The Torchic was shocked and severely offended when we tried to leave it alone. Its eyes glowed a fierce, amber red, and it aimed at the floating Forretress above Neon, still floating around, not yet summoned back in its ball- perhaps Neon forgot in all the chaos and confusion.

The Torchic welled up all the heat energy it had into the small, pointed beak it had. The amber burning inside started to emit intense amounts of heat. Then, the Torchic charge, yelling its battle cry at the same time. A huge Flamethrower flew out of its mouth. Forretress immediately dodged, but the heat of 1800 degrees farenheit scorched its body anyway, and ours too. It moaned, starting to realize how Onjx felt like.

I quickly took out my water bottle and sprayed my red ranger hat which caught fire. I looked at Neon. Lucky- not a single area caught fire, though he did look quite hot under the collar- like me.

Forretress barely pulled through the attack before darting back, looking at the Torchic in shock. It was quite a feat for a cute little bird to do such damage in one move. Luckily, no remnants of the fire remained on its body except for the still searing wound.

As Neon and Timpeni tried to escape, the Torchic became infuriated. How dare its opposition leave in the middle of a battle. It let out a screech and immediately got into position. Flames started to grow from its mouth. As it appeared to being to let out another screech, instead, flames came out! They enveloped the Forretress that had been forgotten in the commotion.

Fortress' steel shell heat up immediately, to the point where Neon thought it might melt. It scolded the poor creature inside and left it with barely drive left. Forretress could barely move at this point.

"Damn! Sorry bud. I can't believe you got mixed in with this. I don't really want the Torchic, but now that it attacked you, I won't bother with a pokedoll. Use Pain Split!" commanded Neon.

Forretress immediately put everything it had into its attack. It began to spin until it got up to a solid speed, it then took off hurtling at the Torchic. As it spun quicker and quicker, a mysterious aura began to appear between Forretress and Torchic. As the attack connected, a beam shot out of Torchic and entered Forretress. Forretress immediately felt better. Not perfect, but better.

"Now, Forretress, return!" Neon held out Forretress' pokeball and a red beam circled Forretress, returning it to its safe haven.

    "Now. Come on out Gastrodon!"

Torchic felt its health being forced out of its body. A white, misty light, exerting a powerful yet soothing glow was slowly leaking out of the little orange chest it had, pulled by an unseen force. Forretress concentrated, sweating, using his sophisticated mind to work its magic. It was like a tug-of-war, and Torchic was losing. Suddenly, Forretress let loose of the light, making Torchic fall back since its grip on the floating health was so tight, not to mention it was pulling hard. Forretress quickly grabbed its chance and absorbed the light. The burn healed a bit, though not completely. Forretress was albeit satisfied, and Neon was too, sending his little fortress into its ball. He then released a slug-like Pokemon, leaving a slimy patch on where it stood. Its eyes were pale and emotionless, staring at Torchic, who apparently seemed scared of the Pokemon, but reared up and fluffed its feathers, trying to look bigger in a failed attempt to intimidate the larger foe, who was confused at what the Torchic was doing.

Torchic then started to hop and flail, the ember in its body burning fiercely. Its head began to droop, and it went into a slight trance, still dancing in a very cryptic fashion. A green essence surrounded it, and it reminded me that the move was Sword Dance. But there was an unusual aura about it. Not to mention that Adamant Pokemoj hate using added moves. Suddenly, the mist flared a hot lava red before the Torchic screeched a battle cry. The shrill yell sent chills down my spine. It was as if the Torchic was possessed. It tore feathers from its body at an excessive rate, before forcing it to follow wherever its body went. Obviously, the Torchic wasn't bred to know Featherdance. It was forced to inflict damage upon itself, or maybe it was too stubborn to admit it was not winning.

The feathers drifted over to Gastrodon and stuck to her slimy body. It didn't have the soothing trait of most feather dance feathers, but instead it weakened Gastrodon, as if it absorbed her power. Gastrodon drooped, and Torchic raised its head. I immediately knew something was wrong. Its blackened, hollowed eyes were going to haunt me for as long as I remember it. I blinked, and I saw something that made me puke in my mouth.

The Torchic was a corpse, flesh simply hanging on its bones. Its innards were exposed and giving off a foul smell. But I knew this Torchic wasn't dead. The one eye hanging from its sockets still had the black stare, as well as its half-rotted oter eye. Some trace of life, of actual feeling was in them.

The human shaped figure we saw earlier was no where to be seen.

As Gastrodon came out, it let out a discontented sigh. After its battle with the Diglett, it thought it would be able to take a much longer. It looked around to see exactly what it was being summoned for, not seeing a threat anywhere in the darkness. When its eyes adjusted a tiny bit more, it could see a slight orange tint at the bottom of its vision. When it looked down, it saw its opponent. He was a Torchic who was trying to puff himself up to seem more threatening. If anything, he looked more ridiculous now. Gastrodon merely let out a chuckle at the sight in front of it.

Torchic got infuriated again. How dare his opponent laugh at him. He dropped his act of standing up, and instead began another form of intimidation. It started to dance. Although some may consider this a sign of insanity, Torchic knew exactly what it was doing. It began to move in increasingly violent movements while still maintaining its original hypnotizing movements. Just as the dance seemed to finish, another more violent one started. Torchic ended up ripping its own feathers out, propelling them at Gastrodon. This wasn't only a scare tactic; each feather stuck to Gastrodon making him feel weaker.

As Torchic finally stopped its dancing, Gastrodon was a little urked. Torchic thought it could get away with dancing * and making fun of Gastrodon for this long; he*was wrong. Gastrodon was now roaring to battle and put this little flame chicken out of its misery. Neon was happy to oblige.

"Gastrodon, show Torchic your favorite dance! Just how we practiced," instructed Neon.

Gastrodon began to excecute a perfectly correographed dance, shooting a spurt of water into the air every time it it finished a step. Soon enough, the light from the stars had been blocked out by a forming group of dark clouds. As the dance neared its climax, rain droplets began to fall from the sky. Soon the drizzle of water escalated into a downpour of sorts.

Neon had been more than prepared for this occasion. He hastily pulled an umbrella out of his pack and he propped it open above Timpeni and himself. A smile grew across his face as he watched his Gastrodon execute his commands perfectly, waiting for the final cue to bring the curtain down on this show.

"Alright, step two! Gastrodon use surf!"

As Gastrodon finished the last step of its dance, it leapt into the air and sprayed a quick burst of water at the ground. This blast propelled Gastrodon higher into the air, while also forming a wave for Gastrodon to ride and cushion its fall. Gastrodon easily landed on top of the mass of water, and quickly directed it towards the chicken in question.

Just as the wall of water began to descend on the chicken's position, a beam of moonlight broke through the overcast skies and illuminated the decaying corpse of the Torchic opposing them. It was an undead phenomenon straight out of a ghost story. Neon was glad to get this over and done with so that he could get away from this haunted land as quickly as possible.

The rain didn't seem to bother the zombified Torchic. The deep, glowing light that appeared at the back of its eye holes glowed blood red. The Torchic bore in pain as the Surf hit the small, frail body it possessed. But for some reason, Torchic still stood. The bird was rooted to the ground by an unseen force. I didn't want to meet that unseen force, the thing that was taking over, forcing the bird to fight. But then, I saw something I never knew could happen.

The Torchic ran up with such speed, such strength, it seemed the Torchic absorbed the power of the Surf and doubled it. Or it did. The fire bird was using Counter, a rare egg move only obtained through intensive choice breeding. The kick npsent Gastrodon back several feet, the sticky slime on its 'foot' the only thing in between Gastrodon and flying up from the kick. Gastrodon didn't look too good. The Torchic cried out in triumph, but it wasn't a normal cry. A shrill screamed, that was strong enough to split open the clouds. A ray of sunshine shone on the battlefield, and the choked up surroundings cleared. I gasped when I realized where we were. I didn't dare to edge close to the end. Thank god Gastrodon had the slime on it.

We were on the wide, carved path of the volcano. The big drop was far away, but it was making my heart thump. The magic transported us to this area. But... why? Why up this mountain? My GPS got a signal- finally- and it read "MASTER TRAINER ROUTE- VISITORS NOT ALLOWED". Uh oh. Not that I didn't believe in Neon, the trainer route was easy to breeze through with a Vaporeon. But... it was the amount of ghost sightings here that made me nervous.

Gastrodon's wave crashed down on the unsuspecting chicken. It washed around the Torchic, encircling it in a torrential whirlpool of salt water. When the blast cleared, the opposing Torchic remained upright. It kept up a tough demeanor, even when it was on the verge of returning to the realm of the dead.

The Torchic began to glow a crimson red coloring as the heat in the immediate area rose. The water that had puddled around the ground started evaporating. Torchic grew an even scarier demeanor. The red aura burst into a flaming shield around the chicken Pokemon. It then began to move. Its movements were blinding, making little more than a blur as it closed the gap between itself and Gastrodon. Torchic's eyes changed to a tint of blue that matched the wave that had just beaten it down. The same blue glow mixed with the flaming armor that had formed around Torchic. It now had a massive purple energy floating around it. As Torchic delivered a swift kick to Gastrodon, the entirety of the purple aura encircled Torchic's attacking claw and it exploded on contact with Gastrodon.

Gastrodon was sent flying through the air. It came crashing down with a thud. Gastrodon was pretty beat up. Neon could see this, and immediately put his final tactic into play. He had to think of a way to recover its health while also finishing off his opponent. Then Neon got an idea.

"Gastrodon, use recover! And while your recover suck the water from the rain to your carapace. Then after you finish recovering, release all that water as a powerful Water Pulse with no charging."

Gastrodon followed the plan, beginning to glow as its wounds started to heal up.

The water was drawn in, a a ball of the cool liquid was blasted at the Torchic. This time, it couldn't stay on its feet. It was sent back several meters before it came to a halt. Its skin regrew, its eyes popped back (Which disgusted me greatly), and it was now an ordinary Torchic that was lying on the ground. I found my breathing slowed down a bit. Good- it was down. Yet... there was something mightily wrong about everything. Why were we here anyway? Was there any purpose of being teleported here?

It was then that a human-shaped figure approached. I gasped. It wasn't a human after all. It was a Blaziken, as decayed and destroyed as the Torchic in zombie mode. It roared passively, picking up the Torchic, and hissed. Well, if it was protective, why didn't it help out with the battle? Pokemon can be confusing. But the Blaziken that was staring at us right now was more worrying than anything else. I looked at Neon, and he stared back. Things were going to turn ugly... or, uglier.

As Gastrodon released his giant bullet if waterbat Torchic, things started to return to normal. The rain stopped, the sky cleared and suddenly the sun was high in the sky. For some reason the dark nighttime they had just experienced was disappearing. It appeared to have just been an eerie illusion. Just as the night began to fade, the grotesque features of the now unconscious Torchic were completely fixed and returned to normal. This was just an all around weird battle.

As Neon returned Gastrodon to its Pokeball, he looked around and saw the familiar landscaping from earlier that day. He wondered exactly where he was and why he was there. As he looked over at Timpeni, he noticed her GPS seemed to he activated and working. In small font on the side, he read something about being on an advanced path. He quickly looked around and noticed the strange figure from before. It wasn't quite a ghost or even a human figure at all. Instead, it turned out to be the final evolution of the Pokemon he had just battled.

"Super flaming chicken..." mumbled Neon to himself. He quick glanced over at Timpeni and shared a look of uncertainty with her. He decided that they both should escape now in hopes of not getting caught up in another lengthy battle. They slowly tip toed away, trying to keep their presences hidden from the towering Blaziken.

The slowly backed away before sprinting away at high speeds, getting away from the Blaziken. The howls of anger was still ringing in our ears as it chased us. I quickened my pace rapidly, faster than I ever have run before. My protesting legs and short breathes were not noticed, for my mind shouted at me to keep moving. Neon was the same, and in fact a bit faster than me. I had to go faster... faster...!

That was when the Blaziken suddenly stopped. It turned around and went back, to my amazement. It was also no longer zombified. Maybe... maybe the field we were in had something... special? But then, why did Blaziken want to return if it was now free from zombification? There was something weird going on. I didn't have to contemplate on it much, though, for then, a cute Flareon walked up, looking quite nice- compared to the others we have encountered...

OOC: I have done this three times already, but something goes wrong every time :(

Neon and Timpeni took off, sprinting away from the crazed demonic chicken. Even more frightening was the fact that it was not only crazed and demonic, but alsoore than proficient in deadly martial arts. Both of the trainers heard the Blaziken take off after them, slowly closing the head start they had gained on it. Every stride it took was much larger and quicker than anything that was humanly possible. It began to look like Neon would have to battle another zombie chicken creature, but something peculiar happened. Just as Blaziken came within an arm's reach of Neon, it suddenly stopped. Neon and Timpeni noticed the lack of its movement immediately. In turn, they both looked around to see what had happened. The fighting-type pokemon was no longer decaying and undead, instead it seemed like Amy other pokemon. This was great news, for Neon and Timpeni at least. Oddly enough, the Blaziken didn't seem too thrilled about the change that had taken place. Instead of welcoming the return of its health and vigor, it turned around and returned to the zone that had changed it so much. As it disappeared on the horizon, Neon could make out the slow decay of its body once again.

Neon and Timpeni decides that now was an excellent time to take a break, after all, they hadn't had one in forever. They both found some flattened rocks and they sat down, relishing in the relaxation. Soon enough, though, they were interrupted by another pokemon encounter. This time it was a fire-type pokemon as well, but it lacked the ability to use martial arts. in fact it seemed like it couldn't do much outside of pyromancy. If cute was a weapon though, it would be considered a secret weapon during wars. It was the most adorable creature Neon had ever laid eyes on. He remembered hearing it called a Flareon before. The person who told him that also warned him about something else it could do. He couldn't place what it was.

The silence was finally broken when Timpeni asked Neon, "Want to battle this Flareon?"

"As adorable as it may be, I really don't have much interest in fighting it. I wouldn't be able to catch it as I am now, anyways. Let's just try and get out of here without disturbing it," replied Neon.

I walked away from the Flareon, who was also content with parting ways- unlike some Pokemon. we kept on walking down the trail, hopefully to the nearest camp, where we could hop a ride on a teleporter to a place less open to unexpected death from fire, falling or simply by pure freak accident. In the middle of the path, a silhouette appeared. It was human shaped, but it had to be a very fat and long-necked human if it was one. When I looked closer, I saw the flames on the shiny green back.

It was a Typholosion. The Pokemon reared up, large and grand. It didn't seem to intent on battling, though. It was collecting something- a piece of freshly-torn meat was hanging from its canine teeth. I shuddered to think what Pokemon that was.

Flareon easily parted ways with the two trainer's not really desiring a fight and just being content with having seen the pair. So Neon and Timpeni walked off casually, a welcome transition to their usual escapes. Soon they came upon a new threat, a towering form that was creating the most gut-wrenching noises anyone could possibly imagine. Neon and Timepni both went on the defensive and cautiously rounded the creature, in the hopes of discerning the situation that they were now in. They tip-toed around to the front of the monster, and got an eye full.

This monster was actually a very rugged looking Typhlosion. It seemed to have been in countless battles in its day. It was also a fire-type pokemon, which was made abundantly clear by the collar of flames that it possessed. The noises it was making was the sound of it tearing apart some poor pokemon and devouring its raw meat. The flaming Pokemon now noticed Neon and Timpeni, it didn't seem to want to fight, it only really cared about eating at the moment. Neon became sufficiently worried about the well being of Timpeni and himself. So he decided that he would take his business elsewhere before the creature finished its meal and wanted desserts.

Timpeni caught on to Neon's plan as they both began to slowly make their way towards a nearby hill where they could remove themselves from the fearsome creature's field of vision. Typhlosion kept an eye on them as they backed away, making sure nothing suspiscious was going on.

The Typhlosion simply munched down the gruesome dinner it possessed as we walked away. That was a bit too close for the likes of me, being the one who always gets mauled or half-eaten during runs and whatnot. We found a separate route to go down the slope, only to have a rock fall and form a mighty bump on my head. A loud 'Geodude' was heard as I got up, rubbing the new red sore that has formed.

"Why is it always me?" I said, as the rock stretched its arms and opened its rock eyelids. I looked at Neon, who was also looking at the rock creature. It looked like a hybrid between a rock and an old wig. Don't mind my weird interpretation of things, though. I awaited the answer from Neon to come, even if I didn't ask the question. By now, he should know what I needed to do with every Pokemon that came along this run, no matter how big or how small.

The Typhlosion lost interest in the two and simply let them go, focusing primarily on the meal at hand. With another sickening crunch, as the Typhlosion ran into another spare bone, Neon and Timepni were out of there.

They soon came up on another mountainous path, clearly less dangerous than some of the roads they had taken. Deeming it a welcome change of pace, both trainers continued up it, looking towards the horizon and thinking of the wonderful pokemon they could run into. Soon their daydreaming got cut off by the interruption of falling rocks. A few pebbles scratched Neon lightly, while a tremendous rock collided straight on with Timpeni's head. Neon quickly rushed over to see if she was alright, when he realized it wasn't just any old rock. The rock uncurled to reveal a sleeping Geodude. It woke up slowly, starting to get cranky about being disturbed. Timpeni mumbled something about being the one who should be complaining, but Neon wanted to avoid any real conflict with the creature. Timpeni looked at Neon, silently asking if he wanted this pokemon. He simply pulled her along and attempted to leave as quickly as possible.

The Geodude, upon seeing us flee, determined us as weak and rammed into me. The large rock head it had sustained no damage, but I think I might have. People call me lucky to not have died from all these incidents happening to me of all people. I do not agree with them. I shoved the Pokemon off my back and looked at Neon. The thing won't leave... gah. Everything wanted to make this day harder than it already is.*

As Neon and Timpeni caught there balances and attempted to continue their travel down the path ahead of them, the awoken Geodude from earlier decided he wasn't comfortable just letting the humans, who woke him, walk away so easily. He re-asserted himself and launched himself at the back of the female trainer's head. The collision was a hard one. Timpeni stumbled forward and lost her balance again. The Geodude laughed.

This rock was now getting on Neon's nerves. He just wanted to continue onwards and find some rare pokemon. Instead he runs into a grumpy rock with arms who thinks he even stands a chance in a fight against one of Neon's pokemon. Sadly, that wasn't the case. Neon could easily wipe the floor with him. So, instead of taking the violent path, Neon decided to take the moral high ground and buy a pokedoll for the stone to battle. That would certainly last a while with the abilities of this particular Geodude. Neon handed the replacement money over to Timpeni and awaited as she removed a doll from her bag.

9500-500=9000 (I set aside 10k for every run I do. Just so I don't accidentally spend it)

The Pokedoll was thrown, and the Geodude picked it up, then punching it. As it was distracted by its new toy, we quickly made a break for it, continuing down the route. The teleportation device, as seen on my GPS, was right at the bottom. It would take us right back to Ranger Outpost, where I can send off Neon and take a break. But of course, he must first either want to go back to finish all the assigned encounters.

I spotted two horns in the distance. Tied to a crippled tree, the Houndoom tried to pull of its muzzle. To have a muzzle, the Pokemon must have been quite vicious to someone, which almost stopped me from removing the muzzle. But the pitiful look in the dog's eyes made my hands act on their own. I felt the wet cloth beneath the muzzle that stopped any moves as I pulled out the muzzle, and the strong cord attached to it. The Houndoom jumped in the air, meaning victory, in a sense, but jumped upon me, licking my face.

"Want to battle this Houndoom?" I said, crawling out from under the ridiculously happy Pokemon.

Timpeni quickly released the pokedoll from her bag, distracting the Geodude from its current angry fit. It began to vent its frustration on the doll as Neon and Timpeni slowly creeped away. Both of them continued on down the path they had been following. Soon, they came upon a cliff edge that overlooked the ranger station they had started at. Should Neon wish to leave, it would be a simple walk away. Neon was too determined, though. He wanted to find just one more rare pokemon to add to his roster.

Soon, as they continued down the winding path that would eventually return them both to their regular every day lives, the passed what appeared to be a tree that kept shaking and making muffled noises. As they approached the peculiar sight, a figure came into focus. It was that of a demonic hound. Albeit having a rather malevolent appearance, the two trainers felt compassion when they noticed it was bound and muzzled to the tree. Timpeni soon was overtaken by her desire to help all pokemon and she immediately went to free the dog. When it was freed, it leapt on top of Timpeni and began to affectionately lick her face.

"Want to battle this Houndoom?" asked Timpeni as she struggled to fight off the affectionate dog pokemon that was smothering her in its love.

"As much as I would love to, I just couldn't. I couldn't bring myself to hurt such a charming pokemon without being able to catch it afterwards and let it become part of my team. Just inflicting damage to a pokemon isn't what I do," replied Neon.

Soon Timpeni managed to force herself off the ground and both the trainers started off towards their ultimate goal.

We parted ways with the Houndoom, who ran off, continuing its not-so-normal life. We were just a few minutes or so away from the base, and around here were far more domesticated Pokemon, grown used to the presence of humans, so there was little to fear about rouge, rampaging Pokemon, who frequent the higher regions of the mountain. Now that the end was in sight, it was a bit sad, really. The run would end, and most trainers and rangers never see each other again. Sure, we can give each other our contact details, but many of these runs are short-lived and plain, leaving the trainer saying a quick 'bye' before jumping on the boat to go battle a gym leader of some sort, not thinking about the way they obtained the Pokemon.

"Oh, lookie here." I said, snapping out of these train of thoughts. A Camerupt was chewing something that looked like grass, yet had a bit of tender-looking textures. The Camerupt didn't really pay attention to us as we walked close to it. It humped its back, tearing off a few plants off the bare but definitely very fertile land. People had to drop seeds here everyday. They grew well in the ash and deep in the ground due to the trampling of Pokemon, but they were eaten before they reached adulthood- Pokemon liked young shoots, not large ones.

    "Want to battle this Camerupt?"

As both of the trainers continued on their path, the Houndoom happily set off in search of its family, happy that it could now be certain that it would see them again. Neon smiled at this thought. It wasn't quite often he could say he got a genuine smile out of helping those in need, but this was one of those cases. He and Timpeni came closer and closer to the ranger outpost, and soon the pokemon around then started to show more signs of domestication. They didn't even bother moving when they caught glimpses of humans. They just shrugged off the intrusion and continued with their lives. Neon could only hope that something would turn up in his next few encounters or else he would have to go home with an empty slot in his pokeball bag.

Soon Neon and Timpeni fell into a silence, both thinking through what they were planning in doing after the run finished, and both seemed to lose track of what they had come here to do in the first place. Neon was broken out of this state, though, when he heard Timpeni mumble something. Just then he noticed a nearby grazing Camerupt. They both looked at it in shock. It was so close to them, and it seemed not to care. They were also perplexed as to how they hadn't noticed it. This was just a weird event.

Timpeni broke the confusion by asking the obligatory, "Want to battle this Camerupt?"

Neon replied with a swift and firm, "No, thanks."

Neon then started to continue on down the path.
