    "Ahh..."

I smiled, closing my eyes and allowing the wind to rush past me. It had been a long time since I'd last been out in the field, but I was back. This feeling was great. I patted my Dragonite's head - I was on her back, and together, we were flying well above the National Park.

Suddenly, my wireless started to beep. I clicked the button on the side to accept the call - I was more than ready for my first assignment coming back from a period of inactivity.

"Hey, John!" Jenny, the receptionist back at the Registration Office, said brightly. "You're probably anxious for it, so here's your new assignment! You'll be going to the Great Lakes with a trainer by the name of Damian Hikotashi. As always, I'm streaming the information to your PokeDex."

I took out my PokeDex and sure enough, Damian's trainer card was being downloaded to my PokeDex. I thought it was interesting he was bringing in a non-evolved Pokemon, but it was a Pikachu so it wasn't all too surprising. Many people liked to keep their Pikachu unevolved.

"Alright, Dragonite, we're going to the Great Lakes!" I called.

My Dragonite nodded, and I gripped her back tightly as she pulled into a steep dive. I whooped loudly, loving the excitement that I had missed so long.

Within minutes, we were at the Ranger Outpost at the Great Lakes. Since the Lakes were right beside the Registration Office, I figured Damian should be here very soon. I sat down on the park bench and waited for him, watching my Dragonite lazily circle overhead.

Walking towards the Great Lakes, I deided to let Sparky, my Pikachu out of her pokeball. "Ok Girl, time for our second run, can you believe that?" I asked her. She smiled at me from the ground. The light bounced off the water and made her fur shine a magnificent Gold.

She Climbed up onto my shoulder, looking at the beutifal lakes. I saw a Trainer in the distance with a Dragonite flying over his head. I made a guess that it was my Ranger.

"Ok Sparky, no making a fool of us right away," I joked to Sparky, remembering our first run. Walking up to the Ranger, I held my hand out.

"Im Damian, I'm guessing your my ranger for today?" I asked him.

I saw a silhouette in the distance. It was walking towards me, and I noticed there seemed to be something attached to its shoulder. I had a feeling that this was my Trainer. If that was so, then the thing on his shoulder would be Pikachu. I certainly doubted it would be Parasect. As the shadow got closer, I could slowly make out enough to recognize him. It was my Trainer, after all. I signaled for Dragonite to land, and she quickly touched down.

"I'm Damian, I'm guessing you're my Ranger for today?" Damian asked, his hand outstretched.

I shook his hand. "My name's John Shay, and this is my Dragonite." Pulling out a small map of the Lakes, I said, "There are three main lakes in the area, arranged vaguely in the shape of a triangle and all connected to each other by a small stream. We'll be heading northeast along the coast to begin with, since you don't have any Pokemon with Surf. We'll probably circle around all three Lakes so you can encounter different Pokemon from each of them." Putting the map back in my pocket, I pointed to my right. "Shall we?"

I led Damian up the coast, watching the lake to see if any Pokemon would approach us. Pokemon wouldn't approach us at the rate that they would if we were in the water, but Pokemon in these Lakes often neared the shore to battle Trainers anyway.

I noticed a faint, aqua blue glow in the water. It was drifting towards the shore, and I knew that this had to be a Pokemon.

"Look at that," I said to Damian, "I'm pretty sure that's going to be your first encounter of the day."

I still didn't know what Pokemon it was, however. I watched anxiously as it neared the coast, and then finally, the Pokemon stopped and poked its head out.

"Lumineon," Lumineon cried, locking its eyes on Damian. I raised an eyebrow. Lumineon weren't particularly useful in battle, but they were rare and if Damian was a collector, he could very well be interested.

"Want to try battling this Pokemon?" I asked Damian.

My Trainer stood up and shook my hand. "My name's John Shay, and this is my Dragonite." John said. His Dragonite gave me a nod to signal friendliness. I had battled some big pokemon before, but never a Dragonite. It scared me, as I only had Sparky and Shroom.

John pulled a map out of his pack and unfolded it, showing the three lakes. "There are three main lakes in the area, arranged vaguely in the shape of a triangle and all connected to each other by a small stream. We'll be heading northeast along the coast to begin with, since you don't have any Pokemon with Surf. We'll probably circle around all three Lakes so you can encounter different Pokemon from each of them." Putting the map back in his pocket, John pointed to his right. "Shall we?"

I nodded, and we set off. As we walked by the shore, John stared at the Lake, looking for pokemon. I watched the shore, looking for the water type starters like Squirtle and Mudkip.

"There" John mutteres in a low voice. I looked out onto the lake an saw a dark blue shape in the water moving towards us. The shape slowly rose out of the water when it got to the shallower water.

The pokemon was a Lumineon. While Lumineon wasn't a very good battler, it couldnt be worse than my team right now. It might even help, as I have a weakness to fire.

"Want to try battling this Pokemon?" John asked me. I looked at Pikachu, who nodded eagerly. I said a simple command.

    "Pikachu, Rain Dance"

    BP-1: Pikachu VS Lumineon

    Ranger John Webster Shay

OOC: @KantoMasta The water is shallow enough that Pikachu can wade into it, but if it goes too far or is baited deeper, then it risks being forced into a panicked flailing state where its feet can't touch the ground. Bear in mind that Pikachu's mobility could be restricted before that, and Lumineon will have a noticeable speed advantage either way. Generally though, what happens is determined by your post quality/decisions, as with most other scenarios. Also, Lumineon's gender?

Instead of responding directly, Damian said simply, "Pikachu, Rain Dance."

So he was one for drama, then.

Sparky shouted and started hopping around. The skies imediately darkened and clouds collected overhead. In moments, a downpour began to fall from the rain clouds.

I lifted an eyebrow, curious to see what Damian's strategy was. Rain Dance was hardly a staple move of Pikachu - they had to learn it by TM. With that said, it was a fully logical move given the Pokemon's type. They weren't a Water-type, but it was the next best thing being an Electric-type whose powerful Thunder attack could turn into an unavoidable attack in the rain.

I figured that I'd be seeing Sparky use that Thunder attack at some point, especially since Lumineon was a Pokemon that could only travel in a body of water. That meant Thunder would be particularly effective, as the water would conduct the electricity and lead to a very effective end result.

"Lumineon!" the Pokemon cried, not fazed. As a Water-type, all of its Water attacks would be stronger under the rain. Pikachu had a much more reliable power move because of the rain, but most of Lumineon's moveset would be stronger as well.

Lumineon opened its mouth. A small orb of water gathered in front of its open jaw - Lumineon was going straight to an attack to begin things. Given the rainy weather, it seemed like a good idea to me.

The orb of water pulsed once, in similar fashion to a human heart. I immediately recognized this move: it was Water Pulse. Lumineon inhaled deeply, then blew the Water Pulse towards Sparky. It rapidly traveled through the air, and I knew this had the potential to put Sparky behind Lumineon early on in the battle. Damian would have to react quickly.

Sparky jumped off my shoulder and began doing some kind of dance. Then clouds began to roll in, turning into a full on downpour. I knew that this would increse Lumineon's attacks, but she was also stuck in the water, while Thunder was now 100% accurate. I didn't want to use it right off the bat, showing Lumineon my best move. Lumineon jumped into the air, it's blue scales were beautifal. I new now that I really wanted this pokemon.

Lumineon landed into the water with a huge splash. Coming above the water quickly, it began charging a water orb in it's mouth. I knew that the attack would hurt badly if it made contact with Sparky. Looking down at my Pokemon, I had an idea. Those TM's were definately helping now. "Ok Sparky, Iron Tail the Water Pulse to stop it, then follow with a thunderwave on the Lumineon!" I commanded.

Sparky jumped up into the air, her tail glowing a gray. The rain poundedagainst her body as she went up. I crossed my fingers, hoping my plan worked.

    OOC: @KantoMasta Lumineon's gender?

"Okay Sparky, Iron Tail the Water Pulse to stop it, then follow with a Thunder Wave on the Lumineon!" Damian commanded.

Sparky wasted no time in leaping to action. Her tail began glowing metallic silver, and she slashed the Water Pulse with her tail. The Water Pulse exploded, and I saw Sparky wince before awkwardly falling back down to the ground.

I had expected as much - physically attacking the Water Pulse to destroy it would probably result in a mini-explosion of the attack. It probably stung Pikachu a little bit, but I didn't expect it to be too bad.

Sparky shook her head, regaining her composure. The red pouches on her cheeks began to emit sparks, and a wave of electricity was thrown at Lumineon.

"Lumineon!" it cried as it was ensnared in the Thunder Wave. The Thunder Wave faded away, but residual sparks continued to roll around Lumineon's body. The Pokemon was paralyzed.

Lumineon blinked a couple times in discomfort, trying to swim around. However, even that seemed to be a little difficult for it as the paralysis settled in. I wondered if the Pokemon was going to be able to attack.

Suddenly, a sickly purple film of energy appeared around Lumineon's body. It maintained its shape around Lumineon for a moment, then suddenly launched in all directions in the form of a purple energy wave. Pikachu was knocked over by the sudden attack.

I recognized this attack as Hidden Power. Many Pokemon could learn it, but very few actually did without Trainer assistance. It seemed that in this case, Lumineon had been forced to use Hidden Power in lieu of a stronger attack due to its reduced mobility. Judging from the sickly purple color of the Hidden Power, it had been Poison-type.

Sparky returned to her feet quickly. She still had plenty of energy, and I suspected Lumineon's Hidden Power might not have been strong as it could've been, since Lumineon fired it off so quickly and seemingly out of desperation. Now, with a paralyzed opponent, I wondered what Damian and Sparky would do next.

Sparky flung her tail forward, now a shining silver. Sparky's tail slahed through the middle of the water pulse. The water exploded in a small burst, and I saw Sparky cringe for a moment. She fell to the ground awkwardly, but still managed to land on her feet. Sparky stumbled, finally regaining her composure.

Recovering quickly, static began charging around Sparky's cheeks. "Yes!" I thought to myself as I saw the thunderwave preparing. Sparky shot the wave towards Lumineon, and the static disapeared. "Oh come o-" I started. Then I saw small sparks stll around Lumineon's body. I smiled, knowing my plan was in action.

Lumineon wasn't fully paralysed yet, but she definately was slow. Out of what had to have been desperation, Lumineon began charging up purple wave. Milliseconds after Lumineon began the attack, she launched it at Sparky, who wasn't prepared. Sparky fell backwards, but quickly jumped to her feet. A huge rain drop hit the ground next to her, splattering mud up onto her fur.

"Now or never," I muttered. "Ok Sparky, now that shes slow, try a thunder!" I commanded. Sparky jumped up into the air, shooting a huge thunder bolt into the clouds. Just seconds after doing this, the same lightning bolt came down quickly, heading right for the top of Lumineon.

With Sparky back on her feet, Damian showed no hesitation in taking advantage of his now paralyzed opponent.

"Okay Sparky, now that she's slow, try a Thunder!" Damian commanded. Sparky nodded, and wild volts leaped off of her pouches. At last, Damian was going to use Thunder. I stepped back. This should be quite the fireworks show.

Sparky shouted loudly, launching a single bolt of electricity into the rain clouds. The clouds overhead stormed for a moment, then a jagged thunderbolt fell down towards Lumineon. Then, to my surprise, Lumineon leaped up into the Thunder.

Poof! In a cloud of smoke, Lumineon disappeared.

"What the hell?" I muttered underneath my breath, trying to figure out what happened. Then, my Dragonite pointed to a darker blue area of the water. That was a shadow... That was Lumineon's shadow!

I quickly deduced what must have happened. Lumineon must have, at the last second, created a Substitute to take the hit. I had recognized the move, although I was surprised that Lumineon was able to create one in that situation. It was an intelligent way to avoid taking a potential death blow, although it must have taken a huge energy kick out of Lumineon, especially since she was paralyzed.

Lumineon weakly floated back up to the surface, poking her head out from the water. Judging from the exhaustion on her face, I was correct in assuming that gutting out a Substitute had required a huge effort out of her. Then, a spark flickered between her eyes, and I realized she was fully paralyzed.

I looked to Damian. Lumineon had been scrappy enough to avoid taking the Thunder (albeit at the cost of a fair chunk of health and a lot of stamina) and was now fully paralyzed, meaning Sparky would not have to worry about an attack right now. This turn probably hadn't gone as Damian might've hoped, but it wasn't all too bad in my opinion and he did have an opening to attack with Lumineon paralyzed. I wondered what he would try to do.

The bolt came down with amazing speed. That was when something I never expected to happen, happened. Lumineon jumped straight up into the air, towards the bolt. The bolt collided with the fish, sending sparks everywhere. Lumineon then turned to ash and was swept away in the wind.Panic swept through my mind. I just about broke down in tears, but didn't want to do it in front of John. If I had an emotional fit, they might throw me out of the Park. I definately didn't wantthat, as I set a fire in my last run. "Did I really just kill it?" I thought to myself.

I looked at the ref, scared he would escort me out. He looked concerned, apparently thinking the same thing. I gulped, scared. If i got kicked out of the run, I might be banned from the Park. His Dragonite then pointed towards the water, at a dark shape. A move immediately popped into my head, one that killed me last time I did an FFA. I hated that move, until I could get my hands on it at least. Substitute.

That dirty lying fish! It sent a fake pokemon to take the attack! Oh well. I saw the dark shape in the water slowly getting bigger as the fish rose to the surface. She popped up, bobbing like a dead fish. The Goldeen than had sparks flash on her face. Fully Paralyzed! My plan wouldn't fail this time.

"Sparky, send a barely charged spark at her just to see if there's a sub, then attack with another thunder!" I yelled. Sparky charged electricity really quickly and shot it at the Lumieon. Then Sparky looked up at the sky. With a battle cry that could wake a Snorlax, she shot a gigantic electric beam into the clouds. The beam quickly dissapeared into the sky, and shot back down, even bigger.

Damian scowled, which was a fair reaction given that he had just been robbed of a hit that might've put Lumineon in capture range. However, he quickly rebounded. "Sparky, send a barely charged spark at her just to see if there's a Sub, then attack with another Thunder!"

Sparky nodded. She quickly fired a weak spark towards Lumineon. Then, she began charging a much more powerful Electric-type attack: Thunder. As the electric spark neared Lumineon, Sparky sent a large bolt of electricity into the sky.

This was a very intelligent move by Damian and Sparky. The weak spark wouldn't do a lot of damage to Lumineon, but it would help Damian find out if Lumineon was going to try the same trick again. Also, it would distract Lumineon, giving the actual Thunder attack a larger window to strike.

The spark struck Lumineon head-on - it seemed she was still paralyzed from earlier. However, she quickly shook herself back to normal. Just as I had suspected, the spark hadn't done too much damage to Lumineon. It had served its purpose, however. Lumineon wasn't using Substitute this time.

Lumineon cast her eyes upward, watching the last sparks of Sparky's Thunder fly into the storm clouds. She immediately inhaled - it seemed that once again, she wasn't going to allow Sparky to land the endgame blow easily. She smacked her lips in Sparky's direction, and a pink heart flew towards Sparky. I recognized this as Sweet Kiss, an attack that would confuse the target.

With Sparky a little drained from using two Thunders in a row, she wasn't able to avoid the Sweet Kiss. The pink heart smacked into her head, and she immediately began stuttering around. The Pikachu was confused.

The rain clouds above sparked for a moment, then dropped a jagged thunderbolt for the second consecutive time. However, with Sparky confused, I doubted things would go perfectly.

I was right. The Thunder attack fell short from Lumineon - way short. It landed right on the coast. Quite a few sparks connected with the water, and I saw Lumineon wince as the charge raced across the water. However, most of the attack was grounded into the sand. I noticed that Sparky, who had been very close to the coast, had fallen over as well. It looked like the Thunder attack had backfired a little bit for her.

I looked at Lumineon, quite impressed. She had a lot of guts, something that I admired. Finding a way to avoid two consecutive Thunders - while paralyzed, no less - was no easy feat. However, I figured that Lumineon may have had a little too much energy left to try such a powerful attack straight from the get-go.

I looked at Damian. With Sparky confused and drained from two Thunders, this wasn't a great situation for him to be in. However, he did have a noticeable health advantage over Lumineon. I wondered what he would do in this situation.

"Lumineon!" she called. This was her opportunity to attack, and she knew it.

The light blue stripes on her body began to glow. She opened her mouth, and a neon glow appeared in her mouth. It grew larger and larger, and I couldn't help but find my head hurting from the mess of colors in the ball of energy. This must've Signal Beam. I looked at Sparky. Already confused, this attack would do very little to help. I grew a little worried, and I hoped that Sparky had what it took to work her way out of this scenario.

The spark hit Lumineon head on. It did it's purpose, as I now knew that Lumineon didn't have a sub up. "Good,"I thought to myself.Just as the last bit of electricity was released from Sparky, Lumineon took her chance. Lumineon kissed towards Sparky, and multiple hearts shot towards Sparky. The move was Sweet Kiss, one I knew would confuse Sparky.

I was about to issue Sparky to dodge, when I realized she was too weak from the double thunders. Then I realized something else, the bolt was still in the sky. Looking up expectedly, I think Lumineon and I thought about it at the same time. With Sparky confued, the attack failed miserably. Coming down as hard as the other two, it looked like it was coming straight for Lumineon. Then, in mid-air it curved and came down faster. It hot the earth with only about a quarter of it actually on the water.

Sparks shot across the Lake, hitting Lumineon. Sparks also travelled across the land, hitting Sparky and doing a tiny bit of damage. I knew Sparky was tired now and I didn't have an option. I saw the Lumineon charging up an attack. Her light blue stripes began glowing magnificently, then a ball of energy began forming in her mouth. An Aura. Watching the colors made my head hurt really badly, so I looked at Sparky.

I had a plan, but it would have to be fast. I grabbed a pokeball off my belt, and aimed it at Sparky. "You did good girl, return," I said. The sphere shot a red laser from the center button towards Sparky. Sparky glowed red, slowly shrinking back into a beam. Then the beam was sucked back into the ball.

Instantly i pulled off another pokeball. "Ok Shroom, let's finish this with a Giga Drain!" I commanded. I threw the Red and White sphere into the air, and it spun over itself as it gained altitude. The sphere opened, and a red light shot out of it. The light turned into a beam that hit the ground. The beam piled up on the ground, and began molding into shape. The result was a Parasect.

Shroom held his claws up high. They glowed green, and green energy began flowing towards them. The energy flowing towards them came from farther and farther away, until it finally got near Lumineon. Lumineon was still charging her attack, which meant the two attacks might collide with eachother. I watched Parasect, wanting to see his reaction to the attacks.

Damian bit his lip, and took out a Pokeball.

"You did good, girl, return," he said encouragingly as he returned the confused Sparky to her Pokeball. Next, he tossed a different Pokeball, and his Parasect, Shroom, appeared.

    "Parasss!" he hissed confidently.

I nodded approvingly. This was an intelligent move, given the situation. Sparky was confused, and any Electric-type attacks used could've missed into the lake, causing damage to the ecosystem. Also, she might've attacked herself. Given that the rain was about to end as well, pulling in Shroom was hardly a downgrade from Sparky.

"Okay Shroom, let's finish this with a Giga Drain!" Damian commanded.

I raised an eye skeptically. First of all, I doubted this would really finish things, though that was nitpicking more than anything else. Secondly, and this was of greater consequence, Damian was having Shroom counter a Bug-type move in Signal Beam with Giga Drain, a Grass-type move. Still, I kept my mouth shut and watched to see what happened. Besides, this strategy may actually have some merit due to Giga Drain's draining effect.

Shroom held up his claws. Green bubbles of energy appeared on Lumineon's body, and began floating towards Shroom. This was Giga Drain, which sucked life energy directly out of its target. Lumineon, who, as a Water-type, was weak to Grass-type attacks, winced in pain. However, the Signal Beam was charged. Lumineon launched the multi-colored beam at Shroom, yelling loudly.

The Signal Beam was caught in the same drift as the energy bubbles from Giga Drain. I supposed that since the attack was also comprised of energy, it was prone to the same magnetism that drew the energy bubbles from Lumineon to Shroom. However, this could backfire, because unlike those energy bubbles, Signal Beam was a hostile attack - one that was super-effective on Shroom.

The energy bubbles were absorbed into Shroom, but the Parasect could only watch as Signal Beam joined in with those bubbles, slamming right into the Pokemon and knocking it backwards. The last of the bubbles were absorbed, and then the attack ended.

I did a quick study of Shroom to assess the damage. From the looks of things, it wasn't too bad. Fortunately, since Lumineon was weak to Giga Drain, the large amount of health Shroom had absorbed had helped to offset quite a bit of the damage he had taken from Signal Beam. Shroom was still out quite a couple of Health Points, but it clearly wasn't as bad it could've been.

Lumineon, meanwhile, seemed to have taken a decent amount of damage from Giga Drain. She had happened upon some on fortune of her own, as Giga Drain hadn't lasted as long as it normally would have since it was abruptly ended when Signal Beam connected with Shroom. However, I could tell that the damage Lumineon had taken in this battle was really starting to settle in.

A spark flickered across Lumineon's cheek, and I realized she was paralyzed once again. It allowed Damian and Parasect to catch a quick breather after a rather hectic (and unexpected) turn of events, and I waited patiently for the next moves in the battle. I also noticed that at some point during the frenzy, the rain had ended. That could only help Damian, as it would take away the boost in damage Lumineon's Water-type attacks got in the rain.

The green energy began floating away from Lumineon and back into Shroom. I smiled, knowing this would help offset any attack Lumineon might throw at me. Then a thought flicked across my mind very quickly. Grass is weak to bug. "Oh sh-" I started, but was cut off by Lumineon. With another battle cry, Lumineon shot the beam at Shroom. The bright colors hit Parasect directly on the shell. I saw my Crab-like pokemon roll, but landed on his feet rather quickly.

I smiled, knowing that my pokemon could take a hit. I quickly went through Shroom's moves in my head, trying to think of the best one for the situation. Giga Drain and X scissor were the only two I could think of that would be able to do anything right now.

Ok Shroom, use-" I was cut off again, but this time it as for something better. I saw a small spark of electricity shoot across Lumineon's ace. Lumineon was fully parlysed again! That meant we would have a free move to do pretty much whatever we wanted!

I again thought through Shroom's moveset, more carefully now that I knew I had the free turn. I could either do some damage to Lumineon, or I could raise some stats. A plan formed in my head, slowly at first, but then I got a feel of what I was going to try to do.

Right before issuing my attack, something blinded my eye. Looking up squinting, I realized the sun was back out, weakening Lumineon. I knew I had the upper hand from here on out. I suddenly realized the sun would help my plan drastically.

Smiling as I realized I had a really good chance now, I issued my first attack. I looked down at Shroom.

"Ok buddy, we're gonna beef you up some. Use Growth," I commanded. Parasect looke dup at me with what I thought might be a smile.

Parasect began glowing, and growing, then shrinking back to normal size. Parasect was working up it's two attack stats, which would definately help me with attacking Lumineon. I just sat there and watched Parasect grow.

Realizing Lumineon was paralyzed, Damian smiled.

"Okay buddy, we're gonna beef you up some. Use Growth," he commanded. So, he was planning to bolster Shroom's stats now. It was a smart idea, as he did have the time to do so and it would help him in the long term.

Shroom lifted his claws. He began glowing light green, and began growing in size. Then, the light aura faded and was absorbed by Shroom, who shrunk back to normal size.

    "Parasect!" he hissed.

Lumineon sniffed. Realizing Shroom was getting stronger, she made a move of her own. Her body began glowing light blue again, and the energy flew off of her body and enveloped her in a faint ring. I recognized this move as Aqua Ring. It was a move that regenerated the user's health gradually over time. Odds were, Lumineon was planning to use Aqua Ring to offset some of the extra damage Shroom may be able to deal as a result of the Growth boosts.

"Lumineon," she hummed as Aqua Ring's healing effects began to settle in. Locking eyes with Shroom with renewed energy, she opened her mouth and fired a stream of rainbow rings at the Parasect.

As Shroom grew back to his normal size, i knew i had done some good. Boosting Shroom's stats would definately help me in the long run. this Lumineon was tough, but it could only last fro so long. I knew that if i was careful I could come away with a win and a new pokemon.

Lumineon wasn't going to let me win without a fight. Although she knew I has a huge advantage, she wasnt going to give up. She looked me in the eye, wanting to see if she could predict me. Sniffing the air, she began an attack of her own. Her scales began to sparkle, the sunlight reflecting off of her. A thin, transparent ring of water began to form around Lumineon. She gave a slight smirk, knowing this would help counteract some of the damage Shroom would do to her with his boosted stats.

"Lumineon"," Lumineon slowly hummed, then opened her mouth. i saw a colorful ball inside. A psybeam. I also knew this would do some damage to Shroom.

"shroom, hold your ground," I muttered. Shroom gave me a quick nod and dug his claws into the ground. The beam hit him right on the shell, but Shroom barely budged. I quickly ran through Shroom's moveset, wondering what attack I should use next.

"Giga Drain Shroom!" i commanded, hoping to restore a little health. Shroom lifted his claws, and sent some greem pollen towards Lumineon.

"Shroom, hold your ground!" Damian called.

Shroom nodded, and allowed the Psybeam to hit him. It was a somewhat curious decision, but I made no remark nonetheless. Lumineon's Psybeam smacked into Shroom's shell, but the Pokemon had dug in with his claws. Still, Lumineon had been able to deal a solid amount of damage.

Now, it was time for Shroom to attack. "Giga Drain, Shroom!" Damian commanded.

Shroom held up his claws, and began sucking in energy from Lumineon. We had already seen this attack earlier in the battle, so I figured Lumineon must've been a little better prepared for it this time. However, that was before Shroom had used Growth, so that must also have made a difference.

The attack ended quickly, and Parasect looked rejuvenated. A lot of the damage from Psybeam had disappeared, and now Lumineon was the one looking worse for wear. However, now it was her turn to recover some health. The light blue aura around her pulsed, and some of the Aqua Ring energy was absorbed.

Lumineon lifted her head. There was no way Aqua Ring could possibly have recovered even half of what Giga Drain had done to her, but she was certainly feeling refreshed again. The Pokemon wasted no time in making her move.

Lumineon began inhaling air, and I watched curiously to see what she would do. Then, she blew a condensed ball of air towards Shroom. I recognized this as Gust, but I certainly wasn't aware that Lumineon was capable of learning it. This was a super-effective attack on Shroom, but it wasn't particularly powerful to begin with. Still, Shroom was better served to avoid it.

The green spores hit Lumineon, making her glow a greenish color. the attack was quick and easy, as Shroom quickly regained health The spores slowly returned to Shroom, giving him some extra health. With my pokemon looking regenerated and healthy again, I began to think about what my next move would be. I looked down at my Crab-like pokemon. I knew that i needed to wrap this battle up quickly if we were to make it through the rest of the park. i quickly ran through Shroom's moveset, wondering what attack to use. I wanted to finish Lumineon quickly, but at the same time I wanted to try to restore Shroom's health.

I looked at the Lumineon and decided I would make my move based on her move. Lumineon's ring glowed again, a light shadde of blue. She seemed to regain some strength, but I knew it couldn't have restored even half of what Giga Drain had done. She looked at me, lost in thought. She quickly made up her mind, and began to attack.

Lumineon started to suck in air, a move I hadn't seen yet. Shooting a ball of air towards Shroom, i suddenly realized the move. Gust, a flying type move. I knew that this move was going to take a toll on Shroom if i didn't do something. I watched the ball of air, trying to think of an attack. I suddenly had an idea. It was crazy, but if it , then get up close in the water with X-Scissor!” I yelled, the heat of battle getting to me. Shroom stepped aside and the ball of air passed him. Shroom then charged forward with amazing speed towards Lumineon. Going into the water, Shroom slowed down a bit. When Shroom was about five feet from Lumineon, he jumped, claws glowing..

    BP-8: Parasect VS Lumineon

    Ranger John Webster Shay

OOC: @KantoMasta You're not allowed to say that your Pokemon successfully dodged an attack (or landed a blow), as you did when you said Parasect sidestepped the Gust. You're allowed to describe your strategy and mental picture of what you have in mind, but you don't determine what actually happens - that's my job. I'll let it fly this time, but keep it in mind forthe future.

Damian's eyes grew wide as he realized what Lumineon was trying to do. He said something to Parasect, but I only caught the end of what he said.

"...then get up close in the water with X-Scissor!" Damian commanded. I wasn't sure what his plan was, but it sounded interesting enough.

Shroom jumped to the side, avoiding Lumineon's Gust. His claws started glowing, and he rushed into the water towards Lumineon. This was interesting, to say the least. Lumineon was close enough to the shore that a physical attack was possible, although who knew how the Parasect would fare in Lumineon's home turf?

Shroom leaped with his claws crossed and ready to strike Lumineon. Lumineon swerved sharply to the left, however, and Shroom fell into the water. Shroom did stretch out a claw, manging to slash Lumineon's flank. However, it didn't look like the attack did as much as Damian might have liked.

Lumineon shook off the hit, and stared at Shroom. There was a hard edge in her eyes. Now that Shroom was in the water, Lumineon could go all out.

"Lumineon!" she cried, splashing out of the water. Her tail started glowing blue, and she spun forward, spiraling back down towards Shroom. With Shroom literally right before her, Lumineon was showing no hesitance in taking advantage by using a Physical attack for a change. Aqua Tail, as a Water-type move, wasn't the most effective option, but it would still a fair share of damage.

Lumineon slammed her tail on to Shroom's back. It was an area where Shroom could take more hit than, say, his underbelly. Now, however, Damian would need to do something quick. Shroom was at a huge disadvantage right now, and something had to be done. I wondered what he would try.

OOC: @Nitro sorry didnt know that

As Shroom came down with his claws huge, Lumineon quickly rolled to the left. Shroom stretched a calw out though and managed to land a small hit on Lumineon. It didnt do near enough damage though. Lumineon smiled and started swimming around. We were on her home turf now, which could be a problem for me.

I debated between returning Shroom and sending Sparky back out, or using some up close moves with Shroom. I knew I would need both of them for later, so any damage we took would have to be spread evenly. I decided to keep Shroom out and use the closeness to my advantage.

"Lumineon!" Lumineon yelled. Lumineon did a flip in the air and her tail began to glow blue. She showed no sign of weakness after I had hit her for so much health. A move suddenly crossed my mind, and I decided it was worth the chance.

"Shroom, use cross poison!" I commanded. I hoped that with how close they were, the attack might offset each other. Shroom's claws grew huge and began to glow a kind of purple, then he slashed towards Lumineon as she came near.
