    BP-9: Parasect VS Lumineon

    Ranger John Webster Shay

    OOC: @KantoMasta

Though Shroom took a solid hit from Aqua Tail, neither Damian or Shroom seemed troubled - the finish line was now in sight.

"Shroom, use Cross Poison!" Damian commanded, eager to end this battle for good.

Shroom nodded, and his claws began glowing a sickly purple. He crossed his claws and attacked Lumineon, slashing the Water-type in her flank. It helped that she was close after landing the Aqua Tail, and I think the attack might've been a critical hit.

Lumineon began glowing blue again as Aqua Ring healed away some of the damage, but it was still evident that she was getting close to being ready for capture.

"Lumineon!" she trilled, probably realizing something similar. She swam around the water, clearly agitated by the fact.

With renewed determination on her face, Lumineon blew a beam of bright blue energy at Parasect. This was the deadly Ice Beam attack, and it could be a very devastating move to Shroom, especially given his weakness to Ice-type moves. It would serve Damian well to find a way to avoid or deflect this attack.

OOC: Just asking for future referance, is the weather normal or sunny?

Shroom's claws impacted with Lumineon's flank, in the middle of an Aqua Tail. Lumineon fell, and the attack looked like a critical hit. I saw Shroom give a quick smile, giving me a small glance. I knew Lumineon was ours now. I immediately thought of another strategy. I would probably need one last attack to fully finish it off. I wanted to do a move that I knew would do the most damage, without making Lumineon faint.

X-Scissor did a fair amount, but Shroom was also getting lower in health. I would need him for later, so I decided to heal him and do damage to Lumineon at the same time. "Shroom, one last Giga Drain should do it!" I shouted to my pokemon, but Lumineon was faster.

Swimming in a quick circle, Lumineon brught her head up and began charging an ice orb in her mouth. Ice Beam. I knew this move would do some major damage to Shroom with the typing. I tried to quickly calcuae some stats in my head. "If the attack hit, but I used Giga Drain with Shroom's boosted stats.." I sarted to think, but decided against it. I was just going to use Giga Drain and hope for the best.

"Shroom, still use Giga Drain!" I yelled as the Ice beam shot and got closer and closer to Shroom.

OOC: @KantoMasta At the moment's it's normal, though of course that can always be changed by you or wild Pokemon.

As Lumineon prepared Ice Beam, Damian didn't waver. "Shroom, one last Giga Drain should do it!"

Lumineon fired the attack, and Shroom stood his ground (or water). So Damian was going to let Shroom take the hit. Since he was using a self-recovery move like Giga Drain, some of the damage taken would be recovered, but I don't know if trying to absorb a super-effective attack was necessarily the most intelligent thing to do.

Shroom took the hit, wincing as the Ice Beam slammed into his shell. The attack pushed him back in the water a little, and Shroom flipped over.

Lumineon ended the attack, and swam around happily. She must've felt this could've been a turning point in the battle. However, Shroom floated back to the surface. She was glowing green, and was preparing to leech energy from Lumineon with Giga Drain yet again.

Green bubbles of energy formed on Lumineon's, and were sucked away to Shroom's body. A satisfied look appeared on Shroom's eyes as his target's energy became his own. Now, Lumineon was the exhausted one. The Aqua Ring was healing her as always, but I could tell she was definitely getting tired.

Sparks fizzled again around Lumineon - she was fully paralyzed again. This was a great opportunity for Damian to finally try for the capture, unless he wanted to continue attacking.

The Ice Beam hit Shroom right on the shell. He flipped in the water, and sunk. I cussed under my breath, mad for letting Shroom take a hit like that straight on. Looking over, I saw Lumineon grinning fin to fin that she managed to sink my bug. I considered running inand saving Shroom, but I knew it was too risky.

Suddenly, Shroom floated back up to the surface and shot green spored towards Lumineon. I smiled, proud of my pokemon. Lumineon looked tired and weak, and a knew this would be my chance.

Suddenly, sparks shot across Lumineon's face. She was paralysed! I got anxious, knowing that this could very well be my pokemon. I grabbed a Super Ball out of my pack, and took careful aim. I glanced at Shroom, who was staring down Lumineon. I had a flashback of my first ever capture in the Park.

Spinning my cap backwards, I called Sparky back to me. Grabbing a parkball out of its compartment in my bag, I tossed it into the air. The ball came down, and landed perfectly in my hand. I threw it, and the sphere slammed against an orange bug, a Paras.

Shroom! That's what made me feel like I needed to bring him. He was my first ever capture! Throwing the Super ball, I issued a command.

"Get out of the water Shroom! I dont want you in their no matter what!A new pokemon could get you, or Lumi could break free!" I shouted, the anxiety killing me. I suddenly realized a mistake I made. I called a wild pokemn by a nickname. Oh well, if I caught her, that would be her name.

The sphere flew towards Lumineon, hitting her on the head. It bounced off and shto a red beam out. The red beam surronded Lumineon, then sucked her in. The ball fell, but floated in the water. It started shaking, and I watched closely.

Damian's eyes grew wide as he recognized his opportunity. Plucking off a Super Ball from his ball, he shouted, "Get out of the water, Shroom! I don't want you in there no matter what! A new Pokemon could get you, or Lumi could break free!"

I agreed with his sentiments, although I didn't say it aloud. Keeping Shroom in the water, especially in the Great Lakes of all places, could turn ugly really fast. Then, I realized he had called Lumineon 'Lumi'. A nickname, perhaps?

Damian tossed the Super Ball. Lumineon was snagged by the capsule, and the ball floated on the water's surface. It shook wildly as Lumineon fought to resist capture, but ultimately, the ball dinged. Damian had his first successful capture in the Park - on his first try, no less!

I smiled at him. My Dragonite flew over to the Super Ball, and picked it up gently. She flew over and dropped it in my hands, and I pocketed the ball.

"Great job, Damian!" I congratulated him. "I'll hold on to this Pokemon until you leave the Park. For now, you can give your Pokemon a quick rest. Tell me whenever you're ready to continue."

The ball continued to shake like crazy. Finally, I heard the most wonderful sound ever. A ding from the pokeball. I pumped my fist into the air, as Shroom finally got back to us. "We did it Shroom!" I shouted excitedly, hugging Shroom.

John's Dragonite flew over the water and picked up the Superball and dropped it to John. "I'll hold on to this Pokemon until you leave the Park. For now, you can give your Pokemon a quick rest. Tell me whenever you're ready to continue." he said.

Looking down at Shroom, I smiled, proud of my pokemon. "Shroom, you can take a rest now," I said, returning Shroom to his pokeball. I then released my other pokemon, Sparky the Pikachu. Sparky climbed up nto my shoulder, and I looked back at John. "I think we're ready," I said, smiling.

"We did it, Shroom!" Damian cried, giving his Parasect a hug. He was clearly ecstatic that he had gotten the Lumineon. I smiled at the endearing sight.

"Shroom, you can take a rest now," Damian said, returning his Pokemon to his Pokeball proudly. He took out the other Pokeball on his belt and called out his other Pokemon instead.

Sparky, Damian's Pikachu, leaped out of her Pokeball. She climbed on to Damian's shoulder, and then he turned to me. "I think we're ready."

I nodded. "Let's keep following the shoreline."

I led Damian and his Pokemon along the shoreline. We could see Pokemon farther out in the lake splashing around, but they were just dots on the horizon. Without any means of going into the water, encounters could come at a slower pace.

"Dragonite," my Pokemon muttered. I stopped.

"What is it?" I asked. My Dragonite motioned her head towards the water, and I saw it. It was a dark silhouette in the water, and it was rapidly approaching. This was Damian's next encounter!

The Pokemon exploded out of the water, splashing the four of us. It landed on its feet a few feet away, and eyed us carefully. It was dark blue, and resembled a majestic penguin. There was a distinguishing golden crown on its forehead. This was Empoleon!

I turned to Damian. "Want to try and capture this Empoleon?" I asked.

"Let's keep following the shoreline," John said to me. I nodded in agreement. We walked on for awhile, and I watched the water. I could see little dots out in the lake, but until they came closer to us, they weren't encounters.

"Dragonite," John's Dragonite muttered, and nodded towards a black dot coming towards us. It was huge! The pokmeon flew out of the water and landed on all fours in fron of us. Water splashed my face, so my vision was blurry. Wiping away the water, I realized the pokemon. A huge blue penguin stood before me. Empoleon.

"Want to try to catch this Empoleon?" John asked me, turning around. While I knew that Empoleon would be good just about everywhere, battling, trade, etc, I decided that my pokmeon probably wouldn't be able to take on him just yet.

"Nah, my pokemon aren't really up for it," I said quietly. On my shoulder, Sparky was nodding too.

"Nah, my Pokemon aren't really up for it," Damian responded. On his shoulder, Sparky nodded an affirmation.

I was hardly surprised. I wouldn't have gone for Empoleon either, even if I didn't already have one. While they were certainly useful in battle, Piplup were available in the Mart, thus rendering the value in Piplup and the rest of its evolution family to be virtually nonexistant.

"Let's try to escape, then," I said, "Follow me, we'll try to skirt around it."

I carefully and slowly shuffled to the left, away from the water. Empoleon watched us carefully, and I wondered if it would let us just walk away after such a showy entrance.

Nope. Empoleon growled, and fired a spray of water at us. It missed us, going wide by a pretty large margin. That had merely been a warning shot, but Empoleon had gotten its point across. We were not to escape without a battle.

I turned to Damian. "Looks like you'll have to fight it... Either that, or you can buy a PokeDoll from me right now for $500 to distract Empoleon while we run. Your choice."

"Let's try to escape, then," John said, "Follow me, we'll try to skirt around it." We walked around to the left slowly, but Empoleon wanst letting us get away easily. It growled and shot a water gun at us. It missed by quite a bit, luckily.

John looked at me. "Looks like you'll have to fight it... Either that, or you can buy a PokeDoll from me right now for $500 to distract Empoleon while we run. Your choice." I groaned, mad that I had to buy a pokedoll. I pulled the money out of my wallet and handed it to John.

Damian groaned, and reluctantly handed me a wad of cash. I pocketed it, and took out a small toy instead. It was a doll, designed to resemble a Clefairy.

Immediately, Empoleon's eyes narrowed. For some reason, all Pokemon were attracted by the lure of PokeDolls. They would lose all interest in everything around them for a while, making these dolls a valuable asset in the Park (for a cheap price, of course).

"Let's keep going," I said to Damian. "Empoleon won't trouble us right now."

I led Damian past the distracted Empoleon, and we continued our walk along the shoreline. The first few Pokemon we've encountered so far have been pretty interesting Pokemon. Lumineon was a rare Water-type with plenty of value, while Empoleon was a Pokemon that could be a very talented asset in battle.

Our next encounter was even more interesting than the past two. I spotted something blue and round sticking out of the water a bit away from the shore, and I stopped. It quickly bobbed back under the water.

Oddly, it reappeared a moment later about fifteen feet away from where it had been earlier. Then, it disappeared again. I was confused. There was no way anything had that kind of speed to travel fifteen feet in a moment - what was going on?

My Dragonite grunted loudly to attract the Pokemon's attention. This time, two blue balls appeared in the water. Now, it made sense - there were two Pokemon! They began swimming towards the shore, and I noticed distinctive spikes sticking out of their bodies. Small faces became visible as they got closer, and I recognized the two Pokemon. They were Qwilfish!

I turned to Damian. "Interested in trying your hand at a Qwilfish? If you do, by the way, you'll have to take them on in a double battle and KO one before you try capturing the other."

John threw the pokedoll at Empoleon. Empoleon's eyes widened and I saw her chase the pokedoll. I smiled, seeing such a tough looking pokemon act like such a child for the doll.

"Let's keep going," John told me. "Empoleon won't bother us now."

We walked along the shoreline, and I hoped my next encounter would be just as interesting as my first two. I hoped I could even possibly see a legendary. We walked along, and I saw John searhing the water for a pokemon. I hoped I would see another starter, but in basic form. I suddenly saw John's expression change. Following his stare, I saw two dots out on the water. I thought the pokemon migh be a chinchou, and I was seeing it's two eyes.

Whatever it was bobbed above the surface of the water, but dove again. Suddenly, it reappeared what I guessed to be fifteen feet away from where it was. I suddenly second guessed myself, what pokemon had that speed? It bobbed again, then reappeared a good 10 feet away in a moment. Looking at John, I was about to ask what pokemon he thought it was when his Dragonite growled.

That must have got the pokemon's attention. I saw spikes appear above the water, and I suddenly had an idea of the pokemon. As the pokemon got closer, I could see two faces, and I suddenly knew the pokemon. It was Qwilfish!

The two Qwilfish came close to the shore so they could battle me. I looked at Sparky, who was staring at the pokemon. "Girl, the one on the left is A, the other is B, got it?" I asked. She nodded and sparks flew out of her cheeks. Jumping off my shoulder, I released Shroom at the same moment. "Ok you two, this is our first double!" I yelled.

My pokemon stood next to eachother, ready to battle. The two Quilfish stared my pokmon down, and I knew it was go time. "Sparky, use rain dance! Shroom, use Stun Spore, on both if you can!" I commanded. My pokemon went to work in unison. I smiled, seeing how well they were trained.

Sparky began doing some kind of a dance, trying to draw rain in. I laughed, as I had no clue Sparky could dance.

My other pokemon, Shroom, lifted his claws. Summoning all his energy, he shot yellow spores from his claws. They floated towards the two pokemon, and I watched eagerly, anxious to see what would happen.

BP-1: Pikachu and Parasect VS Qwilfish and Qwilfish

    Ranger John Webster Shay

OOC: @KantoMasta The male one is Qwilfish A, and the female one is Qwilfish B. (You said you wanted one male and one female, right?)

Damian nodded quickly, then tossed the Pokeball with his Parasect, Shroom, in it. Sparky jumped off his shoulder at the same time, and the two Pokemon faced the two Qwilfish. This was sure to be an exciting duel.

"You'll have to take out one of them before capturing the other," I reminded him, and then stepped back to watch the action unfold.

"Girl, the one on the left is A, the other is B, got it?" Damian called. His Pokemon nodded. He was going to letter them A and B to make things simpler for his Pokemon, then. It was an intelligent decision, and I approved. Damian exhaled, and said, "Okay you two, this is our first double!"

Damian's words of encouragement resonated in his Pokemon's body language. Both Pokemon showed confidence and resolve, despite their apparent lack of experience in this kind of battling. "Sparky, use Rain Dance! Shroom, use Stun Spore, on both if you can!"

Damian's Pokemon nodded. Sparky shouted loudly, and rain clouds gathered overhead. He had used this move earlier with Sparky, and was setting up Rain again. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw the powerful Thunder move a few more times.

Parasect, meanwhile, began shaking herself; or more accurately, the mushroom on her back. Yellow spores drifted off and clouded the area. Some floated on to the water, quickly drifting out towards the Qwilfish. They realized what was going on, and dove underwater to avoid the spores, which only rested of the water's surface. Unfortunately for them, they were both snared by the spores and paralyzed.

Some spores floated towards Sparky. Stun Spore was an attack that could affect a user's teammates in a double battle, and I wondered if Damian was aware of that. This was, after all, his first double battle. However, it ended up not being a problem, as Sparky noticed the spores and backed off. As a Pokemon who had presumably been comrades with Shroom for a while, it was logical that he knew her tendencies in battle and how to work alongside them, even if they had never been in a double battle before.

I looked at the Qwilfish. Both were paralyzed, so this battle should therefore be much easier for them. However, as I watched them, I noticed something was off. Normally, paralyzed Pokemon had shaky, stiff movements. The Qwilfish looked normal to me. Then, I understood what was going on.

"Those Qwilfish have the Swift Swim ability, Damian," I told him. Swift Swim was one of two possible abilities for Qwilfish, and it seemed both of these Qwilfish had that trait. Since Sparky had called in the rain, it had activated that ability. Swift Swim doubled the user's Speed in Rain, which basically offset the effects of the Paralysis. However, they were still prone to being fully paralyzed.

The Qwilfish decided to make their move. Qwilfish A sprayed a burst of water at Sparky. Judging from the volume and velocity of the water, that attack was probably the weak Water Gun move. However, in Rain, that move certainly shouldn't be simply dismissed.

Meanwhile, Qwilfish B took a deep and audible breath. She didn't exhale, and instead started glowing with energy. This attack was the popular defensive move, Stockpile. It looked like this Qwilfish was more defensive-oriented than the other one, and was bulking up for the battle it was facing by adding a Defense boost and a Special Defense boost.

OOC: yeppers. And for future note, Shroom is Male, not Female :p

Sparky continued to dance, and dark, gloomy couds began to roll in. I knew that Thunder would be my main choice of move here. The couds began to drizzle, slowly at first, then sped up, until a downpour startd.

Shroom on the other hand, was still releasing pollen. The pollen drifted over the land, falling on the water. Both the Qwilfish dove under the water to try to shelter from the spores, butthe spores grew heavy and sunk own, hitting the Qwilfish. Both Qwilfish came back to the top and began acting normally though. Spores also floate dtowards Sparky, but she noticed them and stepped out of the way. I smiled, happy to know my pokemon were this well trained. I also wondered why Qwilfish could also move just as fast.

"Those Qwilfish have the Swift Swim ability, Damian," John told me. It seemed like he could read my mind! I knew that Swift Swim meant that they would go faster with Rain, virtually eliminating the paralysis. Luckily the full paralysis could still kick in though.

The Qwilfish seemed to move in unison. Qwilfish A began to charge a waterball and then shot a beam of water at Sparky. I looked at how fast and powerful the beam was moving, and decided it must be a weak water gun. Although, thanks to the rain, it's power was increased. It struck Sparky, and she was pshed back some.

Qwilfish B on the other hand opened his mouth and began sucking in air. I recognized this attack as a Stockpile attack. It didn't do any damage but it upped his defense and special defense. I immediately realized that I wanted to catch this one, as it was more for setting up before attacking. A perfect match for me.

"Sparky, use Thunder on Qwilfish A, and Shroom use Giga Drain on B!" I yelled. Both my pokemon nodded and went to work.

Sparky's cheeks began charging electricity, just a tiny bit at first, then more afterwords. She shot it straight up into the clouds. Two beams of electricity shot back out of the sky, way bigger than when they first headed in. The shot down towards te Qwilfish.

Shroom on the other hand raised his claws into the air. They shone a green, and began to send spores towards one of the Qwilfish. The spores wnt quicker than the last ones, as their goal was to collect health.

"Sparky, use Thunder on Qwilfish A, and Shroom use Giga Drain on B!" Damian commanded. Right to the powerhouse moves again, I noticed. He didn't waste any time in battle.

Sparky's pouches began fizzling again, and a look of concentration crossed her face as she began charging Thunder. Shouting loudly, she sent a large bolt of electricity into the rain clouds above. They stormed angrily, and a jagged lightning bolt dropped from the clouds right towards Qwilfish A.

"Qwilfish!" The Pokemon's eyes widened as he saw the Thunder attack flying towards him. He closed his eyes, seemingly in prayer, and blew up an aqua green energy field around himself, hoping he could get the Protect up in time.

Ultimately, Qwilfish was able to get Protect up just in the nick of time. However, the Thunder attack, which had a small chance of penetrating through Protect, managed to sneak in against the Protect move. From the looks of things, the attack's effects had been dulled a little, but I expected a lot of damage to have been done nonetheless.

Meanwhile, Shroom was using Giga Drain on Qwilfish B. Green energy had formed in between Shroom's claws, and more green energy was being leeched out of Qwilfish into the bubble between Shroom's claws. This attack was noticeably weaker than the Thunder attack - not only was there a huge difference between the Base Power of the moves, but this Qwilfish also had a Special Defense boost from Stockpile.

Both Qwilfish backpedaled (or "back-swam", I supposed) a little bit deeper into the water to create a bit of a distance between them and their opponents. First, they had been paralyzed, and now they had taken heavy hits. This battle was not going the way they hoped, and they quickly caught their breath before resuming things.

Qwilfish A attacked first... or tried to. He swam closer to Shroom, presumably trying to fire off an attack. Qwilfish B was close behind, but had to swim around when Qwilfish A suddenly froze. That one must be fully paralyzed - a stroke of luck for Damian. However, the other Qwilfish didn't give Damian or his Pokemon a chance to relax. She had her eyes on both Sparky and Shroom, knowing she'd have to fend off both as her partner regained control over his body.

"Qwilfish!" she cried, and the water around her began to rise up in the form of a large wave. The wave was slowly tinged with a sickly purple shade - poison, being secreted from the body of the attacker. This was Sludge Wave, one of the more powerful Poison-type moves out there. In this situation, it also happened to be the perfect move available to Qwilfish B.

Sludge Wave normally hit all battlers on the battlefield, being a very similar move to the more popular Surf. It was more than capable of keeping the opponents at bay while Qwilfish A recovered. In fact, Sparky and Shroom would have their hands full with Sludge Wave. And, as an added bonus, Qwilfish B didn't have to worry about hurting Qwilfish A, since she had already swam in front of him (and getting him out of the attack's path) when his body had initially locked up.

The wave crashed towards shore, aiming at both Sparky and Shroom. Shroom, who had walked a few steps closer to the water to get within Giga Drain range of Qwilfish B, took the move's effects first. He took super-effective damage as well, though I suppose with the Giga Drain recovery, it was at least a little more bearable. The attack continued on its path however, aiming at Sparky. The Pikachu had been a little farther out from shore, not needing to approach the water to use Thunder. However, if Damian didn't do something smart quick, Sparky could find herself swamped by the incoming Sludge Wave.

The bolts flew into the clouds. The clouds boomed with thunder, then a jagged, oddly shaped bolt flew down towards Qwilfish A. I saw qwilfish's eyes widen as he saw the bolt coming. The spiky, blue pokemon closed his eyes, as if he were praying to Arceus. Then a green bubble covered him, right as the bolt came. The pokemon was using protect!

The bolt peirced the shield and made contact with the spikey pokemon. He cringed in pain, but the bubble seemed to take some of the damage. Then a small spark shot across his face. i knew that the spark meant Qwilfish was paralyzed, a really good thing. Maybe he wouldn't be able to move.

As this was going on, Shroom's green spores had continued. They hit Qwilfish B and grew bigger as they floated back. Qwilfish B seemed not to have noticed the damage taken though. that what I was hoping for.

I was hoping to just whittle down Qwilfish B's health while i knocked out A so i could just catch B. Looking back to the battle, i suddenly realized what was going on. both fish backswam into deeper water. Too bad I wasnt going after them.

Qwilfish B began swimming towards me. About halfway, she suddenly stopped. A spark ran around her body, and i knew she was paralyzed. I smiled, knowing i would only have to take one attack this time. Qwilfish A, who was not far behind B, launched his attack. A wave began rising from the water and shot towards the land where we were. i knew this attack as a sludge.

The wave engulfed Parasect first, as he was standing closer to the shore, but the attack didn't seem to do much damage. I was grateful, remembering that the giga drain had offset some of the damage. the sludge kept coming for sparky though, and i knew I had to get her out of their. A crazy plan suddenly came to my mind, but i decided to do it anyway.

"Sparky, use quick attack, then slam the ground with an Iron Tail to launch yourself over the wave!" I yelled. "If you can do that, use Thunder on Qwilfish A!"

Sparky began running to the side very quickly, and i turned my atention to Shroom. "Shroom, keep healing yourself with Giga Drain on Qwilfish B!" I commanded.

Damian's eyes took on a crazy look - it seemed he was going to try something interesting.

"Sparky, use Quick Attack, then slam the ground with an Iron Tail to launch yourself over the wave! If you can do that, use Thunder on Qwilfish A!" Damian commanded. Looking to Shroom, he added, "Shroom, keep healing yourself with Giga Drain on Qwilfish B!"

Sparky was up first. She tried to vault herself over the oncoming wave, first building up speed with Quick Attack then launching herself forwards and upwards with Iron Tail. It was an interesting strategy, but it would require a precise amount of force to avoid the wave while maintaining control. Was Sparky up to the task?

Sparky dashed towards the wave, then catapulted herself up with Iron Tail at the last possible moment. Fortunately for Damian, she was able to clear the wave, by quite a safe distance too, actually. Sparky used this as her opportunity to use Thunder.

"Pikachu!" she yelled, sending thunderbolts into the rain clouds. They stormed, and then a large bolt of electricity fell down towards Qwilfish A. The Pokemon sniffed, realizing it was this attack again. He had blocked it with Protect last time, so that wasn't an option again. However, he seemed to be getting used to the attack, and made to counter it.

Qwilfish A took a deep breath in, and blew out a violent stream of snow. Despite Qwilfish's small stature, this attack was incredibly big. This was Blizzard - the Ice-type equivalent of Thunder. The two attacks clashed, and sparks of energy fell down from the sky. Qwilfish A was pummeled by the debris of energy, but still ended up avoiding a lot of the damage she would've taken had she been struck by another Thunder attack.

Meanwhile, Shroom went at Qwilfish B. Once again, he held his claws up. Green energy formed on Qwilfish's body, and the Parasect began leeching at his opponent's health. However, like her partner, Qwilfish was getting used to this attack. She spewed acid at Shroom - Acid Spray. The acid was attracted by Shroom's Giga Drain, and drawn towards the Parasect. It splattered all over his face, and he cried in pain. Again, Shroom had been able to land a hit with Giga Drain on Qwilfish, and the health gain had offset some of the damage. However this time, things were different. Acid Spray was an attack that dropped the target's Special Defense by two stages. Qwilfish B was now learning how to counter this move because Shroom had used it repetitively - the same with Qwilfish A and Sparky.

I turned to Damian, ready to warn him. "You may want to stop repeating moves over and over again. I can tell these Pokemon are learning how to counter them, and no matter how powerful your moves are, it won't mean much if your opponents know how to use them against you."

I smiled as I saw my electric rodent clear the wave by good distance. The jump should have won a medal or a ribbon or whatever they were giving out these days.

Sparky hit the ground and began charging electricity. The small sparks grew bigger and bigger until they finally shot into the air. The clouds rumbled and shot he bolt back, bigger and better than before. Qwilfish A stared down the bolt, like it was ready to take the bolt head on.

I chuckled under my breath. Was this pokemon really going to take the hit? Qwilfish A began sucking in air, and the air froze inside his mouth. Qwilfish A then shot a snowy beam towards the electric bolt. The two attacks collided in mid air and exploded. The debris from the attack fell all over Qwilfish A. The debris didn't do near as much damage as the attack would have, but it still did a good amount.

Shroom meanwhile, was in a bad time. His attack worked perfectly, but these pokemon were learning to counter. As the green spores hit Qwilfish B, she shot Acid into them. The Acid was carried back on the spores and hit Shroom right in the face. The orange bug cried out in pain.

As I was about to call out a command, I heard my ranger behind me. "You may want to stop repeating moves over and over again. I can tell these Pokemon are learning how to counter them, and no matter how powerful your moves are, it won't mean much if your opponents know how to use them against you."

I nodded to show that I had heard. I needed something new, some new battle strategy. I knew my physical attacks wouldn't do much unless I could find a way to get closer. I also didn't want to waste the rain. I quickly ran through both movesets, and came up with a weird idea.

"Shroom, use growth! When he's at full height Sparky, jump on Shroom's back. Use Swift from up there, then Shroom after growth use Stun spore on Qwilfish A!" I commanded.

Shroom begn to grow, and Sparky ran over. As soon as Shroom was about as tall as me, Sparky jumped on his back. From up their Sparky swung her tail around and shot stars. A good Swift.

"Shroom, use Growth! When he's at full height, Sparky, jump on Shroom's back. Use Swift from up there, then Shroom after Growth use Stun Spore on Qwilfish A!" Damian commanded.

Well, this was certainly a different combination of moves. I suppose Damian had forgotten that he had already paralyzed both Qwilfish already, but that wasn't my problem.

Shroom began growing, light green energy surrounding his body. This was Growth, an attack that boosted the user's Attack and Special Attack stats temporarily. As Shroom grew, Sparky used the mushroom on her partner's back as a springboard. She leaped into the air, then at maximum altitude, flung down multiple star-shaped bolts of energy at the two Qwilfish. The stars were many in number and spread out in a large net so that the Qwilfish couldn't avoid them.

"Qwilfish!" they cried as the stars struck them. Shroom leaped into action, using this as his opportunity to strike. He puffed out a couple of yellow spores towards Qwilfish A. However, the spores harmlessly drifted past the Qwilfish. He was already paralyzed, so there wasn't really anything for Stun Spore to accomplish.

The Qwilfish quickly regained their moxie. Qwilfish B made the first move. She launched a ball of water at Sparky. It pulsed like a human heart as it flew towards Sparky - a distinctive feature of the Water Pulse move. The Water Pulse splashed into Sparky, and she staggered backwards a few steps.

I looked at Qwilfish A, but the Pokemon still had yet to make its move. I realized it was fully paralyzed! I suppose the Stun Spore from earlier might have triggered the existing paralysis to lock up Qwilfish's body temporarily. This was a stroke of luck for Damian.

Sparky launched herself off of Shroom's mushroom pads and began to spin. While she was spinning, her tail began to glow a magnificent white. Stars flew out of her tail and towards the Qwilfish. The stars spread out into a huge net like figure, making it so the Qwilfish couldn't dodge the attack. Both Qwilfish were hit and hurt, so Shroom leaped into action.

He shot out a few spores towards Qwilfish A. The spors drifted right past him unfortunately, as he was already paralysed. I cussed at myself for not remembering this.

Qwilfish B sprang into action first. She opened her mouth and shot a huge water orb towards Sparky. A water pulse. The orb hit Sparky and knocked her backwards. Sparky quickly jumped to her feet though.

I looked for Qwilfish A's attack, but none came. He was fully paralysed! I knew that it would be now or never to take him out.

"Ok you two, we're gonna focus on taking Qwilfish A out. Shroom, throw Sparky into the air over the Qwilfish! Sparky, once your up their come straight down on Qwilfish A with an Iron tail, then get out of the water! Shroom, run in the water and use X-scissor!" I yelled. I knew sending my pokemon into the water was risky, but it was a chance I was willing to take.
