay back Napetaro," I said, pulling out another Pokeball, "Dii-chan, let's go for it!"

The Pokeball exploded, revealing a purple glob with acute facial features. Dii-chan the Ditto gurgled mischieviously. I had the sneaking suspicion that it would try something bad before the battle was over. Still, Dittos were immune to paralysis, and this would be a major advantage in the battle to come.

"Dii-chan, start off by transforming into Napetaro!" I commanded.

My purple menace began jiggling profusely as it expanded its body. It began growing purple limbs and a head. Eventually, the purple goo changed colors to match Infernape's appearance. The added appendages would only increase Dii-chan's flexibility exponentially. This, along with its ability to alter its shape and body structure.

"Okay Dii-chan, start things off by using Earthquake," I said.

Dii-chan bounced forward, raising its hands in the air as if flew towards Raichu. It slammed its arms into the ground, creating a massive shockwave that easily destroyed the tile floor. Large chunks of the earth flew all around, debris flew into the air as it crumbled under Ditto's might.

    vs. Raichu BP1

(OOC: Pick what gender you want for the Raichu.)

Sean agreed to battle the Raichu. Raichu were very useful in a match. Even though they didn’t get as much attention as Pikachu did, they were very dependable. At first, Sean’s Infernape, Napetaro, wanted to battle, but Sean instead decided on using Ditto. Ditto was a great choice when countering Raichu’s ability to paralyze opponents by touching them.

Ditto emerged from its Pokeball. Upon its trainer’s command, the small amoeba-shaped Pokémon started to transform into its fire-type teammate. Its body stretched and mutated to form a purple gooey version of Infernape. Then, its color changed from purple to the colors that Infernape was.

The trainer’s first order to the transformed Ditto was to use Earthquake. Ditto jumped towards Raichu and slammed its fists down into the ground. The whole ground shook as Ditto hit the ground. The old tile on the ground crumbled up and flew into the air. Dust fell from the ceiling. The walls cracked. Most of all, Raichu was hurt by the impact of the attack. To him, it was like being in the center of the earthquake, where the most damage takes place. Even I struggled to stay standing.

I watched as the room was being destroyed by the attack. It was a great attack to use against an electric-type Pokémon like Raichu, but this building was too old to be able to withstand the attack. We could be hurt, not to mention the tons of Pokémon living within the building, if the building were to collapse. I didn’t want that to happen.

“Sean,” I called out to the trainer. “Be careful with your Earthquake attack. We don’t want the building falling down on us.” I looked up at the ceiling, and then the rest of the room. Everything had calmed down.

When Ditto jumped back to his trainer, Raichu stood up, surprised. It hadn’t expected the Pokémon to use an attack like that in the building. He was pretty hurt by the attack too. He had to protect his home no matter what.

The Raichu first had to throw the trainer and his Pokémon off guard. He split into five copies of himself. Only one of the copies Awas real. He charged towards Ditto. All five of the Raichu charged at the transform Pokémon with the intention to slam it into the ground.

    OOC: Female please.

The five Raichu charged Dii-Chan in response to the devastating Earthquake attack. Double Team was an annoying move to overcome purely because of the short time between the duplication and the point of impact. Still, if I could act quick enough, Dii-chan could easily avoid taking any damage whatsoever.

"Dii-chan, snag them all with Grass Knot!" I yelled, "and then hit whatever Raichu are left standing with Flare Bliz!"

The Ditto waved its arms, creating a glowing green rope. It shot the rope out, attempting to lasso all of the Raichu copies. The dupes would simply vanish on contact with the attack, but the real Raichu would be tripped up. When that happened, Dii-Chan would charge forward, surrounding itself in a veil of fire so intense, it would burn itself as well as the intended target.

    vs. Raichu BP2

The best way to counter a Double Team attack is to use an attack that would hit all of the user Pokémon’s duplications. That is exactly what Sean did.

"Dii-chan, snag them all with Grass Knot, and then hit whatever Raichu are left standing with Flare Blitz!” He commanded his Ditto, who, right now, was in the form of an Infernape.

Ditto produced a glowing green rope by waving its arms. Then, it swung the rope in an attempt to catch all of the Raichu and bind them together. It was like a cowboy roping up a bull, except Infernape was the cowboy and the Raichu group was the bull. Ditto succeeded in rounding up the Raichu and her clones. For a minute, they all struggled to get free, but when they were unable to, four of the clones disappeared, leaving the real Raichu behind.

Ditto charged after the Raichu. It became engulfed in flames while it ran. So flames were so intense that Ditto was also burned by the flames. It slammed into the Pokémon, who was still tangled up in the grass rope. The Pokémon flew back into the other side of the wall and hit it hard. While in the air, the Raichu had gotten free of the grass rope. It decided not to do any more close-range attacks. An attack from a distance would be much more effective.
The Pokémon launched a wicked bolt of electricity towards the Ditto. This time, however, the Raichu didn’t move from her spot.

    Re: Individual RP: Nyurgh

"Gah, this is what I hate about Electric-types," I sighed.

Raichu's Thunderbolt attack would be harder to deal with than Elekid's Discharge. The bolt was too focused for a Stone Edge barrier to work again. Of course, there was always a back-up defense. I then realized that the power plant churned out massive volts of electricity, meaning it had to be completely protected from this energy.

"Well, it's worth a shot," I sighed, "Dii-Chan, grab a piece paneling off the floor and use it as a shield."

The Ditto quickly dove, snatching up a piece of grey panel off the crumbled ground. It held the panel in the direction of Raichu's Thunderbolt. Of course, there was no need to stop there.

"Dii-Chan, start chucking some rocks at Raichu!" I yelled, "feel free to take some liberties with Napetaro's form."

Several long, slimy purple appendages shot out of Dii-Chan's transformed back. These extra limbs scooped up shattered pieces of the landscape and began hurling them at the stationary Raichu. It was times like these that I'm glad I have a Ditto...

OOC: Man I love this thing.
