Kazuma declined my offer of a rest, saying, that there were Pokemon up ahead just ready for the finding. I couldn't say that I blamed him for his eagerness. Hopefully we would find some excellent 'mons up ahead, on the mountain's higher, harsher reaches.

After only a short walk - during which the rest of the hailstorm's bitter winds eased off, thank heavens! - I saw a flicker of movement up ahead. A curious Vanillish emerged from a rock crevice, its cyan eyes round with wonder and not a small bit of nervousness at us strange humans. No doubt it had been attracted by the cold winds that had blown through. I shot Kazuma a rather wry glance and gestured toward the Vanillish, causing it to flinch slightly.

"Well," I said. "It's there if you want it, I suppose. If not, we should be able to skirt the thing fairly easily, seeing as how it's so skittish of us. Choice is yours."

    OOC: if the escape does not work i’m buying a doll. {14,500 - 500 = 14,000} @VeloJello
    ------

I was ready to get on with this run. Me and my Ranger set off up the mountain side. As we were going up the winds from the last battle cleared away, the weather was still freezing cold but I didn’t mind. It was not long before another Pokemon was spotted, and it was not hard to tell what it was. Vanillish the evolved form of Vanillite, the same Pokemon I just caught. My Ranger asked me if I wanted to capture it.

“Nope, I don’t want this Pokemon. Let run away if it does not let us I have the money for a doll.”

I opened my bag and got my money ready.

Just as I - with my uncanny detective skills - predicted, Kazuma wanted nothing to do with the Vanillish. We started to walk in its direction at a steady pace, both unafraid and unchallenging, and Vanillish backed off, retreating back into its crevice. Good. Another successful encounter with the local wildlife.

The mountain trail continued to lead steadily upward, and a faint chill came over the air - not due to the tampering of the native Pokemon, but from the altitude. There would be tougher Pokemon ahead for sure - the Pokemon living on the cold slopes had to be tough in order to survive.

"Smoochum!" the cry caught my wandering thoughts. I looked down and to my left to see a little pink penguin sitting in a nest of twigs and down. The Ice-type looked up at Kazuma and I wonderingly. I stepped back to allow Kazuma room if he wanted to attack. I wasn't sure if he would - Jinx, Smoochum's evolution, wasn't an amazing Pokemon, but it was usable. Not to mention that it was funny-looking and the strategies behind it were... interesting, to say the least.

"Here's a Smoochum," I said. "You can go for it, or we can try to scoot by."

The Vanillish didn’t want to fight, which was fine with me. Both me and my Ranger continued right in the, the mountain side. A chill creeped down my spin the, soon the winds would began to pick up. But for now the they stayed still, for us.

“Smoochum!” A Pokemon called out. I cound not help but think to my self, this Pokemon. Smoochum was a okay Pokemon when it Evolved. But I didn’t like it, at all it was not the kind of Pokemon I wanted, So I turned to my Ranger and said.

“I don’t want this Pokemon. Let’s see if it will leave us alone if not. I’ll buy a doll from you.”

I opened up my bag and grabbed the money out, incase this went south.

This was Gaius's third run since coming back his vacation from work. His first two had gone by fine, but this was taking place in an area of the park that he didn't really like, Mt. Oktori. The only place he hated visiting more was Meteor Valley. Gaius would be taking over the run from a newer ranger, someone he never met before. Taking over a run was fine, he had done it before, and asked others to do the same for him. The problem was that the ranger had vanished without an explaination and Kazuma had been left up there for half an hour before he was able to make contact with the office. He snagged three of the Pokeball containing his Pokemon and went outside the office. He called out one of them, his Dragonite, and was soon flying towards the mountain fast as the Pokemon could get there.

When he arrived at Kazuma's location the Pokemon, Smoochum, that was supposed to be there had already wandered off. The ranger hopped off his Pokemon, recalled it, and introduced himself to the client. No sooner had the introductions been made when an ice cream-like Pokemon appeared from over a snowdrift. Gaius had studied the details of the run on Dragonite's back on the way over and knew that Kazuma had already seen one of these Pokemon, and he had caught the low evolution form of it. So he knew that the trainer wouldn't be interested in this Pokemon. Kazuma would have to decide how he wanted to fight this Pokemon.

So there I was sitting on a mountain throwing snow balls with a Smoochum, my Ranger was no were in site. She just took off without saying anything. A few minutes went by and the little Pokemon wondered off up the mountain, leaving be here all by myself. I sat on a frozen rock and waited for someone to come and finish my run with me. About half a hour later a Dragonite appeared in the sky, it landed and a Park Ranger jump off it’s back. Finally someone had come, the ranger introduced his self. As did I, and no sooner then that did another pokemon come wondering down the mountain side. I knew right away what it was. Vanillish a Pokemon I had already ran from. This was just my luck. I did not want to battle this Pokemon. SO I made that clear to my new Ranger.

“I do not wish to batt;e this Pokemon, if we can let move pass it please. If it wont let us I will buy a pokedoll from you.”

“I do not wish to battle this Pokemon, if we can let move pass it please. If it wont let us I will buy a pokedoll from you,” Kazuma said adamantly. Gaius wasn't surprised in the slightest, since Kazuma had already ran into the Pokemon already once before. Luckily for him, the Vanillish decided Kazuma wasn't worth its time and the Pokemon retreated from our sight in a short amount of time.

Gaius made a proper introduction to the trainer and pointed out the direction in which he would take them. They were already pretty high up on the mountain, so by the time they worked their way towards the base Kazuma should have run into all the encounters he was allowed. If he still hadn't by the time they reached the base then they could still look around some. Because a snowstorm had passed through this area two days ago the snow was piled high. Gaius snapped on his snowshoes to work his way through the snow, otherwise it would take longer than he wanted. The ranger located the path he was going to take and started down it. The pair had only been walking about five minutes when Gaius heard a thumping sound off the path. He went over to investigate the noise and found a Meditite there practicing its fighting moves against a solid rock face. Gaius wasn't sure if Kazuma wanted the Pokemon so he asked him.

    "You want that Meditite?"

We waited to see what Vanillish would, lucky for me the Ice Pokemon wondered off. After which my Ranger gave me a proper introduction. I was glad to get started back on my run, and I didn’t want to waste anymore time just sitting here. Ranger Gaius Tyrannius, told me we had gone far enough up the mountain. And now it was time to head back down, on top if that a snowstorm was on it way. It would be a hole lot better to be at the bottom of this mountain when it hit, then at the top.

So we started to go back down the mountain, and to tell the truth this run had been a big disappointment, I had run into six Pokemon, and only got one of them. And I didn’t even want it I only got it as a back up pokemon if I didn’t fine any good ones. But just as all hope was about gone, a sound came from up ahead. We walked around a corner to find my favorite fighting Pokemon. Meditite, the fighting and psychic type Pokemon, the little blue and white was practicing its fighting moves against a solid rock face.

It’s was about time I found a good Pokemon. And I knew just what Pokemon would be in this fight, Torterra my big green and brown Pokemon. Torterra was grass and ground but could take a Pokemon like this, I had faith it my Pokemon, I knew it would not let me down.
And so I unclipped Torterra’s contaminate unit, then I called forth my Pokemon. The Pokéball opened up, a red crimson light beam from with in, and Torterra appeared at my feet. All right, let’s get this started the element of surprise is a great to have.

    “Alright use Curse.”

Torterra’s, body turned red as she focused her power. “Now, use you’re Bite attack!”

Torterra took off at the little Pokemon the battle had started.

Instead of replying by using word, Kazuma pulled a Pokeball off his belt in response. Gaius could tell he was eager to get this battle going because he launched right into attacking. The Pokemon he had chosen for the fight was his Torterra, a strong Ground and Grass type Pokemon. It wasn't as powerful as some Grass and Ground Pokemon, but the beast still could pack a wallop. The Meditite would have its hands full dealing with this Pokemon, even if Kazuma's Pokemon didn't know any extra moves.

“Alright, use Curse,” Kazuma commanded first.

Curse wasn't a bad move for the Pokemon to use, as it was already slow and the extra defense would help against the high attack of Meditite. Curse would also boost the attack of Torterra, allowing its attacks to do more damage. However, with that higher attack, Kazuma would have to be more careful in his move choice so that he didn't knock out the Fighting and Psychic Pokemon. If he did knock out the Pokemon by accident, then the park rules said he couldn't attempt the capture. Many thought that rule could be changed, but that was for another day.

However, the Meditite had a plan of its own. Before Torterra could complete the Curse move, the Meditite jumped to the front of Torterra and smacked it hard. Torterra flinched, ending the Curse move, which was Meditites plan all along.

“Now, use your Bite attack!” Kazuma said, not at all fazed by the Meditite's Fake Out move.

The Ground Pokemon opened its maw of a mouth wide and charged the wild Pokemon, ready to bring its teeth down and bite the Pokemon. Meditite saw the attack coming and reacted first. It bounded forward and punched Kazuma's Pokemon in the face, which made it easier for Torterra to Bite the Pokemon. Torterra clamped down on its right arm and flung the Pokemon away. Because Meditite was part Fighting and Psychic type, the attack was only normal effectiveness, but it still had hurt the Pokemon. Kazuma would need much more than that though to capture this Pokemon.

In the middle of using curse, Meditite jump into he air and hit Torterra smack in the face, making her flinch. I commanded Torterra to use Bite attack, her opened her mouth wide and charged the Fighting Pokemon. But once again it fired first with a Bullet Punch attack, Meditite made it easy for Torterra’s attack to hit. She clapped on it arm and threw Meditite away. I’m sure that in it’s mind that was well worth it.

Meditite, showed me that it was going to to put up a fight, and that I just can’t abide by. However I needed to tread carefully, Meditite had a few moves such as Psychic, and Hi Jump Kick. Those would be painful, but if anyone could do this I knew it was my Torterra. But right now what I want to do is chip at Meditite nice and slowly, then strike hard and fast.

I had a few ideas for what I could to. but first I took a good look around me to see if there was anything in the area I could use to cause serious damage to Meditite. I had a few ideas but they would until later, the main thing right now was just to poke at it, and maybe get so health back it possible. One on one I knew Torterra had this in the bag. Now time to strike!

Would this plan work? There was only one way to find out.

    “Torterra, use Giga Drain!”

Torterra braced it self then focused in on Meditite, she was about to use power her to sap that life right out of Meditite and use it for her self.

"Torterra," Kazuma looked at his Pokemon, "use Giga Drain."

Giga Drain was one of the more powerful Grass type attacks known. It had a power ranking of seventy five, which was right around the middle, but what the move special was that it healed the attacking Pokemon for half of the damage dealt. As everyone knew, lifesteal was pretty important as it allowed the Pokemon to sustain longer in a fight. However, as with other moves, just because it was good didn't mean it was right for this situation. In this case, it was a bad move. Meditite being a Fighting and Psychic type meant that the Grass type would be a very ineffective move. It would do a very small amount of damage, even with it gaining the same type attack bonus.

Torterra focused its green eyes on Meditite and stared at the Pokemon with a laser intensity. While the attack was sometime visible to the human eye, it could also be something that wan't visible. When the attack could be seen it was like a bunch of small bits of energy being drawing from the enemy Pokemon and heading towards the user. It did have other appearance, but many people believed that how it appeared was based off the Pokemon using the attack.

Meditate didn't seem to realize what was happening, but Gaius noticed the Pokemon's shoulders beginning to sag as the attack started to effective the wild Pokemon. Meditite's eyes widened in comprehension and it reacted quickly. It slammed one hand sharply against the ground. Immediately a column of rock rose up in the direct spot Torterra had just vacated. Normally the attack probably would have hit, but the sudden drain in energy had sapped some of the speed from Meditite.

Torterra Giga Drain attack sapped the life out Meditite. The Fighting Psychic Pokemon was weakened for just a monment, long enough for it’s Rock Tomb attack to miss Torterra. I watched the earth rise from Meditite attack, I could this to my advantage if done right.

Meditite was no match for my superior intelligence I had this in the bag, I saw how this would play out in my head. Divide and conquer is the master plan, I didn’t have any moves that could really put a hurt done on Meditite so I will do the net best thing. Sting attacks, the idea was to get Meditite focus on a decoy attack, then strike from the shadows with the main attack. Which in the case was Leech Seed, and the decoy was Razor Leaf.

I saw how all this played out in my head but could I execute this? only one way to find out!

I look at Torterra, and she looked back at me and nodded to me signaling that she was ready for what ever I was going to throw at her.

“Torterra use Razor Leaf attack on the Rock pillars!”

    {Roar!!!}

Torterra leting out a vicious animal roar, followed by a dozen Razor Leafs. At full speed they cutting right through the rocks, the pillars of rock came crashing down multiple boulders went rolling for Meditite.

    “Torterra use Leech Seed attack!”

Torterra took a deep breath then exhaled out dozens of little seeds, they filled the skys up and spread out all over the place. Unless Meditite could stop it. I watch in excitement to see if it could do just that.

Kazuma seemed to think of something that he wanted to do because he ordered his Pokemon to attack.

“Torterra use Razor Leaf attack on the Rock pillars!”

This made Gaius frown as there was no reason to actually do this attack on the growth of rock. Unless Kazuma somehow wanted to manipulate the smaller chunks of rock that would come from it, he would succeed in doing nothing to damage the wild Pokemon and only weaken his Pokemon by wasting energy. The Torterra answered its master with a roar and the Razor Leaf move. About a dozen leaves sprang up around the Torterra's body with a green glow around. The Razor Leaf attack zoomed towards the rocks at a high speed. When they hit the rock there was a slicing sound. Nothing happened for about two seconds, then the rocks simply collapsed upon themselves to from just another pile of rocks. Disappointment was etched on Kazuma's face, but he moved past it and ordered his next attack almost immediately.

    "Torterra, use Leech Seed."

Leech Seed was a Grass type move that sapped life from the Pokemon that it was attached to. This energy would then transfer to the Pokemon who had used the attack. It was a very popular move for stalling a match to gain life over time or to similar drain the enemy Pokemon over time if they couldn't beat them straight out. Gaius had used the tactic on more than once occasion with his Ludicolo and Whimsicott. It was an annoying move for any Pokemon to deal with. Torterra launched some spores into the air and those quickly formed seeds. The seeds fell out of the air, right onto the recovering Meditite.

The Meditite cringed as the seeds latched onto his skin and sprouted vines, which dug into the skin and began to leech energy from the Pokemon, healing Torterra. The Meditite struggled to its feet and launched itself at Kazuma's Pokemon, one fist bunched a glowing with energy. When Meditite punched Torterra, there was a detonation. When the smoke cleared the Torterra was stumbling about on ungainly feet, clearly confused. This meant that Meditite had used Dynamic Punch, a powerful Fighting type move that caused Confusion.

It would seem things didn’t play out the way I saw them in my head in fact it was a big fat failure. The only thing that went right was the Leech Seed, so It was not all bad. The seeds that Torterra shot forth from it body had landed on Meditite and planted their root into Meditite’s body. I knew that the fighting Pokemon could feel it;s power been sucked from it, however this little Pokemon was not down yet, Meditite’s fist was a glow burning with energy it’s will to win this fight was incredible. The fighting Pokemon gave a good right hook hitting Torterra right in the face.

The smoke which had filled our air had cleared and my Pokemon was unstable on it’s feet, a Dynamic Punch attack. This attack Confused anyone that is hit by it no matter what, things had just got bad, however I was not worried I still had this battle I just needed to be a bit more careful about what I do.

I knew what I had to do, and how to do it. I would start by getting Torterra out of there, she was a great fighter and powerful to say the least but I could not risk he taking anymore damage I still need her in this run. This battle was now up to Excadrill, I took out Torterra containment unit and called back my Pokemon.

“Torterra return! good try rest now. Alright, Excadrill, come forth and crush thy enemy!”

The ground under my feet rumbled, Excadrill was rising. He emerged from the ground and landed at my feet, Ecadrill ahd the ability Sand Force this would up all his ground attacks in a sandstorm. Since their was not one around guess we would be making our own.

    “Excadrill use Sandstorm!”

Excadrill braced it self the focused it;s power, his body started to glow a blue and his eyes blood shot red. The wind began to shift and pick up, grains of sand started to hit me in the back of the neck before I knew it fierce wind mix with sand were blowing, Excadrill loved this type of weather.

    “ Excadrill use Rock slide!”

As winds blew and sand shifted through the air, Exacdrill lifted up his arm on the side of each one was what looked like blades, blades that could cut through rock. Excadrill slashed a boulder in two then kicked it into the side of the mountain, the impacted sent shock wave through the mountain and dozens of large boulder fell from the sky.

“Excadrill, use dig, get under ground!”

Excadrill jumped into the air and started to spin like crazy. He hit the ground and disappeared from my site.

“Torterra, return! Good try, rest now. Alright, Excadrill, come forth and crush thy enemy!” Kazuma said as he recalled his Pokemon and sent forth another.

Gaius was a little confused about the sudden chance in Pokemon choices. Sure, the Torterra was confused, but the Excadrill would have a much harder time against the Meditite because the wild Pokemon's attack would be more effective against Excadrill because it was part Steel type, versus the Ground and Grass of Torterra. It did seem that Kazuma had a plan, so they would have to wait and see how it developed. To the surprise of Gaius, Excadrill was already out of its Pokeball. It simple burst from the ground, drill first, like something out of a movie. Kazuma must have summoned the Pokemon forth when Gaius wasn't paying attention.

"Start with Sandstorm, followed by Rock Slide, and Dig!" Kazuma commanded almost immediately. Calling that many attacks in such a short order meant that Kazuma had a battle plan all prepared. He had just better hoped it worked, because complicated plans had the tendency to fall apart at the worst moments in time.

As Excadrill started with the Sandstorm attack, Meditite used a move of its own. It looked like it was focusing on nothing, but a closer look at the air around it showed an almost invisible barrier forming. This left two option, either Light Screen or Reflect. Seeing as how Excadrill was more a Physical Pokemon, chances were that it was the latter move and not the former. In only a few seconds a brutal sandstorm had settled down upon the battlefield. While not harmful to a human, a sandstorm was still irritating to say the least. On a plus note for Gaius, upon seeing that Kazuma had brought two Ground Pokemon with him, he had decided to bring along goggles and scarf for this exact reason. He quickly covered his face and turned to watch the rest of the battle unfold.

Excadrill moved first. The Pokemon quickly broke some chunks of stone into manageable pieces and sent them flying towards Meditite in a rain of deadly projectiles. The Meditite didn't seem overly concerned as it crouched lower and brought palms forward. A light glow surrounded the fists of the Fighting Pokemon and it jumped forward, right into the Rock Slide. Any rock that was its in path is smashed right through. Gaius was impressed by the Pokemon. It was using a move called Force Palm to not only narrow the gap, but eliminate some of Excadrill's attack. It would take less damage by crushing the stone, but its attack would also do less damage. When Meditite cleared the debris thrown at it, he was right in front of the Excadrill. It brought both palms forward and slammed them into the chest of Kazuma's Pokemon. Excadrill's body stiffened right as Meditite made contact, meaning that the secondary effect of Force Palm had worked. Excadrill was now paralyzed.

It would be interesting to see how Kazuma reacted next. He would have to be careful though. With the Leech Seed and Sandstorm still affecting Meditite, too powerful an attack could knock the Fighting type Pokemon out.

This battle was almost done just a little bit more and I had this. With the sandstorm raging Meditite seeded and Excadrill paralyzed it had me wondering just what to use. I was unable you use anymore powerful moves since it was low on health, and also seeded which means it will lose health from that as well.

I had a few choices, I could use a Slash, Rapid Spin, or Fury Swipes. All of which would leave it with a nice chunk of health, then again Meditite has put up Reflect which cut the attack of moves like slash which also means I could take the chance and use another Rock Slide attack, but once again that took me back to square one, the Pokemon being seeded if it lost to much health the seeds might be enought to KO.

I took a nice look around the field of battle scanning to see if I could use anything to my advantage, however this mountain terrain demands my Excadrills rock and ground moves. There was a chill in the air perfect for the Ice attacks but I was out of luck that and Ice Pokemon got hammered hard by Fighting Pokemon.

Well I had made up my mind Slash attack seemed to be the best attack since I only wanted to lower it health just enough for my Parkball to work. And some I gave my command to Excadrill.

    "Excadrill, use Slash attack!"

Excadrill claws started to shine a bright silver he dashed off right for Meditite full speed it was the start of the end.

Kazuma seemed to think long and hard about what he was going to do. Which was understandable because a misstep at this stage of the battle could spell disaster and Excadrill could knock out Meditite with too powerful an attack. Gaius knew that Kazuma really wanted this Pokemon, and if he knocked out it it wasn't possible for him to catch it. Excadrill was a powerful Pokemon and Meditite only a basic, meaning that even a relatively weak attack would destroy the Pokemon. The saving grace for Kazuma was that Meditite had used Reflect, which cut the damage from physical attacks in half. Since Excadrill only did physical damage, it was a smart move on the Meditite's part. But something else that Kazuma needed to take into account was the Sandstorm, which did damage to Meditite over time.

Once the trainer took those two things into account, he could decide the best course of action. By now, Kazuma had decided on an attack. "Excadrill, use Slash!"

As the Pokemon jumped forward, claws pointing at Meditite, Kazuma reached into his bag and pulled out an empty Pokeball. Soon as his Pokemon raked his claws across the face of Meditite, he chucked the Pokeball straight at Meditite. Before the Meditite could even respond with an attack of its own, the Park Ball had already reached it. The Fighting Pokemon was suck inside and the Park Ball dropped to the ground and began to shake as the Pokemon struggled to break free. After a few shakes the Park Ball dinged and stopped moving, meaning that the Pokemon was caught.

Gaius nodded at Kazuma that the Pokemon was caught as he retrieved the Pokemon, dropping it in his pack. "Nice job," he said to Kazuma. "We can move on or leave when you want to."

Excadrill Slash attacked work I threw my Parkball into the air, and before Meditite could do anything at all the ball opened up and sucked it up. The Parkball hit the ground and started to wiggle, Meditite tried hard to break free but it was no use. The awesome ping told me that I had captured this Pokemon it was all over now I look at my Excadrill and gave it a big smile it was a job well done.

Gaius nodded at me as he retrieved the captured Pokemon. "Nice job," he said to me. "We can move on or leave when you want to."

This was a no brainer I didn't want to stay here anymore my time in this place was over I look at Gaius and said. "I'm done now, I have all the Pokemon I want let us leave this place."

And so In took one last look up at the mountain before my Ranger took me back.
