Kaze simply began running around in circles, not really aiming at anything and at a safe distance from the others. While Tangela felt he happy about this result, he did forget about Chikato. Suddenly, Tangela realized this, but when he turned around to face the Starly, the flying Pokemon had already taken into the air. Chikato flew directly into Tangela, making him fall on his back. Tangela seemed in pain and really tired.

"Great job, Chikato!" Kat yelled encouragingly to his Starly, who quickly flew back towards him, landing by his feet. She had certainly done a good job in the absence of Kaze, who was still stomping around by himself, having a good time being aggressive towards a pile of stones he had stumbled upon. Kat shook his head in disdain, before he raised the Park Ball in his hand up in to the air.

"Time to bring this one to a close! Tangela...you're mine!" Kat said, trying to sound confident in front of the Ranger, who he had become incredibly aware of all of a sudden. Lobbing the Park Ball at the Tangela, Kat hoped that it was enough for him to get his first capture of the day...

Kaze suddenly turned around and watched as the Parkball made its way towards Tangela. The grass Pokemon couldn't do anything except wait for it to hit. As it did, Tangela was pulled inside the ball which fell to the grass and began to shake.

The ball shook once, twice, and even a third time, suddenly, it stopped.

"That's it! You caught it! Not a bad way to start off either. How does it feel?" said Ranger Eli.

He waited for Kat's response and soon after he added, "Well, it's not over yet. We should continue and see what we find."

Kat watched the ball wriggle on the floor. It surely had to be captured, didn't it? After all that the Tangela had been through in this battle, the poisoning and the constant attacks from Chikato and Kaze...surely...

    "Ping!"

Kat gave a huge sigh of relief as the sound of the ball locking in to place rang out. He was - for now, at least - the owner of a Tangela, and that was something he was incredibly proud of. He had succeeded in making it in to the Park and capturing the first Pokémon he had intended to battle; a smile beamed across his face as he walked over to lift the Park Ball up in to his hands. The sense of accomplishment was overwhelming as it rushed through him, with Kat placing the ball in his pocket for safe keeping.

"...how does it feel?" Kat spun round to face Ranger Eli, having not been listening to what he initially said, too busy focusing on his new capture.

"Oh, erm...it's...it's awesome! It was a bit hairy at some points in there, I wasn't sure if my buddies here would pull through, but we did it - and I have a Tangela! Well, for now at least. I mean, I know that I gotta wait until we get out of here to officially make him mine, so...yeah." Kat realised that once again he had gone too hyper in his response, scratching the back of his head in embarassment as he felt his face going red.

"Well, it's not over yet. We should continue and see what we find." The Ranger nodded at Kat, obviously leaving it up to him to decide where to go. Kat looked around at the surrounding area, and spotted some fruit trees in the distance.

"Those trees, where that fruit is...that could be interesting, I bet there'd be some Pokémon down there. Let's head on that way!" Kat said, waiting for the Ranger to agree with his suggestion before heading off in that direction.

Eli nodded and the group began walking towards the trees. Kaze quickly realized he was gonna get left behind and caught up with the group, no longer confused. As they made it to the trees, there were some half eaten fruits on the ground, as if something was eating them but left in a hurry.

"Hmm...I guess the Pokemon saw us coming," said Ranger Eli.

Suddenly, they heard something walking up in a nearby tree. It seemed to be a Togepi. It was holding a small berry and taking even smaller bites from it. It didn't seem to want to eat the fruit in one bite.

Kat looked up in to the tree at the small Pokémon, nibbling a little on the berry in its hands. He knew that a Togepi by itself might not be a huge advantage to his team, but it would evolve in to a Togetic and then maybe even a Togekiss. Still, that would take time and a lot of effort...plus, he wasn't sure if he exactly wanted to order his Pokémon to attack such a small and defenseless Pokémon as a Togepi.

"Erm...I think we should leave this little thing by itself." Kat looked over at the Ranger, the doubt in his mind obvious in his voice. Kat did kind of want the Togepi, but now wasn't the right time to go for it. He looked at the ground though and at the fruit that had been left on the floor. They were still fresh - so whichever Pokémon has left them were still in the area. They were certainly bigger than a Togepi as well.

"Okay, I think we should investigate these trees a bit more, see if there are any wild Pokémon trying to hide."

The Togepi simply kept eating the berry, not even paying attention to the group. They simply kept moving and searching around the trees found there. The Breeze suddenly began picking up again and became a strong wind. It wasn't enough to knock anyone down, but Ranger Eli did hang on tightly to his jacket as he felt it was going to get blown off.

At that moment, a large berry fell from one of the trees into the floor and, to everyone's surprise, a Bayleef popped out from within a few bushes and charged towards the berry, eating it in one bite. It seemed to really like whatever flavor that berry was.

Kat was surprised to see the Bayleef charging out of the bushes at the berry; he was even more surprised to see how easily and quickly it devoured the berry that had dropped to the floor. As the breeze continued to whip up, a couple more of the berries fell to the ground, with the Bayleef happily trotting over to them and starting to munch on them as well.

"It really likes those berries, huh?" Kat said over to Eli, although he seemed more preoccupied with keeping his jacket on at that moment in time. The strength of the wind had certainly come out of nowhere and it was something Kat would have to factor in to any decision he would take in battling the Bayleef. The fact was that Bayleef was a strong Pokémon and this wasn't something that he could easily pass up on. He also had a way of using the wind to his advantage in his first move.

"Kaze - let's use Fire Spin to start this one off!"

Kaze, with the break from battles having allowed him to both free himself from onfusion and regain his breath, let out a large ribbon of flames from his mouth, the wind picking up the flames and extending the "vortex" effect of the attack. Kat was happy to start this battle off on the attack this time - this move would hopefully give him the advantage for the rest of the battle.

Kaze quickly took his position to face the Bayleef. He took a deep breath and let out a Fire Spin. The fire was aided by the wind as it spread towards Bayleef, but in the attack's nature, every time the fire spun backwards and against the win, it lost power. Eventually the Fire Spin broke and dropped as a small rain of fire over Bayleef.

Bayleef felt the fire raining down and ran around in circles as it burned a bit. The grass Pokemon quickly identified the source of the attack and turned to face Kaze. Bayleef lowered its neck and picked up the last berry on the ground, a chesto berry. Bayleef began running towards Kaze as it began eating the berry. At this moment, a strange blue energy surrounded the grass Pokemon. It was charging for an attack.

Kat frowned as he watched the Fire Spin attack essentially disappear before his eyes in to a much weaker attack than he had anticipated. The breeze obviously hadn't helped in the way he had hoped for, and now the Bayleef seemed ready to go on the attack. Attacking with both Pokémon might be a much wiser option this time, which was something that he'd have to do if he wanted to nab the Bayleef. With that in mind, he turned to Chikato, ready to bring her in to the battle.

"Chikato, you've got to use Quick Attack, try and throw that Bayleef off balance so its attack misses!" Chikato responded by picking herself up off the floor, ready to go hurling herself at the Bayleef, but Kat motioned at her to hold back for a second, as he had one other command to order. "Kaze, while she's doing that, you've got to sneak up and hit it with a Faint Attack, okay?"

Kaze nodded his response, his eyes darting around the area to see where would be the best advantageous to hit the Bayleef from. As Chikato set off for the Quick Attack, the wind rippling off her as she soared through the air, Kaze dashed in to the undergrowth, ready to land the surprise attack when the Bayleef wasn't expecting it.

Hearing Kat's commands, Ranger Eli quickly opened a Pokeball, letting out a Gallade. Eli pointed towards the Starly, who had already started her attack, and said, "Esteban, Teleport."

At that moment, the Gallade suddenly vanished and appeared right in front of Chikato. Gallade simply poked Chikato, making both of them disappear and reappear right next to Kat.

Ranger Eli looked at Kat and said, "I'm sorry, this time you are starting with only one opponent, so you can only use one Pokemon at a time."

Meanwhile, Kaze attempted to sneak around, but Bayleef never took his eyes of the target. Not finding a way to shake off Bayleef, Kaze began walking in zigzags as the grass Pokemon neared. At the last moment, Kaze launched himself towards Bayleef, making both attacks collide. Magmar was sent flying back while Bayleef was only pushed back slightly. It was obvious Bayleef's attack had done more damage.

Kat went red in the face as Eli informed him that he could only use one Pokémon in this battle. How could he have broken one of the Park Rules? It was so embarassing...

"Oh man, I'm really sorry, I promise that I won't break any rules ever again, I swear, please please please don't throw me out!" Kat exclaimed in a quick outburst towards Eli, before he quickly ushered Chikato behind him, away from the battle and therefore out of the way from any harm. That didn't exactly help Kaze though, and Kat looked as his Magmar went crashing in to some bushes. Kaze picked himself back up though, looking thoroughly annoyed by what had just happened.

"Kaze, hang on in there!" Kat started to process in his head a logical next move. With the wind being as strong as it was, a move like Flamethrower or even Fire Blast was out of the question - as were Smog or Smokescreen. There was still one move that Kaze could use though to try and cause some damage - aa move that the wind wouldn't be able to stop quite so easily. "Kaze, get in close again and use Fire Punch!"

Kaze nodded over at his trainer, before raising his fist up in to the air. It erupted in to a ball of scorching hot flames, as Kaze started to rush over to attack the Bayleef once more.

Ranger Eli smiled at Kat and said, "Don't worry about it. You'd be surprise how often that happens."

Meanwhile, Kaze grinned as he heard the new command. He quickly ran towards Bayleef with a fiery fist. Bayleef was spooked for a moment and created a flat barrier in front of himself. Kaze landed a punch directly on the center of the barrier, causing a lot of fire to spread towards Bayleef. Bayleef shook his head side to side, showing disgust for the fire. At that moment, he shot several Razor Leaves towards Kaze and all of them hit directly on Kaze's stomach. Kaze's eyes opened widely as he felt the pain. Although he was resistant to grass, this particular attack had been extra painful for some reason.

Kat looked as he saw Kaze recoil from the pain suffered from the Razor Leaf attack. He wondered why they had caused so much damage - could the wind have given them some extra impact? Certainly, Overgrow shouldn't have come in to effect just yet, as the Bayleef didn't look to be hurt too much. No matter why the move had hurt Kaze so much, Kat decided that now wasn't the time to wonder about this. He scrambled in to his bag, running over to Kaze as he did so.

"Kaze, here, lemme use this on you," Kat said as he sprayed a Super Potion on to Kaze, "and when you're ready, you've got to use Lava Plume. It's the only move you have left that isn't going to get caught out by the wind or the Reflect!"

Kat backed away from Kaze as the Potion ran out. He watched as Kaze stood tall, before he launched flames from his mouth at the floor. The smaller eruptions appeared from the ground, spreading across the battlefield towards the Bayleef. Kat just hoped that this would work out well enough to ready the Bayleef for a capture...

As Kat began running towards Kaze, Bayleef noticed Magmar was being distracted. Feeling hurt and outmatched since it was only a matter of time before they figured out how to use the wind in their favor, Bayleef began running away from the battle.

Ranger Eli then shouted, "Kat! Bayleef's getting away! Hurry!"

Kat had finished using the Potion at that moment. When Kaze looked, he quickly shot lava towards the ground, making a wave that spread forward, killing a lot of grass in the process, however, Bayleef was out of the attack's range by now.

Kat watched as the grass in front of him was burned up by the Lava Plume attack, all of which were nowhere near the Bayleef as it ran off in to the distance. It was certainly going at some speed, probably because it had the wind behind it.

"Gah - Kaze, we've got..." Kat trailed off as he spoke, beginning to question the logistics of the situation. While the Bayleef would certainly be a useful addition to his team, there was now a question of whether or not it would be as useful in comparison with Tangela: he'd probably use his latest capture a lot more in battle if the two were in competition with each other. Maybe, therefore, it was best to leave the wild Pokémon and head on to look for others that might be of more value?

"Actually, I'm not going to continue to battle it. I think it's best to let the thing go and recover and we'll head on, please." Kat smiled at the Ranger, before heading deeper in to the wooded area, hoping to find something that would raise his interest and be another viable capture.

The group kept on walking around different flowers and bushes. But, the Pokemon here were great at hiding. They managed to spot one or two, but they would disappear in a matter of seconds.

That is, until they came upon a giant flower covered in leaves. It was obviously not supposed to be that way 'cause all the other leaves were piled. A sudden gust of wind then blew away the leaves revealing a Venusaur. The Venusaur gave a glare at the group, but it wasn't doing anything else.

    Expedition ended due to Inactivity.

You should still post here when you get a chance so that you can claim your Tangela.
